|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (9/2 +44%)Bomb Squad |
9/2(+44%) | (5) Bomb Squad 9/2, Ran to form beaten 1 1/4l off a 1lb higher mark at Southwell last time; trainer in form; effective at 6/7f, acts on AW; only just above last win mark. String of good efforts since September and likely to be in the thick of it once again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

10/11(+52%) | (2) How's The Guvnor 10/11, Improved again, strong at finish down in trip landing a handicap by 1 1/4l off a 3lb lower mark here last time; effective 6-8f, acts on AW; penalty asks more again. Chasing hat-trick and only 3lb higher than for last week's ready C&D win; the one to beat. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (5/1 -67%)Secret Road |
5/1(-67%) | (4) Secret Road 5/1, Not best of runs down in trip beaten 1 1/2l off this mark at Lingfield last time; effective 6-8f, acts on S, G and AW; capable off this mark. Had a productive January; poorly positioned when third last time; high on the list. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (22/1 -38%)Romanovich |
22/1(-38%) | (6) Romanovich 22/1, Did not stay when stepped up in trip and was comfortably held in a handicap here last time. Effective over 7/8f and returns to a more suitable distance. Recent AW efforts don't point to him being the answer today. |

33/1(-106%) | (8) Cloch Nua 33/1, Never involved after a slow start when beaten 9 1/4l in a handicap at Southwell last time. Effective over 7/8f, but a bounce back is required. Four wins in early 2025; penultimate start offered hope of a revival; slowly away latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (40/1 -21%)Ten Club |
40/1(-21%) | (3) Ten Club 40/1, Never involved after a slow start when 11th, beaten 10l off 60 last time, and is 1lb lower here. Effective over 6/7f, but has lost form. Struggled in three runs since a Lingfield win (7f) in November; others look safer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) (28/1 -100%)Roman Emperor |
28/1(-100%) | (9) Roman Emperor 28/1, Again ran below form when beaten 5l in a handicap at Lingfield last time. Effective at 6/7f and is capable off this mark if bouncing back. Second at Lingfield in December but less good twice since; others come here in better form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (7) (33/1 -136%)Havana Club |
33/1(-136%) | (7) Havana Club 33/1, Found little and ran below form when ninth, beaten 12l off 57 last time, and is 1lb lower here. Suited by 7/8f, but a bounce back is needed. Smooth C&D win in December was followed by two lesser efforts; needs a return to his best. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Having secured a 16th career victory when making all over C&D last week, Harbour Vision merits respect. However, the veteran may have more difficulty dominating this field, with the hat-trick seeking HOW'S THE GUVNOR a more solid proposition. Jennie Candlish's inmate is only 3lb higher than for his ready triumph over track and trip and he looks a step ahead of the assessor. Secret Road is the pick of the remainder.

Secret Road and Bomb Squad are solid but HOW'S THE GUVNOR is in the groove at present and can complete a quick hat-trick.

8/1(-100%) | (3) Many A Star 8/1, Ran to form beaten 2 1/4l off a 1lb higher mark here last time; effective at 6f, acts on S, GF and AW; veteran capable of going well. On a winning mark and conditions suit; promising return to action five weeks ago; chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (4/1 +33%)Dyrholaey |
4/1(+33%) | (4) Dyrholaey 4/1, Again below form when beaten 7 1/4l in a handicap at Lingfield last time. Effective at 5f and 6f on this surface, but a bounce back is needed. Not at his best on last two starts but might not face much pace pressure this time; chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (11/1 -10%)Cajetan |
11/1(-10%) | (5) Cajetan 11/1, Was outpaced and below form when finishing down the field in a handicap at Newbury most recently. Usually held up and effective at 6f on this surface, now back down to his last winning mark. Well handicapped on best form; new yard likely to find the key to him at some point. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (2/1 +20%)Betsen |
2/1(+20%) | (2) Betsen 2/1, Ran to form fourth beaten 2 1/4l off 86 last time, same mark here; top course trainer; effective 5/6f, acts on S, G and AW; capable of better for new yard. Won at Southwell on stable debut; hamstrung by slow start latest; remains of interest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

9/2(-64%) | (1) Coachello 9/2, Was too keen and a bit below form when beaten 5l in a handicap at Newcastle last time. Effective at 6f and capable off this mark if settling better. Conditions suit and he should have a big run in him dropping into Class 4 company. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (9/2 +63%)Powdering |
9/2(+63%) | (6) Powdering 9/2, Didn't seem to handle conditions when comfortably held in a handicap at Pontefract last time. Had been in good form prior, the trainer is in form, and she is effective at 6f and 7f on this surface. Absent since poor run on slow ground in October; not ruled out under suitable conditions. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (16/1 -113%)No Return |
16/1(-113%) | (7) No Return 16/1, Was too keen and didn't get home when beaten 3l off a 1lb higher mark at Kempton last time. Effective at 6f on this surface and, although inconsistent, is capable. Two fair runs last month; back to his last winning mark; one to consider. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Although unable to land a blow when fourth as favourite at Newcastle, there is a sneaking suspicion that Betsen can score off his current rating. However, the five-year-old needs a strong pace to aim at and it may be worth chancing likely pacesetter DYRHOLAEY. Archie Watson's charge might get an easy time out in front and could outrun his odds. Coachello was a place behind Betsen last time and is a feasible alternative.

In a trappy event it might be worth chancing CAJETAN on his stable debut. Betsen and Coachello are feared most.

1st (3) (4/7 +58%)Sparksmith |
4/7(+58%) | (3) Sparksmith 4/7, Had every chance and improved from his debut when second, beaten a short-head, in a maiden at Chelmsford last time. Effective over 6f and has probably reached his level. Two promising efforts this winter, beaten a short head latest; leading claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (7/2 -40%)Lovethiswayagain |
7/2(-40%) | (5) Lovethiswayagain 7/2, Ran to form when second, beaten 2 1/4l, in a novice at Lingfield last time. Effective over 6/7f and consistent in her efforts, giving her solid claims again. Runner-up in two of her five starts; should be in the thick of it once again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (4/1 -129%)Harlequin Bay |
4/1(-129%) | (2) Harlequin Bay 4/1, Ran to form when second, beaten 1 1/4l, in a maiden at Newcastle last time after stepping up in trip. Effective at 5/6f and appears to have reached his level, but is an obvious chance in this. Runner-up in sprint maidens at Newcastle on last two starts; should be involved again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (28/1 -12%)Nautical Sky |
28/1(-12%) | (6) Nautical Sky 28/1, Got detached early when beaten 5 1/4l in a maiden at Chelmsford on debut. There is plenty of speed in the pedigree and she should have learned plenty from that first run. Last of nine on last month's Chelmsford debut (6f); may do better over longer trips. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (50/1 +0%)Follow My Heart |
50/1(+0%) | (7) Follow My Heart 50/1, Lacked a finishing kick when well beaten in a maiden at Kempton on her only start. Bred to sprint, she looks a workmanlike sort with plenty to prove after a modest debut. Some promise but ultimately well held on recent Kempton debut (7f); longer-term prospect. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (66/1 -65%)Analeesa |
66/1(-65%) | (4) Analeesa 66/1, Outpaced and outclassed when comfortably held in a novice at Lingfield last time. The trainer is in form, but she looks a workmanlike sort, appears moderate, and more a type for handicaps. Finished last in both starts, including when well behind Lovethiswayagain ten days ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (150/1 -275%)Lucky Sevens |
150/1(-275%) | (1) Lucky Sevens 150/1, Dropped away tamely when fourth, beaten 15l, in a novice here last time when stepped up in trip. Shows speed on the sire's side and more stamina on the dam's side, but has achieved little so far. Well beaten in a 6f maiden and a 7f novice here this year; minor handicaps beckon. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Sparksmith built on his opening Lingfield third when just denied at Chelmsford and debuting on Tapeta shouldn't prevent another good showing. Lovethiswayagain returned from a 182-day break to fill the runner-up spot at the Surrey venue recently and isn't taken lightly. However, HARLEQUIN BAY had a subsequent winner who is now rated 77 behind him when finding only one too good at Newcastle and Richard Fahey's colt shades the verdict.

Harlequin Bay has been threatening but SPARKSMITH went desperately close last time and this could be his day.

1st (4) (10/1 +17%)Word Of Mouth |
10/1(+17%) | (4) Word Of Mouth 10/1, A step back in the right direction when 7l third in a handicap here on her most recent run. Effective over 8-11f and has a chance on that effort. 0-9 but has shown promise and is on a lowly mark; new trip needs to revive her fortunes. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (4/1 +67%)One Cool Dreamer |
4/1(+67%) | (2) One Cool Dreamer 4/1, A bit below form back on the Flat when beaten 6 1/4l in a handicap at Kempton last time. Effective over 12-16f but needs to bounce back. Not at his best latest but dangerous mark on 2025 best; Rossa Ryan a positive booking. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (5/1 -82%)Skycutter |
5/1(-82%) | (5) Skycutter 5/1, Ran to form when beaten 3 1/2l off a 1lb higher mark at Southwell last time. Enjoys making it, is effective up to 16f, but can be inconsistent. Better run when heavily backed at Southwell 17 days ago (1m4f); should remain competitive. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (10) (9/1 +10%)Billy Bathgate |
9/1(+10%) | (10) Billy Bathgate 9/1, Ran to form despite not having the best of runs when second, beaten 1 1/4l off 57 last time, and is 1lb lower here. Effective over 14-16f and can go well again. 2nd over C&D last week (Prince Quattro a neck behind in 3rd); each-way shout again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (22/1 -57%)Maywedance |
22/1(-57%) | (9) Maywedance 22/1, Ran to form when fourth, beaten 6 1/4l, in a handicap at Newcastle latest. Effective over 12-14f but remains inconsistent. Has shown some promise for new stable and stepping back up in trip could help. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (9/4 +10%)Captain Robert |
9/4(+10%) | (8) Captain Robert 9/4, Did not have to improve to get off the mark when landing a handicap by a length off a 4lb lower mark at Chelmsford last time. Off a short break and still on a competitive mark. Off the mark at Chelmsford in December (1m6f); form franked and he makes most appeal. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (7/1 +7%)Prince Quattro |
7/1(+7%) | (3) Prince Quattro 7/1, Ran to form when third, beaten 2l off 69 last time, and is 1lb lower here. Effective up to 12-16f and respected in current form. Followed Southwell win with a solid 3rd over C&D last week; should remain competitive. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (25/1 -39%)Hill Station |
25/1(-39%) | (7) Hill Station 25/1, Just about back to form on the Flat when beaten 3l off a 1lb higher mark here last time. Effective over 12-14f but needs more. Not beaten far into fifth over 2m here last month; others bring more persuasive claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (1) (15/2 +46%)Parramount |
15/2(+46%) | (1) Parramount 15/2, Below form back on the Flat when beaten 8 1/4l in a handicap at Chelmsford last time. Effective at 12-14f but a bounce back is needed. C&D winner; below best on last month's return to the Flat; others have stronger claims. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Although SKYCUTTER let favourite-backers down at Southwell, his third was still a big improvement on what he had shown in other recent starts. The eight-year-old isn't the most reliable but a race of this nature should be well within his compass, not least because he's been rated much higher in the past. Chelmsford victor Captain Robert merits consideration, as does veteran Billy Bathgate, and Prince Quattro is well worth a second look too.

Further Measure can go well but CAPTAIN ROBERT's Chelmsford win has been franked and he can defy a 4lb rise.

1st (3) (5/1 +17%)Towerlands |
5/1(+17%) | (3) Towerlands 5/1, Was a bit keen back up in trip when fourth, beaten 2l off 80 last time, and runs from the same mark here. Effective at 7/8f and likely to go well again if settling over this longer trip. Improving 4yo but steps up in trip tonight and will need to settle better than last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (9/1 -13%)Commander Of Life |
9/1(-13%) | (4) Commander Of Life 9/1, Ran to form when beaten 3l off this mark at Southwell last time. Effective at 7/8f on the all-weather and has the ability to go well again under similar conditions. Arrives in good form but hopes appear to rest on the step up in trip giving him a boost. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (1/1 +33%)Eupator |
1/1(+33%) | (1) Eupator 1/1, Bit keen but had the run of the race and improved again when landing a handicap by 4l off a 6lb lower mark here last time. Effective over 8-12f and in form, with a good chance of completing a hat-trick. Two wide-margin wins here last month; still of major interest under latest 5lb penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (25/1 -108%)Urban Road |
25/1(-108%) | (6) Urban Road 25/1, Was a no-show from off the pace when beaten 8l in a handicap at Newcastle last time, having been in good form prior. Suited by 8-10f on the all-weather, and a step back up in trip may help. C&D win last February; disappointed 12 days ago and needs to rebound quickly. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (9/2 0%)Charlie's Choice |
9/2(0%) | (5) Charlie's Choice 9/2, Did his best work late and ran to form when fourth, beaten 2l off 77 last time, and runs from the same mark here. Trainer is in form and, usually held up, he has a good chance again. Two-time C&D winner; comes here in good form but needs more to win in this field. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (40/1 -100%)Spirit Lead Me |
40/1(-100%) | (7) Spirit Lead Me 40/1, Was outpaced when dropped in trip and finished down the field in a handicap at Lingfield most recently. Had been in good form prior, is effective over 7-9f on the all-weather, but the handicapper has had his say. Below his best 13 days ago and needs to prove his stamina; others look stronger. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

EUPATOR followed up on a recent course win with a C&D success that was equally as impressive and, just as was the case last week, the 5lb penalty might not be enough to stop him. Towerlands has held his form since completing a hat-trick, although he may need the handicapper to relent for now so the class-dropping Urban Road is of greater interest.

Shihoku has a bigger run in him but this looks good for EUPATOR (nap) to complete a quick Wolverhampton hat-trick.

1st (5) (22/1 +21%)Love Alive |
22/1(+21%) | (5) Love Alive 22/1, Disappointing off a break when beaten 9 1/4l in a novice at Southwell last time. Effective at 5/6f, but has a bit to prove after two below-par runs. Needs to step forward from last month's stable debut but that is possible back down to 5f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (9/4 +68%)Flash Rascal |
9/4(+68%) | (3) Flash Rascal 9/4, Ran to form third beaten 3l off 70 last time, same mark here; effective 6/7f, acts on G, GF and AW; consistent if exposed. Solid record since switched to AW; can't afford to fluff the start dropped back to 5f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (6/5 +56%)Grey Horizon |
6/5(+56%) | (1) Grey Horizon 6/5, Improved despite being made a lot of use of and racing keenly from a wide draw when landing a handicap by a length off a 6lb lower mark here last time. Effective at 5/6f, will stay 7f if settling better, and has a very likeable attitude. 3-3 this year, all over 6f on Tapeta; needs more back at 5f and under penalty but thriving. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (22/1 -57%)Whizzy Dizzy |
22/1(-57%) | (4) Whizzy Dizzy 22/1, Ran to form up in trip when beaten 3 1/4l off this mark here last time. Trainer is in form, but she has a wide draw; effective at 5/6f and a consistent type. No improvement for handicapping here last week (6f); drawn widest back at 5f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (16/1 -14%)Rotokura Belle |
16/1(-14%) | (2) Rotokura Belle 16/1, Too keen and below form when well beaten in a nursery at Newcastle last time. Returning from a break, effective at 5f, quite small, and her form has been in and out, but the mark still looks fair. Easy Southwell win in September but failed to back it up one week later; absent since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (11/1 +8%)Mwaki |
11/1(+8%) | (9) Mwaki 11/1, Far too keen and below form when well beaten in a nursery at Lingfield last time. Had been in good form prior, is off a short break, suited by 5f, and may have a good chance despite a 3lb rise. Won from Moretons over C&D last October; ran poorly when last seen, but better than that. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (11/2 -57%)Moretons |
11/2(-57%) | (7) Moretons 11/2, Off a break when dropped in from a wide draw and forced wide when beaten 5 1/2l in a handicap here last time. Had been in good form previously, with blinkers applied for the first time. Not at his best here last week (6f); return to 5f and new headgear could give him a lift. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Far Too Fizzy had been threatening to win for weeks prior to his recent Lingfield romp, but a 10lb rise will ask more of him at this higher level and it is GREY HORIZON who shades preference. Scott Dixon's charge completed a hat-trick here last week and a 6lb penalty should not prevent another bold bid. Whizzy Dizzy failed to see out 6f on her latest start so may fare better back at the minimum trip.

He needs to raise his game again to defy a penalty but GREY HORIZON is thriving at present and should be quick enough for 5f.

Visor is applied for the first time, suited by 8f, having initially improved after being gelded but with something to prove. Unexposed handicap debutant; visor is enlisted this evening; capable of better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (4/1 +38%)Thanh Nam |
4/1(+38%) | (3) Thanh Nam 4/1, Ran about to the balance of his form when fifth, beaten 4l off 59 last time, and is 1lb lower here. Effective at 7-10f, a little quirky but overall form has been consistent. Two AW wins this winter, including C&D; disappointing on last two starts; needs a revival. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (15/8 +71%)Lexington Express |
15/8(+71%) | (7) Lexington Express 15/8, Was a bit keen when stepped up in trip but rallied to finish fourth, beaten 6l, in a nursery at Chelmsford latest. Returns from a short break, effective at 7-8f, though stamina for this trip is a concern. 0-9 for Alice Haynes but did show some promise; not ruled out on her stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) (16/1 +0%)Akrivos |
16/1(+0%) | (9) Akrivos 16/1, Did not travel when well beaten in a handicap at Lingfield latest. Effective at 7-8f and may benefit from being ridden more conservatively than on his most recent start. Promising handicap debut in November but two heavy defeats have followed; risky. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (16/1 -300%)Bergamo Gold |
16/1(-300%) | (5) Bergamo Gold 16/1, Bit better effort made plenty of use of when fourth beaten 3 1/4l in a novice here latest; should be effective 7f+ though worth a try over further, acts on AW; still open to improvement. Didn't see things out in three 7f runs at two; bred to be better than this and may improve. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (13/2 +19%)Popty Ping |
13/2(+19%) | (1) Popty Ping 13/2, Late headway from well off the pace when fourth at Southwell latest. Effective at 6-8f and consistent since being fitted with headgear, running close to form on recent starts. Reliable in Class 6 handicaps; fairly exposed but should give her running. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (15/2 +25%)Hamish Leek |
15/2(+25%) | (6) Hamish Leek 15/2, Ran about to form well beaten in a novice here latest; cheekpieces first time; usually held up; effective 7f, acts on AW; consistent but moderate. Potential improver now upped in trip and fitted with cheekpieces for his handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (12) (66/1 -267%)Curated |
66/1(-267%) | (12) Curated 66/1, Was lazy early and ran into traffic late when beaten 9l in a handicap here last time. A big, strong sort and a half-sister to a 5/6f winner, but has looked irresolute so far. No better for handicapping when 6th of 9 here (6f) last week; new trip needs to transform. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (4) (9/1 -13%)Telling Time |
9/1(-13%) | (4) Telling Time 9/1, Easily his best effort off a break when a 5 1/2l third in a novice here on his most recent run. Effective at 7f and a small type, but his overall profile is heading the right way. Hit with 10lb rise for his 3rd over 7f here on December's stable debut; longer trip a plus. |

9/1(-13%) | (8) Flying Macs 9/1, Ran to the balance of her recent form when beaten 3 1/4l off a 2lb higher mark at Lingfield last time. Cheekpieces are applied for the first time and her current mark looks competitive. Best form at 7f; stamina query at this trip and connections now turn to cheekpieces. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

With many of these having the potential to find improvement, only a tentative vote can go to BERGAMO GOLD. The daughter of Ten Sovereigns has slowly been getting the hang of things since making her debut in August, but she enters handicaps from a potentially workable mark and a step up in trip should help. Popty Ping didn't give her true running at Southwell and the otherwise consistent filly merits respect. Flying Macs is also noted.

Handicap newcomers Hamish Leek, Silver State and MONTU bring untapped potential to a modest contest.
Ths is the racecard key.
