1st (3) (9/1 +50%)Onlyforfrankie |
9/1(+50%) | (3) Onlyforfrankie 9/1, Improved to get off the mark, scored with bit in hand when winning a maiden hurdle at Taunton by 17l last time; effective 2m on GS and G; more to come but needed in this. Faced a straightforward task last time; this is a stiffer assignment. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (1/3 +33%)Mossy Fen Road |
1/3(+33%) | (2) Mossy Fen Road 1/3, Went clear with ease and impressed under a positive ride when winning a novice hurdle at Chepstow by 8 1/2l last time. Effective at 2m on soft and good to soft, he is a really promising sort with festival aspirations. Record of 4-5 overall and 2-2 over hurdles; impressive last time; clear top on ratings. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (33/1 -83%)Smoke Trail |
33/1(-83%) | (4) Smoke Trail 33/1, Too free when upped in class, finishing 15l third in the Introductory Hurdle at Haydock on his most recent run. Effective at 2m on good to soft, debut form has been franked, though he may need further in time. May still do better but faces a difficult task on ratings as things stand. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (1) (7/2 -56%)Captain Hugo |
7/2(-56%) | (1) Captain Hugo 7/2, Ran to form when aided by a late faller in winning a novice hurdle at Haydock by 2 1/2l last time. Effective at 2m on good to soft and good, he looks progressive but faces no easy task against the favourite. Solid record reads 21121; the ratings suggest he's set for another top-two finish. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

MOSSY FEN ROAD was particularly impressive under a 6lb penalty when scoring at Chepstow just after Christmas and Harry Derham's charge makes plenty of appeal to cement his position to head towards the Supreme next month. Captain Hugo was turned over on his penultimate start by Taurus Bay, who subsequently placed in a Grade 2 at Cheltenham. He is likely to pose the most solid threat, while Onlyforfrankie and Smoke Trail appear closely matched in the battle for third.

Top-rated MOSSY FEN ROAD looks set to reign supreme in the Scottish Supreme en route to an intended crack at the Cheltenham Supreme.

1st (2) (7/2 +22%)Go West |
7/2(+22%) | (2) Go West 7/2, The yard won this race last year. Unable to dominate when making too much use of when 51l third in a handicap chase at Kempton latest; enjoys making it, effective around 2m4f, and capable but needs to bounce back. Form dipped last time but otherwise a largely progressive sort; may well rebound. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (7/1 +0%)Elysian Knight |
7/1(+0%) | (5) Elysian Knight 7/1, Never jumped or travelled when pulled up in a handicap chase at Chepstow last time. Off a short break, he is effective around 2m4f on a sound surface, but his jumping must improve over fences. Let down by his jumping on chase/seasonal debut; needs to find greater fluency. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (9/2 -29%)Queens Gamble |
9/2(-29%) | (3) Queens Gamble 9/2, Needed the run on chase debut when 23l third in the Yorton Mares' Novices' Chase (Listed) at Bangor-on-Dee last time. Off a short break, she is effective at 2m and should come on for that reappearance. Retains potential in this sphere, being a dual Listed winner (bumper/hurdle); big player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (14/1 +13%)Bold Light |
14/1(+13%) | (6) Bold Light 14/1, Below form when well beaten in a handicap hurdle here last time. Effective over 2m–2m4f with cut in the ground, but needs more now that he switches to chasing. Not solid on hurdles form this term; the only runner who lacks chasing experience. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (4) (7/4 +22%)Dedicated Hero |
7/4(+22%) | (4) Dedicated Hero 7/4, Back to form on chase debut when second, beaten 2l, in a novice chase at Ayr latest. Effective at 2m and more to come over fences, judged on previous hurdle form. Ran promisingly at Ayr switched to chasing last time and looks open to progress; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (1) (11/2 -10%)Intense Approach |
11/2(-10%) | (1) Intense Approach 11/2, Made too much use of when comfortably held in a novice chase at Cheltenham last time. Off a short break, he is effective over 2m4f–3m and suited by good ground, but must bounce back and would not want rain. Won at the Galway festival on chase debut; disappointing last time but not written off. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Go West's Doncaster second was boosted by the winner following up at Cheltenham's Trials Day last week but Paul Nicholls' gelding needs to bounce back from a disappointing effort at Kempton. Therefore, the vote goes to DEDICATED HERO. A Grade 2 winner over hurdles at Haydock last January, he made a promising start over fences when runner-up at Ayr last month and is entitled to build on that display. Intense Approach is clearly better than what he showed at Cheltenham in October and this run would qualify him for the Jack Richards at the Cheltenham Festival.

The bare form of his promising Ayr effort suggests that DEDICATED HERO is very well treated. Queens Gamble is second pick.

1st (7) (2/1 +33%)Pure Carbon |
2/1(+33%) | (7) Pure Carbon 2/1, Scored by 1/4l off a 6lb lower mark at Huntingdon on his penultimate start, before unseating early last time. Off a short break and effective at 2m-2m2f, he suits a sound surface, but rain would hinder his chance. Novice chaser who remains of interest, with further progress still possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (9/1 -29%)Aeros Luck |
9/1(-29%) | (2) Aeros Luck 9/1, Ran to form when second, beaten 16l, in a novice chase at Kelso last time. Effective at around 2m and suited by good or good to soft ground, but any rain would not be in his favour. Only 1-12 over fences but returns to handicap level off a handy mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (1/1 +43%)Koukeo |
1/1(+43%) | (4) Koukeo 1/1, Travelled strongly and did it readily when improving to land a handicap by 1/4l off a 6lb lower mark at Haydock last time. Effective at 2m-2m6f, with more to come over fences and capable of completing a hat-trick. Record of 3-6 since handicapping and 2-2 since switched to fences; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (15/2 +38%)Parisencore |
15/2(+38%) | (1) Parisencore 15/2, Outpaced when fourth, beaten 16l, in a handicap chase at Bangor-on-Dee last time. Returning from a long layoff and effective at 2m-2m4f, with his best form on a sound surface, but this test may not suit. Lacks recent match practice and needs to prove he retains peak ability. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (18/1 -80%)Chapel Green |
18/1(-80%) | (6) Chapel Green 18/1, Pulled up in a handicap chase at Newcastle last time and returns from a short break. Effective at 2m-2m6f and best on a sound surface, but others look stronger and rain would be a negative. Something to prove back up in grade; has done all his winning in Class 4. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

KOUKEO won well on his chasing bow at Windsor on New Year's Day and handled an 8lb rise when backing up at Haydock. The six-year-old is expected to have more to offer in this discipline and remains on a workable mark after a 6lb rise. Pure Carbon is worth another chance after unseating early on at Ludlow in November having won at Huntingdon the time before. Aeros Luck heads the remainder.

The Verdict comprises the novice chasers KOUKEO, Pure Carbon and Aeros Luck in that order of preference.

14/1(0%) | (10) O'faolains Glory 14/1, Improved again when landing a handicap by 5l here last time, racing off a 5lb lower mark. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (10/1 -82%)Summergrounds |
10/1(-82%) | (4) Summergrounds 10/1, Improved again when beaten 3l at Sedgefield last time, racing off a 2lb lower mark. Suited by 2m4f, acts on good to soft and good ground, and is both progressive and consistent. Veteran who remains consistent; getting no respite from the assessor but looks solid. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (11/2 +31%)The Hatchet |
11/2(+31%) | (3) The Hatchet 11/2, Made too much use of but ran to form 6 1/4l third in a novice hurdle at Ayr most recent run; off a short-break; effective 2m on S and GS; this looks a fair opening on handicap debut. Still unexposed; new trip is worth exploring; interesting handicap debutant. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (25/1 0%)Charlie's Dilemma |
25/1(0%) | (1) Charlie's Dilemma 25/1, Pulled up in a maiden hurdle at Thurles on his latest start and is returning from a long absence. Effective at 2m4f-3m and best on a sound surface, though he does act on soft, and may need this run. Irish maiden who has been absent since November 2024; market can guide. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (6) (10/3 +58%)Newtown Rambler |
10/3(+58%) | (6) Newtown Rambler 10/3, Bit too free but ran to form well beaten in a handicap chase at Listowel latest; trainer in form; returning from a break; effective around 2m4f, best on sound surface; might be happier back hurdling. Interesting on debut for Adrian Keatley, who has started 2026 with a bang. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) (16/1 +20%)Young Merlin |
16/1(+20%) | (8) Young Merlin 16/1, The yard won this race last year, but he ran below form when comfortably held in a new headgear combination at Newcastle last time. Effective at 2m-2m4f on soft ground and has dropped to a workable mark. Losing sequence is mounting up; not the percentage call. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (5) (50/1 -100%)Bois Guillbert |
50/1(-100%) | (5) Bois Guillbert 50/1, Made mistakes, was outpaced and failed to take to the cheekpieces when comfortably held in a handicap chase at Haydock last time. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (13) (18/1 -200%)The Toothpicker |
18/1(-200%) | (13) The Toothpicker 18/1, Finished down the field in a handicap hurdle at Down Royal on his most recent run. 22/1(-57%) | (2) How About No 22/1, Ran a bit below form when fourth, beaten 11l, in a higher-grade handicap hurdle at Haydock last time. Effective around 2m with cut in the ground and is generally a consistent performer. Largely consistent but needs progress to land this competitive handicap. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Adam Nicol has his string in fine fettle at present and SPEIRIUIL could provide another winner. The six-year-old supplemented a good second over C&D when holding on to score at Kelso in December and a 5lb rise is effectively negated by Joshua Thompson's 5lb claim. Summergrounds is aiming to break a sequence of runner-up efforts, but should give another good account, while handicap debutant The Hatchet catches the eye stepping up in distance.

With his C&D effort franked by the winner since, THE G WIZARD (nap) looks particularly solid. Newtown Rambler is second pick.

1st (3) (9/2 +18%)Transmission |
9/2(+18%) | (3) Transmission 9/2, Was outpaced and unsuited by the track when well beaten in the Silver Cup Handicap Chase at Ascot last time. Further suits him better and he is on a workable mark, though rain would be a negative. Player on last season's form but needs a revival; new visor replaces cheekpieces. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (2/1 +20%)Rock My Way |
2/1(+20%) | (1) Rock My Way 2/1, Made mistakes and ran below form when eighth, beaten 33l, in a higher-grade handicap off 140 last time. Now 1lb lower. Effective over 3m-4m and consistent prior to that, though the handicapper may have caught up. Disappointed in Welsh National but breezed home 11l in front at Ascot (3m5f) time before. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (8/1 +27%)Bodhisattva |
8/1(+27%) | (6) Bodhisattva 8/1, Again ran below form when well beaten in a handicap chase at Kelso last time. Returns from a short break. Effective over 3m-4m, but it is nearly three years since his last win. 6lb lower than when 2nd in this last year; shaped as if in need of race on reappearance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (6/1 -20%)Grozni |
6/1(-20%) | (4) Grozni 6/1, Returned to his best despite jumping right when winning a handicap by 2l off a 5lb lower mark at Kelso last time. Back from a short break and effective over 3m-4m, he has a chance if repeating that effort. Borders National win at Kelso (4m, soft) in December was best form for nearly two years. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (10/1 +9%)Inis Oirr |
10/1(+9%) | (8) Inis Oirr 10/1, Mistakes, outpaced, continued in poor form well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Haydock latest; further the better, wants longer trips than 3m, sound surface suits; out of form but return to fences could suit. Runaway winner of this in 2024 off 6lb higher; disappointing since and can't be trusted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (7) (7/2 +42%)Forged Well |
7/2(+42%) | (7) Forged Well 7/2, Improved to get off the mark over fences landing a handicap by 5l off a 7lb lower mark here last time; effective 2m4f-3m, acts on S and G; more to come at this trip. Third chase start when winning in good style here (2m7f, good to soft) six weeks ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (18/1 -29%)Cadell |
18/1(-29%) | (2) Cadell 18/1, Ran below form when pulled up at Kelso last time, with the ground too soft. Returns from a short break. Effective at around 3m-3m2f and capable, but would not want much rain. Kelso wins in March (3m2f) and November (2m7f) were the only times he ran well last year. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

Although he could only finish eighth in the Welsh National, ROCK MY WAY is likely to prove far more competitive on this drop in class. Joe Tizzard's charge had previously romped home at this level at Ascot and there are still some good days to be had. Borders National hero Grozni isn't taken lightly given his current vein of form and a 5lb higher mark shouldn't prevent another bold bid, while Transmission is interesting in a first-time visor.

Topweight ROCK MY WAY may bounce back from the Welsh National. Grozni, Magna Sam and Forged Well look the chief dangers.

Good placed efforts at about 3m on his last four outings and fully effective at this track. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (14) (22/1 -22%)Bel Amigo |
22/1(-22%) | (14) Bel Amigo 22/1, Ran to form when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle here last time. Effective at 2m-2m4f and generally consistent, though others may have stronger recent credentials. Front-runner; this new trip asks a big question; he's also 5lb out of the handicap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (6) (15/2 -50%)Sonigino |
15/2(-50%) | (6) Sonigino 15/2, Yard has won two of the last nine runnings of this race. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (1) (28/1 -75%)Ahoy Senor |
28/1(-75%) | (1) Ahoy Senor 28/1, Winner of two Grade 1s; stopped quickly when comfortably held in the Long Distance Hurdle (Grade 2) at Newbury last time. Enjoys making it, is effective at 3m with cut, and returns off a short break, though appears regressive. Second attempt back hurdling; thrown in if he can even remotely get his act together. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

DOUBLE POWERFUL is a smart handicap hurdler and got back on track following a mediocre stint over fences and a mishap at Cheltenham when finishing second in the Lanzarote at Kempton last time. On that evidence, he's very much the one to beat. Of the others, course scorer Florida Dreams should run his usual honest race and is noted along with Sonigino.

The vote goes to DOUBLE POWERFUL who emerged in third of 17 over this trip at the Aintree festival last April.

25/1(-25%) | (6) Evenwood Sonofagun 25/1, Again below form when finishing down the field in a handicap hurdle at Catterick most recently. Usually held up; effective up to 3m on a sound surface and now 3lb below his last winning mark. Started the campaign in good form; inconsistent since. |

8th (7) (20/1 +0%)Dunnet Head |
20/1(+0%) | (7) Dunnet Head 20/1, Pulled up in a handicap chase at Newcastle on his latest start. Effective over 2m-2m6f on soft or good to soft ground but recent form has tailed off against less exposed rivals. Poor claims on his form for new stable. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

A tricky finale for punters to solve and just a tentative vote is for DEARKEITHANDKATY, who is unexposed in handicaps and produced his best effort so far when a neck second at Carlisle in November. The step up in trip should suit and he's been freshened up, which is another positive. Lizzie Luna, Take Chance and C&D winner Reflection Of You are others to bear in mind.

With additional progress plausible upped further in trip, DEARKEITHANDKATY is taken to open his account. Take Chance is second pick.
Ths is the racecard key.
