1st (3) (12/1 -85%)Banter At The Bar |
12/1(-85%) | (3) Banter At The Bar 12/1, Made mistakes but ran to form when comfortably held in a maiden hurdle at Fairyhouse last time; effective from 2 3/4m to 3m on heavy ground; expected to progress over fences judged on his point win. Point winner two seasons ago, ordinary hurdles form, may do better over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (16/5 +29%)John The Diva |
16/5(+29%) | (6) John The Diva 16/5, Made too much use of and did best of those up with the pace when comfortably held in a handicap chase at Navan last time; effective from 2 1/2m to 2 3/4m and suited by plenty of cut; worth another chance in handicap chases. Two wins over hurdles, fair form in beginners' chase, disappointing in his first handicap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (9/1 +25%)Mighty Jeremy |
9/1(+25%) | (7) Mighty Jeremy 9/1, Improved from his debut but flattened out late after a layoff when fourth, beaten 22l in a beginners' chase at Naas last time; effective at 2 1/2m on soft ground; could be well treated for handicap chases. Veteran, three wins over hurdles, huge price when running creditably at Naas last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (10) (25/1 -25%)Silver King |
25/1(-25%) | (10) Silver King 25/1, Did plenty early when finishing down the field in a handicap chase here most recently; effective from 2m to 2 1/2m; currently out of form. Fair hurdler at a modest level, 0-11 over fences, no encouragement from handicap form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (12) (8/1 +11%)Katie Daniels |
8/1(+11%) | (12) Katie Daniels 8/1, Pulled up in a handicap hurdle at Limerick last time; effective at 2m4f on heavy or yielding ground; point and hurdle winner but more needed switched to fences. Good chance based on her maiden hurdle win in November, question mark after Limerick run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (11) (8/1 -60%)Themanintheboots |
8/1(-60%) | (11) Themanintheboots 8/1, Pulled up in a handicap hurdle at Navan last time; trainer in form; best at 3m and acts on any ground; the handicapper may be catching up in that sphere and yet to fire over fences. Had first-time blinkers when winning over hurdles in November, pulled up on latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (5) (8/1 +56%)Enge Hazard |
8/1(+56%) | (5) Enge Hazard 8/1, Made mistakes and failed to find much when not staying in a strongly run race on testing ground, comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Navan last time; effective from 2m to 2 1/2m on soft ground; unreliable. Three-time Scandinavian Flat winner, has shown some ability over hurdles, chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (5/2 +29%)Brucejack |
5/2(+29%) | (4) Brucejack 5/2, Ran to form when comfortably held in a handicap chase at Haydock last time; effective from 2 1/2m to 3 1/2m, acts on any ground; a consistent but frustrating maiden over fences; sets the form standard. Winning hurdler, no shortage of chasing experience, overall profile is concerning. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (15/2 -150%)Additional Time |
15/2(-150%) | (1) Additional Time 15/2, Went clear with ease when winning a maiden hurdle at Sligo by 23l last time; off a short break; effective at 3m on good ground; more to come over fences and a big player if fit. Runaway winner of a maiden hurdle at Sligo in October, point winner in 2024, fair chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (200/1 -300%)Rajsalad |
200/1(-300%) | (9) Rajsalad 200/1, Pulled up in a handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse last time; effective up to 3m on soft ground; yet to confirm his ability after a layoff. Fair hurdler much earlier in his career, no sign of his former ability since his comeback. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (250/1 -213%)Mistyburn |
250/1(-213%) | (8) Mistyburn 250/1, Pulled up in a beginners' chase at Cork last time; usually held up; a 3m point winner yet to show form under rules. Point winner, badly out of form over hurdles, pulled up at Cork on recent chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (250/1 -150%)Bajan Excell |
250/1(-150%) | (2) Bajan Excell 250/1, Outpaced and ran poorly down the field in a beginners' chase at Down Royal most recently; formerly a useful hurdler but has plenty to prove over fences. Winning hurdler in 2020, dire form in points after layoff, tailed off on chase debut. |

Dual hurdles winner JOHN THE DIVA has a preference for right-handed tracks and is better judged on his seasonal-debut second at Gowran than his unplaced effort in a Navan handicap last time. The nine-year-old goes well on testing ground so if the forecast rain arrives before this opening contest, it will enhance his prospects. Brucejack was a long way behind the selection at Gowran and would prefer a longer trip, but he is a very experienced handicapper over fences and has to be respected. Additional Time is a point-to-point and hurdles winner and has to enter calculations on his first chase start, while well-bred point winner Banter At The Bar is another to note.

Despite a slightly tame effort in a handicap last time, JOHN THE DIVA has the credentials to win a race of this standard.

1st (2) (5/1 +23%)Kappa Jy Pyke |
5/1(+23%) | (2) Kappa Jy Pyke 5/1, From a yard that won this last year; travelled and improved on chase debut, suited by a stiff test down in trip when landing a beginners' chase at Thurles by 1 1/4l last time. Effective over 2-2 1/2m and looks a classy chaser so no forlorn stable second string. Thurles chase debut win augurs well; much more on his plate here though. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (5/1 -25%)Jacob's Ladder |
5/1(-25%) | (1) Jacob's Ladder 5/1, Travelled and improved in first-time cheekpieces, suited by a positive ride down in trip when winning a beginners' chase at Fairyhouse by 4 1/4l last time. Effective over 2-2 1/2m with cut and progressing over fences. Has experience edge but bit more needed up in class. Jumped better in cheekpieces to win over 2m latest; 2m4f fine and likely more to come. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (4/6 +70%)Predators Gold |
4/6(+70%) | (3) Predators Gold 4/6, From the yard that won this last year; won a beginners' chase at Navan by 1 1/2l last time. Top jockey back on board; effective from 2 1/2-2 3/4m and acts with cut. More to come over fences judged on strong hurdle form including placed effort at the top level. Impressive comeback win last month makes him a major player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (9/1 -80%)The Enabler |
9/1(-80%) | (5) The Enabler 9/1, Did it cosily and improved up in trip under a positive ride when winning a novice chase at Fairyhouse by 15l last time. Effective over 2-2 1/2m and progressing well over fences but looks stable second string on jockey bookings. Fairyhouse winner; Kennedy prefers Jacob's Ladder but precious little between them. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (6/1 -100%)Pure Steel |
6/1(-100%) | (4) Pure Steel 6/1, Jumped well and travelled smoothly, showing marked improvement for debut experience when winning a novice chase here by 3 1/4l last time. Effective at 2m and acts with cut; hurdles form franked and progressive over fences, likely to stay this bit further. Can make presence felt. Impressive rated novice win here last month; yard won this with Spillane's Tower. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

None of these can be ruled out in a tightly-knit affair, with the powerhouse stables of Mullins and Elliott both doubly represented. Slight preference is for the Jimmy Mangan-trained PURE STEEL, who improved from his seasonal debut at Naas, where he finished behind subsequent Fairyhouse winner Jacob's Ladder, to win readily over the extended 2m at this venue. The Yeats gelding was a point-to-point winner at four and may be suited by this step up in trip. Dual course winner Predators Gold, preferred to Kappa Jy Pyke by Paul Townend, was the best of these over hurdles and won on his chase debut over a longer trip at Navan, while The Enabler readily beat more experienced rivals at Fairyhouse.

Impressive on returning from a long absence at Navan, PREDATORS GOLD can follow up in a strong-looking renewal

1st (4) (5/1 -67%)Diamond Dollar |
5/1(-67%) | (4) Diamond Dollar 5/1, Ran to form when stepped up in trip to land a gamble, winning a handicap by a nose off a 5lb lower mark at Limerick last time; effective from 2m to 2m3f on testing ground. In good form and may have a little more to offer switched to fences now he has got his head in front. Limerick hurdles winner at Christmas; straight into handicap company for chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (50/1 -25%)Just For Yuse |
50/1(-25%) | (7) Just For Yuse 50/1, Made mistakes and was below form when finishing down the field in a handicap chase at Tramore most recently; effective over 2m but out of form in both disciplines. Well held both recent starts after mammoth absence; hard to be confident in. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (11) (33/1 +18%)Mastermind |
33/1(+18%) | (11) Mastermind 33/1, Outpaced and never threatened when comfortably held in a handicap chase at Down Royal last time; effective over 2 1/2m and acts on any ground but in moderate form and on a long losing run. Veteran has lots to find with Feast on Down Royal run over Christmas. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (9/1 -50%)Ernie From Nurney |
9/1(-50%) | (2) Ernie From Nurney 9/1, Needed the run when down the field in a handicap hurdle at Navan most recently; effective at 2m and handles any ground, but the mark may be on the stiff side. 0-8 chasing but should be better for last month's comeback run over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (4/1 +0%)Duce Bigalow |
4/1(+0%) | (5) Duce Bigalow 4/1, Improved when dropped in grade and trip under a positive ride at a sharp track, beaten 3l off a 3lb lower mark at Naas last time; effective from 2m to 2 1/2m and needs to build on that latest effort. Forcing tactics seemed to suit at Naas latest; more needed here over this longer trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (2/1 +50%)Hakensack |
2/1(+50%) | (6) Hakensack 2/1, Showed slight improvement when beaten 3 1/2l off a 2lb lower mark at Limerick last time; effective over 2 1/2m and suited by soft ground. Steadily progressive over hurdles and may have more to offer over fences. Improved hurdler of late; could make an impact here on chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (10/1 +50%)Halsafari |
10/1(+50%) | (3) Halsafari 10/1, Won by 5 1/2l off a 12lb lower mark at Cork in November; effective over 2m and handles soft ground. Remains well treated on old form but can be unreliable these days. Both recent chase efforts leave 13yo with plenty to find. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (8/1 -100%)Lovely Reaction |
8/1(-100%) | (1) Lovely Reaction 8/1, Fell in a handicap chase at Fairyhouse last time where looked a huge threat; effective over 2 1/2m and acts on any ground. On a good mark judged on hurdle efforts and could be running into form after a layoff. Still unexposed chaser 6lb lower than over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) (10/1 +17%)Feast |
10/1(+17%) | (10) Feast 10/1, Had every chance and ran to form when fourth, beaten 15l, in a handicap chase at Down Royal last time; effective from 2m4f to 2m6f but remains in moderate form. Down Royal fourth encouraging; not one to rule out off light weight. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (14/1 -27%)Baltinglass Hill |
14/1(-27%) | (8) Baltinglass Hill 14/1, Up in trip and may not have stayed when well beaten in a handicap chase at Down Royal last time; had been in good form beforehand. Suited by 2m on good ground and on a fair mark, though conditions are a concern. Down Royal run at Christmas was tame but earlier placings over 2m3f put him in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (100/1 -100%)Tullabrack Lad |
100/1(-100%) | (9) Tullabrack Lad 100/1, Failed to stay after briefly threatening when down the field in a handicap hurdle at Wexford most recently; returning from a very long absence and showed nothing over hurdles. Low-grade maiden hurdler; potential improver now sent chasing but inexperience a negative. |

HAKENSACK has been placed on his last two starts over flights and goes straight into handicap company, off his hurdles mark, on his first chase outing. The seven-year-old ran well in a couple of point-to-points and is ridden by a leading conditional. Duce Bigalow showed much improved form on his second start over fences when runner-up over 2m at Naas and also has the assistance of a talented and in-form rider. Diamond Dollar has shown improvement over hurdles recently and has to enter calculations on chase debut, while three-time hurdles winner Baltinglass Hill is another to consider.

Recent chase form is thin on the ground here, so the race looks ripe for a debutant with HAKENSACK preferred to Diamond Dollar

1st (7) (5/1 +33%)Showurappreciation |
5/1(+33%) | (7) Showurappreciation 5/1, Travelled well and ran to form, just flattening out late when third, beaten 9l, in a handicap chase at Navan last time. Effective around 2m5f and handles any ground. On a good mark based on debut form and likely to improve. Only 4l behind the runner-up Evies Vladimir at Navan in his first handicap, may improve. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (11/1 +45%)Ney |
11/1(+45%) | (3) Ney 11/1, Bit below form when doing plenty early and comfortably held in a handicap chase at Navan last time. Effective from 2m to 3m and handles cut. A useful dual-purpose performer, though his current mark demands more. A winner on this card last year, two chase starts this term have been uninspiring. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (14) (7/1 +50%)Bigbraveboy |
7/1(+50%) | (14) Bigbraveboy 7/1, Won by 3l off a 6lb lower mark at Tramore two starts ago, then ran to form when fourth, beaten 13l, over further last time off 103. Effective at 3m with cut. Still well treated on hunter form but remains unreliable. Has a bit to find with Evies Vladimir and Showurappreciation on Navan running. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (11) (66/1 -164%)Hardwired |
66/1(-164%) | (11) Hardwired 66/1, Needed the run when finishing down the field in a handicap chase here last time. Effective between 2m and 3m, handles good ground but prefers some cut. Unreliable yet on a fair mark if returning to his best. Has recorded three of his five wins at this track, a long way below best here 11 days ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (22/1 -38%)Nine Graces |
22/1(-38%) | (1) Nine Graces 22/1, Won this race last year but was pulled up in the Porterstown Handicap Chase (Listed) at Fairyhouse on her latest outing. Best at around 2 3/4m and suited by some give in the ground, though her form has been inconsistent. Sole win over fences gained in this event 12 months ago, subsequent form is off-putting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (16/1 -33%)Solly Attwell |
16/1(-33%) | (8) Solly Attwell 16/1, Travelled well but didn't find much and was a bit below form up in grade when comfortably held in a handicap chase at Newbury last time. Previously in good form. Effective over 3m on decent ground; mark now looks demanding. Won twice in the autumn, unplaced on two raids to Britain since, valuable 7lb claimed here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (12/1 -33%)Krabat |
12/1(-33%) | (5) Krabat 12/1, Back to form when stepped up in trip to win a handicap by 1 1/4l off a 5lb lower mark at Limerick last time. Effective at about 2 1/2m and suited by cut. Back in form and still looks well treated on older efforts. Improved his modest strike to 2-38 when scoring at Limerick last time, often placed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (12) (11/2 +8%)Whateys Quest |
11/2(+8%) | (12) Whateys Quest 11/2, Travelled well and ran to form back over hurdles when beaten 1 1/2l off a 2lb higher mark at Limerick last time. Effective from 2 1/2m to 3m and handles cut. In fair form over both hurdles and fences, remains competitive. Went well for this rider off his slightly higher hurdles mark at Limerick after Christmas. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (4) (18/1 -157%)Evies Vladimir |
18/1(-157%) | (4) Evies Vladimir 18/1, Returned to form down in grade and up in trip when second, beaten 5l, in a handicap chase at Navan latest. Effective between 2m4f and 3m3f, acts well with cut. Fairly treated on Listed form but remains inconsistent. Navan second gives him a slight edge over Showurappreciation who may improve. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (10) (4/1 0%)Gringo D'aubrelle |
4/1(0%) | (10) Gringo D'aubrelle 4/1, Well treated on his novice form and improved up in trip to win a Listed Handicap Hurdle by 7l off a 7lb higher mark at Navan last time. Effective from 2m to 3m. Progressing after past issues and remains unexposed as a stayer. Thrown in on hurdle form but yet to take to chasing. Lightly raced, now a 131-rated hurdler after Navan win, appealing off 113 with 7lb off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (13) (14/1 -180%)Harbour Highway |
14/1(-180%) | (13) Harbour Highway 14/1, Never put into the race and appeared to be looking for a mark when well beaten in a beginners chase at Naas last time. Effective around 2 1/2m and handles soft to yielding ground. May need more time to find his feet over fences. Weak form so far over fences, could find his level in handicaps; worth a market check. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (9) (20/1 -82%)Soloman Lane |
20/1(-82%) | (9) Soloman Lane 20/1, Built on a promising reappearance to win a handicap by a head off a 4lb lower mark at Navan last time. Effective at 2 1/2m and suited by cut. In good form but his revised mark asks for a bit more. Game winner at Navan, good chance he can uphold form with Whateys Quest and Ney. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (16/1 +0%)Prince Palace |
16/1(+0%) | (6) Prince Palace 16/1, Pulled up in a handicap chase at Navan last time. Wears blinkers for the first time. Effective at around 2 1/2m, doesn't stay 3m, and prefers plenty of cut. Fair mark on Listed win but needs to rediscover form. Won a Listed novice handicap chase at Navan last March, weak form this term, blinkered now. |

GRINGO D'AUBRELLE looks nicely treated back over fences. The 10-year-old was a good winner on his last outing off a rating of 124 over timber at Navan. He races off 113 over the larger obstacles and Josh Halford takes a useful 7lb off his back. Showurappreciation ran well on his first outing in handicap company over fences when third at Navan. He looks open to further improvement and Derek O'Connor is a positive booking. Nine Graces won this last year, but hasn't shown the same form since. Krabat comes here in winning form and Adam Ryan offsets the 5lb rise he got for that Limerick success.

The 10-year-old GRINGO D'AUBRELLE (nap) does not have much mileage on the clock and is potentially well treated as a chaser

1st (4) (9/4 -50%)Sober |
9/4(-50%) | (4) Sober 9/4, The yard has taken the last three renewals of this race. Won the Queen Alexandra Stakes at Ascot by 5l last time. Top jockey returns to ride. Bare minimum trip here but stays 3m in this sphere, Queen Alexandra winner on the Flat, and looks a potential top-class performer. Need to jump better than at Killarney last May, impressed in winning the Queen Alexandra. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (8/11 +58%)Road Exile |
8/11(+58%) | (3) Road Exile 8/11, From a yard that has won two of the last ten renewals. Won a maiden hurdle at Navan by 3/4l last time. Effective at 2m and acts on any ground. Looks a useful type; debut form has been franked at Graded level and he should stay further in time. Point/bumper winner, did well to beat a Willie Mullins-trained rival in a 26-runner maiden. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (9/2 -29%)Free Spirit |
9/2(-29%) | (2) Free Spirit 9/2, The yard has won the last three runnings of this race. Improved from debut when winning a 4yo hurdle at Dieppe by a head last time. Off a long absence; effective at 2m and acts with cut. French debut form franked in the UK, with more to come for his new yard. Resolute in winning at Dieppe in June, not likely to be in the same league as Sober. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

Smart Flat performer SOBER looks the pick of the two Willie Mullins-trained runners and should prove the one to beat. The Camelot gelding was last seen winning in fine style at Royal Ascot last summer and struck on his sole outing over timber at Killarney prior to that. This relatively nice ground should suit. Stablemate Free Spirit was successful over hurdles in his native France in June and is an interesting rival. Road Exile battled back to win his maiden hurdle at Navan last month and may want further than this in time.

There are reservations about Sober at this trip. Preference is for ROAD EXILE, a big-field maiden winner at Navan last month

(4) (8/11 +61%)I Started A Joke |
8/11(+61%) | (4) I Started A Joke 8/11, Possibly hit the front too soon but ran to form in a good race when fourth, beaten 6 1/4l, in a maiden hurdle at Limerick last time. Effective at 2m and handles cut; has strong recent form and should be winning soon. Bumper winner, has been running in strong maidens, one of the leading contenders. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(15) (5/2 +29%)Springhill Warrior |
5/2(+29%) | (15) Springhill Warrior 5/2, Promising hurdle debut when runner-up, beaten 1 1/2l, in a maiden hurdle at Navan on only start. Returning from a long layoff; effective at 2m on heavy ground and remains a threat for a top yard. Second on his only start last season, form has not worked out, merits respect all the same. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(20) (7/2 -17%)Riskabahia |
7/2(-17%) | (20) Riskabahia 7/2, Disappointing debut given market expectations when down the field in a maiden hurdle at Navan last time. Wears a hood for the first time; effective at 1m7f on soft ground. French bumper winner who could leave that effort behind for top connections. Flat winner in France in 2023, ran out of steam on belated hurdles debut, can do better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(10) (12/1 +40%)Playtime |
12/1(+40%) | (10) Playtime 12/1, Ran well for a long way in a good race on debut, showing promise though well beaten in a maiden hurdle at Leopardstown last time. Effective at 2m; a flat winner who could progress in this weaker contest. Flat winner, can be expected to find some improvement from hurdling debut at Leopardstown. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (33/1 -106%)Embrace The Day |
33/1(-106%) | (3) Embrace The Day 33/1, Promising effort when a 2l winner in a maiden point at Loughrea on debut; has joined a top yard but does appear stable second string. Promise in winning a maiden point at Loughrea last May for the influential Fogarty team. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(14) (40/1 -43%)Sound As A Bell |
40/1(-43%) | (14) Sound As A Bell 40/1, Improved slightly for debut experience but was well beaten in a maiden hurdle at Limerick last time. Effective at 3m in points; can progress again but likely better suited to handicaps over further. Point winner, looking more like a handicap prospect than a maiden winner after two runs. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(12) (40/1 +20%)Port Mor |
40/1(+20%) | (12) Port Mor 40/1, Yeats gelding; half-brother to Classic Tuxedo, who was poor at 21f. Stable not known for first time out winners. Yeats gelding is of some interest on pedigree, likely to need experience.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(11) (50/1 0%)Poet's Gale |
50/1(0%) | (11) Poet's Gale 50/1, Failed to build on debut when well beaten in a 4yo bumper at Galway last time. Effective at 2m; could improve a little over hurdles but needs to show more. Unplaced in two bumper runs, trainer's reserve Lyreen Og would seem more appealing. |

(5) (80/1 -142%)Large Steps |
80/1(-142%) | (5) Large Steps 80/1, Green and made mistakes when showing minor promise on debut, well beaten in an auction hurdle at Down Royal. Should improve a little with that initial experience. Open to improvement from a Down Royal run but not a likely winner at this stage. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(18) (80/1 -60%)Golden Wings |
80/1(-60%) | (18) Golden Wings 80/1, Outpaced on a modest debut when down the field in an auction bumper at Naas last time. Acts on heavy ground and may need a bit further than 2m over hurdles. Pulled up in a Lisronagh point-to-point, posed no threat in a bumper at Navan last month.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(9) (100/1 0%)Ozark's Walk |
100/1(0%) | (9) Ozark's Walk 100/1, Modest debut in a good race when down the field in a maiden hurdle at Leopardstown last time. Effective at 2m; needs to return to the level of bumper form. Twice second in bumpers, well held by Tyson Fury on Leopardstown maiden hurdle running. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (100/1 -52%)Laxxio |
100/1(-52%) | (6) Laxxio 100/1, Fell when beaten in a maiden hurdle at Leopardstown last time; looks one for further down the line. Solid German Flat pedigree, beaten when falling two out on debut at Leopardstown. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(19) (100/1 -52%)Let It Settle |
100/1(-52%) | (19) Let It Settle 100/1, Fell just before race developed in a maiden hurdle at Cork last time. Has more to come over hurdles but needs to prove effectiveness with cut in the ground. Was beginning to feel the pinch when falling at Cork, stable has stronger contenders. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (125/1 -25%)Convincing |
125/1(-25%) | (2) Convincing 125/1, Made mistakes on a modest debut when finishing down the field in a maiden hurdle at Limerick most recently. A flat maiden who needs to show more to feature over hurdles. Placed form on the Flat, big price when a remote tenth at Limerick on hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(8) (125/1 -25%)Ocean Of Dreams |
125/1(-25%) | (8) Ocean Of Dreams 125/1, Made mistakes and was green before flattening out, possibly not staying, when down the field in a maiden hurdle at Leopardstown last time. Inconsistent flat performer and has stamina to prove over hurdles. Flat winner for Aidan O'Brien, needs to jump more fluently than on recent hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (125/1 -89%)Atlantic Gamble |
125/1(-89%) | (1) Atlantic Gamble 125/1, Showed minor promise on debut when well beaten in a maiden hurdle at Limerick last time. Effective at 2m; a flat winner who may need more time over hurdles. Six wins at around 1m in Britain, posed no threat on stable/hurdling debut at Limerick. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

150/1(-50%) | (7) Navagio 150/1, Modest debut in a good race when down the field in a maiden hurdle at Leopardstown last time; was in decent flat form last year but stamina remains a question. Three-time Flat winner, no threat in Leopardstown maiden in which Tyson Fury was fourth. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(21) (150/1 -50%)Woodstar Lily |
150/1(-50%) | (21) Woodstar Lily 150/1, Hillstar mare. First foal of unraced dam. Yard not known for debut winners so best watched. Out of an unraced Yeats mare who is a half-sister to three winners, best watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(22) (200/1 -100%)Red Veil |
200/1(-100%) | (22) Red Veil 200/1, Ran to form when comfortably held in a maiden hurdle at Limerick last time. Effective at 6-8f; needs to prove stamina for hurdling. Regressive on the Flat, rated a lowly 49, no appeal against her elders here.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(16) (200/1 -33%)The Shanty Field |
200/1(-33%) | (16) The Shanty Field 200/1, Failed to build on debut when finishing down the field in a maiden hurdle at Limerick last time; likely to need more time. Down the field here in November; tailed off at Limerick, safe to rule out.. |

SPRINGHILL WARRIOR may be able to give Gordon Elliott another winner here. The five-year-old ran a big race on his sole outing at Navan back in March when chasing home Positive Energy. That was a solid enough race and, with natural improvement, he could prove the one to beat. Riskabahia is capable of better than she showed first time up over jumps at Navan. The French Flat winner was hampered early on and made little impression at the business end. Smart Flat performer Tyson Fury was a promising fourth on his hurdling debut at Leopardstown over Christmas and is another to consider.

This is a good opportunity for I STARTED A JOKE who has been keeping decent company. He was not beaten far at Limerick last time

(6) (16/5 +9%)San Hilario |
16/5(+9%) | (6) San Hilario 16/5, Forced to wait for a gap on the inside and not given the best ride but ran to form up in trip when beaten 1 1/2l off a 3lb lower mark here last time. Effective from 2m to 2m3f, handles cut and consistent; form franked at Graded level and may improve over slightly further. Recent second here over 2m3f; longer trip to suit and big player again despite 3lb rise. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(8) (4/1 +60%)Garnacho |
4/1(+60%) | (8) Garnacho 4/1, Travelled well and looked to need the run, performing strongly for a long way when beaten 9l in a Leopardstown handicap hurdle last time. Effective at 2 1/2m, acts on good ground; in good form for new yard and should come on for the latest outing. Struggled since big hike for Bellewstown win; down in grade but still opposable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(16) (6/1 +14%)Minority Interest |
6/1(+14%) | (16) Minority Interest 6/1, Travelled strongly and won readily, improving up in trip when landing a Gowran Park handicap by 6l off a 9lb lower mark last time. Returning from a break; effective at 2 1/2m, acts on soft and good ground, and may have more to offer now he's had his head in front. Relished soft for Gowran win in October; light-weight should go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (13/2 +46%)Powerful |
13/2(+46%) | (1) Powerful 13/2, Scored by a short head off a 7lb lower mark here on his penultimate start; ran to form when eighth, beaten 5 1/2l off 120 last time. Effective at 2m with some cut and continues to progress. Likely more to come in handicaps for top yard. 2m winner here in November held off 7lb higher at Leopardstown; upped in trip now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(11) (9/1 -13%)Happy Dreams |
9/1(-13%) | (11) Happy Dreams 9/1, Well treated on old form and ran to form at his favoured venue, landing a handicap by 1 1/4l off a 6lb lower mark at Limerick last time. Effective around 2 1/4m to 2 1/2m, suited by cut and in good form; remains competitive, especially at Limerick. In terrific form of late on testing ground; big player again if handling better ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(9) (10/1 +44%)Jupiter Du Gite |
10/1(+44%) | (9) Jupiter Du Gite 10/1, Hinted at a return to form on stable debut when needing the run, finishing 26l third in a Tramore handicap hurdle. Effective from 2m to 2 1/2m and suited by cut; on a fair mark based on UK form and a threat if building on that effort. Yard debut at Tramore encouraging; longer trip in his favour here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (12/1 +0%)Theflyingbee |
12/1(+0%) | (2) Theflyingbee 12/1, Outpaced but ran to form back up in trip on better ground when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle here last time. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(7) (12/1 -85%)Plunkett Street |
12/1(-85%) | (7) Plunkett Street 12/1, Won readily, improving when landing a handicap by 5l off a 7lb lower mark at Thurles last time. Returns from a short break; effective at 2m and stays 2 1/2m. Consistent but revised mark asks for a bit more. Immediate impact in 2m4f handicaps; up total of 11lb but may well have more to offer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(15) (12/1 +33%)Kimy |
12/1(+33%) | (15) Kimy 12/1, Returned to form down in class and flattened out late up in trip when 13l third in a Cork handicap hurdle last time. Effective at 2m and acts on good ground, though not one to rely on to build on that revival. Recent Cork run augurs well; dropped 3lb and rider claims 7lb here so one to consider. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(13) (20/1 +0%)Moylussa |
20/1(+0%) | (13) Moylussa 20/1, Returned to form down in grade and looked in need of a stiffer test when beaten 1 1/2l off a 6lb lower mark at Leopardstown last time. Returning from a long layoff; effective at 2m and suited by decent ground; may offer more now upped in trip. Absent since good Leopardstown second back in March; 6lb higher. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(14) (22/1 -38%)Moon Mission |
22/1(-38%) | (14) Moon Mission 22/1, Below form when flattening out late up in trip to finish fourth, beaten 46l, in a Tramore maiden hurdle last time. Usually held up; effective at 2m but opening mark looks demanding. 5yo unexposed entering handicaps and market worth a look. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(12) (28/1 -56%)Magic Day |
28/1(-56%) | (12) Magic Day 28/1, Had every chance but a bit below form when comfortably held in a Thurles handicap hurdle last time. Effective from 2m to 2 1/2m, acts on any ground, and could be working back towards form this term. Needs to improve on recent Thurles (2m) run but longer trip could suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (33/1 -267%)Beyond Your Dreams |
33/1(-267%) | (5) Beyond Your Dreams 33/1, Below form when well beaten in a Leopardstown handicap last time, but has a top jockey back on board which could help her recapture better form which she showed as a juvenile. Formerly with Joseph O'Brien; lacks a recent run but any market support has to be noted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(10) (33/1 -267%)Olympy De Cerisy |
33/1(-267%) | (10) Olympy De Cerisy 33/1, Needed the run when well beaten in a maiden hurdle at Limerick last time. Effective around 2m and handles cut; should improve for that outing and point form suggests a longer trip will suit, though more required to defy this mark. Just okay form in 2m maidens; potential improver now upped in trip for handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (80/1 -100%)Ontheropes |
80/1(-100%) | (4) Ontheropes 80/1, Pulled up in the Hunters Chase at Down Royal last time. Effective around 3m and best with some cut. Inconsistent and not seen over hurdles for nearly six years, though has a fair mark on chase form. Poor jumping over fences at Down Royal; only second career-start over hurdles. |

SAN HILARIO has been knocking on the door and might be able to make the breakthrough, despite creeping up a few pounds. The Gordon Elliott-trained gelding got caught in a bit of a pocket early in the straight at Punchestown last time and finished off strongly on the run-in when chasing home Linden Arden. Going up a bit in trip should help. Plunkett Street was a good winner on his last outing at Thurles and could be a danger, despite his 7lb rise. Happy Dreams has been in fine form and is another who has to be given respect.

If handling the better ground, HAPPY DREAMS can record a third win in four starts
Ths is the racecard key.
