In a wide-open event, marginal preference is for TIRIAC, who won impressively over 6f at Windsor earlier in the month and a 6lb rise for that success may still underestimate him. Mattice is another recent winner who merits a place on the shortlist, while Holkham Bay and Champagne Sarah are others with strong form claims. Royal Pleasure caught the eye when fourth on his debut for these connections at Thirsk recently and has to be noted.

Another ultra-competitive sprint on the Knavesmire and having caught the eye with his staying-on fourth at Thirsk earlier this month, ROYAL PLEASURE is selected to go a few places better with headgear back on for the first time in a year. Clearly on a very good mark, he can get the better of Champagne Sarah, a filly that has returned in top form with a couple of third-placed efforts. Slainte Mhath, Tiriac and Gulliver are just a handful of others to consider, too.

Shalaa Asker can go well faced with a drop in class but ROUNDHAY PARK's latest effort suggested he was ready to win again.

ARABIE displayed plenty of promise when a narrow second on his racecourse bow over 5f at Thirsk last month and Karl Burke's colt can put that experience to good use here. Ardeur is arguably the most noteworthy of the newcomers, being the first foal out of a mare who was placed in a Group 2 as a juvenile. That said, Blue Empress and Simmering are also worthy of consideration.

Probably an informative novice, with newcomers BLUE EMPRESS, Simmering and Dark Cloud Rising our three against the field before the all-important betting clues.

A tentative vote goes the way of Ralph Beckett newcomer ARDEUR whose dam was placed in a Group 2 in the July of her 2yo season.

KORKER loves it here and the C&D winner looks to have a big shout again today. The five-year-old was only beaten a couple of lengths in a very competitive contest over this track and trip at the Dante meeting and he may take some stopping off the same mark here. Vintage Clarets was only held by a neck at Chester off 2lb lower 16 days ago and he is another with winning form at this venue. He is considered along with Rabaah, who is sliding down to a feasible mark.

RABAAH could have more to offer dropped to 5f for his top connections and is taken to come out on top. Korker ran well in a similarly hot C&D handicap at the Dante Meeting and is feared. Irish raider Thunderbear is an interesting runner.

Stablemates Vintage Clarets and BROOKLYN NINE NINE (nap) appeal most. The selection is surely well treated granted a change of luck.

The form of Gather Ye Rosebuds' Listed success at Goodwood received a boost when fifth-placed Madame Ambassador landed the Rothesay at Ayr on Wednesday, and the progressive four-year-old merits respect despite a rise in class. However, RIVER OF STARS won this corresponding event 12 months ago on the back of a similar absence, and she appears to have been laid out for this once more. Trevaunance sets the standard on official ratings and she is of interest now stepped up in trip, while Night Sparkle and classy hurdler Marie's Rock are two others to consider.

A good renewal of this Group 3. RIVER OF STARS won this on her 2023 reappearance and is taken to repeat the feat at a track which evidently suits (also ran well in the Lonsdale here on final start last year). Second choice is Safety Catch who was having only her fourth start when winning an AW listed race last November. Recent Goodwood listed scorer Gather Ye Rosebuds completes the shortlist.

This may be decided between last year's winner RIVER OF STARS and and the upped-in-trip Gather Ye Rosebuds.

A tricky puzzle to solve and only a tentative vote can go to MIDNITE RUNNER. Having been gelded over the winter, Michael Dods' charge returned with a creditable fifth over an extended 7f at Beverley 19 days ago. He wasn't unbacked when sent off at odds of 12/1 in a valuable Newmarket sales race in August of last year, too, suggesting better was expected. This flatter track could play to his strengths and, if doing so, his current mark looks well within range. Both Mr Irrelevant and Diddy Man go in search of their respective hat-tricks and must enter calculations, along with Quiet Resolve, who was far from disgraced in a class 3 over track and trip 10 days ago.

DIDDY MAN has taken his form to a new level since joining Harriet Bethell and he's fancied to complete the hat-trick at the chief expense of Old Chums, who shaped really well under a forcing ride at Chester last time. Top-weight Juantorena and recent Musselburgh runner-up East Bank are others for the shortlist.

The improving DIDDY MAN is taken to complete a hat-trick, with East Bank and Quiet Resolve two others who should run well.

Having relished the step up in trip when scoring with authority over 1m2f at Beverley last time, Terrorise holds strong claims of following up that success today. However, Brian Ellison's charge will have to defy an 8lb rise in the ratings and that could leave him susceptible to some better treated rivals, such as JAYYASH. The Gosden-trained colt made a pleasing start in handicap company when he was beaten just a head over 1m at Kempton, and he is taken to go one better with this extra yardage likely to suit. Per Contra is another to note.

Lots of potential on show here, not least the Gosdens' improving Siyouni colt JAYYASH who can quickly resume winning ways now his stamina is drawn out more. Primo Lara also has better days ahead of him and heads the list of dangers, although Terrorise, Flickering Halo and Colorada Dancer also need considering in an intriguing contest.

An interesting 3yo handicap. PRIMO LARA impressed with the way he went from last to first at Chelmsford and is taken to follow up.

A very competitive contest sees a chance taken on MERESIDE DIVA, who won with something in hand on her latest outing over 7f at Haydock and a repeat of that effort would see her go close once again. David and Nicola Barron's charge has been raised just 3lb in the ratings which could prove lenient today. Riot was a comfortable winner over C&D last time and he commands respect, despite carrying top weight after going up 6lb for that success, although Craven, who finished third on that occasion, could reverse that form on much better terms. The hat-trick seeking Northcliff should also be thereabouts, while Extrication could feature on his handicap bow.

CAROLUS MAGNUS didn't get the rub of the green behind Riot here eight days ago and, granted better luck this time, he could be the answer. Mereside Diva looked very much at home over this trip when scoring at Haydock and she willl be a serious threat if able to back that up here. The hat-trick seeking Northcliff looks sure to give another good account, while Craven is also accorded respect.

The unexposed EXTRICATION is taken to win on his handicap debut having shown improved form in two runs for his current yard.
Ths is the racecard key.
