1st (1) (4/1 -14%)Atreides |
4/1(-14%) | (1) Atreides 4/1, Ran to form when beaten 3l off a mark of 95 over 2m6f at Fontwell last time. Wears a visor for the first time and is best around 2m4f on heavy or good ground. Still a maiden but improving over fences. Longstanding maiden but he's finished close up at Fontwell in last two runs; new headgear. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (2/1 -14%)Birdman Bob |
2/1(-14%) | (3) Birdman Bob 2/1, Returned to form back at his favoured venue after a break, landing a handicap by 10l off 85 here last time. Effective over 2 1/2m on good ground and goes well at Plumpton. May have a bit more to offer now he's got his head in front. Reappeared with a dominant display over C&D last month; big player again up 7lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (14/1 -27%)Hilltown |
14/1(-27%) | (5) Hilltown 14/1, Pulled up in a handicap hurdle over 2m5f here last time. Better suited by further and had been progressive over fences when last seen. 3m1f chase winner but back from long absence when pulled up (hurdles) last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (15/2 +17%)Crac De Megaudais |
15/2(+17%) | (4) Crac De Megaudais 15/2, Probably needed the run when comfortably held in a handicap chase at Huntingdon last time. Value selection on the balance of his form off fair mark based on hurdles efforts. Overall record of 1-11 and he's been well held in both runs over fences; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (6/4 +14%)King Of Highways |
6/4(+14%) | (2) King Of Highways 6/4, Returned to form up in trip on chase debut when beaten 2l off 93 at Lingfield last time. Effective over 2 1/2m on good to soft or good ground. Fairly treated on hurdle form and should improve with experience, likely to stay 3m in time. Promising third on handicap/chase debut at Lingfield and he's in the mix for in-form yard. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Andy Irvine's last two handicap runners have been winners and BIRDMAN BOB, who won nicely over C&D at the start of last month, has an excellent chance of continuing in that vein of form, despite a 7lb rise. King Of Highways ran with credit on his chase debut when third at Lingfield and is likely to be competitive off the same mark. The switch of headgear to a visor might yield some improvement from Atreides.

The vote goes to BIRDMAN BOB, who reappeared with a 10l win over C&D last month. King Of Highways is feared most.

1st (2) (1/3 +38%)Fresh Kicks |
1/3(+38%) | (2) Fresh Kicks 1/3, Produced a very promising debut, quickening well before being caught late by a strong, race-fit stayer when second, beaten a length, in a novice hurdle at Kempton; second run after wind operation; effective over 2m5f on good ground and can win soon. Made bold bid and was only just caught on hurdling debut at Kempton; strong contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (8/1 +27%)The Two Harrys |
8/1(+27%) | (5) The Two Harrys 8/1, Keen and needed the run when well beaten in a maiden hurdle over 2m3f at Chepstow latest; effective at 2m and looks one for handicaps, likely to stay further in time. Promising fourth on hurdling debut at Lingfield but was tailed off at Chepstow last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (9/2 -29%)Hillwalk |
9/2(-29%) | (4) Hillwalk 9/2, Below form when 16l third in a bumper over 2m2f at Fontwell on his most recent run; returning from a long layoff and looks an unlikely alternative. Placed in two bumpers last season and needs watching in market on hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (14/1 -17%)Crest Of Valour |
14/1(-17%) | (1) Crest Of Valour 14/1, Outpaced and modest on debut when well beaten in a bumper over 2m2f at Fontwell on his only start; difficult to fancy. Well held in sole bumper but he has some good jumpers in pedigree; one to keep an eye on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (50/1 -213%)Kill The Groove |
50/1(-213%) | (6) Kill The Groove 50/1, Ran green under pressure and below form when 58l third in a novice hurdle over 2m6f at Newton Abbot last time; effective around 2¼m on good ground and probably one for handicaps after this. Mixed record in seven runs so far and has something to prove on return for new yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (66/1 -100%)Fury Lad |
66/1(-100%) | (3) Fury Lad 66/1, Showed minor promise on debut and looked in need of a stiffer test when comfortably held in a maiden bumper over 2m at Taunton last time; absent for a very lengthy period and has it all to do. Makes hurdling debut after 599 days off and is best watched. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

FRESH KICKS appears to set the standard based on his first run over hurdles when runner-up at Kempton and Nicky Henderson's gelding looks to have an ideal opportunity to go one better. Hillwalk finished second to a useful prospect at Chepstow in November of last year and that kind of form would give him every chance now running over hurdles for the first time. Crest Of Valour is entitled to step forward from his Fontwell debut.

This can go to FRESH KICKS, who was only just caught on his hurdling debut at Kempton and sets the standard on that form.

1st (3) (7/4 +13%)General Briar |
7/4(+13%) | (3) General Briar 7/4, Stable won this race last year. Ran to form when finishing 4l third in a maiden hurdle over 2m5f here last time; effective up to 2m5f and acts on soft and good to soft ground. May find this trip on the sharp side. Made a promising start over hurdles this autumn and was third over C&D latest; shortlisted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (9/4 -20%)Cueros |
9/4(-20%) | (1) Cueros 9/4, Improved up in grade when finishing second, beaten 6l, in the Introductory Hurdle at Wetherby last time; effective around 2m and acts on good ground. Progressive type who could defy a penalty. Won on hurdle/stable debut at Newcastle before finishing second at Wetherby; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (6/5 +31%)Crest Of Stars |
6/5(+31%) | (2) Crest Of Stars 6/5, Quickened and ran to form when benefitting from a drop in grade to win a maiden bumper at Newton Abbot over 2m1f by 2l last time; looks the main alternative with promise of more to come over hurdles. Made all in a Newton Abbot bumper and he could have a good future over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (25/1 -25%)Celtic Queen |
25/1(-25%) | (6) Celtic Queen 25/1, Was rear and outpaced, never a factor on Flat debut when down the field in a 10f novice at Kempton last time; usually held up and needs to improve. Placed in two bumpers but returns after wind op and has bit to prove on hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (250/1 -400%)Major Major |
250/1(-400%) | (5) Major Major 250/1, Ran to form when second, beaten 3l, in a handicap over 11f at Southwell last time; returning from a short break and hard to recommend here. Triple Flat winner but this looks a tough enough starting point over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (200/1 -100%)My Lovely Horse |
200/1(-100%) | (7) My Lovely Horse 200/1, Pulled up in a maiden hurdle over 2m2f at Fontwell last time; may require more time to develop over hurdles. Placed in two point bumpers but was pulled up on hurdling debut last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (80/1 -100%)Suzy Wood |
80/1(-100%) | (8) Suzy Wood 80/1, Outpaced but kept on for a modest effort when 23l third in a maiden hurdle here last time; effective at 2m and may need further in time. Hasn't shown a great deal in four runs so far and others are preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (125/1 -25%)Lord Of The Glance |
125/1(-25%) | (4) Lord Of The Glance 125/1, Outpaced and never threatened when down the field in a novice hurdle at Stratford last time; wears a tongue-tie for the first time. Effective at 2m but yet to show form over hurdles. Well held in two bumpers and things haven't gone well in three hurdle runs; opposable. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Cueros made the perfect start to his hurdling career at Newcastle and lost little in defeat at Wetherby next time. He should progress further, but might struggle to give 7lb to CREST OF STARS. The four-year-old landed a Newton Abbot bumper on his return in October but is sure to be better over an obstacle, especially given that he is a half-brother to the smart Ashdale Bob. General Briar is another to consider.

Bumper winner CREST OF STARS is a half-brother to a smart hurdler and could have a good future at this new discipline.

1st (1) (5/4 +9%)Jorebel |
5/4(+9%) | (1) Jorebel 5/4, Travelled well and improved on chase debut when landing a handicap by a neck off 105 over 2m at Lingfield last time; effective at 2m to 2½m and suited by a sound surface; still progressing. Won four of his last five and latest was on chase debut at Lingfield; big player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (16/1 +0%)Kitsilano |
16/1(+0%) | (5) Kitsilano 16/1, Below form when up in grade and comfortably held in a 2m3f handicap hurdle at Fontwell last time; well treated on old hurdle form but needs to prove ability remains. Back from long absence with heavy defeat for new yard; lots to prove now back over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (9/2 +55%)Jackpot Cash |
9/2(+55%) | (2) Jackpot Cash 9/2, Disappointing on chase return when comfortably held in a handicap chase over 2m5f at Hereford last time; tongue-tie on for the first time; well treated on hurdle form but faces a stiff mark after beating little in the spring; likely to need a career best. Disappointing in three runs this autumn and has something to prove back at this trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (2/1 -23%)Touquet |
2/1(-23%) | (4) Touquet 2/1, Improved from debut under a positive ride when beaten a neck off 93 over 2m at Lingfield last time; trainer in good form; effective around 2½m and a course winner over hurdles; looks on a fair mark if repeating that improvement. Turned things around with close call behind Jorebel at Lingfield 13 days ago; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (10/1 +44%)Miss Fedora |
10/1(+44%) | (6) Miss Fedora 10/1, Outpaced and needed the run when comfortably held in a 2m handicap chase at Hexham last time; effective at 2m and acts on soft and good ground; has a good Plumpton record but remains unreliable. Dual C&D winner but she's lost her way and needs to get back on track. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

JOREBEL has gone from strength to strength since scoring at Fontwell in September, winning three of his four starts, including on his fencing bow at Lingfield. Although he only prevailed narrowly, he should have plenty more in the locker and is fancied to go in again, despite a 6lb rise. Touquet was defeated by the selection at Lingfield, but is 1lb better off. Jackpot Cash has struggled of late, but perhaps the application of a first-time tongue-tie will help him.

The vote goes to JOREBEL (nap) who has won four of his last five and held off Touquet at Lingfield on his recent chasing debut.

1st (3) (9/2 -50%)Believitanducan |
9/2(-50%) | (3) Believitanducan 9/2, Ran second, beaten 5l, in a handicap hurdle over 2m at Newbury last time. Effective from 2m to 2¼m and handles soft and good to soft ground. May have more to offer over hurdles for a top yard judged on flat form. Record of 2-4 over hurdles and was runner-up in a Newbury handicap last month; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (17/2 -42%)Bourbali |
17/2(-42%) | (1) Bourbali 17/2, Made too much use of when back up in trip, finishing 11l third in a handicap chase over 2m4f at Wincanton on latest outing. Enjoys making the running and looks the pick on balance of form off generous mark based on hurdles efforts. Dual C&D winner who has solid record over fences this year; respected back over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (13/2 +46%)American Sniper |
13/2(+46%) | (4) American Sniper 13/2, Needed the run when finishing down the field in a handicap hurdle over 2m4f at Cheltenham most recently. Effective from 2½m to 3m; a useful handicap hurdler but looks vulnerable at this grade over fences. On last winning mark but he's hard to predict and was tailed off on his return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (8/1 +6%)Twist Of Fatecatch |
8/1(+6%) | (8) Twist Of Fatecatch 8/1, Far too keen back from a break and comfortably held in a handicap hurdle over 2m7f at Exeter last time. Effective around 2½m, yet to fully prove stamina for 3m; acts on good ground and generally consistent with potential to do better. 5yo who has still has potential as a handicapper and he's in the mix back in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (5/2 +17%)Jackstell |
5/2(+17%) | (5) Jackstell 5/2, Improved on handicap debut, aided by a late faller, when landing a handicap by 4l off 111 here last time. Trainer in form. Effective from 2m to 2m3f and best on good ground; looks to be progressing. Progressive 6yo who has won his last three including over C&D last time; key player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (7) (9/4 +44%)Grenadier Jed |
9/4(+44%) | (7) Grenadier Jed 9/4, Improved again when needing every yard back from a break to land a handicap by 3½l off 103 over 2m3f at Fontwell last time. Effective at around 2½m and suited by some cut; progressive and should come on for that run. Made it 3-3 in handicaps when scoring at Fontwell; up another 10lb but he's respected. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Having notched up a brace of novice victories, Jackstell completed his hat-trick when switched to handicaps over C&D. He is expected to go close again, but GRENADIER JED is preferred. Robert Walford's gelding also registered a three-timer on his return at Fontwell and the manner in which he won would suggest he can cope with a 10lb rise. Believitanducan, Bourbali and Sixty Plus add further intrigue to a competitive heat.

Grenadier Jed and JACKSTELL are major improvers who have both won their last three starts. Slight preference is for the latter.

1/2(+69%) | (2) Low Expectations 1/2, Well treated up 9lb and improved again when winning a handicap by 13l off 91 over 2m4f at Windsor last time. Trainer in form. Effective around 2m2f and acts on good to soft ground. Progressive but this revised mark demands more. Completed double in emphatic style at Windsor last Sunday; major player again back in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (15/2 +0%)Inferno Sacree |
15/2(+0%) | (1) Inferno Sacree 15/2, Ran to form when finishing 18l third in a handicap hurdle over 2m1f at Sedgefield on his most recent run. Likes to make the running and is effective from 2m to 2½m. Out of form in spring but now well treated, dangerous if allowed to dictate. Last win was in May 2023 but he's on dangerous mark and was placed on recent reappearance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (13/2 +80%)Thankyouandplease |
13/2(+80%) | (3) Thankyouandplease 13/2, Outpaced but improved up in trip when comfortably held in a novice hurdle over 2m6f at Newton Abbot last time. Effective from 2m to 2¾m and may stay 3m, so this drop in trip may not be ideal. Made encouraging start for new yard last month and he could go well back in a handicap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (20/1 +20%)Voix De Bocelli |
20/1(+20%) | (7) Voix De Bocelli 20/1, Ran to form when fourth, beaten 14l in a handicap hurdle over 1m7f at Wincanton last time. Effective around 2m and may ideally prefer easier ground. Has a bit to prove over hurdles. Dual Flat winner but he's 0-12 over hurdles and has been well held in last three runs. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (18/1 +10%)Gregorians Star |
18/1(+10%) | (6) Gregorians Star 18/1, Outpaced but hinted at a return to form when fourth, beaten 11l in a handicap hurdle here last time. Effective at 2m and a bumper winner who acts on any going but needs to build on that latest effort. 0-15 since his bumper win and was behind Hill Station over C&D last time; down the list. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (8/1 -14%)Hill Station |
8/1(-14%) | (4) Hill Station 8/1, Scored by 2½l off 83 at Stratford three starts ago and ran to form when second, beaten 4l off 91 last time. Prefers a sound surface and is in good form but may be vulnerable to stronger stayers over further than 2m. Has record of 22632122 since June and he should make another bold bid; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (33/1 -50%)Castle Quarter |
33/1(-50%) | (5) Castle Quarter 33/1, Never threatened and needed the run when fourth, beaten 34l in a handicap hurdle over 2m2f at Fontwell last time. Effective at 2m and acts on good to soft or good ground but remains inconsistent. 20-1 win at Uttoxeter in May but he was tailed off after another absence last month. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Low Expectations has really turned a corner since returning last month, winning at Fontwell before going in again at Windsor. The penalty shouldn't be any barrier to further success, but the presence of NO MORE BOLERO might be. Officially rated 69 on the level, he made a mockery of a mark of 84 at Ludlow last week and might still have too much under his penalty. Hill Station can chase the pair home.

This is a tight call between the two penalised runners in No More Bolero and LOW EXPECTATIONS, but the vote goes to the latter.

5/1(+9%) | (2) Five Bar Gate 5/1, Keen and outpaced when beaten 8 1/4l in a maiden bumper over 2m1f at Newton Abbot last time; slightly longer trip should suit. Won a point bumper and wasn't beaten far on rules debut at Newton Abbot; in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (12/1 +25%)Soldier Poet |
12/1(+25%) | (8) Soldier Poet 12/1, £28,000 Soldier Of Fortune gelding; dam fair at 16f; trainer in form; not dismissed. Yard 3-51 in bumpers in recent seasons; best watched on debut unless market is persuasive. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (7/1 +30%)Jet Steel |
7/1(+30%) | (4) Jet Steel 7/1, Had every chance but ran poorly when fourth beaten 27l in a bumper over 2m at Chepstow on debut; effective at 2m and acts on good to soft; has plenty to prove. Ran well for a long way in Chepstow bumper and has claims if he can build on that. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (13/8 -30%)Mescalero |
13/8(-30%) | (5) Mescalero 13/8, Ran to form when 8l third in an Amateurs' bumper over 2m at Worcester last time; effective at 2m and acts on good ground; in form and has shown enough to win a race. Two promising placed efforts in bumpers and he sets a clear standard; key player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (2/1 +27%)Saint Invictus |
2/1(+27%) | (7) Saint Invictus 2/1, Outpaced but finished well when second beaten 16l in a bumper over 2m at Sandown last time; effective at 2m and acts on good to soft; should improve for initial experience and can win a bumper. Runner-up in sole point and was second on bumper debut at Sandown last month; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (18/1 +10%)Gettingawaywithit |
18/1(+10%) | (3) Gettingawaywithit 18/1, 1,200gns Getaway gelding; half-brother to Sandor Clegane, high-class at 24f. Half-brother to some bumper winners; one of two runners for yard and market should guide. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (150/1 -88%)Road To Nirvana |
150/1(-88%) | (6) Road To Nirvana 150/1, Outpaced and never threatened when well beaten in a bumper over 2m at Sandown on debut; hood on for the first time; has it all to prove. 40-1 and was tailed off on Sandown debut last month; equipment now added. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

A confident vote goes to MESCALERO, who made a pleasing start to his career when second at Worcester in September. Harry Eustace's charge then finished third over the same C&D, but the winner looked useful and the runner-up has since gone one better over hurdles. This might not be the deepest contest and any further progress could suffice. Saint Invictus was a distant second at Sandown but is still one of the likelier candidates, while Jet Steel must also enter the reckoning.

Top of the list is MESCALERO, who has finished placed in two bumpers at Worcester and his latest third was behind a useful rival.
Ths is the racecard key.

This is the 16:15 Kempton race from the video above backed at 28/1 earlier in the day.
Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
