The data in the racecards below is for the past year. View the racecard key.

ANGELA'S BAAR showed stacks on promise when filling the runner-up spot over 6f at Pontefract on her debut and she could be the one to flourish the most, with the step up to 7f likely to be a source for progression. Kawthar and Adalida have similar profiles and are appealing options for the shortlist, while Dunkeld Dreamer represents a yard that is flying with its juveniles and she is a notable debutant to consider.

Angela's Baar looked a shade unlucky not to make a winning debut but slight preference is for Windsor runner-up ADALIDA.

CITY OF POETS readily built on his promising Thirsk debut with a bloodless success at Lingfield in April. Freshened by a short break, this could be an ideal piece of placement for the son of Ghaiyyath to follow up. Fan Club and Blackanddeckers are potential improvers that warrant respect. However, Ziggy's Angel is a well-related gelding and won't need to be out of the ordinary to give the selection the most to think about.

By far the most obvious answer is CITY OF POETS, who looked useful when dominating from the front at Lingfield in April.

Rose Of New Jersey made the most of a drop in class to win a 0-58 handicap at Carlisle last month and rates a key player as she bids to double her career tally off just 3lb higher. However, ROCK DIVA has also faced stiffer tests and she could be worth chancing with a hood added for her turf/stable debut from a potentially lenient rating. Fallons First and Beta Reader complete the shortlist.

Carlisle winner Rose Of New Jersey ought to go well again here but the one to take out of that race is the fourth, CANDLE OF TIME.

RUMBA BAY failed to supplement her Salisbury triumph when fourth at Ripon last time, but that was still a fair effort. David Evans' filly competes off the same rating and she can bounce back on this occasion. Alpine Girl returns off a 1lb lower rating than her sixth at Yarmouth when last seen and is an interesting contender on her first start for the Julie Camacho yard. Daytona Lady is another to note.

A few of these look iffy for one reason or another but one exception is progressive 3yo RUMBA BAY, who has won three times this year.

PALADIN struck by half a length at Southwell in December and makes his return to the fray off just a 4lb higher rating. Provided the four-year-old can back that performance up, he could be the one to beat. Cosmos Raj hasn't finished outside of the top two in each of his last six outings and it would be no surprise to see him feature. Tele Red isn't ruled out either.

Close to the pace throughout when close fourth in a good York handicap on Saturday, TELE RED (nap) gets the verdict off the same mark.

GOLDEN PROSPERITY bounced back to form with a taking success in a classified race at Nottingham last week and a 5lb penalty may not be enough to prevent him from going in again over shorter. More of a specialist on the all-weather, Arlington is a key player if transferring those abilities, while Calafrio is capable of being in the mix. Asadjumeirah and Quercus are others to note.

This looks fraught with danger and NEWYORKSTATEOFMIND is just a tentative selection. Calafrio might prove best of the rest.

This can go the way of BERNALDA, who shaped with promise when having her first go over this distance at Redcar last time out. A 1lb drop will make life easier on this occasion, along with Fred Daly's 5lb claim, and she is preferred to Titainium, who shaped well for a long way before weakening into fourth late in the piece over 1m4f at Catterick last week. A comfortable winner at Leicester over this distance on her penultimate outing, Guendolen also warrants consideration.

This can go to BERNALDA, who can race off a 1lb lower mark than when a good third at Redcar and remains with few miles on the clock
Ths is the racecard key.
