1st (1) (5/4 +23%)Machete |
5/4(+23%) | (1) Machete 5/4, Travelled well and improved before just being outlasted when beaten a neck off 80 here last time. Effective from 10f to 13f. Up 2lb but this trip may prove ideal. Well treated on old form and he was only just caught over 12.4f here last time; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (9/2 -80%)Desert Emperor |
9/2(-80%) | (3) Desert Emperor 9/2, Strong at the finish and produced his best form of 2025 when winning a handicap by 3l off 73 here last time. Effective from 10f to 12f. Can be competitive despite a 5lb rise. Won in good style off a reduced mark over C&D last month; big player again off 5lb higher. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (8/1 +60%)Humble Spark |
8/1(+60%) | (2) Humble Spark 8/1, Lacked pace dropped in trip when well beaten in a handicap here latest; top course jockey; usually held up; effective 12-16f, acts on GF, AW; needs further. Six-time Tapeta winner but he's not easy to predict and needs to bounce back near best. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (11/4 +61%)Light Speed |
11/4(+61%) | (4) Light Speed 11/4, Below form when beaten 10l in a handicap here last time. Effective from 8f to 11f. Needs to bounce back to earlier level. On workable mark but he's been well held over C&D in last two starts; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (50/1 -150%)Maui Breeze |
50/1(-150%) | (6) Maui Breeze 50/1, Again below best when beaten 6l in a handicap at Chelmsford last time. Effective at 6f and 7f. Faces a big step up in trip for new yard. On dangerous mark for new yard but she's 1-10 and others are more convincing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (11/1 -83%)Popeye Doyle |
11/1(-83%) | (5) Popeye Doyle 11/1, Ran to form upped in trip when beaten a neck off 70 at Wolverhampton last time; off a short-break; effective 8-10f, all worthwhile form on AW; mark is still competitive but this stiff 10f may stretch. Went close at Wolverhampton in final run for Hugo Palmer; in the mix on stable debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Desert Emperor and Lewis Chalkley teamed up to spring a 22/1 surprise over C&D, but the form is nothing special and MACHETE gets the nod. David O'Meara's six-year-old has progressed steadily since returning from a long spell on the sidelines and came within a neck of justifying favouritism over the extended 1m4f here. He was headed in the dying strides so should appreciate the drop in trip. Popeye Doyle was in good form for Hugo Palmer and switches stables after being bought for 15,000gns.

This is a tight call but last month's C&D winner DESERT EMPEROR gets the vote ahead of Machete and Popeye Doyle.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (9/2 +44%)Evolve |
9/2(+44%) | (1) Evolve 9/2, 11 Feb; Dream Ahead colt; half-brother to Washington Heights, a Group 3-winning sprinter; top course trainer and needs respecting on debut; yard also represented by Harlequin Bay. 32,000gns yearling; stablemate of Harlequin Bay and market should guide on debut. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (10) (12/1 +14%)Gwen Tennyson |
12/1(+14%) | (10) Gwen Tennyson 12/1, 20 Mar; £11,000 Starman filly; half-sister to five winners, including Dominus, useful at 6f, including in Qatar; dam smart at 5f at 2yo; likely up against it on debut. £11,000 yearling; has speed in her pedigree and needs watching in market on debut. |

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

On his final appearance for John Butler, JUSTMYLUCK proved he handles Tapeta when runner-up at Wolverhampton to a filly who has since made it two from two. Subsequently purchased for 12,000gns, the son of Harry Angel can make the best possible start to life with Linda Perratt. Harlequin Bay also found only one too strong on his latest outing, when keeping on over 5f here, while his stable companion Evolve is a half-brother to classy sprinter Washington Heights so is one to watch on debut.

Top of the list is HARLEQUIN BAY who left his debut form a long way behind when a strong-finishing second over 5f here three weeks ago.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (3/1 +54%)Surgeon Commander |
3/1(+54%) | (6) Surgeon Commander 3/1, Made late headway off a break when beaten 3 1/2l off 57 here last time; blinkers first time; effective at 6f, acts on AW; open to improvement having had a sharpener. Well held in all four runs and he needs improvement with blinkers added. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (11/1 +0%)A Boy Named Mary |
11/1(+0%) | (3) A Boy Named Mary 11/1, Too keen and didn't get home when upped in trip, finishing down the field in a novice here most recently; trainer in form; effective at 7f, acts on AW; dropping in trip now handicapping. Unexposed gelding but he needs a transformation dropped to 6f on nursery debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

WATCHDOG headed the market on his first start following a gelding operation and so nearly justified it at Southwell last week. Richard Fahey turns him out again before his revised rating comes into effect and the move can pay dividends. Grey Horizon has left the Musley Bank handler to join Scott Dixon since a Catterick success and has shown glimpses of ability on the all-weather. Even so, King Victorious is feared most after a couple of placed efforts of late.

The vote goes to WATCHDOG (nap), who was only just caught at Southwell last week and is well treated off on this drop back in trip.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (18/5 +64%)Kohana Nation |
18/5(+64%) | (4) Kohana Nation 18/5, Green and got behind when well beaten in a novice at Kempton on only start; by a sprint sire out of a miler dam; open to marked improvement. Could be sharper for Kempton experience but needs a sizeable step forward today. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (10/3 -78%)Great Success |
10/3(-78%) | (2) Great Success 10/3, Step back from promising debut, held when short of room, when beaten 9l in a novice here last time; top course trainer; effective at 6f, acts on GF; bounce back needed but possible. Underwhelming here last month but leading claims judged on debut form at Pontefract. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

11/2(+0%) | (1) Choir Boy 11/2, Modest debut, finishing 10l behind in a maiden at Naas; cheekpieces applied for the first time; returns from a short break; effective at 8f but not certain this drop in trip will suit on stable debut. 5th of 8 on sole run for Aidan O'Brien; no surprise if he has a part to play on yard debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (11/4 +31%)Stepanov |
11/4(+31%) | (6) Stepanov 11/4, 3 Apr; resold for 105,000gns as a yearling; Starspangledbanner colt; dam unraced; could easily have a say on debut as this isn't much of a race. 105,000gns yearling; trainer had a 2yo newcomer win impressively here last Saturday. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (40/1 -60%)Raven's View |
40/1(-60%) | (5) Raven's View 40/1, Modest debut when beaten 8 1/2l in a novice here; bred to stay at least a mile; should improve for that initial experience. Down the field at 22-1 on recent debut over C&D and needs to leave that form well behind. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

GREAT SUCCESS was soon eased when beaten here latest but on the evidence of an encouraging debut third at Pontefract, it is worth giving Richard Fahey's colt another chance. Stretching out in trip might help him and he gets the nod ahead of Thestral, who is entitled to have come forward from his first outing here last month. The sole newcomer Stepanov wouldn't have to be a superstar to get competitive.

Preference is for the sole newcomer STEPANOV. He was bought for 105,000gns last November and Ed Bethell's 2yos have been going well here

Enjoys making the running and is effective at 6f to 7f on all-weather. Needs to bounce back. 0-11 on AW but some good runs here in the autumn and this drop back in trip could assist. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (11/1 -120%)Maxi Boy |
11/1(-120%) | (2) Maxi Boy 11/1, Produced his best run of 2025 when just denied by 1/2l off 74 here last time. Effective at 7f and handles the all-weather. Capable again off this mark. Hard to win with but went close here this month and can be bang there if backing that up. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (16/1 -33%)Novak |
16/1(-33%) | (5) Novak 16/1, Scored by 1/2l off 71 here in September; bit below form, didn't get home last time; effective 6/7f, acts on sound surface; in and out of form recently. Inconsistent but three wins this year, with two of them here; not ruled out each-way. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (10/1 -33%)Pal Joey |
10/1(-33%) | (6) Pal Joey 10/1, Lacked pace down in trip when beaten 3l off 74 here last time. Wears a visor for the first time. Effective at 6f to 7f on a sound surface and looks on a competitive mark. Hasn't kicked on since winning at Haydock in July but maybe he'll be sharper in the visor. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (10/3 +33%)Dandy Magic |
10/3(+33%) | (3) Dandy Magic 10/3, Scored by a neck off 70 here penultimate start; ran to form when third last time; top course jockey; effective 5/6f, acts on GS, GF, AW; likes this C&D and can go well again. Two-time C&D winner who ran well when third over C&D last time; has to be high on the list. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (11) (25/1 -79%)Captain Vallo |
25/1(-79%) | (11) Captain Vallo 25/1, Didn't find, below form when beaten 4 1/2l in a handicap at Redcar last time; in good form prior; returning from a break; suited by 6f, may not get 7f, acts on a sound surface; bounce back needed. Rare below-par run when last seen but this three-time C&D winner could be a major player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (4) (5/1 +9%)Forest Caper |
5/1(+9%) | (4) Forest Caper 5/1, Bit below form but with excuses when 6 1/2l third in a novice here most recent run; effective 8-10f, acts on GS, GF, AW; bounce back needed dropped to sprinting. Maiden but has often run well and could be suited by this first crack at a sprint trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (10) (22/1 +0%)Habrdi |
22/1(+0%) | (10) Habrdi 22/1, Below form down in trip when tried in cheekpieces and beaten 8 1/4l in a handicap at Hamilton last time. Returning from a break. Effective at 6f to 8f on all-weather. Has been regressive of late. His mark continues to tumble but for good reason in view of his performances this year. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (12) (50/1 -52%)La Rochette |
50/1(-52%) | (12) La Rochette 50/1, Again below form when down the field in a handicap at Redcar most recently. Off a short break and yet to find suitable conditions. Her mark is easing but remains out of form. Two wins in France last year but she's struggled in Britain and is hard to fancy. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Course scorer MAXI BOY returned to form when taking second here 17 days ago and should be bang there at the business end if building on that effort. Consistency wouldn't be his strong point, though, which gives hope to the others and Dandy Magic will be fancied by many to at least hit the frame. Novak likes it here and Forest Caper has been knocking on the door.

The 3yo DANDY MAGIC has been in really good form here on her last two outings and can post her third course win.

May come on for that latest outing. 6yo who is 1-17 on AW and was tailed off on reappearance over C&D last month. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

POWERFUL RESPONSE has won at this track previously and it's surely just a matter of time before he gets back in the winning groove judged on a pair of second-placed efforts here last month. Mercurius Power could be one for the each-way player but the main danger is Tasever, who has been running really well without winning here of late.

The vote goes to POWERFUL RESPONSE, who had a near miss over C&D last month and is only 1lb higher on this drop back in grade.

SHERLOCK has yet get his head in front although not for the want of trying. Kevin Ryan's charge finished runner-up in a tougher handicap over a mile here last time and the application of first-time cheekpieces may bring the modicum of improvement needed to go one better. No Nay Nevermind is another looking to build on a recent second here, while Reenie's Dream will appreciate this return to 7f.

Most of these have plenty to prove but SHERLOCK was a good second over 1m here ten days ago and is a big player if he can back that up.

SHATIN VENTURE landed a classified sprint over C&D back in March. He posted his best effort since when finishing a close third back here last time and the son of Profitable remains of interest off an unchanged mark. Lady Bouquet made all over 6f at Wolverhampton so this shorter trip may not prove too much of an inconvenience, while Ramon Di Loria could make the frame.

Jim Goldie's new recruit WEE MARY didn't get a clear crack at things on her stable debut and can take advantage of an attractive mark.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Chief Of State has been thereabouts over 6f on the turf and is no forlorn hope back over the minimum trip. Lady Of The Garr could launch a challenge off her current mark, but it could finally be the turn of LITTLE MI MI. The daughter of Dandy Man has been threatening to open her account of late and, having finished runner-up here last time with Henery Hawk back in fourth, she gets the vote.

Having been knocking firmly at the door, LITTLE MI MI is taken to get off the mark at the 15th attempt. Chief Of State is feared.
Ths is the racecard key.
