1st (2) (17/2 -70%)Neigh Botha |
17/2(-70%) | (2) Neigh Botha 17/2, Never jumped or travelled and did not handle the track, well beaten in a handicap chase over 2m1f at Worcester latest. Off a short break and has a bit to find. Didn't fancy it at Worcester latest, but has a fine record on good ground at this venue.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (9/2 +44%)Getaway Jewel |
9/2(+44%) | (6) Getaway Jewel 9/2, Ran to form when beaten 4l off 77 at Uttoxeter last time. Suited by 2m on good ground. This looks a big ask. Yet to win this late in the year, but has lowered a 15lb higher mark over C&D before.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (6/1 +33%)Royal Max |
6/1(+33%) | (5) Royal Max 6/1, Failed to find much when a below-form fourth, beaten 25l in a handicap chase over 2m1f at Stratford latest. Returning from a break and has a bit to find. Fifth in this last year but a fresher horse this time around; 4lb above his winning mark.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (10/1 +9%)Clean Getaway |
10/1(+9%) | (4) Clean Getaway 10/1, Outpaced and produced a poor hurdles return when well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter latest. Suited by 2m on good ground but currently out of form. Almost won this off 3lb lower last year (good); somewhat below par of late. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (50/1 +0%)Mcgrath From Clune |
50/1(+0%) | (7) Mcgrath From Clune 50/1, Outpaced and below form when finishing down the field in a handicap chase over 2m1f at Worcester most recently. Out of form since his move from Ireland. Enduring a poor 2025 despite a still-tumbling mark; revival not easily anticipated.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (8/11 +58%)Jet Patrol |
8/11(+58%) | (3) Jet Patrol 8/11, Won cosily when landing a handicap by 2 1/4l off 90 at Plumpton last time. Effective at 2m on a sound surface and thriving for his new yard. Refusal to settle hasn't prevented two recent hurdles wins (2m); yet to click over fences.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Both Lightning Flash and JET PATROL are able to compete from an unchanged mark having each struck over hurdles on their latest outing. Dropped in trip ahead of his chasing debut the former merits respect, but the latter can come out on top. James Owen's charge won comfortably over today's trip at Plumpton on only his third start for the yard and reverts to fences with solid claims. Getaway Jewel heads the remainder.

The pick of the well-in duo, LIGHTNING FLASH can strike first time over fences. Course specialist Neigh Botha rates next best.

1st (1) (17/2 -42%)Peejaybee |
17/2(-42%) | (1) Peejaybee 17/2, Pulled up in a handicap chase at Perth last time; returning from a break; prone to the occasional poor run. Absence no issue, but current sort of mark and this year's inconsistency both are.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (15/2 +25%)Do No Wrong |
15/2(+25%) | (4) Do No Wrong 15/2, Well treated on chase form; improved when stepped up in trip to score by 1/2l off 108 over 2m6f at Cartmel two runs ago; failed to travel and was pulled up in a handicap chase last time; effective at 3m on decent ground. 2-2 in C&D 0-120 handicap chases; not without precedent if he bounces back to form.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (6/4 +0%)Shantou Lucky |
6/4(+0%) | (5) Shantou Lucky 6/4, Never off the bridle and improved again when landing a handicap by 6 1/2l off 93 over 3m2f at Newton Abbot last time; effective between 2 1/2m and 3m, suited by decent ground; hugely progressive for new yard and still well ahead of the handicapper. 4-4 for James Owen last month alone; player, albeit up in class and up another 20lb.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (12/1 +0%)Tiger Orchid |
12/1(+0%) | (2) Tiger Orchid 12/1, Ran to form back over hurdles when fourth, beaten 7l in a 2m7f handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter last time; effective at 3m on good ground. Would likely interest more around Worcester, but chance off 3lb below last winning mark.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (11/4 +61%)Pike Road |
11/4(+61%) | (6) Pike Road 11/4, Fell in a 2m7f handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter last time; effective between 2 1/2m and 3m and looks well handicapped on hurdle form. Nephew of Royal Auclair, but switches to fences off the back of another hurdling fall.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (3) (11/2 -22%)Finn Lough |
11/2(-22%) | (3) Finn Lough 11/2, Travelled and ran to form in first-time blinkers when beaten 3 1/2l off 115 over 3m1f at Aintree last time; returning from a break and still has a bit to find. Not straightforward, but C&D winner in February; Aintree second since has been boosted.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Shantou Lucky only joined James Owen's team last month, but it didn't take him long to notch up a four-timer. The eight-year-old was hit with a 10lb rise having won in emphatic fashion at Newton Abbot latest and although another bold bid looks assured, FINN LOUGH gets the nod. The son of Milan hit the woodwork in a competitive handicap at Aintree when last seen in May so is expected to go very close from an unchanged mark. Tiger Orchid could also have a say.

If the latest re-raise thwarts Shantou Lucky and Finn Lough has an off day, this could go to DO NO WRONG, 2-2 in C&D 0-120s.

1st (8) (11/4 +50%)Couldbeaweapon |
11/4(+50%) | (8) Couldbeaweapon 11/4, Outpaced but ran to form when 6 1/2l third in a handicap chase over 2m5f at Sedgefield last time. Best at 2 1/2m, in good form but can be frustrating. Another frame finish at Sedgefield latest (2m5f, good) and similar looks achievable here.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (3/1 -20%)Heaven Smart |
3/1(-20%) | (1) Heaven Smart 3/1, Returned to form when dropped in trip and given a positive ride after a wind operation, landing a handicap by 2 1/2l off 88 at Perth last time. This is his second run since the wind op; effective at 2 1/2-3m and still well treated on old form. Cashed in career-low mark at Perth last week (2m4f, good; made all); still on a good mark.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (11/2 -57%)Atreides |
11/2(-57%) | (2) Atreides 11/2, Showed improvement from debut when stepped up in trip, finishing second and beaten 5l in a handicap chase over 2m3f at Fontwell last time. Generally consistent at 2 1/2m, acts on good, soft, and heavy; still a maiden but progressing over fences. Ahead of a next-time winner when second in a Fontwell 0-110 latest; chance on that form.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (8/1 -45%)Mr Mahler |
8/1(-45%) | (6) Mr Mahler 8/1, Improved from debut when beaten 3l off 83 over 2m3f at Catterick last time. Returns from a long layoff; effective at 2-2 1/2m and suited by decent ground; still improving. Previous precedent suggests he'll be better for this run; could still jump fences better.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (13/2 +46%)Greenways |
13/2(+46%) | (7) Greenways 13/2, Keen but improved when suited by a positive ride at the trip, scoring by a head off 81 over 2m at Uttoxeter three starts back. Outpaced and unable to lead on hurdles return when ninth, beaten 51l off 83 last time; likes to dominate. 2m Uttoxeter chase winner in July off only 2lb lower; weakly efforts on last two runs.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (10) (250/1 -100%)Mawlood |
250/1(-100%) | (10) Mawlood 250/1, Outpaced and continued in poor form when well beaten in a handicap chase at Worcester last time; regressive. 0-17 over fences and beaten 103l at Worcester six days ago; out of the weights again.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (20/1 -25%)Boskill Borden |
20/1(-25%) | (5) Boskill Borden 20/1, Failed to find much when finishing down the field in a handicap hurdle over 2m at Stratford most recently; proving frustrating for his new yard. Might take to chasing, but lines up here on the back of two hurdling disappointments.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (500/1 -400%)Jobesgreen Lad |
500/1(-400%) | (3) Jobesgreen Lad 500/1, Pulled up in a handicap chase at Worcester last time and now returns after a short break; regressive. Still going okay until a bad error at Worcester latest, but now 0-14 going this way round.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) (400/1 -300%)Across The Ocean |
400/1(-300%) | (9) Across The Ocean 400/1, Pulled up in a handicap hurdle at Worcester last time and has been out of form for his new yard. Some encouragement for chasing on pedigree, but yet to offer anything for current handler.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (4) (4/1 -14%)Cawthorne Cracker |
4/1(-14%) | (4) Cawthorne Cracker 4/1, Travelled strongly and ran to form when just out-battled late, beaten a neck off 83 over 2m at Uttoxeter last time. Effective at 2m and needs a sound surface. Last month's Uttoxeter near-miss (2m) was a career-best effort; up 2lb but in the mix.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

A wind operation appears to have worked the oracle for HEAVEN SMART. He recorded a cosy success at Perth last week and while Brian Hughes keeps the winning partnership intact, a 7lb penalty might not stop him from going in again. Cawthorne Cracker was beaten a neck at Uttoxeter last time and steps up in trip with a chance, while Atreides, who returned to form at Fontwell last month, should be on the premises too.

The win penalty seems unlikely to prevent the resurgent HEAVEN SMART from doubling up. Atreides is 0-18 but still feared most.

1st (2) (5/2 -11%)Bluegrass |
5/2(-11%) | (2) Bluegrass 5/2, Made mistakes and ran below form when upped in grade, comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Haydock last time. Had been in good form beforehand; potential threat. Did well last season (three wins) but has fitness to prove after 166-day break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (13/8 +46%)Forget The Way |
13/8(+46%) | (5) Forget The Way 13/8, Ran below form when upped in grade, comfortably held in a handicap hurdle over 2m1f at Cartmel last time. Had been in good form beforehand; speed and form selection. Back from layoff with two perfectly respectable runs this summer; remains on workable mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (11/1 -22%)Whiskeywealth |
11/1(-22%) | (1) Whiskeywealth 11/1, Below form when made too much use of and did not stay, finishing down the field in a handicap hurdle over 2m3f at Punchestown last time. Enjoys racing prominently; outside chance. Ex-Irish 9yo; on workable mark for stable debut but soft/heavy ground suits him best. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (7/4 +61%)Nowmelad |
7/4(+61%) | (3) Nowmelad 7/4, Made too much use of when upped in trip, finishing down the field in a handicap hurdle over 2m4f at Uttoxeter most recently; has a squeak. Dual novice winner last season; safely held in both handicaps; stable debut after break. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Although pulled up over fences when last seen in May, switching to hurdles on the back of an absence could benefit YES INDEED. Martin Keighley's charge is 8lb lower in this sphere and looks particularly well handicapped judged on previously exploits, while the booking of Sean Bowen could be noteworthy. Bluegrass drops is class so must enter calculations, with Nowmelad suggested as the pick of the remainder.

This could be a good opportunity for race-fit bottomweight FORGET THE WAY, who posted two perfectly respectable efforts this summer.

1st (1) (10/11 +83%)At Mangan Bridge |
10/11(+83%) | (1) At Mangan Bridge 10/11, Outpaced and failed to build on debut when comfortably held in a maiden hurdle here last time. Returning from a break; effective at 2 1/2m but may want 3m in time. Outpaced again when beaten 17l over C&D latest (good); maybe one for staying handicaps.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (4/1 +71%)Cinnodin |
4/1(+71%) | (2) Cinnodin 4/1, Ran to form when 33l third in a maiden hurdle over 2m6f at Newton Abbot on latest outing. Trainer in form. A consistent stayer on the Flat who can make an impact over hurdles, though stamina for 2m5f is not yet assured. All six Flat wins gained in handicaps, and likelier one for such races over hurdles also.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (17/2 +15%)Queensland Boy |
17/2(+15%) | (3) Queensland Boy 17/2, Ran to form when beaten 3l in a handicap over 2m at Ripon last time. Effective at 2m but may need more time over hurdles. Dual 2m Flat winner this year; half-brother to one C&D hurdles scorer; possibilities.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (3/1 +70%)Tufton |
3/1(+70%) | (4) Tufton 3/1, Outpaced and outclassed on bumper debut when down the field in an Amateurs' bumper over 2m1f at Aintree last time. Wears a tongue-tie for the first time. Returning from a break; effective at 2m but may want further over hurdles. Beaten nearly 20l in Aintree bumper latest, but not for giving up on; tongue tie goes on.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (40/1 +20%)Unexpected Ask |
40/1(+20%) | (5) Unexpected Ask 40/1, Pulled up in a maiden hurdle over 2m5f at Market Rasen on latest start. Off a short break and likely to be one for further down the line. May make a hurdler, but needs to help himself rather more than on July's racecourse debut.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Not a tall order set by those with experience, so it might pay to side with MASKED MAN. An emphatic winner of a point-to-point at Stowlin in May, the son of Masked Marvel is related to three separate winners and wouldn't have to be anything out of the ordinary to make a successful debut. Queensland Boy stayed well on the Flat and could have something to offer in this sphere, while wind surgery could spark an improved performance from At Mangan Bridge.

This looks good for Irish point winner MASKED MAN on hurdling/rules debut. Better jumping may net Queensland Boy the silver medal.

1st (2) (13/8 +19%)An Bradan Feasa |
13/8(+19%) | (2) An Bradan Feasa 13/8, Landed a handicap by 1/2l off 108 over 2m at Worcester last time. Effective at 2m and acts on soft, yielding and good; well treated on old juvenile form and in good form in both codes. Scored over 2m at Worcester last month and remains well handicapped on 2024 form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (5/1 +55%)Play Pretend |
5/1(+55%) | (7) Play Pretend 5/1, Outpaced but returned to form, helped by leaders racing early, when scoring by 1/2l off 99 over 2m at Worcester on his penultimate start. A bit below form but saw out the longer trip when third, beaten 9l off 101 last time; may get slightly further than 2m. Fair third when upped to 2m2f last time but probably needs to find extra here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (13/2 -86%)Heather Honey |
13/2(-86%) | (6) Heather Honey 13/2, Travelled easily and improved again when landing a handicap by 4l off 96 over 2m7f at Bangor-on-Dee last time. Returning from a break; latest form is strong and she is progressive. Very progressive in 2m7f handicaps in the spring; drops back in trip after break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (11/2 +31%)Aslukgoes |
11/2(+31%) | (4) Aslukgoes 11/2, Pulled up in a handicap hurdle at Worcester last time. Effective at 2m and suited by good ground; has more to come over hurdles judged on his Listed bumper win. Maiden winner in July; flopped on handicap debut but may still have potential. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (11/1 +31%)Callin Baton Rouge |
11/1(+31%) | (3) Callin Baton Rouge 11/1, Made too much use of when finishing down the field in a handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter most recently. The handicapper may have caught up. Stylish winner at Uttioxeter in June but not in same form on next three outings. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (11/1 -144%)Belvedere Blast |
11/1(-144%) | (1) Belvedere Blast 11/1, Needed every yard and ran to form at a favoured venue, helped by a hurdle being removed when landing a handicap by 3/4l off 112 over 2m7f at Market Rasen last time. Trainer in form; a strong stayer who likes Market Rasen. Form of Market Rasen win in August looks a bit iffy but he's usually pretty reliable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (13/2 +46%)Little Dipper |
13/2(+46%) | (8) Little Dipper 13/2, Outpaced and never threatened when 15l third in a maiden hurdle here on his most recent run. Returning from a break; effective at 2 1/2m on good ground. Inconsistent but goes well at Southwell. Shaped well when third in C&D maiden in June; returns to a handicap after a break.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

AN BRADAN FEASA dug deep to score under champion jockey Sean Bowen at Worcester last month. A 5lb rise looks fair and, provided his stamina holds out over this longer trip, the Camelot gelding could go in again. Belvedere Blast and Heather Honey, who completed her hat-trick at Bangor latest, can make things difficult for the selection for all that an ease in distance might not be ideal.

Heather Honey was in fine form over 2m7f in the spring but AN BRADAN FEASA (nap) still looks well treated after last month's 2m win.

12/1(+14%) | (8) Stripe Of Honour 12/1, Ran to form at his favoured venue when fourth, beaten 16l in a handicap hurdle over 2m7f at Worcester latest. Usually held up and returns from a short break. Veteran who was placed over C&D in June; enters calculations. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (7/2 +50%)Jager Time |
7/2(+50%) | (3) Jager Time 7/2, Outpaced but ran to form and was unsuited by the way the race developed, well beaten in a handicap hurdle over 2m4f at Bangor-on-Dee latest. Likely to do better over further than 2m in handicaps when ridden more positively. Not beaten far in first two handicaps (2m4f/2m3f); may improve over today's longer trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (4/1 +0%)Scudamore |
4/1(+0%) | (1) Scudamore 4/1, Had too much to do and was unsuited by the way the race developed, beaten 7l in a handicap hurdle over 2m7f at Uttoxeter last time. Effective from 2-3m, generally consistent, well treated on old form and showed ability in spring. Very respectable fifth in better race than this at Uttoxeter last month; good chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (6/1 +33%)Matoury |
6/1(+33%) | (5) Matoury 6/1, Below form when back down in trip, well beaten in a handicap hurdle over 2m3f at Market Rasen latest. Winner at that venue earlier in summer. Stamina concerns here. Gained breakthrough win in June but two lesser efforts have followed; back up in trip here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (25/1 -108%)Zoffalee |
25/1(-108%) | (4) Zoffalee 25/1, Outpaced and below form when comfortably held in a handicap chase at Hexham last time. Has a poor strike rate but has dropped a long way in the weights. Reverts to hurdling on a workable mark but has not won since 2019; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (6/1 -33%)Ballyvaughan Bay |
6/1(-33%) | (2) Ballyvaughan Bay 6/1, Had every chance but finished down the field below form in a handicap hurdle over 2m4f at Bangor-on-Dee most recently. Sole win gained over this C&D. Considered a value selection based on the balance of form. Very well suited by this C&D but has quite a bit to prove after three disappointing runs. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (11/4 +17%)Inspector Lynley |
11/4(+17%) | (7) Inspector Lynley 11/4, No match for the race-fit winner but ran to form when second, beaten 20l in a handicap hurdle over 2m6f at Fontwell latest. Usually held up, effective from 2 3/4-3m and should come on for last run. Just 1-17 over hurdles but returned from a break with a decent effort last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (12/1 -100%)Shibuya Song |
12/1(-100%) | (6) Shibuya Song 12/1, Outpaced and unsuited by the track, well beaten in a handicap hurdle over 3m2f at Newton Abbot latest. Stamina suggests further the better. Can race lazily. Largely disappointing since last summer's surprise win at Worcester. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

SHIBUYA SONG largely struggled after winning at Worcester last September, but she's now 2lb lower than for that success and could make a belated return to form. Veteran Stripe Of Honour has won when fresh previously so he could pose a threat to the selection, despite being 1lb out of the handicap. Matoury and Jager Time have few miles on the clock and are just two others to consider.

This looks easier than the recent Uttoxeter contest in which SCUDAMORE was a very respectable fifth, and he gets the vote.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
