1st (1) (7/1 -110%)Eagle Fang |
7/1(-110%) | (1) Eagle Fang 7/1, Ran roughly to form when beaten 8l in the Rathbarry & Glenview Studs Hurdle (Grade 2) over 2m4f at Fairyhouse last time; a value selection on the balance of his form. Useful hurdler, only two wins but has competed at a high level, noteworthy recruit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (11) (5/2 +44%)Kurasso Blue |
5/2(+44%) | (11) Kurasso Blue 5/2, Travelled well and ran to form benefitting from better ground and a drop in grade when winning a 4yo hurdle at Limerick over 2m by a head; returns from a layoff and has a little to find in this company. Promising youngster, won over hurdles in France and at Limerick on his second Irish start. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (5/1 +0%)Franciscan Rock |
5/1(+0%) | (3) Franciscan Rock 5/1, Outpaced and looked in need of a stiffer test when 30l third in a beginners' chase over 2m4f at Gowran Park most recently; best at 3m and yet to show the same level over fences as hurdles. Smart 145-rated hurdler, three wins, has not looked a natural over fences but rated 138. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (20/1 -208%)Mclaurey |
20/1(-208%) | (5) Mclaurey 20/1, Finished well down the field when up in grade off a stiff mark in the County Handicap Hurdle over 2m1f at Cheltenham last time; had been in good form prior and returns from a break; could be competitive. Won a Limerick maiden hurdle and a Leopardstown handicap before a County Hurdle flop. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (4/1 +71%)Rushmount |
4/1(+71%) | (6) Rushmount 4/1, Outpaced and needed the run on chase debut when comfortably held in a beginners' chase over 2m4f at Down Royal; effective between 2½m and 3m and should improve with experience. Useful staying handicap hurdler last season, unconvincing chase form so far, may improve. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (28/1 -75%)Ad Caelum |
28/1(-75%) | (9) Ad Caelum 28/1, Stable took this race last year; outpaced but improved from debut when second beaten 11l in a mares' chase over 2m3f at Clonmel; effective from 2½m to 3m on decent ground and can progress with the extra trip. Experienced four-time hurdle winner, second in two small-field chases, no appeal here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (7/1 -180%)Fishery Lane |
7/1(-180%) | (2) Fishery Lane 7/1, Pulled up in the Novice Handicap Hurdle Series Final (Listed) over 2m7f at Fairyhouse last time; has a bit to find at this level. Won 2m4f maiden hurdle, pulled up in the Albert Bartlett, same fate in a handicap in April. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (5/1 +17%)Toad Hall |
5/1(+17%) | (7) Toad Hall 5/1, Made mistakes but travelled well and held on gamely when back to form down in grade, winning a novice hurdle at Kilbeggan over 3m1f by a neck; a definite threat. Two wins gained at a modest level, will need to be more fluent than he was over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) (150/1 -50%)Way Down South |
150/1(-50%) | (8) Way Down South 150/1, Made mistakes and was outpaced on chase debut when fourth beaten 34l in a beginners' chase over 2m7f at Killarney; effective around 2½m with cut but looks flattered by his spring hurdle form. Maiden hurdle winner at Limerick last year, this is ambitious for his second chase start. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (10) (28/1 +30%)Fairyland Opera |
28/1(+30%) | (10) Fairyland Opera 28/1, Too keen after a break and needed the run when well beaten in a beginners' chase over 2m1f at Fairyhouse; effective around 2½m and could improve for that initial experience if settling better. Fair hurdles form at a modest level, in rear on chase debut at Fairyhouse, no appeal here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (4) (50/1 -25%)Gatsby Grey |
50/1(-25%) | (4) Gatsby Grey 50/1, Needed the run when finishing down the field in a 12f maiden at The Curragh last time after a long layoff; must show significant improvement. Only flashes of his best form after finishing second in a Grade 1 novice hurdle in 2022. |

Willie Mullins saddles Fishery Lane and Toad Hall, with Paul Townend opting to partner the former. Pulled up on his last two starts, he is difficult to back with any great confidence. In truth, it's hard to be overly confident about any of these, with many of the main protagonists returning from breaks. Two from three at the venue, it might be worth siding with the race-fit RUSHMOUNT. Fifth in a stronger contest at Down Royal last month, it'll be disappointing if he's not involved towards the business end. Starting off over fences, Eagle Fang and Kurasso Blue are sure to have plenty of supporters, with the former running some fine races in defeat last season.

With his fitness advanced by a run at Galway, course hurdles winner FRANCISCAN ROCK has fair prospects based on a 138 official rating

1st (7) (6/1 -71%)Stoneyford Lady |
6/1(-71%) | (7) Stoneyford Lady 6/1, Improved on hurdle form when second, beaten 3 1/2l, in a beginners' chase here last time. Effective from 2m to 2 1/4m, acts on soft and good ground. Consistent and looks well treated back in handicap company. Half-sister to Captain Guinness made promising C&D chase debut last month; can go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (13) (6/1 +33%)Stily |
6/1(+33%) | (13) Stily 6/1, Ran to form when 15l third in a 2m5f handicap chase here last time. Blinkers tried for the first time; effective from 2m to 2 1/2m. In form but has a modest strike rate. Possibly didn't stay over 2m6f here last month; blinkers fitted and dropped in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (14) (16/1 -78%)Baltinglass Hill |
16/1(-78%) | (14) Baltinglass Hill 16/1, Ran to form and did best of those forcing a strong pace when beaten 2 1/2l off 79 over 2m3f at Clonmel last time. Best suited by 2m on good ground. Recent Clonmel third puts him in the mix but ideally wants better ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (10) (8/1 +11%)Toon Town |
8/1(+11%) | (10) Toon Town 8/1, Had every chance and improved slightly for softer ground when beaten 8l in a 2m1f handicap chase at Clonmel last time. Effective at 2m with some cut; showing steady improvement over fences. Well beaten twice recently at Clonmel; lot more needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (12) (12/1 -20%)Chosen Shant |
12/1(-20%) | (12) Chosen Shant 12/1, Flattered by proximity off a steady pace when beaten 10l in the T.A. Morris Memorial Mares Chase (Listed) over 2m5f at Clonmel last time. Effective from 2m to 3m and acts on any ground, but not always reliable in repeating good runs. Out of her depth on latest in Clonmel mares Listed early this month; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (7/1 -40%)Tell Nobody Nothin |
7/1(-40%) | (4) Tell Nobody Nothin 7/1, Ran to form when just beaten by a well-handicapped rival, finishing second by 5l in a 2m4f handicap chase at Naas. Trainer in form; effective from 2m to 3m and fairly treated on hurdle form. Chased home a gambled-on winner at Naas recently; back in trip and a definite player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (16) (25/1 -25%)Romella |
25/1(-25%) | (16) Romella 25/1, Won by 10l off 85 over 2m at Tipperary three starts back. Unsuited by rain-softened ground when seventh, beaten 14l off 73 last time. Effective at 2m on good ground and well treated on hurdle form. Capable low-grade hurdler but 8lb out of handicap on chase return and wants better ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (15) (12/1 +14%)The Border Boy |
12/1(+14%) | (15) The Border Boy 12/1, Ran to form when 6 1/2l third in a 2m handicap hurdle here most recently; needs plenty more to be competitive. Placed form in low-grade handicap hurdles of late; 7lb out of handicap on chasing debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) (12/1 -140%)Sayitfirst |
12/1(-140%) | (3) Sayitfirst 12/1, Scored by 3 1/2l off 89 at Sligo three runs back. Travelled well but was outbattled late when second, beaten a short-head off 99 last time. Effective at 2m on decent ground and progressing over fences. In terrific form last month, albeit on better ground; big player again if handling ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (2) (10/1 +0%)Farrokh |
10/1(+0%) | (2) Farrokh 10/1, Ran to form, benefitting from a strong pace when beaten 8l in a 2m handicap hurdle at Limerick last time. In good form previously but still has a bit to find. Maiden chaser back from hurdling; would prefer better ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (8) (16/1 +52%)Tomas O Maille |
16/1(+52%) | (8) Tomas O Maille 16/1, Made mistakes and ran below form when comfortably held in a handicap chase here last time. Usually held up; effective from 2m to 2 1/2m on good ground, though form has tailed off this autumn. 0-5 chasing, never counting over C&D last month; 3lb lower but others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (5) (10/1 +29%)Luimneach |
10/1(+29%) | (5) Luimneach 10/1, Unseated in a handicap chase at Galway last time early; may ideally prefer easier ground and yet to take to chasing. Dual hurdle winner but not yet as effective a chaser but 11lb lower so don't rule out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (9) (16/1 +20%)Listenheretomejack |
16/1(+20%) | (9) Listenheretomejack 16/1, Made too much use of when comfortably held in a 2m6f handicap chase at Tramore last time. In good form before a long absence; effective from 2m to 2 1/2m on soft or good ground. Down in the weights but must prove ability after the layoff. Promising efforts in handicap chases in summer of 2024 but best watched after long absence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (6) (33/1 -65%)Saint Peregrine |
33/1(-65%) | (6) Saint Peregrine 33/1, Fell in a handicap chase at Sligo last time when still in contention. Usually held up and returning from a short break. Effective from 2m to 2 1/2m on yielding or good ground and unexposed over fences. Faller two out behind Sayitfirst at Sligo last time when not out of it. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (11) (7/1 +30%)One And Only |
7/1(+30%) | (11) One And Only 7/1, Failed to stay when down the field in a 3m handicap hurdle at Punchestown most recently; needs to improve to feature. Second off this mark at Downpatrick last year; lack of recent run a concern. |

SAYITFIRST is in the form of her life at present. Successful at Sligo early last month and beaten just a short head on recent starts at Tramore and Down Royal, she would be a deserving winner of this competitive affair. A C&D runner-up on her first start over fences, Stoneyford Lady is an obvious danger. A half-sister to Captain Guinness, it'll be disappointing if this Henry de Bromhead-trained six-year-old isn't involved towards the business end. Tell Nobody Nothin might be suited by the drop in trip and it'll come as no surprise if he manages to get involved. Barry Connell's Farrokh, the long-absent Listenheretomejack, Clonmel third Baltinglass Hill and the first-time-blinkered Stily are others for the shortlist.

After a promising recent C&D chase debut STONEYFORD LADY could be the one to beat in handicap company

1st (5) (15/2 -200%)William Tell |
15/2(-200%) | (5) William Tell 15/2, Ran to form for a ready win when landing a maiden hurdle at Cork over 2m2f by 2l last time; returning from a break; effective 2-2 1/4m, acts on good ground; may stay further with more to come. Stablemate of Nelson Muntz, rated 5lb inferior but has potential for improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (9/1 -13%)Heron's Butler |
9/1(-13%) | (2) Heron's Butler 9/1, Improved up in trip when winning a maiden hurdle here by a nose last time; effective 2-2 3/4m, acts on good ground; progressive performer whose latest form has been franked. Promoted C&D maiden winner five weeks ago, looks held by Nelson Muntz on Kilbeggan running. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (8/1 -60%)Nelson Muntz |
8/1(-60%) | (4) Nelson Muntz 8/1, Outpaced but ran to form seeing out the longer trip when fourth, beaten 2l, in a novice hurdle over 2m4f here last time; effective 2m over hurdles, handles any ground, and remains in good form. Not beaten far in fourth over 2m4f here last time, pedigree provides positive signals. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (4/1 +20%)Melbourne Shamrock |
4/1(+20%) | (7) Melbourne Shamrock 4/1, Pulled up in a maiden hurdle at Fairyhouse last time; returning from a long layoff; effective around 2 1/4m, acts on soft ground; point and bumper form suggest he should be capable of better, though this looks demanding. Point winner; promising bumper run, picked up an injury at Fairyhouse almost a year ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (7/2 +42%)Found A Diamond |
7/2(+42%) | (1) Found A Diamond 7/2, Ran to form when winning a maiden hurdle here over 2m6f by 1 1/2l last time; effective 2-2 3/4m, acts on heavy and good ground; in good form but needs more up in grade. Winning favourite in a C&D maiden three weeks ago, more on his plate now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (18/1 -29%)Luck Between Us |
18/1(-29%) | (6) Luck Between Us 18/1, Improved again when finishing 2l third in a maiden hurdle over 2m4f at Sligo on his most recent start; cheekpieces fitted for the first time; effective at 2m4f on good ground; capable of winning a race but faces a tough task here. Placed in two Sligo maiden hurdles, appears well held by St Lawrence's Well on bumper form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (40/1 -21%)Huntsgrove |
40/1(-21%) | (3) Huntsgrove 40/1, Outclassed when fourth, beaten 26l, in a novice hurdle over 2m5f at Galway last time; ideally wants 2m4f; effective around 2 1/2m, acts on good ground; yet to take to chasing and bit to prove back in this discipline. Very experienced but has looked limited since winning a maiden at Sligo in May. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (8) (11/4 0%)St Lawrence's Well |
11/4(0%) | (8) St Lawrence's Well 11/4, Ran to form when beaten 8l in a maiden hurdle over 2m4f at Clonmel last time; effective 2 1/2-3m, acts on good ground; point and bumper winner whose debut form has been franked at Listed level, suggesting more to come over hurdles. Point and bumper winner, a shade disappointing in a maiden hurdle at Clonmel last time. |

Clearly appreciating the step up in trip when successful here, FOUND A DIAMOND might be able to follow up. The five-year-old will again be ridden by Shane Markey, who claims a valuable 7lb. One of two Harry Kelly-trained representatives in the line-up, Nelson Muntz sets the standard with a mark of 117. Upped in trip after finishing fourth on his latest outing, he was a long way in front of Heron's Butler when they clashed at Kilbeggan in September. Pulled up and subsequently found to be lame when last seen over 11 months ago, point-to-point winner Melbourne Shamrock is of definite interest, while St Lawrence's Well and William Tell are others capable of making an impact.

Hard to know what to expect from Melbourne Shamrock after almost a year off. NELSON MUNTZ may be a safer option

1st (9) (1/5 +30%)Place De La Nation |
1/5(+30%) | (9) Place De La Nation 1/5, Yard has won three of the last ten runnings of this race. Had every chance but was outclassed though improved when beaten 4l in the Grade 1 Triumph Hurdle over 2m1f at Cheltenham last time. Effective at 2m, acts on soft and good to soft; should be winning soon for top yard, drops in grade. Stands out in this company on her Triumph Hurdle fifth, this should be a formality. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (10/3 +5%)Divaboriva |
10/3(+5%) | (1) Divaboriva 10/3, Improved from debut when second, beaten 6l, in a maiden hurdle over 2m4f at Cork last time. Effective from 2m to 2½m, acts with cut; progressive and with form franked, remains competitive. Smart bumper performer, made a good start to her hurdling career, faces a top-class rival. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (18/1 +10%)Glenmalure Lady |
18/1(+10%) | (3) Glenmalure Lady 18/1, Had every chance and ran to form when comfortably held in a Listed novice hurdle over 3m at Cork last time. Effective around 2½m and should be capable of finding a maiden. Won three from ten starts in points, a distant second at Tramore, struggled at Cork. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (33/1 +18%)Toor Idaho |
33/1(+18%) | (6) Toor Idaho 33/1, Ran to form but was well beaten in a maiden hurdle over 2m4f at Clonmel last time. Effective around 2¾m, acts on good ground; bit to prove after a couple of poor runs and looks vulnerable in this grade. Second at Ballinrobe in August is beginning to look like a flash in the pan. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (33/1 -175%)Moonlight Paradise |
33/1(-175%) | (8) Moonlight Paradise 33/1, Showed minor promise on hurdle debut when well beaten in a maiden hurdle over 2m4f at Clonmel last time. Effective around 2½m, acts on yielding and good ground; should improve for initial experience. Beat a subsequent winner when winning a point, should improve from a run at Clonmel. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (80/1 -60%)Question Piege |
80/1(-60%) | (5) Question Piege 80/1, Continued in poor form when well beaten in a mares' bumper over 2m at Naas last time; has all to do. No sign of winning potential in three bumper runs, saddle slipped on second start. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (80/1 +47%)Venturi Effect |
80/1(+47%) | (7) Venturi Effect 80/1, Never in the race and finished down the field in a maiden hurdle over 2m5f here on latest outing. Absent for a very lengthy period and yet to show any worthwhile ability. Struggled in three maidens at this venue in the early part of last year. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) (50/1 +50%)Barnahash Hill |
50/1(+50%) | (2) Barnahash Hill 50/1, Yet to show any real signs of ability and has plenty to find. Stablemate of Divaboriva, tailed off in bumper, unseated early on hurdling debut. |

Triumph Hurdle fifth PLACE DE LA NATION should be too strong for this opposition. Third on her only start in her native France, the Willie Mullins-trained filly ran a big race on her stable debut when runner-up behind a well-fancied stablemate at Fairyhouse in February. Clearly benefitting from that outing, the daughter of Masked Marvel belied odds of 100/1 when beaten four lengths at the Cheltenham Festival and it will be a surprise if she can't make the breakthrough on this occasion. Grade 3-placed in a bumper, Divaboriva ran well on her most recent outing over timber when second to a smart prospect at Cork. Holly Brook will need to improve from her hurdling debut, but cannot be discounted.

The Triumph Hurdle fifth PLACE DE LA NATION should have little trouble coping with Divaboriva who looks a clear second-best

1st (1) (8/1 +33%)Jolie Jewel |
8/1(+33%) | (1) Jolie Jewel 8/1, Below form when finishing down the field in a 2m7f handicap hurdle at Punchestown last time; usually held up and effective from 2½m to 3m on a sound surface; has something to prove after a couple of below-par runs. Needs to improve on recent form; down in grade but wants better ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (10/1 0%)Killian's Garden |
10/1(0%) | (2) Killian's Garden 10/1, Keen and possibly found the ground a bit soft when comfortably held in a Gowran Park handicap hurdle last time; effective from 2m to 2m3f on good ground; needs to find a bit more to defy this mark. Keen and didn't get home on soft at Gowran; needs ground to dry out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (6/1 +20%)Enge Hazard |
6/1(+20%) | (3) Enge Hazard 6/1, Made too much use of when stepping up in trip after a break, needing the run when fourth beaten 20l in a 2m6f Ballinrobe handicap hurdle; returns from a short break and effective at 2m on ground with cut; should come on for the run. Encouraging enough Ballinrobe comeback; drop back to 2m4f to suit and remains unexposed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) (5/1 +0%)Dairy Force |
5/1(+0%) | (9) Dairy Force 5/1, Returned to form up in trip when beaten 1¼l off 100 at Clonmel last time; effective between 2m and 2½m on good ground; could build on that recent revival. Recent clear Clonmel second augurs well; likely has more to offer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (12) (3/1 -9%)Pourquoi Poi |
3/1(-9%) | (12) Pourquoi Poi 3/1, Improved for the step up in trip when winning a Punchestown handicap by 5l off 87 last time; effective at 2½m on good ground; open to further progress but faces a tougher task off this revised mark. Ready Punchestown winner last month could be up to defying 11lb rise if handling ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (13) (11/2 +21%)Live To Laugh |
11/2(+21%) | (13) Live To Laugh 11/2, Ran to form when third, beaten 14l, in a 2m5f handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse last time; effective from 2½m to 3m and handles any ground; currently in good heart. Solid placed form of late, including on soft; contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (10) (50/1 +0%)Johngus |
50/1(+0%) | (10) Johngus 50/1, Hampered, outpaced, and never threatened when well beaten in a 2m Wexford handicap hurdle latest; effective at 2m and prefers soft conditions; currently out of form. Veteran hard to be confident in nowadays but will appreciate conditions. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (25/1 +24%)Brilliant Light |
25/1(+24%) | (7) Brilliant Light 25/1, Pulled up in a 3m handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse last time; versatile with regard to trip and best on good ground; form has been patchy lately though well treated on best efforts. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (11) (50/1 -52%)Solar Falcon |
50/1(-52%) | (11) Solar Falcon 50/1, Disappointing on handicap debut when down the field in a 2m hurdle at Wexford last time; cheekpieces applied for the first time; effective at 2m on good ground; maiden form weak and needs to improve. Moderate recent comeback run; cheekpieces now tried but hard to be confident in. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (8) (12/1 -71%)Cathryns Ruby |
12/1(-71%) | (8) Cathryns Ruby 12/1, Returned to form down in grade when winning a Wexford handicap by 1/2l off 97 last time; effective around 2½m on good ground; could progress now she's off the mark but must prove herself off this higher rating. Breakthrough win at Wexford latest; 5lb higher but could cope with that if in the mood. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (5) (33/1 -32%)Penny Jar |
33/1(-32%) | (5) Penny Jar 33/1, Raced wide and never threatened, finishing a little below form when comfortably held in a 2m3f handicap hurdle at Limerick last time; effective at around 2½m on good ground; unreliable performer. Completed a handicap hat-trick in 2022 but on a losing run and hard to be confident in. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (6) (17/2 -113%)Spick And Span |
17/2(-113%) | (6) Spick And Span 17/2, Ran to form when second, beaten 7l, in a 2m handicap hurdle at Punchestown latest; effective at 2m though yet to convince fully with stamina for further; generally consistent and fairly treated. Good recent form; still needs more fluency in her jumping and ideally wants better ground. |

An impressive winner on his handicap debut at Punchestown, POURQUOI POI can follow up. Stepping up to this trip for the first time, the Paul Flynn-trained four-year-old led before the last and went clear on the run-in. Despite being hit with an 11lb hike, he could easily be ahead of the handicapper and it is surely significant that Jack Kennedy, who was on board last time, remains loyal. Dairy Force shaped well enough when runner-up at Clonmel to suggest he can be competitive off a mark of 102. A former maiden hurdle winner, the Liam O'Brien-trained gelding is lightly raced. Cathryns Ruby would also have claims on her recent Wexford win.

the 4yo POURQUOI POI bolted up on his return to action at Punchestown and could be up to defying an 11lb hike if handling the ground

1st (1) (5/1 -25%)Plunkett Street |
5/1(-25%) | (1) Plunkett Street 5/1, Quickened clear and ran to form on handicap debut, just outstayed late up in trip having gone on a bit soon. Beaten a nose off 106 at Cork last time. Effective at 2m and just about gets 2 1/2m; consistent hurdler and fairly treated. Clear Cork second rates a big player again off 4lb higher if handling conditions. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (5/1 -67%)Lambay Island |
5/1(-67%) | (2) Lambay Island 5/1, Raced a bit freely and ran to form before flattening out late behind race-fit rivals when 1 1/2l third in a novice hurdle here last time. 10/1(+29%) | (5) Miss Mini Bee 10/1, Made too much use of early and needed the run when comfortably held in a 2m Cork handicap hurdle last time. Effective at 2–2 1/2m and handles cut; should come on for that reappearance. Opening handicap efforts leave her with fair bit to find, entitled to come on for latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (7/2 +30%)Giant Haystacks |
7/2(+30%) | (4) Giant Haystacks 7/2, Outpaced but returned to form on better ground when 4l third in a Punchestown handicap hurdle last time. Suited by around 2 1/2m and acts on yielding and good ground. Unreliable but well treated on best form and would not want rain. Recent Punchestown third puts him in the mix; would appreciate some drying in the ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (7/2 +50%)Down Around |
7/2(+50%) | (9) Down Around 7/2, From the yard that won this last year; ran to form when 8 1/2l third in a 2m7f Punchestown handicap hurdle last time. Effective 2m–2m6f; back in form and should remain competitive. Good recent form; back in trip here and could go well on ground he handles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (14/1 +30%)Arctic Piper |
14/1(+30%) | (8) Arctic Piper 14/1, Stopped quickly up in trip and may have found the ground on the quick side when finishing down the field in a Cork handicap hurdle last time. Effective at 2m, best form on heavy; plenty more needed. Handicap debut at Cork in May moderate, best watched on return from 6 months' absence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (6) (18/1 +10%)Sphagnum |
18/1(+10%) | (6) Sphagnum 18/1, Produced another poor hurdles run, finishing down the field in a 3m2f Sligo handicap hurdle last time. Off a short break; prefers 3m and good ground and is better over fences. Much better staying chaser; back from a break over an inadequate trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (10) (12/1 +14%)Hatfield Hammer |
12/1(+14%) | (10) Hatfield Hammer 12/1, Pulled up in a beginners' chase over 2m5f at Sligo on latest start. Off a short break; consistent over hurdles and effective from 2–2 1/2m. Back from brief stint chasing; trip no problem but ground could be. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (11) (40/1 -21%)Liberated Light |
40/1(-21%) | (11) Liberated Light 40/1, Failed to stay up in trip when down the field in a Cork handicap hurdle last time. Effective at 2m, yet to convince with stamina for further and handles cut; mark looks about right. Hard to fancy on recent form but worth a market watch all the same. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (12) (25/1 -25%)No Demand |
25/1(-25%) | (12) No Demand 25/1, Ran to form but never threatened when well beaten in a 2m3f Navan maiden hurdle last time. Cheekpieces on first time; off a short break; effective at 2–2 1/2m but more needed to defy this mark. Hasn't looked progressive, cheekpieces reached for on second handicap attempt. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (3) (12/1 -85%)Mister Box |
12/1(-85%) | (3) Mister Box 12/1, Ran to form when back down in trip but finished down the field in a maiden hurdle over 2m at Gowran Park last time. Significant jockey booking; effective at 2m and handles cut, though stamina needs to be proven over this longer trip. 5yo with potential for more but opening mark high enough on what he's achieved. |

The Henry De Bromhead-trained LAMBAY ISLAND can make a winning start in handicap company. A lightly-raced son of Harzand, the five-year-old improved on previous form when third over track and trip and he appears to hold strong claims under Darragh O'Keeffe. Beaten the minimum distance at Cork earlier this month, Plunkett Street has to be respected. A dual winner on the Flat, the seven-year-old remains unexposed in this discipline. Placed on his two most recent starts, C&D winner Down Around has to be given serious consideration.

Top-weight PLUNKETT STREET is a tentative selection, despite slight ground concerns after being withdrawn at Fairyhouse on Monday

1st (7) (25/1 -25%)Hillstar Blues |
25/1(-25%) | (7) Hillstar Blues 25/1, Needed the run when down the field in a handicap hurdle at Listowel last time. Off a short break; looks in need of a bit further than 2m; opening mark seems fair and could improve under a stronger ride. Handicap debut run at Listowel leaves him with lots to find. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (12/1 +0%)Freddie Robdal |
12/1(+0%) | (5) Freddie Robdal 12/1, Travelled well but found little up the hill when held in a 2m2f handicap hurdle at Downpatrick last time. Usually held up; returns from a break; effective at 2–2½m on good ground and better treated on chase form. Better chaser unable to exploit lower hurdles mark over the summer; may need this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (14) (25/1 -25%)Chemdawg |
25/1(-25%) | (14) Chemdawg 25/1, Outclassed up in grade on her flat return when down the field over 12f at Galway last time. Blinkers fitted for the first time; has a bit to find. Last month's Flat comeback run should have brought her on and blinkers now tried. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (9/2 -50%)No Big Deal |
9/2(-50%) | (1) No Big Deal 9/2, Idled but ran to form when landing a handicap by a head off 93 over 2m1f at Clonmel last time. Effective at 2m and acts on any ground; currently in good form in both codes. Deserved Clonmel win last month but 6lb rise makes this tough enough.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (85/40 +72%)Struck Oil |
85/40(+72%) | (4) Struck Oil 85/40, Ran to form but well beaten in a handicap hurdle here last time. Wears a tongue-tie for the first time; effective at 2m and could progress in handicaps for a top yard but needs more to defy this mark. Hampered in both handicaps so there may well be improvement to come; tongue-tie tried. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (17) (25/1 -25%)Dontdooddson |
25/1(-25%) | (17) Dontdooddson 25/1, A bit too free when down the field in a 2m2f handicap hurdle at Listowel last time. Off a short break; effective at 2m and acts on any ground; not the force of old but the handicapper has eased his mark, though remains inconsistent. Wexford winner in July but too keen of late; others look more likely. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) (16/1 -88%)Bringsty |
16/1(-88%) | (9) Bringsty 16/1, Ran to form when beaten 8¼l in a 2m1f handicap hurdle at Downpatrick last time. Effective at 2m; multiple flat winner who barely stays this trip and has been inconsistent over hurdles. Five-time Flat winner is 0-9 hurdling, penultimate Killarney third would give him claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (11) (7/1 -8%)Getaway Henry |
7/1(-8%) | (11) Getaway Henry 7/1, Ran to form when second, beaten 6l, in a handicap hurdle here last time. Effective at 2m and prefers a sound surface; appears to be running back into form. Last month's C&D 2nd to Destivelle his best run for a while; same mark so has his chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) (11/1 -29%)Bowgate Street |
11/1(-29%) | (8) Bowgate Street 11/1, A bit free but ran to form when beaten 9l in a 2m2f handicap hurdle at Sligo last time. In good form previously; effective at 2–2½m on soft or good ground; consistent though has a modest strike rate. Most recently fair fifth when attempting repeat Sligo win last month; more needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (12) (5/1 -67%)Destivelle |
5/1(-67%) | (12) Destivelle 5/1, Did it comfortably when landing a handicap by 6l off 73 here last time. Effective at 2m and acts on soft or good ground; back in form and may have a little more to offer now she has won. Likes it here, up 9lb for last month's 6l win over Getaway Henry but should go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (19) (33/1 -32%)Royal Time |
33/1(-32%) | (19) Royal Time 33/1, Made mistakes and may have found the ground too soft when down the field in a 2m1f handicap chase at Clonmel last time. Could stay a bit further but form in and out. Returned last month and well held in both attempts chasing; seems an unlikely one; reserve. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (10) (8/1 +33%)Centaq |
8/1(+33%) | (10) Centaq 8/1, Made mistakes but held every chance before finishing down the field in a handicap hurdle here last time. Previously in good form; effective at 2m1f and may do better over slightly further. Best at Downpatrick; nowhere near as effective over today's C&D last month, jumping left. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (13) (25/1 +50%)Chesterbaylad |
25/1(+50%) | (13) Chesterbaylad 25/1, Pulled up in a handicap hurdle here last time. Effective at 2m but has yet to show much ability over hurdles. Not easy to see where improvement is to come from unless soft ground suits. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (2) (40/1 -21%)Answering |
40/1(-21%) | (2) Answering 40/1, Pulled up in a handicap hurdle here last time. Wears a tongue-tie for the first time; effective at 2m, suited by cut and likes to dominate, though out of form lately. C&D maiden winner but struggling to make an impact in handicaps; tongue-tie now tried. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
15th (6) (50/1 -317%)Moulane West |
50/1(-317%) | (6) Moulane West 50/1, No obvious excuse when finishing down the field in a 2m4f handicap hurdle at Sligo last time. Effective at 2m on good ground; was consistent until latest but now looks fully exposed to the handicapper. Shot up the handicap after Sligo win in May, remains opposable off this mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
16th (16) (66/1 +0%)Mayo For Sam |
66/1(+0%) | (16) Mayo For Sam 66/1, Never involved when down the field in a 2m1f handicap hurdle at Galway last time. Yet to convince with stamina for 2m and remains out of form in both codes. 0-5 hurdling, well held at Galway latest; needs to improve plenty and wants better ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
17th (18) (50/1 -25%)Slea Head |
50/1(-25%) | (18) Slea Head 50/1, Travelled well but found nothing after briefly threatening when down the field in a 2m1f handicap hurdle at Ballinrobe last time. Returning from a break; yet to show any worthwhile form. Moderate effort when last seen in August at Ballinrobe; hard to make a case for. |

Clonmel winner NO BIG DEAL could be capable of following up under top weight. Raised 6lb for that narrow success, the Charles O'Brien-trained gelding has a mark of 65 on the Flat, so it is unlikely that a 99 rating is beyond him over hurdles. An impressive winner here, Destivelle has to be considered for the Ciaran Murphy yard. A 9lb hike may not be insurmountable given the ease with which the mare scored on her latest outing. Bringsty has yet to win over flights but is seriously well handicapped if putting it all together.

Belatedly off the mark over C&D last month, DESTIVELLE can double up here and confirm the form with the runner-up Getaway Henry

5/2(+62%) | (5) Mullaghgloss 5/2, Green and made mistakes but a very promising debut when second, beaten 8l, in an auction hurdle at Galway last time; effective at 2m on yielding or good; should improve for that experience and looks capable of winning a maiden. Bumper winner at Galway, chased home an odds-on shot at the same venue on hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (9/1 -38%)Firebrand |
9/1(-38%) | (1) Firebrand 9/1, Ran to form when 4l third in a maiden hurdle at Galway last time; suited by 10f on testing ground on the Flat and 2m over hurdles; consistent but can be frustrating in this sphere. Flat winner, experienced hurdler, placed four times, rated 110, should not be far away. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (14) (16/1 -14%)The Goose's Acre |
16/1(-14%) | (14) The Goose's Acre 16/1, Ran to form when well beaten in a maiden hurdle over 2m6f here last time; effective from 2m to 2½m; in fair form but may be one for handicaps. Has made the frame twice but beaten a long way on both occasions, not a strong contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (11/2 -22%)Holy See |
11/2(-22%) | (2) Holy See 11/2, Ran to form when comfortably held in the O'Driscoll's Irish Whiskey Juvenile Hurdle (Grade 2) at Fairyhouse last time; effective at 2m and handles cut; consistent and should be capable of winning a maiden. Flat winner in France, highly tried as a juvenile hurdler, capable of winning a maiden. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (66/1 -32%)Empire Walk |
66/1(-32%) | (9) Empire Walk 66/1, Outpaced on a modest debut when well beaten in a maiden hurdle over 2m4f at Wexford last time; effective around 2½m and likely to find 2m too sharp. Mild promise in points, solid staying pedigree, soundly beaten in a 2m4f maiden at Wexford. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (15) (150/1 -50%)Villagers Cross |
150/1(-50%) | (15) Villagers Cross 150/1, Outpaced and appeared unsuited by the drop in trip when down the field in a 2m2f maiden hurdle at Fontwell last time; yet to show much and likely to find 2m too sharp. Slipped up first time out; has shown next to nothing in two completed starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (16) (12/1 -71%)We Be Grand |
12/1(-71%) | (16) We Be Grand 12/1, Green, made mistakes, and outpaced on a modest debut when comfortably held in a 2m3f maiden hurdle at Limerick last time; effective at 2m and may do better, but has something to prove. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

18/1(-13%) | (12) Moon Mission 18/1, Bit free but ran to form when 3l third in a Ladies bumper at Tramore last time; has a bit to find here. Placed twice in bumpers, fair third at Tramore six weeks ago, makes hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (10) (66/1 -32%)Illtakehimmyself |
66/1(-32%) | (10) Illtakehimmyself 66/1, Ran to form when down the field in a maiden hurdle at Wexford last time; acts on good ground but may need further than 2m in time. Has finished behind stablemate It's Not His Fault in his two races, seems safe to rule out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (3) (5/2 +17%)Le Labo |
5/2(+17%) | (3) Le Labo 5/2, Very green and below form up in grade when down the field in the Weatherbys NH Flat Race (Grade 2) over 2m1f at Aintree last time; top course trainer but needs to improve. Debut bumper winner at this venue, tailed off in a Grade 2 event at Aintree, could prosper. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (7) (12/1 +14%)Cailin Deas |
12/1(+14%) | (7) Cailin Deas 12/1, Bit free and made mistakes but a promising debut when well beaten in a maiden hurdle here last time; in good form prior, effective at 2m on yielding or good ground; debut form franked and open to progress. Ran in ten bumpers, finally rewarded with Kilbeggan win, saddle slipped on hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (8) (125/1 -150%)Desertmore Charm |
125/1(-150%) | (8) Desertmore Charm 125/1, Outpaced on a modest bumper debut when well beaten over 2m2f at Downpatrick on his only start; returns from a short break and has plenty to find. Did not seem to handle the track when last of seven in a bumper at Downpatrick on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (17) (250/1 -67%)Angels Halo |
250/1(-67%) | (17) Angels Halo 250/1, Outpaced and never threatened when down the field in a maiden hurdle at Navan last time; stays 3m in points and handles heavy ground but hard to fancy. Only two finishers when second in a point, tailed off in two recent maiden hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (18) (250/1 -67%)Miss Guiry |
250/1(-67%) | (18) Miss Guiry 250/1, Green and outpaced, continued in poor form when down the field in a maiden hurdle at Wexford last time; effective at 2m on good ground; debut bumper form was franked but hasn't progressed and plenty to prove. First reserve, placed in the first of three bumper outings, no promise over hurdles so far. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (6) (66/1 -100%)Sneddy Eddie |
66/1(-100%) | (6) Sneddy Eddie 66/1, Ran to form when beaten 6l in a 7f handicap at Gowran Park last time; had been in good form beforehand but returns from a break and faces a stiff task here. Three-time Flat winner at up to 1m, handles very soft ground, no hurdling experience. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (5/1 +0%)Minella Emperor |
5/1(+0%) | (4) Minella Emperor 5/1, Improved down in grade when winning a bumper at Cork over 2m3f by 2l last time; a clear threat with promise of more to come over hurdles though will need stiff test down in trip. Winner of two small-field 2m3f bumpers on good ground, might prefer further than this. |

A bumper winner here in March, LE LABO can strike on his first start over hurdles. Although subsequently well beaten in a Grade 2 race at Aintree, that run was unquestionably too bad to be true. Sent off 4/1 on that occasion, his shrewd connections were obviously expecting a decent effort. Off the track since that contest in April, the five-year-old can get his career back on track. Dual bumper scorer Minella Emperor has to be a strong contender, while Holy See sets a fair standard of those already boasting hurdling experience.

A debut winner in a bumper at this venue, LE LABO (nap) may be able to replicate that performance on his first attempt over hurdles
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
