Useful 3yo but he's 0-9 in Group/Listed races and could be vulnerable again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (16/1 +52%)Palazzo Blu |
16/1(+52%) | (3) Palazzo Blu 16/1, Ran to form when winning a handicap here over 12f by 1 1/2l last time; trainer in form; effective 10-12f, wants a sound surface; more needed up in grade. Unbeaten in three AW runs but this is tough and he has plenty to find on the figures. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

DUBAI HONOUR burned the fingers of favourite-backers when this race was run at Newcastle last year, but it teed him up nicely for another trip across the globe and he can stamp his class on this field before presumably heading overseas again. Shader was backed as if defeat was out of the question when upped to Listed company at Kempton and so it proved as he stormed home by nine lengths. He looks a nice prospect, especially for this time of year. Royal Playwright has a squeak too.

This is a tight call between Dubai Honour and SHADER but the vote goes to the Gosdens' highly progressive 4yo.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

ROGUE LIGHTNING began 2025 by picking up a valuable prize in Qatar and then went close in a Keeneland Grade 2 before struggling at Churchill Downs. He didn't run badly in the July Cup and has been freshened up since so is given another chance. He does need to prove himself on the surface and if it is his undoing, course winner Royal Zabeel could be the one to take advantage. Tapeta is no problem for Marshman either, while Zoum Zoum is one from one on the all-weather but that came on the Kempton Polytrack over two years ago.

Given his smart AW form and a fine record fresh this looks a good opportunity for MARSHMAN (nap) to make a winning return to action.

Effective at 6f to 7f and acts on all-weather; consistent and can go well again. Runner-up on turf last twice but she flashed her tail last time and is now 0-8. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

RAGING RAJ overcame a terrible passage to land the odds at Kempton last week and was value for much more than the narrow winning margin. With that in mind, he can carry his penalty to a follow-up triumph, although Station Bar was only just denied on the same card and is able to compete from the same rating so has to be feared. Stay Sharp tries an artificial surface again on the back of a breakthrough Yarmouth victory, and Gunalt Wavelength is just one more to consider in a competitive nursery.

Top of the list is RAGING RAJ who has really clicked since switched to nurseries and did well to overcome trouble at Kempton last week.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

FRANTIC looked greatly in need of the run but still very nearly managed to make a successful start to her career at Leicester, getting within a short head of a filly with previous experience. The daughter of Frankel should know much more about what is required of her and will relish the extra furlong. Too Hot To Tango should be winning races before too long, but is more exposed than the selection. Heart Beats True took a step forward to finish second at Newcastle, while Treasured Moments is an interesting newcomer.

This can to the well-bred FRANTIC who went close on her Leicester debut and is open to progress on this step up in trip.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Moon Beginnings made a winning debut by beating a horse now rated 75, getting 2lb, at Chester. Although that was an impressive way to begin his career and there should be more to come, he is up against it now attempting to concede 5lb to the 87-rated CHAMPAGNE POWDER. Oliver Cole's gelding earned his initial mark with some good French efforts and while only mid-division in a Newbury handicap last time, there was enough merit in the performance to suggest he should be up to winning this. Digub completes the shortlist.

Champagne Powder sets a useful standard back in calmer waters but slight preference is for Chester debut winner MOON BEGINNINGS.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (250/1 -400%)Lowestoft |
250/1(-400%) | (2) Lowestoft 250/1, Eqtidaar gelding and half-brother to Fast Flo, who was fair at 6f as a 2yo; dam was moderate over 5f; difficult to fancy on debut. Fourth foal of a minor 5f AW winner; an unlikely winner on debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

MY FERMOY was third over an extended 1m1f at Wolverhampton earlier in the month and he could be hard to beat here, as a drop in trip looks likely to suit. Nicator showed ability when filling sixth place on his debut at Doncaster in June and is likely to be the main threat, ahead of The Corporate Guy and No Further Action.

My Fermoy sets the standard but NICATOR shaped well on his debut in June and may progress past him.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

VINCE LOMBARDI arrives here on the back of two wins in recent weeks and a 3lb rise for the latest of those victories may not be enough to stop him from making it a hat-trick. Raft Up has been knocking on the door of late and should be in the mix once again, while similar comments apply to Wichahpi and Mumayaz.

A competitive sprint. Massimo Blue will be happier back over 6f but WICHAHPI may have his measure this time.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

Having completed a double when making a triumphant handicap bow at Wolverhampton, SOLARIZE is one to keep the right side of. A 4lb higher mark looks more than workable for Charlie Johnston's colt and there should be better to come. Dramatic Star found himself with too much to do on his latest fourth at Kempton and cannot be ruled out, while last-start course scorer Tryfan warrants respect in his follow-up bid.

Dramatic Star and TRYFAN are dropping in trip but could still have more to offer. The selection was impressive here when last seen.

Although racing under a 5lb penalty, STURLASSON is only 2lb higher than for last week's C&D triumph and another bold bid is on the cards. That was the four-year-old's third victory in his last six outings and he ticks plenty of the right boxes given his upward trajectory. Alligator Alley races off the same mark as his latest second at Newcastle and is feared most, ahead of Blinky.

The vote goes to STURLASSON who has form figures of 14321 on AW and is only 2lb higher under a penalty than for his win here last week.
Ths is the racecard key.
