13/8(+41%) | (2) Japetus 13/8, Rallied gamely for a very promising hurdle debut when winning a maiden hurdle here by 1/2l last time; effective at 2m and handles good to soft and good ground. Could be smart over hurdles, progressive, and likely to stay further. Dual bumper winner and narrowly made a successful hurdle debut over C&D last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (15/2 -67%)Quaviste |
15/2(-67%) | (6) Quaviste 15/2, From a yard that has won three of the last five renewals; unseated rider in a novice hurdle here latest when still going well. Effective at 2m on good to soft ground; highly tried in bumpers and could show improvement over hurdles for top yard May have won had he not unseated last time; receives 7lb from the previous winners. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

5/4(+0%) | (1) Four Springs 5/4, Very promising debut when winning a novice hurdle at Hereford by 3 1/2l last time; effective at 2m and handles good ground. 14/1(-87%) | (7) Red Rubio 14/1, Made a promising start when winning a maiden at Tattersalls Farm by 4l on debut; returns from a long layoff and will need to progress further to figure here on rules debut. Cosy winner of his sole Irish point in April; watch market on hurdle/stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (80/1 +0%)Sugar Road |
80/1(+0%) | (8) Sugar Road 80/1, Pulled up in a maiden hurdle at Southwell last time; had shown promise over 12f on the Flat but yet to prove stamina over hurdles and has something to prove at present. 0-7 on the Flat and not much in two starts over hurdles; others more convincing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (25/1 -178%)Korkoran |
25/1(-178%) | (5) Korkoran 25/1, Raced too freely and produced a modest debut after a wind operation when comfortably held in a novice hurdle at Lingfield last time; second run since the procedure and may do better now hurdling over a shorter trip. Won an Irish point last year, but has since disappointed in a bumper and a hurdle. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (7/1 +56%)Caliach Point |
7/1(+56%) | (3) Caliach Point 7/1, Showed improvement from debut when second, beaten 12l, in a novice hurdle at Doncaster latest; effective at 2m. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (200/1 -100%)Destination Unkown |
200/1(-100%) | (4) Destination Unkown 200/1, Keen and outpaced when finishing down the field in a handicap at Pontefract most recently; poor on the flat; faces a stiff task here and has plenty to find. Poor in four starts on the Flat for Grant Tuer; makes no appeal on stable/hurdles debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Quaviste was still in contention when falling here last month. He could bounce back representing a trainer that has won five of the last nine renewals, while Japetus won a maiden hurdle over C&D and also merits consideration, despite his penalty. However, a large chunk of FOUR SPRINGS' penalty is negated by his conditional rider's 5lb allowance, so Ben Pauling's charge is taken to confirm the promise of his emphatic victory at Hereford and go in again.

Preference is for FOUR SPRINGS who looks a nice type after his wins in an Irish point and a Hereford novice hurdle.

Made a winning chase debut at Warwick last time and form has been franked; major player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (7/2 -115%)Benmore |
7/2(-115%) | (4) Benmore 7/2, Did it cosily and improved from his debut, jumping much better to land a Leicester handicap by 3l off a 4lb lower mark last time; effective from 2m to 2m4f on good to soft or good ground; progressing well over fences and may still be ahead of his mark. May have been fortunate last time but is 2-2 in cheekpieces and has few miles on the clock. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (15/8 +66%)Clap Of Thunder |
15/8(+66%) | (2) Clap Of Thunder 15/8, Needed the run and travelled well for a long way when beaten 3 1/2l off a 1lb higher mark at Huntingdon last time; this is his second run after a wind operation and he looks on a good mark judged on consistent hurdle form; can make winning chase debut. Running consistently well in defeat since Ascot hurdle win; watch market on chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (9/1 +36%)Synchronist |
9/1(+36%) | (5) Synchronist 9/1, Outpaced but improved from his debut when 13l third in a Plumpton handicap chase last time; effective at 2m and may stay a little further on good to soft or good ground; yet to match his hurdle form. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (15/2 +17%)Maghlaak |
15/2(+17%) | (1) Maghlaak 15/2, Scored by a length off a 3lb lower mark at Southwell on his penultimate start; had too much to do but still ran to form when fourth, beaten 12l off 118 last time; effective from 2m to 2m4f on soft or good ground; in form but the mark demands more. 1-2 over fences; room for improvement in his jumping and dropping in trip may not be ideal. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (16/1 +11%)Gilbertina |
16/1(+11%) | (7) Gilbertina 16/1, Ran to form when fourth, beaten 8 1/2l, in a Newcastle handicap chase last time; cheekpieces go on for the first time; effective from 2m to 2m4f and suited by decent ground; inconsistent but goes well at Market Rasen. Ordinary efforts in two starts over fences and she may need further now; cheekpieces on. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Fourth over timber at Huntingdon recently, Clap Of Thunder will need to improve off his current mark on his first start over fences, but NORDIC TIGER looks more attractively weighted. Harry Derham's charge finished a respectable second at Ludlow on his chasing bow and, having won off a 2lb higher mark over hurdles, the six-year-old is set to make another bold bid. Benmore is preferred to Kykorock and Maghlaak of the recent winners.

This can go to KYKOROCK who did it nicely on his chase debut at Warwick last time and that form has been franked.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (15/2 +38%)A Law To Himself |
15/2(+38%) | (6) A Law To Himself 15/2, Outpaced and never threatened when well beaten in a maiden hurdle at Southwell last time; wears a tongue-tie for the first time; effective at 2m4f in points and acts on good ground; longer trip a plus but needs more. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (16/1 +27%)Renegade Arrow |
16/1(+27%) | (9) Renegade Arrow 16/1, From a yard that won this last year; suited by the step up in trip and probably needed the run when third, beaten 11l, in a handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter last time; cheekpieces first time after a long absence. Off 559 days; stable has taken two of the last five runnings; cheekpieces on. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

WELCHESTON WARRIER shaped well to finish third at Leicester on his return to action. The runner-up has subsequently boosted that form and the five-year-old looks on a workable mark on only his third start in a handicap. Gms Prince scored over a shorter trip here in September and could have a say in proceedings, while Roxby Belle has more scope than most and offered something to work on when third at Carlisle.

The vote goes to ROXBY BELLE (nap) who ran well when third at Carlisle last month. A couple of those in behind won their next starts.

This represents DELGANY DEADLINE's third start in a handicap and he could improve past his rivals. Dan Skelton's charge finished a fair fourth over an extended 2m3f at Chepstow on his return and may have more to offer over this longer trip. Orange Diamond has tasted success in three of his five outings for the Tom Ellis stable and put in another good display when second at Doncaster last time, so he has to be respected. Hawkseye View is the pick of the remainder.

Preference is for DELGANY DEADLINE who made a promising return at Chepstow last month and has run well over this far over hurdles.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (25/1 -56%)You Some Girl |
25/1(-56%) | (5) You Some Girl 25/1, Below her chase level when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Catterick last time. Effective up to 3m and acts on good ground; a major player back over hurdles. Unbeaten over fences and could figure on handicap debut. Unproven beyond 3m1f but she won her only previous race over fences. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Ali Star Bert won going away to complete a double at Southwell and boasts obvious claims, but QUEENS WISH's triumph at the same venue was arguably more impressive last month. The daughter of Shantou made her way through the field to score readily that day and may have been worth more than the winning margin suggests, so she can defy her 7lb rise. Red Delta completes the shortlist.

This looks open but THE BIG BREAC should run well for last year's winning stable. He's an assured stayer and jumps well.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (4/1 +60%)Nowmelad |
4/1(+60%) | (2) Nowmelad 4/1, From a yard that won this last year, ran to form when second beaten 5 1/2l in a handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter, where the race was dominated from the front. 13/2(+28%) | (4) The Long Walk 13/2, Pulled up in a handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter last time after a short break. Effective at around 2 1/2m on soft and good ground. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (11/2 +21%)Ghasham |
11/2(+21%) | (8) Ghasham 11/2, Ran to form when third beaten 4l in a handicap hurdle at Worcester on his latest outing after a short break. Effective over 2m to 2 1/2m on soft and good ground. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (9/2 -50%)Secret Vino |
9/2(-50%) | (9) Secret Vino 9/2, Improved again when dropping in class to win a handicap by 1 1/2l off a 7lb lower mark at Southwell last time. Effective at 2m and may do even better over slightly further. Progressing since going handicapping but needs more again. Up 7lb, but shaped as though a longer trip would suit when winning last time; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (15/2 -200%)As Fast As Wind |
15/2(-200%) | (7) As Fast As Wind 15/2, Won by 3l off a 7lb lower mark at Kempton three starts ago. Stays well and may appreciate a testing 12f, effective at 2m over hurdles on soft and good ground. Form has been franked and she remains progressive. Has proved consistent this year; the slight drop in trip should suit; high on the list. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (22/1 -10%)Ballygeary |
22/1(-10%) | (3) Ballygeary 22/1, A bit free and comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Doncaster last time. Effective at 2 1/2m on soft and good ground. On a workable mark but currently out of form. 3lb below his last winning mark but recent efforts need improving upon. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (22/1 -10%)Belle Le Grand |

Likes to make the running and is effective at 2m on good to soft and good ground. Looks fairly treated on her novice win and should relish this longer trip so holds strong claims. Contrasting form lately; tendency to jump/hang left would be a concern on this track. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Despite Jack Andrews dropping his reins at a vital stage, SECRET VINO still managed to score by over a length at Southwell last month and is now 7lb higher. The step back up in trip could bring out the improvement required to go in again. Nowmelad occupied the runner-up berth at this level at Uttoxeter earlier this month and has to be respected, despite a 2lb higher mark. Smart Decision has only been defeated twice in six starts and is considered on handicap debut.

The choice is SECRET VINO who suggested that returning to further would suit when he got off the mark over 2m at Southwell last month.
Ths is the racecard key.
