14:05 Newton Abbot (Class 4) 21f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

KNIGHTS AFFAIR made an instant impression when going in by a length on his jumping bow at Huntingdon and may have lots more to offer. The five-year-old makes only his second start for the Jamie Snowden stable and can follow up. Highway Hero struck between the flags last month and is an interesting contender back under Rules, while Keel Strand is another to keep an eye on.

The vote goes to KEEL STRAND who has shown promise, has a tongue-tie fitted after wind surgery and may be capable of a first win.

14:35 Newton Abbot (Class 5) 25f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

GRAND SABRE took a sizeable step forward on his second chase start when victorious at Warwick and is just 5lb higher. Nick Gifford's charge could have more to offer and looks the one to beat again. Radharc Na Slaine filled the runner-up spot over 2m5f here last week and holds an obvious chance off the same mark. Of the remainder, Moonlight Artist makes the most appeal.

Illogical Logic should go well as he bids for compensation for last week's fall but GRAND SABRE could be the stronger stayer.

15:05 Newton Abbot (Class 4) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

CULLIGRAN finished a long way clear of the third when occupying the runner-up berth at Ffos Las last month and goes off the same rating. That mark remains workable and John O'Shea's mare can return to winning ways. Fever Dream finished third when sent off favourite for the Norfolk National at Fakenham and he has to be respected, while Thank You Blue isn't out of it either.

Most of these have a question mark but CULLIGRAN (nap) doesn't and she can get off the mark over fences on this step up in trip.

15:35 Newton Abbot (Class 5) 26f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

PORTOBELLO GIRL relished a step up in trip when scoring over this sort of distance at Stratford. Alastair Ralph's mare won going away and a 3lb nudge up the ratings is unlikely to take her to the ceiling of her ability. All Under Control finished behind the selection in second and warrants respect off an unchanged mark, although a bigger threat may emerge from Chabadatika, who found only a subsequent winner too strong here last month.

The unexposed PORTOBELLO GIRL looked like there may be more to come from her when scoring at Stratford and she is taken to follow up.

16:05 Newton Abbot (Class 3) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

The hat-trick seeking American Land arrives at the top of his game and another bold bid is forecast, while Bangor winner Stream Of Stars also looks capable of better. However, they may have their work cut out to stop GET THE VALUE from landing a third consecutive victory. The seven-year-old has been a different proposition since switched to more aggressive tactics and he scored with enough in hand at this course last month to suggest that a 7lb higher mark is surmountable.

Bundles of pace on here and if the leaders overdo it that would bring CLEARANCE, who loves it here, firmly into calculations.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

SERAPHIC has been consistent under both codes of late, most recently when finishing second on the level at Chepstow. A few of these arrive with something to prove so running to form might suffice. Colonel Lesley often performs well around here and he must enter calculations, along with Liberty Looming, who might be able to find improvement now sent handicapping.

The suggestion is COLONEL LESLEY, who goes well both here and when fresh and is taken to make the most of a competitive mark.

17:05 Newton Abbot (Class 4) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Alba Crus showed clear promise when fifth at Uttoxeter and should put that experience to good use, but USYK could land the knockout blow. The son of Vadamos, who represents a yard that often does well in this type of contest, is a half-brother to bumper winner Raven Rule so it would come as no great surprise were he up the task on debut. Diegos Icon is also noted.

It's difficult to get away from ALBA CRUS, who's the only one of these with experience and went through his debut at Uttoxeter nicely.
