Usually held up and bred to stay this trip, but has plenty to prove despite the trainer being in form. Well held all four starts, including on handicap debut when ninth at Newcastle last month.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

HIMSELF arrives here on the back of two wins over 1m6f last month and a 4lb rise for the latest of those victories may not be enough to stop him from making it a hat-trick. Forglen and Fornido are closely matched based on their Lingfield encounter three weeks ago and are likely to go well once again, while Damzon is next best.

Himself bids for a fourth success in his last five starts but FORGLEN is 10lb better off with that rival.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (11/2 0%)Ziggy's Queen |
11/2(0%) | (6) Ziggy's Queen 11/2, Won by a short-head off a 4lb lower mark at Wolverhampton three starts ago. Suited by 6f and now back in form, she remains competitive based on that recent evidence. Arrives in good form and conditions won't faze her; likely to be in the shake up. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(7) (7/1 -75%)So Sassy |
7/1(-75%) | (7) So Sassy 7/1, Ran to form when beaten a length off a 2lb lower mark at Lingfield last time. Effective at 6f to 7f but her current mark asks for more than she has shown recently. Reliable filly but a 2lb rise for her latest Lingfield second could leave her vulnerable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(8) (17/2 +23%)Court Drive |
17/2(+23%) | (8) Court Drive 17/2, Ran roughly to form when beaten 3 1/2l off a 1lb higher mark at Kempton last time. Effective at 6f and in fair winter form, now just 1lb above her last winning mark. Not at her best on her last two starts and others bring more compelling claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (10/1 -82%)Handle With Care |
10/1(-82%) | (4) Handle With Care 10/1, Scored by a head off a 2lb lower mark at Lingfield two starts ago but was a bit below form when third, beaten 3l off 74 last time. Wide draw to contend with but little other early pace so dangerous if allowed to dictate. Lingfield winner in December (7f); no improvement for headgear latest; much more needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (40/1 -82%)Pineapple Island |
40/1(-82%) | (1) Pineapple Island 40/1, Had every chance but ran below form when beaten 5l in a handicap at Newcastle last time. Effective at 5f and now needs to show that ability remains after that modest effort. Glimmer of promise for new yard this winter; drops in class; not solid but can't discount. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

SO SASSY has been running well in defeat since winning over 6f at Lingfield in August and the four-year-old was a close second at that venue when last seen in January. On that evidence, she is the marginal pick in a wide-open event. Ziggy's Queen and Handle With Care are others with strong form claims, while Mereside Diva and Brazilian Rose are also noted.

Having bumped into an interesting opponent here eight days ago MERESIDE DIVA is taken to go one better back against her own sex.

(9) (7/4 +56%)Charles Darnay |
7/4(+56%) | (9) Charles Darnay 7/4, Raced too freely but shaped very well on debut over an inadequate trip when beaten 2 1/2l in a novice at Lingfield. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (5/2 +29%)Tiger Power |
5/2(+29%) | (5) Tiger Power 5/2, Ran to form under a penalty when third, beaten 3 1/4l, in a novice at Newcastle last time. Returns from a break with his trainer in form, and he looked talented on debut as a big, rangy colt. Winning debut last September and fair 3rd under penalty later that month; 1m should suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (4/1 +20%)Dakota Breeze |
4/1(+20%) | (6) Dakota Breeze 4/1, Probably a touch green but finished well when runner-up, beaten 3 1/2l, in a novice at Newcastle on his only start. 13/2(-44%) | (4) Kurios Lady 13/2, Showed improvement when making good late headway under a considerate ride, finishing third beaten 2 1/2l in a maiden here last time. Looks the type to get further than 1m and is a big, strong, workmanlike sort. Both runs over C&D, showing a fair level of ability when 3rd last month; capable of better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(8) (15/2 -125%)Seattle Chief |
15/2(-125%) | (8) Seattle Chief 15/2, 85,000gns Sergei Prokofiev gelding; half-brother to El Caballo, high-class at 6f and a Group 2 winner for this yard; dam very useful at 5f; top trainer. 85,000gns foal from a good family, several of whom have won on debut; a newcomer of note. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(11) (11/1 -10%)Havana's Tune |
11/1(-10%) | (11) Havana's Tune 11/1, 13,000gns Havana Gold gelding; dam poor at 7f at 2yo; half brother a Listed winner in Italy; cheekpieces first time. Half-brother to a Listed winner in Italy; wears headgear on debut; betting to guide. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(12) (14/1 +44%)Saint Of The Sea |
14/1(+44%) | (12) Saint Of The Sea 14/1, Not knocked about too much when well beaten on debut in a novice at Newbury. Comes from a top course trainer, but remains difficult to fancy on what he has shown so far. Attracted support on Newbury debut last summer but finished well held; should do better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(10) (125/1 -25%)Cobalt Comet |
125/1(-25%) | (10) Cobalt Comet 125/1, £2,500 Massaat gelding; half-brother to Dercol, fair at 6f; dam fair at 6f though never won; hood first time. Minor appeal on paper and stable not associated with winning newcomers; hooded for debut. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (300/1 -100%)Sweetstevie |
300/1(-100%) | (2) Sweetstevie 300/1, Put up a poor effort on debut when well beaten in a maiden here on his only start. Sprint-bred and arrives with questions to answer on the evidence so far. Beaten over 18l when tenth of 11 in a C&D maiden 18 days ago; a big step forward is needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (300/1 -20%)Raja Charger |
300/1(-20%) | (1) Raja Charger 300/1, Green and outpaced on debut when third, beaten 27l, in a novice at Newcastle. That was his only run to date; wears a tongue-tie for the first time here, returns from a break, and has plenty to prove. 125-1 when a tailed-off last of three at Newcastle four months ago (1m); now tongue tied. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (300/1 -355%)Splinterwood |
300/1(-355%) | (3) Splinterwood 300/1, Still green and ran to the level of his debut form when comfortably held in a novice at Wolverhampton last time. Trained by a yard that does well here, but he looks likely to need more time. Well held in 7f novice runs here and at Wolverhampton this winter; minor handicaps beckon. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

DAKOTA BREEZE displayed plenty of promise when second on his debut over 7f at Newcastle a couple of weeks ago. With the benefit of that experience, Archie Watson's colt could be hard to beat here. That said, Tiger Power is an obvious threat having won on debut at Haydock and he was not disgraced under a penalty last time. Any market support for Seattle Chief would have to be noted.

Stepping up to 1m can see CHARLES DARNAY build on his promising debut at Lingfield. Seattle Chief is a newcomer to take seriously.

(5) (7/4 +42%)Hackney Diamonds |
7/4(+42%) | (5) Hackney Diamonds 7/4, Scored by 1 1/2l off a 5lb lower mark here on her penultimate start. Ran to form when second, beaten 4 1/4l off 63 last time on the same mark, and remains well treated on old efforts. 2-2 at the track and the form of her 1m4f win last month is strong; major player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(7) (9/2 -100%)Noss Mayo |
9/2(-100%) | (7) Noss Mayo 9/2, Ran to form when landing a handicap by 1 1/2l off a 4lb lower mark at Newcastle last time. Effective at 10f, she is in form and may have a bit more to offer now she has had her head in front. Two good runs since a visor went on last month; 4lb rise for latest win not insurmountable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (5/1 -25%)Enthused |
5/1(-25%) | (6) Enthused 5/1, Ran to form when beaten 2l off this mark at Chelmsford last time. Effective up to 12f, his enthusiasm can be a worry but he is back in form and the longer trip should suit. Infrequent Flat winner these days but arrives on the back of two placed efforts; e-w shout. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

17/2(-113%) | (3) Seraphic 17/2, Scored by 2l off a 4lb lower mark at Chelmsford on his penultimate start. Effective over 10-12f, he is a tricky hold-up ride but is in form and remains on a workable mark. Beat Enthused at Chelmsford last month before a disappointing finishing effort last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

17/2(-21%) | (2) Brodie's Boy 17/2, Had every chance but ran below form when beaten 9l in a handicap here last time. Effective over 10-12f and his mark continues to tumble, though he remains unreliable. Drops into his first Class 6 but short of his best in two of his last three starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (10/1 +60%)The Bay Warrior |
10/1(+60%) | (4) The Bay Warrior 10/1, Made too much use of when finishing down the field in a handicap at Lingfield most recently. Suited by 11-13f, with most of his form coming on artificial surfaces these days, and a bounce back is needed. Conditions to suit and on a good mark but he needs to bounce back from two modest efforts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(8) (11/1 +56%)Lightningboltzoom |
11/1(+56%) | (8) Lightningboltzoom 11/1, Outpaced and below form when back down in trip, comfortably held in a handicap at Wolverhampton last time. Effective over 8-11f on artificial surfaces but needs more. 0-7 but best run came last January when 2nd over C&D; now 6lb lower; not discounted. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Newcastle winner Noss Mayo and the consistent Hackney Diamonds are strong candidates in this company. However, BRODIE'S BOY, who was two and a half lengths and four places ahead of the now absent King's Hand when third in a similar event over C&D last month, would be a big player if bouncing back from a hefty defeat last time out.

Noss Mayo is on the upgrade but preference is for HACKNEY DIAMONDS who is taken to maintain her unbeaten course record.

(1) (4/9 +33%)Chancellor |
4/9(+33%) | (1) Chancellor 4/9, Second when beaten a neck in the Hyde Stakes (Listed) at Kempton latest, just failing to reel in the winner. Returned from a short break, effective at 7-8f, highly regarded early in his career and improving, with a wind op appearing to have worked. Sets the standard and should be tough to beat. Two good runs at Kempon following wind/gelding ops; more to come; strong contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (11/2 -57%)Tyrrhenian Sea |
11/2(-57%) | (6) Tyrrhenian Sea 11/2, Ran to form but was out-battled late, up in trip, when second beaten a short-head in the Quebec Stakes (Listed) at Lingfield latest. 16/1(+0%) | (5) Two Tempting 16/1, Ran to form when second, beaten 2l, in a handicap here latest. Effective at 7/8f and a consistent handicapper, but has a bit to find up in class. Admirable performer for whom conditions hold no terrors; this looks a tough task though. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (28/1 -12%)Dear My Friend |
28/1(-12%) | (2) Dear My Friend 28/1, Ran to form when fourth, beaten 2l, in the Bahrain Mile at Bahrain latest. Returning from a long layoff, effective at 1m and best on all-weather. Took this race in 2024 but has largely been out of form since and looks risky. Two-time AW Listed winner; absent 12 months; no surprise to see him return with a bang. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (33/1 +50%)Skylight Brochard |
33/1(+50%) | (3) Skylight Brochard 33/1, Ran to form when second, beaten a short-head, in a conditions race at Cagnes-Sur-Mer latest. Returned from a long absence, effective at 7-8f, a Listed winner in France and arrives in form. Good 2nd in France last time but enjoyed the run of the race; others look more persuasive. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

CHANCELLOR's second-placed finish in the Hyde Stakes at Kempton was a creditable first attempt over a mile and the son of Kingman is strongly fancied to go one better. Dear My Friend will be a big danger to the selection if he has reacclimatised after a short stint in the UAE, while Tyrrhenian Sea's second in the Quebec over 1m2f here was a sounding of his wellbeing and he can also have a big say back at this trip.

Witch Hunter and Dear My Friend have the talent to feature but the progressive CHANCELLOR looks the one to beat.

(4) (15/8 +53%)Blueaway |
15/8(+53%) | (4) Blueaway 15/8, Ran about to the balance of her form when beaten 8l over a longer trip in a maiden here last time. Her trainer is in form, but as a light-framed type she may have reached her level. Opening mark does appear lenient and top jockey booked. Lowly RPRs in three runs but she has hinted at ability & can step forward now handicapping. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (10/3 +52%)Life After Love |
10/3(+52%) | (1) Life After Love 10/3, That run probably reflected her ability when beaten 4 1/4l in a handicap at Wolverhampton last time. Likely effective at 6f, but her form has been a little unreliable. Poor form thus far but has a good pedigree and now drops into a 0-55; may do better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (5/1 -150%)He Bangs The Drums |
5/1(-150%) | (3) He Bangs The Drums 5/1, Finished second when beaten 5 1/2l in a handicap at Wolverhampton latest. Has shown similar form over 5/6f and likes to lead, so may improve if settling better. Second, albeit a remote one, at Wolverhampton 11 days ago (6f); more required back at 5f. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (16/1 -167%)Calabrian Soldato |
16/1(-167%) | (5) Calabrian Soldato 16/1, Did not stay 6f when finishing down the field in a handicap at Wolverhampton most recently. Blinkers are applied for the first time and he needs a return to 5f. 2nd on handicap debut in December but that form is modest; well held latest; new headgear. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(7) (40/1 +0%)Rai Rogers |
40/1(+0%) | (7) Rai Rogers 40/1, Made too much use of from a wide draw and raced freely when finishing down the field here last time. A tongue-tie is worn for the first time, but she has yet to show any signs of ability. No better for handicapping when 9th of 10 over 6f here last month; now tongue tied. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

This won't take much winning and the vote goes to BLUEAWAY. The daughter of Blue Point fetched 75,000 euros as a two-year-old but failed to make an impact in novice/maiden events. However, she's related to a host of useful types so from an opening mark of 49, it would come as no surprise were she to take a step forward. Calabrian Soldato struggled at Wolverhampton latest but could bounce back in first-time blinkers, whilst He Bangs The Drums completes the shortlist.

Mythical Night is better than she has shown in handicaps but BLUEAWAY is taken to leave previous efforts well behind her tonight.

(9) (40/1 -567%)Neptune Legend |
40/1(-567%) | (9) Neptune Legend 40/1, Scored by a neck off this mark at Wolverhampton in November. Never competitive when missing the break and beaten 9l last time; effective over 5-7f and needs a bounce back down in grade but threat if getting stiff test. Back to his last winning but well beaten over 5f on his last two start; opposable. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

With plenty of early pace on offer this could be run to suit TRUE PROMISE. Fionn McSharry's gelding has been knocking at the door for some time now and he was a little unfortunate at Newcastle a fortnight ago, having been short of room passing the two-furlong marker. A drop in trip shouldn't inconvenience him and this looks a good opportunity. Birkenhead, Street Life and Ay Gee Ell are all capable, but they'll all want to be at the head of affairs.

Popular Dream should get a good pace to run at but the tongue-tie is back on AY GEE ELL (nap) and he can gain his second C&D win.
Ths is the racecard key.
