10/3(+44%) | (4) A Great Buzz 10/3, Improved up in trip when 4 1/2l third in a handicap chase at Navan on her latest run; returning from a long layoff; effective from 2 1/2m to 3m, suited by cut, and progressing over fences for a stable in form. Trainer has his team in fine shape, should be taken seriously despite lack of a recent run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (4/1 +38%)James The Brave |
4/1(+38%) | (1) James The Brave 4/1, Went clear and improved up in trip under an aggressive ride when landing a handicap by a neck off 91 over 2m7f at Killarney last time; effective from 2 1/2m to 3m, acts on heavy and good ground, and remains well treated on his best hurdle form. Made a winning start over fences in a handicap at Killarney, respected off 6lb higher. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (11) (11/1 +73%)Plain Or Battered |
11/1(+73%) | (11) Plain Or Battered 11/1, Not a clear run and below form when down the field in a handicap hurdle at Cork most recently; a contender if bouncing back. Uneven form in four starts last season, trainer has a better chance with Duffys Hodey. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (3/1 -9%)Small Town Hero |
3/1(-9%) | (7) Small Town Hero 3/1, Cashed in on a lower chase mark when landing a handicap by 5 1/2l off 77 at Downpatrick last time; enjoys making the running; effective over 3m and acts on yielding and good ground, though this new mark demands much more. Four from four since joining this stable, up 16lb for chase win but may improve again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (11/2 +15%)Western Model |
11/2(+15%) | (3) Western Model 11/2, Ran to form when beaten 1 1/2l off 94 at Fairyhouse last time; effective over 3m and acts on yielding and good ground; consistent if occasionally frustrating. Three seconds over fences, good effort at Fairyhouse a month ago, stays well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (11/1 +0%)Hay Baby |
11/1(+0%) | (9) Hay Baby 11/1, Ran to form up in trip when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle over 2m5f at Limerick last time; consistent over hurdles and not without a chance on chase debut. Point winner, some promise over hurdles but will need to improve to score on chasing debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (18) (22/1 +56%)Imbolc |
22/1(+56%) | (18) Imbolc 22/1, Pulled up in a handicap chase over 3m2f at Wexford latest; returning from a break and remains out of form. Weak form over hurdles, has failed to complete in three starts over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (18/1 -80%)Lovely Reaction |
18/1(-80%) | (2) Lovely Reaction 18/1, Ran to form when beaten 2 1/2l off 105 over 2m4f at Cork last time; returning from a long absence and may prefer a slightly stiffer test; has a bit to find. One of three runners in the McManus colours, lengthy layoff to overcome, not badly treated. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (18/1 +36%)Ask Mike |
18/1(+36%) | (5) Ask Mike 18/1, Not a clear run and made mistakes but still ran to form when comfortably held in a hunter chase over 3m1f at Thurles last time; returning from a long layoff and looks the pick on race times. Point winner, hunter chase form is not very encouraging, others have more obvious claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (12) (25/1 -127%)Fox Le Bel |
25/1(-127%) | (12) Fox Le Bel 25/1, Ran to form when beaten 1/2l off 85 over 2m7f at Tipperary last time; returning after a very lengthy absence; consistent but can be frustrating. Very expensive to follow, 0-30 under rules, placed on 13 occasions, lacks a recent run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (17) (28/1 -12%)Captain Kate |
28/1(-12%) | (17) Captain Kate 28/1, Had every chance but failed to build on her debut when comfortably held in a handicap chase over 3m2f at Kilbeggan last time; off a short break and remains inconsistent in a short career. Fair sixth in two chase starts, needs to find extra, only six so improvement is feasible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (33/1 -32%)Mahler Appeal |
33/1(-32%) | (6) Mahler Appeal 33/1, Made mistakes and out of form when down the field in a handicap hurdle at Kilbeggan last time; needs to bounce back. Out of form last season, stays well but not a betting proposition on seasonal debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (16) (50/1 +24%)Eddies Pride |
50/1(+24%) | (16) Eddies Pride 50/1, Outpaced and continued in poor form when down the field in a handicap chase over 2m7f at Galway last time; suited by cut but out of form. Two chase wins at a modest level, out of form, tailed off at Galway and Sligo last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (14) (125/1 -56%)Spanish Maid |
125/1(-56%) | (14) Spanish Maid 125/1, Outpaced and needed the run when down the field in a handicap hurdle over 2m3f at Navan most recently; usually held up; off a short break and has plenty to find. Weak form over fences, no encouragement from her three most recent starts over hurdles. |

SMALL TOWN HERO can make it five from five since joining trainer Ian Donoghue. A former point-to-point winner, the son of Jet Away has scored three times over hurdles, as well as opening his account over fences last time. Despite a subsequent 16lb rise, the five-year-old remains 7lb below his hurdles mark. Western Model rates the biggest threat having finished runner-up in a stronger contest at Fairyhouse last month. Course winner Duffys Hodey is a definite contender too.

After going close on his seasonal debut last year, DUFFYS HODEY produced sustained improvement. He is potentially very well treated

1st (1) (9/1 -300%)Luminous Light |
9/1(-300%) | (1) Luminous Light 9/1, Conceded first run but ran to form when second, beaten 3l in a novice chase over 2m at Tramore last time; off a short break and a consistent performer. Flat/hurdles winner, won a novice handicap chase last season, fair chance in this grade. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (8/1 +27%)Glenashling |
8/1(+27%) | (7) Glenashling 8/1, Outclassed in a good race when fourth, beaten 35l, in a beginners' chase over 2m at Wexford last time; effective at 2m, likely to stay further, acts on good ground; debut form franked and could bounce back down in grade. Fair third on chasing debut at Fairyhouse, not as good at Wexford on second attempt. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (11/8 +75%)Coral River |
11/8(+75%) | (4) Coral River 11/8, Too keen and may have found the ground a bit quick when finishing down the field in a Listed handicap hurdle over 2m6f at Galway; returns from a break with his trainer in form and looks the pick on balance of form with drop in trip on easier ground a plus. Useful hurdler who has a definite chance if taking to chasing on his stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (66/1 -313%)Figurehead |
66/1(-313%) | (6) Figurehead 66/1, Ran to form when third, beaten 8l, in a beginners' chase over 2m2f at Thurles last time; effective between 2m and 2¼m, acts on yielding and good ground; in good form over fences though conditions could be a concern. No wins in a varied 41-race career, has adapted quite well to fences, might win a handicap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (20/1 -25%)Cappucino |
20/1(-25%) | (3) Cappucino 20/1, Made mistakes and was outpaced when well beaten on his chase debut in a beginners' chase at Fairyhouse; effective at 2m and acts on any ground but has a bit to prove over fences. Course winner over hurdles, tailed off on chasing debut, needs to provide reassurance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (7/2 -5%)Leave In Secret |
7/2(-5%) | (9) Leave In Secret 7/2, Improved on hurdle form but just flattened out late when fourth, beaten 5l, in a beginners' chase over 2m4f at Wexford; effective from 2m to 2½m, acts on soft and good ground; progressing and unexposed over fences. Winning hurdler on decent ground, showed that he could handle soft on penultimate start. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (4/1 -20%)Dont Tell Jack |
4/1(-20%) | (5) Dont Tell Jack 4/1, Well backed but below form when down the field in the Novice Handicap Hurdle Series Final (Listed) over 2m7f at Fairyhouse; wears a hood for the first time and could be a value selection on balance of form with promise of more to come down in trip over fences. Best hurdles run when 15l third to Ethical Diamond at this venue, has joined Enda Bolger. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) (12/1 +14%)Bridie's Beau |
12/1(+14%) | (2) Bridie's Beau 12/1, Made mistakes and was outpaced when comfortably held in a beginners' chase over 2m at Wexford last time; effective at around 2½m on soft ground; may need more time and longer trips over fences. Dual hurdles winner is rated 117 in that sphere, nothing like that form over fences so far. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) (125/1 -89%)Golden Temple |
125/1(-89%) | (8) Golden Temple 125/1, Made mistakes and never threatened when comfortably held in a beginners' chase over 2m4f at Down Royal last time; does not stay further than 2m4f and is out of form over hurdles and fences. Two hurdle wins on good ground; badly out of form this year, including two chase starts. |

It could pay to take a chance on DONT TELL JACK on his first start for Enda Bolger. A former point-to-point runner-up, the five-year-old shaped with plenty of promise in maiden hurdles against some of the better novices last season. Although very disappointing when sent off a short price for a Listed handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse on his final start of the campaign, that was almost certainly not his true running. He wouldn't be the first horse to recapture his best following a switch to the County Limerick trainer. Already a winner over fences, Luminous Light has to be respected, along with Coral River.

It may be worth taking a chance with CORAL RIVER who ran well in a competitive hurdle race here at last season's festival

125/1(-346%) | (11) Pennies In A Well 125/1, Ribchester filly; dam was useful at 10f; may just need this initial experience. Dam French 8.5f AW winner but might not appreciate this ground. |

Sent off favourite when sixth in a similar race at Cork last month, INFINITY SUCCES can recover losses. Having shown promise before running green in the latter stages of that contest, it is interesting that trainer Declan Queally has elected to fit the daughter of Latrobe with first-time blinkers here. If that headgear works the oracle, it would be no surprise to see the filly win a race like this. A half-sister to black-type horses both on the Flat and over hurdles, newcomer Ritz Plan looks a filly to note. It will be interesting to see if there is any market support, while Highland Crystal is another debutant to consider.

HIGHLAND CRYSTAL could be the answer. Her dam is a half-sister to Envoi Allen and she might be good enough on her debut

1st (5) (40/1 -233%)Sopelana |
40/1(-233%) | (5) Sopelana 40/1, Outclassed when fourth, beaten 36l, in a juvenile hurdle over 2m1f at Down Royal last time. Effective over 2m on soft and good ground. A hurdles winner but has shown little on the Flat. Won on soft at Ballinrobe in September; poor in two starts since but should enjoy ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (15/2 +6%)I'll Be Handy |
15/2(+6%) | (3) I'll Be Handy 15/2, Ran to form when second, beaten 4 1/2l, in a maiden hurdle at Fairyhouse, appreciating a more positive ride. Trainer in good form. Effective at 2m and acts on any ground. Progressing and remains competitive. Runner-up in 3yo maiden at Fairyhouse (2m, soft to heavy) nine days ago; in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (5/4 +55%)Mode Avion |
5/4(+55%) | (4) Mode Avion 5/4, Made a promising debut with a 2l win in a juvenile bumper over 12f at Le Lion-D'Angers. Wears a tongue-tie for the first time and should be thereabouts on hurdle/stable debut. Won 1m4f newcomers AQPS Flat race; reportedly schooling well at home; big player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (2/1 -150%)In My Teens |
2/1(-150%) | (7) In My Teens 2/1, Ran to form when second, beaten 1/2l, in a handicap over 10f at The Curragh last time. Flat winner proved useful in that sphere and has leading claims for top connections on hurdling debut. Rated 98 on the Flat, has to be high on the shortlist on hurdles bow. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (9/2 +40%)In The Minus |
9/2(+40%) | (1) In The Minus 9/2, Improved for a ready win when landing a maiden hurdle at Galway by 5l last time. Effective over 2m and handles soft and good ground. Progressing but will need more to defy the penalty. Galway winner on latest; penalty to carry in deeper race and would prefer better ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (200/1 -60%)Ahellofaman |
200/1(-60%) | (2) Ahellofaman 200/1, Found little after briefly threatening when down the field in a maiden hurdle at Fairyhouse last time. Best watched for now over hurdles. Well related but never a factor in a bumper and hurdle to date; unlikely winner. |

A 98-rated filly on the Flat, IN MY TEENS looks an exciting recruit to jumping. A maiden winner on the level at Down Royal in June, the Gavin Cromwell-trained daughter of Camelot was subsequently runner-up in two above-average contests. Connections have wasted little time in making the switch to hurdling, something that suggests the filly may well have impressed in her schooling. French bumper winner Mode Avion is the obvious alternative. While the form of that race has yet to be tested, the Taj Mahal gelding could do no more than win and is in the right hands to progress. In The Minus carries a penalty for his Galway success but is still a major contender.

Gordon Eliott's MODE AVION is reportedly schooling well at home and the French AQPS Flat winner could be tough to beat on his Irish bow

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (25/1 -25%)Can Happen |
25/1(-25%) | (3) Can Happen 25/1, Outpaced and below debut form when comfortably held in a maiden hurdle at Fairyhouse last time; acts with cut and may need further than 2m to be seen to best effect. Has shown enough promise to suggest he can win a race but faces a stiff task here. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (20) (150/1 -50%)On The High Seas |
150/1(-50%) | (20) On The High Seas 150/1, Outpaced and modest on debut when well beaten in a maiden hurdle here on only start; pedigree suggests easier ground will suit but has plenty to prove. Dam won a bumper, big price first time out at this venue and ran accordingly. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (14) (66/1 -100%)The Dancen Kid |
66/1(-100%) | (14) The Dancen Kid 66/1, Dansant gelding; half-brother to War Anthem, a fair performer at around 16f. Eighth foal; half-brother to a 2m hurdle winner, in good hands, leading rider aboard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (15) (80/1 -186%)The Shanty Field |
80/1(-186%) | (15) The Shanty Field 80/1, Workforce gelding; the yard can get them ready first time and the market may offer clues. Brother to point winner Force In Milan, dam bumper winner, comes from a respected source. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

80/1(-60%) | (10) Lunar Landscape 80/1, Outclassed when stepped up in grade and not suited by the ground when finishing down the field in a 10f handicap at The Curragh last time; faces a stiff task. Placed six times on the Flat, never threatened on only juvenile hurdles start in 2023. |

150/1(+0%) | (1) Ardgillan 150/1, Outpaced and modest on debut when finishing down the field in a maiden hurdle at Gowran Park last time; yet to show much under rules. Nothing in two bumper runs or a first hurdles run to suggest he can play a featuring part. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (16) (66/1 -65%)Cool Summer |
66/1(-65%) | (16) Cool Summer 66/1, Failed to build on hurdles debut when well beaten in a maiden hurdle at Thurles last time; effective over 2m on decent ground but looks up against it. Placed on the first of two maiden hurdles outings, hard to fancy in this company. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
15th (11) (66/1 0%)Simpson's Paradox |
66/1(0%) | (11) Simpson's Paradox 66/1, Ran to form when beaten 3l in a handicap over 8f at Gowran Park last time; effective at 1m and suited by cut but currently out of form in both codes. Flat winner regressive in 2024, well beaten in two races over hurdles, fair recent run. |

17th (19) (125/1 -150%)Lizzymac |
125/1(-150%) | (19) Lizzymac 125/1, 19,000 euros Capri filly; half-sister to Cadell, a useful performer from 23f to 26f. Fourth foal, closely related to hurdle/chase winner Cadell, half-sister to a point winner. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
18th (8) (100/1 +33%)Just Dennis |
100/1(+33%) | (8) Just Dennis 100/1, Fell early in a maiden hurdle over 2m1f at Galway last time; returning from a break and showed nothing in three summer maidens, leaving plenty to prove. Tailed off in maidens at Cork and Ballinrobe, fell at first at Galway, no apparent chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
19th (2) (125/1 -25%)Call Me Flash |
125/1(-25%) | (2) Call Me Flash 125/1, Imperial Monarch gelding; the yard has yet to record a winner this year and he is best watched. First foal, dam unplaced, sister to a point winner, not one of the more obvious contenders. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
20th (13) (100/1 -150%)Tarquin The Proud |
100/1(-150%) | (13) Tarquin The Proud 100/1, Shantaram gelding; half-brother to Carlo Du Berlais, a moderate performer at 23f. Half-brother to 3m chase winner Carlo Du Berlais, unraced dam, likely to need experience. |

Dual bumper winner COLCANNON looks the horse to beat on his hurdling debut. A Grade 2 winner at Leopardstown in February, the Noel Meade-trained gelding ended his campaign with a highly creditable third in the Grade 1 bumper at the Festival here. A horse who has run well fresh in the past, he is sure to be well schooled. Koktail Brut, who was fourth behind the selection in the aforementioned Leopardstown bumper, looks the danger. A point-to-point winner, the Gordon Elliott-trained gelding has already proven he can jump. Limerick fourth Splendid Fellow is a dark horse who shouldn't be discounted, despite taking on a couple of smart rivals.

Two good bumper horses clash. COLCANNON, third in the Grade 1 bumper at this venue, can confirm Leopardstown form with Koktail Brut

1st (1) (10/11 +44%)Powerful |
10/11(+44%) | (1) Powerful 10/11, Ran to form when just flattening out late after a break, finishing a 10l third in a maiden hurdle at Navan on his latest start. Off a short break again; effective over 2m with cut, and his opening mark looks lenient. Narrow defeat at Kilbeggan; third at Navan in September; should offer more handicapping. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (12/1 -20%)Zuzukel |
12/1(-20%) | (4) Zuzukel 12/1, Ran to form when beaten 6l in a 10f handicap at The Curragh on his latest outing. Has a bit to find back over hurdles. Never figured in 6 starts over hurdles but good efforts on the Flat of late; watch market. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (4/1 -45%)Dont Go Yet |
4/1(-45%) | (3) Dont Go Yet 4/1, Ran to form appreciating the drop in trip when beaten 2 1/4l off 122 here last time. Thrown in on chase form and likely to have a bit more to come in this discipline. 19lb lower mark back over hurdles; major player if primed after a break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (15/2 +32%)Space Warrior |
15/2(+32%) | (5) Space Warrior 15/2, Had no obvious excuse when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Cork last time. Blinkers go on for the first time; effective over 2m on good or soft ground but currently out of form. Midfield here last month but disappointing at Cork 11 days ago; blinkers now reached for. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (11/2 +66%)Marelly |
11/2(+66%) | (6) Marelly 11/2, Found little when down the field in a handicap hurdle at Wexford most recently. Effective over 2m and needs some give; inconsistent but the handicapper has eased his mark, and easier ground will suit. Good penultimate run at Galway; best form in the mud; Tiernan Power Roche is back on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (25/1 -233%)Felicity Smoak |
25/1(-233%) | (8) Felicity Smoak 25/1, Raced freely and did too much too soon when beaten 8l in a maiden hurdle at Cork last time. Effective over 2m and acts on good ground; opening mark looks fair though conditions may be a concern. 7th in Cork maiden 4 weeks ago; market will reveal expectations on handicap hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (25/1 -25%)Speakasyoufind |
25/1(-25%) | (7) Speakasyoufind 25/1, Outpaced and in need of a stiffer test when well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Galway latest. Usually held up; effective from 2m to 2 1/4m and could improve when returned to a longer trip. In rear and never a factor on handicap debut at Galway last month; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (25/1 -257%)Gone For Tea |
25/1(-257%) | (2) Gone For Tea 25/1, Well held up in grade and on a stiff mark when down the field in a 2m1f handicap hurdle at Galway last time. Returns from a long absence and has something to prove. Off the track 470 days; first run for new yard; wants better ground; opposable. |

Although clearly a better chaser, DONT GO YET is difficult to ignore off this mark. Rated 19lb lower over flights, the Edward Cawley-trained veteran has twice finished runner-up in this code and almost certainly has a race in him. Last seen when taking minor honours in a Listed handicap chase at the Festival here in May, the 11-year-old is worth chancing. Zuzukel has yet to reach the frame in 12 starts, but gives the impression that he is capable of better. A strong traveller who doesn't always find as much as expected, he is likely to be held up for a late run. Gone For Tea has to be respected on stable debut.

A few here with ground concerns but no such worries for MARELLY, who thrives in the mud and can finally get back to the winner's circle

1st (2) (4/6 +62%)Yeshil |
4/6(+62%) | (2) Yeshil 4/6, Green and made mistakes when needing the run on hurdle debut, well beaten in a maiden hurdle over 2m at Leopardstown last time; returning from a long layoff; effective at 2m; bumper form looks strong and there should be more to come over hurdles. Fine second in the 2024 Goffs Defender Bumper, ran in a good maiden last Christmas. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (5/2 -200%)Vitorio Piel |
5/2(-200%) | (1) Vitorio Piel 5/2, Below form on hurdle debut, set it up for a closer when comfortably held in a maiden hurdle over 2m here last time; effective at 2m; bumper form has been franked and there should be more to come over hurdles. Course winner of a 20-runner bumper, excuse offered for odds-on defeat on hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (10/1 +29%)Jonny Carrol |
10/1(+29%) | (6) Jonny Carrol 10/1, Ran to form when comfortably held in a maiden hurdle over 2m1f at Tipperary last time; effective from 2m to 2½m and acts on good ground; from a good yard but past form has had knocks, so a bit more is needed back from a break. Needs to raise his game to win a maiden judged on displays at Limerick and Tipperary. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (10/1 -11%)Eagle's Quest |
10/1(-11%) | (5) Eagle's Quest 10/1, Modest flat debut, down the field in a maiden over 12f at The Curragh most recently; consistent in bumpers and a value selection based on the balance of form. Fair form in bumpers, not a bad run in midfield in a recent 1m4f Curragh maiden. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (300/1 -200%)Kofino |
300/1(-200%) | (3) Kofino 300/1, Poor debut, well beaten in a maiden hurdle over 2m4f at Clonmel last time; yet to show any ability in points or under rules. Pulled up in two points, soundly beaten in a bumper and a maiden hurdle in April. |

With a valid excuse for his odds-on defeat here on his hurdling debut, VITORIO PIEL can make amends. A bumper winner at this track on his introduction back in May, the Emmet Mullins-trained gelding was sent off a strong favourite on his return, but failed to give his running having been struck into. This looks a nice opportunity for the son of Spanish Moon to register a first victory over hurdles. Following a promising stable debut in a good maiden hurdle at Leopardstown over Christmas, Yeshil is entitled to be very competitive. Campbell Black has shaped well enough in two starts to date to be competitive now.

A stylish debut bumper winner at the festival here in May, VITORIO PIEL had an excuse for his eclipse on hurdling debut at the venue

20/1(-135%) | (7) My Good Pal 20/1, Returned to form when 5l third in a 2m4f handicap hurdle here last time; effective around 2 1/2m on good ground; generally reliable but conditions could test him. Back to form when third of 20 here last month but best form is on decent ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (21) (11/1 -22%)Yoursimplythebest |
11/1(-22%) | (21) Yoursimplythebest 11/1, Showed some improvement when beaten 2l off 75 in a 2m4f handicap hurdle at Sligo last time; effective around 2 1/2m on good ground; needs to confirm that form on easier going. Third of 11 at Sligo off this mark last month; no form in the mud would be a concern. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (15) (5/1 +58%)Spanish John |
5/1(+58%) | (15) Spanish John 5/1, Won by 4l off 57 over 12f at Bellewstown three starts ago and ran to form when ninth, beaten 11l off 66 last time; effective at 12f and acts on any ground; maintained good form across both codes this summer. Thrown in off 86 over hurdles if he can put it all together; won off this mark in the past. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (22) (28/1 +15%)Rideau Canal |
28/1(+15%) | (22) Rideau Canal 28/1, Outpaced and unsuited by the drop in trip when down the field in a 2m1f handicap hurdle at Cork; returning from a break and likely to prefer further than 2m. Not a bad effort when 5th at this course over 3m in June but has generally been regressive. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (20) (80/1 +20%)Rajjnatin |
80/1(+20%) | (20) Rajjnatin 80/1, Outpaced and never threatened when down the field in a 2m4f handicap hurdle here last time; effective at 2 1/2m but yet to show any worthwhile ability. Never a factor in eight career runs and handicap company hasn't helped; safe to rule out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (11/1 +61%)Great Island |
11/1(+61%) | (6) Great Island 11/1, Probably needed the run when below form up in grade, well beaten in a 2m4f handicap hurdle at Navan last time; trainer in good form; returning from a long layoff and holds an outside chance. Only had one run last season when tailed off at Navan; best watched after 257-day absence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (11) (40/1 -60%)Sean Mc |
40/1(-60%) | (11) Sean Mc 40/1, Ran to form but never threatened when down the field in a 2m maiden hurdle at Naas last time; effective at 2m and handles soft ground; plenty more needed to defy this opening mark. No good in four maidens but could be of interest now handicapping; watch the betting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (4) (13/2 -8%)Welcome Aboard |
13/2(-8%) | (4) Welcome Aboard 13/2, Finished strongly when beaten 2l off 93 over 3m here last time after benefitting from a late pace collapse; still unexposed and can win off this mark. Big improver on handicap debut; shorter trip not sure to suit but respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (1) (14/1 -40%)Accustomed |
14/1(-40%) | (1) Accustomed 14/1, Improved when stepped back up in trip, finishing second and beaten 11l in a maiden hurdle over 2m4f here last time; effective at around 2 1/2m on yielding or good ground; needs to confirm that latest progress but could be well treated. Second in course maiden last month; chance on handicap bow but faces different conditions. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (3) (5/1 +23%)Aswellasabentley |
5/1(+23%) | (3) Aswellasabentley 5/1, Travelled well and ran to form before flattening out late when fourth, beaten 5 1/2l, in a 2m1f handicap hurdle at Downpatrick last time; effective between 2m and 2 1/4m on soft or good ground; showing steady progress. Best work at finish when fourth at Downpatrick last month; step up in trip should suit. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (14) (7/2 +42%)Without Exception |
7/2(+42%) | (14) Without Exception 7/2, Stable won this last year; ran to form benefitting from a pace collapse when beaten 1 1/2l off 84 at Fairyhouse; effective at 2 1/2m and suited by soft ground; progressive and may stay 3m. Course winner on heavy in February; fine return effort at Fairyhouse; shortlisted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (5) (14/1 +0%)Blue Reed |
14/1(+0%) | (5) Blue Reed 14/1, Made mistakes and faded back down in trip, doing too much early when well held over 2m at Kilbeggan last time; did best of those who raced prominently; returns from a short break and rates a leading contender on race times. Runner-up in successive handicap hurdles at the start of the year on easy ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
15th (19) (12/1 -33%)Ballinaboola Jet |
12/1(-33%) | (19) Ballinaboola Jet 12/1, Improved on recent form when beaten 2 1/2l off 76 over 2m4f at Wexford last time; effective around 2 1/2m but not one to rely on repeating that effort. Just behind Roccabaker last time; can challenge for the places again if building on that. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
16th (13) (16/1 -100%)Roccabaker |
16/1(-100%) | (13) Roccabaker 16/1, Returned to form back up in trip when beaten 2l off 85 over 2m4f at Wexford last time; effective around 2 1/2m on soft ground; well treated now proven ability remains and holds strong claims. Runner-up at Wexford (2m4f, yielding) on latest; should be in the mix again up 2lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (24) (100/1 -100%)Ponderosa Lady |
100/1(-100%) | (24) Ponderosa Lady 100/1, Disappointing on handicap debut when down the field over 2m6f at Ballinrobe; visor on for the first time; usually held up and returning from a short break; modest maiden who may stay 3m. Well beaten in three maidens; always in rear on handicap bow at Ballinrobe; visor; reserve. |

SPANISH JOHN looks to have decent claims for trainer Pat Fahy. Twice successful on the Flat this year, the seven-year-old appears well treated back over flights relative to that mark. Having landed his sole previous victory over hurdles off an identical rating, he has plenty in his favour and with Harry Sexton claiming 7lb, it is difficult to see him not playing a leading role. Aswellasabentley has to be respected on what is only his third run for Gavin Cromwell, and stepping back up in trip should suit. Welcome Aboard, who finished third here on his handicap debut, is entitled to be all the better for that experience.

SPANISH JOHN (nap) is running off a lenient mark back over hurdles and will handle underfoot conditions
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
