40/1(+0%) | (8) Battle Stride 40/1, Below form when tried in a hood and down the field in a maiden hurdle at Warwick last time; effective at 2m and acts on good ground; improvement needed now handicapping. Showed minor promise on second hurdle start but has breathing issues; handicap debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

REINADO looked certain to go close when falling at the last at Ffos Las recently. This wouldn't appear to be the deepest of contests so, provided that tumble hasn't knocked his confidence, he must have an excellent chance. Kabuki should appreciate a return to hurdles having struggled on the Flat in the summer, while market support for handicap debutant Huxley would be noteworthy.

This could be a good opportunity for REINADO, who had not been asked for his effort before his last-flight fall at Ffos Las last month.

Many of these lack experience over timber, but dual bumper winner QUEENOFTHEJUKEBOX could make a smooth transition to hurdling. There is plenty of stamina on the dam's side, but she is from the family of classy two-miler Accordion Etoile so this intermediate trip shouldn't be a problem. Harmony Heights shaped with promise on her hurdling bow at Chepstow and is entitled to improve. Irish import Cool Brise and Rene's Walk would also warrant consideration should the market react favourably to them.

Course bumper winner QUEENOFTHEJUKEBOX looks a good prospect for novice hurdles this season and gets the nod.

1/1(+20%) | (1) Aworkinprogress 1/1, Improved again, winning comfortably when landing a handicap by 2l off 114 over 3m at Lingfield last time; effective from 2m6f-3m, acts on Hy, S; progressive sort with more to come this season. 4-4 during excellent first season over fences; back from nine-month break today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

(2) (28/1 -155%)Bretney |
28/1(-155%) | (2) Bretney 28/1, Below form, may have needed run when pulled up in a handicap chase at Fontwell latest; effective 3m-4m, acts well on S; inconsistent but capable on his day. Pulled up four times in a row since Borders National win last December; too risky. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

AWORKINPROGRESS might have lived up to his name over hurdles, but it was a completely different story when switched to the larger obstacles last term. A perfect four from four so far, including a hat-trick of wins at Lingfield, the progressive gelding may still be well handicapped from 7lb higher. Given that he's been successful when fresh previously, this could be another fine opportunity. Broomfields Cave has a lengthy absence to overcome but looks the biggest threat, although Gold Clermont should benefit from a drop in trip.

It will be interesting to see what Olly Murphy can do with GOLD CLERMONT (nap), who makes his seasonal/stable debut from a good mark.

(2) (2/1 +56%)Lunar Discovery |
2/1(+56%) | (2) Lunar Discovery 2/1, Outpaced and looked in need of a stiffer test when comfortably held in a handicap chase at Newton Abbot last time; effective from 2m to 2m4f, acts on any ground, and looks fairly treated. Below form last time but has good claims if judged on C&D third in September. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (11/4 +8%)Blacksamssenorita |
11/4(+8%) | (4) Blacksamssenorita 11/4, Below form when stepped up in trip and set it up for closers when second, beaten 13l, in a novice hurdle over 2m5f at Plumpton last time; effective from 2m1f to 2m4f and acts on good to soft and good to firm; brings potential to fences. Absent since short-odds defeat over hurdles in April but has potential over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (9/2 -100%)Passing Kate |
9/2(-100%) | (5) Passing Kate 9/2, Improved when benefitting from a pace collapse to land a handicap by 1 1/2l off 101 over 2m3f at Chepstow last time; effective around 2m4f and acts on soft ground; a big player if ready to go. 2-3 when switched to fences at start of year; major player if tuned up after her break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (5/1 -25%)Lime Drop |
5/1(-25%) | (1) Lime Drop 5/1, Was just getting going when falling in a handicap chase here last time; effective from 2m to 2m4f and acts on good to soft and good ground. Won this race last year and should go well again if handling the softer ground. Won this race in 2024 but the ground may be slower than she prefers today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (11/2 +21%)Brucio |
11/2(+21%) | (3) Brucio 11/2, Needed the run and may have found the ground too quick when 43l third in the Tom Malone Bloodstock Novices' Chase (Listed) over 2m3f at Chepstow last time; effective at 2m and acts on soft and good ground; could improve now handicapping. Tricky to weigh up at present but this is an ease in grade. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Last year's winner Lime Drop is back for more, although she is 10lb higher this time around and arrives following a fall on her reappearance. She still warrants consideration but BLACKSAMSSENORITA showed good ability as a novice hurdler and is fancied to take her game to a new level now she tackles fences, with a mark of 108 perfectly acceptable on her handicap bow. Passing Kate has won both completed starts in this sphere, although her jumping when pulled up in between those victories gives cause for concern.

The pick is LUNAR DISCOVERY, who needs to rebound from a below-par run last month but was a creditable third over C&D in September.

Third in Bangor bumper but tailed off in novice hurdle there after long layoff. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(14) (300/1 -140%)Miss Galiway |
300/1(-140%) | (14) Miss Galiway 300/1, Made mistakes and may not have stayed when held in a novice hurdle at Worcester last time; a modest flat performer yet to convince with stamina for 2m over hurdles. Poor on the Flat and little encouragement so far over hurdles. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

JASMINE D'AIRY made amends for a couple of defeats as favourite when laughing at a subsequent three-time winner in the hands of Ben Sutton at Plumpton. Given time to strengthen further, Harry Derham's mare can pick up where she left off, although Choice Runner was in the process of making an encouraging jumping debut when coming to grief here back in the spring and has had wind surgery during his time off. U S Marshall cost 55,000 pounds after scoring between the flags in Ireland and is also noted.

Plumpton winner JASMINE D'AIRY has the best form and may follow up. Choice Runner may have untapped potential.

Hillsin has to be respected following his Exeter success last month, but a 3lb rise demands more from him. With that in mind, preference is for DRAYTON FLYER, who has shown promise in all three starts to date and a mark of 104 should be workable on his handicap debut. Thank You Blue edges out Tarbuck to be best of the rest.

The percentage call is DRAYTON FLYER who shaped nicely in two runs over hurdles last term and has potential, unlike most of his rivals.

RATHKENNY ran well on both starts between the flags and was successful on the most recent of those occasions in April. The five-year-old makes his Rules debut here and could be up making it a victorious one. Any market support for Eastern Fire or Laraktar would have to be noted, while Maximum Benefit is the pick of those with bumper experience.

Preference is for RATHKENNY who has already shown a fair level of ability in points. Eastern Fire and Laraktar are feared.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
