Despite the lack of numbers, this is deceptively trappy and only a tentative vote can go to DIOMED SPIRIT. A winner over C&D two starts ago, he wasn't as well positioned when finishing fifth in behind Almaty Star (third) at Chelmsford. The pair are unlikely to be separated by much, but Stuart Williams has his yard in fine fettle and that earns his sprinter the vote. With two wins from her last five outings, Toolatetonegotiate is steadily improving and might be capable of better.

Last year's winner MASTER OF MY FATE and nicely treated Michaela's Boy may well prove resurgent returned to this C&D.

MADNESS D'ELLE brings strong Auteuil form for his Irish debut and is likely to be a smart performer. Placed third over hurdles on soft ground last May, that race's winner was subsequently Grade 1-placed and the selection now debuts for top connections at an encouraging time of year. His stablemate Mino Des Mottes won a French AQPS bumper last summer but although he showed ability here on New Year's Eve, he is vulnerable to smart types. Deep Water Bay ran nicely on his recent hurdling debut, but is likely to be more at home on better ground.

Paul Townend's mount MADNESS D'ELLE has joined the Closutton team from a good source after a promising run at Auteuil.

Having secured an eighth career victory at Wincanton last month, Lightonthewing merits respect in his follow-up bid. However, a 7lb rise for the veteran does demand more and ILLOGICAL LOGIC is more appealing. Christian Williams has his string in good order and a reproduction of his inmate's latest second at Windsor may prove sufficient. Ithaka and Tuscan Rose are others to consider in an open contest.

In an ordinary race LIGHTONTHEWING is taken to follow up his win at Wincanton last month despite a 7lb rise.

This is all about NUNC EST BIBENDUM. The Moores' five-year-old recorded a narrow success over C&D before following up in impressive fashion at Southwell and, with little exposure to these marathon trips, a subsequent 9lb rise shouldn't halt further progress. Prince Quattro didn't fare well last time, but he'd been running well prior and is perhaps the main threat. Young Endless has gone off the boil slightly since completing a hat-trick in November, but cannot be written off just yet.

With further progress on the cards, NUNC EST BIBENDUM is taken to complete a hat-trick. Prince Quattro is feared most.

ZUZUKEL was narrowly beaten here in November and has obvious claims. Although a 13-race maiden, the son of Frankel showed some promise on the Flat and produced a much improved jumps performance on his latest start. He is 4lb higher, but his rider claims 4lb. Be Fierce hasn't run since a disappointing chase effort in August, but he has winning hurdles form and is suited by heavy ground. He is rated 7lb higher over fences and should compete on his reappearance. Jumble Light offered more encouragement at Navan last month, while Where Are You Now is open to plenty of progression and debuts in handicaps.

A 100-1 chance when contesting her first handicap at Leopardstown, WALK ON ANNILOG is put forward as an each-way option

RACE TO BASE impressed here when getting off the mark over timber in November before facing a stiff enough task against a pair of promising novices at Aintree. That said, he still wasn't disgraced and the six-year-old can prove too strong for Looping D'arc, who made a winning start to life over hurdles at Southwell last month. Guardami Ancora and Lady Magic are others to note.

Point and bumper winner LOADED AND LOCKED should be getting off the mark over hurdles sooner rather than later and earns the vote.

It is not the most daunting standard set by Alasrae, but he's posted a number of positive efforts in defeat so far and perhaps the addition of blinkers can elicit some improvement. However, it might be worth chancing newcomer COMPRADOR. The No Nay Never colt is related to a host of smart individuals, most notably the speedy Trillium, and he won't need to be anything near that level to scoop this prize. Charging Bull is also noted.

Preference is for ALASRAE, who hasn't had much luck for his current yard and was an eyecatching fourth over C&D 12 days ago.

It was disappointing that Champion Bumper winner BAMBINO FEVER went under on her hurdling debut, but she remains a fine prospect for jumps. Undefeated in four bumpers, including twice at Grade 1 level, she may have needed the run when beaten by smart performer Oldschool Outlaw at Naas, with the third scoring next time. Willie Mullins also saddles Poetisa, who was bought for 300,000 pounds following her debut bumper win at Cheltenham last April but although she could be smart, she debuts over jumps against the race-fit selection. Bumper winners Forceonmyown and Susie Lenglen were each well enough held in recent maidens.

Last season's outstanding bumper performer BAMBINO FEVER can show that her Naas maiden hurdle defeat was just a minor blip

VOL ROYALE benefited from dropping in trip and front-running tactics when a comfortable winner over C&D last month and the six-year-old probably wouldn't need to improve from that display to double up. Aguellid has a hood applied after racing keenly on his first start in the UK at Exeter, which may aid his cause. Peter's Last Deal appeals most of the remainder.

This looks weaker than division one and AGUELLID could benefit from the hood on his second run for JP McManus. Vol Royale is feared.

SEAN MC was runner-up to a subsequent winner on just his second handicap start last month and can win from his revised rating. Out of a half-sister to his trainer's high-class Accordion Etoile, the selection's form was initially poor but he showed improvement at Fairyhouse, where he was the subject of a morning gamble. He is 3lb higher but is suited by conditions. Kinturk Nelson is a lightly-raced seven-year-old who ran reasonably well on his handicap debut at Fairyhouse, while Sarandon offered some encouragement on her handicap bow at Cork and steps up in trip.

It is hard to get away from SEAN MAC (nap) after the form of his Fairyhouse second was boosted by the winner at Naas on Friday

Rodney made it third-time lucky over the larger obstacles at Leicester, but a 7lb rise will require more of him and NOAHSGREATRAINBOW may prove the safer option. Things didn't go to plan over hurdles after a promising bumper campaign that saw him finish second in a Listed contest at Newbury. However, he seems to have turned the corner recently, winning on his chase debut at Wincanton, and he may well continue to progress. Pepe Le Moko completes the shortlist.

KIMI DE MAI won three bumpers in her native France and can now build on some useful hurdling form. Her smart French form was all on testing ground and having run well on her hurdling debut last January, she was subsequently well held at the Cheltenham Festival. Last month's reappearance run was a useful effort in a hot maiden as the Champion Bumper winner finished second, while the third scored last week, and this won't be quite as competitive. Lord Tobin has ability and although beaten 22 lengths on his hurdling debut at Navan, the first two horses are smart performers. Bergamasquo disappointed at Naas, but showed better form previously.

A tentative vote goes to Willie Mullins' mare KIMI DE MAI after her promising seasonal reappearance effort at Naas

ROYAL JET beat a subsequent winner when scoring in a handicap over C&D last month and a repeat of that form may well be good enough at this level. Monks Mead was not far behind the selection last time and is 2lb better off at the weights, which makes him of interest. Taskheer and Celtic John are others who arrive with strong form claims.

Solid ROYAL JET (nap) is taken to follow up his C&D handicap success. Celtic John is second pick.

The well-bred EMPIRE WALK had shown ordinary form prior to an encouraging run last month. Out of an unraced half-sister to Grand National hero Many Clouds and Grade 1 winner The Tullow Tank, the five-year-old was beaten eight lengths in an ordinary maiden at Naas, but shaped with promise and should be able to score from this sort of figure. Folly Master has a higher chase rating and is well suited by a test of stamina. He had a pipe-opener in a November point-to-point and should compete, despite carrying top weight. Westernersunrise had a nice reappearance at Limerick.

This could be the day on which nine-time points winner ROCKY'S HOWYA gets his act together on the track

COOL CUSTOMER displayed plenty of promise when filling second place on his Rules debut at Southwell last month and he could be hard to beat with the benefit of that experience. That'll Be Oxo was third that day and is an obvious threat, while Loch Ness Pineau and Britway Belle were expensive purchases out of the point-to-point field and any market support would have to be noted.

This could go to the bumper newcomer LOCH NESS PINEAU, who changed hands for £100,000 after winning a point in October.

A few of these arrive with something to prove and it looks best to side with MOON OVER THE SEA. The Tony Carroll-trained seven-year-old won over 1m3f at Southwell and must shoulder a 4lb penalty but he remains competitively treated, especially taking into account Tyrese Cameron's claim. Returning to further is no bad thing either. The consistent Zooks won't be far away, nor will Fascinating Shadow, and Grand Duchess Olga should not be underestimated, despite her wide draw.

Tony Carroll's MOON OVER THE SEA did well to reel in a long-time leader when scoring at Southwell and is taken to defy a 4lb penalty.

ESPONA BAY is still learning his trade and was a little unfortunate to bump into a progressive rival at Kempton. Although absent since that effort in October, the handicapper has only raised him 1lb and with a handy draw to work from, he could gain compensation. There are a number of threats, primarily Southwell winner Grey Horizon. Far Too Fizzy does not lack for speed and that may well tee things up nicely for the selection.

This is competitive but ESPONA BAY was second to improvers on both his AW starts and should go well on the switch to Tapeta.

PIMENTEL has improved since being switched to handicap company and was last seen filling the runner-up spot at Yarmouth in October. Off a 1lb higher mark, the daughter of Pinatubo could be hard to beat. The return to 7f should help Slack Bob and he remains open to improvement, while Surgeon Commander and Crown The Future are others who make the shortlist.

The one who appeals most is CROWN THE FUTURE, who won over C&D in November and didn't run to his best over 1m next time.

How's The Guvnor has also been running well in defeat of late and completes the shortlist.

Tony Carroll's recent recruit SCENARIO (nap) is taken to defy a 2lb rise for her win here, at the chief expense of R P McMurphy

EAGLES WHISTLE has given her new connections quite the thrill already, winning comfortably over 7f at Newcastle on Friday before following up just as easily over the mile a day later. Turned out quickly again with a nice bonus in sight, Daragh Bourke's charge may well take all the beating. A repeat of Bondi Man's recent C&D fourth would have him in the mix, while similar comments apply to Pyrrhic Dancer, who might benefit from a return to further.

Wrist Art could yet come good for James Owen but EAGLES WHISTLE may be resilient enough to win her third race in four days.
