Beaten 24l (2m7f) and 21l (2m5f; again good to soft) in her races over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (11/1 +50%)Ballynorth |
11/1(+50%) | (3) Ballynorth 11/1, Fell mid-race in a novice hurdle at Warwick latest. Effective at 3m in points and well fancied on debut, so she should progress with further experience under rules. Has to step up on all her form but she's well bred and in top hands. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (200/1 -100%)Dalcassian Girl |
200/1(-100%) | (5) Dalcassian Girl 200/1, Had a modest debut when finishing down the field in a bumper at Chepstow most recently. Off a short break and placed in a point, but plenty more is needed under rules. Second of four in a point; trailed in a very remote last on bumper debut at Chepstow. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (11) (100/1 -300%)Wassailing Along |
100/1(-300%) | (11) Wassailing Along 100/1, The yard won this race last year, but she failed to build on her debut when comfortably held in a novice hurdle at Fontwell last time. Effective at 2m and acts with cut, although she needs another run to obtain a mark. Dropped out for a remote sixth at Fontwell and finished some way behind Bunny Bee. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

150/1(-500%) | (10) Svelte Silhouette 150/1, Unseated in a novice hurdle at Fontwell latest. Effective at 2m on good ground but needs more over hurdles to become competitive. Behind when unseating on hurdle debut at Fontwell; Bunny Bee was runner-up. |

9th (8) (150/1 +0%)Moonlight Stride |
150/1(+0%) | (8) Moonlight Stride 150/1, Pulled up in a maiden hurdle at Exeter latest. She is with a good yard but looks to need more time before showing her best under rules. Eighth of nine in a bumper and was 200-1 when pulled up in an Exeter maiden; lots to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (7) (250/1 -150%)Miss Jaffa Cake |
250/1(-150%) | (7) Miss Jaffa Cake 250/1, Again ran to a poor level when last of nine at Worcester latest. Has no worthwhile form to date, although a longer trip may suit. Failed to complete in two points and tailed off in two novice hurdles at about 2m1f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (66/1 -200%)Bunny Bee |
66/1(-200%) | (4) Bunny Bee 66/1, Made a promising debut when second, beaten 13l, in a novice hurdle at Fontwell latest. The trainer is in form and she is effective at 2m on soft ground, although she may do better over further in time. Questionable what she achieved when a well-beaten second at Fontwell. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Strong Run was highly tried in bumpers last season and broke her hurdling duck at the second attempt last month. The mare can improve to go close again, but she might struggle to contain COOLANNA. The daughter of Affinisea hit the woodwork in a couple of point-to-points before streaking clear on her Rules debut at Uttoxeter, a performance that suggests she might be useful. Katie's Melody can chase the pair home.

The penalised winners appeal most and COOLANNA is the one proven under these conditions. She looks a thorough stayer.

11/4(-22%) | (4) Atreides 11/4, Scored by 9l off an 8lb lower mark at Fontwell on his penultimate start but departed early at Wincanton latest. 9/1(+25%) | (1) Windsurfer 9/1, Ran to chase level despite interference when 18l third in a handicap chase at Lingfield on his most recent run. Trainer is in form and he is effective at 2m to 2m4f on good to soft and good, though he has yet to match his hurdle form over fences. 5/1(+17%) | (3) Carrigmoorna Rowan 5/1, Ran to form just tiring late on testing ground when beaten 4l off a 3lb higher mark at Leicester last time. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (11/2 -38%)The Blueberry One |
11/2(-38%) | (2) The Blueberry One 11/2, Made too much use of when finishing down the field in a handicap hurdle at Market Rasen on his latest start. Returning from a long layoff, he is effective at 2m4f on soft ground but needs to bounce back on his chase debut. Lightly raced gelding who was beaten only 2l in one of his handicaps over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (7/1 -40%)Thankyouandplease |
7/1(-40%) | (5) Thankyouandplease 7/1, Below form after clipping heels when tenth, beaten 46l off 103 last time, and is 2lb lower here. Effective around 2m on heavy and soft ground and may do better now returned to chasing. Running well over hurdles until last time; has a pointing background; handles heavy. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

ATREIDES didn't get far when attempting to complete a hat-trick over C&D on Boxing Day, in a race which saw Mutley Crew fill the runner-up spot. Both have been given a month off since and are the pair the focus on, but Neil Mulholland's charge can put that blemish behind him to regain the winning thread. The Blueberry One makes his fencing bow following a lengthy absence but must not be underestimated.

Only two completed when MUTLEY CREW went close here on Boxing Day but it was still a good run and she's fine on heavy ground.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (11/4 -22%)Aguellid |
11/4(-22%) | (1) Aguellid 11/4, Keen and with too much to do behind an all-the-way winner, but ran to form when second, beaten 3/4l, in a novice hurdle at Hereford last time. Effective at 2m-2m2f with cut and capable of better, likely in handicaps if ridden more positively. Pulled clear with his market rival when going down narrowly at Hereford. |

14/1(-211%) | (6) Galashiels 14/1, Needed the run on hurdle debut when comfortably held in a novice hurdle at Chepstow last time. Trainer is in form and, usually held up, he was effective at 12f on the Flat, suited by cut, and showed useful form in France, so likely has more to offer for this yard. 1m4f Listed winner in France but has seemingly regressed; made a quiet hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (10) (2/1 +56%)Mossy Fen Coolio |
2/1(+56%) | (10) Mossy Fen Coolio 2/1, Very promising debut when a 25l winner in a maiden point at Tallow on debut. Returning from a long layoff, he was effective at 3m in points and looks an interesting recruit to hurdles. Won his point by 25l so brings consideration potential to his rules career. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (5/1 +44%)Bright Legend |
5/1(+44%) | (3) Bright Legend 5/1, Keen, went clear and made too much use of when finishing a 15l third in a novice hurdle at Taunton most recently. Effective at 2m-2m4f but has yet to match Irish form for his new stable and looks vulnerable to an improver. Ability respected but will need to find something on his two runs for current yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

250/1(-525%) | (13) Tobi Kanobee 250/1, Improved when comfortably held in a maiden hurdle here last time. Effective around 2m with cut and looks the type to do better when handicapping. Poor pointer; ran okay to be fifth here two weeks ago (soft) but no more than that. |

100/1(-203%) | (7) Harbour Light 100/1, Improved for debut experience but was not given a hard time when well beaten in a novice hurdle at Hereford last time. Effective at 2m and may need a stiffer track and longer trip over hurdles. Doesn't look good enough to win a maiden and was well behind Aguellid at Hereford. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (14) (150/1 -436%)Viva Vincente |
150/1(-436%) | (14) Viva Vincente 150/1, Showed minor promise on debut when well beaten in a bumper at Chepstow on his only start. Off a short break and should have more to come once upped in trip. At 10-1 he made little impression in a Chepstow bumper (good to soft). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (8) (150/1 -200%)Lord Chamberlain |
150/1(-200%) | (8) Lord Chamberlain 150/1, Too keen and below form when fourth, beaten 8 1/2l, in a handicap at Southwell last time. Absent for a very lengthy period, now tries hurdling with a tongue-tie for the first time and is difficult to fancy. 150/1(-50%) | (15) Galactic Princess 150/1, A bit better than the result when tried in a hood and comfortably held in a maiden hurdle at Taunton last time. Looks a type to do better when handicapping. Uncompetitive on two visits to Taunton, latterly in a hood. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (11) (150/1 -50%)Richforadaay |
150/1(-50%) | (11) Richforadaay 150/1, A moderate debut under rules when finishing down the field in a maiden hurdle here last time. Effective at 3m in points but others are preferred. Little substance to his form in British points and was out the back in a maiden here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (12) (100/1 -25%)Stone Cold |
100/1(-25%) | (12) Stone Cold 100/1, Outpaced and looked in need of a stiffer test when comfortably held in a novice hurdle at Chepstow last time. May need further than 2m over hurdles. Mild promse in Ireland and never counted on stable/hurdle debut at Chepstow when 100-1. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
15th (4) (250/1 -67%)Forest Hills |

250/1(-213%) | (16) Mistress Fox 250/1, Keen and stopped quickly when well beaten in a novice hurdle at Fontwell last time. Has shown nothing in bumpers or over hurdles and has it all to prove. Has yet to show any signs of winning potential and can be readily dismissed. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Overexuberance has hindered AGUELLID's finishing effort so far, though it hasn't stopped him from running well. This big-field scenario could suit him perfectly given a solid pace and that makes him of greater appeal than Pourquoi Pas Papa, who receives 12lb from the selection whilst being rated 2lb higher. Bright Legend has yet to fire since arriving from Ireland but he's shown enough to suggest a race of this nature is within his compass.

There's no depth to this maiden. POURQUOI PAS PAPA has been beaten by promising horses in his two British races.

11/1(-29%) | (12) Watchoutitscookie 11/1, Finished below form when down the field in a handicap chase at Taunton last time. 11/1(-10%) | (4) Ourbrowneyedgirl 11/1, Put in a poor effort when well beaten in a maiden hurdle at Exeter last time. Effective at around 2m and acts with cut, while longer trips could suit now she goes handicapping. Still unexposed but she needs a transformation upped in trip on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (12/1 -9%)Badentaggart |
12/1(-9%) | (6) Badentaggart 12/1, Was outpaced and may have found the ground a bit quick when comfortably held in a novice hurdle at Taunton last time. 15/2(+38%) | (10) Inchagoill Lady 15/2, Ran a bit below form when comfortably held in a handicap chase at Taunton last time. Won at Fontwell (2m3f) in his last two starts and he's open to more progress; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (13) (6/1 +57%)Gorcombe And Wise |

|PU| (11) (14/1 0%)Jour D'orage |
14/1(0%) | (11) Jour D'orage 14/1, Made mistakes, raced too keenly when stepped up in trip and did not get home when well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Fontwell last time. Improvement is required. Unexposed 6yo but he's not achieved much and has been tailed off in both his handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (40/1 -82%)Ribba Hill |
40/1(-82%) | (1) Ribba Hill 40/1, Found little when stepped up in trip and did not stay when finishing down the field in a handicap hurdle at Taunton last time. Effective at 2m to 2m3f on good ground but needs more. Early days over hurdles but he needs improvement back in trip and he's untried on heavy. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

BRADMAN has turned a corner on his last couple of starts, with a pair of victories at Fontwell. The five-year-old was a surprise winner on Boxing Day, but proved that effort to be no fluke last time and a 6lb rise might not be enough to stop him from landing the hat-trick. Broomfield Gale benefited from a sounder surface when scoring at Taunton so testing conditions are a concern. With that in mind, Inchagoill Lady might prove to be the biggest threat to the selection.

Top of the list is the progressive BRADMAN (nap) who completed a double in smooth style at Fontwell 18 days ago.

5/2(+0%) | (4) Jupiter Allen 5/2, Ran to form 6l third in a handicap chase here most recent run; enjoys making it; effective 3m-3m6f, acts with cut; capable off this mark. Could have done with slower ground when a 6l third over C&D on Boxing Day. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (5/2 +64%)Largy Poet |
5/2(+64%) | (1) Largy Poet 5/2, Below form when back hurdling and comfortably held in a handicap here last time. Effective over 3m–3m2f with cut in the ground, but a bounce back effort is required. Modest the last twice (hurdling latest) but an assured stayer who will handle conditions. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (7/2 +46%)My Silver Lining |
7/2(+46%) | (6) My Silver Lining 7/2, All but fell early when pulled up in a handicap chase at Lingfield latest; suited by 3m+, acts on any; not quite the force of old but has dropped below last winning mark. In form until her excusable defeat at Lingfield; also very effective in the mud. |

|PU| (3) (18/1 -260%)Take Your Time |
18/1(-260%) | (3) Take Your Time 18/1, Pulled up in a handicap chase at Ffos Las on his latest start and returns from a long layoff. Effective over 3m–3m2f with cut, but has plenty to prove. Now an 11yo so perhaps asking a bit much for him to rediscover his peak form. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

COLLECTORS ITEM struggled to land a blow on Chepstow ground faster than ideal in the Welsh National and he is better judged on his second there the time before. The nine-year-old boasts winning form here, having taken the Somerset National last January, and this kind of test should bring out the very best in him. My Silver Lining stays forever and is worth another chance after pulling up following a mistake at Lingfield last week. Others to consider are Jupiter Allen and Take Your Time.

The mare MY SILVER LINING was running into form again before her unfortunate incident in the Surrey National.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (4/1 +0%)Thunder Rock |
4/1(+0%) | (1) Thunder Rock 4/1, Needed the run when pulled up in a handicap hurdle at Newbury last time. The trainer is in form and he comes here off a short break. Effective over 2m4f-3m on soft and good, he likes small fields and looks a useful recruit to these races. Useful chaser at his peak; has lost his way over hurdles; makes hunter chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (6/4 +63%)Illico De Cotte |
6/4(+63%) | (2) Illico De Cotte 6/4, The yard won this race last year with Mr Glass. He made a fair return when second, beaten 9l, in a mixed open point at Dunsmore last time. Off a short break, he is effective at 3m-3m2f on soft and good and is capable in this. Ex-Skelton handicapper; beaten in two points for current yard and he'll need more here. |

11/4(+8%) | (3) Mr Glass 11/4, Won this race last year when trained by Will Biddick. He made mistakes and ran below form when pulled up in a hunter chase at Leicester last time. Returning from a long layoff, he is effective around 3m with cut and has a fair chance if ready to roll. Back with Paul Nicholls; won this last year for Will Biddick; able fresh and goes on heavy. |

|PU| (5) (12/1 +0%)Go Sacre Go |
12/1(+0%) | (5) Go Sacre Go 12/1, Ran to form when winning a restricted point at Badbury Rings by 10l last time. He comes here off a short break and is effective at 3m-3m2f on heavy and good. He was runner-up in this race 12 months ago. A repeat of last year's run in this race (runner-up) should see him competitive. |

|PU| (6) (25/1 -56%)Minella Jab |
25/1(-56%) | (6) Minella Jab 25/1, Back to form when winning a point at Wadebridge by 3/4l last time. He is effective at 3m-3m2f on soft and good. This is his first run under rules since 2024 and he can go well. 3-9 in points but 0-3 in hunter chases and has his work cut out in this company. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Thunder Rock switches to the hunter chase sphere in a bid to regain some confidence having lost his way over hurdles. Despite winning twice in Listed company over fences at his best, his jumping was never the most assured and last year's winner MR GLASS gets the vote. The 10-year-old relished similar conditions 12 months ago and has every chance of making it back-to-back victories. Illico De Cotte and Pyleigh Court complete the shortlist.

A trappy hunter chase. The 10yo MR GLASS may repeat his win in this last year which was on similar ground.

1st (10) (6/1 -118%)Western Charm |
6/1(-118%) | (10) Western Charm 6/1, Showed some promise on debut when well beaten in a mares' bumper at Plumpton. Should improve for that experience and comes from a yard that does well in these races. Easy to back at 15-2 when sixth at Plumpton, finishing behind Secret Des Lune. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (15/8 +6%)Secret Des Lune |
15/8(+6%) | (7) Secret Des Lune 15/8, Made a promising debut when runner-up, beaten 2l, in a mares' bumper at Plumpton. Effective at 2m2f on good to soft ground and improvement is likely. Ran well for a newcomer when second at Plumpton and that form sets the standard. |

3rd (9) (5/1 -11%)That Is Blue |
5/1(-11%) | (9) That Is Blue 5/1, Blue Bresil mare and a half-sister to Triple Crown Ted, who was useful over 16f. The trainer is in form and capable of winning bumpers with this type. Half-sister to 2m hurdle winner Triple Crown Ted; trainer has been having bumper winners. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (10/1 -82%)Sparkling Water |
10/1(-82%) | (8) Sparkling Water 10/1, Again failed to complete in a maiden point at Stowlin last time. Wears a hood on her rules debut after joining a top Flat yard and is capable of better, with market moves worth noting. Three non-completions in points and wasn't competitive when twice departing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (13/8 +64%)Midnight Doyen |
13/8(+64%) | (3) Midnight Doyen 13/8, Confirmed her debut promise when finishing 11l third in a bumper at Warwick last time. Proven at 2m on good to soft ground and looks to have a chance in this. Fair efforts at Chepstow and Warwick; experience will come in useful on this ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (33/1 -50%)Hotter Than Dubai |
33/1(-50%) | (2) Hotter Than Dubai 33/1, Dartmouth mare and a half-sister to Tile Tapper, who was useful up to 3m. The yard is capable of readying one first time, but she is probably best watched on debut. Half-sister to useful chaser Tile Tapper; yard 1-25 in bumpers recent seasons. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (125/1 -150%)Dreamfyre Dancer |
125/1(-150%) | (1) Dreamfyre Dancer 125/1, Again ran to a poor level when finishing down the field in a bumper at Exeter on her most recent start. Returns from a short break and has plenty to prove on what has been shown so far. Poor claims on what she showed in two bumpers for her previous yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (80/1 -100%)Pink Perjury |
80/1(-100%) | (4) Pink Perjury 80/1, Schiaparelli mare and a sister to Someone You Love, who was poor over 16f. Faces a tough enough task on debut, although this is only a modest race. Third foal; dam well beaten in bumper/2m-2m6f hurdles; likely best watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (5) (66/1 +67%)Rob's Spirit |
66/1(+67%) | (5) Rob's Spirit 66/1, Outpaced and well beaten on her only start in a bumper at Chepstow. Returns from a short break and is likely to need more time based on that modest debut. 200-1 and tailed off in a soft-ground bumper at Chepstow in November. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (6) (100/1 -300%)Saffron Belle |
100/1(-300%) | (6) Saffron Belle 100/1, Sans Frontieres mare and a half-sister to Cornish Saffron, who was poor over 16f. Makes little appeal on debut judged on pedigree and stable expectations. Stable not a noted source of bumper winners, 1-47 the last five seasons. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

SECRET DES LUNE made a promising start to her career when runner-up at Plumpton and, in a contest that doesn't appear to have much depth on paper, Ben Clarke's mare has a fine opportunity to go one better. Midnight Doyen finished third behind a useful type of Dan Skelton's at Warwick on New Year's Eve. She enters calculations, while any market support for Sparkling Water would be noteworthy.

This doesn't look a strong bumper. SECRET DES LUNE ran perfectly well for a debutante at Plumpton.
Ths is the racecard key.
