28/1(-75%) | (8) Monaghan Boy 28/1, Below form when down the field in a handicap chase over 3m2f at Sedgefield most recent; effective up to 3m3f, acts on soft ground, but has a bit to prove on return. Record is only 1-19; 5lb out of the weights; opposed. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Saint Arvans was almost able to exploit a sliding handicap mark when second at Kelso and, despite a 1lb rise, he can launch another stern challenge. However, stepping up to 3m appeared likely to suit JUPITER DES BORDES for much of last season and now afforded just that, he could take the necessary step forward. The Big Breac struggled at Hexham when last seen in March, but he was otherwise progressive last term and is interesting now sent over fences.

Interesting chase debutant THE BIG BREAC is preferred, ahead of solid contenders Jupiter Des Bordes and Great Notions.

5/6(+63%) | (1) Get On George 5/6, Green, too much to do on promising hurdles debut when fourth beaten 4l in a novice at Carlisle latest; effective 2m4f, likely to want further, acts on S; more to come. Has shown promise in both starts and is a leading contender on the figures. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

7/2(+0%) | (5) Uptown Dandy 7/2, Ran to form when third, beaten 9 1/4l, in a 2m1f bumper at Market Rasen last time; trainer in good form; effective at 2m and handles heavy or good ground; this trip should suit now hurdling. 14/1(-40%) | (6) Warriors Destiny 14/1, Showed promise on debut under rules when beaten 5l in an Amateurs' bumper over 2m at Ffos Las; should appreciate this trip and acts on good ground; needs to improve to figure. Recent bumper effort for new yard suggests this step back up in trip will suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(8) (25/1 -257%)Sheezer Diva |
25/1(-257%) | (8) Sheezer Diva 25/1, Ran well to a point on debut when third, beaten 17l, in a 2m novice hurdle at Worcester; second run after wind surgery; effective at 2m and handles good ground; should improve with experience. 66/1(-65%) | (3) Rock Dj 66/1, Ran to a similar level as on debut when well beaten in a 2m novice hurdle at Ayr; likely to want further than 2m, so this longer trip should suit. Comfortably held in both attempts under rules. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

GET ON GEORGE confirmed the promise of his narrow bumper defeat on debut at Hexham when filling fourth place on his first start over hurdles at Carlisle. On that evidence, the five-year-old could be hard to beat in this company. Smart Decision is already a three-time winner over hurdles, but they were Junior NH contests last season and this will demand more from him. Uptown Dandy is the clear pick of the remainder.

The biggest players on hurdles form are GET ON GEORGE and Smart Decision, while Uptown Dandy is interesting.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(8) (10/3 +39%)Saligo Bay |
10/3(+39%) | (8) Saligo Bay 10/3, Improved under a slightly more positive ride, aided by a late faller, when landing a handicap by 1 1/2l off 108 here last time. Effective at 2m, acts on soft and good ground; capable off his new mark. Won over C&D a fortnight ago; this demands another step forward but he's clearly thriving. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (5/1 -11%)Marche D'aligre |
5/1(-11%) | (3) Marche D'aligre 5/1, Below form, may have found the ground a bit quick when finishing down the field in a handicap hurdle at Sandown most recently. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (12/1 -118%)Bust A Move |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

The progressive Saligo Bay has to be given the utmost respect after his C&D win two weeks ago, but a chance can be taken on MALYSTIC. Peter Niven's veteran has not been seen over hurdles since 2020, but has proven to be a quality chaser since then. He won at Kelso in September off a mark of 129 and that suggests that he can play a big role here off just 1lb higher. Bust A Move and Hara Kiri are others to consider.

The 4yo MARCHE D'ALIGRE returns from a break with trainer Jamie Snowden in excellent form and earns the vote.

(2) (5/4 +9%)Meetmebythesea |
5/4(+9%) | (2) Meetmebythesea 5/4, Too keen but improved up in trip on handicap debut when beaten 3/4l off 128 over 2m4f at Sandown last time; effective from 2m to 2m4f; acts on good to soft; has point experience and almost certainly more to offer now chasing. 3rd of 16 in the EBF Final in March; connections waste little time in sending him chasing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

11/4(+21%) | (5) Ruby Island 11/4, Improved to land a handicap by 7l off 118 over 2m1f at Ayr last time; trainer in form; effective from 2m to 2m4f; acts on soft and good; a progressive sort with more to come. Comfortable win at Ayr recently in her second chase and she's open to further improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (4/1 -20%)Push The Button |
4/1(-20%) | (1) Push The Button 4/1, Ran to form, appreciating the stiff track and drop in trip when winning a beginners' chase at Carlisle over 2m by 1 1/2l last time; effective from 2m to 2m6f; acts on soft and good; more to come over fences. Won on stable/chase debut at Carlisle last month and he's a solid candidate. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (6/1 +0%)Pleasington |
6/1(+0%) | (3) Pleasington 6/1, Outclassed and well beaten in the Kingsfurze Novice Hurdle (Grade 3) over 2m at Naas last time; effective at 2m; acts on heavy; brings potential to fences. Two-time novice hurdle winner on heavy ground; his brother won this race in 2023. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (25/1 -150%)Starcrossed Lover |
25/1(-150%) | (4) Starcrossed Lover 25/1, Below form under a big weight when second, beaten 21l in a novice hurdle over 2m at Haydock last time; effective at 2m; acts on soft and good to soft; could progress again now chasing. Chase debut; has potential off this opening mark if rediscovering last winter's promise. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Cases can be made for all of these, but none more so than MEETMEBYTHESEA. Ben Pauling's gelding won three times over hurdles as a novice and was only narrowly denied when last seen in the valuable EBF Final at Sandown in March. Recent Ayr winner Ruby Island could prove to be his main danger, despite a 7lb rise, with Pleasington completing the shortlist.

The 5yo MEETMEBYTHESEA was third in the EBF Final at Sandown last time and this point runner-up is the pick ahead of Ruby Island.

5/2(+44%) | (3) Smokeringinthedark 5/2, Improved on handicap debut when beaten 3l off a mark of 119 over 2m at Hexham last time; trainer in form; effective up to 2m4f, acts on good to soft, and holds a good chance. 9/2(+18%) | (9) Glen Road 9/2, Outpaced, needed the run and was unsuited by the drop in trip when beaten 3l off 106 over 2m4f here last time; effective at 2m4f, ideally wants 3m, acts on good to soft, and has more to come. Peak efforts on good or good to soft; player if it's another of his good days. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(8) (15/2 +46%)One Eye On Vegas |
15/2(+46%) | (8) One Eye On Vegas 15/2, Below form when down the field in a 3m handicap hurdle at Doncaster last time; effective around 2m4f, acts on good to soft ground, and may need this run. Three hurdle wins at about 2m4f in the mud, the latest last December; off since January. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (8/1 -100%)Rocheval |
8/1(-100%) | (4) Rocheval 8/1, Eased and something amiss when pulled up in a handicap hurdle at Kelso last time; effective between 2m and 2m4f, acts on soft ground, and worth ignoring that latest effort. Pulled up early when 6-4 at Kelso last week after 193 days off; reportedly lost his action. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (12/1 -9%)Imperial Merlin |
12/1(-9%) | (2) Imperial Merlin 12/1, Never travelled when well beaten in a 2m7f handicap hurdle at Bangor-on-Dee last time; effective at 3m, acts on any ground, and the cheekpieces are left off this time. 2nd when tried in cheekpieces in July; last of seven when favourite in them ten weeks ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (14/1 -56%)Bridge North |
14/1(-56%) | (5) Bridge North 14/1, Below form when comfortably held in a 2m7f handicap hurdle at Market Rasen last time; effective at 3m, acts on soft ground, but has a bit to find with the visor back on. Out of form before leaving Henry Daly for £6,000; has career-low mark for James Owen. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(7) (25/1 -14%)Jericoacoara |
25/1(-14%) | (7) Jericoacoara 25/1, Needed the run when down the field in a 2m4f handicap hurdle at Carlisle last time; effective at 2m, acts with cut in the ground, but has been inconsistent for the new yard. 1-10 in France where he was best in 2023; 0-4 in Britain and sliding in the weights. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (125/1 -346%)Rauzan |
125/1(-346%) | (1) Rauzan 125/1, Disappointing hurdles return when down the field in a 3m handicap hurdle at Listowel last time; effective between 2m and 2m4f, wants a sound surface, and has been in moderate form in both codes. Left Eoin Doyle for £11,000 last month; British debut off what seems pretty demanding mark. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

CARISMATIC SOLDIER had a subsequent scorer immediately behind him when chasing home a couple of previous winners at Warwick and starts off in handicaps on a fair mark, which he can take advantage of for the in-form Olly Murphy team. Smokeringinthedark made a pleasing enough handicap bow at Hexham back in the spring and should be able to build on that. Imperial Merlin's Bangor display was too bad to be true and he may be keeping on when others have cried enough.

Several others are of interest but the two best options may be CARISMATIC SOLDIER and Smokeringinthedark.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (15/8 -15%)Fresh Perspective |
15/8(-15%) | (2) Fresh Perspective 15/8, Green, mistakes, did it easily, promising hurdle debut from useful bumper performer when winning a novice hurdle at Fontwell over 2m2f by 8l last time; effective 2m on G; more to come over hurdles. Won by 8l on hurdle debut; could do with jumping better but he has leading claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Sold for £35,000 after winning an Irish point; betting may be informative on rules debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (7/1 -27%)Minstrel Knight |
7/1(-27%) | (4) Minstrel Knight 7/1, Ran to form when beaten 7 1/4l in Irish Cesarewitch over 2m1f at the Curragh last time; should be effective 2m-2m4f over hurdles, acts well on S; type to make a decent hurdler. Useful Flat stayer; may ideally require further than this over hurdles but still respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (14/1 -180%)Lirone Du Seuil |
14/1(-180%) | (3) Lirone Du Seuil 14/1, Runner-up beaten 3 1/2l in a 4yo hurdle over 2m2f at Fontainebleau only start; effective around 2m, act on very soft; joined a top yard. Runner-up on sole French hurdle start and subsequently acquired by top stable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(9) (18/1 +78%)Queen Roslyn |
18/1(+78%) | (9) Queen Roslyn 18/1, Raced a bit wide back up in trip but ran to form off a new mark when beaten 5l in a handicap at York last time; should stay 2m over hurdles but may find this tough. Three Flat handicap wins this year but at a modest level; up against it on hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(7) (33/1 -50%)Wahraan |
33/1(-50%) | (7) Wahraan 33/1, Too keen, probably flattered when second beaten 16l in the Phil Bull Trophy over 2m2f at Pontefract latest; this trip should be fine over hurdles; others more likely this time. Useful, four-time Flat winner but may be best watched in a warm race on hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(8) (40/1 -21%)Chattamento |
40/1(-21%) | (8) Chattamento 40/1, Improved to get off the mark when winning a novice hurdle at Exeter over 2m3f by 3/4l last time; cheekpieces on for the first time; effective from 2m to 2m3f on good ground and likely to have more to offer after a year off. Won mares' novice hurdle at Exeter last November but absent since and this looks tough. |

(6) (66/1 +34%)Parish Quiz |
66/1(+34%) | (6) Parish Quiz 66/1, Below bumper level when finishing down the field in a maiden hurdle over 2m4f at Hexham last time; effective around 2m, acts on soft ground and this drop in trip may suit. Won a point in March 2024 but he's yet to pose a serious threat under rules. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

Patrick Mullins is an interesting booking for Cueros, who made the best possible start to life with Harry Derham on his hurdling debut at Newcastle. That form may not amount to much, though, whereas FRESH PERSPECTIVE took in a Listed assignment in between landing a Uttoxeter bumper and making a winning timber bow at Fontwell. He seems quite a nice prospect for Jamie Snowden. Minstrel Knight brings smart Flat handicap form to the table, while Lirone Du Seuil has joined Dan Skelton since a Fontainebleau second back in February.

Jamie Snowden has a highly likeable prospect on his hands in FRESH PERSPECTIVE who is taken to make it 2-2 over hurdles.

13/8(+73%) | (6) Cerendipity 13/8, Ran to form when second beaten 4l in a handicap chase at Stratford last time; effective around 2m4f and handles good to soft ground; should improve for that pleasing return. Reappeared with solid second at Stratford and he may be able to build on that run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (15/8 +53%)Issam |
15/8(+53%) | (2) Issam 15/8, Travelled well but had too much to do down in trip, slow late jumps proved costly when beaten a neck off 130 over 1m7f at Sandown last time; effective 2m-2m4f, acts well on soft; chance if ready. Promising start to chase career early this year and reappears with yard among the winners. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (11/2 +0%)Primoz |
11/2(+0%) | (3) Primoz 11/2, Made mistakes but ran to form when 8l third in a handicap chase over 1m7f here last time; cheekpieces on for the first time; effective at 2m and handles soft and good ground; has more to offer. Went close at Kelso on reappearance; only third of four here since but not ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (7/1 -56%)Heltenham |
7/1(-56%) | (1) Heltenham 7/1, Took a step back in the right direction when 12l third in a handicap chase at Fontwell last time; effective around 2m4f and handles good to soft and good ground; could progress again. Step back in right direction at Fontwell and could be a contender now back down in grade. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(8) (12/1 +25%)Geryville |
12/1(+25%) | (8) Geryville 12/1, Outpaced, needed the run, and may have found the ground too quick when well held in a handicap chase here last time; effective 2m4f-3m and suited by some cut; inconsistent but should improve for reappearance. Inconsistent but this C&D brings out the best in him and he's capable of a bold show. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(7) (28/1 -12%)William Of York |
28/1(-12%) | (7) William Of York 28/1, Finished lame when pulled up in a handicap chase over 2m5f at Carlisle last time; effective around 2m4f and acts on heavy and soft ground; absence to overcome with cheekpieces left off this time. Won three in a row in the first part of 2024 but pulled up on his sole start since. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

CERENDIPITY may have bumped into a smart one when chasing home Be Aware at Stratford and meets nothing with that potential here. The eight-year-old generally performs well at this venue and that recent run gives him an edge over Issam, who came within a neck of making it two from two over fences at Sandown back in February. Primoz was disappointing here last month, but there will be plenty who keep faith with him. Heltenham is slipping back down the handicap, while Geryville beat the selection over C&D towards the beginning of the year.

Five-time hurdle winner ISSAM (nap) looked even better when switched to fences early this year and should have more to offer.
Ths is the racecard key.
