I'm On My Way found an opening mark of 79 to be within range when opening her account over 2m4f at Wincanton and a 4lb rise is unlikely to prevent another bold bid. However, she will need to settle better if she is to see out this distance, which is something that TOWNHILL should relish. Tom Lacey's charge found the drop in trip against him when third on his reappearance at Exeter and compensation could await here. Pipers Cross may fare best of the remainder.

The unexposed TOWNHILL might prove the answer to this competitive opener. The way Tom Lacey's charge rallied for third in a big field at Exeter last month suggests he could have more to come now stepping back up to around 3m. Pipers Cross made a sound start for Robbie Llewellyn when second at Bangor and could have more to offer for her new yard so she's second choice ahead of I'm On My Way and the consistent Rickety Gate.

Plenty bring some interest to this large-field handicap but the pick may be TOWNHILL, I'm On My Way and Post Chaise.

PERSONAL AMBITION likely found the testing conditions against him when a distant third in a Grade 2 at Sandown last month. Ben Pauling's inmate was quite taking prior to that disappointment when landing the spoils at Warwick and he can get back on the winning trail here. Inoui Machin receives 7lb from the selection and is feared most on his return to an extended 2m, although any market support for newcomer Skiffle Man would be interesting.

PERSONAL AMBITION struggled in a Grade 2 at Sandown but can quickly resume winning ways under a penalty dropped markedly in class. Inoui Machin didn't find much here last time but is a big player on these terms, while Zain Nights is worth another chance to build on his eye-catching hurdles debut with cheekpieces re-fitted.

Warwick winner PERSONAL AMBITION drops back in grade from a Sandown Grade 2 and is taken to defy a 7lb penalty.

Lurking towards the foot of the weights, SUPASUNRISE makes plenty of appeal for Nigel Twiston-Davies and Finn Lambert. With a line put through his penultimate effort (left rein snapped), he has been in fine form of late and everything looks in place for another bold bid. Malpas is entitled to improve for his comeback run at Carlisle and warrants respect stepping up in trip off a 3lb lower mark. Our Friend Mo, Royal Mer and Has Troke are other names to note.

MALPAS made a much better fist of things on his second try chasing back from 9 months off when third at Carlisle and has potential to do better again given his hurdles form. He gets the vote eased in class, with Royal Mer and Supasunrise feared most.

This is a drop in grade for MALPAS (nap), who made a pleasing seasonal debut at Carlisle last month and is still unexposed over fences.
Class & Speed Card

CLASSIC KING found only subsequent Listed winner Queens Gamble too good at Kempton in November and the six-year-old is likely to take all the beating in this weaker event. Linda Moon is entitled to build on her sixth-placed hurdles bow at Wincanton on Boxing Day and she could give the selection most to think about. Even though Dino Bellagio failed to fire on his opening bid over timber at Bangor in October, it's too early to write this dual bumper winner off.

CLASSIC KING built on his Wincanton hurdling debut success when runner-up to a useful mare under a penalty at Kempton in November and, with that form proving strong, he ought to take plenty of beating. Dino Bellagio completely fluffed his lines on his hurdling bow at Bangor but is surely capable of better based on his bumper exploits, with Linda Moon taken to fill the places.

This is a superb opportunity for CLASSIC KING to register his second win over hurdles. Linda Moon can follow him home.

Olly Murphy looks to have a couple of solid chances here with first-time blinkered Swinging London and IDDERGEM. Although the former is rated 10lb superior, Lewis Stones' mount has posted solid win and placed efforts at this sort of level since returning and he looks a more solid option. Parikarma drops in class and has every chance if on a going day, while Vorashann comes out top on official figures but was disappointing in a similar event at Huntingdon last time.

PARIKARMA needs to shrug off a lesser effort at Newbury last month but this marked drop in grade rates an obvious plus and, with conditions holding no fears, she's expected to bounce back. The Olly Murphy trained-pair Swinging London and Iddergem may emerge as the lead threats.

Gary Moore's mare PARIKARMA will find this much easier than her latest assignment and is selected ahead of Swinging London.

With a win over this sort of trip at Newcastle on his penultimate start, followed by a respectable second-placed finished over 2m3f here last month, CRUZ CONTROL has shown stacks of promise since switching to chasing and looks worth siding with again. Now tried in a tongue strap, the seven-year-old has just a 2lb higher mark to contend with and may prove to be too progressive for the likes of Raffle Ticket and Getaway Luv, who appeal most of the rest.

With his recent run behind him, RAFFLE TICKET got back on the up when second at Taunton last time, pulling clear of the rest, and he can build on that effort to resume winning ways. Cruz Control has shown improved form on his last 2 starts, including at this course on his latest outing, and could be the main danger, ahead of Demachine.

Raffle Ticket and Cruz Control are the conspicuously in-form candidates but DEMACHINE can make the most of this drop in class.
Class & Speed Card

JOHNNY MAC has won his last two starts, including when turning over an odds-on favourite over C&D last time, and a further 10lb hike in the ratings might not be enough to anchor him. Hunter Legend is just 3lb higher than when touched off at Ludlow in November and he is likely to be in the thick of the action again. Limetree Boy has few miles on the clock and is worth a market check at least, while Harel Du Marais cannot be ruled out either.

HUNTER LEGEND made a promising start over fences when runner-up at Ludlow in November, pulling clear of the rest, and he can open his account with improvement to come. He is taken to see off the challenge of Johnny Mac, who has won both starts since joining Matt Sheppard, while Clonakilty could yet do better as a chaser.

It's hard to get away from HUNTER LEGEND, who went down fighting when a clear second on his chasing debut at Ludlow.
Class & Speed Card

Masked Dance posted a pleasing effort when second at Ludlow and as that was her first start since undergoing wind surgery, she should have more to give. Could Be Trouble is also open to progression and rates highly after a respectable third at Aintree on Boxing Day. However, preference is for KAY TARA TARA, who is still very low-mileage over hurdles and having won over this sort of trip on her jumping debut in October, she looks the pick of the bunch on her handicap debut.

COULD BE TROUBLE has fallen plenty in the weights and shaped better than the distance beaten suggests when third behind a less exposed pair at Aintree over Christmas, tying up late on as positive ride told. She could be worth siding with to confirm the promise of that run with the forecast quicker ground here holding no fears. Masked Dance, who finished with a flourish at Ludlow back in November, and low-mileage Kay Tara Tara are others shortlisted.

The improving MASKED DANCE (nap) has been a good second on her last two starts and is taken to get off the mark at the ninth attempt.
Class & Speed Card

TOMMIE GUN showed sterling qualities to face down a challenge when he made a winning start over hurdles at Southwell last month and could be difficult to overhaul with a similarly determined effort here. A 6lb penalty makes life tougher for the selection, though, with the Gary Moore-trained Donald Llewellyn suggested as one who could capitalise if the weight becomes an issue on the likely testing ground. Wal Buck's is also considered after his respectable hurdles bow at Carlisle 24 days ago.

TOMMIE GUN found plenty for pressure to make a winning start over hurdles at Southwell last month and he can succesfully concede a penalty. Wal Buck's created a positive impression on his hurdling bow at Carlisle and is also respected, whilst six-figure purchase Dominic's Fault is most interesting 20 months on from his debut.

Preference is for TOMMIE GUN, who quickened up well to fend off a strong finisher on his hurdling debut at Southwell.
Class & Speed Card

TOM CODY has been in terrific form since reverting to the larger obstacles and a further step up in trip can eke out further improvement as he looks to land the hat-trick, following easy successes at Newcastle and Wetherby last month. Rebecca Menzies' charge is preferred to Leicester scorer Val Dancer and Lyrical Genius, who was narrowly denied over this distance at Carlisle on his penultimate outing.

FENLAND TIGER has a prolific record in handicaps and Sam England's gelding again shaped encouragingly in a race which turned into a sprint at Carlisle last time, so he's fancied to enhance his positive strike rate. Leicester winner Val Dancer and the hat-trick seeking Tom Cody are also leading players in an interesting contest.

The highly progressive TOM CODY can make it 3-3 in cheekpieces following impressive wins the last twice. Val Dancer is a danger.
Class & Speed Card

ARTEMIS KIMBO is hard to oppose after her facile success over course and distance last month and, given she was eased towards the finish that day, a 3lb higher mark hardly looks restrictive in her bid for a follow-up success. Inspiratrice is an obvious threat after she went close in a similar race at Exeter last time, while Galice Macalo and Terresita may have to settle for scrapping it out as the best of the rest.

If the form of INSPIRATRICE's latest Exeter second to a useful rival is taken at face value she looks on a good mark now moving into a handicap. Last month's C&D scorer Artemis Kimbo is the obvious danger.

After splitting higher-rated rivals when second in a novice chase last month, INSPIRATRICE is well handicapped here and gets the nod.
Class & Speed Card

This represents a drop in grade for DIAMOND DICE following a respectable effort in a Listed bumper at Cheltenham in November. The son of Diamond Boy sets the standard on form, with Hereford third French Symphony and newcomer The Happy Chapati, a half-brother to The New One, looking best placed to chase him home. Completing the shortlist are I Play County, Land Of Moon and Off The Jury.

This will probably go to one of the newcomers and the betting could be revealing, with OFF THE JURY chanced first time up for Alan King, who had an impressive bumper winner here last month. The Happy Chapati and Royal Infantry are also interesting, while Diamond Dice is the pick of those with bumper form.

This looks wide open but Irish point winner OFF THE JURY gets the vote ahead of Diamond Dice and newcomer The Happy Chapati.
Class & Speed Card

INGENNIO was only narrowly beaten when second in a similarly modest handicap at Newcastle last month and, having now posted three respectable efforts on the bounce since being tried in cheekpieces, a change of fortune could be imminent for the Richard Hobson-trained six-year-old. Testing ground seems ideal for the selection and his proven liking for the forecast going earns him the nod over Embolden and Robber's Bridge, who appear to be the pick of the opposition.

HARA KIRI has a long absence to overcome but he's joined a yard whose runners rarely lack for fitness and, having shown promise in a trio of novice hurdles for Alex Hales he makes plenty of appeal from a modest opening mark. Billytherealbigred is another interesting handicap debutant, with Ingennio likely to be on the premises if reproducing his latest effort.

The pick is handicap debutant LETTHEDUSTSETTLE, who caught the eye making steady late headway in a heavy-ground maiden in November.
Class & Speed Card

MAJORELLE BLUE filled the runner-up spot at Chelmsford just before Christmas and the manner of that performance suggested the extra furlong would play to her strengths. Maverick Style won on the same card the selection contested last time and she has to be of interest, despite a 3lb rise. Rhasidat won a nursery at Dundalk on her penultimate start and isn't one to discount on her UK debut for Dr Richard Newland and Jamie Insole.

MAVERICK STYLE showed improved form to get off the mark at Chelmsford 3 weeks ago, proving a lot more straightforward in first-time blinkers, and she's taken to defy a 3 lb rise. Majorelle Blue may do better again now switched to handicaps and is next best ahead of High Sport.

With progress looking plausible, MAJORELLE BLUE could well defy top weight. Maverick Style is second chioce.
Class & Speed Card

HANNAH'S RETURN won over this distance at Wolverhampton two starts ago before dropping back to the minimum trip at the same venue and finishing less than a length away in third. Top-rated in the line-up, this represents an excellent opportunity for Gary Brown's mare to gain a fourth career victory. Sea The Buckthorn is capable of a decent showing, while a repeat of Penny Be's fourth at Lingfield last Thursday would give her every chance of going close.

HANNAH'S RETURN arrives at the top of her game and looks the one to beat on these terms back up in trip. Sea The Buckthorn and Time Patrol are others to consider.

In-form mare HANNAH'S RETURN (nap) looks the strongest option. Sea The Buckthorn is second choice.
Class & Speed Card

MARCHETTI clearly benefitted from wind surgery when scoring by two lengths over course and distance from Safe Passage last month. The former is taken to confirm that form, with the pair meeting on effectively the same terms here. Essme could be the main danger to the selection given that her most recent effort at Lingfield can be upgraded after being hampered leaving the stalls.

MARCHETTI ran out a decisive winner in a well-run race over C&D 3 weeks ago and could take a bit of stopping if turning up in similar form. Ballybaymoonshiner and Lupset Flossy Pop head the dangers.

Judged on peak form, LUPSET FLOSSY POP holds particularly good claims at this level. Second choice is Ballybaymoonshiner.
Class & Speed Card

The return to a mile looks sure to suit Laura's Breeze who lost nothing in defeat when going down by a neck here last week and she could make her presence felt off an unchanged handicap mark. Recuerdame has been largely consistent in handicaps throughout the winter but will need the cards to fall in his favour to score here. Preference is for GOT NO DOLLARS who ran well when finishing fourth from a wide draw here recently and he may take advantage of the step back up in trip.

LAURA'S BREEZE found only a course specialist too good here last week so is the obvious choice to go one better from the same mark. Got No Dollars is a consistent sort who seems likely to give another good account, with Recuerdame also in the mix having shaped as if still in good form from a less-than-ideal position on his most recent outing at Lingfield.

It may be worth siding with LAURA'S BREEZE, who could do with settling better but may prove tough to beat if she can.
Class & Speed Card

EL CORDOBES was soundly beaten into sixth on debut over course and distance last month but was sent off favourite, so clearly better was expected from the Frankel colt and he could open his account here with that experience expected to bring him on. Advert Rules ran well when fourth here last month and is open to plenty of improvement after only two starts. A big run can also be expected from Morning Light, who sports first-time blinkers after boiling over in the parade ring at Doncaster on debut and she shaped like the application of headgear would suit at this track on her most recent start. A smart effort would be required from both Bursinel and Calculate to get off the mark on debut in this competitive contest.

EL CORDOBES made no more than an adequate debut considering his price-tag and spot at the top of the betting when sixth over C&D 5 weeks ago but he can put that experience to good use up against some interesting newcomers, including Bursinel and Condor Pasa.

The pick of the runners with experience is EL CORDOBES. Condor Pasa and West Hollywood are shortlisted newcomers.
Class & Speed Card

This drop back to a mile can help Claxton Bay, who faded in the straight over 10 furlongs at Chelmsford last month. Better can also be expected from the less-exposed WADACRE ICARUS on his first try in a handicap, with the step up to a mile looking like it will suit Charlie Johnston's colt and he gets a tentative vote. The step up in trip also promises to suit Wait And Hope, who has come up against some smart horses for the grade over 6f at Newcastle on his last two starts.

A chance is taken on Karl Burke handicap newcomer WAIT AND HOPE, who is bred to be a good bit better than an opening mark in the mid-60s. Claxton Bay had lack of stamina as an excuse over 1¼m at Chelmsford last time and is now 3 lb lower than when third at Wolverhampton in November so he's second choice ahead of Juan Solo, the mount of Tom Marquand.

The suggestion is WADACRE ICARUS, who can improve for this step up in trip and make a winning handicap debut.
Class & Speed Card

Popcorn Magic made a promising start to his career when winning cosily at Lingfield over 1m2f most recently and holds obvious claims here. However, BIRTHDAY ANGEL also ran with plenty of promise on debut when finishing fourth over that same C&D, keeping on all the way to the line. That form has been well advertised since, with the second-placed horse subsequently running with credit in a Listed race and, consequently, Archie Watson's charge gets the vote here. Reason To Pass may improve for the experience of his first run and shouldn't be dismissed.

POPCORN MAGIC overcame a wide draw/signs of greenness and marked himself down as a useful prospect when landing a 12-runner Lingfield novice on debut 53 days ago. With progress anticipated, he can follow-up under a penalty. Birthday Angel and Running The Game following a spell over hurdles may emerge as the lead dangers.

In terms of British form, Popcorn Magic and BIRTHDAY ANGEL hold the strongest claims, with slight preference for the latter.
Class & Speed Card

LARTIGUE made a promising start to his career when finishing second at Wolverhampton after displaying signs of inexperience. With that outing under his belt, it would be no surprise to see Karl Burke's colt go one better, especially as the third, Composite, who reopposes, got off the mark here subsequently and now has to give the selection 7lb. Little Peter outran his odds when runner-up on his Flat debut at Southwell and has to be respected, while a gelding operation might aid the cause of Rogue Lion.

COMPOSITE was well on top at the line when opening his account at Wolverhampton last month and, with his useful pedigree providing plenty of hope for better still, he's taken to defy a penalty. Lartigue and Little Peter are considered the main threats, though Rogue Lion appeals as the type to leave his debut form well behind and shouldn't be overlooked.

Wolverhampton runner-up LARTIGUE is taken to go one better and confirm placings with Composite.
Class & Speed Card

DICKO THE LEGEND ran out an impressive winner when producing a career-best effort at Chelmsford last month and a 6lb rise is unlikely to stop the four-year-old from progressing further. Global Warning justified strong market support when scoring at Wolverhampton on his latest start and dropping in trip shouldn't be a major concern. Others to consider are Sir Rodneyredblood and Heartrate.

An open-looking finale with the narrow vote in favour of HEARTRATE. He quickly returned to form when third behind an improving sort at Southwell 3 weeks ago and he's fancied to go well operating from the same mark. Last-time-out winners Dicko The Legend and Global Warning are others to consider.

The suggestion is to stick with the improving DICKO THE LEGEND, who can make further progress up in grade.
Ths is the racecard key.
