2nd (6) (9/1 +25%)Birkenhead |
9/1(+25%) | (6) Birkenhead 9/1, Ran to form when beaten 1 1/4l off a 1lb lower mark here last time. Returning from a break; suited by 5f and acts on any surface; in good form and likes to dominate. Multiple 5f wins, two here; off since September and tends to need the run after a break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (10/3 0%)Emperor's Son |

Below form last time and runs off the same mark here; effective at 5f on all-weather; needs more on debut for new yard. Six 5f wins at Wolverhampton; has C&D form but high in weights and others more likely. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (9/4 +25%)Popular Dream |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (7/2 +30%)Beaumadier |
7/2(+30%) | (3) Beaumadier 7/2, Scored by 3 1/2l off a 8lb lower mark at Wolverhampton in November; ran to form when third last time, 2lb lower here; effective at 5f, acts on S, G and AW; has been in good form, could go well. Steep rise in weights for Wolverhampton win in October but H Vigors' 7lb claim is helpful. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

EMPEROR'S SON was able to build on a couple of positive efforts to score at Wolverhampton and looks to have been found another excellent chance, with Warren Fentiman's claim negating the 3lb rise incurred. A 5lb penalty asks more of Popular Dream but he merits respect, as do Beaumadier and Brazilian Belle, who were defeated by the aforementioned pair last time. There is still plenty of life in nine-year-old Birkenhead and he is by no means out of this.

The lack of course experience needn't weigh too heavily on EMPEROR'S SON (nap) and he can follow up his recent Wolverhampton win.

LAURENS DREAM lost little in defeat when chasing home a subsequent winner at Newcastle on Friday and, kept to this level, compensation might await Mick and David Easterby's four-year-old. Zaramara needs to find some improvement, but she has few miles on the clock and is likely to appreciate an ease in class. On these terms, Headshot should make his presence felt.

Having made an encouraging classified debut four days ago, LAURENS DREAM is preferred. My Boy Jack is second pick.

Turned out quickly under a penalty, this appears to be all about PINK SOCKS. Ian Williams' mare bolted up in a similar event at Newcastle on Saturday and although she's not been the most reliable previously, this will not take much winning. There are a few class droppers to be wary of, namely dual course winner Kodebreaker, who has posted a few positive efforts in handicaps of late. Aim For The Bull has yet to score, but last month's C&D second suggests he ought to be more than capable.

Judged on the manner of her Newcastle win, PINK SOCKS looks set to defy a penalty. American Rose is second choice.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

INVITED appreciated a drop to this level when he making all over a mile at Lingfield and a 2lb rise looks fair. However, he is likely to face competition for the lead on this occasion and still needs to raise his game back over 7f. Shiplake went up 7lb for November's C&D success and now requires another personal best. Therefore, Good Morning Alex, who has won on the back of a break previously, could be a bigger danger with his effectiveness at this course also proven.

Stuart Williams has his string in fine nick so new recruit CANDONOMORE, a three-time scorer in 2025, is taken to give him another win

From a top course trainer; effective over 5f to 6f on a sound surface; has been running well in cheekpieces and should remain competitive. 0-10 but he ended 2025 with four second-place finishes; should be involved once again. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (16/1 +36%)Pickering Castle |
16/1(+36%) | (4) Pickering Castle 16/1, No show from off the pace, beaten 8l in a handicap at Lingfield last time. Trainer in form; effective over 6f to 7f and acts on all-weather; mark continues to ease. Well short of his best on last two starts but now drops in class with his yard going well. |

33/1(-18%) | (9) Dapperling 33/1, A bit below form when beaten 4l in a handicap here last time. Effective over 5f to 6f and acts on all-weather; inconsistent, with slow starts proving an issue. Promise over 5f here last month but no so good behind Ottawa over C&D 26 days ago. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

CARGIN BHUI returned from a break with a close second at Wolverhampton 11 days ago and can go one better this time. Rated 82 at his peak, he's now too well treated to ignore, especially with his match-fitness topped up. Showtime Mahomes shoulders a 4lb penalty having won over C&D last week and this represents a drop in class. He rates a bigger danger than Ottawa, who was a surprise winner here last month and needs to prove that wasn't a fluke.

Although CARGIN BHUI was beaten at odds-on last time, the mare that beat him was well handicapped and enjoyed the run of the race.

7/1(+50%) | (6) Pantheon Princess 7/1, 17,000gns Mohaather filly; half-sister to Keke, smart at 5f. Has a wide draw and looks an unlikely winner on debut, though this is a weak race. 17,000gns foal; by Mohaather; looks one of the better types among the debutantes. |

100/1(-400%) | (8) Sequential 100/1, Charming Thought filly; half-sister to The Meter, useful at 7f as a 2yo. Has a wide draw and faces a tough enough task on debut. Charming Thought filly; yard not associated with debut scorers. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

With an official rating of just 71, Love Alive sets only a modest standard. However, reverting to novice company could be a good move and she is one to monitor closely in the betting. Nevertheless, AUTUMN AFFAIR was a respectable second to a now 84-rated opponent on her racecourse debut at Wolverhampton last month and it's logical to suggest the filly can take a step forward with the benefit of experience. Pantheon Princess and Maybe Soon are interesting newcomers in a moderate event.

Wolverhampton runner-up AUTUMN AFFAIR is taken to go one better and emulate her siblings by winning on AW second time out.

Although foiled in his hat-trick bid when finishing a close-up second over C&D recently, ZIGGY'S TRITON lost little in defeat. The four-year-old makes plenty of appeal from an unchanged mark and the introduction of a visor may prove fruitful. Paddy's Day secured an eighth all-weather triumph at Newcastle last month and may serve the most resistance to the selection, ahead of fellow in-form rival Alligator Alley.

Judged on his recent C&D form, ZIGGY'S TRITON holds particularly solid claims. Atomic Force is second choice.

In good form at Newcastle (1m4f/1m2f); return to this trip will suit; first course run. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Having opened his account in fine style at Wolverhampton, Codiak merits consideration on his return to handicap company. However, the four-year-old is now 7lb higher than for his close-up second at Redcar in November and CANNON ROCK may prove to be better treated. James Owen's charge has been rejuvenated since having blinkers applied last month and a 5lb rise for his most recent success looks workable. Machete can make his presence felt too.

A competitive race may go to CANNON ROCK who is still on a reasonably tempting mark despite a Wolverhampton win last time out.
Ths is the racecard key.
