A highly encouraging runner-up on his hurdling bow at Uttoxeter last month, BROOK BAY should be well suited by going up in distance as a point-to-point winner and he can get off the mark under Rules. That may be at the main expense of impressive Uttoxeter bumper scorer Cherie D'am, who is a key player on her timber debut. Dontyawantme is of interest on her first start for new connections, while Hey Brother and Wild Side Of Life cannot be ruled out either.

CHERIE D'AM probably didn't beat a great deal in a Uttoxeter bumper on her Rules debut back in April, but she had the others well strung out and appeals as the type to do well over jumps for her top stable. Dontyawantme, a bumper winner for Fergal O'Brien, will be suited by the step up in trip on this switch to hurdling, while Wild Side of Life requires a close look in the betting having opened his account in points in easy fashion in April.

A progressive sort towards the end of last season, with two victories in his last three, EATON COLLINA has run well fresh before and this looks like a good opportunity on his return. C&D winner Gallic Geordie arrives with solid claims, while Cruz Control is a key player if coming here instead of his preferred engagement at Ascot. Last year's winner Ladronne is another to note, despite a 6lb higher mark this time around.

Plenty are in with a shout. EATON COLLINA made a bright start to life over fences last term and returns on a still lenient-looking mark so he can rifle in another success at the chief expense of ex-French winner Fricotin, who could have more to offer now starting out for new connections. Gallic Geordie, Mount Tempest and Cruz Control also have much to recommend them and need factoring into this competitive handicap chase.

A high-class Listed affair in which slight preference is for KATEIRA, who ended last season with an excellent second in the Mersey Novices' Hurdle. Dan Skelton's progressive mare could be well suited by dropping back in trip, but it's the fact she is proven over further that may see her outstay the classy Luccia, who also made the frame in an Aintree Grade 1 when last seen. A taking winner of the Mares Novices' Hurdle at Cheltenham, with Luccia back in fourth, You Wear It Well is a key player, but must give weight all round.

An open renewal despite the field size. LUCCIA didn't quite live up to expectations at the spring Festivals but, as a 5-y-o, time is very much on her side. She's fancied to hit the ground running and reverse Dawn Run form with You Wear It Well, with the Dan Skelton trained mare Kateira feared most in receipt of weight from that pair.

Kateira and Luccia are feared but preference is for YOU WEAR IT WELL, so impressive at the Cheltenham Festival in the spring.

THYME HILL had a mixed campaign over fences last season but still managed to make his mark at Grade 1 level at Kempton on Boxing Day. The nine-year-old is a proven high-class performer over hurdles and he could be hard to beat on his return to action here. Dashel Drasher only found one too good in the Stayers' Hurdle at Cheltenham in March and is an obvious threat to the selection, while Ga Law is next best.

DASHEL DRASHER can make a successful return. He was nailed only late in the Stayers' Hurdle in March and his good record fresh suggests he'll be ready to roll. Thyme Hill, a former Stayers' Hurdle runner-up himself, boasts a similar profile and looks the danger first time back for an in-form stable.

Dual Grade 1 hurdle winner THYME HILL (nap) added a Grade 1 novice chase last December and has a generally solid reappearance record.

BRAVEMANSGAME won this race before an impressive victory in the King George last season and there is every chance he will repeat that success here. Paul Nicholls' eight-year-old was second in the Cheltenham Gold Cup later in the campaign and he sets a very high standard. When at his best, Ahoy Senor is capable of giving the selection plenty to think about and should not be discounted. Midnight River and Gentlemansgame are talented performers but they have plenty to find according to official ratings.

An intriguing renewal despite the small field with BRAVEMANSGAME and Ahoy Senor locking horns for a sixth time over the larger obstacles. Preference is for the former, who gave his yard a fifth success in this contest 12 months ago and Paul Nicholls' 8-y-o is strongly fancied to repeat the feat. Gentlemansgame has race fitness on his side and could profit should either of the top pair fluff their lines.

Last season's King George winner BRAVEMANSGAME made a winning reappearance in this race 12 months ago and is again the one to beat.

Windtothelightning enjoyed a profitable campaign last term, culminating in a good third at Cheltenham in April. She is likely to offer another bold bid, but raised 3lb in the ratings, she could be vulnerable to a better-treated rival such as ALVANIY. A rare runner for Willie Mullins at Wetherby, and off this opening handicap mark of 126, he will be difficult to hold out. Albert's Back is also worthy of respect.

WINDTOTHELIGHTNING was progressive last season and ran with credit when last seen at Cheltenham. That form has a solid look to it and she's worth chancing to make a successful return for all that Decorated looks open to further improvement. Alvaniy is also worthy of consideration.

Preference is for DECORATED, who returned from a break to make a winning handicap debut on heavy ground in March and can improve again.

Bali Body won comfortably off this mark at Sandown and should he return to the track in similar form, he would be tough to beat. That run was more than 700 days ago, though, whereas SNOWY EVENING ran arguably his best race to date when second on his fencing bow at Chepstow just last month and a 2lb rise in the ratings may not be enough to halt his progression. Not Sure heads the remainder.

SNOWY EVENING made a promising start to his chase career when second at Chepstow on his return 3 weeks ago and can go one place better with progress likely. Some Scope and Ernest Gray are a couple of interesting chasing debutants so are feared most.

Point winner SOME SCOPE is a very lightly raced 5yo who is open to improvement now chasing and earns the vote ahead of O'Connell.
Ths is the racecard key.
