Having shed his maiden tag in comfortable fashion at the second time of asking over 6f at Southwell last month, INVICTUS GOLD gets the vote. Tom Clover's runner won more comfortably than the winning distance may suggest on that occasion and he can continue his upwards trajectory. Evening Saigon is feared most after being beaten just a length over 5f at Musselburgh earlier this month and this extra yardage could bring out some improvement, while Hajes is a newcomer to take seriously.

EVENING SAIGON looked potentially useful when winning on debut and didn't shape badly on his first outing for new connections last time, so he's worth another chance to double his tally. Invictus Gold is the danger on form and Hajes is the most appealing newcomer.

Twice-raced EVENING SAIGON sets quite a high standard and gets the verdict over cosy Southwell scorer Invictus Gold.

ROSY AFFAIR is yet to be out of the first two in her six starts under Rules and she makes the most solid case in this field. George Boughey's charge was beaten just a neck by Star Of Lady M, who has subsequently given that form a significant boost when running away with a valuable handicap at York on Wednesday, over C&D last month and a 1lb rise may prove to be lenient. Just three quarters of a length separated Dashing Dick (second) and Equiano Springs (third) C&D earlier this month and they appear likely to follow the selection home.

ROSY AFFAIR and Dashing Dick both posted excellent efforts over C&D last time and may well fight out the finish, with the former marginally preferred on account of the fact that she has more potential. Equiano Springs should give another good account.

Dashing Dick and Equiano Springs are solid, but with youth on her side the progressive ROSY AFFAIR looks the one to beat.

APOTHEOSIS arrives here seeking a hat-trick following a brace in novice company at Haydock and most recently at Lingfield. The son of Night Of Thunder makes his handicap mark and an opening mark of 90 appears to be exploitable. The main danger is likely to come in the form of Run Boy Run, who scored in game fashion over C&D last time, but the 2lb rise may prove difficult to defy, while Granger Bay completes the shortlist.

RUN BOY RUN has taken his form up a notch since the cheekpieces have been added, showing a good attitude when doubling his tally at this C&D last time, so he is taken to follow up in his current form. Apotheosis arrives bidding for a hat-trick and isn't taken lightly on his handicap debut, with American Bay completing the shortlist.

Run Boy Run can go well again but APOTHEOSIS is improving with each run and can complete his hat-trick now handicapping.

BRIAN struggled in a Listed event at Ascot last time but was third in the Chesham earlier in the season and his 6f novice success in between suggests that this drop in trip should not be a problem. With that in mind, he just gets the vote over Li Ban, who put in a career best when third in a similar event to this at Naas last time. The rest all have some questions to answer but Force And Valour and Lesley's Boy are the pick of them.

LI BAN confirmed his much-improved win at Thirsk when third of 21 in a valuable sales race at Naas and looks the one to beat on these terms. Brian rates a clear next best back down in class, with Force And Valour and Lesley's Boy best of the others.

The likeable Brian has plenty going for him but slight preference is for LI BAN, third in a similar event in Ireland last time.

Twilight Calls arguably sets the standard on recent form following some encouraging efforts in defeat at Group level in recent months. That said, he has not won in over two years and a chance can be taken on WOODHAY WONDER, who has an outstanding record at both Newmarket tracks. Her latest third in a competitive handicap at Ascot was not far off a career best and she could make her mark at this level. Vadream has to be of interest now eased in grade, while similar comments apply to Orne.

Little between a few of these on form but Tom Ward's likeable C&D scorer WOODHAY WONDER still looks to have more to offer so edges the vote. Quinault could emerge as the main danger on the back of his recent Chester listed success, although both Vadream and Rage of Bamby have the form to play a big part if at their best. C&D winner Funny Story completes the shortlist.

An open-looking Listed event can go to the admirable WOODHAY WONDER who was denied at Ascot last month and receives weight all round.

In an open event marginal preference is for the unexposed ASSAIL following his impressive success over 1m4f at Ascot last month. A 7lb rise will obviously demand more from the four-year-old but he could have improvement to come on just his sixth start. Mr Freedom was far from disgraced off this mark in a strong event at Goodwood last time and he has to be of some interest, while similar comments apply to Subsequent.

ASSAIL can defy the handicapper with the step up in trip likely to suit. Andrew Balding 3-y-o Subsequent is another who should have more to offer as his stamina is drawn out and is second choice ahead of the likeable Mr Freedom.

The step up to 1m6f looks likely to suit ASSAIL, Subsequent and Calvert in an interesting clash, preferred in that order.

Spring Bloom has to be noted seeking a hat-trick but the return to 5f and 3lb rise for the latest of his wins are both slight concerns. As a result, the vote goes to BRUMMELL following his narrow defeat off this mark at Newcastle when last seen in June. Coup De Force often goes well and edges out Good Earth to be best of the remainder.

GOOD EARTH has been shaping up well of late and gets the nod to take advantage of his much-reduced mark. Hat-trick seeker Spring Bloom is still well treated on the pick of last season's form and has to be feared, with 3-y-o Brummell also worthy of respect.

Spring Bloom is respected in his bid for a hat-trick but he may not be so well handicapped as C&D winner GOOD EARTH (nap).
