14:18 Newton Abbot (Class 4) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

A promising third on her hurdles bow at Warwick earlier in the month, SHARP GLANCE is entitled to have plenty of improvement forthcoming and she can get off the mark here. The Jamie Snowden yard can do little wrong at present, and Jack N Jones looks to be a key player on her hurdles debut, along with And She Was.

This looks a good opportunity for the well-related SHARP GLANCE who has nothing to fear from Last Note on their Warwick clash.

14:48 Newton Abbot (Class 5) 18f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Denied by the narrowest of margins on his first start for the in-form James Owen team at Warwick last week, MR LE PHILOSOPHE looks capable of gaining compensation on the rise in distance. Stablemate Market House arrives on the back of a victory on the level at Brighton, and he is of interest on his return to this sphere with Alex Chadwick taking off a valuable 5lb. Runner-up here last time out, Stinginhisstep is another to consider, along with Privilege.

James Owen's MR LE PHILOSOPHE (nap) is off the same mark as for last week's narrow defeat and he can gain compensation.

15:18 Newton Abbot (Class 5) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

This can go the way of DARING PLAN, who was not beaten far on his first start after wind surgery when third at Fontwell recently. Stepping up slightly in trip promises improvement, and he gets the vote ahead of Tellairsue, who has been placed on his last two starts and should enjoy a return to this distance. Illogical Logic has strong claims if bouncing back to the form of his fourth at Doncaster two starts ago.

He will need to run better than last time but ILLOGICAL LOGIC has races in him off his current mark. The forecast rain is welcomed.

Kick Up A Storm has been given a break since he failed to complete a hat-trick over hurdles with a disappointing effort at Doncaster last November. Switching to fences could rekindle his interest and a betting check should be revealing. However, experienced chasers Planned Paradise and course-specialist INVESTMENT MANAGER look the pair to focus on. The latter won this race off 3lb higher last year and has a big chance of staging a repeat.

Any of the five might win but last year's winner INVESTMENT MANAGER could run around here with his eyes shut.

16:18 Newton Abbot (Class 4) 21f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Having made all over 3m1f at Warwick earlier this month, Striking A Pose warrants respect off just 2lb higher. However, Joe Tizzard's charge may find it tougher dominating a bigger field on this drop back in distance and AL SAYAH looks the most solid proposition. Neil Mulholland's mare arrives on the back of a career-best triumph over C&D and a 6lb rise from the assessor looks workable. Paddy De Pole is also noted.

A trappy race. Al Sayah could continue her good recent work but Warwick winner STRIKING A POSE gets the nod.

YCCS PORTOCERVO shaped better than the bare result when weakening into fourth at Ludlow last month after some less-than-fluent jumping over the final fences. Moreover, the Martaline gelding's stamina may have been stretched by the 3m distance and this 2m5f trip could prove fruitful. The biggest threat may emerge from Cap Du Mathan, who arrives on the back of a respectable third at Cheltenham, ahead of On Springs.

After a good run at Cheltenham, CAP DU MATHAN is taken to have the measure of last year's winner Yccs Portocervo.

About U.K Horse Racing

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.

There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.

The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.

Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.

In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.

Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
