1st (2) (6/4 +67%)Morbeh |
6/4(+67%) | (2) Morbeh 6/4, Ran about to form without finding much up in trip when beaten 4l in a maiden at Wolverhampton last time; probably stays 9f, bred for 10f+, acts on all-weather and still open to improvement. Ran a bit better when fifth on AW debut at Wolverhampton last month.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (10/1 -67%)Onyeisi |
10/1(-67%) | (5) Onyeisi 10/1, Won by a head off a 3lb lower mark at Chelmsford three starts ago; game effort running to form when second beaten 1/2l off 60 last time, same mark here; suited by 10f and acts on all-weather; three solid runs since blinkers applied. Got off the mark when stepping up to 1m2f at Chelmsford in November; placed twice since.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (15/8 -7%)Lord Mayor |
15/8(-7%) | (3) Lord Mayor 15/8, Improved on his final qualifying run when 3l third in a novice here last time; significant jockey booking; bred for middle distances and likely to want this bit further; opening mark looks lenient. Showed marked improvement on third start when third of eight here last month.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (13/2 -86%)Double Combo |
13/2(-86%) | (1) Double Combo 13/2, Good effort when making plenty of use of himself to finish 2l third in a maiden at Wolverhampton last time; significant jockey booking; effective at 8/9f and acts on all-weather; shows a good attitude and should find a race soon. His best effort on AW debut latest when third of 12 at Wolverhampton last month.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (13/2 +7%)Snaafy |
13/2(+7%) | (4) Snaafy 13/2, Scored by 1/2l off a 3lb lower mark at Wolverhampton three starts back; ran to form when third beaten 1l off 65 last time, 1lb lower here; trainer in form; suited by 8/9f and acts on all-weather; consistent performer. Won at Wolverhampton last month and not beaten far in two similar contests there since.. |

Onyeisi is the only one in this line-up proven at the trip so far and must be respected but there are a few interesting handicap debutants, not least LORD MAYOR. The Cityscape colt outran huge odds to finish third over the mile here latest and with stamina seemingly in abundance, he looks sure to take a step forward. Double Combo is also noted.

Preference is for LORD MAYOR to show the necessary improvement now that he steps up in trip. The main danger is Snaafy.

10/3(+72%) | (6) Forglen 10/3, No obvious excuse when beaten 6 1/4l in a handicap here last time; effective 12-16f and acts on AW; capable off this mark but current form only moderate. Record is just 1-16; needs to step up on latest effort (sixth over C&D). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (25/1 +24%)Fornido |
25/1(+24%) | (7) Fornido 25/1, Scored by a nose off a 2lb lower mark at Southwell three starts ago; never competitive and had no obvious excuse when ninth beaten 10l last time, 1lb lower here; usually held up; effective 12-14f and acts on AW; needs to bounce back. Has failed to back up the form of his account-opening win at Southwell. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (11/4 +39%)The Craftymaster |
11/4(+39%) | (2) The Craftymaster 11/4, Ran to current form when fourth beaten 4 1/4l in a handicap here last time; from a top course trainer; best at 16f and acts on AW; shaped well in recent starts and looks on a good mark. Ran encouragingly in first-time visor over C&D most recently; possibilities. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (10) (9/2 -64%)Girl Of Gold |
9/2(-64%) | (10) Girl Of Gold 9/2, Improved when suited by a positive ride up in trip at a sharp track, landing a handicap by 1 1/2l off a 55lb higher mark at Fakenham last time; stays 2m and acts on AW; moderate on the Flat and in bumpers. Opened her account in latest hurdles start; respected off current mark back on Flat. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (8/1 +27%)Smith |
8/1(+27%) | (9) Smith 8/1, Stopped quickly and was well beaten in a handicap here last time; had been in good form prior; effective up to 2m1f and acts on AW; needs to show a bit more. Multiple C&D winner but dropped away and failed to beat a rival last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (14/1 0%)Gearing's Point |
14/1(0%) | (5) Gearing's Point 14/1, Had every chance and ran to form when just tiring late on up in trip, beaten 6l in a handicap here last time; cheekpieces on for the first time; effective 10-13f and acts on AW; stamina not fully proven. Failed to get home in C&D event last week; yet to win beyond 1m4f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (40/1 -82%)Arenas Del Tiempo |
40/1(-82%) | (3) Arenas Del Tiempo 40/1, Never threatened after missing the break when comfortably held in a handicap at Chelmsford last time; enjoys making the running; effective 10-13f and acts on AW; needs to bounce back. Has failed to back up the form of her 1m5f win; first crack at 2m on Flat. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) (11/4 +50%)Zooks |
11/4(+50%) | (1) Zooks 11/4, Ran to form when beaten 6l in a handicap at Wolverhampton last time; had been in good form before that; effective up to 16f and acts on AW; a consistent sort. Below par five days ago but normally consistent; thereabouts if bouncing back. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) (33/1 -450%)Lumberjack |
33/1(-450%) | (8) Lumberjack 33/1, Returned to form when second beaten 7l in a handicap at Chelmsford last time; effective 14-16f on AW; still a maiden but a threat on latest showing. Placed several times but is still a maiden at the age of seven. |

GIRL OF GOLD wasn't disgraced on her first couple of outings in handicap company on the level and has since performed well over timber, going in on her most recent start at Fakenham. This appears to be a winnable contest on paper and James Owen's mare is fancied to come out on top. The Craftymaster showed signs of a return to form in a first-time visor when fourth over C&D last week, while Zooks is entitled to bounce back from Monday's effort at Wolverhampton.

Assuming the form of her hurdles win is transferred back to the Flat, GIRL OF GOLD (nap) could well follow up.

1st (3) (6/1 +0%)Zeus Power |
6/1(+0%) | (3) Zeus Power 6/1, Won a maiden hurdle at Thurles by 16l last time, improving from his debut when dropped in trip. Effective at 2½m and acts on yielding and good ground. The form of that win isn't strong but he continues to progress. Placed in two bumpers and on hurdling debut before a runaway Thurles win, promising. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (5/6 +31%)Lazare De Star |
5/6(+31%) | (2) Lazare De Star 5/6, Yard has won two of the last nine runnings of this race. Won a maiden hurdle at Leopardstown by 4¼l last time, doing it comfortably. Effective at 2–2½m and acts on soft and good ground. Point form has been franked and he's progressing well over hurdles. The one to beat on form. Won in good style over a longer trip at Leopardstown following C&D second, leading chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (20/1 -122%)Welonlyhavedone |
20/1(-122%) | (1) Welonlyhavedone 20/1, Pulled up in the Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle (Grade 2) at Cheltenham last time after a short break. Effective at 2–2½m and acts on good and yielding ground. Drop in grade helps but needs to bounce back and conditions remain a concern. Needs to bounce back after a Galway fall and a poor Cheltenham run, stable out of form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (7/2 -17%)Fierce Handay |
7/2(-17%) | (4) Fierce Handay 7/2, Nearly fell late when challenging but ran to form up in trip on a quick return when second, beaten 3l, in a handicap hurdle at Leopardstown last time. Effective at 2m with some cut and stays further. Consistent performer with an experience edge. Has earned his current mark with solid handicap form, a fair chance in a race of this type. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (66/1 +0%)Good Deal |
66/1(+0%) | (6) Good Deal 66/1, Needed the run when well beaten in a maiden hurdle at Fairyhouse last time. Effective at 2–2½m and acts with cut. Spring form has taken some knocks, so he must improve on that reappearance effort. Bumper winner at Fairyhouse, has failed to build on his hurdles debut at the same venue. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (22/1 +45%)Chase The Moon |
22/1(+45%) | (7) Chase The Moon 22/1, Outpaced and below form but stayed on when fourth, beaten 31l, in a novice hurdle at Fairyhouse last time. Effective at 2m and acts with cut. Looks better suited to a drop in grade. Won a Gowran maiden over this trip, struggled when up in class and trip at Fairyhouse. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (9/2 +31%)Bon Viveur |
9/2(+31%) | (5) Bon Viveur 9/2, Very promising debut winner of a maiden hurdle at Tramore by 4l last time. Trainer is in good form and he's effective at 2m on soft ground. Has more to come over hurdles for a top yard and the stiffer track should suit. A lot more on his plate now than winning a maiden at Tramore, merits respect all the same. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (40/1 +39%)Khmer |
40/1(+39%) | (8) Khmer 40/1, Raced keenly in front and did too much too soon up in trip when comfortably held in a maiden hurdle at Limerick last time. Effective at 2m and acts on soft ground. The drop in trip will help but has something to find with a re-opposing rival. Looks held by Bon Viveur on Tramore running, moderate run over a longer trip at Limerick. |

LAZARE DE STAR won nicely during Christmas and might prove to be a little better than a 126 rating. Runner-up in a point-to-point, he chased home a useful type on his hurdling debut before scoring at Leopardstown. Dropping back down in distance isn't ideal, but he seems ground-versatile and is open to further progression. Flat-bred Zeus Power has yet to race on ground this testing, but scored very easily at Thurles last month. He too is open to further improvement and should figure prominently. Fierce Handay has been running well in handicaps, while Bon Viveur steps up from his Tramore success.

A holder of Grade 1 DRF entries, LAZARE DE STAR may not be unduly troubled by the drop in trip following a stylish Leopardstown win

1st (2) (4/1 -60%)Throatlash |
4/1(-60%) | (2) Throatlash 4/1, Travelled strongly and won readily when landing a handicap by 6 1/2l off a 6lb lower mark at Aintree last time. Effective from 2m to 2m2f and acts with cut in the ground. Should improve further and holds a good chance. 2-2 in handicaps and this very lightly raced 7yo could be even better now up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (4/1 +38%)Icare Grandchamp |
4/1(+38%) | (6) Icare Grandchamp 4/1, Travelled well and ran respectably for a long way when needing the run, though comfortably held in a handicap chase at Newbury last time. Effective around 2m4f and acts on soft or good ground. Mark still looks fair and should come on for that run. Two chase wins in 2024 and returned from long absence with encouraging fifth last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (9/2 +63%)Southoftheborder |
9/2(+63%) | (3) Southoftheborder 9/2, Had every chance and ran to form when 11l third in a handicap chase at Ascot on his most recent run. Effective from 2m to 2m4f and acts on any ground. Consistent sort though yet to win over fences. Running pretty well in warm novice handicap chases and this should take less winning. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (13/2 +28%)Imperial Bede |
13/2(+28%) | (5) Imperial Bede 13/2, Ran to form and was well backed when fourth, beaten 5l, in a handicap chase at Hexham last time. Effective around 2m4f and acts on any ground. Bit to prove after an absence. Absent since December 2024 but given chance by handicapper and his stable is going well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (11/2 +8%)Bridge Court |
11/2(+8%) | (7) Bridge Court 11/2, Produced his best effort so far, showing a good attitude when beaten a nose off a 1lb lower mark at Catterick last time. Effective around 2m4f and acts on soft or good to soft ground. Likely to progress further as a chaser. Runner-up at Catterick on both chase starts and could be bang there once more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (13/2 -95%)Cerendipity |
13/2(-95%) | (1) Cerendipity 13/2, Race just developing when fell in a handicap chase at Wetherby latest; trainer in form; effective around 2m4f, acts on S, GS; can go well if okay after fall. Consistent 9yo who is handicapped to be in the shake-up if cutting out the mistakes. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (22/1 -10%)Choose A Copper |
22/1(-10%) | (4) Choose A Copper 22/1, Again below form when well beaten in a handicap chase at Newcastle last time. Effective from 2m4f to 2m7f and acts on soft or good to soft ground. Form has tailed off. On a dangerous mark but underwhelming since winning on last season's reappearance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (7/1 +65%)Dj Pete |
7/1(+65%) | (9) Dj Pete 7/1, Below form and too bad to be true when comfortably held in a handicap chase at Leicester last time. Effective from 2m to 2m4f and acts on soft or good ground. Needs to bounce back. Runner-up at Ffos Las then unsuited by going right-handed at Leicester most recently. |

THROATLASH hasn't looked back since underdoing wind surgery, building on his Wetherby success when readily beating two rivals at Aintree. A further 6lb rise looks fairly lenient and, open to greater improvement with only five NH runs under his belt, he will prove a tough nut to crack. Icare Grandchamp is entitled to improve for his comeback run at Newbury and should be competitive off the same mark in this lesser event. Southoftheborder also drops in class, and his mark continues to fall, so he could be dangerous.

The return to a left-handed track is a positive for DJ PETE, who was second to a progressive winner at Ffos Las two starts ago.

1/1(+27%) | (10) Winston Junior 1/1, Forced to switch and finished strongly when second, beaten 6 1/2l in a juvenile hurdle at Cheltenham last time; sets the standard; effective over 2m; debut form has worked out well and looks open to further improvement. Second at Fontwell and Cheltenham; could do with settling better but he's the pick on form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (16/1 +52%)Genealogy |
16/1(+52%) | (6) Genealogy 16/1, Modest debut when well beaten in a maiden hurdle at Leopardstown last time; that looks strong form; effective up to 12f on the Flat and, as an ex-Ballydoyle runner, is surely capable of better. 2yo winner for Aidan O'Brien; some promise in big field on hurdle debut; not ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) (14/1 +22%)Talakan |
14/1(+22%) | (9) Talakan 14/1, Ran to form when winning a 3yo race at Amiens by 5l last time; was with top yard in France; returns from a short break; market can guide on hurdle debut. Convincing winner on last of five Flat runs in France; likely type on British/hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (11/2 -65%)Down To Business |
11/2(-65%) | (2) Down To Business 11/2, Keen and made mistakes when third, beaten 9 1/4l in a juvenile hurdle at Newbury on debut; left with too much to do that day; trainer in form; effective 10–12f on the Flat and 2m over hurdles; progressive type who can improve with experience. Fairly useful on Flat; promising third on hurdling debut; open to lots of improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (11/2 +39%)Macshadow Des Crai |
11/2(+39%) | (7) Macshadow Des Crai 11/2, From the yard that won this race last year; ran freely and needed the outing when comfortably held in a juvenile hurdle at Cheltenham last time; effective over 2m on soft ground; French bumper form looks stronger since; likely improver. 20l sixth of ten at Cheltenham on British debut; needs to improve and that's possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (9/2 +0%)Novelista |
9/2(+0%) | (8) Novelista 9/2, Ran to form when 3 1/4l third in a handicap here last time; consistent staying handicapper on the Flat; returning from a break and could get involved on hurdle debut. Not far off useful on the Flat, winning over 2m; commands respect on stable/hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (25/1 +50%)Flash Man |
25/1(+50%) | (5) Flash Man 25/1, Finished down the field in a handicap at Saint-Cloud most recently; modest form on the flat in France; returning from a short break and faces a stiff task here. 2-14 on Flat; new yard has more than respectable strike-rate; interesting recruit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (125/1 -25%)Enziya |
125/1(-25%) | (4) Enziya 125/1, Fell early in a juvenile hurdle at Taunton last time; effective over 2m on softer ground and looks one for handicaps over hurdles in time. 1m6f winner on Flat but has shown only modest form over hurdles; fair bit to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (1) (33/1 -267%)Brave Guest |
33/1(-267%) | (1) Brave Guest 33/1, Improved for debut experience with a clear run when second, beaten 9 1/2l in a juvenile hurdle at Kempton last time; effective over 2m, handles heavy and good going, and looks capable of finding a maiden. Runner-up to a promising type at Kempton just after Christmas; may progress further. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (125/1 -279%)Elman |
125/1(-279%) | (3) Elman 125/1, Fell when beaten in a maiden hurdle at Limerick last time; wellbeing to prove after that debut fall but should benefit from experience. Unplaced on Flat; weakening when falling on hurdling debut; others appeal more. |

Down To Business raced keenly when making the frame on his jumping bow at Newbury and if settling better in a first-time tongue-tie, he ought to go close. However, WINSTON JUNIOR finished just over three lengths clear of a previous Grade 2 winner when second at Cheltenham and sets the standard with an official rating of 124. Novelista was a fair performer on the Flat and warrants a market check.

A tendency to race freely is a slight concern but WINSTON JUNIOR is the pick on form and can get off the mark.

1st (1) (13/8 +0%)Completely Random |
13/8(+0%) | (1) Completely Random 13/8, Ran to form when beaten a length off a 1lb higher mark at Kempton last time. Significant jockey booking and off a short break. Effective at 6f and consistent on all-weather surfaces so holds fair claims down in class. Big chance on last year's best efforts and this is a drop in class; solid claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (18/1 -13%)Bolo Neighs |
18/1(-13%) | (2) Bolo Neighs 18/1, Too free and poorly placed off a modest pace when beaten 5 1/4l in a handicap at Kempton last time. Trainer in form and usually held up. Effective at 6f but mark looks high. Needs to step up on last year's efforts but down in class and too soon to write off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (2/1 +20%)Zoulu Chief |
2/1(+20%) | (3) Zoulu Chief 2/1, Improved to win a handicap by 3l off a 7lb lower mark at Wolverhampton last time. Enjoys making the running and effective at 6/7f. In very good form on all-weather and remains very well treated on old form. Outclassed Class 4 opposition latest; up 7lb but doubt he's handicapped out of it. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (9/1 -64%)Justcallmepete |
9/1(-64%) | (4) Justcallmepete 9/1, Improved to complete a hat-trick, landing a sprint handicap by a neck off a 3lb lower mark at Chelmsford last time. From a top course trainer. Effective at 6/7f on all-weather and has a fair chance of a four-timer. Completed AW hat-trick when winning at Chelmsford last month; up 3lb against better horses. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (7/1 +30%)Dyrholaey |
7/1(+30%) | (6) Dyrholaey 7/1, Didn't get home and below form when beaten 5 1/2l in a handicap at Wolverhampton last time. In good form prior and effective at 5/6f on all-weather. Needs to bounce back. Beaten in two handicaps since his selling-race win at Southwell; now gets cheekpieces. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (12/1 +0%)Prince Of Pillo |
12/1(+0%) | (7) Prince Of Pillo 12/1, Outpaced and never threatened when beaten 4l off a 2lb higher mark at Southwell last time. Effective at 6f on a sound surface but inconsistent of late. None too consistent and could prove vulnerable back up in class. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (11/1 +21%)Intervention |
11/1(+21%) | (5) Intervention 11/1, Scored by 3/4l off a 4lb lower mark here on his penultimate start. Remains well treated on old form but inconsistent. Effective at 6/7f and acts on all-weather. C&D win last month was followed by a lesser run at Wolverhampton; others look stronger. |

ZOULU CHIEF had been knocking on the door prior to winning comfortably on his all-weather debut at Wolverhampton in November. With untapped potential on artificial surfaces, the five-year-old gets the vote at the chief expense of Justcallmepete, who arrives in excellent form in his bid for a fourth victory on the bounce. Completely Random has the assistance of Ryan Moore and commands plenty of respect.

This is a drop in class for COMPLETELY RANDOM and he can prove too strong for his rivals. Zoulu Chief is feared most.

Point winner returned from long layoff with bumper third last time; entitled to improve. |

15/8(+32%) | (1) Court Compliance 15/8, Ran to form when second beaten 1/4l in a maiden hurdle at Down Royal last time; effective at 2m5f, acts on yielding and soft; the debut form looks strong and he should be winning soon. 95,000GBP purchase following point placed form; runner-up in both m'dens; huge contender. |

12th (10) (300/1 -50%)Native Policy |
300/1(-50%) | (10) Native Policy 300/1, Outpaced and never threatened when well beaten in a maiden hurdle here on debut; returning from a short break and has everything to prove. 150-1 and ran as expected when tailed off over 2m4f at this track on debut. |

COURT COMPLIANCE was beaten at odds-on during Christmas, but is an able stayer who should be suited by going back up in distance. Placed in two point-to-points, he finished second in a useful maiden hurdle at Punchestown in November and although beaten at Down Royal subsequently, he ran a solid race and seems ground-versatile and dependable. He Can't Dance finished 11 lengths behind the selection at Down Royal, while Melbourne Shamrock's Fairyhouse conqueror Bally Free finished fourth in the aforementioned Punchestown maiden.

Runner-up in both maidens and with the form franked, COURT COMPLIANCE gets the vote to gain his first win

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (15/8 +32%)Smart Decision |
15/8(+32%) | (7) Smart Decision 15/8, Travelled, improved again in landing a handicap by a length off a 5lb lower mark at Market Rasen last time; enjoys making it; effective at 2m-2m4f, acts on S, G; consistent, more to come in handicaps. Made it 5-7 over hurdles when winning on handicap debut; could have more left in the tank. |

Travelled well before fading over 2m3f here and could benefit from the drop back in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (18/1 -200%)Caballo De Guerra |
18/1(-200%) | (4) Caballo De Guerra 18/1, Improved effort when fourth, beaten 7 1/2l, in a novice hurdle at Wetherby last time. Effective over 2m on soft or good ground and may have further progress to come now switching to handicaps. Kelso novice winner who is in good hands to progress and brings potential to h'cap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (9/2 +44%)Captain Butler |
9/2(+44%) | (5) Captain Butler 9/2, Made mistakes and never threatened but showed improvement from debut when fourth, beaten 13l, in a handicap chase at Ayr last time. Effective over 2m–2m4f; return to hurdles could suit. Promising second on last hurdle start and held back by his jumping over fences since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (13/2 +46%)Cracking Rhapsody |
13/2(+46%) | (1) Cracking Rhapsody 13/2, Below form up in trip, reportedly made a noise in running when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Aintree last time; since undergone a wind op and trainer in form; effective 2m, acts on GS; could bounce back. Below par this season but has had wind op; won the Scottish Champion Hurdle off this mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (11/2 0%)Bertie's Ballet |
11/2(0%) | (3) Bertie's Ballet 11/2, Won this race last year and ran to form when beaten 4l off the same mark at Wetherby last time, seeing out the longer trip. Returns from a long layoff; effective 2m–2m4f on heavy or good to soft ground; may just need the outing. Returns from absence but likes it here and won this race 12 months ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (12/1 +25%)Coumeenoole |
12/1(+25%) | (8) Coumeenoole 12/1, May have found the ground a bit testing when well beaten in a beginners' chase at Fairyhouse last time. Back from a short break; effective 2m4f–3m, best on a sound surface; interesting on debut for new stable. 0-8 under rules in Ireland but has joined top trainer for British career; watch the market. |

Last year's winner Bertie's Ballet has to be respected, but he's 5lb higher this time around and lacks a recent run so could be vulnerable. Brentford Hope continues to creep down the ratings and should be winning again before long, while the hat-trick seeking Smart Decision also has an obvious chance. The vote, however, goes to handicap debutant CABALLO DE GUERRA. He's stepped up on his Kelso victory with solid efforts at both Cheltenham and Wetherby and a mark of 121 looks workable.

With a lack of fluency over fences having been an issue on his last two starts, CAPTAIN BUTLER can make a winning return to hurdling.

150/1(-436%) | (14) Shanagolden Girl 150/1, No-show on rules debut, finishing down the field in a bumper at Exeter last time; effective at 3m on good ground in points; needs major improvement. Placed in Irish point in 2024 but tailed off when reappearing in a bumper last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (3) (200/1 -203%)Charlies Jetaway |
200/1(-203%) | (3) Charlies Jetaway 200/1, Well beaten when outclassed in a maiden hurdle at Ascot last time; cheekpieces on for the first time; likely one for handicaps. Placed in two points last May but did not show a great deal in two hurdles in the autumn. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (1) (400/1 -100%)Anothermanicmonday |
400/1(-100%) | (1) Anothermanicmonday 400/1, Pulled up in a maiden hurdle at Exeter last time; needs to find plenty more to feature over hurdles. Struggled when a big-priced outsider for first two hurdle races. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (10) (200/1 -100%)King Sacre |
200/1(-100%) | (10) King Sacre 200/1, Again ran to a modest level when comfortably held in a maiden hurdle at Hereford last time; effective at 2m on a sound surface; needs improvement. Remote fifth when 150-1 for last month's hurdle debut at Hereford. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (12) (250/1 -150%)Play On Court |
250/1(-150%) | (12) Play On Court 250/1, Again ran to a modest level when well held in a bumper at Warwick last time; difficult to fancy on that evidence. Well beaten at triple-digit odds in two bumpers this season. |

HARBOUR ISLAND's second to Supreme contender Mydaddypaddy at Carlisle in November looks the best hurdles form on offer and despite a slightly disappointing effort in a hot Newbury maiden hurdle since, he deserves another chance in a race of this nature. Doctor On Call was also a little underwhelming when a beaten favourite at Windsor, but he chased home a smart prospect at Fontwell prior to that and should be in the mix. October Hill is another to note following a pleasing stable debut in Listed company here.

His latest run was underwhelming but HARBOUR ISLAND was second to a smart rival on his hurdle debut and can still build on that effort.

13/8(+41%) | (5) The Jukebox Kid 13/8, Scored by 4l off an 8lb lower mark at Carlisle two starts back. Effective from 2½m to 3m and acts on good to soft ground. Progressive with more to offer over fences when ridden a little more patiently. This slight drop back in trip looks a plus; treated as still open to further improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (10) (8/1 +33%)Montregard |
8/1(+33%) | (10) Montregard 8/1, Won by 2½l off a 6lb lower mark here two starts ago. Made mistakes and failed to handle the track when pulled up in a handicap chase latest. Effective at 3m on good ground; penultimate win franked, progressive until that latest effort. Record of 2-3 since wearing visor features a C&D success on penultimate start. |

17/2(+15%) | (6) Kap Vert 17/2, Won by 7½l off an 8lb lower mark at Taunton two starts ago. Effective between 2½m and 3m on soft and good ground. Still unexposed over fences but may benefit from a slightly shorter trip. Has taken his form to a new level since upped to about 3m and switched to chasing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (12/1 -9%)Eyed |
12/1(-9%) | (9) Eyed 12/1, Disappointing on chase return when well beaten in a Newbury handicap last time, though had been in good form previously. Effective from 2½m to 3m on decent ground, but current mark looks stiff. Generally consistent but is considerably more exposed than many of these rivals. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (14/1 -65%)Issam |
14/1(-65%) | (2) Issam 14/1, Won by 1¼l off a 6lb lower mark at Wetherby two starts back and improved again when third, beaten 3l off 136 last time. Up 1lb here; effective from 2m to 2m4f on soft and good ground; a progressive sort. Solid record (1213) since switched to fences; thereabouts provided he stays this new trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (11/2 +8%)Laganhill |
11/2(+8%) | (8) Laganhill 11/2, Improved when second, beaten 9l, in a Bangor-on-Dee handicap chase last time. Effective from 2m4f to 3m on heavy and good ground; more progress expected over fences. Low-mileage 8yo; staying-on second upped to 3m at Bangor most recently; possibilities. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) (50/1 -100%)Outlaw Peter |
50/1(-100%) | (1) Outlaw Peter 50/1, Outpaced and needed the run when 24l third in a Newbury handicap chase on latest outing. Returns from a short break; effective at around 2½m and acts on soft and good ground, though has not matched earlier form since his layoff. Disappointing favourite in sole start this term; enough to prove back up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (11) (33/1 -106%)Minella Blueway |
33/1(-106%) | (11) Minella Blueway 33/1, Outpaced and not knocked about when beaten 35l into third in a Chepstow handicap chase on latest run. Effective at 3m and suited by soft ground; could be worth trying over a longer trip than this. Only a modest third last time when attempting to make it 3-3 in cheepkpieces. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (9/1 -157%)Welcom To Cartries |
9/1(-157%) | (3) Welcom To Cartries 9/1, Back to form down in grade on handicap debut when scoring by a head off a 4lb lower mark at Sandown last time. Effective over 3m; inconsistent but appears a thorough stayer and could progress now over his issues. Lightly raced 8yo; won narrowly at Sandown most recently; may improve further over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (100/1 -150%)Chavez |
100/1(-150%) | (7) Chavez 100/1, From the yard that won this last year; probably needed the run and may not have stayed when down the field in the Paddy Power Chase (Listed) at Leopardstown last time. Returning from a long layoff; makes the running; effective around 2m4f on any ground; likely to improve for the outing. Market may prove best guide on stable/seasonal debut; still with same owner. |

A lot more was expected of Montregard when he was pulled up at Kempton, but that effort was too bad to be true and he may be better judged on his victory over C&D prior. Welcom To Cartries is seemingly Harry Cobden's pick of the Paul Nicholls pair and it's easy to see why after his Sandown triumph. THE JUKEBOX KID failed to justify favouritism when fourth at Cheltenham, but this is just his third chase start and he could take a step forward to score.

Particularly interesting is LAGANHILL who ran promisingly upped to this distance last time. In d'Or is second pick.

A touch quirky but talented and progressive. Quickened smartly to win over C&D last month; major player up 3lb. |

2nd (2) (11/2 -100%)Sky Safari |
11/2(-100%) | (2) Sky Safari 11/2, Won the London Mile Series Final by a neck off a 10lb lower mark at Kempton on her penultimate start needing every yard having been badly hampered early. Trainer in form and returning from a short break. Suited by 1m and acts on all-weather. 10/3(+58%) | (4) Wujjood 10/3, Made too much use of and probably didn't handle the soft ground when well beaten in a classified race at Ascot last time. Returning from a break. Suited by 10f and acts on all-weather. A big, attractive filly who may improve in handicaps back on a sound surface. Below par on soft when last seen but still unexposed and brings potential to this AW debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (8/1 +33%)Unassuming |
8/1(+33%) | (3) Unassuming 8/1, Ran to form when beaten 3 1/4l off a 1lb higher mark at Wolverhampton last time. Cheekpieces on for the first time. Effective from 7f to 9f and acts on all-weather. Consistent performer but appears fairly treated. A better mare now than when 6th in this race in 2025 but rated accordingly; stamina query. |

5th (5) (28/1 -133%)Lady Of Arabia |
28/1(-133%) | (5) Lady Of Arabia 28/1, Did it readily to win a handicap by 1 1/2l off a 4lb lower mark at Wolverhampton last time. Effective over 8f-10f and acts on all-weather. In good heart and looks capable of landing a hat-trick. Chasing a hat-trick but up in the weights and she has the widest stall to contend with. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (7/1 +56%)True Colors |
7/1(+56%) | (6) True Colors 7/1, Scored by 2 1/4l off a 7lb lower mark at Wolverhampton on her penultimate start. Ran to form when fourth, beaten 2l off 81 last time and runs from the same mark here. Effective at 8-10f and acts on all-weather. Needs more to defy this mark. Fourth behind Morrophore over C&D last month; should make another bold bid. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) (50/1 -52%)Aiming High |
50/1(-52%) | (9) Aiming High 50/1, Hampered late but better than the result suggests when beaten 4 1/4l in a handicap at Wolverhampton last time. Usually held up. Effective from 9f to 12f and acts on all-weather. Step back up in trip could suit. 5lb out of the weights and she wasn't at her best in a lesser race last time; opposable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (20/1 +9%)Kimeko Glory |
20/1(+9%) | (7) Kimeko Glory 20/1, Ran to form when beaten 2 1/2l off this mark here last time. Suited by 10f, stays 12f and acts on all-weather. In form and appears fairly treated by the handicapper. Yet to win on AW but runner-up over 1m4f here in both starts for new yard; each-way shout. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (10) (150/1 -355%)Bint Al Daar |
150/1(-355%) | (10) Bint Al Daar 150/1, A bit below her best when beaten 2 1/4l off this mark at Wolverhampton last time. Visor on for the first time. Effective from 8f to 10f and acts on all-weather. Needs to bounce back. Running okay of late but this is a tough assignment from 6lb out of the handicap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (8) (125/1 -150%)Thankyou Baroness |
125/1(-150%) | (8) Thankyou Baroness 125/1, Below form on her first try on softer ground when well beaten in a handicap at Yarmouth last time. Returning from a break. Suited by 12f and acts on all-weather. Needs to find more from this mark. Her turf win last year came in a muddling race and well beaten twice after; tough task. |

Morrophore made it two wins from four outings in handicap company when making her way through the field in the trial over C&D and she commands respect, despite having a 3lb higher mark to contend with. However, SKY SAFARI maintained her unbeaten record on the all-weather over a mile here in Listed company and with the step up in distance expected to unlock further improvement, she looks the one to beat. Wujjood is another to note.

Morrophore is greatly respected but WUJJOOD brings some potential to this AW and handicap debut and could be a viable alternative.

8/1(+43%) | (13) I A Connect 8/1, Ran to form back over fences when winning a handicap by 4 1/2l off a 12lb lower mark at Down Royal. Effective at 2 1/2m and handles all ground but prefers it sound; back in form and remains well treated on old efforts; though can be a weak finisher. Dual hurdles winner got second chase win last time; good third over timber on penultimate. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (8/1 +33%)Killaney King |
8/1(+33%) | (7) Killaney King 8/1, Keen and ran to form before flattening out late when stepping up in trip at a stiff track, beaten 3l off a 1lb lower mark here last time. Effective at 2 1/2m and handles soft ground; in form with a fair mark. Point winner but a m'den under Rules; big danger if settling better than last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (8) (7/1 +30%)Grimaud |
7/1(+30%) | (8) Grimaud 7/1, From last year's winning yard; ran roughly to form and just flattened out late, possibly outstayed when beaten 6l in a Limerick handicap hurdle. Effective from 2m to 3m on any ground; consistent performer. Flat/m'den hurdle winner has run well in last 3 h'cap hurdles; Kennedy rides another. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (1) (8/1 0%)Balko D'ange |
8/1(0%) | (1) Balko D'ange 8/1, Won by 3 1/2l off an 8lb lower mark here on his penultimate start; hampered by an early faller and improved again when third, beaten 5 1/2l off 130 last time. Up 1lb and effective at 2m on heavy or good ground; still progressing. Added second hurdles win on penultimate and ran well latest; trip a slight question. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (11) (14/1 +58%)Catch The Beast |
14/1(+58%) | (11) Catch The Beast 14/1, Needed the run when comfortably held in the Brown Lad Handicap Hurdle (Listed) at Naas last time. Back from a short break; effective at 2 1/2m and suited by soft ground; should improve for the reappearance and thrown in on old form; very interesting. Winner over 2 years ago but didn't run badly on seasonal return last time; may improve. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (33/1 -32%)Fad Eadrainn |
33/1(-32%) | (4) Fad Eadrainn 33/1, Disappointed on handicap debut when down the field in the Neville Hotels Premier Handicap Hurdle (Listed) at Leopardstown. Cheekpieces applied for the first time; effective from 2m to 2 1/2m on any ground. Form previously on the up before that run. Bumper winner is 2-8 over timber and better than he showed when tailed off last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (12) (50/1 +24%)Cafe Con Leche |
50/1(+24%) | (12) Cafe Con Leche 50/1, Narrow winner off a 5lb lower mark at Cork three starts ago; outclassed up in grade when eighth, beaten 24l off 118 last time, now 1lb lower. Trainer in form; effective from 12f to 20f on heavy or good ground; consistent on the flat, less so over hurdles. Bagged fifth hurdles win in Nov' but struggled off revised mark in two runs since. |

SON OF ANARCHY is 10lb higher than when successful in November, but has further room for progression. He missed a year following a debut point-to-point success and while it then took seven runs to score over hurdles, he had shaped with promise on more than one occasion and landed an on-course gamble when scoring at Punchestown. The Nagger Reidy narrowly defeated Hgranca De Thaix at Leopardstown during Christmas, while others with good recent handicap form are Balko D'ange, Killaney King and I A Connect.

Out of form until failing by a nose at Leopardstown last time, HGRANCA DE THAIX is a big player if he can build on that

1st (2) (4/5 -10%)Old Park Star |
4/5(-10%) | (2) Old Park Star 4/5, Yard has won two of the last five runnings. Scooted clear when winning a novice hurdle at Cheltenham by 12l last time. Effective at 2m and handles good to soft and good ground. Should have more to offer for a top yard and looks classy. Made it 2-2 over hurdles with 12l win at Cheltenham and he holds leading claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (7/4 +13%)Hurricane Pat |
7/4(+13%) | (1) Hurricane Pat 7/4, Travelled well and did it cosily when winning the Claremont Novices' Hurdle (Listed) at Sandown by 5 1/2l last time. Effective at 2m and handles soft and good ground. Progressive and worth this step up in grade. Impressive Listed win at Sandown and it remains to be seen where his limitations lie. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (12/1 -9%)Soldier Reeves |
12/1(-9%) | (3) Soldier Reeves 12/1, Yard has won 2 of last 9 runnings of race; ran to form when second beaten 5 1/2l in Claremont Novices' Hurdle (Listed) at Sandown latest; trainer in form; usually held up; effective 2m, acts on S; more to come for top yard, maybe when upped in trip. Enjoys weights turnaround with Hurricane Pat from Sandown but was no match for that rival. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (12/1 +14%)Japetus |
12/1(+14%) | (4) Japetus 12/1, Improved again, scored with bit in hand when winning a novice hurdle at Market Rasen by 4l last time; effective around 2m, acts on GS and G; useful sort with more to offer. 2-2 over hurdles but this is tougher and others have more substance to their form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (40/1 +20%)Tashkhan |
40/1(+20%) | (5) Tashkhan 40/1, Confirmed debut promise when finishing 6l third in a novice hurdle at Kelso on latest run. Effective between 2m4f and 2m7f, acts on heavy and good to soft ground. Smart on the Flat, but the drop in trip may not suit. Smart stayer on Flat in his prime; encouraging start to jumps career but looks vulnerable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (150/1 -50%)Wahraan |
150/1(-50%) | (6) Wahraan 150/1, Made a fair debut when third, beaten 6 1/2l, in the Introductory Hurdle at Wetherby last time. Usually held up; returns from a short break after a wind operation. Effective at 2m and handles soft ground. Should improve but hard to fancy at this level. Useful, four-time Flat winner; promise on hurdle debut but considerable improvement needed. |

A cracking renewal of this Grade 2 and emerging star OLD PARK STAR could book his ticket to the Cheltenham Festival by making it three from three over timber. He did the job nicely first time at Kempton and took a major step forward to trounce smart opposition at Cheltenham. The sky is the limit for Nicky Henderson's six-year-old and he is tough to oppose. Hurricane Pat is also unbeaten over hurdles and was impressive when beating Soldier Reeves in Listed company at Sandown. The runner-up is 5lb better off, but may struggle to turn the tables. Japetus is a nice type for Nicky Richards, but this looks a step too far.

Nicky Henderson has won three of the last six runnings and can add to that tally with OLD PARK STAR. Hurricane Pat is the danger.

1st (7) (85/40 +47%)Heron In The Park |
85/40(+47%) | (7) Heron In The Park 85/40, Unseated mid-race in a maiden hurdle at Kempton last time. A point and bumper winner who is effective at 2m on soft or good ground and holds a fair chance here. Point/bumper winner last season; hasn't hit the ground running over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (14/1 -75%)Beauty In The Park |
14/1(-75%) | (1) Beauty In The Park 14/1, Probably made her move too soon when stepping up in trip on hurdle debut after a wind operation, needing the run when comfortably held in a novice hurdle at Wincanton last time. This is her second run after that procedure, effective at 2m, and the drop in trip may help. Disappointed on 2m5f hurdling debut but there were positives to take from her bumper runs. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (17/2 +39%)Chatty Girl |
17/2(+39%) | (3) Chatty Girl 17/2, Ran below form and may not have stayed when comfortably held in a maiden hurdle at Southwell last time. Effective at 2m on soft or good to soft ground, and the drop in trip could prove beneficial. Bumper winner and 2nd on hurdling debut; 2m4f was perhaps too far last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (2/1 +33%)Eremenko |
2/1(+33%) | (4) Eremenko 2/1, Travelled, not find much, needed run down the field in Mares' NH Flat Race (Listed) at Cheltenham most recent; off a short-break; effective 2m, acts on S, G; more to come over hurdles. Good-ground bumper winner who brings plenty of potential to hurdling career. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (20/1 +29%)Lyrical Choice |
20/1(+29%) | (9) Lyrical Choice 20/1, Lacked the pace to get involved from the rear when comfortably held in a maiden hurdle at Hereford last time. Was in good form beforehand, effective at 2m1f on good to soft, and might be better suited by a longer trip. Competitive in her two bumpers but at 22-1 she was soon left behind in a Hereford maiden. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (12/1 +25%)Klassy Pearl |
12/1(+25%) | (8) Klassy Pearl 12/1, Showed some promise on debut when fourth, beaten 7l in a novice hurdle at Catterick. Effective at 2m on good ground and should improve with that run behind her. Beaten under 7l in a novice hurdle for mares at Catterick over Christmas. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (13) (8/1 -129%)Miss Carbo |
8/1(-129%) | (13) Miss Carbo 8/1, Raced far too freely when comfortably held in the Byerley Stud Mares' Novice Hurdle (Listed) here last time. Wears a hood for the first time, effective at 2m and handles soft ground; ex-French and needs a bit more to get off the mark. Well held in a Listed race here last time; previous second at Warwick brings her into it. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (100/1 -25%)Four Decades |
100/1(-25%) | (5) Four Decades 100/1, Showed a similar level to her debut when well beaten in a bumper here last time. Off a short break and effective over 2m, with improvement likely now tackling hurdles. Down the field in her two bumpers, the latest here in November; hard to recommend. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (12) (16/1 0%)She's Delighted |
16/1(0%) | (12) She's Delighted 16/1, From the yard that won this race last year. Outpaced and never threatened when well beaten in an amateurs' bumper at Wetherby last time. Off a short break, effective at 2m on good ground, and should improve with experience; likely to stay further in time. Bought for £50,000 last May after winning two points; beaten 10l in both her bumpers. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (11) (16/1 +11%)Rene's Walk |
16/1(+11%) | (11) Rene's Walk 16/1, Outpaced and never threatened when well beaten in a novice hurdle at Ludlow last time. With her trainer in form and effective at 2m, she needs to find more to feature. Weak in the betting for both runs over hurdles and hasn't featured. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (10) (14/1 -17%)No Risk Today |
14/1(-17%) | (10) No Risk Today 14/1, From a yard that won this last year. Lacked the pace to get involved after a wind operation when comfortably held in a bumper here last time. This is her second run after that procedure; off a short break and effective at 3m in points, she should improve. Bought for £100,000 after point win; tongue-tie added after a 13l bumper defeat. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (14) (10/1 0%)Upton's Mighty Oak |
10/1(0%) | (14) Upton's Mighty Oak 10/1, Showed some promise on debut when 18l fourth in a juvenile bumper at Hereford. Effective at 2m on soft ground and could improve for this switch to hurdles. Needed to show more in a Hereford bumper (16-1) to be seriously fancied for this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (6) (25/1 -56%)Gilded Glance |
25/1(-56%) | (6) Gilded Glance 25/1, Passing Glance mare whose dam was placed over 12f on the Flat and also won over 2m–2m5f hurdles. Represents a good yard but may need this initial experience. Out of a winning hurdler; the only runner without experience and likely best watched. |

Point-to-point and bumper winner Heron In The Park clearly has lots of ability, but she has done plenty wrong during her short timber career to date and might be best watched until getting the hang of things. EREMENKO looks a slightly safer option in terms of today's race. Although she obviously needs to prove her jumping on her hurdles bow, the Walk In The Park mare is certainly bred for the job being a half-sister to last season's Pertemps Final winner Doddiethegreat and she brings some solid NH Flat form to the table. Klassy Pearl and Lyrical Choice are others to watch out for.

This looks an open and trappy maiden. EREMENKO is of obvious interest given her pedigree and connections.

1st (4) (7/1 +50%)Ooh Betty |
7/1(+50%) | (4) Ooh Betty 7/1, Again below form when down the field in a handicap hurdle at Taunton last time. Effective at 2m on a sound surface. Ran well in this last year but hard to fancy based on recent evidence. Hard to fancy on recent form but was third in this race last year and could bounce back. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (1/1 +64%)La Conquiere |
1/1(+64%) | (3) La Conquiere 1/1, Won the Mares' Novices' Hurdle (Listed) at Newbury by 3 1/2l last time. Effective at 2m and acts on soft and good ground. Highly tried in bumpers, her form has been franked and she looks useful with more to come. Likely to stay further in time but looks a big player up in class. Smart in bumpers and has taken very well to hurdling; up in grade but may well be up to it. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (13/2 -44%)Sunset Marquesa |
13/2(-44%) | (5) Sunset Marquesa 13/2, Ran to form up in class and probably got racing too early when fourth, beaten 4l, in the Unibet Mares' Hurdle (Listed) at Sandown last time. Effective between 2m and 2 1/2m, acts on any ground and continues to progress with increased distance; work to do to reverse form with Nurse Susan. Closely matched with Nurse Susan on recent Sandown running; unlikely to be far away. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (2/1 +56%)Joyeuse |
2/1(+56%) | (1) Joyeuse 2/1, Hampered and outpaced when below form in the Festive Handicap Hurdle here last time but worth forgiving that effort. Effective at 2m and may be suited by a slightly longer trip in time; sets the standard on Cheltenham spring run; could bounce back. Below par this term, including over fences, but very dangerous on last season's form. |

Nurse Susan produced a career-best effort to score in Listed company at Sandown earlier in the month and is bound to attract plenty of support. However, this drop in trip might work against her and that could leave the door open for LA CONQUIERE. Jamie Snowden's novice is unbeaten in two outings over timber, most recently in Listed class at Newbury, and she is likely to have more in the locker. Sunset Marquesa appeals most of the remainder.

The one with the most potential is LA CONQUIERE and Jamie Snowden's 7yo is taken to maintain her unbeaten record over hurdles.

9/1(-13%) | (4) One Big Boum 9/1, Returned to form down in class when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Limerick last time. Blinkers applied for the first time; effective 2m–2m4f on soft ground. Showed signs of revival but not one to rely on. No sign of his best form since two wins in 2024, has dropped in the ratings, blinkered now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (9) (7/4 +42%)Teds Corner |
7/4(+42%) | (9) Teds Corner 7/4, Short of room and had too much to do when beaten 3 1/4l off a 2lb lower mark at Fairyhouse last time. Effective over 2m and acts on yielding ground; yet to match promising debut but holding fair form. Twice in the frame at around this trip at Fairyhouse in recent months, should go close. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (12/1 -50%)Low Style |
12/1(-50%) | (7) Low Style 12/1, Needed the run when finishing down the field in a handicap chase at Galway most recently. Effective over 3m and suited by cut; had been improving prior to that reappearance. Ended last season with a good run in a 3m handicap chase, tailed off at Galway in October. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (20/1 -82%)Magic Boum |
20/1(-82%) | (3) Magic Boum 20/1, Travelled well and needed the run when beaten in a handicap hurdle at Limerick last time. Effective from 2m to 2m6f and handles cut; should come on for that outing. Lost form last season after course 2m maiden win, failed to feature on seasonal debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (10) (13/2 -18%)Johnny Cakes |
13/2(-18%) | (10) Johnny Cakes 13/2, Returned to form back down in trip when beaten 3l off a 3lb lower mark at Fairyhouse last time. Effective 2½–3m and handles heavy and good ground; generally consistent performer. Closely matched with Teds Corner on running at Fairyhouse, poor strike rate is a concern. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (9/4 +50%)Shellrunforbriggs |
9/4(+50%) | (6) Shellrunforbriggs 9/4, Went clear comfortably when winning a maiden hurdle at Naas by 8l last time. Effective over 2½m and handles heavy ground. Flat-bred and progressing; may do better again now handicapping. Hacked up in a 2m3f maiden at Naas, that was a weak race but this mark could be lenient. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (12/1 +40%)Queen Nel |
12/1(+40%) | (8) Queen Nel 12/1, Made too much use of early and needed the run when down the field in a handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse most recently. Effective around 2½m on soft ground; on a long losing run and needs to leave that form behind. Fourth at Fairyhouse last April, has failed to show similar form in two subsequent outings. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (100/1 -150%)Teescomponentsyess |
100/1(-150%) | (5) Teescomponentsyess 100/1, Pulled up in a handicap chase at Limerick last time. Enjoys making the running and is effective around 2½m on soft ground. Well treated on past chase form but must prove his ability remains after a layoff. Won a 2m4f chase off this mark last February, has struggled in two outings this season. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (10/1 -100%)High Notions |
10/1(-100%) | (2) High Notions 10/1, Far too free when stepped up in grade and well beaten in the Feathard Lady Mares Novice Hurdle (Grade 3) at Down Royal last time. In good form beforehand and effective over 2m4f; needs to bounce back now handicapping. Beat a subsequent winner at Fairyhouse in October, dropped in class after a Grade 3 bid. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (100/1 -809%)Herculaneum |
100/1(-809%) | (1) Herculaneum 100/1, Unseated in a handicap at Roscommon last time and has been absent for a very lengthy period. Previously progressive and could get involved if returning in good order. Most recent of three hurdle wins was in May 2024, off since later that year, may need this. |

SHELLRUNFORBRIGGS showed progression to break through and looks to be ahead of the handicapper with an initial rating of 102. Out of a half-sister to three winners, she showed some promise at Fairyhouse before scoring at Naas. That maiden hurdle was for previously unplaced horses but having won easily, she should continue to improve. Teds Corner has been a beaten favourite on each of his last three starts but should again compete, while Johnny Cakes has reasonable recent form but has won just once from 20 starts.

The Naas maiden won by SHELLRUNFORBRIGGS (nap) was not of a high standard. Even so, her opening mark may underestimate her ability.

1st (7) (5/2 +38%)Northern Empire |
5/2(+38%) | (7) Northern Empire 5/2, Improved from his debut when stepped up in trip, finishing second beaten 3l in a novice here last time. Effective at 7f and suited by the all-weather. Smallish type but has a good attitude and still some progress to come. Two promising runs in AW novices last month; should make another bold bid. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (5/2 -11%)Factual |
5/2(-11%) | (3) Factual 5/2, From a yard that won this race last year. Well backed and green but showed promise when a neck winner in a novice at Salisbury on debut relishing the stiff finish. Had numerous winners in behind that day. Strong claims back from break with Murphy booked. Strong form when winning a 6f novice at Salisbury last June; off since but 7f sure to suit. |

3rd (1) (9/2 +44%)Pinatubo's Legacy |
9/2(+44%) | (1) Pinatubo's Legacy 9/2, Showed a willing attitude on a very promising debut when narrowly winning a novice at Newcastle. Returns after a short break and remains effective over 7f on the all-weather. Debut form has been franked and he should stay competitive under a big weight. Winning debut (7f, Tapeta) in November; that form has been well advertised; not ruled out. |

4th (2) (3/1 -20%)Jungle Ruler |
3/1(-20%) | (2) Jungle Ruler 3/1, Built on a good debut when dropped in trip to win a novice at Southwell by 2 1/2l last time. Drawn wide but effective at 6–7f on the all-weather. Already looks a very smart prospect. 2-2, both wins on AW (7f and 6f); ready win for new connections latest; more to come. |

5th (6) (66/1 -313%)Charles Darnay |
66/1(-313%) | (6) Charles Darnay 66/1, Planteur gelding; half-brother to Land Of Oz, very useful from 14f to 18f; dam smart at 9f. Faces a tough enough task on debut. Useful middle-distance pedigree but there's a fair standard to aim at and may need further. |

16/1(+0%) | (4) All You Can Be 16/1, $65,000 War Front colt; dam smart at 8f at 2yo winning first couple of starts in France; market can guide. $65,000 yearling; dam a useful 6f winner; enough paper appeal to warrant a market check. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (33/1 -106%)Bennyworth |
33/1(-106%) | (5) Bennyworth 33/1, 42,000gns Supremacy colt; half-brother to Halfeti, who was moderate at 6f as a 2yo; yard runs a couple so betting should be informative. 42,000gns yearling; dam a 6f 2yo AW winner in Canada; one of two newcomers for the stable. |

The promising JUNGLE RULER made the perfect start for the Mick Appleby stable when making it two from two at Southwell earlier this month. The son of Lucky Vega is bound to have lots more to offer and will prove a tough nut to crack. Northern Empire improved on his debut fourth to finish second over a mile here and has to be considered, along with once-raced winners Pinatubo's Legacy and Factual.

A cracking novice for the time of year and FACTUAL may be the one who maintains his unbeaten record

10/3(+5%) | (2) Johnnywho 10/3, Too much to do, ran to form up in trip beaten 1/2l off a 1lb lower mark at Ascot last time; best at around 3m, acts on any; steadily progressive but mark creeping up and becoming frustrating. Went close in the Kim Muir last March and big run at Ascot last month; could be bang there. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (11/1 -83%)Royale Pagaille |
11/1(-83%) | (1) Royale Pagaille 11/1, Won this in 2021 and 2022; back to form when second beaten 3l in Betfair Chase (Grade 1) here latest; off a short-break; effective 3m-3m3f, acts well on testing ground, saves best for Haydock nowadays; dual Betfair Chase winner respected in this. Five-time course winner including this in 2021 and 2022; Grade 1 runner-up here last time. |

Ultima hero Myretown took a tumble in the Coral Gold Cup on his seasonal return, but that is worth forgiving and he's still capable of much better over fences. Johnnywho took a step in the right direction at Ascot and is respected from an appealing mark, and don't rule out Royale Pagaille, who landed this in 2021 and 2022. There has been no stopping front runner KONFUSION for much of this season, though, with his only blemish coming when unseating over C&D. He romped home in the Rowland Meyrick latest and a 9lb rise may well underestimate him.

Having been hugely impressive when making all in the Ultima at Cheltenham last March, MYRETOWN is taken to confirm that promise.

8/1(+0%) | (5) Kilworth 8/1, From a yard that won this race last year; ran to form when well beaten in a novice hurdle at Ludlow last time; effective from 2m2f to 3m with cut in the ground; needs to improve in handicaps. Quiet so far but this is her handicap debut; stable won this last year with a similar type. |

9/1(+10%) | (7) Snapdance 9/1, Produced a fair front-running effort when third, beaten 10l, in a handicap hurdle at Wincanton last time; effective from 2m3f to 3m and acts on soft and good ground; likely to progress further in handicaps. Third and beaten 10l on his handicap debut at Wincanton (3m) and has been dropped 1lb. |

5/1(+69%) | (12) Nowyouvebinandunit 5/1, May have found the ground too testing when fourth, beaten 18l, in a handicap hurdle at Fontwell last time; effective up to 2m6f and acts on good to soft and good ground; a maiden who looks exposed. Longstanding maiden but running well until getting stuck in the mud last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) (3/1 +14%)Square Du Roule |
3/1(+14%) | (9) Square Du Roule 3/1, Won by 1l off an 11lb lower mark at Exeter three starts back and ran to form when second last time; 5lb higher here; usually held up; effective from 2m2f to 3m on a sound surface; in good form and can go well again. 5lb higher than for latest near miss and wouldn't want the ground to soften up too much. |

5th (10) (5/1 -43%)Newmill Getaway |
5/1(-43%) | (10) Newmill Getaway 5/1, Ran to form stepped up in trip when beaten 4l off a 3lb lower mark at Bangor-on-Dee last time; effective from 2m3f to 2m7f on a sound surface; should go well returning from a break. Running well in the summer and her Bangor conqueror was well handicapped. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (5/1 -11%)Smile Back |
5/1(-11%) | (3) Smile Back 5/1, Ran to form when beaten 2 1/2l off a 2lb lower mark at Leicester last time; effective at 2m4f on soft ground; a mare with more to offer. Solid chance with her runner-up in 2m4f soft-ground handicaps the last twice. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (10/1 -43%)Tell The Tale |
10/1(-43%) | (8) Tell The Tale 10/1, Travelled well but failed to find as much as expected when fourth, beaten 29l, in a handicap hurdle at Doncaster last time; effective at around 2m3f with cut in the ground; may do better yet in handicaps. A winning pointer and entitled to show more with his stamina now stretched out. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (2) (66/1 -32%)Lion Of The Desert |
66/1(-32%) | (2) Lion Of The Desert 66/1, Possibly found the ground too soft when finishing down the field in a handicap hurdle at Exeter last time; effective between 2m2f and 2m4f on yielding and good ground; more required for his new yard. 40-1 and tailed off on British debut in a 2m2f Exeter handicap; plenty to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (4) (20/1 -67%)Ribba Hill |
20/1(-67%) | (4) Ribba Hill 20/1, Ran to form when fourth, beaten 19l, in a novice hurdle here last time; effective from 2m to 2m3f and acts on good ground; may progress further now hurdling. Wouldn't be a guaranteed stayer over this far on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (11) (12/1 +25%)Jewel Of Windsor |
12/1(+25%) | (11) Jewel Of Windsor 12/1, Outpaced and needed the run when well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Hereford last time; effective around 2m and acts on good ground; still early days but needs to show more. 0-4 for current yard but this longer trip may help with her pointing background. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (14) (100/1 -100%)Emberscombe |
100/1(-100%) | (14) Emberscombe 100/1, Taken on up front and set it up for closers when fourth, beaten 65l, in a handicap chase at Hereford last time; returns from a short break; effective at 3m; a point winner but an exposed maiden under rules. 0-13 under rules; 80-1 when pulled up in latest handicap; 7lb out of the weights. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (13) (125/1 -25%)Brucie Bonus |
125/1(-25%) | (13) Brucie Bonus 125/1, Pulled up in a handicap hurdle at Ludlow last time; absent for a very lengthy period; might need this run and difficult to make a case for. Pulled up on handicap debut in May 2024 when a 100-1 chance; off since and he's 6lb wrong. |

A chance is taken on the fitness of NEWMILL GETAWAY, who makes her first appearance since June. She chased home the now 114-rated Heather Honey at Bangor when last sighted, so potentially looks nicely treated lining up off a mark of 87. Square Du Roule was only beaten a short head over C&D and should remain competitive off 5lb higher, while Smile Back and Snapdance make up the shortlist.

Wide open. Sean Bowen is booked for KILWORTH's handicap debut and her yard's winner of this last year had a similar profile.

1st (6) (6/4 +40%)Vincenzo |
6/4(+40%) | (6) Vincenzo 6/4, Every chance and ran to form when beaten 1 1/2l off a 1lb lower mark at Cheltenham last time. Effective from 2m to 2 1/2m; consistent performer who should be thereabouts once more. Reliable; runner-up in competitive events on last three starts and high on the list again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (7/1 -40%)Bad |
7/1(-40%) | (4) Bad 7/1, Scored by 3 1/2l off a 6lb lower mark at Kempton three starts back. Effective from 2m2f to 2m4f and suited by a sound surface; mark probably high enough and not the strongest finisher. Not at best behind Etalon here latest but still young and could turn the tables this time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (8/1 -23%)Etalon |
8/1(-23%) | (3) Etalon 8/1, Returned to form under an aggressive ride in first-time cheekpieces, landing the Howden Handicap Chase by 2 1/2l off a 5lb lower mark here last time. Trainer in form; effective from 2m to 2 1/2m on heavy or good to soft; inconsistent and stamina to prove. Far from reliable but made all over 2m3f here last month; chance if in the same mood. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (28/1 -75%)Fugitif |
28/1(-75%) | (5) Fugitif 28/1, Displayed an awkward head carriage and found little when comfortably held in a handicap chase at Cheltenham last time. Effective at 2 1/2m on soft or good; not quite the force of old but the handicapper has relented. Well below par of late and needs to be revived by recent wind surgery. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (8) (7/1 +50%)Heltenham |
7/1(+50%) | (8) Heltenham 7/1, Fell in a handicap chase at Aintree last time when tiring. Trainer in form; effective around 2m4f on good or good to soft; on a winning mark and in fair form; no forlorn stable second string. Back to last winning mark and probably retains his ability; interesting under 7lb claimer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (9) (12/1 -20%)Neon Moon |
12/1(-20%) | (9) Neon Moon 12/1, Scored by 2 1/4l off a 3lb lower mark here on his penultimate start. Travelled well and challenged too soon off a strong pace when fourth, beaten 8 1/2l off 132 last time, running off the same mark here. Effective from 2m5f to 3m on good ground; in good form but probably high enough in the weights. C&D win came in uncompetitive race and he was only fourth of six next time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (7/1 +65%)Jungle Boogie |
7/1(+65%) | (2) Jungle Boogie 7/1, Made his move too soon back from a break and needed the run when well beaten in the Betfair Exchange Handicap Chase at Cheltenham last time. Enjoys making the running and is effective from 2m4f to 2m6f on heavy or good to soft; remains lightly raced for his age and could build on that effort off what looks a generous mark based on C&D win. Tailed off on stable debut; needs to have come on a ton in the 16 days since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (17/2 -55%)Scarface |
17/2(-55%) | (7) Scarface 17/2, Ran to form when beaten 2 1/2l off a 1lb lower mark here last time. Effective around 2 1/2m, handles any going; consistent, and his mark looks about right. Likes Ascot and ran right up to best when chasing home Etalon last time; in the mix again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (18/1 -125%)Hitman |
18/1(-125%) | (1) Hitman 18/1, Landed the Old Roan Limited Handicap Chase (Grade 2) by 2l off a 2lb lower mark at Aintree on his penultimate start. Best around 2 1/2m; remains well treated on old form but can be tricky to win with and is unreliable. Ended long losing run in the Old Roan but well held last time and needs to bounce back. |

The admirably consistent VINCENZO appeals after his second in the December Gold Cup at Cheltenham and had the measure of Bad (fifth) when he filled the same position there in the Paddy Power on his penultimate start. The Sam Thomas-trained gelding can uphold the form, despite Bad challenging on more favourable terms. Etalon had Scarface (second) and Bad (fourth) behind when successful here last month, although this longer trip could be an issue.

Scarface and Bad are respected but this looks a good opportunity for VINCENZO (nap) to snap a run of second places.

1st (3) (16/1 -33%)Joystick |
16/1(-33%) | (3) Joystick 16/1, Tired after a series of errors when comfortably held in a beginners' chase at Fairyhouse last time. The trainer is in form. Effective over 2–2½m and handles soft ground. Still early days over fences for a top yard but needs to bounce back. Tailed off in the Fairyhouse event in which stablemate Kaid D'Authie beat Wingmen. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (8/15 +57%)Slade Steel |
8/15(+57%) | (6) Slade Steel 8/15, Brought down as the race was developing when still going well. Effective over 2–2½m; a classy novice hurdler who isn't as slick over fences but is in form and should win this if his stamina holds up. Has been costly to follow over fences but has strong credentials and can collect now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (9/2 +31%)Patter Merchant |
9/2(+31%) | (5) Patter Merchant 9/2, Yard won this last year. Ran a bit below form up in class when comfortably held in a beginners' chase at Leopardstown last time. Effective at 2½m but best around 3m; can do better over fences now stepped up in trip. Went close in a weaker contest at Fairyhouse; failed to build on that at Leopardstown. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (80/1 +0%)Kings Hill |
80/1(+0%) | (4) Kings Hill 80/1, Outpaced and needed the run when a 48l third in a beginners' chase at Leopardstown most recently. Effective over 2½m; should improve over fences when stepped up in trip in handicaps. Not in the same league as several of these as a hurdler, never a threat on chasing debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (9/1 +44%)Ballybow |
9/1(+44%) | (1) Ballybow 9/1, Yard won this last year. Made mistakes and failed to build on his debut when comfortably held in a beginners' chase here last time. Effective at 3m; a useful hurdler who will need further over fences. Unplaced on both chase starts, looks significantly inferior to stablemate Wingmen. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (66/1 -100%)Yoradreamer |
66/1(-100%) | (9) Yoradreamer 66/1, Below form on chase debut when fourth, beaten 36l, in a beginners' chase at Wexford latest. The trainer is in form. Effective over 2–2½m, prefers a sound surface, and acts on yielding ground. Needs positive handling and may not be the stable's main hope. Maiden hurdle winner last summer, absent remote fourth on chase debut at Wexford in July. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (7) (6/1 +14%)Spread Boss Ted |
6/1(+14%) | (7) Spread Boss Ted 6/1, Ran a bit freely but to form when comfortably held in the Rathbarry & Glenview Studs Hurdle (Grade 2) at Fairyhouse last time. In good form prior; effective from 2½–3m and handles any ground. Has had issues but talented and a threat if fit for chase debut. Fourth in the Albert Bartlett in 2024, interesting chase prospect if he can recapture form. |

SLADE STEEL was a smart novice over hurdles, winning the Supreme at the 2024 Cheltenham Festival, and should gain a belated first success over fences. The Henry de Bromhead-trained gelding was placed twice last term and was absent for a year until again filling the runner-up spot behind Predators Gold over the extended 2m4f here last month, with Wingmen 10 lengths back in third. Spread Boss Ted was a useful stayer over hurdles but has obviously had training issues, while Patter Merchant's second to Flicker Of Hope at Fairyhouse has been advertised since.

Although SLADE STEEL is becoming expensive to follow, no fault can be attached to his Punchestown exit and he is worth another chance

1st (9) (10/1 +17%)Porfin |
10/1(+17%) | (9) Porfin 10/1, Had every chance and ran to form when third beaten 2l in a classified race here on his latest start. Effective at 6f and 7f and handles soft, good, and all-weather conditions; in modest current form. Best run for a while when 3rd over C&D last week; that was a 0-50 and this demands more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (5/1 +58%)Southbank |
5/1(+58%) | (6) Southbank 5/1, Scored by a length off a 2lb lower mark at Kempton three runs back. A bit too free in front but ran to form when fourth beaten 2 1/2l off 57 last time; 1lb lower now. Effective at 5f and 6f and in decent form with a slight ease in the weights. Change of tactics didn't work here ten days ago but he remains on an appealing mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (10/1 -43%)Harry Brown |
10/1(-43%) | (2) Harry Brown 10/1, Won by a length off a 1lb lower mark here in October. Bit free and hampered late when closing, ran to form when fourth beaten 3 1/2l off 60 last time; 1lb lower here. Effective at 5f and 6f; good record at this course and fairly treated. 21lb better off with Gogo Yubari on 5f run ten days ago; return to 6f a plus; contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (16/1 +36%)Rumba Bay |
16/1(+36%) | (8) Rumba Bay 16/1, Poorly placed off a modest pace when beaten 7l in a handicap at Wolverhampton last time. Returns from a short break; effective from 6f to 7f on the all-weather; dropping in the weights but in only moderate form. Ended 2025 quietly but on a good mark if a break has freshened her up. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (9/4 +63%)Pinjarra |
9/4(+63%) | (5) Pinjarra 9/4, Won by 2 1/2l off a 7lb lower mark at Southwell on his penultimate start. Effective from 5f to 7f and handles both good ground and the all-weather. Drawn wide again but remains a threat. Arrives in good form and the booking of Billy Loughnane is a positive; solid chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (7/2 +78%)Haziym |
7/2(+78%) | (7) Haziym 7/2, Back to form when beaten a neck off a 1lb lower mark at Kempton last time. From a top course trainer; usually held up. Effective at 6f on a sound surface and showed more like his best recently. Poor strike-rate; ran well at Kempton last time but far from certain to back it up. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (7/2 +30%)Gogo Yubari |
7/2(+30%) | (1) Gogo Yubari 7/2, Scored by 2 1/4l off a 10lb lower mark at Chelmsford on her penultimate start; trained by a top course handler. Effective at 5f and 6f on a sound surface; thriving of late but her revised mark demands more after a busy spell. Slow start scuppered Wednesday's bid for a four-timer; down in class but 5lb higher today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (28/1 +58%)Griselda |
28/1(+58%) | (4) Griselda 28/1, Continued in poor form when beaten 7l in a handicap here last time. This is her second run after wind surgery; effective up to 6f. Regressive at present. Out of sorts for current yard; drops in grade with headgear returned but still risky. |

Gogo Yubari certainly can't be ruled out given the form she has been in, but this is her sixth start in the space of 13 days and the handicapper might just have caught up with her. WATERMELON SUGAR looks the better option. He justified strong market support when winning comfortably over C&D and a 6lb rise might not be enough to anchor him if arriving in the same mood. Pinjarra is another in-form player with claims.

Harry Brown is respected back at 6f but SOUTHBANK is handicapped to win and a return to more patient tactics may bear fruit.

Bred to be suited by this step up in trip on handicap debut; could have lots more to offer. |

2nd (1) (22/1 +21%)Stay Away Fay |
22/1(+21%) | (1) Stay Away Fay 22/1, Again below form when well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Wincanton last time; blinkers first time; effective up to 3m1f, acts on soft and good; not the horse he once was. His mark continues to tumble but for good reason and a major revival is required. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) (5/1 +9%)Heather Honey |
5/1(+9%) | (9) Heather Honey 5/1, Won by 4 1/2l off a 10lb lower mark at Catterick on her penultimate start and ran to form last time; effective 2m4f-3m, wants a sound surface; strong spring form and progressive profile. 4 wins last year and close 3rd last time; in a better race here but could improve further. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (6/1 +40%)Phantomofthepoints |
6/1(+40%) | (2) Phantomofthepoints 6/1, Still in with a chance when falling in a beginners' chase at Uttoxeter last time; effective up to 3m with cut; has a chance back hurdling. Ran mighty race over C&D on reappearance; chase debut fall next time; capable of bold bid. |

5th (8) (4/1 +60%)Solar System |
4/1(+60%) | (8) Solar System 4/1, Well backed but below form and not knocked about when fourth, beaten 21l in a handicap hurdle at Bangor-on-Dee last time; returning from a long layoff; effective 2m-2m4f, acts on soft and good; might need this run. Won on this card 12 months ago; returns from absence but could have potential at this trip. |

10/1(-54%) | (4) Both Barrels 10/1, Improved and showed a good attitude when landing a handicap by 1 1/2l off a 5lb lower mark at Kelso last time; effective 2m4f-2m7f, suited by cut; more to come. Won at Kelso 19 days ago and this progressive 8yo has a chance for his in-form yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (10) (40/1 -21%)Inis Oirr |
40/1(-21%) | (10) Inis Oirr 40/1, Outpaced and looked in need of a stiffer test when beaten 9 1/2l in a handicap hurdle here last time; likely a prep for chasing; best over longer trips than 3m; sound surface suits but out of form. Continues to drop down weights but regressive profile and needs to raise his game. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (5) (28/1 -133%)Pinot Rouge |
28/1(-133%) | (5) Pinot Rouge 28/1, Pulled up in a handicap chase at Newcastle last time; effective 2m4f-3m1f, acts on soft and good; inconsistent but happier back hurdling. Could be suited by the return to hurdling but her profile is patchy. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (6) (12/1 +14%)Icare Allen |
12/1(+14%) | (6) Icare Allen 12/1, Ran to current form when beaten 2l off this mark at Wetherby last time; probably best at 2m4f now, acts on good; unreliable but fairly treated on best form. Inconsistent but produced a positive performance on Boxing Day and could be involved. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (15/2 -7%)Kyntara |
15/2(-7%) | (3) Kyntara 15/2, Ran to form, raced on worst part of track when beaten 3l off this mark at Cheltenham last time; effective 3m, suited by cut; better over hurdles where on fair mark. 10yo who has run pretty well in defeat on both runs this term and might not be far away. |

There is quite a bit of pace on show here and, with that in mind, it might be worth taking a chance on SOLAR SYSTEM. The seven-year-old enjoyed a fruitful winter last term but plateaued a little in the spring, so it's possible that 301 days off the track will have done him the world of good. He's still capable of better and this could set up perfectly for him. Both Barrels, Dalston Lad and Kyntara could all have a say but given that they might take each other on for the lead, Heather Honey may be a bigger threat.

Dan Skelton's DALSTON LAD (nap) has the potential to be considerably better than his opening mark. Phantomofthepoints is feared.

4th (3) (15/2 +6%)Raffles Hermes |
15/2(+6%) | (3) Raffles Hermes 15/2, Made a modest first run in Britain when well beaten in a handicap chase at Exeter last time. Hood fitted for the first time after a short break; effective around 2m4f in France, and needs the new headgear to make a difference. Quiet British debut but now hooded and he won twice over fences in France. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (7/2 +22%)Valirann Gold |
7/2(+22%) | (7) Valirann Gold 7/2, Ran to form when second, beaten 7l, in a handicap chase at Exeter last time. Effective from 2m to 2m5f and suited by some cut; can be lazy but could be back in form despite proving frustrating. Hard to win with but he's in solid form and has the benefit of Sean Bowen's assistance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (11/2 -100%)Cuban Court |
11/2(-100%) | (5) Cuban Court 11/2, Produced a game effort to rally after a couple of bad errors when landing a handicap by 1 1/4l off a 3lb lower mark at Doncaster last time. Effective from 2m to 2m4f and suited by decent ground; may progress further if sharpening his jumping. Did well to win on chase debut at Doncaster and is only 3lb higher here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (16/1 +52%)Holy Legend |
16/1(+52%) | (6) Holy Legend 16/1, Too keen and needed the run when well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter last time. Effective around 2m4f on soft or good ground; may need this outing after another break on his chase debut. Modest hurdler and has too much to prove on a few counts now tackling fences. |

Hypotenus had everything drop his way when scoring over C&D last week, but whether the same happens on this occasion after a 6lb rise remains to be seen. JAIPALETEMPS has been in fine fettle over the past few months, winning three of his last four starts, and the seven-year-old is taken to continue in a similar vein of form. Doncaster scorer Cuban Court may end up being the main threat to the selection off 3lb higher.

The 7yo HYPOTENUS will surely attempt to make all once more and he could take some reeling in if finding his rhythm.

3/1(-9%) | (5) Came From Nowhere 3/1, Improved up in trip in a first-time tongue tie when landing a handicap by 2½l off a 7lb lower mark at Hereford last time. Effective from 2m to 2½m and handles soft ground; progressive since going handicapping though the revised mark demands more. Low-mileage 7yo; had fair bit in hand at Hereford; up 7lb but open to further improvement. |

2nd (1) (4/1 +56%)Tripoli Flyer |
4/1(+56%) | (1) Tripoli Flyer 4/1, Ran to form when comfortably held in the Christmas Hurdle (Grade 1) at Kempton last time. Effective at 2m and acts on good ground; may have reached his level but mark looks fair on Graded form; threat if stamina holds up. Stiff task back over hurdles last time; lightly raced and not ruled out on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (10) (17/2 -6%)Moveit Like Minnie |
17/2(-6%) | (10) Moveit Like Minnie 17/2, Below form when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Hereford last time. In good form prior; effective around 2m and prefers a sound surface. Usually consistent especially at this venue but can be frustrating. Likes Ascot; beaten long way by Came From Nowhere at Hereford latest; needs to bounce back. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) (4/1 +0%)Surrey Lord |
4/1(+0%) | (9) Surrey Lord 4/1, Improved up in trip when landing a handicap by 1¼l off a 6lb lower mark at Kempton last time. Usually held up; effective from 2m to 2m5f on good to soft or good ground; progressive and his form has been franked. Three wins this season, latest when upped to 2m5f; may not have reached his limit just yet. |

5th (6) (16/1 -33%)Thanksforthehelp |
16/1(-33%) | (6) Thanksforthehelp 16/1, Ran to current form when well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Windsor latest. Blinkers first time; effective from 2½m to 3m but his mark looks high enough. Won in big field at Punchestown last spring; below par twice since but blinkers now go on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (50/1 -150%)Patriotik |
50/1(-150%) | (8) Patriotik 50/1, Unsuited by the way the race developed when down the field in a handicap hurdle at Chepstow most recently. Cheekpieces first time; effective at 3m and stays further but in modest form. In good form last spring but woeful in three runs this season; difficult to recommend. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (8/1 -45%)Faivoir |
8/1(-45%) | (2) Faivoir 8/1, Below form when unsuited by the way the race developed and well beaten in the Festive Handicap Hurdle here latest. Trainer in form; effective around 2m on heavy or good ground and capable off this mark. Veteran; third in the Greatwood at Cheltenham and not disgraced last time; should go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (11/1 +31%)Samuel Spade |
11/1(+31%) | (4) Samuel Spade 11/1, Travelled well but did not find as much as looked likely when well beaten in a handicap hurdle here latest. Cheekpieces first time; best around 2½m, barely gets 3m, so this drop in trip a plus; handicapper is relenting; very interesting. Back to same mark as convincing 2025 course win but hasn't finished in first six this term. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (7) (9/1 +36%)Marche D'aligre |
9/1(+36%) | (7) Marche D'aligre 9/1, Ran to form down in grade when second beaten 4½l in a handicap hurdle at Sandown latest. Effective at 2m and acts on soft or good to soft ground; back in form and less exposed than most here. Arrives after two seconds over 2m; should be involved again if staying this longer trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (22/1 +12%)Metier |
22/1(+12%) | (3) Metier 22/1, Yard won this last year. Made too much use of but ran well to a point when fourth beaten 20l in a handicap hurdle at Sandown latest. Cheekpieces first time; effective at 2m and suited by soft ground; has dropped in the weights but in moderate form. Well handicapped on old form but needs first-time cheekpieces to have a positive effect. |

Having had the measure of the in-form Surrey Lord and Moveit Like Minnie in separate recent encounters, there is plenty to like about the way CAME FROM NOWHERE is developing. He looked ahead of his mark with a cosy win at Hereford just before Christmas and a 7lb rise could underestimate him. Faivoir, who is a previous course winner over fences and rated much higher in that sphere, is potentially a big danger on these terms. Marche D'aligre is another with each-way prospects.

This can go to the hardy veteran FAIVOIR, third in the Greatwood in November yet able to compete here off 2lb lower.

13/2(+7%) | (11) Duce Bigalow 13/2, Went clear early and went too fast when comfortably held in a Punchestown handicap chase last time. Effective at 2-2½m and worth another chance in handicaps off a low mark. Best run from nine starts under Rules came on penultimate; well beaten latest. |

3rd (8) (5/1 +44%)Plain Or Battered |
5/1(+44%) | (8) Plain Or Battered 5/1, May have found the ground too quick and went too freely when down the field in a Thurles handicap chase last time. Effective at 3m and suited by cut in the ground; form remains inconsistent. Encouraging third at Punchestown on hvy, but below best latest; not ruled out back on soft. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (18/1 -29%)Butty O Brien |
18/1(-29%) | (3) Butty O Brien 18/1, Pulled up in a Fairyhouse handicap hurdle on return from a long layoff. Effective around 2½m and handles yielding or heavy ground. Needs to prove ability remains after the lengthy absence. Added second hurdles win here in Jan' 2024 but PU on return from 434 days off latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (11/2 -38%)Made In The Woods |
11/2(-38%) | (7) Made In The Woods 11/2, Ran to form when just tiring late on after a break, beaten 7½l in a Clonmel handicap hurdle last time. Effective at 3m and though inconsistent, he could build on that latest effort. May come on for 7.5l sixth at Clonmel, although he was fancied in the market. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (14) (12/1 +14%)Fox Le Bel |
12/1(+14%) | (14) Fox Le Bel 12/1, Found little when comfortably held in a Tramore handicap chase last time. Effective at 3m and acts with cut. Consistent prior to his break but still a maiden with questionable temperament. Winless from 33 attempts and three runs following an absence have been discouraging. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (13) (33/1 -18%)Spanish Maid |
33/1(-18%) | (13) Spanish Maid 33/1, Ran to form when fourth, beaten 20l, in a Fairyhouse handicap chase last time. Freshened up since and wants some cut in the ground, but remains out of form. 17-race maiden and yet to trouble the judge in six chase starts; hard to fancy. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (12) (15/2 +6%)Connemara Shore |
15/2(+6%) | (12) Connemara Shore 15/2, Made mistakes and weakened quickly when down the field in a Limerick handicap hurdle last time. Effective at 2½m. A point winner who has yet to show anything under rules. Point winner has yet to show much in 7 starts under Rules; makes chasing debut. |

|PU| (2) (25/1 -56%)Le Grand Vert |
25/1(-56%) | (2) Le Grand Vert 25/1, Outpaced and unsuited by the shorter trip when well beaten in a Down Royal handicap chase last time. Effective at 3m and prefers some ease in the ground. Well handicapped on old form but struggling of late; conditions should suit this time. Mixed bag since Ayr win in March; failed to complete twice before 32l defeat latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (33/1 -136%)North Of Nashville |
33/1(-136%) | (1) North Of Nashville 33/1, Unsuited by the drop in trip on her return to rules, finishing well beaten in a handicap chase at Punchestown last time. Effective at 3m and should come on for the run now stepped back up in distance. Lightly raced since 3m Wexford win in 2023; chance at her best. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (50/1 +0%)Buckaway Freddie |
50/1(+0%) | (4) Buckaway Freddie 50/1, Unseated rider in a handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse last time and wears a hood for the first time. Effective at 2m and acts with cut, but has struggled in handicaps so far over hurdles. Up against it on chase debut. Struggled in 4 starts for current trainer, but may do better over fences with headgear on. |

MADE IN THE WOODS won over a similar trip at Limerick for Norman Lee and again made a bold bid from the front when beaten a neck by Maciver at the same venue last March. He only weakened in the Clonmel straight over hurdles on his first start for Mick Winters and, with the benefit of that outing, should give a good account. Plain Or Battered stays well and was placed behind A Great Buzz in a similar Punchestown event on his penultimate start. Brown Boots has indicated some ability in handicap hurdles, including when staying on into fifth over 2m4f at Clonmel last week, and could be suited by the step up in trip as he switches to fences.

A bit of a minefield, but perhaps point runner-up DUCE BIGALOW can improve for this step up in trip

17/2(-143%) | (8) East Tyrone 17/2, Ran to form appreciating the step back up in trip when winning a classified race at Wolverhampton by a head last time; suited by 6f; needs to back up latest returned to handicaps. Ended losing run in a 0-50 at Wolverhampton 11 days ago; 1lb rise seems fair; contender. |

4th (2) (11/4 +8%)Bluebells Boy |
11/4(+8%) | (2) Bluebells Boy 11/4, Ran to form when beaten 3l off a 1lb higher mark at Wolverhampton last time; effective 5/6f; in decent form with the handicapper relenting. On losing run but he ended 2025 with some solid efforts over 5f; more appealing than many. |

9/2(+36%) | (6) Alashos 9/2, Every chance but a bit below form when beaten 3l off a 1lb higher mark here last time; suited by 6f; needs more. Poor strike-rate but latest run was okay and he lurks on a dangerous mark. |

6th (1) (8/1 -14%)Up The Anti |
8/1(-14%) | (1) Up The Anti 8/1, Scored by 1/2l off a 3lb lower mark at Kempton three starts back; top course trainer; usually held up; effective 6-8f; form in and out, could quickly bounce back down in trip. Two 7f defeats this month but still looked in form when fourth on Wednesday; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (80/1 -100%)Fitzmaurice |
80/1(-100%) | (7) Fitzmaurice 80/1, Every chance but below form when beaten 5 1/2l in a handicap here last time; effective 7/8f; in poor form and hard to fancy. Optimum trip yet to be established; unconvincing record and easy enough to swerve. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (50/1 -213%)Lady Kameko |
50/1(-213%) | (5) Lady Kameko 50/1, Every chance, stopped quickly when well beaten in a handicap at Wolverhampton latest; effective 8-10f; fair mark still but needs to bounce back. Well beaten on her last two starts and the drop to sprinting isn't the obvious answer. |

Hard to be too confident about any of these, but EAST TYRONE came good when refitted with blinkers (retained) in a classified race at Wolverhampton and a similar level of performance should see him go close on his return to handicap company. Em Jay Kay was only beaten half a length at Newcastle on Tuesday and stepping back up from 5f shouldn't bother him, while C&D winner Bluebells Boy also has a squeak.

A trappy race and EAST TYRONE is tentatively selected to follow up his recent classified win. Up The Anti is feared most.

Returns from a long layoff, now in a tongue-tie after a wind operation. Effective 2m4f-3m, acts on soft and good, and can run well again. Had wind surgery since last run; debut for new yard; market helpful. |

16/1(-33%) | (10) Jasmin De Cotte 16/1, Travelled but found little when well beaten in a handicap chase at Clonmel last time. Trainer in form and returns from a short break. |PU| (9) (50/1 -52%)Kilmore Rock |
50/1(-52%) | (9) Kilmore Rock 50/1, Pulled up in a handicap chase at Musselburgh last time. Enjoys making the running and is suited by 3m on decent ground. Needs to show more now back over hurdles. Completed hat-trick last spring; not in anything like the same form since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (80/1 +0%)Hillview |
80/1(+0%) | (1) Hillview 80/1, Needed the run when fourth, beaten 27l, in a handicap hurdle at Doncaster last time. Effective around 3m and best on a sound surface but has plenty to prove after a layoff. Well treated on best form but needs to prove he retains that ability. |

100/1(-52%) | (5) Ring O Roses 100/1, Too free and well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Windsor last time. Effective from 2m4f to 2m6f and acts on soft and good ground but has been inconsistent since joining from Ireland. Not solid on her form for new stable. |

Knomorediamonds was only caught in the final strides here last month and commands plenty of respect off a 2lb higher mark. High Dancer won over C&D last March and should benefit from stepping back up in distance after finishing second at Doncaster, but the vote goes to JUDICIAL DEFERENCE. Having run with plenty of promise on his Rules debut at Bangor, he went one better at Musselburgh just before Christmas and the seven-year-old appears to be fairly treated on his handicap bow.

With another step forward plausible returned to this C&D, HIGH DANCER is preferred. Brookside La is second choice.

6/1(+33%) | (1) Brewin'upastorm 6/1, Travelled well and looked likely to find more but ran respectably before being comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Aintree last time. Effective over 2m4f and handles any going; a former useful Graded winner working back to form after an absence. Won this race in 2021 and has since added three Grade 2s; recent efforts not too shoddy. |

5/2(-127%) | (4) Walk On High 5/2, Improved again when landing a handicap by 3 1/4l off a 5lb lower mark at Plumpton last time. Returns from a short break; effective at 2m4f and handles any ground. Progressive type with a strong chance again. Only 5lb higher than when doing it well at Plumpton and that was also after a break. |

WALK ON HIGH is unbeaten this season having landed a novice hurdle at Uttoxeter in May before returning from a break to score back in handicap company at Plumpton. With confidence high, the nine-year-old is expected to handle a 5lb rise. Aurigny Mill claimed this prize 12 months ago and he returns to hurdling after falling at Kempton on his chasing debut. First-time cheekpieces should also benefit him, while the veteran Brewin'upastorm wasn't disgraced when probably inconvenienced by hurdles being taken out due to the low sun at Aintree. The handicapper dropping him 4lb looks more than fair.

All five could run well. Marginal preference is for WALK ON HIGH who might be a 9yo but he has a progressive profile.

1st (3) (6/1 -33%)Jonbon |
6/1(-33%) | (3) Jonbon 6/1, A ten-time Grade 1 winner who took this race last year; returned to form at a favoured venue when second, beaten 9l, in the Tingle Creek Chase (Grade 1) at Sandown last time; effective at 2m; a top-class chaser, generally consistent away from Cheltenham but may not be quite as good as he was; work to do to reverse form with favourite. Formerly dominant in this division but twice readily outpointed by Il Etait Temps in 2025. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (9/1 -29%)Thistle Ask |
9/1(-29%) | (4) Thistle Ask 9/1, Won the Desert Orchid Handicap Chase (Grade 2) at Kempton by 10l last time; enjoys racing prominently; effective from 2m to 2m3f, acts on good to soft and good; not the easiest to keep sound but has improved markedly for his current yard and merits a chance at this level; will need to find plenty more though. 4-4 on good ground for new yard; hard to discount but will need another personal best. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (2) (2/5 +35%)Il Etait Temps |
2/5(+35%) | (2) Il Etait Temps 2/5, Won the Tingle Creek Chase (Grade 1) at Sandown by 9l last time; effective from 2m to 2½m, acts on soft and good; top class and still unexposed in open company at the top level, regarded as the leading 2m chaser though Cheltenham form remains a concern for spring; should be taking this en route. 7-9 over fences and slammed Jonbon by 9l in the Tingle Creek; has excellent credentials. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (7/1 +7%)Gidleigh Park |
7/1(+7%) | (1) Gidleigh Park 7/1, Ran to form when tiring late after a layoff, doing best of those prominent when second, beaten 9l, in the 1965 Chase (Grade 2) here last time; suited by 2m4f, acts on heavy and good to soft; progressing over fences with strong recent form for the grade; may just find this on the sharp side. Good second to top-class Jango Baie on return; more needed today but should still go well. |

It will be interesting to see how Jonbon fares with Harry Cobden in the saddle for the first time as he bids to follow up last year's success. That said, the task at hand is a lot tougher with his Tingle Creek conqueror IL ETAIT TEMPS making the trip over from Ireland. Willie Mullins bids for a fourth win in the contest after saddling Un De Sceaux to three consecutive victories and it is difficult to see Jonbon finding nine lengths and more to reverse the form. Gidleigh Park is interesting dropping back in trip but has plenty to find on figures, while the much-improved Thistle Ask will ensure there are no hiding places on the front end.

Jonbon again looks vulnerable to IL ETAIT TEMPS who hammered him in the Tingle Creek. Gidleigh Park may pose the main threat.

8/11(-9%) | (5) The Irish Avatar 8/11, Promising debut when runner-up, beaten 2 1/2l in a maiden point at Dromahane on only start; trainer in form and returns from a long layoff; the pointer has joined a top yard and should progress under rules. £200,000 buy after second in a Dromahane maiden for Colin Bowe, could be hard to beat. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (3/1 -33%)Low Kick |
3/1(-33%) | (3) Low Kick 3/1, From a yard that won this last year; keen and not clear run when a promising 2l third in an Amateurs' bumper at Aintree; effective at 2m, acts on good ground, and should improve with experience. The one to beat on form. Beaten favourite in a British point before a promising third in a bumper at Aintree. |

3/1(+57%) | (2) Liskeveen 3/1, Crystal Ocean gelding; half-brother to Get Up Mush, useful at 25f. Stable gets first time out winners in both codes; very interesting. Has a decent pedigree and may challenge for a share of the money on debut. |

4th (4) (50/1 -25%)Native Deal |
50/1(-25%) | (4) Native Deal 50/1, Below debut form when comfortably held in a bumper here last time; effective at 2m but has plenty to find. Fair fifth on Down Royal debut last May, dropped out tamely in C&D event on reappearance. |

20/1(+39%) | (1) Givemegetmebuyme 20/1, Outpaced and never threatened when well beaten in a 4yo bumper at Leopardstown on only start; needs to find plenty of improvement. Never managed to land a blow on debut in a strong Leopardstown contest, may do better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (100/1 -100%)Ri Ra |
100/1(-100%) | (8) Ri Ra 100/1, Made too much use of when modest on debut and well beaten in a bumper at Leopardstown on only start; this is easier but she still has plenty to prove. Raced too keenly on belated debut at Leopardstown; ended up 2l behind Any News For Me. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (50/1 +0%)Any News For Me |
50/1(+0%) | (7) Any News For Me 50/1, Outpaced and modest on debut when well beaten in a bumper at Leopardstown on only start; may need a trip beyond 2m in time. Met some interference off the home turn first time out at Leopardstown, may improve. |

THE IRISH AVATAR was second on his only point-to-point start for Colin Bowe at Dromahane last April and that race has thrown up a number of winners. The Poet's Word gelding, out of a Grade 2 winner, was subsequently snapped up for 200,000 pounds to join the champion trainer. Low Kick didn't enjoy the clearest of passages when placed in an Aintree bumper for Jack Teal last spring and was purchased by for 170,000 pounds shortly afterwards. Liskeveen hails from a yard that has won eight bumpers in the past six months, and the Crystal Ocean gelding is a half-brother to three winners.

Both top stables have a recruit here. THE IRISH AVATOR, second at Dromahane for Colin Bowe, gets the vote over Low Kick

C&D win in October; fair third here last month; more needed upped in class. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (40/1 -60%)Dodging The Bullet |
40/1(-60%) | (4) Dodging The Bullet 40/1, Never in the race when down the field in a juvenile hurdle at Newbury most recently; trainer in form; effective over 1m on AW and may stay a bit further despite breeding; fairly consistent prior to poor spell hurdling but needs a bit more now handicapping. Promise in 1m maidens here last summer; poor hurdle form since; tough opening mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (9/2 +36%)Meet Me In Meraki |
9/2(+36%) | (1) Meet Me In Meraki 9/2, Scored by 4 1/4l off a 5lb lower mark at Wolverhampton in October; had too much to do but ran to form when fourth beaten 1/2l off 70 last time, same mark here; effective 8-12f, acts on any surface, and in good form. Kept on well for a close 4th over C&D last week; solid claims off the same mark. |

7th (7) (28/1 -133%)Bohemian Breeze |
28/1(-133%) | (7) Bohemian Breeze 28/1, Ran to form but wanted a stiffer test when beaten 9l in a handicap hurdle at Kempton last time; off a short break; effective 2m and acts on AW; in good flat form, unexposed over hurdles, and opening mark looks lenient. Last 1m2f run saw him win at Brighton; back from three months off; fair mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (6) (9/1 +25%)Riyadh Gem |
9/1(+25%) | (6) Riyadh Gem 9/1, Ran to form when 4l third in a handicap at Wolverhampton last time; effective 8-10f and acts on AW; below last winning mark and needs to build on latest. Best run for new yard when 3rd at Wolverhampton 18 days ago; has something to build on now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (2) (16/1 +27%)Lenny's Spirit |
16/1(+27%) | (2) Lenny's Spirit 16/1, Keen but ran to form when beaten 2l off a 1lb higher mark here last time; best form at 10/11f and acts on AW; on last winning mark, needs to build on latest revival. Behind Meet Me In Meraki last week but running himself back into form; not discounted. |

It's difficult to get away from TOMMY'S PROMISE, who has won his last three starts, including twice over C&D, in a convincing manner. He doesn't have recent partner Donagh Murphy taking 7lb off his back and has a further 5lb rise to deal with, but he is still very much the one to beat under Darragh Keenan, who was aboard for the Chelmsford victory in early December. Meet Me In Meraki was a close-up fourth here last week and should run well again, as should bottom-weight Muy Muy Loco.

Tommy's Promise has more to do today and Meet Me In Meraki and LENNY'S SPIRIT are preferred.

9/4(+10%) | (7) Koukeo 9/4, Won comfortably, improving under a positive ride when dropped in trip on chase debut after a break, landing a handicap by 10l off an 8lb lower mark at Windsor last time; effective 2m-2m6f on soft or good; more to come over fences. Impressive on chase debut on New Year's Day and could take an 8lb rise in his stride. |

5/2(+38%) | (2) Escapeandevade 5/2, Rallied gamely and ran to form when better jumping proved decisive, landing a handicap by 1/2l off a 5lb lower mark here last time; enjoys making it; effective at 2m on soft; revised mark will demand more. Nicely clear with the runner-up when winning over C&D last month; respected up 5lb. |

11/2(-100%) | (8) Kykorock 11/2, Improved again landing a handicap by 3l off a 7lb lower mark at Market Rasen last time; trainer in form; usually held up; effective 2m, acts with cut; more to come over fences. 2-2 over fences and could still be well treated for his top yard. |

15/2(+0%) | (3) Hardy Du Seuil 15/2, Scored by 1/2l off a 4lb lower mark at Windsor penultimate start; outclassed up in grade last time and now 1lb lower; effective 2m-2m4f, acts on soft and good; mark looks high enough. Rare run over fences; tailed off over hurdles last time but won in that sphere in November. |

5th (10) (7/1 +56%)Willie Shake Hands |
7/1(+56%) | (10) Willie Shake Hands 7/1, Travelled, flattened out late, needed run, ran well for a long way beaten 2l off this mark at Doncaster last time; effective 2m, acts on G; generally consistent. Has done well since being switched to fences but career-best needed now back up in grade. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (25/1 -56%)Classic Maestro |
25/1(-56%) | (1) Classic Maestro 25/1, Unseated in a graduation chase at Carlisle last time; likes to race in front; off a short break; effective over 2m and suited by plenty of cut; progressive last term. C&D winner but race-fitness is a query and his best form has come on soft/heavy ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (18/1 -80%)Mr Grey Sky |
18/1(-80%) | (6) Mr Grey Sky 18/1, Built on recent return to form when landing a handicap by a length off a 2lb lower mark at Leicester last time; returning from a long layoff; effective around 2m with cut; can go well after a small rise. 12yo who is racing for first time since last February, but won back then and not ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) (20/1 +29%)Grey Diamond |
20/1(+29%) | (9) Grey Diamond 20/1, Stable has won three of the last eight renewals; made late gains and ran to form when 10l third in a handicap chase at Bangor-on-Dee last time; usually held up; effective around 2m on heavy or good ground; can go well. Encouraging third at Bangor following a break but this 12yo is winless since March 2023. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (4) (22/1 -83%)Palamon |
22/1(-83%) | (4) Palamon 22/1, Below form when comfortably held in a beginners' chase at Wexford last time; trainer in form; off a short break; effective 2m-2m4f on soft or good ground; needs to find more. Promising chase debut, then jumping held him back; first run for Dan Skelton; watch market. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (125/1 -25%)Stormin Crossgales |
125/1(-25%) | (5) Stormin Crossgales 125/1, Unseated in a handicap chase at Ludlow last time; enjoys making it; effective 2m-2m5f on soft or good to soft ground; inconsistent and the form of his spring win looks weak. Four chase wins last term but plenty to prove on this season's evidence. |

KYKOROCK has improved plenty since going over the larger obstacles and arrives seeking a hat-trick after scoring at Warwick and Market Rasen. Dan Skelton's gelding doesn't appear to have reached his ceiling just yet and makes considerable appeal once again, despite going up another 7lb. Koukeo made a successful start over fences at Windsor on New Year's Day and has to be respected along with C&D winner Escapeandevade and Willie Shake Hands.

This could go to ESCAPEANDEVADE, who came clear with the runner-up when winning over C&D four weeks ago. Kykorock is second choice.

11/8(+59%) | (13) Ted The Thief 11/8, Ran to form beaten 3 1/4l off a 2lb lower mark at Wincanton last time; effective up to 2m5f-3m3f, acts on GS; more to come as a chaser. Close up in 2m5f/3m2f handicaps the last twice and looks a player. |

25/1(-25%) | (9) Sweet Nightingale 25/1, Pulled up in a handicap chase at Hereford last time; effective over 2m to 2m4f and suited by a sound surface; had been in form until that run. Each-way claims on her good-ground form but even good to soft seems troublesome. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (22/1 -83%)School For Scandal |
22/1(-83%) | (7) School For Scandal 22/1, Scored by a neck off a 4lb lower mark at Windsor two starts ago; below form when the ground may have been too soft last time, 2lb lower here; effective from 2m7f to 3m2f, acts on good to soft and good to firm ground; would not want rain. There's a bit of all or nothing about him but he's won two of his last four races. |

9/1(+10%) | (8) Daring Plan 9/1, Ran to current form when 18l third in a handicap chase at Fontwell last time; effective over 2m4f on heavy and good ground; respected on latest showing. Maiden; questionable what he achieved with a well-held third at Fontwell the last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (12) (12/1 +52%)Holkham Hall |
12/1(+52%) | (12) Holkham Hall 12/1, Below form back under rules when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Wincanton last time; effective over 2m4f to 3m in points; hard to fancy back chasing. First run under rules since 2022 when beaten 13l in a 3m handicap hurdle in December. |

Running well until last time but he remains on a realistic mark if bouncing back. |

40/1(+39%) | (15) Alderley Charlie 40/1, Pulled up in a handicap chase at Exeter last time; wears cheekpieces for the first time but has looked very poor to date and has plenty to find. Showed little over hurdles at up to 2m7f and again on his switch to fences at Exeter. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (10) (12/1 -100%)Watchoutitscookie |
12/1(-100%) | (10) Watchoutitscookie 12/1, Returned to form back over hurdles beaten 1/2l off a 6lb lower mark at Wincanton last time; off a short-break; effective 2m4f-3m, acts on GS, G; not the most reliable but capable. Runner-up over hurdles latest but an infrequent winner who can be inconsistent. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (6) (12/1 -9%)Lough Owel |
12/1(-9%) | (6) Lough Owel 12/1, Didn't handle the ground when pulled up in a handicap chase at Fontwell last time; effective from 3m to 3m2f on good ground; a frustrating maiden. Had made a pleasing start in this discipline only to underperform the last twice. |

|PU| (11) (9/1 +44%)Steal The Moves |
9/1(+44%) | (11) Steal The Moves 9/1, Below form when well beaten in a handicap chase at Leicester last time; effective up to 3m, acts on heavy and good ground; needs to bounce back. Below best last time but comeback run was okay and he wouldn't be exposed just yet. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (14) (33/1 +34%)Break Heart Hill |
33/1(+34%) | (14) Break Heart Hill 33/1, Made mistakes and ran poorly when well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Fontwell last time; effective over 2m4f, acts on good ground; basement mark not enough to recommend on chase debut. Insufficient promise over hurdles to be of any great interest on this chasing debut. |

This isn't as competitive as the numbers would suggest and the vote goes to TED THE THIEF. Robert Walford's six-year-old has run well on both of his starts over fences, most recently finishing third at Wincanton. That, at the very least, suggested he is up to winning races at this level and with further improvement anticipated, he should go close. Faitque De L'Isle let favourite-backers down at Windsor but is more appealing than many. Watchoutitscookie returns to fences following a good second over hurdles.

Faitque de L'Isle is respected but TED THE THIEF perhaps has the most upside of all these after a pleasing start over fences.

9/1(+25%) | (8) Uptown Dandy 9/1, Outpaced by the winner but rallied and looked to need a stiffer test, running to form when second beaten 1 1/4l in a novice hurdle at Doncaster last time behind classy rival. Effective around 2 1/2m and acts on soft and good; debut form franked and longer trips should suit. Proving consistent and beaten off only on run-in at Doncaster last time; not ruled out. |

Kasino Des Mottes struck at Kempton before not being beaten far in a Grade 2 at Cheltenham's December meeting. The drop in trip is unlikely to hamper him, but LAGUNA BEACH is preferred. The form of his Hereford victory received a boost earlier in the week when the third came out and won at the same venue. The five-year-old has progressed with each run to date and shapes as though he has further progression to come. The Burren Man, Tobyshill and Uptown Dandy add further spice to what could be an informative contest.

With his hurdles form working out well, LAGUNA BEACH heads the list, although The Burren Man could be anything.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (11/2 +54%)Prairie Diamond |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (12/1 -20%)Best Night |
12/1(-20%) | (3) Best Night 12/1, Improved back down in trip when second, beaten 7 1/2l, in a Taunton handicap hurdle last time. Effective at 2m on soft or good ground. Needs to build on that improvement. Ran well in defeat over 2m here recently and might have untapped potential over this trip. |

5th (6) (12/1 -50%)Taritino |
12/1(-50%) | (6) Taritino 12/1, Taken on up front and did too much too soon when comfortably held in a Wincanton handicap hurdle last time. Likes to make the running. Effective at 2m on a sound surface but needs to step up. Won here last spring but may find today's trip-and-ground combination too taxing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (12) (14/1 -40%)Sawpit Sienna |
14/1(-40%) | (12) Sawpit Sienna 14/1, Travelled well in reapplied blinkers when beaten 6l in a Taunton handicap hurdle last time. Off a short break. Effective from 2m to 2m3f on soft or good to firm ground. Can go well again. Long in the tooth now but ran well over C&D in November; could have a say. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (11) (18/1 +36%)Mancero |
18/1(+36%) | (11) Mancero 18/1, Pulled up in a Wincanton handicap hurdle last time. Blinkers on for the first time. Off a short break. Effective at 2m and may need easier ground. Hard to fancy on recent evidence. Won over hurdles in France but soundly beaten in two British handicaps in the autumn. |

12/1(-200%) | (7) Bigz Belief 12/1, Back to form dropped in grade when second, beaten 8 1/2l, in a Leicester selling hurdle last time. Likes to make the running. Effective from 2m to 2m4f on soft or good ground. Needs more back in a handicap. Battled on for modest second in recent seller but needs a better performance here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (10) (33/1 +0%)Saucats |
33/1(+0%) | (10) Saucats 33/1, Outpaced and never threatened when down the field in a Windsor handicap hurdle last time. Usually held up. Effective at 2m on soft or good ground. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (13) (100/1 -52%)Absolut Grey |
100/1(-52%) | (13) Absolut Grey 100/1, Ran poorly after a wind operation, finishing down the field in a Taunton handicap hurdle last time. Second run since the procedure. Showed promise in points at 2m4f but yet to show anything under rules. Went close in a point last spring but has shown no worthwhile form under rules since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (9) (50/1 -79%)Cotton End |
50/1(-79%) | (9) Cotton End 50/1, Raced too freely and needed the run when fourth, beaten 20l, in a Ludlow handicap hurdle last time. Off a short break. Effective at 2m4f on good ground. Has a bit to prove at present. Veteran; easily brushed aside after making the running on rules return in November. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (8) (66/1 -136%)Lucky Bounce |
66/1(-136%) | (8) Lucky Bounce 66/1, Pulled up in a Ffos Las handicap hurdle last time after a short break. Effective around 3m on good ground. Would not want rain. Returned from mammoth absence with 3m win last May; pulled up both runs since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (14) (125/1 -25%)Poet's Reflection |
125/1(-25%) | (14) Poet's Reflection 125/1, Pulled up in a Taunton handicap hurdle last time after a short break. Effective from 2m to 2m2f on soft or good ground. Badly out of form. Has not completed a race since spring 2024 and cannot be recommended. |

Although no match for an impressive scorer at Lingfield, the form has been franked so Little Ledgend should be a threat to all from 2lb lower. Best Night bumped into a similarly commanding winner over the extended 2m here and is a player, although it is BEL OMBRE who shades preference. Neil Mulholland's gelding was well held at big prices in maiden/novice company, but he goes handicapping from a fair opening mark and may well take a leap forward.

There is probably still a bigger performance in LITTLE LEDGEND (nap), who performed well in his first two handicaps.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (10/1 0%)Ernie's Valentine |
10/1(0%) | (3) Ernie's Valentine 10/1, Scored by a nose off a 1lb lower mark at Wolverhampton in November but below form last time. Now 2lb lower, effective 7-9f and appears better on all-weather; still fairly treated. Seven-time AW winner whose last win was off 1lb lower; dangerous if he gets a good pace. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (11) (16/1 -60%)Mercurius Power |
16/1(-60%) | (11) Mercurius Power 16/1, Found little when below form, beaten 6l in a Newcastle handicap last time but was in good form prior. Effective at 8f, all recent form on all-weather; needs to bounce back. Now 1lb lower than for last win and has claims if he can rediscover his spark. |

6th (5) (4/1 +33%)Terries Royale |
4/1(+33%) | (5) Terries Royale 4/1, Found little and was below form when beaten 6l in a handicap at Chelmsford last time. From a top course trainer and suited by 7/8f; bit to prove at present. On reduced mark and he's still unexposed on AW but others are more convincing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (13/2 +7%)Double Time |
13/2(+7%) | (4) Double Time 13/2, Ran to form when held and tightened up late, beaten 2 1/2l off a 1lb higher mark here last time. Effective at 8f and acts on all-weather; needs a bit more from this mark. Won at Kempton in October and he ran better than bare facts over C&D latest; in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (10) (50/1 -213%)Havana Touch |
50/1(-213%) | (10) Havana Touch 50/1, No-show from off the pace when finishing down the field in a handicap at Chelmsford most recent. Effective 7/8f and acts on all-weather; looks vulnerable. On workable mark but he's struggled in his last three runs and has plenty to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (12) (7/2 +61%)Miners Gamble |
7/2(+61%) | (12) Miners Gamble 7/2, Too keen but ran to form when beaten 2 1/4l off this mark at Chelmsford last time. Effective over 8-10f and acts on all-weather; inconsistent performer. Record of 1-22 but he's been in fair form on AW last twice; not ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (7) (9/1 -64%)Al Hofzan |
9/1(-64%) | (7) Al Hofzan 9/1, Best work late beaten 1 1/4l off this mark at Wolverhampton last time; effective 7f, acts on AW; more to come up in trip. Unexposed 4yo who ran well on his handicap debut at Wolverhampton; respected upped in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (1) (12/1 -20%)Love Your Work |
12/1(-20%) | (1) Love Your Work 12/1, Scored by a short-head off a 2lb lower mark at Wolverhampton penultimate start; well below form last time, 2lb lower here; suited by 8-10f, acts on S, G and AW; bounce back needed. 12-time AW winner who scored at Wolverhampton last month but he flopped there last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (8) (50/1 -52%)Far Ahead |
50/1(-52%) | (8) Far Ahead 50/1, Found little and was well below form down the field in a handicap at Newcastle most recently. Effective over 7f and acts on all-weather; bit to prove at present. Still lightly raced and mark is tumbling but he needs a big turnaround. |

Double Time, Havana Touch and Ernie's Valentine are all on workable ratings, but they have their flaws and none is without risk. AL HOFZAN is a far less-exposed contender who won't need to raise his game much after posting a respectable effort over 7f on his handicap debut at Wolverhampton. Running off the same mark, Georgina Nicholls' gelding gets the vote based on potential.

The vote goes to AL HOFZAN who is unexposed and is open to more progress at this new trip. Double Time is feared most.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (20/1 -67%)Norcross Brow |
20/1(-67%) | (7) Norcross Brow 20/1, Very disappointing when upped in trip on first all-weather start, well beaten in a Chelmsford novice last time. Effective at 8f but has something to prove for now. Opening mark looks on the high side but he could kick on again back at this trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (14/1 +30%)Fermain |
14/1(+30%) | (1) Fermain 14/1, Raced wide on the home turn and had too much to do when beaten 3l off a 3lb higher mark at Lingfield last time. Wears a tongue-tie for the first time. Effective at 5/6f on the all-weather; easing mark gives a chance to go well. Down the field in three handicaps but this new trip is worth exploring; tongue-tie added. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (17/2 +15%)Popty Ping |
17/2(+15%) | (8) Popty Ping 17/2, Scored by a head off a 5lb lower mark here two runs back. Held up off a slow pace but probably ran to form last time from the same mark. Effective 6-8f on the all-weather and consistent since fitted with headgear. Just 1-11 but has a solid record in AW handicaps; should be in the mix again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (18/1 -50%)Charming Doll |
18/1(-50%) | (3) Charming Doll 18/1, Made a bit too much use of over a longer trip when fourth, beaten 6l in a novice here last time. Effective at 7/8f on the all-weather and still open to improvement. Handicap newcomer who showed promise in novice/maiden events; needs watching in market. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (6/4 +25%)Beckon |
6/4(+25%) | (5) Beckon 6/4, Travelled best and won cosily by a length in a Newcastle novice last time. Stays 8f and may stay further; effective on the all-weather and has more to come. Won 1m novice last month and she's open to more progress on handicap debut; big player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) (9/1 +64%)Archangel Josepi |
9/1(+64%) | (9) Archangel Josepi 9/1, Ran to the balance of form in cheekpieces when third, beaten 8 1/2l in a handicap here last time. Effective at 6f, only just stays 8f; acts on the all-weather and may be a little high in the weights. Inconsistent eight-race maiden and others are more convincing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (10) (33/1 +18%)Crystal Aurora |
33/1(+18%) | (10) Crystal Aurora 33/1, Failed to figure from off the pace when beaten 7 1/4l in a nursery here last time. Returns from a short break; effective at 6/7f on the all-weather and respected back up in trip. Six-race maiden who has been up and down so far and is untried at this trip; down the list. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (11) (25/1 -79%)Sweet Mabel |
25/1(-79%) | (11) Sweet Mabel 25/1, May not have stayed the longer trip when well beaten in a Wolverhampton maiden last time. Trainer in form; bred to be effective at 7-10f on the all-weather but only minor promise so far. Unexposed filly but she needs a transformation back in trip on handicap debut. |

MASKATTO returned from a short break to cement the theory that he is capable of further progress by scoring in a game manner in a maiden at Lingfield a fortnight ago. That was his first attempt at a mile and he steps into a handicap on a very attractive mark. Recent Newcastle winner and fellow handicap debutant Beckon has similar scope and is taken seriously in her follow-up bid. Popty Ping is reliably effective on Tapeta and is another to seriously consider.

The vote goes to the unexposed BECKON, who won at Newcastle last month and is open to more progress on her handicap debut.

10/1(+29%) | (2) Balqaa 10/1, Below form after a slow start and well beaten in a classified race here last time. 11/1(+56%) | (5) Mickey Mongoose 11/1, Found little and was below form when beaten 6 1/4l in a handicap here last time. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (7) (50/1 +0%)Stoneacre |
50/1(+0%) | (7) Stoneacre 50/1, A bit below form when tried in cheekpieces and well beaten in a classified race at Ffos Las last time. Returning from a break and needs to show more to feature. Poor maiden who was well held when last seen in August; difficult to recommend. |

PINK SOCKS is hard to oppose after emphatic successes at Newcastle and here over 7f on Tuesday. Even the welter burden of 10st 7lb fails to diminish her chances of completing a hat-trick, with Ryan Kavanagh's 5lb claim helping in that regard. Of the opposition, Taskheer has the most convincing recent form and looks the logical one for the forecast. Dash Power and Balqaa complete the shortlist.

Most of these have lots to prove but PINK SOCKS has won her last two starts and may well be able to complete the hat-trick.

7th (6) (50/1 -100%)Summer Evening |
50/1(-100%) | (6) Summer Evening 50/1, Outpaced and never threatened when beaten 5 1/4l in a handicap here last time; yet to show any reliable form. Well held at big prices in all six runs including two over 6f/7f here this month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (66/1 -100%)Mr Slicker |
66/1(-100%) | (3) Mr Slicker 66/1, Raced wide, made too much use of, and found little when down the field in a handicap here most recently; was in good form prior and returns from a long layoff; effective at 8f on AW and needs to bounce back. 12yo who has not won since 2023 and has plenty to prove on his return. |

Secret Road found only one too strong when bidding for a hat-trick at Chelmsford and he merits the utmost respect, despite giving weight away all round, but RELEVANT RANGE gets the nod. Ivan Furtado's charge went agonisingly close over C&D before bumping into a progressive rival at Newcastle. On favourable terms, especially when taking into account Jordan Nason's 3lb claim, compensation may await. Spirit Of Bowland heads the remainder.

This is a tight call between Relevant Range and SECRET ROAD but the vote goes to James Owen's resurgent 8yo.

22/1(+67%) | (3) Inherent Resolve 22/1, Made too much use of from a wide draw and was comfortably held in a novice at Chelmsford last time; should get 8f, yet to prove it; the type to do better in handicaps. Ralph Beckett has been in irresistible form so his 175,000gns newcomer You Got To My Soul, who is related to a host of useful performers, must feature prominently in calculations. Fellow debutant Knowledge warrants a market check, but this could be all about the returning VENETIAN PRINCE. Far from disgraced in a red-hot Newmarket maiden in July, Andrew Balding's colt was one of a number to enhance the form next time. He's sure to have loftier targets when the turf campaign resumes, but connections will be hopeful that he is forward enough today.

Top of the list is Newbury winner VENETIAN PRINCE who sets a good standard under a penalty on his return.

6th (1) (11/2 +0%)Northern Spirit |
11/2(+0%) | (1) Northern Spirit 11/2, Never in it after awkward start beaten 6l in a handicap at Newcastle last time; in good form prior; effective 5/6f, acts on S, G and AW; better than showed latest. Four-time Tapeta winner and he's a player if he can get back near best; had wind surgery. |

NORTHERN SPIRIT appeared to have excuses at Newcastle when slowly away and weakening in the closing stages. A subsequent wind operation should aid his cause and the six-year-old is only 2lb higher than for his last success at Gosforth Park in August. Star Chorus was left on the same mark after his third at Lingfield last week and is capable of being in the mix, while the drop back to 5f gives Ay Gee Ell every chance of being competitive.

4yo AY GEE ELL (nap) was an emphatic winner over C&D on his penultimate run and he could resume his progress on this drop back in trip.

Has not been beaten far on his last three starts including when third over C&D last month.. |

MR NUGGET has won twice at this venue, including on his penultimate start, and the five-year-old ran with plenty of credit under a 5lb penalty at Lingfield a fortnight ago. His recent consistency further aids his cause and this appears to be an excellent opportunity to get his head back in front. Harlington didn't seem to stay 2m at Goodwood when last seen and is better judged on his efforts prior. Hackney Diamonds heads the remainder.

This looks to be a good opportunity for the consistent MR NUGGET to resume winning ways. He has most to fear from Hackney Diamonds.

10th (5) (9/1 -64%)Woody Y Fernandez |
9/1(-64%) | (5) Woody Y Fernandez 9/1, Had too much to do when beaten 2 1/4l off this mark at Chelmsford last time. Off a short break; effective at 6f and acts on all-weather; still a maiden but on a workable mark and in form. Ran respectably when favourite for similar event at Chelmsford last time.. |

Mademoiselle Belle was no match for a well-bred rival who has since won twice over C&D on New Year's Day and a repeat of that effort would see her bang in contention. That said, the less-exposed AL NAJASHI shades the vote. Ollie Sangster's colt showed some promise in a couple of runs at Wolverhampton and the return to 6f appears likely to suit on his handicap debut. Woody Y Fernandez and Mythical Night can fight it out for the minor honours.

Another chance is given to WOODY Y FERNANDEZ who finished third at Chelmsford last time. Mademoiselle Belle is next best.
Ths is the racecard key.
