12:38 Musselburgh (Class 4) 19f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Pojnt-to-point winner JUDICIAL DEFERENCE made a pleasing start for his new yard with a good second in a maiden hurdle at Bangor last month. That run, which came on the back of a wind operation, should have taught him plenty and he could kick on here. The G Wizard and Abbey Scope are also heading in the right direction and support for either in the betting would need to be taken seriously.

A race of this nature looks well within the capabilities of THE G WIZARD who has been competitive in both his maidens.

13:08 Musselburgh (Class 4) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

BENEFIT BEN made every yard of the running to win in a game manner over an extended 2m7f here a fortnight ago and could again be tough to overhaul. Okavango Delta is a dual C&D winner that also warrants close inspection, while the low-milage Mountain Molly could have a big say if replicating her Perth form at this venue. Kadjar Des Mottes is also dangerous to underestimate, despite failing to complete last time.

The mare MOUNTAIN MOLLY is the only one with no chasing experience but she won her only point and has improved over hurdles this year.

13:38 Musselburgh (Class 5) 15f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

BATHGATE has flourished lately and could be well placed to follow up after winning cosily at Sedgefield a couple of weeks ago. Given he wasn't fully extended to win that race, a 6lb higher rating should be manageable if a third run in December doesn't take a toll. John Betjeman defeated the selection by a length and a half at the same venue last month and can be a thorn in his side again, although he is 8lb higher. Gemini Man and Gonnino are each-way options.

Slight preference is for NATIONAL QUESTION who should be happier on this surface than the soft ground he encountered last time.

14:08 Musselburgh (Class 4) 23f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

SPECIAL RATE failed to fire in a valuable event at Cartmel when last seen in June, but his previous third at the same venue gives him a big chance in a race of this nature. Swallows Song could make the frame if finding some improvement for first-time cheekpieces, while Too Cool Forshrule and Inis Oirr are others to keep an eye on.

All of these come with risks. The problem with INIS OIRR is his inconsistency but he did go very close two starts back.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

LEADER WING was only beaten a short-head when second over C&D earlier in the month and the first-time application of a visor can help the five-year-old to go one better on this occasion, despite a 3lb rise. Beat The Retreat scored at Ayr three weeks ago and another good run can be expected here, while Lizzie Luna is best of the rest.

It's worth chancing ASA (nap) who hinted at Kelso that a revival may well be near and that was in a higher grade over shorter.

(2) Executive Producer 18/1, Confirmed debut promise when third beaten 14l in a maiden point at Castletown-Geoghegan last time. Returns from a long absence with a first-time tongue-tie; needs to improve on rules debut.
Ran well to be third in an Irish point (3m, yielding) in October 2024.

(1) Circle Of Steel 3/1, Beaumec De Houelle gelding; first foal; dam a French hurdles and chase winner from 2m to 2m5f. Won't need to be anything special to make a winning debut for a top yard.
First foal out of a French 2m-2m5f hurdle/chase winner; likely contender for strong yard.

(4) Hawthorn Road 5/2, Berkshire gelding; dam an unraced half-sister to two winning hurdlers and out of a half-sister to the very smart chaser Hey Big Spender. Probably best watched on debut.
Newcomer; stable gets bumper winners so one to note in the betting.

15:08 Musselburgh (Class 4) 15f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Forever Louie should put his experience to good use after his sixth at Catterick a month ago. That said, preference is for KILARO, who won an English point for this jockey in November and he could make a winning debut under Rules. Return To Florida edges out Circle Of Steel to be the pick of the remainder.

Circle Of Steel is interesting but a chance is taken on RETURN TO FLORIDA for whom Brian Hughes looks a notable booking.
