200/1(-100%) | (11) Royal Belief 200/1, Modest enough debut when comfortably held in a maiden hurdle at Limerick last time; should improve for the run. Unplaced in five starts on the Flat, remote fifth on hurdles debut, unlikely to feature. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|S| (12) (250/1 -150%)Starword |
250/1(-150%) | (12) Starword 250/1, Never threatened and was well beaten in a juvenile hurdle at Leopardstown on only start; likely to need more time. From a family that has served the stable well, never involved on debut at Leopardstown.. |

200/1(-203%) | (10) Ray Gun 200/1, Off the pace and no show when finishing down the field in a maiden hurdle at Cork most recently; type to do better once handicapping. Won at a modest level on AW in Britain, down the field in two maiden hurdles at Cork. |

MADNESS D'ELLE brings strong Auteuil form for his Irish debut and is likely to be a smart performer. Placed third over hurdles on soft ground last May, that race's winner was subsequently Grade 1-placed and the selection now debuts for top connections at an encouraging time of year. His stablemate Mino Des Mottes won a French AQPS bumper last summer but although he showed ability here on New Year's Eve, he is vulnerable to smart types. Deep Water Bay ran nicely on his recent hurdling debut, but is likely to be more at home on better ground.

Paul Townend's mount MADNESS D'ELLE has joined the Closutton team from a good source after a promising run at Auteuil.

5/1(+23%) | (11) Jumble Light 5/1, Outpaced and looked in need of further when fourth, beaten 15l, in a handicap hurdle at Navan last time; effective at 2m on good ground; fairly treated on maiden form and could do better over further. Satisfactory fourth behind the in-form Spinola Bay at Navan last month, worth considering. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (12/1 +76%)Trebizond |
12/1(+76%) | (3) Trebizond 12/1, Below his best on return from a lengthy absence when down the field in a handicap hurdle at Limerick last time; effective from 2m to 2m4f on a sound surface but must prove what ability remains. Fair form in Ireland and Britain early in his career, showed up well enough on comeback. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (20/1 -11%)Mo Ghille Mar |
20/1(-11%) | (4) Mo Ghille Mar 20/1, Produced a poor run when tried in a tongue-tie and finished down the field in a handicap hurdle at Tramore last time; effective at 2m on a sound surface and needs to bounce back. 33/1(-18%) | (1) Black Soul 33/1, Again below form when back hurdling and well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Tramore last time; effective at 2m on a sound surface and needs to bounce back. Point and maiden hurdle winner, faded from two out on recent stable debut at Tramore. |

ZUZUKEL was narrowly beaten here in November and has obvious claims. Although a 13-race maiden, the son of Frankel showed some promise on the Flat and produced a much improved jumps performance on his latest start. He is 4lb higher, but his rider claims 4lb. Be Fierce hasn't run since a disappointing chase effort in August, but he has winning hurdles form and is suited by heavy ground. He is rated 7lb higher over fences and should compete on his reappearance. Jumble Light offered more encouragement at Navan last month, while Where Are You Now is open to plenty of progression and debuts in handicaps.

A 100-1 chance when contesting her first handicap at Leopardstown, WALK ON ANNILOG is put forward as an each-way option

4/7(+86%) | (9) Poetisa 4/7, The yard won this race last year. Not clear run but showed promise when a neck winner in a mares' bumper at Cheltenham on debut. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (6/1 +40%)Forceonmyown |
6/1(+40%) | (4) Forceonmyown 6/1, Ran to form on hurdles debut when comfortably held in a maiden hurdle at Limerick last time. Had been in good form prior and looks effective from 2m to 2m4f with cut; more to come. Course winner of a six-runner bumper 12 months ago, possibly needed recent Limerick run. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (12) (200/1 -60%)Wings Of Africa |
200/1(-60%) | (12) Wings Of Africa 200/1, Made a modest debut when well beaten in a maiden hurdle at Thurles on her only start. Has plenty to prove. Struggling a long way from home on debut at Thurles in November, can be ruled out. |

It was disappointing that Champion Bumper winner BAMBINO FEVER went under on her hurdling debut, but she remains a fine prospect for jumps. Undefeated in four bumpers, including twice at Grade 1 level, she may have needed the run when beaten by smart performer Oldschool Outlaw at Naas, with the third scoring next time. Willie Mullins also saddles Poetisa, who was bought for 300,000 pounds following her debut bumper win at Cheltenham last April but although she could be smart, she debuts over jumps against the race-fit selection. Bumper winners Forceonmyown and Susie Lenglen were each well enough held in recent maidens.

Last season's outstanding bumper performer BAMBINO FEVER can show that her Naas maiden hurdle defeat was just a minor blip

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (12) (50/1 -25%)Patsy's Pride |
50/1(-25%) | (12) Patsy's Pride 50/1, Ran to form when down the field in a Fairyhouse maiden hurdle last time. Effective from 2m to 2m4f and handles soft ground. May improve now switching to handicaps. Point winner has struggled in four starts under Rules, hard to fancy on h'cap debut. |

Usually held up, effective from 2m to 2m6f, and acts on any ground. Needs to bounce back after a short break. Poor since Galway win off 3lb lower in October, new cheekpieces need to spark. |

SEAN MC was runner-up to a subsequent winner on just his second handicap start last month and can win from his revised rating. Out of a half-sister to his trainer's high-class Accordion Etoile, the selection's form was initially poor but he showed improvement at Fairyhouse, where he was the subject of a morning gamble. He is 3lb higher but is suited by conditions. Kinturk Nelson is a lightly-raced seven-year-old who ran reasonably well on his handicap debut at Fairyhouse, while Sarandon offered some encouragement on her handicap bow at Cork and steps up in trip.

It is hard to get away from SEAN MAC (nap) after the form of his Fairyhouse second was boosted by the winner at Naas on Friday

200/1(-203%) | (16) Peppers Corner 200/1, Below form when down the field in a maiden hurdle here last time; a 3m point winner who has plenty to find under rules. Point winner, well beaten at huge odds both starts under Rules', hard to fancy. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (4) (200/1 +0%)Gerrymandering |
200/1(+0%) | (4) Gerrymandering 200/1, Again ran to a poor level at Leopardstown; has shown no worthwhile form and looks hard to fancy. Hard to fancy on the evidence of two completed starts in maiden hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (150/1 0%)Michael's Jet |
150/1(0%) | (8) Michael's Jet 150/1, Made a moderate debut when well beaten in a maiden hurdle at Clonmel on only start; may require more time to progress. 150-1 and tailed off on hurdling debut at Clonmel, hard to fancy on that evidence. |

KIMI DE MAI won three bumpers in her native France and can now build on some useful hurdling form. Her smart French form was all on testing ground and having run well on her hurdling debut last January, she was subsequently well held at the Cheltenham Festival. Last month's reappearance run was a useful effort in a hot maiden as the Champion Bumper winner finished second, while the third scored last week, and this won't be quite as competitive. Lord Tobin has ability and although beaten 22 lengths on his hurdling debut at Navan, the first two horses are smart performers. Bergamasquo disappointed at Naas, but showed better form previously.

A tentative vote goes to Willie Mullins' mare KIMI DE MAI after her promising seasonal reappearance effort at Naas

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (8) (9/2 +63%)Westernersunrise |
9/2(+63%) | (8) Westernersunrise 9/2, Ran to form when flattening out late back from a break, finishing 5 1/4l third in a handicap hurdle at Limerick last time; effective from 2m4f to 2m7f on heavy or soft ground and should come on for that run. 11/1(+31%) | (18) Sock It To Me 11/1, Given too much to do but stayed on when comfortably held in a Fairyhouse handicap hurdle last time; effective from 2m to 2m4f on heavy ground and capable of better. Left with plenty to do before staying in a 2m4f Fairyhouse handicap, trip should suit. |

13th (16) (12/1 -50%)Dalmatic |
12/1(-50%) | (16) Dalmatic 12/1, Nearly hung race away at last, rallied, improved up in trip in first time blinkers landing a handicap by a nose off a 6lb lower mark at Limerick last time; effective 2m4f-3m, suited by plenty of cut; in form, wears headgear for a reason. Battled away in first-time blinkers to win at Limerick, up 6lb, may remain competitive. |

14th (20) (80/1 -60%)Mahler Appeal |
80/1(-60%) | (20) Mahler Appeal 80/1, Fell in a Tramore handicap chase last time; effective up to 3m on soft ground; out of form and reverts to hurdling. Has failed to complete three chase starts since tailed off on his most recent hurdles run. |

|PU| (13) (20/1 +0%)Fighting Falcon |
20/1(+0%) | (13) Fighting Falcon 20/1, Ran to form when beaten 6 1/2l in a handicap hurdle at Limerick last time; effective at 2m and handles soft ground; could progress again. Met some trouble in running at Limerick in his first handicap, may do better in time. |

The well-bred EMPIRE WALK had shown ordinary form prior to an encouraging run last month. Out of an unraced half-sister to Grand National hero Many Clouds and Grade 1 winner The Tullow Tank, the five-year-old was beaten eight lengths in an ordinary maiden at Naas, but shaped with promise and should be able to score from this sort of figure. Folly Master has a higher chase rating and is well suited by a test of stamina. He had a pipe-opener in a November point-to-point and should compete, despite carrying top weight. Westernersunrise had a nice reappearance at Limerick.

This could be the day on which nine-time points winner ROCKY'S HOWYA gets his act together on the track

200/1(-506%) | (8) Jenina 200/1, Made a moderate debut when well beaten in a mares' bumper here on her only start; may need more time. 80-1 and failed to beat a rival here on debut, seems safe to rule out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (1) (150/1 -127%)Aint Over Yet |
150/1(-127%) | (1) Aint Over Yet 150/1, Well beaten in a maiden point at Quakerstown last time; effective at 3m in points and needs to show plenty more now under rules. Getaway mare, soundly beaten in both starts in points, unlikely. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (12) (150/1 -200%)Smart Answer |
150/1(-200%) | (12) Smart Answer 150/1, Ask mare and sister to Quiz Master, useful at 24f; uncertain whether she has the required speed for this test on debut. Ask mare, sister to winners at 2m4f-2m7f, may need further than this in time, watch. |

FASTNET CRYSTAL was heavily supported on her debut but just failed to reward favourite backers. Having been ridden from off the pace she couldn't reel in the winner, though she is likely to have learned plenty and is expected to take the necessary step forward. Simply Natural has been beaten in three bumpers but her most recent Naas effort was extremely promising. Seven-year-old How's Hannah won a point-to-point in March following a lengthy absence and while she debuts for top connections, she might prove vulnerable.

Joseph O'Brien's FASTNET CRYSTAL is taken to go one place better after a highly promising second on debut at Thurles
Ths is the racecard key.
