Placed in three of his four starts; sets a fair standard; blinkers replace cheekpieces. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (2/1 0%)Eternity's Sunrise |
2/1(0%) | (5) Eternity's Sunrise 2/1, Not best of runs, promising debut when third beaten 1 1/4l in a maiden at Wolverhampton debut; effective at 6f on AW; should improve upped in trip. Caught the eye when 3rd on his Wolverhampton debut last month; the longer trip should suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (5/1 +17%)Wind Summer |
5/1(+17%) | (4) Wind Summer 5/1, Had the run of the race and improved when second, beaten a neck, in a novice here last time. Cheekpieces tried for the first time. Bred for 7f and beyond and could progress further once handicapping. Beaten a neck in a slowly run race over 1m here a fortnight ago; cheekpieces on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (66/1 -100%)La Kosmos |
66/1(-100%) | (8) La Kosmos 66/1, Didn't find much when well beaten in a novice at Kempton on debut. By a sprinting sire out of a 12f-winning dam; should come on for that first outing. Well held on her Kempton debut; handicaps over further are likely to be her thing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (10) (9/1 -29%)Sweep In Time |
9/1(-29%) | (10) Sweep In Time 9/1, Failed to get home again when beaten 7l in a maiden here last time. Hood applied for the first time. Yet to stay 8f though bred for middle distances; has a bit to prove after two ordinary efforts. Promise on her Kempton debut but pulled too hard here last time; hood on; shortlisted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (150/1 -50%)Hove Ranger |
150/1(-50%) | (1) Hove Ranger 150/1, Showed a slightly better effort when not asked a serious question, finishing down the field in a novice at Kempton last time. Bred for 8f and beyond, and looks the type to do better once handicapping. Well beaten in novices at Newbury and Kempton; looks one for handicaps after this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (66/1 -136%)Savvi Row |
66/1(-136%) | (7) Savvi Row 66/1, Stable won this race last year. Outpaced and produced only a moderate effort when well beaten in a novice at Kempton on debut. Drawn wide; by a sprinting sire but from a dam who stayed 12f, so may need more time. Beat one home on his Kempton debut; probably needs more time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (6) (33/1 +59%)High Boltage |
33/1(+59%) | (6) High Boltage 33/1, Showed improvement up in trip when beaten 9 1/2l in a novice at Kempton last time. Likely to prefer 7f or 8f and remains open to a little more progress. Little to shout about in his first two starts; modest handicaps beckon. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) (40/1 -233%)Poetic Grace |
40/1(-233%) | (9) Poetic Grace 40/1, Has yet to show any real signs of ability. Drawn wide and may need more time to develop. Well held in both starts, but she was well backed over C&D last time; watch the market. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (3) (50/1 -257%)Ten Cuidado |
50/1(-257%) | (3) Ten Cuidado 50/1, Too free early and well beaten in a maiden at Wolverhampton last time. Drawn wide but effective at 7f on the all-weather; needs to settle to show his best. Ran well on penultimate start and may have had excuses last time; each-way claims. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Having finished a close-up second on his nursery bow at Chelmsford recently, MARSEILLAN has plenty going for him reverting to novice company. Lemos De Souza's gelding should put his experience to good use and a breakthrough victory may beckon. Although Wind Summer is rated 5lb inferior to the selection, he should be in the mix once more. However, a bigger threat may emerge from Eternity's Sunrise, who was a promising third on debut at Wolverhampton last month.

The choice is MARSEILLAN who sets a fair standard following his narrow defeat on nursery debut at Chelmsford 13 days ago.

1st (5) (16/1 -380%)Cryingintherain |
16/1(-380%) | (5) Cryingintherain 16/1, Improved on a modest debut when beaten 2 1/4l in a novice here last time. Effective at 5f on the all-weather but needs further progress. Out of the frame in her first two starts but probably has a bigger effort in her. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (10/11 +48%)Hen Party |
10/11(+48%) | (6) Hen Party 10/11, Probably ran to form despite missing the break when second, beaten 1 1/4l in a novice here last time. Effective at 6/7f, likely to stay further; small but game and consistent performer on the all-weather. Clear of the third when second of five over C&D 16 days ago; sets a fair standard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (2/1 +40%)Wild Act |
2/1(+40%) | (3) Wild Act 2/1, Didn't settle and was well beaten in a maiden at Southwell on only start. Trainer in form and speedily bred; pulled chance away on debut but should do much better if settling with the drop in trip. 4l behind Alpine Culture when fifth on his Southwell debut; needs to settle better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (9/2 +47%)Grey Force |
9/2(+47%) | (2) Grey Force 9/2, 3 Feb; Blue Point colt; dam very smart at 5-7f, winning at Listed level; fails from a good yard and could easily have a say in this on debut. Market support would be significant as this doesn't look a deep race. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (100/1 -400%)No Drama Mama |
100/1(-400%) | (7) No Drama Mama 100/1, Had a poor draw and was caught a long way back when beaten 7l in a novice at Southwell on debut. Hood applied for the first time; distances around 8f should suit this big filly who may need more time. Ninth on her Southwell debut; hood on, but stable may field a stronger candidate elsewhere. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (50/1 +0%)Anaba Girl |
50/1(+0%) | (4) Anaba Girl 50/1, 1 May; Mayson filly; full-sister to Stone Soldier, smart at 7f; dam smart at 8f at 2yo; tough enough task on debut. Something to like on pedigree and market should be revealing. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Alpine Culture displayed enough ability on his opening fourth at Southwell earlier this month to suggest that he can get involved at this level. A drop in distance could suit the son of Showcasing and he's not taken lightly, but HEN PARTY looks the one to beat. Ed Dunlop's filly has hit the frame on her last three outings and compensation could be imminent. Market support for newcomer Grey Force would be interesting.

The vote goes to HEN PARTY who sets a fair standard, especially on her second of five over C&D 16 days ago.

1st (1) (10/11 +39%)Lord Harcourt |
10/11(+39%) | (1) Lord Harcourt 10/11, Plenty to do, improved on sharper track ridden with more restraint in landing a handicap by a head off a 4lb lower mark here last time; trainer in form; effective 5/6f, suited by fast ground, acts on AW; still on a very workable mark. Beat Akabusi by a head over C&D last time; 2lb worse off but won with a little bit in hand. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (4/1 +20%)Akabusi |
4/1(+20%) | (2) Akabusi 4/1, Scored by 1/2l off a 7lb lower mark at Wolverhampton three starts back; ran to form latest; effective at 6f, acts on a sound surface; blinkers key, seems game and reliable in them. Beaten a head by Lord Harcourt over C&D last time and 2lb better off; a player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (6/1 -50%)Up The Agenda |
6/1(-50%) | (3) Up The Agenda 6/1, Used tactical speed to advantage and probably improved a fraction in landing a handicap by 3/4l off a 4lb lower mark at Newcastle last time; effective at 6/7f, acts on GS, GF and AW; versatile, on an upward curve. 3-4 in nurseries, the last two wins at Newcastle; this is a totally different type of test. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (14/1 -56%)Alasrae |
14/1(-56%) | (4) Alasrae 14/1, Faded really badly for no obvious reason when beaten 6 1/4l in a nursery at Southwell last time; in good form prior; effective 5/6f, acts on sound surface; usually consistent but bit to prove after latest. Looked a bit unfortunate at Kempton on penultimate start, but ran poorly last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (13/2 +19%)Mighty Vega |
13/2(+19%) | (6) Mighty Vega 13/2, Just about stayed up in trip when beaten 2l off a 1lb higher mark at Kempton last time; effective at 6f, only just gets 7f, acts on AW; useful mark still. Won over 6f at Kempton, but didn't stay 7f there last time; each-way claims back in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (66/1 -100%)Fermain |
66/1(-100%) | (5) Fermain 66/1, Mark probably too stiff beaten 5l in a nursery here last time; effective at 5/6f, acts on AW; badly handicapped. Has failed to beat a rival in last two starts, the latest over C&D; best watched for now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (20/1 -264%)Guernsey Lady |
20/1(-264%) | (7) Guernsey Lady 20/1, Bit too free but ran to form when fourth beaten 4l in a nursery at Chelmsford latest; visor first time; off a short-break; effective 5/6f, acts on a sound surface; mark quite competitive. Relatively exposed and needs to improve for the visor back from three months off. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Up The Agenda continued his upward trajectory when completing a double at Newcastle 18 days ago and a 4lb higher mark is unlikely to prevent another bold bid. However, LORD HARCOURT's breakthrough victory over C&D earlier this month could prove to be stronger form, with the third subsequently scoring on Boxing Day. Ed Walker's inmate is slightly more compelling and further glory may be imminent. Reopposing runner-up Akabusi must also enter calculations.

Just a head separated LORD HARCOURT (nap) and Akabusi over C&D last time, but the less exposed winner is taken to score again.

1st (2) (11/4 +17%)Baldomero |
11/4(+17%) | (2) Baldomero 11/4, Strong at finish, back to best landing a Sprint Handicap by 1 1/2l off a 4lb lower mark at Wolverhampton last time; suited by 5/6f, acts on Hy, G and AW; more needed up again in weights. Has something to prove over this sharper 5f and is 0-28 off marks in the 90s. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (85/40 -31%)Clearpoint |
85/40(-31%) | (1) Clearpoint 85/40, Improved again when landing a handicap by a length off a 4lb lower mark at Wolverhampton last time; enjoys racing prominently; off a short break; effective over 5f or 6f, probably acts on any surface; in fine form and respected bidding for a four-timer. Dual C&D winner who bids for a four-timer from a 4lb higher mark; much respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (7/2 +42%)Fidelius |
7/2(+42%) | (4) Fidelius 7/2, Scored by a length off a 4lb lower mark at Newcastle penultimate start; ran to form last time; enjoys making it; suited by 5f, acts on GS, GF and AW; can go well again. Ridden aggressively for all four wins, but being able to dominate here seems unlikely. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (4/1 -14%)Almaty Star |
4/1(-14%) | (5) Almaty Star 4/1, Ran to form when beaten 1 1/4l off a 1lb lower mark at Chelmsford last time; suited by 5f and acts on a sound surface; in much better form of late. C&D winner and usually a front-runner; 4lb lower than when last successful; could go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (17/2 -6%)Twilight Jet |
17/2(-6%) | (3) Twilight Jet 17/2, Ran to form in reapplied visor when beaten 2l off a 1lb higher mark at Kempton last time; effective at 5f or 6f and acts on any surface; on a fair mark if able to build on that latest effort. Continues to slide down the weights but losing run now 18 and this test could be too sharp. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

CLEARPOINT has proved a revelation since being ridden more positively and a four-timer could be on the cards. The five-year-old is only 4lb higher than his latest triumph at Wolverhampton and may still be a step ahead of the assessor. Baldomero has scored on two of his last three outings and is likely to be in the thick of the action once more, with Almaty Star the pick of the remainder.

The choice is dual C&D winner CLEARPOINT who often likes to get on with it, but has shown that he doesn't need to lead in order to win.

1st (5) (7/2 +22%)Nebras |
7/2(+22%) | (5) Nebras 7/2, Made the running and improved to win a handicap at Newcastle by a head last time; effective from 8f to 10f and handles the all-weather; back in form but needs to find more at this level. This is tougher than the handicap he made all in last time, but he remains unexposed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (13/8 -79%)Tyrrhenian Sea |
13/8(-79%) | (4) Tyrrhenian Sea 13/8, Returned to form when 3 1/4l third in the Hyde Stakes (Listed) at Kempton on his latest run; trainer in good form; effective from 8f to 10f, all form on all-weather; dual Listed winner on this surface, including of this race two years ago, and he should go well. Won this in 2023 and second last year; should be all the better for last month's return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (6/1 +40%)Duke's Command |
6/1(+40%) | (1) Duke's Command 6/1, Improved in trip, scored with bit in hand when winning a handicap here by a length last time; effective 8-10f, best of sound surface; more to come at this distance. Won a handicap over C&D last time, but that was off a mark of 92; this is a tougher test. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (13/2 -44%)Torito |
13/2(-44%) | (3) Torito 13/2, Bit below best down in trip beaten 7l in Hyde Stakes (Listed) at Kempton last time; suited by 10f, acts on any; temperament a slight worry, bounce back needed. Lightly raced since winning twice as a 3yo; behind Tyrrhenian Sea at Kempton last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (9/4 +63%)Military Academy |
9/4(+63%) | (2) Military Academy 9/4, Again well below form tried in blinkers comfortably held in St Simon Stakes (Group 3) at Newbury last time; visor first time; off a short-break; suited by 1m4f, best with some give; something to prove at present. Good form in two AW starts for the Gosdens; watch market on stable debut; visor on. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

Last-time-out winners Nebras and Duke's Command merit respect in their current fettle, but the ratings suggest that improvement will be needed on this step into Listed company. With that in mind, the 108-rated TYRRHENIAN SEA could be the way to go. Roger Varian's veteran arrives on the back of a good third over 1m at Kempton and he looks ready for a return to this trip.

It's hard to get away from TYRRHENIAN SEA who won this race in 2023 and finished second last year.

1st (1) (4/5 +71%)Invited |
4/5(+71%) | (1) Invited 4/5, Outpaced down in trip when beaten 5l in a handicap here last time. The trainer is in form and he's effective at 7/8f. Acts on a sound surface, and the return to this trip is a plus. Drops back in grade and may well enjoy the run of the race; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (3/1 +10%)Hitched |
3/1(+10%) | (2) Hitched 3/1, Below form when beaten 9l in a handicap here last time, though in good form before that. Effective over 8-10f and acts on a sound surface. Needs to bounce back. Dual C&D winner but may need a stiffer test now; wouldn't want this to be run at a dawdle. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (10/1 -233%)Way To Dubai |
10/1(-233%) | (6) Way To Dubai 10/1, Ran to form when beaten 2 1/4l off a 1lb higher mark here last time; effective 6/7f, acts on GS, GF and AW; found his form of late. Return to 1m should suit but a record of 0-27 since arriving in Britain is hard to ignore. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (40/1 -60%)Nordic Norm |
40/1(-60%) | (3) Nordic Norm 40/1, Another moderate effort when beaten 8l in a handicap at York last time after a short break. Suited by 8f and acts on AW; plenty to prove. Has gone the wrong way since his successful debut; best watched on stable debut. |

7/2(-27%) | (5) Rey De La Batalla 7/2, Back to form beaten a length off this mark here last time; effective 7/8f, best on AW; capable off this mark. All four wins over 7f/1m on Polytrack; third here nine days ago and should again go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (25/1 -79%)Great Blasket |
25/1(-79%) | (4) Great Blasket 25/1, Well below form when down the field in a handicap at Kempton most recently. Suited by 8/9f and seems to act on most surfaces except very testing ground. Erratic but now back on his last winning mark. Back off last winning mark but efforts since returned to the AW leave plenty to be desired. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

A 1lb ease in the ratings could prove to be lenient for last-time-out course third WAY TO DUBAI and a fourth career victory may be on the cards. The son of Holy Roman Emperor has been shaping as if a return to this distance will suit and he edges the vote over Rey De La Batalla. The four-year-old finished third over 7f here recently and a similar performance should see him involved. The downgraded Invited may also feature.

The selection is INVITED who should appreciate the drop in grade and may well enjoy the run of the race.

17/2(-6%) | (4) Handle With Care 17/2, Below form after slow start beaten 8l in a handicap at Wolverhampton last time; effective 6/7f, acts on fast ground and AW; lost form recently. Weighted to reverse April C&D running with Lady Manzor but modest of late. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (28/1 -155%)Crystal Dagger |
28/1(-155%) | (6) Crystal Dagger 28/1, Raced a bit wide and finished below form when down the field in a handicap at Southwell most recently. Trainer is in form, and she's effective at 6f or 7f on the all-weather. The handicapper has given her a chance. Record on turf reads 222, but has beaten a total of one rival in three starts on the AW. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (13/8 +19%)Gaiety Musical |
13/8(+19%) | (2) Gaiety Musical 13/8, Ran to form when beaten 1 1/4l off this mark at Chelmsford last time. Effective over 7f or 8f on the all-weather and considered a leading player. All four wins have come at around 1m; could play a part if getting a solid pace to run at. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (6/1 +0%)Penelope Valentine |
6/1(+0%) | (5) Penelope Valentine 6/1, Scored by a neck off a 4lb lower mark here penultimate start; below form when fifth last time; suited by 7f, acts on GS, GF and AW; bounce back needed. Held at Wolverhampton last time but won over C&D the time before; good chance on that form. |

10/3(+49%) | (3) Kindest Nation 10/3, Scored by 3/4l off a 3lb lower mark at Newcastle three starts back but finished only ninth last time. Top jockey returns to ride. Effective at 8f and best suited by a stiff 7f on the all-weather. Needs to bounce back. Well beaten at Wolverhampton and needs to bounce back in the returning cheekpieces. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

LADY MANZOR is one of just two C&D winners in this field and, prior to a break, she was holding her form well enough to suggest she ought to go very close. 5lb claimer Jack Dace gets on well with the progressive filly and she can sign off for 2025 in style. Gaiety Musical and Kindest Nation are the dangers.

The selection is PENELOPE VALENTINE who beat 13 rivals to win over C&D on her penultimate start.

8th (5) (15/8 +32%)Twilight Madness |
15/8(+32%) | (5) Twilight Madness 15/8, Produced a good effort up 4lb when landing a handicap by 1/2l off a 2lb lower mark at Wolverhampton last time. Enjoys making the running, suited by 5f or 6f and acts on all-weather surfaces. In very good heart. Ready C&D winner back at 6f, then followed up at Wolverhampton; well treated on past form. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

TWILIGHT MADNESS can send his supporters home smiling in the finale by completing his hat-trick. He's galloped his rivals into the ground the last twice over C&D and then at Wolverhampton, and it will take a brave punter to oppose him while he's in this kind of form. Of the others, keep C&D winner Lazzar and Woodhay Whisper in mind.

Twilight Street has a good weights chance on his old form but LAZZAR is taken to follow up his recent C&D novice win.
Ths is the racecard key.
