11/10(+8%) | (6) Quay Item 11/10, Outpaced but showed promise when beaten 8l into third on debut in a maiden hurdle at Doncaster. Back from a short break, effective at 2m4f on good to soft ground, and there is more to come from this top-yard runner. Made a promising start for the stable when third on hurdle debut; leading player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (13/8 +7%)Catch On Me |
13/8(+7%) | (3) Catch On Me 13/8, Ran to form when beaten 3l into third over a longer trip in a handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter last time. Effective between 2m and 2m4f on ground with cut, and has been competitive since moving from France. Improved switched to a handicap latest and a leading contender back in maiden company.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (22/1 -83%)Lola De Magny |
22/1(-83%) | (7) Lola De Magny 22/1, Improved when winning a maiden point by 1 1/2l at Ballycrystal last time. Returns from a break, is a point winner, and has since joined a yard that does well at this venue. Irish point winner and one to watch in the market on hurdle debut.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (12/1 -9%)Lirone Du Seuil |
12/1(-9%) | (5) Lirone Du Seuil 12/1, Made a modest debut when well beaten in the Introductory Hurdle at Wetherby. Returns from a short break and is effective around 2m2f on very soft ground, so should be capable of better for a leading yard. Ex-French; disappointing on British debut but in excellent hands and may now do better.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (9/2 +25%)Alan Bresil |
9/2(+25%) | (1) Alan Bresil 9/2, Below form when fourth, beaten 19l, over an increased trip in a handicap hurdle at Lingfield last time. Cheekpieces are applied for the first time. Effective at 2m5f on good ground, but this looks easier and may suit handicaps later. Made low-key handicap debut but may do better dropping in trip with new headgear.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (125/1 -56%)Blazing Saint |
125/1(-56%) | (2) Blazing Saint 125/1, Outpaced and well beaten on his only start in a maiden hurdle at Hereford. The debut effort was modest and he has plenty to prove based on that performance. Well-related 5yo but beaten 77l on hurdle debut and looks one for the longer term.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (100/1 -355%)Willshebe Court |
100/1(-355%) | (8) Willshebe Court 100/1, Outpaced and failed to build on debut when finishing well down the field in a mares' bumper here last time. The trainer is in form, and while a longer trip could suit on hurdle debut, improvement is required. Well held in two bumpers and needs to improve for the step up in trip on hurdle debut.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (100/1 +0%)Hialeah |
100/1(+0%) | (4) Hialeah 100/1, Did not find much on debut when well beaten in a novice hurdle at Lingfield. Returns from a short break and was regressive on the Flat, leaving plenty to prove now switching to hurdles. Modest Flat maiden who showed little on November's hurdle debut.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Keep an eye on Alan Bresil now connections try their gelding in first-time cheekpieces, but CATCH ON ME is the one to beat. Despite a pretty quiet season by Venetia Williams' standards, her gelding won't get many better opportunities than this and it was a lot better last time out in a Uttoxeter handicap. Quay Item is another to take seriously.

6yo CATCH ON ME shaped with definite promise on last month's reappearance and looks the one to beat with that run behind him.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (5/2 0%)Looping D'arc |
5/2(0%) | (2) Looping D'arc 5/2, Refused in a novice hurdle at Hereford latest after a debut victory. Effective at 2m on GS and bumper form looks strong, so he should progress over hurdles with more experience. Pulled up when hanging badly latest but looked promising prior to that; respected.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (14/1 +58%)Land Of Punt |
14/1(+58%) | (6) Land Of Punt 14/1, Green and made mistakes but improved a little from debut when comfortably held in a novice hurdle at Hereford last time. Off a short break and point form suggests further than 2m will suit. Well beaten on both previous runs over hurdles and looks one for the longer term.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (5/2 +0%)Ambiente Friendly |
5/2(+0%) | (1) Ambiente Friendly 5/2, Far too free and stopped quickly after bad late errors when beaten 7 1/4l in a handicap hurdle at Huntingdon last time. Effective at 2m on S and G, and the former Derby runner-up should have more to offer over hurdles. High-class Flat performer who has taken well to hurdles; key player back in a novice.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (12/1 -60%)Northwest Passage |
12/1(-60%) | (9) Northwest Passage 12/1, Green and made mistakes on a modest debut when well beaten in a juvenile hurdle at Newbury last time. Had been in good form prior, is effective at 2m and progressive on the Flat, but may need more time over hurdles. Well held on last month's hurdle debut, but there were some positives and he can improve.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (40/1 +20%)Golden Prince |
40/1(+20%) | (5) Golden Prince 40/1, Ran to form when comfortably held in a novice hurdle at Haydock last time. Acts on S but may want further than this 2m trip. Irish point third is strong form but he's disappointed so so far in bumper/over hurdles.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (40/1 -567%)Canopus |
40/1(-567%) | (8) Canopus 40/1, Far too free in front and stopped quickly when well beaten in a maiden at Nottingham last time. Had been in good form prior, is returning from a break and yard does well with similar types; of interest. Fair Flat maiden who is of interest making hurdle debut for a respected stable.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (150/1 -50%)Back On Track |
150/1(-50%) | (3) Back On Track 150/1, Pulled up in a maiden hurdle at Warwick last time. Showed some promise in point-to-points but has plenty to prove under Rules. Pulled up on last month's hurdle debut and others have more obvious claims.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

AMBIENTE FRIENDLY finished runner-up in the 2024 Derby and must have a big chance here if punters can look past one lacklustre effort in a Huntingdon handicap last time. Before that, he won in this company on soft ground and the second has recently franked the form by winning impressively at Lingfield. He makes more appeal than Looping D'arc and Reteti.

Looping d'Arc is feared, but marginal preference is for AMBIENTE FRIENDLY who is a key player back in novice company.

1st (5) (2/1 +60%)Sea Thrift |
2/1(+60%) | (5) Sea Thrift 2/1, Fell in a handicap chase at Exeter last time when headed late and booked for clear second at worst. Effective at around 2 1/2m and her debut effort was strong. A big chance off generous mark based on hurdles form. Was running a big race when falling three out on chasing debut at Exeter last month.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (7/4 -92%)Superstylin |
7/4(-92%) | (1) Superstylin 7/4, Did it cosily but beat very little when landing a handicap by 19l at Fontwell last time, off a 5lb lower mark. Effective at 2m and acts on soft and good ground. In good form and a player again. Made a winning start for this yard in September and won again at Fontwell last month.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (15/2 -88%)Sanitiser |
15/2(-88%) | (3) Sanitiser 15/2, Ran to current form when fourth, beaten 11l, in a handicap chase at Hereford latest. Returns off a short break and is effective at 2m. Not the most resolute and a step up in trip may not suit. Took fairly well to fences when fourth twice in November (2m3f/2m); soft-ground query.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (15/2 +53%)Known Warrior |
15/2(+53%) | (2) Known Warrior 15/2, Made mistakes and found little when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Lingfield last time. Effective at 2m and acts on good ground. Inconsistent over hurdles and needs improvement. Tailed off when last of six on his handicap debut over hurdles; chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (5/1 +0%)Applicationofcash |
5/1(+0%) | (4) Applicationofcash 5/1, Ran well for a long way until fitness gave out when third, beaten 13l, on stable and chase debut at Huntingdon last time. Effective at around 2 1/2m and should come on significantly for that run. Entitled to need the run when third on chase/stable debut at Huntingdon; may improve. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

SUPERSTYLIN should prove tough to beat in this handicap chase. He gained the success his previous form deserved at Fontwell on Boxing Day and he's performed well at this track before. Sanitiser needs a bit more but has the form in the book to at least keep the selection honest, while Sea Thrift could be the one for third place.

Superstylin has already won twice over fences this term but it may be worth taking him on with SEA THRIFT.

2/1(+11%) | (2) Good To Be Alive 2/1, Rallied gamely and ran to form when beaten 2 1/2l off a 2lb lower mark at Hereford last time and that form has been franked. Trainer is in form; effective at 2-2 1/2m, may need some cut, and is unexposed for this yard. Running well since switched to handicaps this season and likely to be in the mix again.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (16/1 -33%)He's A Latchico |
16/1(-33%) | (7) He's A Latchico 16/1, Scored by 2l off a 6lb lower mark at Leicester three starts back. Below form up in grade when seventh beaten 21l off 114 last time; effective at 2m-2m2f and handles Hy, S and G. In good form at the end of last year but has to be forgiven a lesser effort last time.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (7/2 -56%)Lucky Manifest |
7/2(-56%) | (3) Lucky Manifest 7/2, Bit disappointing up in trip when beaten 8 1/4l in a handicap hurdle at Cheltenham last time where failed to stay. Had been in good form prior; effective at 2 1/2-2 3/4m, suited by G, and generally consistent. Fair mark on chase form so not dismissed. Dual hurdle winner who's holding his form well and another bold bid can be expected.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (22/1 -57%)Pretending |
22/1(-57%) | (5) Pretending 22/1, Pulled up in a handicap hurdle at Fakenham latest. Effective at 2 1/2m but currently in moderate form and may need to come down a few more pounds. Back on her last winning mark but has yet to fire this season and pulled up last week.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (15/2 +25%)Patriotik |
15/2(+25%) | (6) Patriotik 15/2, Made too much use of when dropped in trip and was comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Ascot last time. Effective at 3m and further, but arrives in modest form. Has endured a disappointing season so far, but back on a good mark and not ruled out.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (5/2 +50%)Ike Sport |
5/2(+50%) | (1) Ike Sport 5/2, Forced to switch and with too much to do when wanting a slightly stiffer test, he was comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Kempton last time. Usually held up, effective at 2 1/2m on G, and back on a workable mark but conditions a worry. Back to form at Wincanton, then a creditable 6th in the Lanzorote at Kempton; player.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (14/1 -65%)The Famous Five |
14/1(-65%) | (4) The Famous Five 14/1, Outpaced, never travelled and needed the run when comfortably held in a handicap chase at Ascot last time. Had been in good form prior; effective at 2m-2m4f and acts on S and GS. Laboured return over fences last month but reverts to hurdles on a fair mark. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Good To Be Alive has been running well without getting his head in front on both starts in handicap company and a stiffer track may play to the strengths of Olly Murphy's gelding. Lucky Manifest didn't appear to stay 3m when sent off favourite at Cheltenham and commands plenty of respect back over a more suitable trip, but the vote goes to IKE SPORT. The eight-year-old wasn't at all disgraced when finishing sixth in the Lanzarote at Kempton earlier in the month and he has every chance off the same mark.

Good To Be Alive is feared but IKE SPORT (nap) has returned to form of late and can appreciate this ease in grade.

1st (2) (7/1 -75%)Tankardstown Diva |
7/1(-75%) | (2) Tankardstown Diva 7/1, Fell in a handicap chase at Fakenham on her latest run. Effective over 2 1/2m to 3m and progressive for her new yard, although her mark continues to creep up. Has won on yielding but both October wins (2m7f/3m) on good; fell over fences latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (5/2 +0%)Either Or |
5/2(+0%) | (3) Either Or 5/2, Game when returning to form up in trip in a first-time tongue tie, landing a handicap by a neck at Doncaster off a 5lb lower mark last time. Effective around 2m4f to 3m, inconsistent but remains on a fair mark and is unexposed at 3m. Back to form when 3m winner latest (bled from the nose); good claims if all is well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (9/4 +36%)Keppel Queen |
9/4(+36%) | (4) Keppel Queen 9/4, Pulled up in a handicap chase at Uttoxeter on her latest start. The trainer is in form, she is effective from 2m5f to 3m, has been consistent over hurdles and a step back up in trip looks a big plus. Pulled up over fences latest; stays 3m2f on soft over hurdles; chance off current mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (9/2 +18%)Pipers Cross |
9/2(+18%) | (5) Pipers Cross 9/2, Ran to form when beaten 5 1/4l into third in a handicap hurdle at Exeter last time, having been poorly placed in a race dominated from the front. Effective at 3m and a consistent performer. Best form on good to soft or quicker; turnaround needed with Either Or on December form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (7/2 +0%)Getaway Theatre |
7/2(+0%) | (1) Getaway Theatre 7/2, Outpaced but ran to form on ground quicker than ideal when beaten 13l into third in a handicap hurdle at Warwick last time. Saw out the longer trip well, is effective from 2m4f to 3m1f, is suited by plenty of cut and still looks on a generous mark while in form. Solid staying form on soft before finding ground quicker than ideal latest; down in grade. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

EITHER OR tried chasing on her return to action at Warwick before switching straight back to the smaller obstacles and winning on her first attempt over 3m at Doncaster. Unexposed over staying distances, a 5lb rise appears unlikely to stop Nicky Henderson's mare from taking another step forward. Tankardstown Diva returns to hurdling after falling at Fakenham just before Christmas and is noted along with Getaway Theatre.

Either Or has staying potential but GETAWAY THEATRE is thoroughly proven under the conditions and looks a safer bet.

11/8(+54%) | (4) Lumi Plugin 11/8, The yard won this race last year. Made mistakes, was outpaced and failed to handle the track when well beaten in a handicap chase at Kempton latest; on a good mark based on hurdles form; effective at around 2 1/2m but jumping must improve over fences. 2m4f hurdle winner; has hurdle form at 3m1f; never sighted in 2 chase runs; sights lowered. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (9/2 -50%)Minella Blueway |
9/2(-50%) | (1) Minella Blueway 9/2, Fell in a handicap chase at Ascot last time. Form of spring win has been franked. Effective at around 3m and suited by cut in the ground, and may be worth a go over a marathon trip. Won first 2 starts in cheekpieces (3m) but well beaten in only completion since break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (5/2 -25%)Georges Saint |
5/2(-25%) | (3) Georges Saint 5/2, Ran to form down in class, proving stamina at a sharp track when beaten 4l off a 1lb higher mark at Warwick last time. Effective around 2m4f-3m and acts on heavy or soft ground; in decent form with a fair mark. Mudlover; good claims on 3m form in April and December; recent rain a plus. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (2) (4/1 -20%)Shantou Lucky |
4/1(-20%) | (2) Shantou Lucky 4/1, Scored by 4l off a 6lb lower mark here in November. Outpaced and unsuited by a drop in trip when seventh, beaten 36l off 117 last time, and is 2lb higher now; effective 2m4f-3m1f but inconsistent and conditions a worry over this far. Five wins for new yard in the autumn, including over C&D; below best in 3 of last 4 runs. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Only a tentative vote can go to GEORGES SAINT. The 10-year-old hinted at a revival when third at Warwick on New Year's Eve and is likely to go close if able to build on that performance. Minella Blueway didn't make it past the first fence at Ascot but drops in class and is appealing nonetheless, while it would be dangerous to rule out Shantou Lucky, who won over C&D as recently as November.

The recent rain will play in GEORGES SAINT's favour and there is less guesswork about him than any of his three rivals.

1st (2) (11/2 +39%)Our Papa Smurf |
11/2(+39%) | (2) Our Papa Smurf 11/2, Outpaced and in need of the run when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Fontwell last time. Effective at 2m and acts on good to soft ground, but the form of his maiden win was weak and more is needed in handicaps. Local yard does have good record here. Well held on handicap debut at Fontwell after absence; needs to have come on for that run.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (25/1 +0%)Kill The Groove |
25/1(+0%) | (1) Kill The Groove 25/1, Never threatened when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle here last time, and may have found the ground on the soft side. Effective over 2m2f–2m6f and acts on good ground, but is yet to build on debut. Has run moderately in two runs for current yard; has it all to prove.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (15/2 -7%)Master Dunraven |
15/2(-7%) | (7) Master Dunraven 15/2, Outpaced and looked in need of further when finishing down the field in a handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter most recent. Effective over 2 1/2m and acts on any ground, but arrives in poor form despite the prospect of doing better back up in trip. Disappointing over hurdles and has not beaten a rival on his last two handicap starts.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (11/4 +85%)Dotties Star |
11/4(+85%) | (3) Dotties Star 11/4, Pulled up in a handicap hurdle at Huntingdon latest, having raced off a short break. Effective at 2m and acts on soft ground, but the form of his hurdles win had knocks and he has plenty to prove in handicaps. Won C&D novice last January; well held and pulled up in two handicaps in the autumn.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (9/1 -6%)Suzy Wood |
9/1(-6%) | (6) Suzy Wood 9/1, Outpaced and never threatened when well beaten in a novice hurdle here latest. Usually held up and raced off a short break; effective at 2m, but may need further in time to show her best. Distant third over C&D in November; below that form here last month; handicap debut.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (10/1 -54%)Ephyra |
10/1(-54%) | (5) Ephyra 10/1, Improved a little when comfortably held in a novice hurdle at Fontwell last time. Should stay 2m over hurdles, but now moves into handicaps and needs further improvement to be competitive. Huge odds and has shown nothing so far over hurdles; handicap debut.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (13/8 -123%)Frank Stamper |
13/8(-123%) | (4) Frank Stamper 13/8, Improved when ridden to pick up the pieces, finishing fourth beaten 14l in a four-year-old hurdle at Kempton last time. Form of debut placed effort has been franked. Effective at 2m and showed promise on the Flat, opening mark looks lenient; yard has enjoyed success with similar types. Two modest efforts over hurdles but makes handicap debut for in-form yard.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

FRANK STAMPER has shown a glimmer of ability in a couple of juvenile hurdles so far but, switched to handicaps for the first time, we may now see much better from him. Andy Irvine saddles two in Ephyra and Suzy Wood, both of whom will need to be monitored in the betting, and Warwick maiden winner Our Papa Smurf could bounce back.

This looks to be a weak contest but one that could show more on his handicap debut is FRANK STAMPER. Suzy Wood is the main danger.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
