10th (8) (66/1 -450%)Lightening Company |
66/1(-450%) | (8) Lightening Company 66/1, Ran to form, should have finished closer when beaten 2l off 72 at Pontefract last time; effective 10-12f, acts on all-weather; respected up 2lb after latest. Poor on latest C&D run, but sound run when second last time; others appeal more. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Jez Bomb had the subsequent winner Without Compromise back in second when scoring over C&D last month. He could feature again, despite a 6lb rise, but PROJECT GEOFIN is taken to edge an open contest. Geoff Oldroyd's charge finished a solid second in a tougher contest than this at Redcar and a similar effort could see him resume winning ways back on this surface. Lightening Company is not out of it either.

The in-form pair of WITHOUT COMPROMISE and Jez Bomb appeal most with the former taken to come out best this time.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (1/2 +67%)Leonetto |
1/2(+67%) | (2) Leonetto 1/2, Made a modest debut when the ground was too deep and was well beaten in a maiden at Doncaster. Closely related to 10f Nassau winner Lady Bowthorpe and could leave that run behind. Well bred and possibly simply failed to cope with heavy ground on turf debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (5/1 -82%)Joud |
5/1(-82%) | (3) Joud 5/1, 13 Apr; 62,000gns St Mark's Basilica filly; half-sister to Star Storm, high-class at 12f; dam moderate at 7f; trainer in form and respected on debut. Newcomer with useful pedigree; yard also responsible for City Of Dreams. |

Half-brother to Group 2 Flying Childers winner Aesterius and can improve from that initial run. In need of experience when well held on last week's C&D debut; needs to have come on a lot. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

LEONETTO showed early pace at Doncaster on debut before the testing ground took its toll in the closing stages. A half-brother to Group 1 winner Lady Bowthorpe, the son of Frankel will likely find this surface more to his liking and he may well have a say in the finish. Kevin Stott abandons City Of Dreams for stablemate and newcomer Joud. The latter is related to three winners, while Loquella is another debutant to note.

It's possible LEONETTO simply got stuck in the mud on debut and this well-bred Frankel colt is given another chance.

125/1(-150%) | (8) Palazzo Ducale 125/1, Modest debut effort when well beaten in a novice at Haydock. Shows some speed in the pedigree and may do better in lower-grade handicaps later on. 20l sixth of seven when 50-1 on last month's Haydock debut; looks a long-term prospect. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

80/1(-60%) | (13) Royal Sizzler 80/1, Moderate debut in a hood when well beaten in a novice over 9f at Redcar. Dam Listed-placed 7f winner; may do better once handicapping. Well beaten at 125-1 on debut at Redcar last month; marked improvement needed. |

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

EDDAARI has shown enough in a couple of starts on the turf to suggest he should go close at this lower level. Third at Nottingham last month, he can build on that promising effort with Jack Callan's allowance in his favour. Mythical Bay is a likely improver having encountered soft going at Bath on debut, while Joyful Lawyer represents Karl Burke's powerful yard and is the first foal out of a winner on the all-weather.

The Gosdens have a good record here and DIRECTOR'S CUT, who showed promise on his Wolverhampton debut, is taken to get off the mark.

7/1(+13%) | (9) Fantastic Fox 7/1, Below form back on AW when beaten 6l in a Southwell handicap last time. Best at 8f; better on AW nowadays; easing in the weights but with reason. Below par recent starts but has good C&D record and he's dropped to a dangerous mark. |

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Joolianoss was a revelation at the beginning of the year and it will be interesting to see how ready he is for this reappearance. In contrast, UNASSUMING was seen in action just last week, when pipped over 7f here. The return to a mile is very much in her favour and the decision to get her out again before her revised rating kicks in can pay dividends. Rainbow Nebula and First Ambition are just two others to consider in a competitive affair.

Although FANTASTIC FOX hasn't won for a while his C&D record is good and he's well treated if a return to Newcastle sparks a revival.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (5) (50/1 -213%)Kyber Crystal |
50/1(-213%) | (5) Kyber Crystal 50/1, Scored by 1/2l off 55 at Pontefract on her penultimate start but was below form up in trip last time. Effective at 5f and acts on the all-weather. Needs to bounce back in a first-time visor. Failed to beat a rival in 6f Redcar handicap 23 days ago; visor is reached for now. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Bibendum beat Henery Hawk to the runner-up spot over track and trip, and he didn't get a clear run next time so that effort is best forgiven. Desert Champion burst back into life when second over C&D, on the same card that Pockley let favourite-backers down over 6f. The latter will be happier back at the minimum trip, but it might pay to take a chance on RAMON DI LORIA, who made the frame over 6f last week but was successful over this C&D as recently as September.

Paul Midgley's DESERT CHAMPION took a big step forward in refitted headgear when runner-up over C&D a week ago and can go one better now

7th (3) (15/2 +63%)Wolf Of Badenoch |
15/2(+63%) | (3) Wolf Of Badenoch 15/2, Again well below form when finishing down the field in a 10f handicap at Redcar most recently. Usually held up. Effective at 7f and handles all-weather surfaces. Hard to fancy on recent evidence. Won for Hugo Palmer on debut last year (7f, good to soft) but disappointing since. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Ryan Kavanagh was seen to good effect on UNITING at Kempton last week, with Ian Williams' three-year-old showing a good attitude to break his duck. He escapes a penalty and, with his confidence presumably buoyed, he can follow up. Hale End has been freshened up following a busy summer and remains on a handy mark. Gressington has claims if judged on his C&D second at the start of the month, rather than his subsequent Southwell display.

Although Uniting is 3lb well in after his apprentice race win last week, slight preference is for GRESSINGTON.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (4) (10/1 +44%)Rogue Allegiance |
10/1(+44%) | (4) Rogue Allegiance 10/1, Below form tried in a hood when down the field in a handicap at Kempton most recently. Effective at 6f and acts on all-weather; headgear removed now, eased a few pounds. Easy C&D debut win last December but disappointing in three runs since. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

HEAVENLY HEATHER appreciated the return to 6f when finding only one too good in a stronger event here 10 days ago. She sprung a massive shock off a higher mark here back in April and Tracy Waggott's filly gets another chance. Secret Guest was alongside the selection in third last week and could be thereabouts once again, while Marching Mac landed a brace on soft ground last month and steps up in trip with a shout.

A case can be made for plenty of these, with a narrow vote going the way of last week's C&D runner-up HEAVENLY HEATHER.

Raised only 3lb for winning at Wolverhampton, Bungle Bay has to enter calculations. Freak Encounter posted a much better effort when fourth here last week and could be on the premises, but DESERT BEAUTY makes most appeal. She had to be switched for a clear run when finishing runner-up at Southwell last month and can open her account on the all-weather with normal luck in-running.

James Evans' BUNGLE BAY (nap) scored at Wolverhampton last time and can garner a fourth win of 2025 with that form having been franked.
Ths is the racecard key.
