A taking winner on his nursery debut at Wolverhampton earlier in the month, SAXON RAIDER is likely to have plenty more improvement forthcoming and he can follow up off 8lb higher. Reddeef holds strong claims on the back of a career-best effort when second at Kempton, while Worthington Lake must be of interest off what looks a workable mark on her handicap bow.

SAXON RAIDER had plenty in hand at Wolverhampton a fortnight ago and can make light of an 8 lb rise. On Key shaped well on 2 of his 3 qualifying runs and might be the one to give Charlie Johnston's charge most to think about ahead of Reddeef.

Julie Camacho's ON KEY appeals as an improver now going into nurseries so this close relative to the high-class Shaquille gets the vote

Despite running green, FLIGHTOFTHEPHOENIX very nearly got her head in front on her Kempton introduction and she looks capable of gaining compensation with improvement likely. Zanzoun didn't quite build on her excellent debut second at Newmarket when third as the even-money favourite at Yarmouth, but she is still a leading contender, as is newcomer Courtly Queen, who is a half-sister to French 1000 Guineas winner Castle Lady.

An interesting maiden. ZANZOUN gets the vote with the return to 7f in her favour. Flightofthephoenix displayed promise when second on her debut and should go well, while there are also a few likely types among the newcomers, headed by Godolphin's Courtly Queen and the selection's stablemate Naga.

The Gosdens' ZANZOUN shaped really well when a Newmarket second before going too freely when third over 1m at Yarmouth so gets the vote

Not beaten too far on each of his last four starts, including twice over C&D, MIDNIGHTATTHEOASIS deserves a change in luck and he may get that in what looks like an open contest. Phil McEntee's charge is narrowly preferred to Kodebreaker, who has scored twice during a busy 2024 and is dropping back down the weights. Completing the shortlist are Absolute Dream, Magic Fluke and Stoneacre Girl.

In a contest where few arrive with compelling claims ABSOLUTE DREAM gets the nod having dipped to only 1 lb above the mark he defied over C&D in the spring. Kodebreaker is a pretty solid operator at this level and is second choice. The William Haggas-trained Fariha could also have a say if blinkers help her to recapture the form she showed when placed over C&D in August.

This could rest between C&D scorers KODEBREAKER and Absolute Dream with preference for Michael Herrington's handily-weighted 5yo

LAURA'S BREEZE returns to her optimum distance on the back of finishing runner-up over 6f at Newcastle. Successful over C&D in March, the daughter of Ribchester can resume winning ways off this 8lb lower mark. Available Angel finished a solid third at Wolverhampton a fortnight ago and rates a threat on that evidence, while the veteran Reputation can also get involved with a clear passage having run into trouble on his last couple of starts.

REPUTATION arrives on the back of a few good efforts on Wolverhampton's tapeta and might prove the answer to the second division of this handicap. The return to 7f will suit Laura's Breeze and she's second choice ahead of Tenyatta, who is back on a winning mark if a break has had a reviving effect.

It could be worth siding with TENYATTA to capitalise on a winning mark after a break and continue the fine form of the James Owen team

La Pulga can go well and will likely set a decent pace, but he looks vulnerable to a strong finisher and WONDER LEGEND fits the bill. The four-year-old was doing his best work in the closing stages when third over 1m4f here last month and this extra test of stamina should play to his strengths. Cardano won at Chelmsford during the summer and can feature once again, while Red Flyer drops down in distance with a shout and is preferred to Damascus Steel in this grade.

WONDER LEGEND is still relatively unexposed and shaped better than the result when third here last time, staying on from an unpromising position. Up in trip, he can find enough improvement to defy this mark and get the better of the likes of La Pulga and Damascus Steel.

The vote goes to WONDER LEGEND who didn't enjoy the rub of the green when a very good third here last time out and now steps up in trip

A winner at Ripon in August, JE NE SAIS QUOI was having her first start since when finding the competition too hot in a competitive sprint at Doncaster last month. This looks more her level and the daughter of Dandy Man is taken to put in a bold bid on her all-weather debut. Dashing Harry made a solid start for his new trainer when fourth over C&D and is one to consider, while The Coffee Pod enters calculations having won off this mark at York in July.

This looks wide open but JE NE SAIS QUOI ran well from out of the weights at Doncaster last time and the make up of this track should suit her style, so she gets the nod ahead of The Coffee Pod, who was runner-up at Nottingham last time. Dashing Harry is one of several others for whom a case can be made.

Richard Hannon's THE COFFEE POD (nap) signalled he is ready to strike again when runner-up at Nottingham so looks the way to go.

Fortunate Star has been kept busy lately and he looks more than capable of maintaining his good level of form, but the vote goes to LIV LUCKY. Dropped to the minimum trip over C&D in September, Roy Bowring's mare won going away and should she arrive in similar heart, a 4lb rise might prove lenient. Kyber Crystal is another to consider.

FORTUNATE STAR has been in good order at this track lately and looks the most solid proposition. Last-time-out C&D winner Liv Lucky remains with handicapping scope and should feature, while Marcus is likely to give his running again.

The consistent Fortunate Star looks sure to be thereabouts but KYBER CRYSTAL finished ahead of him at Catterick last month.

Classic Encounter sets the standard with an official rating of 78 and he will appreciate a drop in class, although Groovy Baby does not have much to find, especially in receipt of 5lb, and ought to be a real threat. However, preference is for RUNNING SPIRIT. No match for a 98-rated rival at Kempton in August, she is open to more improvement than the aforementioned pair and this does not look as deep as her two previous assignments. Twisting Physics is another to consider.

RUNNING SPIRIT stepped up on her debut when runner-up at Kempton last time and a repeat performance may be enough to go one better for all that Classic Encounter is closely matched on form. Groovy Baby is next on the list.

Classic Encounter has solid claims but RUNNING SPIRIT bumped into a good one last time and she can improve again.

There has been no stopping HK FOURTEEN of late and he completed his hat-trick at Newcastle last time out. A further 6lb rise might underestimate the progressive four-year-old and he is fancied to continue his upward trajectory. First Company was on target at Kempton earlier this month and is of interest in the hands of 7lb claimer Mason Paetel. Others to note include Arlecchino's Gift and War Memorial.

HK FOURTEEN hasn't looked back since dropped to sprint distances and a 6 lb rise for his cosy Newcastle success is unlikely to be enough to stop him in his tracks. Arlecchino's Gift has been in good order of late and looks set for another leading role, while War Memorial shouldn't be far away if taking to this surface and recent Kempton winner First Company is also accorded respect.

First Company makes some appeal but HK FOURTEEN is unbeaten since switched to sprinting and can bring up the four-timer.
Ths is the racecard key.
