|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (7/2 +56%)Doyen Magic |
7/2(+56%) | (8) Doyen Magic 7/2, Won by 4l off a 5lb lower mark at Limerick two starts back; disappointing on chase return when pulled up in a handicap chase last time; effective over 2½m and acts on any ground; was in good form before latest effort. Pulled up on return to chasing at Limerick 13 days ago, place claims on run here in Nov'. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (9/1 +0%)Lake Chad |
9/1(+0%) | (3) Lake Chad 9/1, Returned to form when fourth beaten 7¼l in a handicap chase at Tramore last time; effective from 2m to 2¾m and on a good mark if able to build on that effort; goes well at Tramore. Four-time chase winner, 14lb below last win, trip ok but never won on ground this testing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) (4/1 +60%)Love Like This |
4/1(+60%) | (9) Love Like This 4/1, Pulled up in a handicap chase at Thurles last time; effective around 2½m; a frustrating maiden. 0-6 over fences, placed on penultimate but pulled up latest (22.5f), drop in trip a plus. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (18/1 +10%)Halsafari |
18/1(+10%) | (6) Halsafari 18/1, Won by 5½l off a 12lb lower mark at Cork three starts ago; disappointing on chase return when tenth beaten 47l off 98 last time but now 5lb lower; effective around 2m and on soft ground; remains well treated on old form though unreliable. Struggled on first chase start for over a year latest, this trip suits, can't discount. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (10) (22/1 +33%)Added Bonus |
22/1(+33%) | (10) Added Bonus 22/1, Outpaced and never threatened when finishing down the field in a handicap hurdle at Limerick most recently; effective around 2m and acts on any ground; had been out of form through 2025. Veteran, behind a couple of these here last November, beaten over timber twice since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (28/1 -250%)Quinn The Eskimo |
28/1(-250%) | (4) Quinn The Eskimo 28/1, Pulled up in a handicap chase at Naas last time; effective from 2m to 2¼m and acts on good ground; debut form has been franked and he is worth another chance. Good ground hurdles winner, pulled up on heavy latest, ground a worry again here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (40/1 +0%)Knockbrack Rambler |
40/1(+0%) | (5) Knockbrack Rambler 40/1, Pulled up in a handicap chase at Limerick last time; usually held up; effective over 2½m and on testing ground but has been inconsistent. Two-time hurdles winner, pulled up or tailed off last five starts, revival needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (2) (5/1 -208%)The Big Cloud |
5/1(-208%) | (2) The Big Cloud 5/1, Returned to form when landing a handicap by 3l off a 7lb lower mark at Naas on chase debut after a break; effective from 2m to 2½m and suited by soft ground; has more to come over fences and may stay further. Up 7lb and up in grade for Naas chase debut win last month, could be more to come. |

Plenty will be putting their faith in The Big Cloud completing a double after returning to winning ways at Naas last month, but a 7lb rise might catch her out. With that in mind, KILBRIN ROCCO gets the vote. The seven-year-old produced a better effort when only finding an in-form rival too good at Limerick on Boxing Day and, despite having a 3lb higher mark to contend with, he might be up to the task. Lake Chad appeals most of the remainder.

THE BIG CLOUD won with authority on her chasing debut at Naas and a 7lb rise may not stop her from following up

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (12/1 +52%)Emerald Breeze |
12/1(+52%) | (5) Emerald Breeze 12/1, Improved under a positive ride when fourth, beaten 2 1/2l, in a bumper at Chepstow last time. Back from a long layoff and needs to take another step forward. Showed clear promise in two Chepstow bumpers in early 2025; has a future over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (125/1 +17%)Man Maid |
125/1(+17%) | (8) Man Maid 125/1, Ran well to a point on debut before finishing well beaten in a maiden hurdle at Wincanton on only start. Effective over 2m and should improve slightly for that experience. Made quite encouraging debut last month but is probably one for further down the line. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (11) (50/1 -213%)Spring Serenade |
50/1(-213%) | (11) Spring Serenade 50/1, Made a promising debut when winning a maiden point at Aghabullogue a year ago. Effective over 3m in points and brings potential to rules racing. Cost £30,000 after slow-ground Irish point win; makes rules debut after one-year absence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (300/1 -100%)Rest Is The Best |
300/1(-100%) | (9) Rest Is The Best 300/1, Again ran to a poor level when well beaten in a maiden hurdle at Uttoxeter last time. Bred for at least 2m4f but may need more time to develop. Well down the field at huge odds in two soft-ground hurdles in the autumn. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (10) (150/1 -88%)Silver Gale |
150/1(-88%) | (10) Silver Gale 150/1, Did not find much and made a modest debut when well beaten in a bumper at Worcester last time; has plenty to prove. Made low-key rules debut in good-ground Worcester bumper last spring. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (300/1 -140%)Half Pint Daisy |
300/1(-140%) | (7) Half Pint Daisy 300/1, Outpaced and looked in need of a stiffer test when down the field in a maiden hurdle at Uttoxeter last time. Trainer in form; acts on good to soft ground and likely needs another run for a mark. Soundly beaten on both hurdling starts and can't be recommended here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (4) (250/1 -100%)Commander Teddy |
250/1(-100%) | (4) Commander Teddy 250/1, Outpaced and modest on debut when well beaten in a bumper at Hereford last time. Returning from a long absence and has plenty to find. Well beaten when 80-1 for Hereford bumper in November 2024 and not seen since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (1) (9/1 -20%)Blowers |
9/1(-20%) | (1) Blowers 9/1, Improved under an aggressive ride and was game when winning a maiden hurdle at Exeter by 3/4l last time. Effective over 2m and acts with cut; needs more to follow up. Battled gamely for huge-odds win at Exeter last month; contender under penalty here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (6) (80/1 -142%)Sun And Rain |
80/1(-142%) | (6) Sun And Rain 80/1, Made a modest debut when well beaten in a bumper at Hereford on only start; faces a tough task here. Always behind when 40-1 for good-ground Hereford bumper in November. |

Having returned the longest-priced winner in UK racing history at odds of 300/1 at Exeter last month, Blowers shouldn't be underestimated in his follow-up bid. However, STARZAND boasts a more solid profile and the fact that he was declared for the Challow before being pulled out suggests that he is highly thought of. The six-year-old is taken to supplement his victory here in October. Bossman Jack can make his presence felt too.

Starzand may find it tough to concede 7lb to BOSSMAN JACK, who made a very promising seasonal/hurdle debut in a good race.

1/1(+60%) | (12) I Walked The Line 1/1, Improved when winning a maiden at Ballingarry by 5 1/2l last time; much more to come under rules for top connections; likely type. Won at Ballingarry in May, has joined champion trainer, unproven on testing ground. |

15/8(+17%) | (6) Magic Sadler 15/8, Improved to win a novice at Borris House by a length last time; runner up in this last year; acts with cut; strong claims. 7-15 in points, won last three in that sphere, second in this last year, obvious chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (10) (100/1 -203%)Step Up Son |
100/1(-203%) | (10) Step Up Son 100/1, Ran poorly when comfortably held in a conditions race at Dromahane last time; acts with cut; well treated on these terms on runner up effort last spring; may represent value on overall form. No point win since March 2023, poor since runner up at Gowran last March, others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (11) (80/1 -186%)The Happy Huntsman |
80/1(-186%) | (11) The Happy Huntsman 80/1, Improved on hurdle form when second beaten 2l in a maiden at Dromahane last time; showed minor promise over hurdles previously; acts with cut; possible improver now chasing Modest maiden hurdle form, placed in points the last twice, this shorter trip could suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (40/1 -100%)Nibbles |
40/1(-100%) | (9) Nibbles 40/1, Ran to form when third beaten 21l in a hunter chase at Limerick last time; usually held up, effective over 2 3/4m, and likely to prefer easy ground; a point winner but still a maiden under rules. Two-time point winner, 0-6 over fences, beaten 21l in hunter chase latest, needs more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (25/1 +38%)Mister Loolah |
25/1(+38%) | (7) Mister Loolah 25/1, Showed improvement though well beaten in a maiden hurdle at Gowran Park last time; returns from a short break and needs to step up. Point winner on good, promise in maiden hurdles, might prefer quicker ground than this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (4) (50/1 -150%)Long Road |
50/1(-150%) | (4) Long Road 50/1, Unseated in a hunter chase at Limerick last time; effective over 2 1/2m and prefers some cut; point winner yet to build on a promising debut over fences under rules. Won at Tinahely in Nov', unseated at Limerick latest, place chance on best form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (7/2 -87%)My Life Be Like |
7/2(-87%) | (8) My Life Be Like 7/2, Made mistakes but improved from debut when fourth beaten 3l in the Hunters Chase at Down Royal; that sets form standard; effective over 3m, acts on good ground, and a prolific point winner; strong contender if building on that effort. 4-7 in points, fine run at Down Royal latest, pulled up sole previous start on soft. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (20/1 -67%)Dromleigh |
20/1(-67%) | (2) Dromleigh 20/1, Runner-up when beaten a head in a conditions race at Dromahane last time; consistent in points but unreliable under rules last spring; needs to find more to figure. Winning pointer, beaten a head in this race on heavy in 2024, could go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (13) (40/1 +0%)Hathaways Cottage |
40/1(+0%) | (13) Hathaways Cottage 40/1, Pulled up in a novice at Borris House last time; dual point winner was well held on sole rules start to date; needs to show much more. 5-13 in points, pulled up sole previous hunter chase and in point latest, bit to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (125/1 -150%)Daytime Friend |
125/1(-150%) | (1) Daytime Friend 125/1, Pulled up in a maiden at Borris House last time and returns from a long absence; showed little in points; faces a stiff task here. Modest form when placed in first two points, pulled up latest, likely best watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (200/1 -300%)Hey Sir |
200/1(-300%) | (3) Hey Sir 200/1, Improved when fourth beaten 15l in a maiden at Borris House last time; failed to complete on sole rules start; returns from a long layoff with plenty to prove. Pulled up in four of six starts, beaten 15l in point on latest, hard to fancy. |

After racking up a hat-trick between the flags in November, Magic Sadler has to be respected back under Rules and would be of further interest if the market speaks in his favour. However, I WALKED THE LINE won with ease in his latest point-to-point outing and his dam is closely related to Grand National winner Many Clouds. This looks a good starting point on his first start for Willie Mullins and he looks the way to go. My Life Be Like isn't ruled out either.

Preference is for last year's runner up MAGIC SADLER who handles heavy and has won his last three starts in point-to-points

1st (4) (6/4 +25%)Calvino |
6/4(+25%) | (4) Calvino 6/4, Pulled up in a novice hurdle at Plumpton last time. Off a short break; effective from 2m to 2m1f and handles good to soft and good to firm ground. A course bumper winner who could bounce back for a yard with a good record here. Promising hurdling debut but pulled up at Plumpton since; well worth another chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (3/1 -60%)Kapitein Kool |
3/1(-60%) | (1) Kapitein Kool 3/1, Ran to form under a penalty when second, beaten 2l, in a novice hurdle at Exeter last time. Off a short break; effective over 2m and handles good to soft and good ground. Debut form looks strong and may have a bit more to come. Excellent second at Exeter latest; concedes weight all round but a player after a break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (7/4 +22%)Bright Legend |
7/4(+22%) | (3) Bright Legend 7/4, Finished a below-form third, beaten 9½l, in a maiden hurdle at Fontwell on latest outing. Off a short break; effective over 2m to 2½m. Irish form sets the standard, a threat though may be vulnerable to an improver. Fairly useful ex-Irish hurdler; well below par for new yard at Fontwell so more needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (10/1 +60%)Sioux Falls |
10/1(+60%) | (7) Sioux Falls 10/1, Green and made mistakes on a modest debut when comfortably held in a novice hurdle at Chepstow last time. A point winner who may need further than 2m under rules. Promising debut fifth at Chepstow; this winning Irish pointer can build on it; considered. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (18/1 +82%)Badentaggart |
18/1(+82%) | (2) Badentaggart 18/1, Improved in first-time blinkers but was comfortably held in a novice hurdle at Wincanton last time. Effective over 2½m and handles soft ground; looks one for handicaps. Only poor form shown in novice hurdles at Chepstow and Wincanton; lots more needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (300/1 -2400%)Fane Court |
300/1(-2400%) | (5) Fane Court 300/1, Showed improvement when winning a maiden point at Kirkistown by a short head last time, but will need plenty more to figure at this level over sharp enough trip on rules debut. Winning Irish pointer; makes his belated hurdling debut now and the market can guide. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (150/1 -127%)Forest Hills |
150/1(-127%) | (6) Forest Hills 150/1, Made the running and set it up for closers when beaten 9l in a handicap at Chepstow last time; flat winner will be suited by sound surface but faces stiff task on hurdle debut. A fair 1m2f scorer on the Flat for Rod Millman; he's no forlorn hope now going hurdling. |

KAPITEIN KOOL sprang a surprise when defeating Calvino (second) at Newton Abbot in October, but he proved it was no fluke at Exeter next time, finishing second under the penalty. The latter is much better off at the weights today but having subsequently disappointed, that form is expected to be upheld. Bright Legend is far more exposed than the other principals, but he made an encouraging stable debut at Fontwell and must not be underestimated.

The vote goes to KAPITEIN KOOL who advanced his form when an excellent runner-up at Exeter last time out and can resume winning ways

11/2(-38%) | (2) Bobby's Nelson 11/2, Ran to form when second, beaten 3/4l, in a maiden hurdle at Uttoxeter last time; effective at 2m on soft ground and should soon get his head in front. Runner-up on all four starts and he can give another good account; chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (9) (10/3 -48%)Off The Jury |
10/3(-48%) | (9) Off The Jury 10/3, Ran to form when second, beaten 4l, in a maiden hurdle at Ascot last time; effective from 2m4f to 3m on soft or good ground; solid handicap form and likely winner soon. 0-10 under rules but runner-up four times and this could be a good opportunity. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (17/2 +29%)Jury's In |
17/2(+29%) | (6) Jury's In 17/2, Showed some promise on debut when fourth, beaten 4 1/2l, in a maiden hurdle here last time; off a short break; effective over 2m4f on soft; open to improvement. Point winner whose C&D hurdle debut fourth gives him something to build; each-way shout. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (40/1 -264%)Jackpot Cauveliere |
40/1(-264%) | (5) Jackpot Cauveliere 40/1, Modest debut when fourth, beaten 15l, in a novice hurdle at Warwick last time; off a short break; effective around 2m5f on soft; should improve for initial experience. Point winner; somewhat underwhelming on hurdle but could be a different proposition today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (11/10 +12%)Giantsgrave |
11/10(+12%) | (4) Giantsgrave 11/10, Promising debut when 1 1/4l third in a maiden hurdle at Lingfield last time; off a short break; effective from 2m to 2m4f on soft or good to soft; more to come for top yard. Bumper winner; turned over at 2-5 on hurdle debut but still ran well; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (22/1 -10%)Karma Police |
22/1(-10%) | (7) Karma Police 22/1, Below bumper form when 36l third in a novice hurdle at Leicester last time; effective from 2m2f to 2m5f on soft; should do better. Point winner and bumper runner-up, but disappointing on hurdle debut in November. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (11) (50/1 -150%)Times Are Green |
50/1(-150%) | (11) Times Are Green 50/1, Improved up in trip when second, beaten 11l, in a novice hurdle at Chepstow last time; effective at 3m on good to soft; progressive and unexposed as a stayer. 11l 2nd at Chepstow in a race that lacked depth; a place is probably the best to hope for. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (13) (40/1 -122%)Trade War |
40/1(-122%) | (13) Trade War 40/1, Made mistakes and was outpaced when fourth, beaten 11l, in a novice hurdle here last time; off a short break; handles soft ground and likely to improve up in trip. Has shown ability and this longer trip may suit but a sizeable step forward is needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) (50/1 0%)Eaststone Buck's |
50/1(0%) | (3) Eaststone Buck's 50/1, Again ran to a modest level when comfortably held in a novice hurdle at Leicester last time; type to fare better once handicapping. Pulled up/tailed off on his two starts and modest handicaps beckon. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (12) (150/1 -275%)Tom Desjy |
150/1(-275%) | (12) Tom Desjy 150/1, Poor hurdles debut when down the field in a maiden hurdle at Huntingdon last time; trainer in form but needs to bounce back. Point runner-up in April 2024 but tailed off over hurdles last month after long absence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (125/1 +0%)Manhattan Valley |
125/1(+0%) | (8) Manhattan Valley 125/1, Outpaced and never threatened when well beaten in a maiden hurdle at Hereford last time; acts on good to soft; likely to need further in time. Point winner but tailed off at triple-figure odds on his three hurdle starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) (250/1 -100%)The Moonlight Man |
250/1(-100%) | (10) The Moonlight Man 250/1, Improved up in trip when fourth, beaten 24l, in a novice hurdle at Chepstow last time; effective at 3m in points; looks one for low-grade handicaps. Point winner but big prices and pulled up/soundly beaten on his two hurdle starts. |

Last season's EBF Final runner-up OFF THE JURY has posted two creditable efforts in defeat since joining Mickey Bowen and appears poised to open his account. A reproduction of the seven-year-old's latest second at Ascot could prove strong enough and he edges the vote over Giantsgrave, who is entitled to build on his third-placed hurdling debut at Lingfield. Bobby's Nelson is the pick of the remainder.

Today could well be the day for OFF THE JURY, who has been frustrating to follow but has leading form claims. Giantsgrave is feared.

1st (4) (4/5 +51%)Santo Sospir |
4/5(+51%) | (4) Santo Sospir 4/5, Showed improvement when landing a Punchestown maiden hurdle by a length last time. Effective from 2m to 2m4f and handles soft ground. Open to further progress over hurdles. Debut bumper winner kept on well to win over 2m3f last time; drop back in trip a concern. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (6/1 +25%)Baby Kate |
6/1(+25%) | (5) Baby Kate 6/1, From a yard that has won three of the last four renewals. Made mistakes, was outpaced, and needed the run when well held in the Grabel Mares Hurdle (Listed) at Punchestown last time. Effective between 2m and 2m2f on soft or good ground; should strip fitter now. Dual bumper winner in 2023 was tailed off at Punchestown on return, which raises questions. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (28/1 -40%)Icare Desbois |
28/1(-40%) | (2) Icare Desbois 28/1, Made mistakes and disappointed on his hurdles return when finishing down the field in a Leopardstown handicap. Blinkers are applied for the first time. Effective at 2m and had been consistent over hurdles before that effort. Bumper/hurdle winner has looked out of form in recent Flat and hurdles runs. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (200/1 -203%)Marlpark |
200/1(-203%) | (3) Marlpark 200/1, Pulled up in a Naas handicap chase last time and is returning from a lengthy absence. C&D hurdles winner may find ground on the soft side. Faces a tough task here. C&D maiden hurdle winner in 2024 has a lot to find on ratings. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (1) (7/4 +0%)Charlus |
7/4(+0%) | (1) Charlus 7/4, The yard has won three of the last four runnings of this race. Travelled strongly but was out-battled late by a stablemate when second, beaten 2 1/2l in a Conditions Hurdle at Punchestown last time. Effective over 2m and handles soft ground; improving over hurdles. The choice of Townend following runner-up finish at Punchestown last time; big chance. |

Santo Sospir showed a likeable attitude to repel all challengers to get off the mark over hurdles in November and Gordon Elliott's bumper winner has plenty of scope for improvement. Baby Kate struggled in Listed company last time and will find this easier, but stablemate CHARLUS might be the one. Willie Mullins' charge is rated in the 90s on the Flat and shaped with promise when returning to the smaller obstacles when second at Punchestown last month. His rating of 132 sets a fair standard and he looks the one to beat.

1/3(+0%) | (5) Onlyforfrankie 1/3, Promising hurdle debut when 6l third in a maiden hurdle at Hereford most recent run; effective at 2m; Irish bumper winner who should improve on that debut effort. Looked good in an Irish bumper and positives to take from his two runs in Britain. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

In a good yard but has struggled badly (twice over hurdles) since his encouraging debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

150/1(-88%) | (9) Galactic Princess 150/1, Pulled up in a novice hurdle here latest; wears a hood for the first time; showed minor promise in points but has plenty to prove under rules. Point second doesn't amount to much; 50-1 when pulled up here nine days ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (25/1 +69%)Hard Stare |
25/1(+69%) | (3) Hard Stare 25/1, Outpaced but improved without threatening when down the field in a maiden hurdle at Wincanton most recent; effective at 2m on good ground; can do better over hurdles judged on point win but likely better over further in handicaps. Initial promise but two tailed-off runs over hurdles now leave him with much to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (33/1 -175%)Trooper |
33/1(-175%) | (7) Trooper 33/1, Ran to form when fourth beaten 4l in a handicap at Dusseldorf latest; flat winner in Germany; market may prove best guide starting out over hurdles. Had plenty of Flat racing on the continent, going 5-25; should stay the trip okay. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (8) (18/1 -80%)Victors Spirit |
18/1(-80%) | (8) Victors Spirit 18/1, Far too free and stopped quickly on a poor debut when down the field in a maiden at Wolverhampton most recent; had been in good form prior in bumpers; sound surface will suit; not ruled out on hurdle debut. Tailed off on the AW last month but was runner-up in two bumpers during the summer. |

Onlyforfrankie made a pleasing start to life over hurdles at Hereford and is one of the more appealing options in what looks a moderate heat, as is Constantinian, who finished second over that same C&D in November. That being said, a chance can be taken on VICTORS SPIRIT. Things didn't work out for him on the level last month, but Neil King's gelding had shown clear ability in a couple of bumpers previously and might benefit from a switch to hurdles.

This looks a good opportunity for ONLYFORFRANKIE who sets the standard, on both his bumper form and the run in a Hereford maiden.

1st (1) (12/1 -71%)Pour Les Filles |
12/1(-71%) | (1) Pour Les Filles 12/1, Pulled up in the Brown Lad Handicap Hurdle (Listed) at Naas last time after never travelling and not handling the ground. Off a short break, effective around 2m4f with cut, and may do better now chasing for a new yard. Left Gordon Elliott after two disappointing hurdle runs; now chasing for new stable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (9/4 +25%)Largy Belter |
9/4(+25%) | (3) Largy Belter 9/4, Keen and given too much to do when finishing 3 1/2l third in a beginners' chase at Haydock on his latest start. |F| (2) (1/1 -10%)Juby Ball |
1/1(-10%) | (2) Juby Ball 1/1, Rallied gamely and improved back from a break when winning a beginners' chase at Carlisle by a neck last time. Effective at 2m on soft ground and should progress further over fences after that run. 2-2 over hurdles; battled well to score on chase debut; still has considerable potential. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (4/1 +20%)Alentejo |
4/1(+20%) | (4) Alentejo 4/1, Well below form when finishing down the field in a handicap hurdle at Compiegne on his most recent run. Wears blinkers for the first time after a wind operation, effective at 2m2f with cut, and faces a stiff task on British debut. 3-12 over hurdles in France; makes British/chase debut after long absence; blinkers added. |

Juby Ball is sure to prove popular given his upward trajectory and he displayed a willing attitude when holding on to make a winning chase bow at Carlisle. However, an official rating of 129 does demand more on his handicap debut and it could be worth chancing LARGY BELTER. Dan Skelton's charge posted his best effort to date when finishing third at Haydock and he may prove to be better treated. The ex-French Alentejo is also worth a second look.

A promising novice hurdler last season, JUBY BALL can almost certainly better the bare form of his hard-fought chase win in November.

150/1(+25%) | (6) Ballingurteen 150/1, Outpaced and never a factor when down the field in a maiden hurdle at Limerick; this test likely to prove too sharp. Placed in sole point, heavy defeats both starts over hurdles, one for handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (13) (16/1 -14%)Hilltop Duchess |
16/1(-14%) | (13) Hilltop Duchess 16/1, Outpaced and never a factor when down the field in a maiden hurdle at Navan; off a short break; a 3m point winner who acts on soft ground and may require more time and further over hurdles. Point winner, made no impression in first two maiden hurdles, may find level in h'caps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (16) (300/1 -50%)Madam Elle |
300/1(-50%) | (16) Madam Elle 300/1, Made mistakes but showed some improvement from debut when down the field in a maiden hurdle at Limerick; major improvement required. Huge odds and never sighted in two maiden hurdles, hard to fancy on form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (7) (300/1 -50%)Barrowline |
300/1(-50%) | (7) Barrowline 300/1, Never threatened when down the field in a maiden hurdle at Limerick; likely to appreciate longer trips later on. 0-6 in points, huge odds and ran accordingly in two maiden hurdles, safe to rule out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (9) (150/1 +0%)Boston Breeze |
150/1(+0%) | (9) Boston Breeze 150/1, Never threatened when well beaten in a maiden hurdle at Punchestown on her only start; likely to need more time. Glimmer of ability on hurdles debut at Punchestown, much more needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

300/1(-50%) | (12) Down Your Way 300/1, Never threatened when down the field in a maiden hurdle at Thurles; yet to find suitable conditions and has plenty to prove. Tailed off in maiden hurdles at Cork and Thurles, unlikely to be the answer here. |

300/1(-50%) | (11) Del Boys Diva 300/1, Ran poorly when down the field in a maiden hurdle at Thurles; yet to find suitable conditions and has all to prove. No impact in a pair of 2m maiden hurdles at Thurles, handicaps beckon. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
16th (17) (100/1 +0%)Question Asked |
100/1(+0%) | (17) Question Asked 100/1, Westerner mare; half-sister to Born In Borris, very useful at 16f. Likely one for further down the line. Westerner mare, half-sister to two Rules' winners, likely best watched on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (125/1 -150%)Baymount |
125/1(-150%) | (8) Baymount 125/1, Far too keen and ran poorly when well beaten on debut in a mares' bumper at Thurles; has plenty to find starting out over hurdles. Midfield on debut in Thurles bumper last month, may need more time, watch. |

This isn't the deepest of contests and it might present an opportunity for SHODA to break her hurdling duck. Joseph O'Brien's mare has finished third on all three of her starts over timber, including in a Grade 3, so, whilst many need to find improvement, it's unlikely she'll need to run to an exceptionally high level. Shadys Lady bolted up in a Naas bumper in November and is of definite interest now sent hurdling, along with Radiator Springs, who finished a creditable third on her first start under Rules.

SHODA shaped nicely after a break in a Leopardstown maiden hurdle last month and she won here on the Flat in September

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (13/8 +46%)Explode |
13/8(+46%) | (8) Explode 13/8, Went clear and was made too much use of when improving from debut to finish fourth beaten 12l in a juvenile hurdle at Newbury last time; effective at 2m and can do better with more restrained tactics. Useful on the Flat; clear at one stage before going down by 12l at Newbury. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (5/1 +90%)Monsun Climate |
5/1(+90%) | (5) Monsun Climate 5/1, Improved from debut but had too much to do when comfortably held in a novice hurdle at Ludlow last time; effective at 2m on soft ground; point form suggests longer distances may suit. Looked poor but his 15l defeat behind a good one at Ludlow was very encouraging. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (9/1 +82%)Lydeard Girl |
9/1(+82%) | (7) Lydeard Girl 9/1, Rallied gamely and ran to form when comfortably held in a novice hurdle here last time; effective at 2m on good ground; consistent but looks one for handicaps. Beaten a shade under 20l in two C&D novices this winter so she has a degree of ability. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (200/1 -60%)Marhaba Million |
200/1(-60%) | (4) Marhaba Million 200/1, Made mistakes and ran poorly when down the field in a novice hurdle here last time; second run after a wind operation; regressive on the Flat and has plenty to prove over hurdles. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (80/1 -100%)Anthracite |
80/1(-100%) | (1) Anthracite 80/1, Below form after an absence when beaten 6 1/4l in a handicap at Windsor last time; largely poor on flat; returns from a very long layoff and faces a tough task on hudle debut. Low-grade Flat form in four races at up to 1m2f and he's returning from a long absence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (150/1 -275%)Dino Moon |
150/1(-275%) | (3) Dino Moon 150/1, Outpaced and modest on debut when well beaten in a bumper at Ascot on his only start; that a good race but difficult to fancy on hurdle debut. Made debut in a bumper at Ascot but went off 28-1 and trailed in last. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) (66/1 -32%)I'll Give It A Go |
66/1(-32%) | (10) I'll Give It A Go 66/1, Keen and made too much use of when finishing down the field in a handicap at Nottingham last time; consistent on flat prior to that; yard has done well with similar types; returning from a long layoff and market can guide on hurdle debut. Placed on the Flat for James Owen but at a modest level; stamina not guaranteed. |

POURQUOI PAS PAPA was no match for one that went on to contest the Coral Finale Juvenile Hurdle last month. That rival went on to disappoint that day but it sets a decent standard nonetheless and, with improvement likely, he is fancied to go one place better. Crest Of Stars hit the frame at Plumpton latest and may well be capable of better himself, while similar comments apply to Explode, who has yet to show his best since making the switch to hurdles.

The suggestion is POURQUOI PAS PAPA, who probably chased home a very good horse at Sandown. Explode is second choice.

12/1(-140%) | (6) Our Dylan 12/1, Returned to form when winning a handicap by 1/2l off a 5lb lower mark at Wincanton last time; effective from 2m to 2m4f on soft or good ground; in form and unpenalised. 10yo who has career-high mark but beat 13 rivals to win at Wincanton latest; respected. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (11/2 +27%)Hot Goddess |
11/2(+27%) | (5) Hot Goddess 11/2, Ran slightly below form when 3l third in a maiden hurdle at Lingfield last time; effective around 2m4f on soft or good to soft ground and may still have more to offer. Open to improvement and Harry Atkins removes a useful 7lb on handicap debut; chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (11) (9/2 +55%)Mumbles |
9/2(+55%) | (11) Mumbles 9/2, Returned to form when beaten 3l by a well-handicapped rival off a 4lb lower mark at Chepstow last time; effective at 2m4f and suited by plenty of cut; well treated if maintaining that form. Runner-up to a handicap blot at Chepstow in November and he's in calculations. |

7th (3) (40/1 -100%)Aaron |
40/1(-100%) | (3) Aaron 40/1, Pulled up in a novice hurdle at Chepstow last time; effective from 2m to 2m4f on heavy or soft; needs to find more to figure. Showed ability on first 2 hurdle starts (including C&D); improvement needed on h'cap debut. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (28/1 +0%)I Am Spider Man |
28/1(+0%) | (9) I Am Spider Man 28/1, Took a step back in the right direction when beaten 10l in a handicap hurdle at Taunton last time; effective from 2m4f to 3m and on a fair mark if able to bounce back. Taunton last week was a step back in the right direction but he needs another today. |

Although she needs to brush up on her jumping, THERE RUNS MARY is bred to relish this rise in distance. An opening mark of 109 looks workable given her latest third behind a subsequent winner at Leicester and she can get her head back in front. Hot Goddess has acquitted herself with credit in all three maiden hurdle runs and she's feared most, ahead of Wincanton scorer Our Dylan.

The step up in trip could be a good move for handicap debutante THERE RUNS MARY (nap) who can make it three wins from her five starts.

400/1(-100%) | (13) Wings Of Zeus 400/1, Pulled up in a maiden hurdle at Cork last time; has everything to prove. 200-1 when pulled up at Cork on debut; hard to fancy. |

Gordon Elliott has enjoyed an excellent festive period which could extend into the New Year courtesy of SPECULATEUR. The son of No Risk At All made a satisfactory introduction in a bumper at Punchestown but hurdling ought to be more his game and the standard set is far from daunting. Willie Mullins arrives mob-handed with three, of which point runner-up King Of Aces could be his leading hope. That being said, Paul Townend seemingly prefers the returning Gorvitho. Whatsanotheryear sets the standard but will likely need improvement if he is to come out on top.

This may not take much to win and SPECULATEUR gets the vote to leave her rules debut behind and make a winning start over hurdles

1st (1) (11/4 +39%)Hypotenus |
11/4(+39%) | (1) Hypotenus 11/4, Taken on up front and made too much use of when well beaten in a handicap chase at Ludlow last time. Had been in good form before that, effective at 2m, suited by a sound surface, and looks well treated on old Irish form with easy lead possible. Remains winless over fences and only seventh at Ludlow latest; sort to bounce back though. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (7/2 -218%)Irish Chorus |
7/2(-218%) | (2) Irish Chorus 7/2, Improved markedly with better jumping when landing a handicap by 2l off a 2lb lower mark at Leicester last time. Effective at 2m and acts on good ground; a 2lb rise seems lenient with more to come over fences. Overcame some mistakes to score at Leicester 29 days ago; has more to offer so big shout. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (6/5 +52%)Juggernaut |
6/5(+52%) | (3) Juggernaut 6/5, Had too much to do after being badly hampered and is worth marking up significantly when fourth, beaten 9l, in a handicap chase at Wincanton last time. Effective from 2m to 2 1/4m, acts on soft and good ground, and remains consistent and competitive. Arrives in good nick without winning over fences; ought to be thereabouts again eased 1lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (12/1 +25%)O'grady's Hill |
12/1(+25%) | (5) O'grady's Hill 12/1, Taken on up front and made too much use of when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Ludlow last time, a run she needed. Capable of getting involved if building on that effort starting out over fences on favourable good ground. Off 14 months before beating one on yard debut at Ludlow latest; bit to prove now chasing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (10/1 +38%)Ballybeen |
10/1(+38%) | (4) Ballybeen 10/1, Pulled up in a handicap chase at Ffos Las last time after a short break. Effective at around 2 1/2m and acts on any ground, but recent form has tailed off and he has plenty to prove. Failed to fire in a couple of runs for his current yard, pulled up at Ffos Las latest. |

Irish Chorus overcame a tendency to jump left when winning at Leicester in early December and she may well be able to follow up from just 2lb higher. However, these fences can be unforgiving and there is risk attached. With that in mind, it might be worth chancing the consistent JUGGERNAUT, who is still learning over fences and could be the one to capitalise if staying right-handed causes Irish Chorus problems. Hypotenus is the pick of the rest.

Alan King's IRISH CHORUS still looked a work in progress over fences when scoring at Leicester last time and can defy a 2lb weights rise

5/2(-100%) | (3) Itseemslikeit 5/2, Made a strong start over fences, improving to land a handicap by 7l off a 7lb lower mark at Uttoxeter last time. Effective up to 3m and handles heavy and soft ground. More to come. Won comfortably by 7l on last month's seasonal/chase debut; makes obvious appeal. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (33/1 +0%)Karuma Grey |
33/1(+0%) | (5) Karuma Grey 33/1, Pulled up in a handicap chase at Bangor-on-Dee last time. Effective between 2m4f and 2m6f on heavy or soft ground but struggling for form. Shock course winner for another stable last season but subsequent form has been poor. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (10/3 +26%)Hunter Legend |
10/3(+26%) | (1) Hunter Legend 10/3, Returned to form when dropped in class and stepped up in trip on easy ground, beaten 2l off this mark at Ludlow last time. Effective from 2m4f to 3m and suited by cut. Not the easiest ride but back in form. Close third in tactical race at Ludlow last month; remains on a workable mark; big player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (10/1 -150%)Astronomic View |
10/1(-150%) | (6) Astronomic View 10/1, Below form but saw out the trip when 28l third in a handicap chase at Exeter last time. Effective from 2m4f to 3m but needs to bounce back, yet to match hurdle form. Didn't run badly in 3m6f Exeter marathon last month; this drop back in trip will suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (9/2 +50%)Hurricane Highway |
9/2(+50%) | (4) Hurricane Highway 9/2, Needed the run and likely found the ground too quick when well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Market Rasen last time. Effective from 2m4f to 3m with cut, and a return to chasing may suit. Ran well here last season but returns here with quite a bit to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (11/2 +66%)Stellar Stream |
11/2(+66%) | (8) Stellar Stream 11/2, Pulled up in a handicap chase at Hereford last time. Effective beyond 3m and suited by cut, but appears to be regressing. Placed over C&D two runs ago but far too inconsistent to rely upon nowadays. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (12/1 -33%)Not Sure |
12/1(-33%) | (7) Not Sure 12/1, Ran to form when second, beaten 8l in a handicap chase at Hexham last time. Effective up to 3m and handles soft and good ground. Respected. Absent since Hexham second last May but returns on good mark and with conditions suitable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (12/1 +33%)Strackan |
12/1(+33%) | (2) Strackan 12/1, Pulled up in a handicap chase at Aintree last time after a short break. Effective around 3m with cut and may benefit from a drop in grade. Three hurdle wins last season; bled from the nose and was pulled up on last two outings. |

ITSEEMSLIKEIT had plenty in hand when scoring by seven lengths over 3m at Uttoxeter last month and David Pipe's gelding is very hard to oppose on the back of that performance, despite a 7lb rise. Hunter Legend showed much more when third at Ludlow most recently and he cannot be discounted, while Not Sure is another to arrive with valid form claims.

Preference is for HUNTER LEGEND, who comes here after a good effort at Ludlow and might still have some untapped potential over 3m.

8/1(+60%) | (6) Courtbrack Boy 8/1, Too free in front when down the field in a Thurles handicap hurdle latest; off a short break; effective at 2m on good ground; must settle and jump better. Improved on h'cap debut to take fourth in Sept' but didn't build on that at Thurles latest. |

10/3(+0%) | (13) Wild Wild Wind 10/3, Travelled well and improved handling the testing ground when beaten 1½l off a 4lb lower mark here last time; effective at 2m; a maiden improving at a modest level. 4lb rise for runner-up finish behind Finnicky Filly here last time is harsh but in the mix. |

4th (3) (25/1 +0%)Humble Brag |
25/1(+0%) | (3) Humble Brag 25/1, Disappointing on testing ground when down the field in a Gowran Park maiden hurdle latest; off a short break; effective at 2½m on good ground but the trip may be sharp. Tailed off in opening three m'dens and best watched unless market speaks. |

6th (1) (3/1 +14%)Gino Bella |
3/1(+14%) | (1) Gino Bella 3/1, Ran to form when second, beaten 13l by a handicap blot in a Fairyhouse handicap hurdle last time; effective from 2m to 2½m and appears to be running into form. Point winner in Nov' has backed that up with two good placed finishes under rules. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (18/1 +28%)Global Skies |
18/1(+28%) | (2) Global Skies 18/1, Never threatened when down the field in a Navan maiden hurdle last time; effective at 2m and a flat winner who needs more to figure off this mark in handicaps. 78-rated Flat winner has made little impression in three hurdle runs; others preferred. |

8th (11) (22/1 +56%)Nobody |
22/1(+56%) | (11) Nobody 22/1, Never threatened when down the field in a Limerick handicap hurdle last time; yet to show any ability over hurdles. Triple-figure odds for all seven 2025 starts and ran like it; of little appeal. |

11/1(+21%) | (12) Atlantic Wonder 11/1, May have found the ground too testing when comfortably held in a Naas handicap chase last time; effective at 2m and acts on yielding and good ground; inconsistent performer remains a maiden and is best watched. Returned from a lengthy absence with two runs over fences; well h'capped on best form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (8) (33/1 +18%)Diamonds Diva |
33/1(+18%) | (8) Diamonds Diva 33/1, Pulled up in a Thurles handicap chase last time; wears blinkers for the first time; off a short break; effective at 2m6f and acts with cut and on good ground but arrives in poor form. PU in three of last five runs inc' in a point latest; blinkers on now but best watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (11/2 -38%)Finnicky Filly |
11/2(-38%) | (9) Finnicky Filly 11/2, Travelled strongly and won cosily, showing improvement and proving she handles testing ground when landing a handicap by 1½l off a 7lb lower mark here last time; usually held up; effective at 2m on heavy and good; may have more to offer now she has won. Hit with a 7lb rise for her win here last time, but leading contender if in same form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (15) (15/2 +66%)Fernhill Fling |
15/2(+66%) | (15) Fernhill Fling 15/2, Had every chance but ran below form when well beaten in a handicap hurdle here last time; effective at 2m; an exposed maiden. Well behind Finnicky Filly and Wild Wild Wind here last time, so fair bit to find. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (14) (25/1 +11%)Out Moll's Gap |
25/1(+11%) | (14) Out Moll's Gap 25/1, Pulled up in a Cork maiden hurdle latest; yet to show any ability and may want further in time. Tailed off in opening m'dens and PU at Cork on return; handicap debutant. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) (40/1 -82%)Crypto Crash |
40/1(-82%) | (10) Crypto Crash 40/1, Made mistakes and ran below form when down the field in a Cork maiden hurdle last time; effective at 2m; needs more now entering handicaps. Flat maiden and soundly beaten in opening three runs over hurdles; handicap debutant. |

Gino Bella kept on all the way to the line when second over 2m4f at Fairyhouse last month and could have more to offer on just her fourth handicap start, especially with Eoin Staples claiming a handy 5lb. However, FINNICKY FILLY beat Wild Wild Wind by over a length over track and trip on her latest outing and that might prove to be the key piece of form to focus on. John Ryan's mare won going away that day and can confirm that form, despite the revised terms.

Making just her eighth start under rules, GINO BELLA (nap) has been knocking on the door and may make the breakthrough

13/2(-95%) | (1) Brave Knight 13/2, The yard has won two of the last five runnings of this race. Scored by 15l off a 7lb lower mark at Fontwell on his penultimate start and returns from a short break. Effective at 2m on good ground but yet to prove stamina; revised mark demands more. Beaten with no penalty at Fontwell two months ago and he's now 7lb higher. |

2nd (4) (18/5 +20%)Celtic Art |
18/5(+20%) | (4) Celtic Art 18/5, Returned to form when winning readily up in trip at this sharp track, landing a handicap by 3l off a 6lb lower mark here last time. Effective from 2m to 2m3f and acts on soft and good to soft. Unreliable type who likes the track but has never won off a mark this high. 3l too good for American Sniper here last time; up 6lb but big shout if in the same form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (28/1 -100%)Bluegrass |
28/1(-100%) | (2) Bluegrass 28/1, Raced wide at a sharp track and failed to find much when well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Huntingdon last time. Effective at 2m and acts on soft but prefers good ground. Was in fair form until latest; sharp tracks seem to suit best given flat speed. Has his off days but knows how to win races and he's on a competitive mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (4/1 +20%)American Sniper |
4/1(+20%) | (3) American Sniper 4/1, Ran to form when benefiting from an easy lead, beaten 3l off a 1lb lower mark here last time. Effective over 2 1/2–3m. A useful handicap hurdler who looks on a workable mark if building on that recent revival. Has won over 3m so latest second over 2m3f at Taunton can be viewed positively. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (10/3 +67%)Him Malaya |
10/3(+67%) | (9) Him Malaya 10/3, The yard has won two of the last five runnings of this race. Ran to form when fourth, beaten 5l in a handicap hurdle here last time. Effective from 2m to 2 1/2m and acts on good ground. Generally consistent performer. Kept on to be under 5l behind Celtic Art over C&D last month; considered each-way. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (11/1 +39%)Time Interval |
11/1(+39%) | (8) Time Interval 11/1, Found the ground too soft when well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Hereford last time. Cheekpieces on for the first time. Effective at 2m and suited by good ground, though may not stay 2 1/2m. Back on his last winning mark and likely to benefit from a sharp track. Out of form in the autumn but back on better ground here with cheekpieces added. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (9/1 -38%)Benvoy |
9/1(-38%) | (5) Benvoy 9/1, Returned to form when making all at a sharp track, landing a handicap by 1l off a 3lb lower mark at Huntingdon last time. Wears a visor for the first time. Effective at 2m on good or good to soft. Back in form after a wind operation and remains competitive. Second run after a wind op when winning at Huntingdon; visor on for blinkers. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (10/1 -54%)Breezethroughlife |
10/1(-54%) | (6) Breezethroughlife 10/1, Improved when stepped up in trip on handicap debut, beaten 1 1/4l off a 2lb lower mark at Doncaster last time. Effective from 2m to 3m and acts on good ground. More to come as a staying type. Beaten by an 11yo on handicap debut and that was at 3m; he's improving, though. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (22/1 -100%)Fight My Fire |
22/1(-100%) | (7) Fight My Fire 22/1, A bit too free but ran to form on handicap debut when fourth, beaten 6 1/2l in a handicap hurdle at Sandown latest. Effective at 2m and acts on good to soft. In good form overall. Fair handicap debut at Sandown but this stiffer stamina test might not benefit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) (25/1 +11%)Zhang Fei |
25/1(+11%) | (10) Zhang Fei 25/1, Keen and found little when well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Kempton last time. Effective at 2m but has been inconsistent of late. It's been a quiet return back with former yard and he has a strike-rate of just 3-43. |

CELTIC ART had something in hand when winning over C&D last month and a 6lb higher mark looks manageable given his potential to progress further over this trip. American Sniper finished three lengths behind the selection that day but has a decent chance of turning the form around on revised terms. Breezethroughlife, Benvoy and Him Malaya are others that have been in good heart lately and help make this a competitive affair.

A chance is taken on TIME INTERVAL who could stage a revival back on forecast drier ground and with cheekpieces added.

9/2(+36%) | (4) Bombay Pete 9/2, Outpaced, too much to do, never put into the race on handicap debut comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Aintree last time; suited by 3m; unexposed over staying trips, more to come when ridden more positively. Attracted support last time (handicap debut) and is evidently thought capable of better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (28/1 -12%)Benny Baloo |
28/1(-12%) | (8) Benny Baloo 28/1, Failed to find much when comfortably held in a handicap chase here last time; cheekpieces applied for the first time; returns from a short break and needs to improve. Point/chase winner; enough to prove back over hurdles in first-time headgear. |

9/2(+44%) | (5) Leech 9/2, Made mistakes but ran to form when 6l third in a handicap hurdle here last time; returns after a short break; effective from 2m to 2m4f on soft ground; holding form well. Broadly consistent, mostly at Ffos Las, since switched to handicaps; frame possibilities. |

|PU| (2) (13/2 -86%)Welcheston Warrier |
13/2(-86%) | (2) Welcheston Warrier 13/2, Ran to form when second, beaten 6 1/2l, in a handicap hurdle at Market Rasen last time; trainer in good form; effective around 2m4f on soft or good to soft; inconsistent but fairly treated if building on that effort. Positive signs in handicaps this term, rallying second at Market Rasen latest; in the mix. |

LADY HENRIETTA bounced back from a fall at Southwell in November to score at Leicester the following month. A 3lb rise for that effort may underestimate the six-year-old and she tops the shortlist. Nedzor has been knocking on the door this campaign and is likely to be in the mix once again. Others to note are Welcheston Warrier, Leech and Ginderella.

Back up in distance, WELCHESTON WARRIER may well take another step forward and get off the mark. Lady Henrietta is second choice.

12/1(+33%) | (9) Hello Johnjoe 12/1, Travelled well but found less than looked likely when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse last time; effective at 2m and acts on soft; point form suggests further may suit but stamina remains unproven. Travelled strongly on h'cap debut before fading; not ruled out. |

40/1(-60%) | (13) Robindevidastar 40/1, Pulled up in a handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse last time; effective from 2m to 2 1/2m and acts on any ground; unreliable veteran performer. Two runs this year leave a lot to be desired and of little appeal on that basis. |

10th (1) (4/1 +0%)Midweek Voices |
4/1(+0%) | (1) Midweek Voices 4/1, Every chance but below form when well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Cork last time; effective over 2 1/2m and acts on soft; a fair mark on chase form and should build on that latest run. Dual chase winner should strip fitter than opening run and is 12lb lower in this sphere. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (15) (9/2 -29%)Sidiriya |
9/2(-29%) | (15) Sidiriya 9/2, Poorly placed in a race dominated from the front when beaten 6 1/4l in a handicap hurdle here last time; hood fitted first time; usually held up; effective from 2m to 2 1/2m and acts with cut; fair mark on maiden form but struggling lately. Winless over hurdles and yet to trouble the judge; 6.25l seventh latest was an improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (12) (40/1 -21%)Loulouless |
40/1(-21%) | (12) Loulouless 40/1, Made mistakes and found little when down the field in a handicap hurdle at Limerick last time; effective at 2m; yet to build on promising debut effort. Beaten a long way in all starts to date; others more likely.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (11) (12/1 +0%)Drumcliff Bay |
12/1(+0%) | (11) Drumcliff Bay 12/1, Ran to form but made a bit too much use of himself when well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Limerick last time; effective at 2 1/2m; needs to prove ability remains after long absence. Weakened into seventh at Limerick latest; big improvement needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (14/1 +30%)Arctic Piper |
14/1(+30%) | (3) Arctic Piper 14/1, Below form when well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Limerick last time; visor on for the first time; usually held up; effective at 2m with best form on heavy ground; needs plenty more. Beaten over 20l in last four completed starts; ran well in a m'den here in Feb'. |

A wide-open heat where only a tentative vote goes to BROWN BOOTS, who was never in contention to challenge when only ninth at Limerick last time. That was only his second appearance in a handicap and, off a 1lb lower mark with Brian Hayes back on board, he might be worth chancing. Connections of Arctic Piper reach for a first-time visor in the hope of bringing out some improvement and she needs considering off a career-low rating, along with Hello Johnjoe.

None make huge appeal in a modest affair, but perhaps MICKEY HULIE can improve sufficiently on handicap debut.

11/10(-106%) | (3) Unexpected Party 11/10, Pulled up in a handicap chase at Kelso last time; trainer in form; effective at 2m and acts on soft and good ground; consistent in top-end handicaps with a big class edge down in grade; tough to beat. Very useful handicapper; pulled up last time; hard to beat here if back on song. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (22/1 -38%)Fan De Blues |
22/1(-38%) | (8) Fan De Blues 22/1, Below form when fourth, beaten 43l, in a hunter chase at Kempton last time; returning from a long layoff; enjoys making the running and is effective between 2m and 2½m but has regressed after a break but well treated on these terms on old form. Very useful in his prime but both hunter chase runs last season were underwhelming. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (22/1 +0%)Dorset Diamond |
22/1(+0%) | (7) Dorset Diamond 22/1, Finished second, beaten 10l, in a conditions race at Larkhill last time; point winner; returning from a long layoff and has plenty to find. Ended 2025 with two good point runs but still makes only limited appeal on rules debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (22/1 +33%)Guy |
22/1(+33%) | (1) Guy 22/1, Didn't stay when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Newton Abbot last time; returning from a long layoff and is hard to recommend with big stamina concerns on chase return. Useful chaser in his prime but in poor form over hurdles when last seen in early 2025. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|C| (5) (9/1 +73%)Just Loose Change |
9/1(+73%) | (5) Just Loose Change 9/1, Unseated rider in a conditions race at Larkhill last time; effective at around 3m and suited by sound surface; returning from a long layoff and has plenty to prove back under rules. Won a handicap chase last season and his pointing debut in November was respectable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (2) (6/1 +20%)Stumps Or Slips |
6/1(+20%) | (2) Stumps Or Slips 6/1, Improved again when second, beaten 3/4l, in a novice hurdle at Market Rasen last time; off a short break; remains progressive over hurdles and fences; very interesting recruit to this sphere Won four times on good ground for Olly Murphy in spring/summer; rain a big worry here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (9) (80/1 +20%)Finisher |
80/1(+20%) | (9) Finisher 80/1, Below form when comfortably held in a conditions race at Larkhill last time; returning from a long layoff and former hurdles winner has plenty to find. Soundly beaten in two Larkhill points towards end of 2025; first rules run since 2021. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (5/2 +29%)A Jet Of Our Own |
5/2(+29%) | (4) A Jet Of Our Own 5/2, Ran to form when winning a conditions race at Larkhill by a length last time; held in this last year but in good form in points and under rules since; returning from a long layoff and looks a bright chasing prospect in this discipine. Honourable fifth in last season's Aintree Foxhunters' and won open point in November. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (20/1 -25%)Dorset Dazzler |
20/1(-25%) | (6) Dorset Dazzler 20/1, Improved when winning a conditions race at Larkhill by a length last time; wears a hood for the first time; returning from a long layoff and has plenty to find on rules debut. Ended 2025 with two point wins but has a lot more on his plate on this rules debut. |

It is hard to oppose UNEXPECTED PARTY now that he switches to this company. Dan Skelton's gelding won the Grand Annual in 2024 and only found one rival too good in the 2025 renewal. He was far from disgraced when giving 11lb to Steel Ally at Carlisle in November and that form puts him head and shoulders above these. A Jet Of Our Own and Stumps Or Slips complete the shortlist.

Classy handicapper UNEXPECTED PARTY will be far too good for this field if anywhere near his best.

5/1(-43%) | (2) El Gavilan 5/1, Returned to form in first-time cheekpieces when second, beaten 6l, in a handicap hurdle at Windsor last time. Trainer in form. Effective at 2m and acts on soft and good ground. Not ruled out. Resurgent effort in first-time cheekpieces at Windsor most recently; possibilities. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (5/2 +84%)Copper Cove |
5/2(+84%) | (3) Copper Cove 5/2, Pulled up in a handicap hurdle at Worcester last time after a short break. Effective from 2m to 2m4f and best with cut in the ground. Needs to show more. Far from solid on his results for new stable but is very well treated on best form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (11/2 -144%)Getaway With You |
11/2(-144%) | (1) Getaway With You 11/2, Scored by 7 1/2l off a 11lb lower mark at Lingfield penultimate start; ran to form last time, 4lb higher here; effective 2m4f-3m, acts on S, GS; thriving of late but handicapper has reacted. Needs to prove as effective back down in trip but can't be dismissed in current form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (28/1 -75%)Port Or Starboard |
28/1(-75%) | (7) Port Or Starboard 28/1, Outpaced and never threatened when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Leicester last time. Wears blinkers for the first time. Effective at 2m and acts on soft and good ground. Needs to find more and doesn't look quite the force of old. On a handy mark but seems to be out of sorts and still has a poor strike-rate. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (40/1 -150%)Daany |
40/1(-150%) | (4) Daany 40/1, Pulled up in a handicap hurdle at Hereford on latest start. Effective around 2m on a sound surface but needs to bounce back. Did well over hurdles in 2024 but achieved nothing returned to this code last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (4/1 +0%)Out Of Focus |
4/1(+0%) | (6) Out Of Focus 4/1, Ran to form when second, beaten 8 1/2l, in a handicap hurdle at Leicester last time. Effective from 2m to 2m4f and acts on heavy and soft ground. Still a maiden but well treated on old form. Rallying second at Leicester last time; nearly a stone below opening mark; in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (11/2 +8%)Man Oh Man |
11/2(+8%) | (8) Man Oh Man 11/2, Returned to form 5l third in a handicap hurdle at Taunton most recent run; effective 2m-2m4f, acts on any; unexposed for this yard, needs to build on recent revival. Ran encouragingly at Taunton (second start for new yard) last time; one to consider. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (13/2 +0%)Gavin |
13/2(+0%) | (5) Gavin 13/2, Made too much use of down the field in a handicap hurdle at Chepstow most recent; suited by 2m, no further, needs sound surface; likes to dominate. Has regressed elsewhere in last three outings but the return to this C&D looks a plus. |

OUT OF FOCUS put in an encouraging effort when runner-up, albeit well held, at Leicester last month and Evan Williams' gelding merits plenty of respect off a 1lb lower mark here. El Gavilan's second at Windsor a week ago suggests that he could play a big role in a race of this nature, while Man Oh Man is another to consider.

With the cheekpieces retained, EL GAVILAN may build on his Windsor effort and register a first success. Out Of Focus is second pick.

1st (5) (9/2 +59%)Broomfield Gale |
9/2(+59%) | (5) Broomfield Gale 9/2, Travelled well but needed the run and may have found the ground too soft when well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Exeter last time. Effective around 2 1/2m, acts on good to soft and good ground, and after a career-best summer campaign, is on a fair mark to build on that effort. Began this season in good form but may find 2m a bit sharp and doesn't want rain. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (14/1 -27%)Best Night |
14/1(-27%) | (1) Best Night 14/1, Made too much use of when stepped up in trip and failed to get home, finishing down the field in a handicap hurdle at Exeter most recently. Effective at 2m, acts on soft and good ground, but yet to show signs of the wind operation working. Won on British debut in September but subsequent form has been disappointing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (10/1 +44%)Ruler Of The River |
10/1(+44%) | (7) Ruler Of The River 10/1, Pulled up in a handicap hurdle at Leicester on her latest outing, her second run after wind surgery. Effective between 2m and 2m4f, acts on any ground, but needs to bounce back. Won on stable debut in September but very little has gone to plan since; headgear switched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (3/1 -20%)Getmetothemoon |
3/1(-20%) | (2) Getmetothemoon 3/1, Won by 2 1/4l off a 4lb lower mark at Stratford three starts ago. Returned to form up in trip when third, beaten 5l off 98 last time, and is 1lb higher here. Effective at 2m, acts on soft and good ground, generally consistent with a fair mark. Scored on good ground in October and last month's soft-ground third was also a good effort. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (16/1 -14%)L'inoubliable |
16/1(-14%) | (9) L'inoubliable 16/1, Flattened out after a late error and was comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter last time. Yet to prove she can handle this opening mark. Soundly beaten in two slow-ground handicaps this season and now 0-5. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (80/1 -627%)Getarose |
80/1(-627%) | (3) Getarose 80/1, From a yard that won this last year. Outpaced and disappointing on handicap debut when finishing down the field in a hurdle here most recently. Related to useful performers up to 2m4f and while her penultimate run was franked, her mark demands more. Ran poorly on handicap debut but her first two hurdle runs were quite promising. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (11/4 +86%)Jukebox Annie |
11/4(+86%) | (8) Jukebox Annie 11/4, Had no obvious excuse when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle here last time. Effective at 2m and acts on good to soft and good ground, but has been struggling in handicaps. Ran quite well over 2m3f here in November but others have more pressing claims. |

BLUENOSE BELLE's winning run came to an end when filling second place on her return over 2m at Ludlow in November. However, she could return to winning ways with the benefit of that outing under her belt. Getmetothemoon has to be respected following a promising third over 2m4f at Wincanton last time, while similar comments apply to East End Girl.

The pick is EAST END GIRL (nap), who was third in a big field on soft going last month and can do better if conditions are quicker here.

Kept on for close fourth over 5f on debut and could take a big step forward now at 6f. |

5/2(+62%) | (7) Sparksmith 5/2, Knew his job and produced a solid effort when third, beaten 5 1/4l, in a novice at Lingfield on debut; effective at 6f and should stay 7f; acts on the all-weather and looks open to improvement. 65,000euros breeze-up buy; 3rd of five on debut; could show the benefit of that experience. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (9/1 -200%)Allegrino |
9/1(-200%) | (8) Allegrino 9/1, Improved on a modest debut when second, beaten a short head, in a novice at Kempton last time; returning from a short break; effective at 6f on the all-weather; strong chance again. Short-headed at Kempton on second start and in good hands to continue to progress. |

33/1(-450%) | (12) Preferred 33/1, Masar filly; half-sister to Byefornow, useful at 5f as a 2yo; dam was useful at 6f; from a strong yard but likely to need the experience. Makes debut in what looks an ordinary contest and with her yard in flying form; respected. |

5th (9) (10/1 +17%)Havana Jag |
10/1(+17%) | (9) Havana Jag 10/1, Didn't stay up in trip when contesting a fast pace and finished fourth, beaten 3l, in a nursery at Wolverhampton last time; trainer in form; suited by 5f and acts on the all-weather; return to the minimum trip should help. Has shown ability but 0-5 and this exposed filly may again be vulnerable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (9/2 -13%)Gennadius |
9/2(-13%) | (1) Gennadius 9/2, Ran to form when second, beaten 1 1/4l, in a maiden at Catterick last time; returning from a break; drawn wide; effective from 6f to 8f and acts on soft and good to firm; consistent and should go well. 0-11; placed nine times; in the mix if at the top of his game after four months off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (13/2 +46%)Rawson |
13/2(+46%) | (6) Rawson 13/2, Showed good awareness and put in a fair effort when third, beaten 12l, in a maiden at Southwell on debut; made too much use of early; effective at 7f on the all-weather and should improve. Showed pace when third over 7f on debut and could be involved now dropped to 6f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) (14/1 +58%)Special Acclaim |
14/1(+58%) | (2) Special Acclaim 14/1, Stepped back from debut when beaten 10l in a novice at Wolverhampton last time; effective at 6f on the all-weather; may do better when switched to handicaps. Unable to threaten when fifth on both starts (including C&D); improvement is necessary. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (11) (80/1 -264%)Nautical Sky |
80/1(-264%) | (11) Nautical Sky 80/1, Twilight Son filly; half-sister to Harbour Beacon, a useful performer up to 11f; drawn wide and looks an unlikely winner on debut. Half-sister to six winners but pedigree hints this Twilight Son newcomer may want further. |

Allegrino put a lacklustre debut effort behind her to finish an excellent second at Kempton and, with the prospect of more to come, she is entitled to go very close. However, there was lots to like about EVENEPOEL's introductory performance. Archie Watson's charge kept on well from an unpromising position and progress in anticipated, not least because a step up in trip should suit. Gennadius sets the standard with an official rating of 70 and is likely to be on the premises.

James Tate is in excellent form and saddles the debutante Preferred but this might go to EVENEPOEL now up in trip on his second run.

11th (8) (40/1 +0%)Magic Fluke |
40/1(+0%) | (8) Magic Fluke 40/1, Well below form, finishing down the field in a handicap here last time; off a short break; effective at 6/7f on AW; has been very poor for some time. It's now 20 starts since his sole success at Newcastle; others appeal more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (12) (4/1 +38%)World Of Darcy |
4/1(+38%) | (12) World Of Darcy 4/1, Step back in right direction when second beaten 2l in a handicap at Lingfield latest; suited by 6f, all best efforts with cut or on AW; chance if building on latest. Ended run of poor efforts with good Lingfield second 17 days ago; needs to back it up now. |

The vote goes to DUBAI MAGIC, who finished a narrow second at Wolverhampton recently. The daughter of Showcasing will have no issue with a switch in surface and she does have a handy draw to work with. Whilst a few of these have something to prove, she could belatedly break her maiden tag. Isla Bella and World Of Darcy both ran well last time out so must enter calculations, and spare a thought for the returning Lynwood Lad, who won a similar event at Brighton in June.

This looks a good opportunity for ISLA BELLA to build on the promise of her Wolverhampton third and gain a first win for Joey Ramsden

11/2(+45%) | (7) Port Hedland 11/2, Yard won this last year. Raced wide and again below form when beaten 4l in a handicap at Bath last time. Returning from a break; suited by an easy 5f, stays 6f, acts on AW but doesn't usually see races out. 6lb lower than when winning at Brighton last May, but with good reason; needs a revival. |

ROMAN EMPEROR bumped into an in-form rival at Lingfield and, given that he is probably more effective over 6f, compensation might await John Ryan's gelding. Analytical Engine finished second to a subsequent winner at Kempton latest so must be taken very seriously from 1lb higher and Smasher, who has proven himself to be effective on this surface, is another to keep onside.

The vote goes to ANALYTICAL ENGINE whose latest second of ten at Kempton was franked by the winner at Southwell on Sunday.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (25/1 -233%)Hedonista |
25/1(-233%) | (3) Hedonista 25/1, No-show from off the pace when beaten 7 1/2l in a handicap at Wolverhampton last time; effective over 12-16f and acts on all-weather; needs to bounce back. Sliding down the weights but unplaced in nine starts for this yard; needs a resurgence. |

4th (5) (7/1 +30%)Bloodhound |
7/1(+30%) | (5) Bloodhound 7/1, Didn't seem to stay when well beaten in a handicap at Lingfield latest; effective over 10-12f and acts on all-weather; inconsistent but the drop in trip could help. Fourth over C&D in November was one of his better recent efforts, but he is now 0-21. |

5th (1) (15/8 +44%)Haliphon |
15/8(+44%) | (1) Haliphon 15/8, Below form beaten 9 1/2l in a handicap at Southwell last time; suited by 12-16f, acts on any; on fair mark in bouncing back. Has only once been placed in 15 starts on the AW; drop in class one ray of hope. |

6th (2) (10/1 -122%)Arenas Del Tiempo |
10/1(-122%) | (2) Arenas Del Tiempo 10/1, Bit below form but with excuses comfortably held in a handicap at Lingfield last time; in good form prior; enjoys making it; effective 10-13f, acts on sound surface; bounce back needed. Won over C&D in August and may have needed the run last month; player if bouncing back. |

40/1(-21%) | (10) Nora Barnacle 40/1, Again ran to a poor level when tried in a hood and beaten 7l in a handicap at Wolverhampton last time; yet to show any worthwhile ability. Has hinted at a little ability; longer trip should suit on breeding. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) (100/1 -203%)Filligris |
100/1(-203%) | (9) Filligris 100/1, No-show from off the pace when down the field in a handicap at Lingfield most recently; blinkers on for the first time; usually held up; steps up dramatically in trip. Lightly raced and little to get excited about in six starts; blinkers on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (4) (16/1 -60%)Power Quest |
16/1(-60%) | (4) Power Quest 16/1, Again ran to moderate level well beaten in a novice at Wolverhampton latest; cheekpieces first time; usually held up; dam a winner up to 16f; type to do better now handicapping. Modest since finishing third in an Exeter bumper in October; cheekpieces on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (6) (8/1 -45%)Smokey Malone |
8/1(-45%) | (6) Smokey Malone 8/1, Lacked pace to challenge beaten 6l in a handicap here last time; effective 12-14f, acts on AW; just below last win mark. 1lb lower than when winning over 1m6f here last April; respected. |

ARENAS DEL TIEMPO won over C&D at the end of last August. Having weakened on her return at Lingfield last month, more can be expected of the Jim & Suzi Best-trained mare this time. Smokey Malone is another previous course winner that needs to be taken seriously in this company. Bloodhound and Damzon are less exposed than the selection and are notable each-way options.

It may be worth siding with SMOKEY MALONE who has dropped 1lb lower than when winning over slightly further here last spring.

1st (5) (13/8 +46%)Merrimack |
13/8(+46%) | (5) Merrimack 13/8, Stable has won two of the last five runnings of this race; ran to form when beaten 1/2l off this mark here last time; top course trainer; enjoys making the running; effective at 5/6f on all-weather. Beaten just a neck in this race last year and ran well here last Friday; strong contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (33/1 -106%)Fiorella Princess |
33/1(-106%) | (4) Fiorella Princess 33/1, Below form when dropped in trip and beaten 9l in a handicap at Southwell last time; effective at 5/6f on all-weather and still 6lb above last winning mark. In good form in the autumn but merely sixth on last two starts and needs to raise her game. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (11/1 -120%)Mumayaz |
11/1(-120%) | (2) Mumayaz 11/1, Scored by a length off a 3lb lower mark at Southwell three starts back; ran to form up in trip last time and is 1lb lower here; wide draw but effective 5-7f on all-weather; can go well again. Some good form at Southwell at the end of last year and he could be in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (7/1 +0%)Diamond Dreamer |
7/1(+0%) | (7) Diamond Dreamer 7/1, Found little up in trip beaten 7l in a handicap at Lingfield last time; effective at 5/6f, acts on GS, GF and AW; drop in trip a plus. Won off 1lb higher over C&D last March but not in the same form more recently. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (50/1 -257%)Lequinto |
50/1(-257%) | (1) Lequinto 50/1, No-show from off the pace when beaten 6l in a handicap at Goodwood last time; usually held up and returning from a break; effective over 5/6f and likes it fast; inconsistent recently. Five-time AW winner who returns from a break with his yard in good form; not ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (9/2 +25%)General Assembly |
9/2(+25%) | (3) General Assembly 9/2, Scored by 3 1/4l off an 8lb lower mark here in October; didn't see his race out when seventh last time, 1lb lower here; effective at 5/6f on all-weather; needs to bounce back. Won two in a row over C&D in the autumn and he's entitled to respect now back down in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (2/1 +40%)Speed Of Maajid |
2/1(+40%) | (6) Speed Of Maajid 2/1, Stable won this race last year; best work late when running to form beaten a length off this mark at Wolverhampton last time; suited by 5f on all-weather; more like it lately. One win from his 16 starts but runner-up in last three races and could be bang there. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (66/1 -676%)Neptune Legend |
66/1(-676%) | (8) Neptune Legend 66/1, Scored by a neck off a 2lb lower mark at Wolverhampton three starts back; ran to form when fifth last time off the same mark; effective 5-7f on all-weather; can go well again. Could give another good account but the drop back to 5f isn't an obvious plus. |

Already a dual C&D winner, GENERAL ASSEMBLY is an attractive proposition running from just 1lb above his last winning mark. A draw in stall four looks ideal for the five-year-old, whose effectiveness at this venue is a highly persuasive factor. Slow starts have blighted Speed Of Maajid of late. However, he has a good cruising speed when he gets into a rhythm and is still capable of exploiting his current mark. Mumayaz and Lequinto complete the shortlist.

Last year's runner-up MERRIMACK (nap) ran well when third over 6f here last week and can break his AW duck now back down to 5f.

1st (4) (10/11 +52%)High On Hope |
10/11(+52%) | (4) High On Hope 10/11, Ran to form beaten 3/4l off this mark at Wolverhampton last time; effective 7/8f, acts on GS, GF and AW; workable mark still. Poor strike-rate but arrives in good form and there's every chance he'll play leading role. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (5/2 -67%)Champagne Powder |
5/2(-67%) | (2) Champagne Powder 5/2, Too keen but showed good attitude to get off the mark when winning a novice here by a neck last time; effective at 7/8f and acts on all-weather; needs to settle but is better than rating if doing so. Off the mark in C&D novice last month and in calculations now back in a handicap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (7/2 +13%)Plantadream |
7/2(+13%) | (1) Plantadream 7/2, Below form beaten 5l in a handicap at Kempton last time; suited by a 8f, acts on S, G and AW; poor strike-rate but good mark if bouncing back. 11yo who is winless since 2020 but showed spark at Kempton two starts ago; not written off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (25/1 -194%)Nordic Norm |
25/1(-194%) | (3) Nordic Norm 25/1, Bit keen but ran to form beaten 2l off this mark at Lingfield last time; suited by 8f, acts on AW and probably soft; needs more. Step back in right direction on recent stable debut and in the mix if backing that up. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (40/1 +20%)Under The Sun |
40/1(+20%) | (5) Under The Sun 40/1, Another poor run back on the Flat when well beaten in a handicap here last time; effective at 7/8f and acts on all-weather; currently in poor form under both codes. Mark continues to tumble and one to watch in the betting, but 2025 turned into a struggle. |

Champagne Powder has to be respected after getting off the mark in a novice event over course and distance last month. That said, this is arguably more demanding and preference is for HIGH ON HOPE. The four-year-old was only narrowly denied when third over 7f at Wolverhampton last time and this step back up in trip should not be a problem for him. Plantadream edges out Nordic Norm to be best of the rest.

This could be a good opportunity for HIGH ON HOPE, who has been expensive to follow but has been running well.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (10/3 +56%)Noss Mayo |
10/3(+56%) | (4) Noss Mayo 10/3, Didn't stay when upped in trip and was beaten 5l in a handicap at Newcastle last time. Visor fitted for the first time. Effective at 10f and acts on all-weather. Has a chance dropped back in trip. 11-race maiden but running okay of late and has an each-way shout in a first-time visor. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (15/8 -228%)Silkies Sib |
15/8(-228%) | (1) Silkies Sib 15/8, Picked up well and showed a good attitude when landing a handicap by a nose off a 2lb lower mark at Wolverhampton last time. Cheekpieces go on for the first time; effective from 9f to 10f and acts on all-weather. Respected off the new mark. Won by a nose at Wolverhampton a fortnight ago and could have more to offer for James Owen. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (4/1 +38%)Pure Theory |
4/1(+38%) | (3) Pure Theory 4/1, Ran to her recent level when beaten 2 1/4l off this mark at Lingfield last time. Effective from 10f to 12f and acts on all-weather. Has a fair chance based on recent efforts. 0-11 but promising fourth on stable debut and one to consider on the back of that. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (11/1 +39%)Trackman |
11/1(+39%) | (6) Trackman 11/1, Again below a winning level when beaten 7l in a handicap at Lingfield last time. Effective from 11f to 14f and acts on all-weather. Needs to bounce back. Merely sixth at Lingfield last time and now 0-22; needs something extra. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (25/1 +38%)Mond |
25/1(+38%) | (7) Mond 25/1, Too keen and failed to get home when fourth, beaten 17l, in a handicap at Southwell latest. Returning from a break; effective from 10f to 12f and acts on all-weather. Regressive type. Runner-up in Lingfield classified (1m2f, turf) in June but slim pickings since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (80/1 -100%)Saint Terry |
80/1(-100%) | (5) Saint Terry 80/1, Showed little when held up and finished down the field in a handicap at Lingfield most recently. Lacks worthwhile form and is hard to fancy. Stable form is a positive and he's very lightly raced, but beaten a long way last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (40/1 +0%)Shades Of May |
40/1(+0%) | (8) Shades Of May 40/1, Showed little when held up and finished down the field in a handicap at Lingfield last time. Usually ridden patiently; effective at 6f to 7f and acts on all-weather. Out-of-form maiden. Claims are far from obvious but he's caught the eye staying on well in 7f races here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) (50/1 +0%)Mount Of Gold |
50/1(+0%) | (9) Mount Of Gold 50/1, Again ran to a poor level when finishing down the field in a handicap at Lingfield last time. Effective from 8f to 10f and acts on all-weather. Faces a tough task again. 21-race maiden who finished down the field on her two runs at Lingfield last month. |

Most of these have questions to answer, but not SILKIES SIB. James Owen's gelding beat a subsequent winner when scoring at Wolverhampton on Boxing Day and he is hard to oppose off just a 2lb higher mark here. Beachborough Girl has been running well in defeat of late and is likely to be in the mix once again, while Pure Theory and Noss Mayo complete the shortlist.

A chance is taken on SHADES OF MAY, for whom the step up in trip and return to Chelmsford might prompt a first win.
Ths is the racecard key.
