1st (7) (11/4 +58%)Cooler Than Me |
11/4(+58%) | (7) Cooler Than Me 11/4, Was outpaced and unable to go the gallop when finishing down the field in a novice hurdle at Hereford most recently. Cheekpieces are tried for the first time and may do better now handicapping. No threat in novice company over hurdles but ought to be more competitive in this handicap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (25/1 +24%)De Deli Counter |
25/1(+24%) | (5) De Deli Counter 25/1, Tried in a visor but unseated early in a handicap hurdle at Newcastle last time. Has yet to show anything in this sphere and is hard to fancy. Unseated rider at second flight when 80-1 for recent handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) (22/1 -22%)Annie Nail |
22/1(-22%) | (9) Annie Nail 22/1, Put in a poor effort back chasing when comfortably held in a handicap chase at Fakenham last time. Usually held up and effective over 2m4f–2m7f, and might be happier back hurdling. 66-1 second at Fakenham two runs ago but far too inconsistent to rely upon. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (4/1 +84%)River Rider |
4/1(+84%) | (6) River Rider 4/1, Made mistakes and ran poorly when pulled up in a handicap hurdle at Doncaster latest. Tongue-tie is applied for the first time and he returns from a short break, but needs more to defy his mark. Unplaced all six hurdling starts; needs new tongue-tie to make a big difference. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (9/2 -50%)We Got Your Back |
9/2(-50%) | (4) We Got Your Back 9/2, Below form when fourth, beaten 28l, in a handicap chase at Southwell last time. Returns from a short break and is effective over 2m–2m4f, but needs more. Three-time chase winner; below form last time but still considered on this rare hurdle run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (40/1 -627%)Saachi |
40/1(-627%) | (2) Saachi 40/1, Was a bit below form back on the Flat when fourth, beaten 7l, in a handicap at Southwell latest. An inconsistent maiden under both codes, but may do better now handicapping back over hurdles. Lowly rated Flat maiden who showed only glimmers of promise in 2m maiden/novice hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (5/2 +9%)Wind Your Neck In |
5/2(+9%) | (3) Wind Your Neck In 5/2, Ran to form when fourth, beaten 7 1/4l, in a handicap hurdle here latest. Effective around 2m and easing in the weights, but arrives in only moderate form. 0-10 over hurdles but ran pretty well when fourth on last three outings (twice over C&D). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) (11/1 -214%)Glenmuick |
11/1(-214%) | (1) Glenmuick 11/1, Improved, albeit comfortably held, in a maiden hurdle at Uttoxeter last time. Tongue-tie is applied for the first time. Effective at 2m on heavy, but improvement is needed, although this is possible now handicapping up in trip. Latest qualifying run was encouraging; upped from 2m for this handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (16/1 +20%)Kit The Christian |
16/1(+20%) | (8) Kit The Christian 16/1, Not knocked about back from a break when comfortably held in a novice hurdle here last time, and clearly needed the run. Cheekpieces are applied for the first time and a longer trip may suit now handicapping. Showed no significant promise when a big-priced outsider for three novice/maiden hurdles. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Although We Got Your Back is better known as a chaser, he has to be of interest in a modest-looking affair. The eight-year-old shouldn't be far away judged on his efforts at Hexham earlier in the season, but WIND YOUR NECK IN is more compelling. Sam England's inmate wasn't disgraced on his fourth-placed efforts at Catterick and here during January and this step up in trip could prove fruitful. Handicap debutant Glenmuick is worth a second look in the betting.

This modest contest could provide a good opportunity for WIND YOUR NECK IN to capitalise upon some help from the handicapper.

6/4(+33%) | (2) Cinquenta 6/4, Improved slightly when second, beaten a neck, in a maiden hurdle at Lingfield latest. Returns from a short break and has been effective at 2m-2m4f on S and GS, with more to come over hurdles. Close second on both hurdling starts at Lingfield (2m3f/2m); likely contender again here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

9/4(-13%) | (4) Gee Force Flyer 9/4, Improved when second, beaten 1 1/2l, in a maiden hurdle at Ffos Las latest. Returns from a short break, has been effective at 2m4f on soft, and looks a matter of time before winning. Irish point winner; launched rules career with two good runs at Ffos Las; big player here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (8/1 -60%)Roi Du Risk |
8/1(-60%) | (1) Roi Du Risk 8/1, Showed a good attitude when dropping in trip to win a novice hurdle at Leicester by 1/2l last time. Trainer is in form and he has been effective at 2m-2m2f on S and GS, remaining a leading player despite a penalty. Gained hard-fought win at Leicester (1m7f) in December; this longer trip ought to suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (4/1 +33%)Jukebox King |
4/1(+33%) | (5) Jukebox King 4/1, Made a promising rules debut when tried in a tongue-tie and finishing fourth, beaten 15l, in a maiden hurdle at Hereford. Second run after a wind op, effective at 2m4f on GS, with improvement likely. Irish point winner; shaped well before weakening into fourth on rules debut at Hereford. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

8/1(-78%) | (7) Seamoon Story 8/1, Improved on debut despite being comfortably held in a maiden hurdle at Ascot last time. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (100/1 -150%)Gaelic Glow |
100/1(-150%) | (3) Gaelic Glow 100/1, Was green, made mistakes and did not handle the track when comfortably held in a novice hurdle at Haydock last time, without being given a hard race. Effective at 2m but needs improvement. Posed no threat on first three hurdling starts (1m7f-2m1f). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (200/1 -33%)Mc'flo |
200/1(-33%) | (9) Mc'flo 200/1, Needed the run when finishing down the field in a novice hurdle at Newbury most recently. Likely to require more time and looks the type to do better once switched to handicaps. Soundly beaten on her first two hurdling starts (both 2m) and can't be recommended here. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

CINQUENTA has posted two creditable close-up seconds at Lingfield this season and compensation could be on the horizon. The Cokoriko gelding should appreciate this step up in distance and shades the verdict over Gee Force Flyer. Olly Murphy's charge has also been knocking on the door and is likely to be in the thick of the action, while Seamoon Story is considered easing in class.

The vote goes to GEE FORCE FLYER, who launched his hurdling career with two good efforts at Ffos Las in the autumn.

9/4(+32%) | (1) Grandad's Cap 9/4, Ran to best despite interference on debut over fences when a 5l third in a handicap chase at Catterick last time. Effective up to 3m on a sound surface and could be a possible improver over fences. Stayed on for third over 2m3f on chase debut; back up in trip today; big player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (12/1 +64%)Worth The Walk |
12/1(+64%) | (7) Worth The Walk 12/1, Never in it when pulled up in a handicap chase at Uttoxeter latest. Effective at 3m in points but has yet to fire under rules. Pulled up in her first two chases and arrives here with a lot to prove. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (6/5 +60%)Try The Money |
6/5(+60%) | (5) Try The Money 6/5, Just about ran to form when tried in cheekpieces and second, beaten 20l, in a handicap chase at Uttoxeter last time. Effective at 3m and suited by cut, giving him a good chance. Went close on seasonal debut and bumped into a big improver last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (33/1 -32%)Pulse Of Camelot |
33/1(-32%) | (2) Pulse Of Camelot 33/1, Poor effort when pulled up in a handicap chase at Leicester latest. Cheekpieces are applied for the first time. Effective at 2m5f on heavy ground but needs more on recent evidence. Pulled up when 66-1 for handicap chase in December; headgear added today. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

The Evan Williams yard have started to hit some form, so Frankie Faulkner must enter the reckoning having filled the runner-up spot on his last two outings. The nine-year-old is unlikely to be far away, but he may have to play second fiddle once more, with TRY THE MONEY a touch more attractive. Henry Oliver's charge is also trying to break a run of seconds, but his latest effort behind a subsequent winner at Uttoxeter reads well. Grandad's Cap is the pick of the remainder.

Grandad's Cap has potential but ALLTALKNOACTION is proven over this C&D and gets the vote.

15/2(-15%) | (5) Gold In The Rivers 15/2, Never jumping or travelling tried in blinkers when pulled up in a handicap chase at Newbury latest; effective 2m4f-3m, acts on Hy and G; yet to fire for new yard or over fences, needs more back hurdling. Pulled up over fences last month but reverts to hurdling on a good mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (12/1 +14%)Secret Trix |
12/1(+14%) | (1) Secret Trix 12/1, Outpaced and never threatened when well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Sandown last time. Wants 3m. Recent form has tailed off, and he needs to find improvement to get back on track. Six hurdle wins; arrives here after two heavy defeats but has slipped to a tempting mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (11/1 -38%)Ramo |
11/1(-38%) | (4) Ramo 11/1, Needed the run when finishing down the field in a handicap hurdle at Chepstow most recently. Effective between 2m4f and 3m1f but needs to prove his ability remains after a layoff. Well handicapped on old form but needs a revival. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (11/10 +76%)Sunshine Diamond |
11/10(+76%) | (2) Sunshine Diamond 11/10, Ran to form benefitting from reappearance and an easy lead when second beaten 4 1/2l in a handicap hurdle at Warwick latest; effective at 3m-3m2f, acts on GS and G; fair mark still. 2-6 over hurdles; ran big race from the front when clear second at Warwick last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (14/1 +0%)Bridge North |
14/1(+0%) | (3) Bridge North 14/1, Stopped quickly, race came too soon when pulled up in a handicap hurdle at Doncaster latest; off a short-break; effective 3m, acts on S and G; tricky to win with but very well treated if bouncing back. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (10/1 -233%)Circuit Breaker |
10/1(-233%) | (7) Circuit Breaker 10/1, Ran to form when beaten 1/2l off a 36lb lower mark at Wolverhampton last time. Effective between 2m and 2m5f over hurdles and is not ruled out of the frame. Runner-up twice on the AW this winter but might be too high in the weights over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (10/3 -105%)Outer Banks |
10/3(-105%) | (6) Outer Banks 10/3, Improved up in trip tried in a tongue-tie when landing a handicap by 13l off a 8lb lower mark at Wetherby last time; returning from long layoff; effective 2m4f-3m on S; more to come and chance if ready back from a break. Won by 13l on handicap debut at Wetherby just under a year ago; not seen since. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Outer Banks bolted up in a first-time tongue-tie on his handicap debut at Wetherby last February and warrants a market check on his return from the sidelines. Secret Trix lurks on a fair mark and is noted, but the vote goes to SUNSHINE DIAMOND. Runner-up in each of his last two outings, the seven-year-old remains in the same grade and can score for the Neil Mulholland team.

Preference is for SUNSHINE DIAMOND, who ran well in defeat at Warwick on New Year's Eve and may still have some potential.

1st (1) (9/2 +44%)Immortal Fame |
9/2(+44%) | (1) Immortal Fame 9/2, Made mistakes and was outpaced but ran to form, proving stamina when fourth, beaten 8l, in a handicap chase at Warwick last time. Effective over 2m4f–2m6f, stays a sharp 3m, suited by decent ground, and his mark continues to ease. Yet to hit peak form this season but not beaten far when fourth on last two outings. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (11/2 -144%)Impatient |
11/2(-144%) | (2) Impatient 11/2, Improved and finished strongly when landing a handicap by 5l off a 7lb lower mark at Huntingdon last time. Suited by 3m on decent ground and holds a chance provided conditions do not turn too soft. Not very reliable but looked in very good nick at Huntingdon in December. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (11/4 -10%)Smurfette |
11/4(-10%) | (7) Smurfette 11/4, Travelled well and improved again when beaten a neck off a 5lb lower mark at Uttoxeter last time. Effective over 2m4f–3m, ideally suited by decent ground, and still looks ahead of her current mark. Returned from long layoff with big run on New Year's Eve and commands respect. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (13/2 +28%)Fortescue |
13/2(+28%) | (3) Fortescue 13/2, Outpaced and raced lazily, unsuited by the way the race developed when comfortably held in a handicap chase at Doncaster last time. Trainer is in form; effective over 3m and further, appreciates cut, and has dropped significantly in the weights. Very useful staying chaser in his prime but regressive and inconsistent now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (9/4 +32%)Kayce Dutton |
9/4(+32%) | (5) Kayce Dutton 9/4, Improved when benefitting from a patient ride off a strong pace up in trip, landing a handicap by 3l off a 6lb lower mark here last time. Effective over 2m4f–3m, back in form, and unexposed as a stayer. Returned to form with C&D (soft) win from off the pace last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (18/1 +10%)Stratagem |
18/1(+10%) | (4) Stratagem 18/1, Made too much use of and was unsuited by soft ground when comfortably held in a handicap chase here last time. Visor is applied for the first time; enjoys making it, is effective over 2m4f–3m, but has struggled since a layoff. Struggled in veterans' chase here last month; eased in grade but still has a bit to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (22/1 -175%)Fuji Flight |
22/1(-175%) | (6) Fuji Flight 22/1, The yard won this race last year. Taken on up front and made too much use of when fourth, beaten 36l, in a handicap chase at Exeter last time. Returns from a short break; effective at 3m, now down to an attractive mark but remains inconsistent. Not the force of old but ran well for a long way in Exeter marathon in December. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Kayce Dutton made the most of a fierce pace when cutting through the field to score over C&D last time and needs considering, but IMPATIENT's Huntingdon victory in December was arguably more impressive. As long as the eight-year-old is in similar form, he will prove tough to beat. Smurfette ran better than her odds suggested when second at Uttoxeter on New Year's Eve and isn't ruled out either.

The suggestion is SMURFETTE (nap), who posted a career-best performance when close second to a progressive rival in December.

1st (3) (7/4 +88%)Kalkaroo |
7/4(+88%) | (3) Kalkaroo 7/4, Found little and ran below form when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Southwell last time. Effective over 2m to 2m2f and his mark is easing, but he needs to show more. Won juvenile hurdle in summer 2024; back from long layoff with two low-key runs this term. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (11/4 -69%)Mr Zee |
11/4(-69%) | (7) Mr Zee 11/4, Improved when landing a handicap by 3l at Wincanton last time off a 5lb lower mark. Enjoys making it, is effective around 2m, and is respected despite a higher mark. Just 2-18 over hurdles but looked back in prime form when scoring at Wincanton last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (12/1 -71%)Thesoldiersminit |
12/1(-71%) | (6) Thesoldiersminit 12/1, Again ran to a moderate level when well beaten in a maiden hurdle at Southwell latest. Usually held up and may do better now moving into handicaps. Unable to land a significant blow in his three qualifying races; handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (9/2 +63%)Aim Straight |
9/2(+63%) | (1) Aim Straight 9/2, Made mistakes and was disappointing on handicap debut when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Doncaster last time. Effective over 2m to 2m4f, but more is needed to defy this mark. Soundly beaten on handicap debut but showed promise beforehand and had wind op afterwards. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (28/1 +15%)Ramaah |
28/1(+15%) | (8) Ramaah 28/1, Too keen and below form when well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Huntingdon latest. Effective over 2m, but needs to find more to get off the mark. Fourth at big odds in new blinkers two starts ago but safely held since; look elsewhere. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (6/1 -50%)No Guarantee |
6/1(-50%) | (5) No Guarantee 6/1, A bit below his best when fifth, beaten 9l, off a new mark of 91 last time and is 1lb lower here. Effective over 2m to 2m2f, but a bounce back is needed. Won twice in December; only fifth behind Mr Zee last month but still ran well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (20/1 -122%)Model Approach |
20/1(-122%) | (2) Model Approach 20/1, A no-show from off the pace when finishing down the field in a handicap hurdle at Wincanton most recently. Usually held up, effective over 2m to 2m2f, but yet to deliver on juvenile promise. Well beaten all four starts for new stable this season but refitted headgear might help. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (14/1 -250%)Abbey Law |
14/1(-250%) | (4) Abbey Law 14/1, Ran to form under a penalty when fourth, beaten 22l, in a novice hurdle at Fontwell latest, possibly not staying the trip. Returning from a long layoff and a drop in trip looks a plus now handicapping. Maiden winner last April but absent since lesser run later that month; handicap debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

ABBEY LAW got off the mark over 2m at Fakenham last April prior to finishing a disappointing fourth over an extended 2m5f at Fontwell. There were excuses reported post-race that day and an opening mark of 91 might prove to be lenient. Mr Zee went in by three lengths at this level at Wincanton and is respected, despite having a 5lb higher rating to contend with. No Guarantee completes the shortlist.

This might go to MODEL APPROACH, who could be given a significant boost by the refitted headgear today.

9/2(-50%) | (5) Florita 9/2, Ran to form and did her best work late when fourth, beaten 13l, off 83 last time, and runs from the same mark here. Effective around 2m4f and handles soft and good ground. In form since switching to fences. Scored over C&D on penultimate start (chase debut) and has possibilities back here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (15/2 -50%)Chief Black Robe |
15/2(-50%) | (1) Chief Black Robe 15/2, Never threatened when fourth, beaten 42l, in a handicap chase at Chepstow last time. Usually held up in his races and returns off a short break. Effective over 2m4f–3m on a sound surface but needs to bounce back. Hasn't won since 2023 but can't be dismissed off current mark at this level. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (7/1 +0%)Everyonesacritic |
7/1(+0%) | (4) Everyonesacritic 7/1, Ran to form when third, beaten 9 1/2l, in a handicap chase at Fontwell on his most recent run. Effective at 2m4f and suited by some cut in the ground, handling good going. Dropping back towards a workable mark. May be ready to hit top form, being 3-3 in month of February (all his wins under rules). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (9/4 +44%)Grain Trade |
9/4(+44%) | (2) Grain Trade 9/4, Back to form beaten 3l off a 4lb lower mark at Huntingdon last time; effective 2m-2m4f, suited by sound surface; progressing over fences, can go well if ground not too soft. Won over C&D in October and solid second at Huntingdon most recently; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (9/4 +10%)Lone Soldier |
9/4(+10%) | (6) Lone Soldier 9/4, Travelled, outlasted when beaten a length off a 3lb lower mark here last time; effective 2m-3m, acts on S and GS; inconsistent, maiden for a reason. Still a maiden but ran well at Market Rasen most recently; may remain competitive. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (25/1 -127%)Beat The Edge |
25/1(-127%) | (7) Beat The Edge 25/1, Ran to form when fourth, beaten 9 1/4l, in a handicap chase at Catterick last time. Effective up to 2m5f and handles soft and good ground. Often finds little in the finish. Has a modest strike-rate and recent form isn't particularly convincing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (14/1 +22%)Ballywood |
14/1(+22%) | (3) Ballywood 14/1, Below form comfortably held in a handicap chase at Wetherby last time; off a short-break; effective 2m-2m4f, acts on S and G; remains without a win since 2019. Veteran who hasn't won for nearly seven years; opposed. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

LONE SOLDIER finished a long way clear of the third when beaten a length into second in this grade over 2m1f here last time and is just 3lb higher. The extra distance shouldn't pose any problems and it wouldn't be a surprise to see him go one better. Grain Trade's sole career success came over C&D and he has to be considered after his second at Huntingdon in December. Of the remainder, Everyonesacritic makes the most appeal.

It's the first day of February and all should be well with EVERYONESACRITIC who is unbeaten in the second month of the year.
Ths is the racecard key.

This is the 16:15 Kempton race from the video above backed at 28/1 earlier in the day.
Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
