6/1(+8%) | (6) It's Maisy 6/1, Made mistakes and was a bit below form on ground quicker than ideal when fourth beaten 16l in a Newcastle handicap hurdle last time. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (18/1 -80%)Rioja Alta |
18/1(-80%) | (1) Rioja Alta 18/1, Below form when stepped up in grade off a revised mark, finishing well beaten in a 2m4f handicap hurdle at Hexham last time. Had been in good form beforehand; effective from 2 1/2m to 2 3/4m and still looks on a fair mark based on flat form. May have needed his reappearance run and could resume his progress at this new trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (11) (22/1 +21%)Dillarchie |
22/1(+21%) | (11) Dillarchie 22/1, Needed the run when comfortably held in a 2m7f handicap hurdle at Hexham last time. Effective at 3m and beyond but needs to prove her ability remains after a layoff. Well treated on old form but she's struggled in last three runs including on recent return. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

BUZZ ICECLEAR only won narrowly at Ayr earlier in the month but both the second and third have won impressively since. With that in mind, the son of Sea Moon is hard to oppose off a 5lb higher mark here. Streamsforth Lad was a close third at Southwell last time and is likely to be in the mix once again, while Piaff Bubbles and Rioja Alta complete the shortlist.

Top of the list is BUZZ ICECLEAR, who battled well when scoring on his handicap/seasonal debut at Ayr and is open to more progress.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (10/3 +49%)My Noble Lord |
10/3(+49%) | (7) My Noble Lord 10/3, Outpaced but rallied to run to form when beaten 2¼l off 113 over 2m1f at Doncaster last time; benefitted from first-time cheekpieces and returns from a long layoff; in the mix off lenient mark judged on hurdle form. 4/1(+60%) | (6) Wotter Trotter 4/1, Made too much use of the pace and needed the run when well beaten in a handicap chase over 2m1f at Worcester last time; effective at 2m and acts on soft and good to soft; consistent in spring and hurdles form franked; could leave chase debut form behind. Tailed off on chase/handicap debut but in top hands and could leave that run well behind. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

The unexposed SPADESTEP chased home a useful rival when filling second place on his fencing debut over 2m at Aintree last month. The six-year-old is entitled to improve for that experience and a mark of 116 may still underestimate him. The rest all have questions to answer right now, but Rock On Jet and My Noble Lord are arguably the pick of them.

This can go to SPADESTEP (nap), who made a promising chase debut when second at Aintree last month and that form reads well.

8/13(+82%) | (1) Anariza 8/13, Pulled up in the Mares' Novices' Hurdle (Listed) over 2m4f at Cheltenham last time; wears a hood for the first time. Effective at 2m and acts on soft and good ground. With spring form franked, she should be competitive down in grade. Runner-up at Kempton (2m, good, 2-1) in March; ran freely (PU) next time; returns in hood.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (5/2 +9%)Azahara Palace |
5/2(+9%) | (2) Azahara Palace 5/2, Looked a bit flattered when beaten 7 1/4l in the Beckford Stakes (Listed) over 1m6f at Bath last time, but had been in good form prior. Wears a hood for the first time and could outclass rivals on hurdle debut. 5-22 on Flat for H. Morrison, inc at Epsom (1m4f); since sold for 35,000gns; hurdles debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (12/1 +64%)Mad Mag |
12/1(+64%) | (4) Mad Mag 12/1, Had every chance but produced only a modest hurdle debut when comfortably held in a novice hurdle at Hexham last time. With the trainer in form, she may again find 2m on the sharp side. Weakening fifth on recent rules/hurdles debut at Hexham (2m; 40-1); may require more time.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (14/1 -250%)Moonlightinthepark |
14/1(-250%) | (5) Moonlightinthepark 14/1, Very promising effort when runner-up, beaten 5l in a 3m maiden at Stowlin on her only start. Hard to recommend here. Runner-up on point debut (3m) in May; interesting on first start for Greenall & Guerriero.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (20/1 -82%)Delta Blues Belle |
20/1(-82%) | (3) Delta Blues Belle 20/1, The yard won this race last year. Green and never involved when needing the run on hurdle debut, finishing down the field in a Newbury novice hurdle. A 3m point winner, she is likely to want further than 2m over hurdles. In rear throughout on recent Newbury hurdles debut (Class 2; 150-1); this more realistic.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

ANARIZA struggled in a Listed race at Cheltenham when last seen in April, but her previous placed efforts over hurdles suggest that she could be hard to beat at this level. Ufouria makes her debut for these connections and won a bumper in Ireland earlier in the year. With that in mind, she could be the main threat, although Moonlightinthepark and Azahara Palace merit consideration on their hurdling debuts.

Form suggests the pair to focus on are Anariza and Ufouria. However, should support arrive, AZAHARA PALACE is worth chancing.

Kept on well to score at Uttoxeter (2m4f; from 4lb lower) in Feb; seasonal reappearance.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

ONEWAYWEST ran out an easy winner in a conditional jockeys' event at Warwick last Wednesday and Ben Pauling's gelding has a strong opportunity to back that performance up off the same mark. Singapore Trip won here at the Charlie Hall meeting, despite making a mistake at the last, and is respected off 3lb higher. He's Bresilian and Motazzen are others capable of a decent showing.

Last week's easy Warwick winner ONEWAYWEST promises to be a tough nut to crack, escaping a penalty for that conditional jockeys' romp.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

PADDY O'MAHLER improved for the switch to fences when runner-up at Market Rasen earlier in the month and the seven-year-old is taken to build on that display with his stable currently in excellent form. Heeztheboy has enjoyed a fine start to the campaign with a wide-margin success at Hexham followed with a runner-up effort at Uttoxeter. The nine-year-old is respected, while Meetmeinthemorning and Visual Impact appeal most of the remainder.

Having given a well-handicapped winner a race at Market Rasen on his recent chase debut, PADDY O'MAHLER can go one better.

LAFFER CURVE showed promise on her racecourse bow when fourth at Ascot in February when in the care of Tom Weston and the four-year-old is entitled to improve for that experience now switched to Dan Skelton's yard. She's Delighted has plenty of experience from the pointing field and is likely to progress from her run at Uttoxeter last month. Joan's Choice placed on her debut at Fontwell and is another open to improvement.

Preference is for LAFFER CURVE, who was a promising fourth at Ascot on her sole start for Tom Weston and now starts out for Dan Skelton.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
