1st (1) (1/3 +63%)Mcmurray |
1/3(+63%) | (1) Mcmurray 1/3, Showed determination weaving through traffic to land a Doncaster handicap by a neck off 83 last time. Ridden by a top course jockey. Effective over 7f and 8f, handles good to soft and good to firm. Likeable attitude with more to offer. Building a solid profile and only 4lb higher than for narrow nursery win at Doncaster. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (11/5 +0%)Flash Of Fire |
11/5(+0%) | (3) Flash Of Fire 11/5, Finished strongly under a considerate ride when fourth, beaten 3 1/2l in a 7f Kempton novice last time. Effective over 7f and likely to stay 1m. Well bred, powerful filly of quality who is clearly well regarded and open to further progress. Two good runs; probably on a very fair mark and looks more than ready for this longer trip. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

MCMURRAY ran behind the classy A Bit Of Spirit on his first couple of appearances and gets the vote after supplementing his breakthrough triumph when making a successful handicap debut on good to soft at Doncaster. He is progressive and should be able to concede weight to Flash Of Fire, who looked ready for the step up in trip when fourth over 7f at Kempton.

McMurray is hard to knock but FLASH OF FIRE brings plenty of potential now raised to a mile and she edges preference.

1st (6) (6/1 -20%)Stay Sharp |
6/1(-20%) | (6) Stay Sharp 6/1, Matched maiden form on handicap debut when beaten 4l off 59 at Leicester last time. Wears a visor for the first time; effective over 7f on fast ground and seems fairly treated. Better for blinkers when third off 1lb higher at Leicester (7f, good); now visored. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (12/1 -260%)Pimentel |
12/1(-260%) | (8) Pimentel 12/1, Well backed when outstaying rivals to win a handicap by 3/4l off 54 at Brighton last time. Effective at 7f and may stay further; acts on fast ground. Not the most willing but capable of better. Narrow Brighton winner but penalised accordingly and has slower ground to deal with. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (11/2 +73%)Guest House |
11/2(+73%) | (7) Guest House 11/2, Ran poorly when stepped up in trip, finishing down the field in a novice at Ascot most recently. Returns from a short break; yet to show any measurable form and difficult to assess. Gelded during his three-month absence and handicaps are now a better bet; market can guide. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (5/1 +9%)Lexington Express |
5/1(+9%) | (5) Lexington Express 5/1, Ran to form when beaten 2 1/4l off 60 over 8f at Musselburgh last time. Significant jockey booking; effective from 7f to 8f, acts on good to soft and sound ground. Shows a good attitude and looks competitively treated. Still a maiden and not progressing despite a respectable third at Musselburgh 22 days ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (15/2 +38%)Born To Bright |
15/2(+38%) | (3) Born To Bright 15/2, Ran poorly and was well beaten in an 8f novice at Newmarket last time, having shown minor promise on debut over 7f on good ground but disappointing since. Best run was on debut and subsequent starts have been at top tracks; h'cap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (15/2 -114%)Lapidarist |
15/2(-114%) | (1) Lapidarist 15/2, Produced her best run so far when beaten 4l in a 9f maiden at Wolverhampton, not really put into the race. The trainer is in form, and she looks effective from 7f to 9f; her opening mark appears workable. Whether this drop in trip will suit is questionable but has shown more than most. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (6/1 +45%)Resalah |
6/1(+45%) | (4) Resalah 6/1, Ran to a similar level to her handicap debut when beaten 5l in a Newbury nursery last time. Cheekpieces applied for the first time; probably stays 7f and acts on soft and good ground, though her mark may be stiff. Novice runs were half promising but hasn't had any impact in two nurseries; tries headgear. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) (10/3 +33%)Inclusive |
10/3(+33%) | (2) Inclusive 10/3, Moderate effort when finishing down the field in a maiden at Leicester last time. Wears a hood for the first time with a significant jockey booking. By a sprinting sire, dam stayed 10f, and action suggests ease in the ground will suit; showed minor promise over 7f on fast ground second start. Disappointing should she not show a bit more now into nurseries with a hood added. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (10) (100/1 -203%)Yea Boi |
100/1(-203%) | (10) Yea Boi 100/1, Well beaten in a 6f maiden at Lingfield last time and yet to show any worthwhile form. Well behind in his maidens over 6f and 7f; all to prove on this handicap debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

PIMENTEL was able to open her account in a similar event at Brighton a week ago. First-time cheekpieces appeared to be instrumental in that more accomplished performance and the daughter of Pinatubo could be one to follow in the retained headgear, despite the 6lb penalty. Lexington Express has proven consistent in defeat so far and returning to 7f could be worth exploring. Nursery debutants Lapidarist and Inclusive are others to keep an eye on in the betting.

An open-looking nursery. A chance is taken on BORN TO BRIGHT who has done her qualifying at top tracks.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (7/2 +65%)Food For Thought |
7/2(+65%) | (2) Food For Thought 7/2, Showed greenness but made late headway when beaten 6l in a 7f Newbury novice on debut; bred to stay at least a mile and sure to improve with experience. Kept on for sixth on Newbury debut (7f) but was no threat to the principals. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (12/1 -140%)Ruby Wedding |
12/1(-140%) | (5) Ruby Wedding 12/1, 2 Apr; Sea The Moon filly; half-sister to Jewel In My Crown, smart at 10f; dam high-class at 10f; could contend. Out of a 1m2f Listed winner; market helpful on debut. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (4/1 -14%)Bintsaleh |
4/1(-14%) | (1) Bintsaleh 4/1, 18 Apr; 925,000gns Dubawi filly; half-sister to Cape Flora, very useful at 10f; dam very smart at 12f; top course trainer; likely to go well. 925,000gns yearling; out of Group 2-winning close relative of Arc winner Waldgeist. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

SACRED GROUND, who cost 550,000gns, boasts an appealing pedigree and is a tempting proposition ahead of her racecourse bow. A daughter of Kingman out of Oaks winner Anapurna, there is an awful lot to like and market support could be highly significant. Bintsaleh, a 925,000gns yearling, is similarly appealing and must be taken seriously given the hefty price tag. Lyrics Of Life sets the form standard and commands respect following a brace of second-placed finishes at Newmarket and Haydock.

There are some interesting newcomers but LYRICS OF LIFE sets a fairly useful standard and ought to put her experience to good use.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (9) (25/1 -108%)Sprightly Dance |
25/1(-108%) | (9) Sprightly Dance 25/1, Camelot filly; half-sister to Postileo, smart at 12f; wears hood first time; from a top yard. Well related and has to be of interest, despite the immediate fitting of headgear. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (11/1 +31%)Great Mates |
11/1(+31%) | (5) Great Mates 11/1, Ran to form when making plenty of use of herself, beaten 6l in a maiden at Kempton last time. Trainer in form; effective at 1m on good ground; consistent performer. Modest AW run last time but not far away with a repeat of her second at Nottingham. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (11/2 -57%)Dreamasar |
11/2(-57%) | (2) Dreamasar 11/2, Well backed and showed good attitude when kicking clear to win a novice at Lingfield by 5l last time. Effective at 1m, acts on good ground; likeable and open to further improvement. Third to a good one on debut and then hosed up on the AW; bred to be above average. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (4/1 -14%)Bella's Path |
4/1(-14%) | (1) Bella's Path 4/1, Came clear when winning a maiden at Kempton by 3l last time, suggesting further would suit. Effective at 1m, likely to appreciate longer trips, acts on fast ground; more to come. Kempton performance looked good on the eye and was backed up by a useful RPR. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (5/2 +50%)Digub |
5/2(+50%) | (4) Digub 5/2, Carried head high and never really put the pedal down when 5l fourth in a maiden over 7f at Newmarket on debut in September 2024. From a top course trainer; returning from a long layoff and bred to stay middle distances; plenty to come. Fourth at Newmarket just over a year ago; market can guide on belated return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (33/1 -32%)Rose Cotton |
33/1(-32%) | (8) Rose Cotton 33/1, Similar to debut when 7 1/4l third in a novice over 10f at Windsor last time. Off a short break; stays 10f and acts on a sound surface; may yet improve. Similar sort of form in 1m2f novices at Goodwood and Windsor; more needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (14/1 -40%)Naallat |
14/1(-40%) | (7) Naallat 14/1, Similar to debut when well beaten in a maiden over 9f at Wolverhampton last time; probably needs further. Promising debut and subsequent absence would suggest something was amiss next time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (6) (300/1 -500%)Izzy Fast |
300/1(-500%) | (6) Izzy Fast 300/1, Land Force filly; half-sister to Priscilla's Wish, very useful at 7f; likely to need the run. Seventh foal; half-sister to four winners; wouldn't be the obvious answer on debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

A promising third in behind a subsequent Listed winner on her debut before scoring in taking fashion at Lingfield last time out, DREAMASAR can go in again. The Masar filly is related to a couple of Group-winners, and that may be a route she goes down in time. Arriving with similar claims following a comfortable victory at Kempton, Bella's Path can give the selection the most to think about, while well-related newcomer Blue Nazare could also figure.

Blue Nazare is feared but DREAMASAR is a half-sister to Group 1 winner Dreamloper and she looks to have a bright future herself.

Up 5lb for winning on the AW and the second has since struggled over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (17/2 +6%)Karthala |
17/2(+6%) | (7) Karthala 17/2, Probably needed the run on handicap debut when beaten 6l over 10f at Windsor last time; cheekpieces first time; trainer in form; effective at 1m, probably stays further, acts on good to soft; could progress. Off the mark at Newmarket when 2lb lower; may not approve on this slower ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (15/8 +53%)Pergola |
15/8(+53%) | (6) Pergola 15/8, Ran to form when stepped up to 12f, second beaten 1/2l off 69 last time; from a top course trainer; effective 10-12f, acts on good and firm; mark remains competitive. Second in a small field at Windsor last time and gets in here off an untouched mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (4/1 -14%)Furhaan |
4/1(-14%) | (3) Furhaan 4/1, Improved on handicap debut when landing a race by a head off 67 at Windsor last time; effective over 12f on heavy ground; on a fair mark. Came from behind to win at Windsor so good value for that head margin; up 3lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (10/1 +0%)Prince Rasam |
10/1(+0%) | (1) Prince Rasam 10/1, Ran to form when beaten 2l off a mark of 68 over 10f at Epsom last time; suited by 10f, acts on good to soft; competitive mark. Pleasing stable debut to finish second at Epsom and won't be far away with a repeat. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (10/1 +17%)Queen's Company |
10/1(+17%) | (2) Queen's Company 10/1, Disappointing effort when beaten 8l in a handicap over 12f at Kempton last time; effective 10-12f, acts on good to soft and good to firm, goes well at Yarmouth; unreliable. Four of her five wins have come here but exposed and becoming hard to predict. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) (28/1 +0%)Treasured Angel |
28/1(+0%) | (9) Treasured Angel 28/1, May not have handled soft ground on handicap debut when second beaten 15l over 10f at Salisbury last time; showed minor promise first two starts but hard to evaluate and has a bit to prove now. Didn't look that well treated for handicap debut and was hammered 15l by the winner. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

PERGOLA might not be the most consistent, but she improved for a return to further when second at Windsor last time out. She will need to prove herself on differing ground conditions but, if doing so, she could be the answer from an unchanged mark. A determined winner on heavy ground at the same venue last month, Furhaan is entitled to be thereabouts again off 3lb higher, while the same could be said for Without Burlington, who was raised 5lb for an easy Wolverhampton success in August.

The suggestion is FURHAAN who came near last to first when winning at Windsor and he may have got off lightly with just a 3lb nudge.

11/2(+39%) | (6) Gorgeous Mr George 11/2, Won by 4l off 65 here in August; second beaten 2l off 75 last time, running to that form; current mark looks competitive. Three wins here this summer and has held his form admirably; tough to knock. |

22/1(+0%) | (8) Dashing Dick 22/1, Below par when beaten 7 1/2l in a 7f handicap at Newmarket last time; chance on best form but can be erratic. Solid record at this track and this belated return to a mile might work for him. |

25/1(+11%) | (15) Corundum 25/1, Below par when beaten 9 1/2l in a handicap at Kempton last time; appears to have lost form. Chance on best form (including good to soft) and down to a career-low mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (12) (12/1 -20%)Noble Guest |
12/1(-20%) | (12) Noble Guest 12/1, Landed a 7f handicap here by 1/2l off 70 last time; appears to be progressing and could have more to offer despite a higher mark. Two wins here since July; up another 4lb but gives the strong impression that 1m will suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (11/1 -38%)Fire Flame |
11/1(-38%) | (9) Fire Flame 11/1, Won by 1 1/4l off 72 over 7f at Thirsk two starts ago; disappointed last time and overall form remains inconsistent. Won in the new hood at Thirsk and Chester next time didn't go to plan. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (14) (22/1 -10%)Beauty By My Side |
22/1(-10%) | (14) Beauty By My Side 22/1, Ran to form when beaten 1 1/4l off 72 at Kempton last time; mark looks fair based on that and she has been largely consistent. Rallied well for third in a 1m Kempton handicap three weeks ago but she's in deeper here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (9/2 +18%)Midnight's Dream |
9/2(+18%) | (4) Midnight's Dream 9/2, Below par when beaten 8 1/4l in a handicap at Kempton last time; in good form before that, with a top jockey back on board following a short break; a contender. Dual winner; penultimate effort reads very well; this slower ground is a concern. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (16) (50/1 -79%)Dion Baker |
50/1(-79%) | (16) Dion Baker 50/1, Made too much use of when beaten 10l in a 7f handicap here last time; trainer in form but recent efforts are difficult to assess accurately. Good mark but now thoroughly exposed and needed to run better here last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (5) (17/2 +23%)Distinct Spirit |
17/2(+23%) | (5) Distinct Spirit 17/2, Probably needed the run when beaten 4l off 76 over 7f at Newmarket last time; still unexposed but has something to prove. Excellent run at Newmarket given his lack of experience and recent match practice. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (1) (4/1 +67%)Jimmy Speaking |
4/1(+67%) | (1) Jimmy Speaking 4/1, Won by a neck off a mark of 77 here in July but has been below form in recent starts. C&D winner and had been in good form until the last twice; those were Class 3s, though. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (11) (10/1 +55%)Brave Byreflection |
10/1(+55%) | (11) Brave Byreflection 10/1, Won by 3l off 72 over 7f at Chepstow three runs back; did too much too soon from a wide draw last time; generally reliable and suited by 7f, though her mark looks stiff. Chepstow winner in July but has struggled off her revised mark since then. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (3) (14/1 -180%)Almekarem |
14/1(-180%) | (3) Almekarem 14/1, Well backed when winning a novice over 9f at Wolverhampton by 1/2l last time; remains unexposed and looks a likely improver. It was a thin novice he won at Wolverhampton (8.6f) but still looked a work in progress. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Noble Guest has won two of his last three starts here, both over seven furlongs, and although yet to succeed over the mile, it might be worth exploring again. Sir Mark Prescott is a dab hand at improving his horses and Wolverhampton scorer ALMEKAREM, who steps into handicaps for the first time, could follow a similar path. An opening mark of 81 looks fair assuming he has more to offer, while Big Sip is tried in cheekpieces and might prove best of the Marco Botti pair.

This will take some winning but LORD MONTAGUE (nap) has done really well in both his handicaps and can improve again.

13/2(+68%) | (11) Cameley Days 13/2, Fourth beaten 3l in a classified race at Ffos Las last time. Cheekpieces on for the first time; not without hope on that effort but overall form remains modest. First effort of note when beaten under 3l in a modest classified race last time. |

66/1(-32%) | (9) Mr Phillips 66/1, Finished down the field in a handicap over 8f at Southwell last time and showed nothing in maidens. Hasn't shown much at all in a bumper and four Flat races, the latest his handicap debut. |

100/1(-100%) | (10) College Witch 100/1, Something appeared amiss when well beaten in a 7f handicap here last time. Returning from a break and has plenty to prove. Has regressed since a fair AW run in February and she's not straightforward. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Chloe's Courage faded over 7f here latest but she could go well eased in trip. John Ryan's filly might struggle to cope with Chelmsford winner DUE DATE, though, who will appreciate the nature of a strongly-run contest, while a subsequent 4lb rise looks fair. No News remains a maiden on the turf but he was only beaten a neck at Southwell of 2lb lower last time and the booking of Kieran Shoemark is perhaps noteworthy.

There were excuses on the AW last time for MUMA MYFLO who had shown improved form the run before at Newmarket.
Ths is the racecard key.
