1st (1) (4/6 +81%)Fasol |
4/6(+81%) | (1) Fasol 4/6, Yard won this last year; ran to form when beaten 8l in a 2m handicap hurdle at Ascot last time; effective at 2m and handles good to soft or good ground; consistent, with his mark about right. Fifth in a handicap last week; firmly frustrating but still a major player in this company. |

2nd (5) (15/8 -134%)Miss Altea Blue |
15/8(-134%) | (5) Miss Altea Blue 15/8, From a yard that won this last year; ran to form when beaten 10l in a 2m1f handicap hurdle at Cheltenham last time, possibly preferring some give in the ground; in good form prior and the speed and form selection for local yard with excellent record here. Ex-French and 1-8 over hurdles; had wind op and trainer reckons there's more to come. |

3rd (2) (8/1 -60%)Fight My Fire |
8/1(-60%) | (2) Fight My Fire 8/1, Produced a very promising effort when winning a 2m2f maiden hurdle at Fontwell by 4 1/2l last time; effective at 2m and acts on good to soft ground; needs more to defy a penalty. Carries a penalty for his recent 100-1 maiden win at Fontwell; has more on his plate here. |

4th (4) (20/1 -233%)Marhaba The Champ |
20/1(-233%) | (4) Marhaba The Champ 20/1, Travelled well and was out-battled late when second, beaten 14l, in a 2m1f maiden hurdle at Newcastle last time; effective at 2m and suited by fast ground; more to come judged on useful Flat form. Once useful on the Flat but comfortably held on Flat and hurdling for his current outfit. |

|U| (6) (125/1 -150%)Western Ginny |
125/1(-150%) | (6) Western Ginny 125/1, 9,000 euros Westerner filly; half-sister to Generous Day, who was useful over 20f. Bred to have a future but would be a surprise winner first time out. |

|U| (3) (200/1 -150%)Hopjes |
200/1(-150%) | (3) Hopjes 200/1, Far too free when stepped up in trip and well beaten in a 12f novice at Ascot last time; difficult to fancy here. Minor bumper form and a similar story in 1m2f/1m4f novices on the Flat; looks outclassed. |

Paul Nicholls trained the first three winners on this card 12 months ago, five on the day in total, and he should enjoy another profitable afternoon. Fasol and MISS ALTEA BLUE are the ones to focus on, both trained by Nicholls, and the latter edges it on the basis that she's a C&D winner having her first start since undergoing wind surgery. Add to that Harry Cobden takes the ride and she's expected to get the better of Taunton scorer Fasol. Fight My Fire might be the one for third.

Miss Altea Blue might be flattered by her BHA mark and preference is for stablemate FASOL who could be the fitter of the two.

A five-time winner over fences and back over jumps following a couple of mediocre efforts on the level this summer, ABINGWORTH makes plenty of appeal on his return from a break with Harry Cobden booked. It is possible that James Owen could eke out more improvement from the seven-year-old and he's a bit of a C&D specialist (2-3). Nickelforce is race-fit and arrives in good heart so would be no surprise winner, while Bourbali has to enter the equation as well.

Everything looks right for BOURBALI to run well, especially after the form of his comeback run was franked last weekend.

JUBILEE ALPHA is smart and can give these rivals weight and a beating on her seasonal/handicap debut. Paul Nicholls' charge finished second in the Grade 2 mares' bumper at the Grand National meeting a couple of seasons ago and was good enough to win twice in Listed company over hurdles last term. There should be more to come and she can land this prize en route to stepping back up in class. Sweet Caryline is progressive enough to be of interest, despite running from 4lb out of the handicap. Others to note include Bethpage and Porter In The Park.

The class act in the line-up is JUBILEE APLHA, who was a smart novice last season and has scope to progress again this term.

Despite being turned over at very short odds on his first attempt over fences at Newton Abbot, it will be disappointing if BLUEKING D'OROUX isn't able to capitalise on that experience. A smart hurdler who won a Grade 2 at Sandown in April, he is expected to be sharper with that recent run under his belt in a bid to give Paul Nicholls his 12th success in the event. Cobra Queen has improved with each chase start and made light work of a Roscommon handicap. She is respected along with recent wide-margin Newton Abbot winner Breaking Cover.

The best of these over hurdles and highly likely to step up plenty on his first run over fences, BLUEKING D'OROUX appeals most.

RUBAUD made it a trio of victories in a Listed contest at Kempton last month and bids to do the same here. With opposition very thin on the ground, it looks to be a penalty kick for the seven-year-old, who should give his connections plenty more fun over the coming season. Hamlet's Night has shown a fine aptitude for hurdling and gave an odds-on favourite a fright at Cheltenham. He looks the most likely to chase home the selection, with Tax For Max likely to get the better of Frere d'Armes in the battle for third.

On such favourable terms, this is RUBAUD's to lose. This looks weaker than the two previous renewals he won.

Threeunderthrufive, Scarface and last year's third Gustavian are useful stayers resuming from breaks after wind surgery and the betting should be informative. Given Paul Nicholls' successful association with this race, Threeunderthrufive looks the pick of that trio. However, it's hard to overlook that ART OF DIPLOMACY has vastly improved and although still classed as a novice, the nine-year-old can gain a sixth career win over fences by atoning for a final-fence fall when he had the race at his mercy at Chepstow.

If ridden more positively then when a remote third last year, GUSTAVIAN (nap) could take some reeling in off his feather weight.

Paul Nicholls has won this three times since 2018 and has another potential live-wire on his hands in the form of KILNEW SUPREME. Having kept on well for a promising second-placed finish on his solitary run in a point-to-point, this could be a good Rules starting point for this 110,000-pound purchase. Joe Tizzard's pair Baile An Or and No Way Jay warrant close inspection, while Miracles Do Happen has bumper experience and cannot be ruled out.

The Nicholls runner KILNEW SUPREME was recruited for a six-figure sum after finishing second in an Irish point.
