1st (5) (1/2 +45%)Miss Altea Blue |
1/2(+45%) | (5) Miss Altea Blue 1/2, Yard won this last year. Bit below form after a wind operation, caught by a race-fit stablemate when second beaten 2l in a novice hurdle over 1m7f at Wincanton last time. Effective at 2m, acts on any ground, and should come on for the run. Respectable second at Wincanton on reappearance; leading player on the figures. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (25/1 -14%)Knock Off Soxs |
25/1(-14%) | (4) Knock Off Soxs 25/1, Made a promising debut when a short-head winner in a maiden over 2m4f at Trebudannon. Trainer in form, and a wind operation since adds potential as he switches to hurdles. Justified favouritism in British point but the form looks nothing special. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (5/1 -100%)Pure Logic |
5/1(-100%) | (7) Pure Logic 5/1, Improved on bumper form when second, beaten 1 1/4l, in a maiden hurdle over 2m1f at Ballinrobe last time. Effective at 2m1f and acts on good ground; likely to progress. Irish challenger who brings consistent form; second attempt over hurdles; solid. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (3/1 +25%)Sun Art |
3/1(+25%) | (1) Sun Art 3/1, Below form when third, beaten 19l, in a novice hurdle at Hereford last time and may have needed the run. Effective at 2m and acts on good ground; could bounce back. Modest third on reappearance but may rebound with the outing under his belt. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (125/1 -89%)Lydeard Girl |
125/1(-89%) | (6) Lydeard Girl 125/1, Ran below her debut level when well beaten in a bumper at Chepstow last time. Likely to need further than 2m over hurdles; trainer in form but faces a tough task. Poor claims on bumper form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (50/1 -178%)Charlies Jetaway |
50/1(-178%) | (2) Charlies Jetaway 50/1, Showed some promise on debut when third, beaten 29l, in an auction over 3m at Necarne before finishing runner-up at Ffynnon Druidion. Likely to want further than 2m under rules and has plenty to find this time. Beaten favourite in two points but is evidently thought capable of better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (3) (150/1 -50%)Kings Order |
150/1(-50%) | (3) Kings Order 150/1, Produced a moderate hurdles debut when down the field in a maiden hurdle at Chepstow last time. Effective at 3m in points and acts on good ground; one for further down the line. Plenty to find on rules form. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Shark Hanlon launches a strong raid on Taunton today and his Pure Logic is a genuine contender after a string of solid efforts in defeat. The latest of those came in April, though, whereas MISS ALTEA BLUE has recent match practice on her side after chasing home accomplished stable companion Fasol on Badger Beer day at Wincanton. Sun Art suffered a costly defeat at Hereford, but should be better for that outing.

On these terms MISS ALTEA BLUE has a good chance of doubling her tally. Consistent Pure Logic is a solid second choice.

11/4(-10%) | (3) Avada Kedavra 11/4, Returned to form up in trip when beaten 3l off 93 over 3m1f at Kempton last time; effective 2m4f-3m; unexposed as a stayer, fair mark if building on recent revival. 0-8 under rules but posted a solid effort at Kempton most recently. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (33/1 -136%)Summerleaze |
33/1(-136%) | (2) Summerleaze 33/1, Stopped quickly and was pulled up in a handicap hurdle over 2m3f at Exeter last time; effective from 2m4f to 3m, acts on soft and good ground; out of form, with headgear removed. Inconsistent since spring hat-trick; second start for new yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

4/1(+20%) | (6) Tom Taggle 4/1, Was held when falling in a handicap hurdle over 2m3f at Chepstow last time; effective from 2m4f to 3m, acts on soft and good ground; should come on for that reappearance. Sole attempt at about 3m resulted in Chepstow success in April. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (10/1 -100%)Something Simple |
10/1(-100%) | (5) Something Simple 10/1, Ran to form when well beaten in a maiden hurdle over 2m4f at Clonmel last time; effective from 2m1f to 2m4f, acts on soft and good ground; may do better now handicapping. Irish 5yo who may improve over this new trip on handicap debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

TOM TAGGLE was already out of contention when coming to grief on his Chepstow reappearance, but that will have blown away any cobwebs. He will appreciate the step up from an extended 2m3f, having struck over just shy of this trip at the Welsh venue back in the spring, and he has scope for further improvement. Getuptheyard showed a bit more when switched back to timber at Lingfield, although recent Kempton third Avada Kedavra might be the primary threat. Something Simple is worth a look on his handicap debut.

Being a solid contender on last-time-out form, AVADA KEDAVRA is taken to open his rules account. Something Simple is second pick.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (4/1 +71%)Bertie Wooster |
4/1(+71%) | (8) Bertie Wooster 4/1, Outpaced and disappointing on hurdles return when well beaten in a 2m5f handicap hurdle at Kempton last time. Trainer in form; wears a tongue-tie for the first time. Effective at 2m4f and acts on any ground but unreliable. Chance largely depends on how well he responds to addition of tongue-tie. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (12/1 -336%)Gris Majeur |
12/1(-336%) | (4) Gris Majeur 12/1, Won by 9l off 107 over 2m4f at Ludlow two runs ago and ran to form when second last time. Effective from 2m to 3m2f and handles heavy and good to firm ground. Has more to offer. Scored comfortably on reappearance and ran well last time; in-form contender; solid. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (15/8 +25%)Maximum Offers |
15/8(+25%) | (5) Maximum Offers 15/8, Third, beaten 13l, in a 2m4f novice hurdle at Uttoxeter when below form and may have needed the run. Effective from 2m to 2m4f and acts on good to soft and good. Respected on chase debut. Looks open to progress now handicapping and switched to chasing. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (3) (11/4 +50%)Holeshot |
11/4(+50%) | (3) Holeshot 11/4, Poorly placed to challenge and not knocked about on chase debut when comfortably held in a 2m4f Bangor-on-Dee handicap chase. Effective from 2m to 2m4f and acts on good to soft and good. Should progress. Record of 1-1 at Taunton (hurdles win) but he has stamina to prove back up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (1) (25/1 -150%)Portnacoo |
25/1(-150%) | (1) Portnacoo 25/1, Made mistakes when pulled up in a 2m4f handicap hurdle at Clonmel last time. Effective from 2m1f to 2m5f and handles soft and good ground. Returns to chasing for the first time since spring 2024. Irish 7yo who isn't solid on his hurdles form this term; second attempt over fences. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Gris Majeur found only one too good when attempting to supplement a Ludlow victory at Hereford recently and won't be far away. Wicked Thoughts should make up into a better chaser than hurdler, although he didn't do too badly over the smaller obstacles. The same can be said for MAXIMUM OFFERS, who won at Huntingdon before placing twice under penalties. He cost 105,000 pounds shortly after going close in a point-to-point towards the end of 2023 and connections have presumably been dying to get him over fences.

The Paul Nicholls-trained WICKED THOUGHTS brings potential to this sphere and he is first choice ahead of Maximum Offers.

Effective from 2m to 2m4f, acts on good ground, and is generally consistent aside from that run. Attractively treated off same mark as for C&D success last December; possibilities. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (7/1 -40%)Mary |
7/1(-40%) | (5) Mary 7/1, Did it cosily and returned to form when benefiting from an easy lead to land a handicap by 6 1/2l off 102 at Warwick last time. Effective from 2m to 2m3f, suited by good ground, quirky but capable and now up 8lb. Made all at Warwick last time and the runner-up has advertised the form since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (15/2 -36%)Half A Chance |
15/2(-36%) | (3) Half A Chance 15/2, Improved slightly when beaten 1 1/2l off 116 over 2m at Wetherby last time. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (25/1 -14%)Moutarde |
25/1(-14%) | (4) Moutarde 25/1, Needed the run when finishing down the field in a 2m handicap hurdle at Chepstow most recently. Effective at 2m, acts on good to soft and good ground, was highly tried as a juvenile, and remains high in the weights. 1-1 at Taunton and ran well at Newton Abbot in most recent Class 4 attempt. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

THERAPIST goes from strength to strength over hurdles. The five-year-old returned the easy winner at Stratford back in July and there looks plenty more to come from Nicky Henderson's mare on that evidence. Seeyouinmydreams is finding it more difficult to get her head back in front, but will likely be thereabouts once again back over this longer trip. Irish challenger Half A Chance also warrants plenty of respect in this grade.

With further progress possible, ELLERTON (nap) is taken to follow up his spring success. Half A Chance is second pick.

Disappointing handicap debut but could be given another chance with a tongue-tie added. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (8/1 -14%)Man Of The Sea |
8/1(-14%) | (3) Man Of The Sea 8/1, Took a step back in the right direction when 11l third in a handicap hurdle over 2m6f at Hereford last time; effective from 2m to 2m4f, suited by a sound surface; still on a competitive mark. 3rd (9) (17/2 +66%)Man Oh Man |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

11/1(-38%) | (11) Prairie Queen 11/1, Ran to recent level despite some mistakes when beaten 3 1/4l off 74 over 2m5f at Huntingdon last time; effective 2m4f, suited by a sound surface; bit better of late. Now 0-14 but has run pretty well the last twice in 2m/2m4f handicaps. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (17/2 +47%)Jukebox Annie |
17/2(+47%) | (8) Jukebox Annie 17/2, Below form and may have needed the run when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle over 2m4f at Wincanton last time; effective at 2m, acts on good and good to soft; struggling in handicaps. Won a four-runner novice (2m, good/firm) a year ago but handicaps are proving challenging. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (15) (80/1 -220%)Gigilou |
80/1(-220%) | (15) Gigilou 80/1, Pulled up in a maiden hurdle over 2m at Chepstow last time; yet to find suitable conditions over hurdles; could do better now handicapping. Has looked limited so far and he's 14lb out of the weights for this handicap debut. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (1) (5/1 +9%)Bashful Boy |
5/1(+9%) | (1) Bashful Boy 5/1, Well beaten from out of the weights when down the field in the Cesarewitch over 2m2f at Newmarket last time; effective up to 2m5f over hurdles, acts on any ground; first hurdles run in 12 months. Retains plenty of ability and off this low a mark he commands attention. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (14) (33/1 0%)She's A Woman |
33/1(0%) | (14) She's A Woman 33/1, Well below form when tried in a hood and comfortably held in a handicap hurdle over 2m at Leicester last time; yet to find suitable conditions over hurdles; difficult to fancy. Has a modest profile, one she failed to raise on recent handicap debut (tried a hood). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (13) (50/1 +24%)Poet's Reflection |
50/1(+24%) | (13) Poet's Reflection 50/1, Pulled up in a handicap hurdle over 2m1f at Exeter last time; effective from 2m to 2m2f, acts on soft and good; badly out of form. Not as far out of the handicap as last time but this 10yo is 1-30 overall. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

MAN OF THE SEA went well for a long way before running out of steam at Hereford. He can compete off an unchanged mark here and a similar effort in this lower grade could see Neil Mulholland's charge bang there at the finish. Runner-up in Jersey on his last couple of outings, Bigz Belief could feature on debut for his new trainer, while Prairie Queen is not totally discounted.

The 9yo BASHFUL BOY didn't run too badly in the Cesarewitch last time and he's interesting at this lowly level back over hurdles.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (20/1 +0%)Forget You Not |
20/1(+0%) | (8) Forget You Not 20/1, Needed the run when well beaten in a handicap chase over 2m at Hereford last time; effective at 2m on a sound surface and should come on for the outing. Lightly raced these days; capable of a good run but risky overall. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (12/1 -71%)King Of The Story |
12/1(-71%) | (4) King Of The Story 12/1, Won by 3l off 87 over 2m4f at Warwick on his penultimate start; well below form when pulled up in a handicap chase last time; effective from 2m to 2m4f on a sound surface and needs to bounce back. Won last 3 completions, all at 2m4f; ground will suit; Harry Cobden up for first time. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

King Of The Story has won three of his last five starts and had excuses when pulled up at Plumpton last time. He's preferred to top-weight Gore Point, but BEGIN THE LUCK looks worthy of another chance. He has returned from a layoff in fine fettle and, given he faces an easier assignment than when runner-up at Wincanton a week ago, Daisy Hitchins' charge is taken to pick up the winning thread.

Gore Point is respected but fellow 5yo CHIEF O'HARA ran more promisingly at Warwick last week and has potential for better.

11th (6) (16/1 -33%)Mad World |
16/1(-33%) | (6) Mad World 16/1, 10,000 euros Pillar Coral gelding; half-brother to Houston Texas, useful at 26f; hood applied for the first time; probably best watched on debut, though yard can ready one. 10,000euros foal; wears hood on debut; not an obvious type on breeding. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

No Risk Today had a subsequent bumper winner back in third when landing an Irish point-to-point and is one to note on her Rules debut. Lord Virginia will be sharper for last month's reappearance and ran well at Newton Abbot back in April, but ARMS PARK boasts the strongest form. Evan Williams' four-year-old displayed plenty of potential when runner-up at Plumpton on his introduction and looks one to keep on the right side of.

Plumpton runner-up ARMS PARK is the pick on bumper form. Several others are interesting, notably No Risk Today.
Ths is the racecard key.
