1st (1) (7/5 +38%)Atticum |
7/5(+38%) | (1) Atticum 7/5, Overcame another sluggish start to leave debut form well behind when switching to turf, finishing second beaten 1/2l in a maiden at Nottingham last time. Effective at 5f and acts on good to soft; expected to progress further, especially once in nurseries. Significant improvement when closing in fast on newcomer at Nottingham (5f; 33-1); chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (9/4 -50%)Overbudget |
9/4(-50%) | (4) Overbudget 9/4, Showed good pace on debut, finishing a clear second to an easy winner when runner-up beaten 4l in a novice at Nottingham on her only start. Effective at 5f and acts on good to soft; should improve on that debut effort and is proven with some give in the ground. Posted solid debut at Nottingham (5f; 7-1); improvement is on the cards; key player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (11/4 +45%)Fermain |
11/4(+45%) | (3) Fermain 11/4, Appeared to know her job on debut, showing clear promise behind a useful winner when third beaten 4l in a novice over 6f at Chelmsford. The trainer is in form. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (15/2 -88%)Tie Fighter |

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

All the runners here have shown the potential to take a race, but FERMAIN looks the likeliest winner with the George Boughey horses in fine form. A once-raced daughter of Ardad, she was easy in the market on her Chelmsford debut before finishing a four-length third when appearing to learn plenty from the experience. Atticum was only beaten a half-length at Nottingham on his second start and may get the better promising debut second Overbudget here in an intriguing contest.

Nottingham form could hold sway with Atticum and OVERBUDGET running well there recently. Dylan Cunha's filly receives the vote.

From a top course trainer, bred for 8f+ and acts on good; a likely big improver going up in trip. Clear signs of inexperience when fifth of ten on Doncaster debut (7f; 10-1) six weeks ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

250/1(-213%) | (1) Capricorn Belle 250/1, Again offered little, hanging under pressure when beaten 8l in a novice over 7f at Southwell last time. Cheekpieces first time. 10th (3) (300/1 -100%)Dream Of Ithaca |
300/1(-100%) | (3) Dream Of Ithaca 300/1, Up in trip, she again failed to beat a rival when well beaten in a maiden at Nottingham last time. Bred to want 10f+, sound surfaces may suit best, but she has plenty to prove. Massive prices, failing to beat a single rival in two starts (7f-8.5f); look elsewhere. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

There is very little worthwhile form to go one here with the exception of Charlie Appleby's OTTOMAN EMPRESS, whose three-quarter length debut second at Newmarket stands out. Sent off at the head of the market last month, she had to race at the rear after a wayward start and did well in the circumstances. She should be up to going one better here, with Newbury fifth Darkwing and newcomer Music Academy ones to watch for future races.

A fascinating fillies' maiden. The well-related OTTOMAN EMPRESS looked a winner-in-waiting when chasing home Golden Orbit at Newmarket.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (13) (10/1 -25%)Palmarian |
10/1(-25%) | (13) Palmarian 10/1, Switched to all-weather with the hood back on and was one of the first beaten when finishing 8l down in a handicap at Kempton last time. Effective at 7f on good to soft; return to this course and distance offers hope of a bounce back. Promising handicap debut over C&D last month but couldn't back it up on AW next time. |

11th (12) (50/1 -257%)Tayib Youmzain |
50/1(-257%) | (12) Tayib Youmzain 50/1, Never a threat over a trip short of what's required, beaten 5 1/2l in a handicap over 6f at Lingfield last time. Wears cheekpieces for the first time; trainer in form. Effective from 5f to 8f and suited by cut; return to a longer trip with headgear offers hope. 13th (1) (9/2 +55%)Surrey Shadow |
9/2(+55%) | (1) Surrey Shadow 9/2, Back on soft ground, he was always behind in a race where prominent racers were favoured when down the field in a handicap at Sandown most recently. Big chance on best form but ran no sort of race at Sandown last month (sent off favourite). |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

GORGEOUS MR GEORGE deserves a fourth success of the season after three wins here and with a length second over a mile in a similar race off 1lb lower last time here, he gets the vote. Melvin Udall got off the mark in a Redcar novice in September by a neck and a mark of 76 may underestimate him ahead of his handicap debut, while Kingman gelding Palmarian may do better back on the turf after a disappointing fifth at Kempton.

A competitive handicap can fall to James Fanshawe's PIETRO (nap), who ran well in a hot Doncaster handicap last month.

6/1(+50%) | (6) Diomed Duke 6/1, Made no impact reverting to the all-weather when beaten 4l off 78 at Lingfield last time. Effective at 5-6f and prefers fast ground. Needs to bounce back and cut in the ground raises a question. Impressed at Lingfield (turf) in June; hit hard by the handicapper; good to soft a query. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (9/1 +25%)Far Above The Law |
9/1(+25%) | (2) Far Above The Law 9/1, Again below form having raced keenly when beaten 7l in a 6f handicap at Newmarket last time. Suited by 6f and a sound surface but has lost form of late and has a bit to prove with give. All 2025 runs over 6f, showing useful form on a couple of occasions; none too consistent. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (17/2 -31%)Cressida Wildes |
17/2(-31%) | (1) Cressida Wildes 17/2, Ran to form when beaten 1 1/4l off 79 at Bath last time. Suited by 5f, only just gets an easy 6f, and prefers a sound surface. In good form but would like faster ground. C&D winner; better form when 2nd at Bath latest; up 2lb; unraced on slower than good. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (7) (22/1 -10%)Our Planet |
22/1(-10%) | (7) Our Planet 22/1, Looked to do too much early from a wide draw when beaten 9 1/4l in a handicap at Chester last time. Returning from a short break. Effective at 5f and acts on good to firm and good ground. Excuses last time and considered on earlier Windsor fourth. Won a Leicester maiden in July (stable debut); handicapper on top more recently. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Cuban Lady and Sturlasson are high on the shortlist. The former has been placed in two of her three previous starts in handicaps and the low-mileage filly is appealing on her first try over the minimum trip. Sturlasson is more proven over 5f and lurks on a very competitive mark. However, a chance is taken on DIOMED DUKE, who can set good fractions when he gets into a rhythm and could be hard to reel in if allowed to set the tempo.

It may pay to give another chance to STURLASSON, who was so impressive at Southwell last month, now he is back on a straight track.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (5/2 +38%)Likealot |
5/2(+38%) | (1) Likealot 5/2, Looked a non-stayer on first try at 14f when comfortably held in a handicap over 1m6f at Goodwood last time; in good form prior. Effective from 10-11f, acts on soft; should be suited by the drop in trip. Solid handicap form at 1m2f to about 1m3f; competitive again after fading over 1m6f latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (11/1 -29%)Sibling Rivelry |
11/1(-29%) | (6) Sibling Rivelry 11/1, Back on track with an improved win in a small field, landing a handicap by a neck off 66 over 12f at Newcastle last time. Suited by 12f and acts on good ground; could have more to offer though cut in the ground would be new. Beat Sound Janet convincingly in July; since won on AW; ground query on good to soft. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (15/8 +6%)Silver Chamber |
15/8(+6%) | (5) Silver Chamber 15/8, Won by 3/4l off 65 over 12f at Ripon three starts back. Couldn't see it out having got to the front but ran to form when second beaten 2l off 71 last time. Top course trainer; effective from 10-12f, acts on any ground; consistent and progressive. Her 1m4f Ripon win worked out well; still in form; likely to be close up again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (10/1 -67%)Sound Janet |
10/1(-67%) | (3) Sound Janet 10/1, No threat to the easy winner on ground that may have been too soft when second beaten 4 1/4l in a maiden at Carlisle latest. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (6/1 -100%)Gold Penny |
6/1(-100%) | (4) Gold Penny 6/1, Didn't have the pace to match the useful winner when second beaten 4l in a novice over 12f at Lingfield last time. Effective from 10-12f and acts on good ground; progressing and should be suited by the return to a galloping track. Some promise in good races when qualifying; intriguing in most realistic assignment so far. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

A winner over 1m4f at Ripon in July, SILVER CHAMBER has knocked on the door with runner-up efforts at Windsor and Pontefract last month. Her latest effort was particularly encouraging as she pulled well clear of the rest and, from 1lb higher, the daughter of Sea The Moon has a major chance of success this time. Handicap debutant Gold Penny is a likely improver to monitor closely in the betting, while Sound Janet and Sibling Rivelry are consistent enough to be on the premises.

Sibling Rivelry can continue on the upgrade but GOLD PENNY has been tilting at windmills so far and can show more now handicapping.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (9/2 +40%)Hinchinbrooke |
9/2(+40%) | (7) Hinchinbrooke 9/2, Run probably reflected ability when fourth, beaten 4 1/2l in a handicap over 11f at Kempton latest. Suited by 10f and a sound surface; may improve back at this trip. Handy sort who is 0-7 but bounced back to form when fourth last time; could go well. |

Usually held up; effective at 7-8f on a sound surface; could improve stepping up in trip for handicap debut. Enough in pedigree to suggest stepping up in trip shouldn't be a problem on handicap debut. |

22/1(+12%) | (2) Lechuga Lad 22/1, Unable to back up July's improved Haydock win when well beaten in a handicap at Newcastle, not helped by racing keenly. Suited by 10f and acts on good to soft and good; needs to settle better but return to turf should suit. Patchy efforts of late, winning easily at Haydock in July but well held either side. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Ghost Story drops back in distance with every chance having won nicely at Windsor in July. Twilight Moon finished second at Bath last time and the winner has franked that form since, but a chance is taken on the unexposed HAZEM. Last month's belated seasonal debut at Newcastle should have brought him on and, with breeding strongly suggesting Saeed bin Suroor's charge will relish this extra test of stamina, he could be the one on his handicap debut.

The vote goes to the consistent TWILIGHT MOON who stays further and may have the race run to suit in this big field.

A change of scenery has worked the oracle for STATE OF MADNESS. He's won both starts for Charlie Clover's yard by a wide margin, including last week's four-length romp at Brighton, and is hard to oppose with Alexandra Egan's allowance in the plate negating his latest penalty. Amarachi won over C&D on her handicap debut and could land a blow representing last year's winning trainer, while Respectable Jack won't be far away.

The bang-in-form STATE OF MADNESS has an obvious chance of bringing up the hat-trick for his new yard.
Ths is the racecard key.
