COUP DE FORCE was returning from a 202-day break when she finished a commendable third over this course and distance 12 days ago and, off the same mark, the Stuart Kittow-trained mare rates a key player. Crazy Luck has previous form that ties in with the selection and will be a big threat, despite running off 5lb higher than for her Nottingham success under Oliver Searle a fortnight ago. On Edge, Whenthedealinsdone and Antiphon all hold solid place claims too.

Preference is for CRAZY LUCK, who got back on the scoreboard under this pilot at Nottingham a fortnight ago and remains well treated on old form. Coup de Force and Whenthedealinsdone head the list of dangers.

On Edge looks sure to go well again but CRAZY LUCK is just preferred after ending a losing run at Nottingham.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

AFENTIKO ran encouragingly when chasing home an expensive Godolphin recruit on debut at Lingfield and shades the vote today, given he is sure to be much wiser for the experience. Arabian Cobra, the only other runner with a previous run, never really got going in the Lily Agnes at Chester but may do better without having to deal with racing on a camber this time. Newcomers Breakout Star and Manila Thriller appeal on paper and warrant betting checks.

This can go to AFENTIKO, who should have learnt plenty from last week's encouraging Lingfield debut. The chief threat is likely to come from one of the newcomers, with Breakout Star and Manila Thriller making most appeal on pedigree.

Afentiko sets the standard and can do better but ARABIAN COBRA can take a marked step forward from his Chester debut.

EZRA CEE showed promise in three starts as a juvenile and he is the highest rated of those with an official mark. Having been gelded and switched yards since he was last seen, the selection starts his campaign with a virtual clean slate and his previous experience should be a telling factor. Ethandun has a tad more experience, though, and is a potential improver now tried with cheekpieces, while Accrual is bred for speed and appeals most from the newcomers.

EZRA CEE looks the safest option in a race which makes limited appeal from a betting perspective. Arkhalia Flynn and Ethandun are the obvious dangers.

This can go to EZRA CEE who showed enough in three starts last autumn to suggest he should be hard to beat if in the same form.
Class & Speed Card
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

TEES SPIRIT made a winning reappearance at Newmarket and ran another fine race in a competitive sprint at York last week. He looks worth another chance and can confirm earlier running with Navello. The latter's stablemate Thunder Moor should go well, though he has a bit to prove off his current mark, while Desperate Hero scored at Goodwood recently but would ideally prefer softer going and Jumbeau is upped in class.

NAVELLO has returned from a break in top form, backing up his reappearance success on the all-weather with a creditable effort at Newmarket where he put in good late work from well off the pace to finish second to Tees Spirit. He gets the nod ahead of Jumbeau, who may well benefit from the fitting of cheekpieces and should have come on for her recent spin at Nottingham. Intervention will be a threat if on-song.

Navello should be finishing off well but DESPERATE HERO can continue his ascent of the handicapping ladder.
Class & Speed Card
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

The novice winners Tarjeeh and Al Anoud go handicapping for the first time on their return to action and both should be noted for any significant support in the betting. However, TONY MONTANA looked an improved horse when scoring at Chester on his seasonal debut and a 4lb rise may not be enough to prevent another bold bid from Michael Bell's charge. Wisper ran well at Brighton but this is tougher, while Island Star has been gelded since finishing third at Newmarket at the end of last year.

TARJEEH clearly hasn't been the easiest to train but he evidently possesses plenty of ability, taking his career record to 2 wins from 3 starts when successful at Wolverhampton in October. Open to further progress now handicapping, he gets the vote to make light of another absence. Al Anoud is another likely improver on return/handicap debut and is feared, with Island Star and Tony Montana completing the shortlist.

Richard Hannon's MORCAR ran well on his recent seasonal debut, and that form has been very well advertised since.

Compton Bay was narrowly beaten on the all-weather at Lingfield last month but THRILLING DREAM is less exposed. Ed Dunlop's charge made a winning handicap debut when upped to 1m2f at Bath and this longer trip is expected to bring further progress. Goodwood third Al Khawaneej River may well get involved dropping down a grade for this, while Yarborough posted a better effort when runner-up at Brighton and is worth a second glance.

THRILLING DREAM improved a chunk to make a winning handicap debut at Bath 10 days ago, the way he shaped then suggesting this even longer trip will be within range, and he earns the vote to follow up, possibly at the chief expense of Al Khawaneej River and Yarborough. Post Mistress and White Coco are a couple of nicely-bred fillies who may do better now their stamina is tested further in handicaps.

Lots with chances but Ed Dunlop's THRILLING DREAM (nap) still looks ahead of his mark despite a 4lb rise for his Bath success.

Calm Waters races on a faster surface than when successful over track and trip recently, and it could be the turn of GREAT ACCLAIM in this. The latter caught the eye finishing strongly for third in similar company here last time and Georgia Dobie's 3lb allowance helps his cause on this occasion. Treasure Storm will be sharper for a recent reappearance and it would be no surprise to see a better effort from her.

CALM WATERS has improved switched to handicaps for new connections this season, runner-up over C&D on return last month prior to going one better back here 19 days ago. She looks capable of going in again off a 4 lb higher mark. With Amancio due to run at Haydock on Friday, Great Acclaim and Delicacy rate the main dangers.

Rod Millman's CALM WATERS has really kicked on since switched to handicaps and can defy a 4lb rise to follow up her recent C&D win.
Ths is the racecard key.
