|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (18/1 -300%)Groundsman |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (11) (200/1 -100%)Miraflores |
200/1(-100%) | (11) Miraflores 200/1, Again ran poorly despite the trainer being in form. Has shown no ability so far and looks up against it. Has beaten a total of two rivals in six starts; no appeal back from three months off. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

DANDY KHAN outran odds of 50/1 to finish fourth over a mile here, but punters ignored the improvement and she popped up at 40/1 over C&D last week. She appeared to have something up her sleeve and might be able to force Chloe's Courage and Blue Empress to settle for supporting roles again. Groundsman offered encouragement when making the frame on his first appearance for the Mark Loughnane team and could be the primary threat.

The vote goes to GUNDOGAN who has twice run creditably for Tony Carroll and is partnered by one of the most experienced apprentices.

1/9(+75%) | (6) Banyan 1/9, Promising debut when runner-up beaten 3 1/2l in a novice over 7f at Newmarket on only start; returning from a long layoff; looks effective at 7f and holds a strong chance in this weak race. Absent since promising debut in Newmarket contest 13 months ago; the clear form pick. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (9/2 -80%)Ted Le Saux |
9/2(-80%) | (3) Ted Le Saux 9/2, Cracksman gelding; half-brother to Nate The Great, smart from 16f to 20f; dam was smart at 7f; represents a top course trainer and could be a contender in a weak maiden on debut. Half-brother to three winners; represents major stable; interesting newcomer. |

7th (7) (50/1 -52%)Shanty Baba |
50/1(-52%) | (7) Shanty Baba 50/1, Poor debut when well beaten in a maiden over 8f at Southwell only start; yet to find suitable conditions; may want more time. Folded tamely and eased once beaten in 1m maiden at Southwell. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

As Newmarket novice events go, the race BANYAN finished second in on debut probably wasn't a strong one. The daughter of Siyouni has been off for more than a year too, but it is interesting that the Gosdens are persevering with her and she is expected to relish the rise from 7f. None of the others with experience have shown more than a modicum of ability so Cracksman gelding Ted Le Saux is fancied to provide the sternest resistance. Fellow newcomer Imperial Decision is a tentative pick for third.

Newmarket runner-up BANYAN sets a clear standard on her belated reappearance. Interesting debutant Ted Le Saux is second choice.

13/2(+35%) | (5) Girls Night Out 13/2, Ran to form, seeing out the longer trip when beaten 4l off 58 over 12f at Epsom last time; effective 10-12f, acts with cut; potential improver up in trip. 0-6; sister to a winner at up to 1m6f and may still have more to offer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (40/1 -233%)Corsican Caper |

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

SAPPHIRE SIROCCO showed her 25/1 C&D second was no fluke when going agonisingly close at Chelmsford, and then gained just reward for those efforts with a breakthrough success back over this track and trip. She is clearly a filly on an upward curve and can continue on that trajectory. Captain Robert came within a whisker of getting off the mark at Southwell and shouldn't remain a maiden for too much longer. Nunc Est Bibendum and Girls Night Out are interesting on the step up in distance, while Prince Quattro remains well treated compared to his hurdling mark.

The choice is PRINCE QUATTRO (nap) who has been running well on the AW lately. He shaped last time as though a return to 2m would suit.

7/2(+30%) | (3) Hot To Hot 7/2, 17 Mar; 20,000 euros breeze-up purchase by Too Darn Hot; half-brother to Arkendale, very useful at 10f; dam fair at 10f; needs respecting on debut for good yard. Stable has its share of winning 2yo newcomers and well worth a market check. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (25/1 -317%)Hauteluce |

125/1(-594%) | (5) Lord Mayor 125/1, Stable has won two of the last five renewals; moderate debut when well beaten in a Kempton maiden; bred for middle distances and expected to progress. Didn't look an easy ride when beating one home on his Kempton debut 13 days ago. |

33/1(-175%) | (6) Rum Diamond 33/1, Ran to debut level when beaten 6 1/4l in a Kempton maiden last time; likely to improve once moving into handicaps. Out of the frame in two 1m AW maidens; handicaps over further may be more his thing. |

150/1(-127%) | (12) Crazy Plan 150/1, Moderate debut when well beaten in a 9f Wolverhampton maiden; bred for middle distances and may need more time to develop. A little ability when seventh on Wolverhampton debut in September, but may need more time. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

KNIGHT OF GLORY lost two places towards the finish when fourth on debut at Chelmsford and is likely to take a step forward from that display. With the potential for more to come, along with the booking of Rossa Ryan, he looks the way to go. Hauteluce makes appeal on paper, although the daughter of Romanised might fare better over longer trips. Hot To Hot changed hands for 20,000 euros at the breeze-ups earlier in the year and is one to watch in the betting.

A few of these have already shown ability. KNIGHT OF GLORY appears to set the standard having finished fourth on his Chelmsford debut.

Usually held up; effective at 7–8f on all-weather and capable, though not the most resolute. 0-13, but an eyecatching third over C&D in October; interesting if he can build on that. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (6/1 +70%)Jet Packer |
6/1(+70%) | (3) Jet Packer 6/1, Pulled up in a juvenile hurdle over 2m at Stratford last time. Returns from a short break with a wide draw; effective at 7–8f on all-weather and has undergone a wind operation before this Flat run. 50/1(+0%) | (2) Mighty Ruler 50/1, Showed little when tried in a visor and finished down the field in a handicap here last time. Off a short break; effective at 6f on all-weather, though stamina remains unproven. 0-10 and modest form in six starts this year; look elsewhere. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(12) (100/1 -25%)Invincible Storm |
100/1(-25%) | (12) Invincible Storm 100/1, Again ran to a poor level when dropped in trip and finished down the field in a 6f Bath handicap last time. Trainer in form; effective at 7–8f on all-weather but remains an exposed maiden. Just beaten on his Wolverhampton reappearance, but well held since and now 0-16. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Chico Dulce justified favouritism at Lingfield on his latest outing, but a 4lb higher mark might open the door for VILLALOBOS. Simon Hodgson's six-year-old showed more when third in first-time blinkers at Kempton in September and goes off an unchanged mark. The reapplication of the visor might bring about the improvement required to regain the winning thread. Warrnambool isn't ruled out either.

The selection is WARRNAMBOOL who very much caught the eye when third on his stable debut here last time.

AW form since winning on Polytrack early last year reads 98096550; others look more solid. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (33/1 -340%)Raintown |
33/1(-340%) | (5) Raintown 33/1, Below form when dropped in trip and beaten 7 1/4l in a 10f handicap here last time; better suited by 12f; needs to show more. A mixed bag for most of this year, but can never be left out of calulations here (6-14). |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

LIKEALOT has produced some good efforts since her successful debut, filling the runner-up spot in four of her seven starts, most recently behind Solarize at Wolverhampton. The daughter of Camelot goes off the same rating and this looks a good opportunity to get her head back in front. Charlie's Choice was pipped over 1m2f here recently and won't have any problems with this step back up in trip. Vice President looks best of the rest.

This can go to LIKEALOT, who has been running consistently well since handicapping. She may still have further improvement in her.

No worthwhile form and first-time tongue-tie tried on British debut. Makes his stable debut in a first-time tongue-tie after 247 days off; market informative. |

(3) (5/1 +55%)Hoornblower |
5/1(+55%) | (3) Hoornblower 5/1, Close to 2025 form when beaten 6l in an 8f handicap at Bath last time after a short break. Suited by 1m and acts on a sound surface. Showed slight improvement on that occasion. 2lb lower than for his sole success, but still has stamina to prove over this far. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (6/1 +0%)Bintazzo |
6/1(+0%) | (6) Bintazzo 6/1, Late headway off steady pace beaten 7 1/4l in a handicap at Chelmsford last time; blinkers first time; effective 8-12f, acts on GS, GF, AW; could do better. 0-5; finished just under 2l behind Salaria at Chelmsford last time; cheekpieces on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (6/1 -71%)Salaria |
6/1(-71%) | (5) Salaria 6/1, Won by 2l off 59 at Pontefract three starts ago and ran to form when third back on all-weather last time. Consistent between 8-10f, acts on all-weather, and respected off a 1lb lower mark. Latest third of 11 at Chelmsford has been boosted by the subsequent success of the second. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(8) (13/2 -189%)Muy Muy Loco |
13/2(-189%) | (8) Muy Muy Loco 13/2, Ran to best, up late under good ride landing a handicap by a neck off 53 here last time; usually held up; effective 7-10f, acts on a sound surface; generally consistent, more on up 3lb. Up in trip when off the mark over C&D last time; a player if things pan out the same way.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (7/1 +0%)Uzincso |
7/1(+0%) | (4) Uzincso 7/1, Won by 3/4l off 59 over 11f at Kempton three runs back. Below form when seventh last time after racing a bit wide. Trainer in form. Suited by 10-11f and acts on all-weather; veteran still 3lb above last winning mark. Placed three times from seven starts over C&D, but not at his best the last twice. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (12/1 -100%)Masqool |
12/1(-100%) | (2) Masqool 12/1, Bit wide but ran to form when 7 1/4l third in a handicap over 9f at Wolverhampton most recent run; effective 8-10f, acts on G but better on AW; in form and can go well again. Three-time C&D winner and running well lately; best form would make him a serious player.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (28/1 -40%)Ciotog |
28/1(-40%) | (1) Ciotog 28/1, Below form when comfortably held in a handicap at Bath last time, having stepped back up in trip. Effective up to 10f and acts on soft and all-weather surfaces, but needs to show more than of late. 3lb below last winning mark and drops in grade, but best form has come at around a mile. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(9) (50/1 -178%)Marchetti |
50/1(-178%) | (9) Marchetti 50/1, Below form when well beaten over 12f at Kempton last time, tried in a hood and up in trip. In good form prior. Effective from 8-10f and acts on all-weather; needs to bounce back. 1-33 on the AW and 2-49 overall; this trip is likely to stretch her. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

The step up to 1m2f made the difference for MUY MUY LOCO when getting off the mark here in October and a 3lb rise doesn't appear to be overly harsh, especially given the fact he is likely to have more to come over this distance. The application of blinkers is expected to sharpen up Bintazzo, while any market support for Nekazari on his debut for George Boughey should be taken seriously.

Preference is for three-time C&D winner MASQOOL whose best form would give him every chance in a race at this level.

(2) (11/4 +54%)Bownder |
11/4(+54%) | (2) Bownder 11/4, Below form when well beaten in a handicap over 9f at Newmarket last time; effective from 8f to 11f and acts on any surface; needs to bounce back. Recorded most recent win off 1lb higher in June; fighting chance if back to best. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (3/1 +63%)Tatmeen |
3/1(+63%) | (5) Tatmeen 3/1, Below form when stepped up in trip and comfortably held in a handicap over 1m5f at Chelmsford last time; effective from 10f to 12f and handles the all-weather; needs more. Chance partly depends on how well he responds to racing without a hood for first time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (4/1 +50%)Time Turner |
4/1(+50%) | (4) Time Turner 4/1, Probably needed the run when beaten 8l in a novice over 8f at Newcastle last time; yet to find ideal conditions but may do better now up in trip on handicap debut. May be capable of improvement now handicapping on second start for new yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (6/1 +63%)Photon |
6/1(+63%) | (6) Photon 6/1, Below form tried in blinkers when finishing down the field in a 12f handicap at Kempton last time; effective from 8f to 10f and well suited by the all-weather; cheekpieces return and drops back in trip. Still a maiden but is well treated on best form and this drop back in trip is a plus. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(8) (12/1 0%)Tommy's Promise |
12/1(0%) | (8) Tommy's Promise 12/1, Again ran to a moderate level when beaten 7l in a 9f handicap at Wolverhampton last time; trainer in form; effective from 8f to 10f and acts on a sound surface; currently in very poor form. Remains a maiden but this step back up in distance may help. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (12/1 -167%)City Of York |
12/1(-167%) | (3) City Of York 12/1, Below form, always behind when down the field in a 7f handicap here last time; usually held up; effective from 7f to 9f and acts on the all-weather; workable mark but needs to rebound. Couple of duck eggs since returned to AW, extending his long losing run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(7) (14/1 -115%)Judge Frank |
14/1(-115%) | (7) Judge Frank 14/1, Ran to form tried in blinkers when beaten 2 1/4l off a mark of 55 over 8f here last time; effective at 7f and 8f, acts on a sound surface; inconsistent. Ran respectably over 1m here last week; possibilities if he stays this longer trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (14/1 -522%)Shalfa |
14/1(-522%) | (1) Shalfa 14/1, Ran to form under a good ride when landing a handicap by a length off a mark of 62 at Brighton last time; likes to make the running and is effective at 10f, acts on any surface; not certain to follow up her recent success. Made all at Brighton when last seen; only 1-16 on AW but gained the win over C&D. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

SHALFA was last seen in winning action at Brighton in September and the C&D winner looks to have been found a suitable opportunity off a 2lb higher mark. Tatmeen's run at Chelmsford is best ignored and the drop in trip gives him every chance to bounce back, while a return to the all-weather may see Bownder in a better light.

Being a mare who was in winning form when last seen and remains on a workable mark, SHALFA is preferred.

(5) (4/1 +67%)Stash The Cash |
4/1(+67%) | (5) Stash The Cash 4/1, Ran to form down in trip when beaten 6l in a handicap at Leicester last time; suited by 5f; unproven on AW. Ran respectably in sole AW attempt and is now 9lb lower; stable debut. |

(6) (7/1 -75%)Alafdhal |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (12/1 -100%)Bluebells Boy |
12/1(-100%) | (1) Bluebells Boy 12/1, Ran to form when beaten 2l off 60 here last time; effective at 5/6f, acts on a sound surface; solid off the same mark as latest. Ran encouragingly, behind two of today's rivals, over C&D last week. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (14/1 +58%)Knightmare |
14/1(+58%) | (3) Knightmare 14/1, Again well below novice form when beaten 9l in a handicap over 7f here last time; effective at 6f, acts on AW; much more needed with cheekpieces removed. Chance depends on whether the drop to 5f prompts improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (33/1 -32%)Wedgewood |
33/1(-32%) | (2) Wedgewood 33/1, Made too much use of when well beaten in a handicap at Bath last time; effective at 5f, acts on AW; needs to bounce back. Lacks recent match practice having been absent for six months. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(10) (80/1 -100%)Second Collection |
80/1(-100%) | (10) Second Collection 80/1, Lacked the pace to challenge when beaten 5l in a handicap at Wolverhampton last time; usually held up; suited by 5f, acts on AW, may not like give; out of form. Needs a revival on return from three-month break. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

ALAFDHAL scored at Wolverhampton before attempting to follow up under a 4lb penalty at the same track three days later. The seven-year-old went down by a neck over 6f and the drop back in trip is likely to benefit him on this occasion. Roman Spring got the better of South Shore Island over C&D last week, but the latter may reverse the form with a 5lb swing due to the winner's penalty.

Still well treated on peak form, BLUEBELLS BOY is taken to reverse C&D placings with South Shore Island and Roman Spring.
Ths is the racecard key.
