1st (8) (14/1 +22%)Livy's Lad |
14/1(+22%) | (8) Livy's Lad 14/1, Below form up in trip on handicap debut, possibly wanting better ground when well beaten in a handicap hurdle over 3m at Chepstow last time; yet to find ideal conditions and improvement possible now chasing. New yard drops him back in trip for chase debut but this 5yo has a lot to prove right now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (6/4 +33%)Catchim |
6/4(+33%) | (1) Catchim 6/4, Ran to form, just outstayed when beaten 1 1/2l off 100 over 2m4f at Huntingdon last time; effective up to 2m4f, acts on G; drop in trip may suit. Went from the front at Huntingdon on Tuesday and it took the favourite to beat him. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (14/1 -17%)Zoeman |
14/1(-17%) | (4) Zoeman 14/1, Disappointing on handicap debut when comfortably held over 2m3f at Exeter last time; effective at 2m and acts on good ground; has a bit to prove now chasing after an absence. He goes chasing with low mileage on the clock, albeit after a long absence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (9/1 +50%)Whispering Royal |
9/1(+50%) | (7) Whispering Royal 9/1, Pulled up in a handicap chase over 2m1f at Worcester last time; effective at 2m and acts on soft and good ground; needs to bounce back. AW/hurdle winner; 12l fourth then pulled up in his two runs over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (5/1 +0%)Just Gino |
5/1(+0%) | (5) Just Gino 5/1, Below form, not seeing it out when 5l third in a handicap chase over 2m3f at Catterick on latest start; effective around 2m4f and acts on soft and good to soft; may need the run after a break since January. Running well in Jan when last seen and holds each-way claims if resuming where he left off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (11/4 +17%)Pottersjetamay |
11/4(+17%) | (6) Pottersjetamay 11/4, Ran to form when second beaten 4 1/2l in a handicap chase at Fakenham latest; effective at 2m, acts on GS, G; respected off same mark. Runner-up in his last two chases; looks handicapped about right but has claims. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

POTTERSJETAMAY has found one too good in each of his last three outings, most recently in a warmer event at Fakenham, but today might be his day. This represents only his fourth start over fences and he could take a step forward to strike. Catchim's sole career success came over the smaller obstacles at this track and he ran well for second at Huntingdon on Tuesday. Just Gino looks best of the rest.

This weak field may offer POTTERSJETAMAY the right opportunity to break his duck. Catchim can also run well.

1st (6) (5/1 +55%)Ali Star Bert |
5/1(+55%) | (6) Ali Star Bert 5/1, Outpaced and never threatened when below form, finishing fourth beaten 27l in a handicap chase at Uttoxeter last time. A thorough stayer who likes a sound surface and shows his best form at Southwell. Fine record here and well down the weights but his record since March win is a concern. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (2/1 -45%)Golan Loop |
2/1(-45%) | (1) Golan Loop 2/1, Well backed, suited by the ground, improved after wind op when winning a novice hurdle at Ffos Las over 2m6f by 12l last time; effective at 2m6f, acts on G; this former point winner should do well chasing. Won an Irish point and on fifth attempt over hurdles; interesting handicap/chase debutant. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (6/4 +83%)Paper Mill |
6/4(+83%) | (3) Paper Mill 6/4, Ran to form when fourth beaten 9l in a hunter chase over 3m2f at Cheltenham latest; trainer in form; effective up to 3m2f, acts on G; others likelier. 7-14 in points; fourth in a hunter chase in May suggests this opening mark is realistic. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (11/1 -69%)Moonlit Potter |
11/1(-69%) | (4) Moonlit Potter 11/1, Well backed but comfortably held in a handicap chase at Market Rasen last time. Effective up to 2m7f and acts on good to soft ground, but yet to shine over fences. Pipped on chasing debut last November but disappointing since; left Henry Daly for £5,000. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (15/2 -114%)Kayce Dutton |
15/2(-114%) | (2) Kayce Dutton 15/2, Well backed in first-time cheekpieces when landing a handicap by 1/2l off a mark of 105 over 2m5f at Market Rasen last time. Effective at 2m5f, acts on good ground, and should have more to offer. Four seconds last season but he scored in first-time cheekpieces (2m6f, good) in May. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (20/1 -122%)Police Academy |
20/1(-122%) | (5) Police Academy 20/1, Held in third when refused late in a handicap chase over 2m5f at Fakenham latest; effective 3m, acts on G; respected on earlier win. Jumping last time is a concern (ended refusing) but major player judged on peak efforts. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Kayce Dutton showed improvement in first-time cheekpieces to score at Market Rasen and is expected to mount a bold bid on his return. Ali Star Bert competes off a workable rating and is respected, but GOLAN LOOP might be the one. Warren Greatrex's five-year-old bolted up over the smaller obstacles at Ffos Las in May and, now tackling fences for the first time, a mark of 112 may prove to be lenient.

Cases can be made for all of them but PAPER MILL might be the one to emerge on top. Golan Loop is feared most.

1st (4) (12/1 -33%)Maghlaak |
12/1(-33%) | (4) Maghlaak 12/1, Ran to form and was possibly outstayed when beaten 3l off 115 over 2m5f at Kelso last time; effective around 2m4f and acts on good; has a bit to find switching to fences. Two hurdle wins but he needs to find something extra to make a big impact on chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (5/2 +50%)As The Fella Says |
5/2(+50%) | (5) As The Fella Says 5/2, Fell early in a handicap hurdle over 2m5f at Plumpton last time; trainer in form; effective from 2m1f to 2m5f and acts on soft and good to soft; a former point winner who could improve now chasing. Expensive to follow over hurdles but things could click on this switch to chasing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (14/1 -17%)Whatsyourproblem |
14/1(-17%) | (6) Whatsyourproblem 14/1, Needed run when well beaten in a handicap chase over 2m at Sedgefield latest; effective 2m-2m4f, acts on any; should do better than on chasing debut. Record of 1-8 over hurdles and he struggled on chase debut in September. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (2/1 +50%)Daytime Dreaming |
2/1(+50%) | (2) Daytime Dreaming 2/1, Ran to form, scored easily when winning a maiden hurdle here over 2m by 8l last time; effective at 2m, acts on GS; should have more to offer over fences. Won maiden hurdle here last December and he needs a close look on handicap/chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (20/1 -100%)Quick Sharpener |
20/1(-100%) | (3) Quick Sharpener 20/1, Fell before the race developed in a handicap chase at Bangor-on-Dee last time; effective around 2m4f and acts on good; remains inconsistent. Has poor completion record over fences and others are more convincing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (5/2 -67%)Admiral Stewart |
5/2(-67%) | (1) Admiral Stewart 5/2, Won a novice chase at Sandown over 1m7f by 1l last time when unopposed; effective at 2m and acts on soft; a hurdles winner who may have more to offer over fences. Point/hurdle winner who looks on workable mark on handicap debut; interesting contender. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

ADMIRAL STEWART produced some fair form over hurdles, only finding subsequent Grade 2 winner Jet To Vegas too good in January, and he could prove even better over fences. The six-year-old was gifted a walkover at Sandown last weekend and an opening rating of 122 might underestimate his ability. Daytime Dreaming was last seen scoring over the smaller obstacles at this venue last December and is of interest on his handicap/chase debut. As The Fella Says is another to note.

Point/hurdle winner ADMIRAL STEWART is a half-brother to a useful chaser and he gets the vote on his handicap debut.

66/1(-164%) | (8) Presentandcorrect 66/1, 15,000 euros Soldier Of Fortune gelding; half-brother to Coole Hall, who was very useful from 24f to 25f. Has quite a lot of stamina in pedigree and he could be one for later on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (22/1 +21%)Good Boy Griff |
22/1(+21%) | (3) Good Boy Griff 22/1, Too keen and modest on debut when comfortably held in an amateurs' bumper at Uttoxeter last time; should be effective at 2m–2m4f and needs to settle better. Pulled up in his final Irish point and was beaten 31l in a Uttoxeter bumper last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (6) (300/1 -355%)La Vish |
300/1(-355%) | (6) La Vish 300/1, Desinvolte gelding; faces a tough task on debut. Yard 0-8 in bumpers in recent seasons and he's probably best watched on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (4) (7/1 +68%)Granite Sands |
7/1(+68%) | (4) Granite Sands 7/1, Not clear run but a promising debut when 10l fourth in a 4yo bumper over 2m1f at Doncaster first time out; effective at 2m, acts on good ground, and should improve. Showed promise at Doncaster in March and could get involved if he can build on that. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

100/1(-150%) | (11) Potters Angeltiers 100/1, Frontiersman filly; faces a tough task on debut. Out of a sister to a bumper winner but this looks a tough starting point. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (1) (8/1 +27%)Colin's Legacy |
8/1(+27%) | (1) Colin's Legacy 8/1, Telescope gelding; half-brother to Tequila Blaze, who was very useful over 24f; should go well on debut for a yard that does well in bumpers. Half-brother to hurdle winners; stablemate of Gidge and market should guide. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

The horse who beat VANGO CAN GO in an Irish point-to-point earlier in the year ended up with Nicky Henderson and ran a race full of promise on his Rules bow in a novice hurdle at Ascot. That form could be quite strong and this four-year-old should be ready to roll given his in-form connections. Gidge finished second to a nice type at Uttoxeter and is respected getting weight from the boys, while My Mate Aj is a newcomer to consider.

Top of the list is GIDGE, who has a striking pedigree and was well backed when a promising second on her Uttoxeter debut in March.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (8) (150/1 -200%)Son Of Tyran |
150/1(-200%) | (8) Son Of Tyran 150/1, Again below bumper form when down the field in a maiden hurdle over 2m2f at Fontwell. Likely to want further than 2m and looks a future handicap type. Looking one of his yard's lesser lights and handicaps will present better opportunities. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

WONDERING WHY started out in a class 2 Newbury bumper for previous connections, suggesting he was well thought of at home, and he stepped forward from that encouraging fifth to land the spoils at Huntingdon. An exciting recruit to hurdling, the four-year-old has since joined Ben Pauling's upwardly-mobile stable and he's expected to have been well schooled ahead of this assignment. Northanger Abbey makes his Rules debut and the horse who beat him in a point-to-point last November could hardly have been more impressive when introduced by Dan Skelton at Carlisle on Monday. He's noted along with Adonedeal.

Marginal preference is for WONDERING WHY, who has changed yards after showing significant promise in two bumpers.

Good mark but well held in Flat/hurdle handicaps since returning from a long absence. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

ZENATO followed up his Stratford success with an easy victory at Sedgefield last week. Given that was a conditional jockeys' event, the four-year-old does not have to carry a penalty here and he merits the utmost respect as he is 7lb well-in. Motazzen has been knocking hard on the door of late and could prove to be the main threat, although Golden De Coeur and Bear Market should not be discounted.

Henrietta Knight's MOTAZZEN (nap) continues to run well and can return to winning ways.

40/1(-100%) | (6) Rajjamataz 40/1, Pulled up in a handicap chase at Uttoxeter last time; effective over 2m4f on good to soft ground; has been struggling lately but cheekpieces go back on. His chase win was off this mark but he needs a major revival back over hurdles. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

JACK HOOLA only found one too good when trying to follow up his Huntingdon success in October at the same venue. The in-form five-year-old is 6lb well-in here and could return to winning ways. Ballyhiho has a similar profile to the selection and may give him plenty to think about, while Lady Henrietta is the clear pick of the remainder.

This is a tight call between the progressive 5yos Ballyhiho and JACK HOOLA, but the vote goes to the latter.
Ths is the racecard key.
