13:20 Southwell (Class 4) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

SHEBARA got closest to a short-priced favourite with previous experience when making an encouraging debut at Kempton and that just about sets the standard. She has slightly more scope for improvement than Areti, although the daughter of Hello Youmzain certainly has the talent to get involved. Bint Kilfrush cost 550,000 euros as a yearling and has to be taken seriously ahead of her introduction.

There are some interesting newcomers on show and BINT KILFRUSH is tentatively preferred to Arrivera.

13:55 Southwell (Class 4) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Luminare and Chale Chalo both arrive after doubling their career win tallies, while Galileo Island is reliable and possibly bumped into a well-treated Godolphin youngster at Kempton. Generous Rascal is interesting now going handicapping but so is TACTICAL FORMATION, who cost 360,000gns at the breeze-ups and has shown a decent level of ability so far. The step up from 6f might see him in a better light and his initial mark of 73 could be lenient.

7f is an unknown for GENEROUS RASCAL but he has shown plenty of ability and doesn't look overburdened for his handicap debut.

14:30 Southwell (Class 2) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

Coul Angel found only one too good when attempting to complete a Kempton hat-trick, a day before Eminency broke his all-weather duck at Chelmsford. Ten Pounds and Lakers have been given a bit of time to freshen up since victories at Kempton and here respectively, as has Yarmouth scorer Caburn, who tries the all-weather for the first time. So Darn Hot and We Never Stop will have supporters and so will POCKLINGTON, who is becoming expensive to follow but through no fault of his own, and can show his appreciation for the return to 6f.

A New Year's Day treat for sprint handicap fans. POCKLINGTON (nap) may reverse last June's Newcastle placings with Fivethousandtoone

15:05 Southwell (Class 6) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

THE TUNGUSKA EVENT won on his handicap bow at Newcastle over this trip and connections have found him a good opening to bounce back from a disappointing showing there last time. Mereside Princess could take a step forward in first-time cheekpieces and is one to consider closely, while similar sentiments apply to Maynora now his connections reach for the blinkers.

This looks ripe for an improver to step forward. AL NAJASHI is marginally preferred to Dartrey and Rogue Rebellion.

15:44 Southwell (Class 6) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

GREY HORIZON is taking his racing well and the Catterick winner has performed soundly in defeat in two starts since reverting to the all-weather. The latest of those efforts was a third at Wolverhampton on Boxing Day and another bold showing looks assured. Of the others, it would be foolish to dismiss both Chelmsford winner Rosieisme Darling and Petes Diamond.

Grey Horizon, Saeculamation and ROSIEISME DARLING all arrive in good form and the last-named can follow up her Chelmsford win.

16:15 Southwell (Class 3) 12f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

ANOTHER RUN was an eyecatcher in defeat at Kempton last time when not getting the clearest of runs at a crucial stage. A distance scorer there the time before, he makes plenty of appeal and should go very close with normal luck in running. Chemistry showed he handles the all-weather with a solid fourth over the extended 2m here, while Enemy and Assail are a couple more to consider.

Humble Spark is primed to go well but ANOTHER RUN still looked ahead of his mark at Kempton and gets the vote.

16:50 Southwell (Class 2) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

BLUE RC filled the runner-up spot for the second time running when narrowly denied over a mile at Chelmsford three weeks ago and it would be no surprise to see him go one better here, despite a 1lb rise. Two Tempting was a place behind the selection on that occasion and could pose the biggest threat, while Popmaster is next best.

The prospect of a tactical event dents confidence slightly but the progressive BLUE RC can confirm Chelmsford placings with his rivals.

17:20 Southwell (Class 4) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Following a narrow victory at Kempton a month ago, BUCCABAY could follow up off just 3lb higher in this competitive contest. The son of Saxon Warrior has a good record on the all-weather and may have further improvement to come. Oriental Prince was narrowly denied off this mark at Newcastle last time and has to be noted, while similar comments apply to Stanley Spencer. Others to note are Filly One, Prince Of Pillo and Gunlock.

Buccabay has some handicapping scope on the AW but GUNLOCK looks well worth trying over 6f following a good 7f win at Kempton.
