8/13(+65%) | (2) Roccontier 8/13, Frontiersman gelding; half-brother to Fancy Foundations, very useful at 20f; top trainer who gets plenty of first time out winners; likely type. From a top yard and doesn't face a daunting standard on debut; highly respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (16/5 -97%)Guts And Glory |
16/5(-97%) | (5) Guts And Glory 16/5, Outpaced but rallied for promising debut when second beaten 3l in a Mares hurdle at Wetherby latest; effective 2m, acts on soft; can improve now upped in trip. Runner-up on hurdle debut at Wetherby 17 days ago; a player if replicating that effort. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (6/1 -140%)Cotton Socks |
6/1(-140%) | (1) Cotton Socks 6/1, Confirmed debut level 7l third in a juvenile bumper at Wetherby most recent run; off a short-break; effective at 2m, acts on soft, good to soft; should improve for hurdles. Placed in bumpers at Huntingdon and Wetherby late last year; respected switched to hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (11/1 +45%)Lets Go Mo |
11/1(+45%) | (6) Lets Go Mo 11/1, Outpaced, improved from debut comfortably held in a maiden hurdle here last time; effective 2m; may need more time. Showed some ability in her second bumper but hasn't built on it in two starts over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (80/1 +0%)Capla Resdev |
80/1(+0%) | (4) Capla Resdev 80/1, Never put into the race on debut when fourth beaten 62l in a 4yo hurdle at Doncaster latest; effective 2m, acts on soft; likely to need more time. Failed to threaten in two bumpers and beaten 62l on her hurdle debut at Doncaster. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (50/1 -52%)Winston's Oath |
50/1(-52%) | (3) Winston's Oath 50/1, Ran to form comfortably held in a 4yo bumper at Doncaster last time; effective 2m, acts on soft; bit more needed to get off the mark now hurdling. Out of the frame in three bumpers; improvement needed now making his hurdles debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Cotton Socks could prove popular here after finishing second and third in his two bumpers, and if he takes to hurdles he will be a force to be reckoned with. Guts And Glory ran well on her hurdling bow when second at Wetherby and with her 7lb fillies allowance she is hard to ignore, but a chance is taken on ROCCONTIER. Nicky Henderson's newcomer is a son of Frontiersman related to some decent sorts, and he may have too many gears for these rivals.

A couple of these have shown ability, but Nicky Henderson's well-related ROCCONTIER is taken to make a successful racecourse debut.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (300/1 -200%)The Kings Soldier |
300/1(-200%) | (6) The Kings Soldier 300/1, Jumping a little sketchy at times comfortably held in a maiden hurdle at Uttoxeter last time; showed promise in a bumper, plenty to prove over hurdles. Hasn't shown a great deal so far and is hard to fancy.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (25/1 +69%)Berks And Bucks |
25/1(+69%) | (1) Berks And Bucks 25/1, Pulled up in a maiden hurdle at Doncaster latest; off a short-break; plenty to prove. Showed some promise on second bumper start but pulled up on hurdles debut; bit to prove. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

The Dog Thief won his point-to-point and ran well on his debut under Rules for Tom Ellis when a 20-length second at Carlisle, weakening late on after racing up with the pace. He can go well but preference is for TOBYSHILL, a fellow point-to-point winner who finished fifth for the Twiston-Davies team at Ascot. Now with Nick Scholfield, he looks worth another chance in what appears to be a weaker contest. Plains Drifter is next best.

The Irish point winner TOBYSHILL is unexposed over hurdles and is taken to get off the mark on stable debut.

Sedgefield winner in November; below par recently; should fare better with headgear tried. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (25/1 +0%)Beat The Edge |
25/1(+0%) | (7) Beat The Edge 25/1, Never threatened well beaten in a handicap chase at Wetherby latest; hood first time; effective up to 2m5f, acts on soft, good; often finds little in finish. 2-40 over fences but placed on 20 occasions; not at best on last two runs; hood now tried. |

13/2(+28%) | (1) Ilot De L'isle 13/2, Ran to current form well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Taunton latest; trainer in form; effective at 2m2f, acts on heavy; French bumper and hurdles winner struggling since lay off; bounce back needed now switched to fences. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (5) (7/2 +50%)We Got Your Back |
7/2(+50%) | (5) We Got Your Back 7/2, Up in trip, didn't stay comfortably held in a handicap hurdle here last time; effective 2m, acts on soft and good; better over fences and drop in trip should suit; could bounce back. Has won 3 chases, latest in October; not at his best in the winter; on a fair mark now.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (6) (9/2 -29%)Lone Soldier |
9/2(-29%) | (6) Lone Soldier 9/2, Ran to form back down in trip 17l third in a handicap hurdle at Southwell most recent run; cheekpieces first time; effective 2m, acts on soft, good to soft; generally consistent maiden. 0-17; good second to an improver over C&D in January; below par since; cheekpieces tried. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Micky Hammond trained the winner of this race in 2024 and has chances once more here with Beat The Edge, who has won twice off higher marks and tries a first-time hood. ILOT DE L'ISLE makes his chasing debut having failed to sparkle over hurdles since arriving from France, and a mark of 95 looks generous if he takes to fences, while Lone Soldier is also of interest in first-time cheekpieces.

A chance is taken on DIXIE COWBOY returning to form with cheekpieces on for the first time. Grain Trade is next best.

16/1(+11%) | (1) Rose's Dart 16/1, Mistakes, found ground too testing well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Newcastle latest; tongue-tie first time; usually held up; effective 2 1/2m; had shown promise first couple of starts, poor of late. Well beaten in last three starts, but best efforts have come on good ground; tongue-tie on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (4/6 -33%)Natus Vincere |
4/6(-33%) | (3) Natus Vincere 4/6, Improved for cosy win under slightly more positive ride benefitting from reappearance landing a handicap by 2l off a 8lb lower mark at Huntingdon last time; effective over 2 1/2m, acts on soft and heavy; bit more to come. 4/1(+11%) | (2) Livano Bello 4/1, Made too much use of comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Sedgefield last time; in good form prior; effective 2 1/2m, acts on soft and good to soft; not ruled out. 0-10 over hurdles, but was placed four times last year; may need a stiffer test now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (10/3 +17%)Gms Prince |
10/3(+17%) | (4) Gms Prince 10/3, Travelled, ran to form just outstayed late up in trip comfortably held in a handicap hurdle here last time; usually held up; off a short-break; effective 2-2 1/4m, suited by good, acts on good to soft; in form, saves best for Market Rasen and looks a big player down in trip. 1-27 under rules, though the win came over C&D in September; should run his race. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (50/1 +24%)Macho Sun |
50/1(+24%) | (5) Macho Sun 50/1, Pulled up in a claiming hurdle at Catterick latest; trainer in form; usually held up; effective 2m; in poor form in both codes for some time. 0-26 under rules and hard to recommend from 6lb out of the weights. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Connections of Rose's Dart reach for a first-time tongue-tie in the hope of bringing out some improvement after not beating a rival home the last twice, but she does at least take a drop in grade. Livano Bello remains on a workable mark and is noted, but it's hard to get away from NATUS VINCERE. Olly Murphy's mare struck in ready fashion at Huntingdon last month and looks to have been found a good opportunity to complete a double.

There is a question mark over drying ground, but NATUS VINCERE is given the benefit of the doubt after last month's Huntingdon win.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (7/1 -75%)Top Guy |
7/1(-75%) | (5) Top Guy 7/1, Below form up in grade down the field in a handicap hurdle at Ascot most recent; in good form prior; effective 2 1/2-3m, acts on soft, good to soft; progressive until latest. In good form in the winter; latest effort needs forgiving, but a player if bouncing back. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (7/2 +56%)Rosie Baloo |
7/2(+56%) | (4) Rosie Baloo 7/2, Outpaced, ran to form but looked in need of stiffer test beaten 4l off this mark here last time; effective 2 1/2m, acts on soft and good; form has had knocks but progressing over hurdles, can do better up in trip. Has proved consistent so far; shapes as though this longer trip may suit; player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (15/8 +32%)Aire Spray |
15/8(+32%) | (6) Aire Spray 15/8, Needed every yard, ran to form landing a handicap by a nose off a 4lb lower mark here last time; effective around 2m4f-3m; consistent, latest win looks decent form. Won by a nose over C&D last month; 4lb higher, but still unexposed over this far. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (11/1 +0%)Grangeclare Diego |
11/1(+0%) | (3) Grangeclare Diego 11/1, Won this last year; pulled up in a handicap chase at Wetherby latest; off a short-break; effective 3m, acts on heavy but suited by good; mark stiff enough. Won this race from 4lb lower last year but pulled up in his only start (over fences) since. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Aire Spray was successful by the smallest of margins in this class at Market Rasen on his most recent start and has to be considered, but KEPPEL QUEEN recorded a much more emphatic victory at Carlisle. Despite not jumping well, the daughter of Black Sam Bellamy scooted clear to win by over nine lengths and, with a smoother round, she will prove a tough nut to crack. Rosie Baloo is another to keep a close eye on.

The selection is KEPPEL QUEEN (nap), who won with plenty of authority at Carlisle last month and can defy the 7lb rise.

5/2(-25%) | (4) Queens Wish 5/2, Ran to form 19l third in a handicap chase here most recent run; that form boosted in Eider; off a short-break; effective 2-3m, acts on good to soft and good; good mark on form for old yard over hurdles. Won a Southwell novice handicap chase in November; fair run over 3m3f last time; chance. |

4/1(-78%) | (2) Malaita 4/1, Back to form down in grade 6 1/4l third in a handicap chase at Ludlow most recent run; tongue-tie first time; enjoys making it; effective 2m4f-3m1f, best on decent ground; in form. Two wins over fences, both over 2m4f; fair 3rd in 2m4f mares' chase last time; a possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (11/2 +15%)Musique De Fee |
11/2(+15%) | (1) Musique De Fee 11/2, Made too much use of down the field in a handicap hurdle at Kempton most recent; enjoys making it; off a short-break; effective 3m, suited by sound surface; generally consistent over hurdles; yet to take to chasing but unexposed in this sphere; interesting. Five-time hurdle winner; fair form over fences; ground suits; interesting on stable debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Despite the small field this looks an open contest, with QUEENS WISH the most reliable after four top-three finishes in a row, including a win at Southwell in November. Third over further in the Lincolnshire National here on Boxing Day, she has been dropped 2lb and gets in off bottom weight. Overabottleofred unseated at the first at Taunton, but a repeat of her Huntingdon victory last April would give her a big say. Musique De Fee intrigues on her first start for Mickey Bowen.

An easy winner at Huntingdon last April, OVERABOTTLEOFRED is taken to beat Queens Wish, who is unexposed over fences.

(4) (5/2 -54%)Kalkaroo |
5/2(-54%) | (4) Kalkaroo 5/2, Scored by a short-head off a 2lb lower mark here penultimate start; every chance, ran to form third beaten 3l off 95 last time, 1lb lower here; effective 2m-2m2f, acts on good to soft and good; remains well treated on maiden form. 14/1(-367%) | (2) Iamyouare 14/1, Ran to form back from break on stable debut 7 1/4l third in a maiden hurdle at Bangor-on-Dee most recent run; effective 2m3f, acts on good and soft; could build on first start for yard now handicapping. Ex-Irish; creditable third in a mares' maiden on stable debut; interesting on h'cap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (66/1 +0%)Little Soiree |
66/1(+0%) | (5) Little Soiree 66/1, Pulled up in a handicap hurdle at Doncaster latest; off a short-break; effective 2m, acts on good; won weak race, inconsistent. Huntingdon winner for Chris Gordon in May; bought for £2,000 in July; below-par since. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

KALKAROO is the only course and distance winner in this line up after scoring by a short-head in February, and was far from disgraced when third at Plumpton, beaten three lengths at the line after racing on the pace before weakening late on. Dropped 1lb for that he could get back to winning ways at the expense of Iamyouare, who makes his handicap debut after finishing third at Bangor on her first start for Donald McCain. Trust House and Bunker Bay might do battle for the minor placing.

C&D winner KALKAROO is taken to win his second race of the season. The unexposed handicap debutant, Iamyouare, is next best.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
