There were 50 Races on Friday 28th June 2024 across 7 meetings. There was 7 races at Doncaster, 7 races at Cartmel, 7 races at Yarmouth, 8 races at Newcastle, 7 races at Newmarket, 7 races at Bangor, 7 races at Curragh, no doubt Tomform helped you find a winner.
The data in the racecards below is for the past year. View the racecard key.

Trainer Tim Easterby and jockey Thomas Easterby have won both runnings of this race and have a chance with Jewel Maker although, as a nine-year-old, there is unlikely to be much improvement to come. Wheres The Crumpet could go well for her in-form jockey, but HUMBLE SPARK is due to go up to a 2lb higher figure for future races and, with a C&D win in April, he may be able to double his career tally.

HUMBLE SPARK ticks plenty of boxes as he returns to the scene of his breakthrough win, with the form of his subsequent Hamilton second over further working out really well (3 of the first 5 home won next time). Breguet Boy and Isle of Wolves are high on the shortlist.

Jim Goldie's HUMBLE SPARK is coming along nicely and on another day could easily have followed up his course win at Hamilton.
Class & Speed Card
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Phoenix Star has won five times over C&D now and deserves plenty of respect, but four were off lower marks and he may have to settle for a place in this field. ELEGANT ERIN drops a grade after her second at Carlisle on the turf and if she improves for recent wind surgery, she might be able to make the most of her high draw to come home in front. Thornaby Pearl and recent Hamilton winner Newyorkstateofmind are others to consider in a competitive contest.

NELSON GAY looks to be peaking and could follow up his victory on this card last year with Connor Beasley back up for the first time. Elegant Erin and Rory are a couple of the other likely contenders.

It may be worth taking a chance with dual C&D winner CASTAN who is back off the same mark as when successful here in March.
Class & Speed Card
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

Vintage Clarets won this last year but hasn't been at his best recently and races off a lower mark for future contests. He may still get involved but if Grace McEntee can get a tune out of NAVELLO again, he could go close after winning two races already this year. All out to prevail at Windsor under William Buick, he has been put up 2lb but his jockey claims 3lb back. Brazen Bolt has won here four times, but might have to settle for a place off his current mark.

Always a good sprint handicap and last year's winner VINTAGE CLARETS (1-1 on AW) could go in again. Prince of Zenda and the admirable Copper Knight, who won this in 2018 and was second in 2019, are a couple of the obvious dangers.

Although 7lb higher than when winning this race last year, the vote goes to VINTAGE CLARETS as that was his only previous AW start.
Class & Speed Card

After a very unlucky second in the Princess Elizabeth Stakes at Epsom, a chance is taken on CHIC COLOMBINE to go one better. George Boughey's filly was beaten just a neck after being denied a clear run at a key stage of that Group 3 and she was successful on her only other start at this venue last year. Tiffany won in easy fashion in Listed company over 1m3f at Baden-Baden on her return and she is likely to be running on powerfully at the line. German 1000 Guineas heroine Darnation also commands respect.

TIFFANY can boast a superb strike rate and looks more than ready for this higher grade following her commanding reappearance in listed company in Germany a month ago. Chic Colombine was probably an unlucky loser at Epsom and is a huge threat if lasting out over this trip, with Darnation already proved at this level.

This looks to be between Darnation and TIFFANY (nap). The former has the class, but the latter already has winning form over C&D.

Distinction defied a 6lb rise in the ratings to complete a double over the extended 1m at Beverley, but a further 5lb penalty may halt his progression. Therefore, a chance is taken on ARCHDUKE FERDINAND, who was beaten just a short head over 7f at this venue three starts ago and the return to Tapeta could help get him back on track. Handicap debutant Perfectly Timed is also worthy of consideration.

A winner on the AW on second start, PERFECTLY TIMED upped his game again when second in a Brighton novice that worked out well a month ago. With that in mind, his mark looks lenient fitted with cheekpieces for the first time. Distinction is more exposed but is thriving at present, with Utlis also considered.

In an open handicap a chance is taken on ALETHIOMETER who has the form to be a major player and her record fresh is encouraging.

After shedding her maiden tag at the second time of asking over 1m at Haydock, this appears a good opportunity for THEWIND CRIES MARY to follow up. Ed Bethell's filly won more cosily than the neck distance might suggest on that occasion and she can put her experience to good use. Bothar has also shaped as if he will be winning races on his two starts to date and he is feared most, while Germanic is also noted.

THEWIND CRIES MARY built on her promising debut run when taking a 4-runner Haydock novice (1m) 5 weeks ago and she rates the most solid option here with the prospect of more to come. Bothar and Germanic are another pair of likely improvers who can also figure.

The selection is THEWIND CRIES MARY who already has the form on the board having won a Haydock novice last time.

TEN POUNDS caught the eye when keeping on for fourth as he made a highly encouraging debut at Newbury and, with improvement expected, Harry Charlton's charge may be able to get off the mark. Placed on each of his last two starts over further at Nottingham, Washeek can give him the most to think about, while newcomer Walson's Law is a half-brother to the useful Air To Air. Baraq and Chiellini are capable of being in the shake-up as well.

TEN POUNDS was sent off at long odds but showed plenty of ability when fourth in a big field Newbury novice on debut 6 weeks ago. That looks solid form, and with progress on the cards, he's fancied to build on that and come out on top here. George Boughey newcomer Walson's Law and Baraq are others to consider, as is Washeek, who lines up here with first-time cheekpieces enlisted.

Harry Charlton's TEN POUNDS caught the eye with his finishing effort at Newbury and represents a yard that is going well.

A winner at Ayr in May, WARMINSTER is better than he showed at Carlisle most recently and having run well here before, this looks like a decent opportunity to notch up a third career success. Gidwa was down the field at Thirsk on Monday, but he is a capable sort. Fircombe Hall was a comfortable winner on his last start over this C&D, while others to note include Dandy Spirit, Global Humor and Port And Starburd.

This is a particularly poor race and, while he failed to beat a rival at Musselburgh last time, it's worth taking a chance on FIRCOMBE HALL to make a winning return to this track (has an excellent record here). All of the others arrive out of form but Warminster could bounce back, so he's regarded as the main danger.

It's difficult to warm to any of these. NOTION IN MOTION is at least lightly raced and ran his best race for his former yard here.
Ths is the racecard key.
