1st (4) (5/4 +58%)Rising Force |
5/4(+58%) | (4) Rising Force 5/4, Bit free but ran to form when beaten 1 1/4l off this mark at Kempton last time; effective at 7-8f on a sound surface. In form, though the mark demands a little more. C&D winner; solid third for current yard at Kempton week ago; in the mix off same mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (100/1 -203%)Summer Evening |
100/1(-203%) | (8) Summer Evening 100/1, Forced wide from a poor draw and was well beaten in a classified race at Southwell last time. Cheekpieces go on for the first time but she has yet to show any reliable form. Beat only one in 1m Southwell handicap four days ago; cheekpieces are reached for now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (16/1 -60%)Semser |
16/1(-60%) | (7) Semser 16/1, Found little when beaten 7l in a handicap here last time but had been in good form prior. Drawn wide; effective at 7-10f and suited by the all-weather. Still on a fair mark. C&D scorer but he's an unreliable sort; headgear again left off and others are preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (11/4 +8%)Vizzavona Lady |
11/4(+8%) | (1) Vizzavona Lady 11/4, Returned to best when dropped back in trip, winning a handicap by 1 1/4l off a 5lb lower mark at Kempton last time; effective at 7f and handles the all-weather. Not always reliable in repeating good runs and stamina remains to be proven. Settled better than usual when scoring at Kempton a week ago; a player under 5lb pen. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (12/1 -50%)Ciotog |
12/1(-50%) | (3) Ciotog 12/1, Hinted at a revival when just tiring late, beaten 3l off a 2lb higher mark at Wolverhampton last time; effective up to 10f and handles the all-weather. Needs more than of late but the handicapper is easing, and the drop in trip looks suitable. Step back in right direction with Wolver fourth 19 days ago; needs considering. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (10/1 -25%)Whiteley Way |
10/1(-25%) | (6) Whiteley Way 10/1, Bit free but ran to form when beaten 4l off a 1lb higher mark at Wolverhampton last time after a short break. Effective at 7-10f and handles the all-weather. In good form and worth consideration again. Yet to register a victory but she arrives in good nick; one for the shortlist eased 1lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (8/1 -60%)Knightmare |
8/1(-60%) | (5) Knightmare 8/1, Bit free but rallied gamely to run to form, beaten 1 1/4l off this mark at Kempton last time; effective at 6-7f and goes well on the all-weather. Well treated off an unchanged mark and a strong player if stamina holds out. Good second for new yard at Kempton week ago; must enter calculations off unchanged mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) (13/2 -8%)Joycean Way |
13/2(-8%) | (2) Joycean Way 13/2, Ran to form when fourth, beaten 5 1/4l in a claimer at Leicester last time after a short break. Effective at 7-8f and proven on the all-weather. In good form, and the step back up in trip should suit. Remains winless and a below-par fourth in 7f Leicester claimer in October; more is needed. |

VIZZAVONA LADY accounted for Knightmare when winning a similar event over 7f at Kempton a week ago. A 5lb penalty for that success is a slight concern, but the four-year-old is more likely to be suited by this step up in trip and that just gives her the edge. The runner-up cannot be discounted, though, while Rising Force was third that day and is another to note.

Jack Jones's VIZZAVONA LADY proved much more settled under the experienced Eireann Cagney when scoring at Kempton and can defy a 5lb pen

1st (2) (6/4 +50%)Ladronne |
6/4(+50%) | (2) Ladronne 6/4, Won by 4 1/2l off a 4lb lower mark at Sedgefield three starts back. Made mistakes and ran below form up in class when fourth, beaten 26l off 115 last time, now 1lb lower. Effective from 2m5f to 3m; drop in grade should help. In good form prior to Doncaster last time but he could bounce back now back down in grade. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (5/2 +55%)Gold Emery |
5/2(+55%) | (6) Gold Emery 5/2, Ran well to a point but found little when fourth, beaten 21l in a handicap chase at Haydock last time. Effective up to 3m2f and handles heavy and good to soft ground. Generally consistent but a frustrating maiden over fences. 0-13 over fences but ran well more often than not in 2025; has a chance on veterans' debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (7/2 +13%)My Bobby Dazzler |
7/2(+13%) | (4) My Bobby Dazzler 7/2, Pulled up in a handicap chase at Market Rasen last time. Effective at around 3m and well treated on old form, but there are concerns about enthusiasm. Career-low mark but has lost his race at the start on two of his last four outings. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (12/1 -200%)Carrigeen Castle |
12/1(-200%) | (5) Carrigeen Castle 12/1, Fell in a handicap chase at Wetherby last time after a short break. Effective up to 2m4f and handles soft ground. Running off his last winning mark but still has stamina to prove. Big step back in right direction at Wetherby; could play a leading role if backing that up. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (7/1 +13%)Fern Hill |
7/1(+13%) | (3) Fern Hill 7/1, Scored by 3 1/4l off a 2lb lower mark at Huntingdon three starts back. Trainer in form. Effective from 2m4f to 3m but not certain to stay further. Prefers a sound surface and should benefit from the drop in trip and better ground. Ran well for very long way over 3m5f at Fakenham; could be involved now back down in trip. |

GOLD EMERY hasn't won over this sort of trip since his point-to-point days, but that doesn't tell the whole story. The Donald McCain-trained 10-year-old had Fern Hill (fifth) almost 18 lengths behind him when they met at Wetherby at the start of last month and he can significantly better that third-placed finish on slightly better terms. C&D winner Ladronne and Tiger Orchid both concede plenty of weight to the selection, but are capable of being on the premises.

Having dropped back to his last winning mark CARRIGEEN CASTLE was running a big race when falling at the final fence at Wetherby.

1st (7) (5/1 -82%)Allegrino |
5/1(-82%) | (7) Allegrino 5/1, Had a good trip on the inner and ran to form when 3/4l third in a maiden at Chelmsford last time; wide draw; suited by 6f and acts on AW; has reached a solid level. Closely matched with Evenepoel; seems speedy and goes an extra furlong here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (10/11 +64%)Foothold |
10/11(+64%) | (4) Foothold 10/11, Pulled too hard off a break but ran an excellent race when second, beaten a head in a maiden here last time; effective at 1m, may stay further; more to come if settling better as he goes up in trip. Clear at one stage before headed late on by the favourite here last time (1m). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (66/1 +0%)Portman Blue |
66/1(+0%) | (1) Portman Blue 66/1, 20,000gns Sergei Prokofiev gelding; half-brother to Mr Large, useful at 8f as a 2yo; dam very useful at 7f at 2yo; tough enough task on debut. 20,000gns yearling; lacks experience and partnered by a 7lb claimer; best watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (5/1 -82%)High Chieftain |
5/1(-82%) | (5) High Chieftain 5/1, Raced wide and improved for the step up in distance when second, beaten 1/2l in a maiden at Wolverhampton last time; effective at 7f and may stay further; a workmanlike sort with a good attitude and open to progress. Well placed in a modestly-run race when just missing out at Wolverhampton. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (5/2 +17%)Evenepoel |
5/2(+17%) | (3) Evenepoel 5/2, Flat out throughout and outstayed rivals when winning a maiden at Chelmsford by a short head last time; wants at least 7f ideally; big, workmanlike gelding who will rate more highly over further. Got up in the nick of time over 6f at Chelmsford; penalised but sent further now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (28/1 -40%)Hurricane Ann |
28/1(-40%) | (9) Hurricane Ann 28/1, Showed little on debut when well beaten in a maiden at Yarmouth on only start; returns from a short break and open to improvement. 100-1 when eighth of the ten runners over 1m at Yarmouth three months ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (80/1 -142%)Savvi Row |
80/1(-142%) | (6) Savvi Row 80/1, Made minor late headway up in trip when beaten 7 1/2l in a novice here last time; trainer in form; stays 7f and may want further; should do better stepped up in distance. Did show a bit more upped to this trip here 21 days ago but still only seventh of ten. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (125/1 -89%)Anaba Girl |
125/1(-89%) | (8) Anaba Girl 125/1, Got behind early and was probably green when well beaten in a novice here on only start; quite speedily bred and should improve for that debut experience. Always in rear in finished last over 6f here three weeks ago, at 50-1. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (2) (100/1 0%)Harry Don't Bite |
100/1(0%) | (2) Harry Don't Bite 100/1, Green, missed the break badly and was outpaced when well beaten in a maiden here on only start. Drawn wide and speedily bred, but showed little on debut. 200-1 and beaten 24l in a 1m maiden here two weeks ago; no appeal for now. |

FOOTHOLD put in a career best when beaten just a head over a mile here earlier in the month. This drop in trip is likely to suit and he can go one better at the main expense of High Chieftain following his own close second at Wolverhampton. Evenepoel (first) and Allegrino (third) are closely matched based on their meeting at Chelmsford recently and are others to note.

This drop back to 7f looks ideal for FOOTHOLD who was collared late on by the favourite over a mile here earlier this month.

8/11(+47%) | (1) Kosac D'oudairies 8/11, Ran to form but was outclassed by the winner when second, beaten 7l, in the Introductory Hurdle at Haydock last time. Effective at 2m and handles heavy and good to soft ground; progressive in bumpers and over hurdles. Lingfield winner for whom the step up in trip could be a good move; leading claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (7/2 -27%)Red Oak |
7/2(-27%) | (3) Red Oak 7/2, Ran to form, benefiting from a drop in class when winning a maiden hurdle at Musselburgh by 3l last time. Effective between 2m and 2m4f, acts on good ground, and has a strong chance in this. Won at Musselburgh last month on second hurdle start; key player under a 7lb penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (5/1 +17%)Noonetellsmenothin |
5/1(+17%) | (2) Noonetellsmenothin 5/1, Green and made mistakes but rallied for a very promising debut when winning a novice hurdle here by 4l last time. Effective at 2½m and handles good to soft ground; bumper form franked and remains competitive under a penalty. Won over C&D on hurdle debut and open to further improvement; respected under 7lb penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (9/2 -140%)Alsakib |
9/2(-140%) | (4) Alsakib 9/2, Made a very promising debut when second, beaten 3l, in a novice hurdle at Wetherby last time. Effective at 2m and acts on soft ground; a Group winner on the Flat with much more to come over hurdles and should win soon. 1m6f Group 3 Flat winner; second on h'dle debut last month; one to consider now up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (250/1 -150%)Ratemenow |
250/1(-150%) | (8) Ratemenow 250/1, Outclassed by the principals on hurdle debut when fourth, beaten 38l, in a novice hurdle here last time. Effective at 2m but likely to need more time over hurdles. Bumper debut third not devoid of promise but two lesser runs have followed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (66/1 -100%)Supreme Shot |
66/1(-100%) | (9) Supreme Shot 66/1, Made mistakes but showed improvement from debut when well beaten in a novice hurdle at Ludlow last time. Wears a hood for the first time; effective at 2m and acts on soft ground; needs further progress and may stay further in time. Yet to threaten but kept on for seventh last time and could appreciate this longer trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (80/1 -21%)Cold Henry |
80/1(-21%) | (5) Cold Henry 80/1, Outpaced and below form when comfortably held in a novice hurdle at Sedgefield last time. Stays 2m on the Flat and acts on soft ground, effective around 2½m over hurdles; a strong stayer likely suited to handicaps. Two Flat wins here in 2022; no wins since; improvement needed on third hurdle start. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (200/1 -203%)Quinta Brigada |
200/1(-203%) | (7) Quinta Brigada 200/1, Outpaced on a modest debut when comfortably held in a maiden hurdle at Taunton last time. Well fancied for his debut in Ireland and can improve for further over hurdles. Displayed some ability in Irish bumpers but well beaten at 50-1 on hurdle/stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (6) (300/1 -200%)Cool Master |
300/1(-200%) | (6) Cool Master 300/1, Green and made mistakes on a poor debut when well beaten in a maiden hurdle at Bangor-on-Dee on his only start. Returns from a short break with everything to prove. There's some potential in his pedigree but he was tailed off at 100-1 on debut at Bangor. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (12) (300/1 -200%)Perfectot |
300/1(-200%) | (12) Perfectot 300/1, No show from off the pace in a new headgear combination when comfortably held in a novice hurdle at Sedgefield last time. Effective at 2m on good to soft ground in bumpers; the type to improve in handicaps. Third in first two bumpers but has struggled since, over hurdles on last two starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (10) (150/1 -275%)Dotties Promise |
150/1(-275%) | (10) Dotties Promise 150/1, Keen and made mistakes on a poor debut when comfortably held in a maiden hurdle here last time. Effective at 2m, acts on good ground; a bumper winner who needs to leave that debut form behind. Bumper winner for whom it's very early days over hurdles, but tailed off here recently. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (11) (300/1 -200%)Inlet |
300/1(-200%) | (11) Inlet 300/1, Keen and made mistakes, possibly not staying on hurdle debut when comfortably held in a novice hurdle here last time. A consistent stayer on the Flat with plenty to prove over hurdles. Modest maiden on the Flat who was tailed off at 125-1 on her recent hurdle debut over C&D. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (13) (500/1 -150%)Ten Off Fifty |
500/1(-150%) | (13) Ten Off Fifty 500/1, Poor debut when down the field in a maiden hurdle at Wetherby last time. Wears a tongue-tie for the first time and has yet to show any form under rules. Third on sole point start but well beaten in a bumper and maiden hurdle at Wetherby. |

RED OAK built on promising efforts in Irish bumpers by getting off the mark over hurdles at the second time of asking at Musselburgh. He is learning on the job and is the type to kick on, despite the mandatory 7lb penalty. Fellow penalised runners Kosac D'oudairies and Noonetellsmenothin also appeal strongly, although classy Flat recruit Alsakib could be a bigger danger if stepping forward from last month's second at Wetherby.

Having bumped into a subsequent Grade 1 runner-up at Haydock, KOSAC D'OUDAIRIES is taken to regain the winning thread.

1st (7) (10/3 +26%)Monks Mead |
10/3(+26%) | (7) Monks Mead 10/3, Outpaced and looked in need of a slightly stiffer test when beaten 4l in a classified race here last time. Previously in good form; effective from 7f to 8f on a sound surface and worth another try at 10f off a reduced mark. Not discredited when fifth here nine days ago; he can make his presence felt. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (18/1 -29%)Iftikhaar |
18/1(-29%) | (5) Iftikhaar 18/1, Disappointing on flat return, beaten 10l in a handicap here last time. Effective from 8f to 10f on the Flat but unreliable overall. Gained a belated first success at Chelmsford in September but has offered little since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) (7/4 +36%)Wrist Art |
7/4(+36%) | (9) Wrist Art 7/4, Ran to form up in trip when third, beaten 2l, in a Wolverhampton classified race last time in a first-time visor. Suited by 8f; unexposed at 10f and on a fair mark on Irish form if building on that revival. Step forward for new yard with Wolver third nine days ago; very much one to consider. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (40/1 0%)Marion's Boy |
40/1(0%) | (6) Marion's Boy 40/1, Missed the break and never threatened when finishing down the field in a Wolverhampton handicap last time. Tongue-tie applied for the first time. Usually held up; effective at 10f on the all-weather but has regressed markedly since a long absence. A multiple C&D winner but he comes here under a cloud; others are much preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (9/4 -50%)Marinakis |
9/4(-50%) | (1) Marinakis 9/4, Returned to form when dropping in trip and class to win a classified race at Chelmsford by a neck last time. Effective from 10f to 12f and handles the all-weather; fairly treated back in handicap company. Cheekpieces back on when scoring at Chelmsford latest; player with the headgear retained. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (8/1 +11%)Endofastorm |
8/1(+11%) | (3) Endofastorm 8/1, Had every chance but ran below form when well beaten in a Kempton handicap last time. Effective from 12f to 14f and handles any surface; temperament remains a concern though she's on a workable mark. Scored at Bath (13f) in September but she's been below par of late. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (66/1 -136%)Saint Terry |
66/1(-136%) | (8) Saint Terry 66/1, Below form when well beaten up in trip in a Chelmsford handicap last time. Represents a top course trainer but is hard to fancy. Remains low mileage but he's yet to offer much; needs to take a big step forward. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (150/1 -127%)Hannahs Story |
150/1(-127%) | (4) Hannahs Story 150/1, Has shown no worthwhile form so far. Tongue-tie fitted for the first time but all to prove. Has failed to beat a rival on both runs at 7f here this year; not easy to make a case for. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (10) (66/1 -500%)Scammer |
66/1(-500%) | (10) Scammer 66/1, Outpaced and needed the run when finishing down the field in a maiden here most recently. Blinkers go on for the first time but he has yet to show any ability. Last of nine in 1m maiden here in August; blinkers are tried now with lots to find. |

Marinakis arguably sets the standard following his win in a similar event at Chelmsford 10 days ago. That said, a 5lb penalty could leave him vulnerable so preference is for WRIST ART. James Owen's gelding showed much more when third at Wolverhampton last week and that form gives him a big chance. Monks Mead is another likely to be in the mix.

This looks a good opportunity for MARINAKIS to follow up his victory at Chelmsford (headgear again sported) for his bang in-form handler

1st (1) (2/1 +27%)Marty Mcfly |
2/1(+27%) | (1) Marty Mcfly 2/1, Won cosily, improving when suited by a positive ride down in trip at a sharp track, benefitting from reappearance to land a handicap by 12l off a 6lb lower mark at Musselburgh last time; effective around 2m4f and acts on good to soft and good to firm; can follow up with easy lead likely. Mixed fortunes across his five chase starts but has won twice, including on latest start. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (9/1 +55%)Diamand De Vindecy |
9/1(+55%) | (5) Diamand De Vindecy 9/1, Disappointing on hurdles return when fourth beaten 20l in a handicap hurdle at Ludlow latest; off a short break; effective at 2m and acts on soft and good; flat winner but out of form in both codes. Chasing newcomer; six-time Flat winner but 0-9 over hurdles; others are more compelling. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (11/4 +8%)Huit Reflets |
11/4(+8%) | (6) Huit Reflets 11/4, Won readily and improved again when landing a handicap by 5 1/2l off a 6lb lower mark at Sedgefield last time; effective from 2m to 2 1/2m and acts on soft and good; in good form and holds an obvious chance. Did it nicely at Sedgefield last month and he's a solid contender up 6lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (10/3 -67%)Powerofjet |
10/3(-67%) | (2) Powerofjet 10/3, Improved to score with a bit to spare, landing a handicap by 3l off a 7lb lower mark at Newcastle last time; off a short break; effective at 2m and acts on good to soft and good; further progress possible and a good chance off his new mark. Third then first on his two chase starts and the step back up in trip could be a good move. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (11/2 +45%)Count Adhemar |
11/2(+45%) | (4) Count Adhemar 11/2, Ran to form but was comfortably held in a maiden hurdle at Kelso last time; effective at 2m and acts on soft; expected to improve now chasing but current mark demands more. Useful pedigree suggests he'll be suited by the step up in trip on chase/handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (40/1 -100%)Blended Stealth |
40/1(-100%) | (7) Blended Stealth 40/1, Ran to form when fourth beaten 11l in a handicap chase at Sedgefield latest; effective from 2m to 3m but has enthusiasm concerns and remains inconsistent. Runner-up at Sedgefield in November but not at the same level since and he's now 1-46. |

HUIT REFLETS has reverted to chasing relatively late in life, but seems revitalised by the move and he romped home at Sedgefield on Boxing Day. A 6lb rise looks workable and he could be difficult to overhaul over this suitable longer trip. Fellow last-time-out winners Powerofjet and Marty Mcfly are other serious contenders and the latter is rated the biggest danger to the selection, with his stamina more proven.

Unexposed 7yo Powerofjet is a tempting option but preference is for HUIT REFLETS, who did it readily at Sedgefield on Boxing Day.

1st (5) (25/1 -79%)Myna |
25/1(-79%) | (5) Myna 25/1, Had no obvious excuse when well beaten in a handicap here latest; trained by a leading course trainer; returning from a break; suited by 10f and acts on any surface but out of form. Is 0-16 and seventh over C&D in September; needs to take a big step forward after a break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (3/1 -60%)Haveagobeau |
3/1(-60%) | (1) Haveagobeau 3/1, Quickened clear readily when winning a handicap here by 3l last time; effective from 8f to 10f and probably acts on any surface; unexposed at 10f and appears to have run into form. Won at 31st try over C&D week ago; not taken lightly in classified company here. |

Winless since 2023 and beat only one after six months off at Chelmsford ten days ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (13/2 +7%)Kaaress |
13/2(+7%) | (3) Kaaress 13/2, Never threatened but was ridden to see out the trip when beaten 9 1/2l in a handicap here last time; effective from 8f to 10f and acts on any surface but has lost enthusiasm. Positive start for new yard, carried wide when seventh here latest; weighted to go well. |

Still a maiden but good third at Chelmsford ten days ago; one for the shortlist. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (14/1 +30%)Laurentia |
14/1(+30%) | (4) Laurentia 14/1, Continued in poor form when beaten 5l in a handicap here last time; visor tried for the first time; effective from 7f to 10f and acts on any surface; on a long losing run. C&D winner; this veteran can't be dismissed with a visor now added. |

8th (2) (7/1 +30%)Dubai Immo |
7/1(+30%) | (2) Dubai Immo 7/1, Had too much to do but hinted at revival when beaten 5l in a handicap here last time; effective from 10f to 14f on the all-weather but currently out of form. Hinted at revival under patient ride when C&D fifth latest; must enter calculations. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (7) (50/1 -213%)Sunset In Paris |
50/1(-213%) | (7) Sunset In Paris 50/1, No obvious excuse when finishing down the field in a classified race at Chelmsford most recently; effective at 10f and better on the all-weather but inconsistent. A three-time C&D winner but he's not proving easy to catch right; cheekpieces retried now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (9) (40/1 -100%)Estimaid |
40/1(-100%) | (9) Estimaid 40/1, Made too much use of and may not have stayed when down the field in a handicap here most recently; effective at 9f on the all-weather; inconsistent but can do better if ridden slightly more conservatively. Last of ten in turf handicap here when last seen out in August; others are preferred. |

HAVEAGOBEAU is the obvious one after successfully bouncing back to form in a handicap over C&D last week. This is an easier assignment and Jim Boyle's gelding is hard to oppose. Thundering Breeze is 0-15 so far, but she has gone well here before. Dropping into a classified stakes could be a good move where she is concerned, although Sunset In Paris is a three-time track-and-trip winner and could be a bigger danger if staging a revival.

A few hold chances here but KAARESS has started life well for Michael Attwater and is favoured at these weights too so gets the verdict

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (13) (12/1 -33%)Thank You Blue |
12/1(-33%) | (13) Thank You Blue 12/1, Did not find much and found the ground too testing when fourth, beaten 31l, in a handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter last time; returns from a short break; effective from 2m to 2½m, acts on good; better ground should help but needs to bounce back. Won twice off higher marks last spring; heavy ground a plausible excuse last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (6) (33/1 +18%)Les's Legacy |
33/1(+18%) | (6) Les's Legacy 33/1, Below form and made too much use of when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Hexham last time; returns from a short break; effective at 2m4f, acts on soft and good; down in the weights but needs more. 10/1(-43%) | (14) Bollin Neil 10/1, Ran to form maintaining his excellent course record when beaten 3l off a 1lb lower mark here last time; trained by a top course trainer; effective from 2m to 3m, acts on soft and good; a consistent Catterick specialist in both codes. 8-time winner here (Flat and jumps); respectable over further of late; can't rule out. |

|PU| (12) (16/1 -33%)Hey Buddy |
16/1(-33%) | (12) Hey Buddy 16/1, Outpaced but ran to form when comfortably held in a novice hurdle at Hereford last time; returns from a short break; effective at 2m, acts on good; bumper form franked, progressing over hurdles though his mark asks for more. Promise in 2nd qualifying run; had wind surgery & could improve now h'capping over further. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (16) (25/1 +50%)Sam's Falcon |
25/1(+50%) | (16) Sam's Falcon 25/1, Disappointing when stepped up in trip on handicap debut, well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Wetherby last time; acts on soft; mark demands more. Poor in 2 h'caps (chase/hurdle); still early days in this sphere but he needs to show more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (150/1 -127%)Sun Lady Marine |
150/1(-127%) | (4) Sun Lady Marine 150/1, Pulled up in a handicap hurdle at Haydock latest; effective from 2m to 2½m and suited by plenty of cut; showed promise in France but has a bit to prove for her new yard. 66-1 and no immediate promise when pulled up on stable debut over hurdles last month. |

INFERNO SACREE was denied by the narrowest of margins at Taunton last month and the eight-year-old merits plenty of respect off just a 1lb higher mark. Kelijoe was successful on his most recent outing at Doncaster and is an obvious danger, although a 7lb rise in this much tougher contest demands improvement. Others to note are Bollin Neil and Jack Hoola.

There's a good few to consider but JACK HOOLA (nap) is progressing and can land win number three of his campaign.

3rd (1) (11/4 -38%)Son Of Astar |
11/4(-38%) | (1) Son Of Astar 11/4, Ran to form when beaten 3l off a 1lb higher mark at Wolverhampton last time. Top course jockey and trainer combination. Effective at 5f; in good form generally. Didn't enjoy the rub of the green when fifth at Wolverhampton; one to be interested in. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (10/3 -11%)Bluebells Boy |
10/3(-11%) | (3) Bluebells Boy 10/3, Ran to form when beaten 2l off this mark here last time. Effective at 5f and 6f; in decent form and the handicapper is relenting. On a losing run but he comes here in good order; this course scorer can go well again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (10/3 +49%)Captain Kinsella |
10/3(+49%) | (5) Captain Kinsella 10/3, Far too free and lit up by first-time visor when beaten 3l off a 4lb higher mark at Wolverhampton last time. Suited by 5f; has lost form and a wind operation has not helped. Not discredited given he went very keenly when sixth at Wolver 22 days ago; shortlisted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (8/1 -45%)Wedgewood |
8/1(-45%) | (4) Wedgewood 8/1, Ran to form when beaten 2l off a 1lb higher mark at Wolverhampton last time. Top course trainer; effective at 5f and running back into form, below last winning mark. C&D scorer; solid fourth at Wolver 30 days ago; can make her presence felt eased 1lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (13/2 -18%)The Defiant |
13/2(-18%) | (8) The Defiant 13/2, Returned to form back in a handicap when beaten 2 1/4l off this mark here last time. Suited by 5f; frontrunner on a fair mark if building on recent revival. Back on track with C&D second latest; this three-time C&D scorer must enter calculations. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (10/1 +29%)It's Showtime |
10/1(+29%) | (7) It's Showtime 10/1, No-show after a slow start when beaten 9l in a handicap at Southwell last time. Usually held up; suited by 5f and acts on AW; a bounce back is needed. Very slowly away when last of 12 at Southwell 17 days ago; hard to warm to. |

Several of these are old rivals and the betting could be a good source of clues. Captain Kinsella runs off 10lb below his last winning mark and is dangerous to rule out, while It's Showtime and Bluebells Boy have reasonable chances. However, SON OF ASTAR is the pick of Tony Carroll's pair and the mount of Rossa Ryan won't need to find much to stamp his authority under top weight.

A few with chances but SON OF ASTAR(nap) caught the eye when fifth at Wolverhampton and gets a confident vote to resume winning ways.

1st (5) (5/1 +38%)Defence Witness |
5/1(+38%) | (5) Defence Witness 5/1, Outpaced but ran to form, looking in need of a slightly stiffer test when beaten 2 1/2l off this mark here last time. Effective from 2m5f to 3m on a sound surface; inconsistent but capable from this mark. Second of four here last time and the step back up in trip may well be a plus. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (9/1 +10%)I See The Sea |
9/1(+10%) | (1) I See The Sea 9/1, Scored by 2l off a 1lb lower mark here on his penultimate start. No obvious excuse when seventh, beaten 32l off 99 last time, now 1lb lower. Effective around 3m on a sound surface; form inconsistent but mark looks workable. Won over C&D in November but unpredictable and well beaten over C&D last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (16/5 -7%)Wolfburg |
16/5(-7%) | (2) Wolfburg 16/5, Won easily when improving in first-time cheekpieces and tongue-tie, landing a handicap by 9 1/2l off a 6lb lower mark at Wetherby last time. Effective around 2m4f-3m1f on soft and good; inconsistent but attractively weighted and has a good Catterick record. 12yo whose form can be up and down but he's won on his last two visits to Catterick. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (12) (40/1 +20%)Derracrin |
40/1(+20%) | (12) Derracrin 40/1, Unseated in a handicap chase here last time. Effective at 2m4f, suited by good ground; needs to bounce back. Sole win (from 24 attempts) came in May 2023; not shaping as though a win is imminent. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (11) (12/1 +52%)Whispering Dancer |
12/1(+52%) | (11) Whispering Dancer 12/1, Raced lazily but improved from debut, looking a strong stayer when comfortably held in a handicap chase at Ayr last time. Effective at 3m; needs significant improvement but may be suited by marathon distances. Hint of promise at Ayr this month from a long way out of the handicap; not discounted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (10) (9/1 +36%)Bravethewaves |
9/1(+36%) | (10) Bravethewaves 9/1, Won by 3/4l off a 3lb lower mark at Southwell on penultimate start. Every chance but a bit below form when fourth, beaten 14l off 82 last time, now off the same mark. Best around 2m4f, acts on good to soft and good; form variable. Stamina to prove but this step up in trip is worth a go judged on his latest effort here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (14/1 -100%)Getaway Glory |
14/1(-100%) | (3) Getaway Glory 14/1, Ran to form up in trip when just beaten by a strong stayer, beaten 2 1/2l off a 4lb higher mark at Sedgefield last time. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (7) (18/5 +28%)Mersey Street |
18/5(+28%) | (7) Mersey Street 18/5, Improved up in trip after a break, suited by positive handling at this sharp track when beaten a short-head off a 4lb lower mark here last time. Effective from 2m4f to 2m7f on a sound surface; fairly treated on hurdle form and should benefit from latest run. Poor strike-rate but lightly raced over fences and beaten a short head over C&D last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (13) (22/1 +33%)Sputnik |
22/1(+33%) | (13) Sputnik 22/1, Produced a modest effort when comfortably held in a handicap chase here last time. Effective from 2 1/2m to 3m and suited by a sound surface; unreliable veteran. 33-1 second over C&D in November but two lesser performances have followed from this 11yo. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (80/1 +20%)Kuriosa |
80/1(+20%) | (9) Kuriosa 80/1, Pulled up in a handicap chase here last time. Effective at around 2 1/2m but yet to show any worthwhile ability in points or under rules. Tailed off/pulled up last month in his first two chases. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (14) (100/1 +0%)Stonegate |
100/1(+0%) | (14) Stonegate 100/1, Pulled up in a handicap chase at Wetherby last time; regressive and impossible to fancy. Pulled up/tailed off on all six chase starts and he would be a shock winner. |

WOLFBURG bolted up on just his second start over fences at Wetherby on Boxing Day. A 6lb rise for that success appears to be more than fair and Sandy Thomson's gelding gets the nod in an open event. Valence D'Aumont pipped Mersey Street over C&D last month and both are likely to go well once again. The shortlist is completed by Defence Witness and Bravethewaves.

The lightly raced 6yo ALLTALKNOACTION has been knocking at the door and is taken to get off the mark. Wolfburg is feared most.

Cheekpieces on for the first time; top course jockey booked and drawn wide. Effective at 7/8f and acts on the all-weather. Improved second at Chelmsford in November; very much one to consider with cheekpieces on. |

2nd (1) (8/11 +0%)Hardstyle |
8/11(+0%) | (1) Hardstyle 8/11, Nicely weighted and improved again when landing a handicap by 3l off a 6lb lower mark at Wolverhampton last time. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (11/2 +66%)Black Tango |
11/2(+66%) | (5) Black Tango 11/2, Bit free but showed improvement when beaten 8l in a maiden here last time. Cheekpieces on for the first time and returns from a short break. With speed in his pedigree, he may do better over shorter than 7f so this trip is a concern. Seventh here in November final run for Alice Haynes; no forlorn hope on yard/h'cap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (14/1 -180%)Thanh Nam |
14/1(-180%) | (4) Thanh Nam 14/1, Scored by 1 1/4l off a 4lb lower mark at Wolverhampton on his penultimate start. A bit below form in a first-time visor when seventh beaten 4 1/2l off 59 last time; runs off the same mark here. Effective at 7-10f and acts on the all-weather; a little quirky but consistent. On a hat-trick but he beat one at Chelmsford in headgear change; can bounce back. |

40/1(+0%) | (8) Parole Board 40/1, Outpaced but ran to form when beaten 8l in a novice at Kempton last time. Returns from a short break and yet to show much; handicaps may suit better but needs more. Has offered little in her three runs; needs switch to h'caps to spark major improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (66/1 -230%)Angelic Rascal |
66/1(-230%) | (3) Angelic Rascal 66/1, Down in trip and tried in a tongue-tie, ran as if breathing was an issue when comfortably held in a nursery at Newcastle last time. Trainer in form; effective at 8f and acts on the all-weather. Return to further may help though her mark looks stiff. Last of five in 7f Newcastle handicap 23 days ago; she needs to take a big step forward. |

Hardstyle got off the mark with the minimum of fuss over C&D, but isn't being allowed to rest on his laurels and followed up at Wolverhampton on Monday night. He is a force to be reckoned with if turned out again, but UNCLE NADER is given the opportunity to avenge his Chelmsford defeat at the hands of Thanh Nam. Jack Jones' gelding is 6lb better off for just three-quarters of a length and cheekpieces could help prompt the necessary improvement. Keep Chilliconcarneigh in mind too.

George Boughey's HARDSTYLE has taken a big step forward the last twice and again won well at Wolverhampton on Monday.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (11/2 +45%)Queen Roslyn |
11/2(+45%) | (7) Queen Roslyn 11/2, Below form when comfortably held in a novice hurdle here last time; usually held up; improvement required now switching to handicaps. Goes handicapping off a lowly mark and was progressive on the Flat last year; check market. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (13) (18/1 +10%)Jackson's Bay |
18/1(+10%) | (13) Jackson's Bay 18/1, Never threatened and ridden to see out the trip when down the field in a handicap hurdle at Taunton most recently; returns from a short break; effective at 2m and handles good to soft ground; inconsistent in a short career. Lightly raced 5yo who might have an each-way chance now back down in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (11) (14/1 +13%)Genbu |
14/1(+13%) | (11) Genbu 14/1, Tired late on when the ground was probably softer than ideal and finished comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Wetherby last time; effective at 2m on soft and good ground; needs a bit more to defy this mark. 4yo who is 1-10 over hurdles, the win a fortunate one; soundly beaten in sole handicap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (8) (20/1 +39%)Wednesday Addams |
20/1(+39%) | (8) Wednesday Addams 20/1, Every chance but below form when well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Warwick last time; effective over 2 1/2m and handles ground with cut; currently out of form. Runner-up in bumper/maiden hurdle in 2024 but has struggled in handicaps. |

|PU| (1) (6/1 -20%)Newport |
6/1(-20%) | (1) Newport 6/1, Won by 2 1/4l off an 8lb lower mark at Musselburgh two starts ago; ran to form when third, beaten 9 1/4l off 95 last time and now 1lb higher; effective from 2m to 2m4f, handles soft and good ground; thriving since moving from Ireland. Poor strike-rate but sole win came last month on second start for this stable; thereabouts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (9/1 +25%)Romancier |
9/1(+25%) | (6) Romancier 9/1, Bit free but ran to form on handicap debut when beaten 7 1/4l in a handicap hurdle at Musselburgh last time; effective at 2m and handles soft ground; needs to find more to feature in handicaps. Ran okay when fifth on handicap debut; this lightly raced 5yo could take a step forward. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) (25/1 -127%)Platenium |
25/1(-127%) | (10) Platenium 25/1, No obvious excuse when well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Doncaster last time; blinkers applied for the first time; effective from 2m to 2m4f and best on a sound surface; needs to bounce back. Of interest on his good form in October but well beaten on his last two starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (12) (80/1 -60%)Susiesparkle |
80/1(-60%) | (12) Susiesparkle 80/1, Never competitive due to a series of errors when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle here last time; usually held up; a 10f flat winner but yet to build on hurdling debut. Two-time Flat winner but has struggled under both codes from last July onwards. |

Given that most of these have questions to answer, it is hard to oppose RUKAANA. The five-year-old won easily at Windsor on New Year's Day and even a 9lb rise may not be enough to stop him from following up in this company. Newport's two efforts last month suggest that he is likely to be the main threat, ahead of the unexposed Romancier.

Things finally clicked for RUKAANA over hurdles at Windsor on New Year's Day and he can follow up that convincing win.

9/5(+28%) | (4) Far Too Fizzy 9/5, Scored by 3/4l off a 6lb lower mark at Chelmsford in October; ran to form when third, beaten a length off 57 last time and runs off the same mark here; top course jockey; suited by 6f, acts on AW; consistent given right fractions. Good third at Wolver nine days ago, collared only late on; ought to be thereabouts again. |

11/2(-57%) | (1) Mister Moet 11/2, Made plenty of use when dropped in trip, head a touch high but a good effort when beaten 2l off this mark at Wolverhampton last time; suited by 6f, acts on AW; not the most convincing in a finish but form is fairly consistent. Back on track for new yard when second at Wolver 30 days ago; must enter calculations. |

3rd (7) (50/1 -213%)Warrior Queen |
50/1(-213%) | (7) Warrior Queen 50/1, Outpaced when down in trip and well beaten in a nursery at Chelmsford last time; cheekpieces on for the first time; wants 6f+, bred to handle AW; likely to do better back up in distance. Last of seven on nursery debut at Chelmsford last month; cheekpieces are reached for now. |

4th (6) (25/1 -213%)Real Gold |
25/1(-213%) | (6) Real Gold 25/1, Had every chance and run probably reflects her ability when beaten 3l off a 1lb higher mark at Kempton last time; effective at 6f, acts on AW; official mark seems about right. Back to form with Kempton fourth two weeks ago; no forlorn hope eased 1lb here. |

14/1(+13%) | (5) Buckland Belle 14/1, Outpaced and poor effort tried in a hood when down the field in a novice here last time; probably stays 7f, acts on AW; has a bit to prove after that latest disappointment. Has failed to go on in her three runs; drops markedly in trip for her handicap debut. |

6th (3) (11/4 +31%)Inclusive |
11/4(+31%) | (3) Inclusive 11/4, Made late headway when wanting further, beaten 2 1/4l off this mark at Southwell last time; trainer in form; wants 7f, acts on AW; could improve upped in trip. Very good third at Southwell 20 days ago; needs considering on her first go on Polytrack. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (3/1 +14%)Henriette Ronner |
3/1(+14%) | (2) Henriette Ronner 3/1, A bit keen off a slow pace but ran about to form when 5 1/2l third in a nursery at Newcastle last time; significant jockey booking; all form at 7f, bred to want 8f+, acts on AW; official mark looks fair. Shaped encouragingly when third at Newcastle given she went freely; player back in trip. |

INCLUSIVE went some way to putting a disappointing handicap debut behind her when making the frame at Southwell. That career-best effort suggested this trip is what she wants for now and she is taken to get off the mark. There should also be races in Henriette Ronner judged on her Newcastle third, and Far Too Fizzy and Mister Moet are in the mix too. Ollie Sangster forked out 150,000gns for Buckland Belle and after showing little in three qualifying runs, she starts handicap life off an attractive mark.

William Haggas' HENRIETTE RONNER shaped as though this trip would suit when third at Newcastle and can progress to get off the mark now

9/1(-38%) | (3) Campfield Flyer 9/1, Made a moderate debut when well beaten in a juvenile bumper at Aintree on his only start; returns from a short break and could improve now hurdling. Sets the standard on debut 6th but it's not an overly daunting one; may still improve. |

11/1(+31%) | (1) Bound For Glory 11/1, Circus Maximus gelding; half-brother to Kings Gesture, who was poor over 17f; dam was very useful at 9f as a 2yo; probably best watched on debut. By Circus Maximus; yard 2-29 in bumpers over the last five seasons; market may help. |

5th (9) (150/1 -127%)The Lakes |
150/1(-127%) | (9) The Lakes 150/1, Improved from her debut without threatening when comfortably held in a mares' bumper at Doncaster last time; returns from a short break with all to prove. Flat-bred filly who stepped up a little last time but was still beaten a long way again. |

50/1(-317%) | (6) Teddie 50/1, Telescope gelding; half-brother to Thank You Ma'am, who was very useful over 24f; wears a hood for the first time and looks an unlikely winner on debut. By Telescope; yard has occasional winners in this sphere; hooded and tongue tied for debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (25/1 -108%)Mischief Millie |
25/1(-108%) | (8) Mischief Millie 25/1, Frammassone filly; half-sister to High Class Hero, a smart performer over 21f; likely to go well. By classy Italian jumper Frammassone; yard is 5-52 in bumpers; betting could be helpful. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) (7/2 +13%)Broadway Dreamer |
7/2(+13%) | (2) Broadway Dreamer 7/2, Nathaniel gelding; has attractive flat pedigree; yard can get them ready first time; one to consider. By Nathaniel; related to connections' high-class Paint The Dream; considered on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (4) (66/1 -230%)Cribbins |
66/1(-230%) | (4) Cribbins 66/1, Showed greenness on a modest debut when well beaten in a juvenile bumper at Hereford on his only start; effective at 2m and acts on soft ground; needs to improve from that initial experience. Green but plodded on to be beaten 22l on his debut one month ago; may do better. |

Those with racecourse experience do not inspire any confidence, so preference is for LUNA LUX. The daughter of Masked Marvel cost 50,000 euros and represents a yard that does well in bumpers. Similar comments apply to Broadway Dreamer and Nightflyer, who is related to winners on the Flat. Any market support for Bound For Glory or Teddie would have to be noted.

Newcomers LUNA LUX, Nightflyer (second choice) and Broadway Dreamer all have something to recommend them on paper.

11/1(-38%) | (4) Tiger Crusade 11/1, Ran to form but looked in need of a stiffer test when beaten 2 1/4l off a 1lb higher mark here last time. Best at 7f and effective at 6f on the all-weather; can go well again back up in trip. C&D winner who was set a lot to do when a respectable eighth here latest; possibilities. |

2nd (9) (11/1 +56%)Brunel Nation |
11/1(+56%) | (9) Brunel Nation 11/1, Again below his 2024 best when beaten 8 1/4l in a handicap at Chelmsford last time. Effective over 7f on the all-weather but remains out of form. A fair 7f scorer at his best but he arrives well out of sorts; not easy to make a case for. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (11/4 +0%)Diamondonthehill |
11/4(+0%) | (5) Diamondonthehill 11/4, Ran to form when beaten 3/4l off this mark at Chelmsford last time. Effective from 6-8f on the all-weather; fairly treated and back in form. C&D scorer who arrives in very good nick; he can go well again off an unchanged mark. |

4th (3) (9/2 +36%)Best Rate |
9/2(+36%) | (3) Best Rate 9/2, Ran to form tried in blinkers when beaten 3/4l off this mark at Kempton last time. Off a short break and effective over 7/8f on the all-weather; has a fair chance off the same mark. Good fourth at Kempton in November; has gone well fresh so much respected after a break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (5/2 +64%)Noble Victory |
5/2(+64%) | (6) Noble Victory 5/2, Ran to form, met trouble and the rider dropped the whip, worth marking up when 4 1/4l third in a Chelmsford handicap most recently. Has a top course jockey and returns from a break; wide draw; effective over 6/7f on the all-weather; consistent performer. Low-mileage 4yo who is holding his form well in handicaps; needs considering after a break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (17/2 -89%)Metaverse |
17/2(-89%) | (2) Metaverse 17/2, Ran to form with a good attitude when beaten a neck off a 2lb lower mark at Kempton last time. Has a wide draw and returns from a short break; suited by 7f and the all-weather; could build on recent revival. Right back on song of late, runner-up at Kempton latest; must enter calculations again. |

7th (1) (8/1 -129%)Bell Shot |
8/1(-129%) | (1) Bell Shot 8/1, Ran to form, strong at the finish when dropped in trip to land a handicap by a head off a 2lb lower mark at Southwell last time. The trainer is in form, he enjoys making the running, and is effective over 6/7f on a sound surface; the step back up in trip should suit. Won at Southwell latest; overcame troubled run so this C&D scorer is a player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (50/1 0%)Elouise's Prince |
50/1(0%) | (8) Elouise's Prince 50/1, Continued in poor form when beaten 8 1/4l in a handicap here last time. Effective at 5f on the all-weather but still looks high in the weights and has stamina to prove. Beat one on yard debut here two weeks ago; has plenty to prove at present. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (7) (14/1 -75%)Spirit Lead Me |
14/1(-75%) | (7) Spirit Lead Me 14/1, Ran to form when beaten 1 1/4l off this mark at Wolverhampton last time. Off a short break; effective from 7-8f on the all-weather and yet to show form on turf; progressive but the handicapper may have caught up. Scored at Kempton/Southwell before a good Wolver fourth latest; ought to be thereabouts. |

Bell Shot dug deep to spring a 33/1 shock at Southwell and he now returns to his optimum trip. Metaverse has been threatening to get his head back in front, while Spirit Lead Me's winning run may have come to an end but he must not be written off. Noble Victory has been freshened up by a break but the vote goes to DIAMONDONTHEHILL, who only just failed to justify favouritism at Chelmsford and is able to compete here from the same rating.

The likeable BELL SHOT looked better than ever when going in at Southwell on New Year's Day and can bag a second C&D success up in trip

7/1(-250%) | (3) Only In Manila 7/1, Made too much use of in cheekpieces when fourth beaten 5l in a novice at Lingfield latest; effective at 8f, acts on GF and AW; this step up in trip not certain to suit. Strong form claims but his last run was a backward step when tried in cheekpieces. |

2nd (2) (3/1 -20%)New Bay Star |
3/1(-20%) | (2) New Bay Star 3/1, Sweating and too keen in front 5 1/4l third in a novice at Newcastle most recent run; effective 8f, stays 10f, acts on GS and AW; good chance in this. Beaten five times, the last twice following wind surgery; should still have a say. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (10/11 +52%)Roker Roar |
10/11(+52%) | (4) Roker Roar 10/11, Met some interference but still improved on debut when fourth beaten 2 1/4l in a novice at Newcastle; from a strong course jockey and trainer team; bred for 8f+ and likely to progress further. Showed plenty more when a close fourth at Newcastle and he's bred for this longer trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (9/2 +44%)Cheshire Cat |
9/2(+44%) | (1) Cheshire Cat 9/2, Modest debut, lacked pace well beaten in a maiden here only start; gelded since; bred for middle-distances and improvement likely. Finished a well-beaten seventh over 1m here in October when easy to back at 14-1. |

Only In Manila and New Bay Star have identical ratings so there should be little between them, although the latter is more likely to appreciate this test of stamina. Only In Manila's stable companion Cheshire Cat could leave his ordinary debut over a mile here behind him, but ROKER ROAR is preferred. Andrew Balding's colt took a pleasing step forward to finish fourth at Newcastle, despite meeting trouble close home, and he is bred to excel over middle distances.

Unlike New Bay Star and Only In Manila, ROKER ROAR did take a step forward on his final run and he's bred for this longer trip.

8th (13) (100/1 -150%)Stole My Heart |
100/1(-150%) | (13) Stole My Heart 100/1, Better effort up in trip when beaten 8l in a novice here last time; quite speedily bred but has shaped as though staying 7f; progressing but only looks useful at best. Modest sixth in two runs this winter, including C&D; improvement required. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (6) (80/1 -400%)Mohmentous |
80/1(-400%) | (6) Mohmentous 80/1, Fair effort when third beaten 12l behind two useful sorts in a novice here on debut; wide draw; bred to be a miler; should make normal improvement. Beaten 12l when third of five in a 6f novice here last month; marked improvement necessary. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (11) (80/1 -220%)Celestique |
80/1(-220%) | (11) Celestique 80/1, Left 6l start and showed little thereafter when well beaten in a Lingfield novice on debut; quite speedily bred but needs to show much more. Blew the start and always behind on last month's Lingfield debut (1m); best watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (2) (200/1 -300%)Everest |
200/1(-300%) | (2) Everest 200/1, No-show from off the pace when comfortably held in a novice at Lingfield last time; wide draw and drop in trip look negatives; likely to do better in handicaps over 1m4f+. Modest maiden hurdler; well held in two Flat runs (1m2f); no appeal dropped to 7f. |

THE STONE POWER might not have improved quite as hoped between his first and second starts, but he did split two subsequent winners in third. The well-bred son of Kingman is fancied to appreciate the return to 7f and can make it third-time lucky. Breathe Easy was right behind the selection at Southwell so has to be feared, while Leonetto has found just one too good on each of his last two appearances and shouldn't remain a maiden for too much longer. Zambezi River, a 170,000gns yearling, is the most interesting newcomer.

Leonetto is a key player upped in trip but THE STONE POWER could be the answer.

17/2(+47%) | (1) Mr Cool 17/2, Stopped quickly and ran below form when beaten 10l in a handicap at Southwell last time; cheekpieces first time; effective at 5/6f; bounce back needed. 2nd over C&D in October off 5lb higher; quiet since but down in class with headgear added. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) (10/1 -43%)Cayman Tai |
10/1(-43%) | (9) Cayman Tai 10/1, Bit below form when beaten 4 1/4l in a handicap at Lingfield last time; hood first time; suited by 6f, probably has pace for 5f, acts on AW; capable but form erratic. Well treated on last year's best and addition of a hood looks a good move; not ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (10) (8/1 +43%)Iconic Times |
8/1(+43%) | (10) Iconic Times 8/1, Well below form when back on turf and beaten 7 1/2l in a handicap at Chester last time; top course jockey; returning from a break; best at 6f on AW; needs more. 2-2 over C&D; returns from a break with Oisin Murphy booked; betting useful. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (5) (5/1 -82%)Waistcoat |
5/1(-82%) | (5) Waistcoat 5/1, Improved, strong at finish dropped in trip landing a handicap by 1 1/2l off a 5lb lower mark at Chelmsford last time; effective 6-8f, acts on any; more to come as a sprinter. On an upward path for current yard; ready Chelmsford win latest; solid despite 5lb penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (6) (40/1 -60%)Northcliff |
40/1(-60%) | (6) Northcliff 40/1, No-show from off the pace when beaten 10l in a handicap at Wolverhampton last time; trainer in form; enjoys making it; wide draw; suited by 6f and acts on AW; bounce back needed. Ended 2025 quietly; on dangerous mark but too much to prove for comfort. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (4) (80/1 -220%)Mckenna |
80/1(-220%) | (4) Mckenna 80/1, Too keen and made no impact from off the pace when down the field in a handicap at Chelmsford most recent; off a short break; effective at 7/8f; this drop in trip may suit. Well beaten in two runs for new yard and only dropped 1lb; had wind op since latest. |

WAISTCOAT can usually be relied upon to run his race and arrives on the back of a clear-cut Chelmsford success, with Em Four only fifth. His penalty means he must run off a figure in the 70s for the first time in his career, but he may be open to even more improvement. State Of Madness invariably attracts market attention and has made great strides since joining Charlie Clover so should do so again. City Cyclone was just behind a subsequent winner when a close-up third over C&D and rounds out the shortlist.

The drop in class and addition of headgear could see MR COOL return to form and he's well treated if that is the case.

1st (6) (9/2 +10%)Knight Templar |
9/2(+10%) | (6) Knight Templar 9/2, Never threatened comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Chepstow last time; effective at 16f on AW; respected back on the Flat. Well handicapped back on the Flat and hasn't been running badly over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (11/2 +8%)Educator |
11/2(+8%) | (5) Educator 11/2, Bit below his best when beaten 7l in a handicap at Lingfield last time. Suited by 12f and a sound surface, with his mark easing. Won twice in 2025 after wind surgery but has seemingly regressed in the meantime. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (9/2 -13%)Appier |
9/2(-13%) | (1) Appier 9/2, Enjoyed the run of the race when back to form, landing a handicap by 1/2l off a 2lb lower mark at Wolverhampton last time. Suited by 12–16f and acts well on the all-weather, though possibly flattered by that effort but clearly in form. Ideally positioned when winning last time but still a likely contender off 2lb higher. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (4/1 +0%)Bashful Boy |
4/1(+0%) | (3) Bashful Boy 4/1, Better than the result after messing up the start when beaten 2 1/4l off a 1lb higher mark at Wolverhampton last time. Stays up to 16f and acts on the all-weather. Can go well. He's not won for a long time and finishing effort can be questionable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (28/1 +15%)Lusaka |
28/1(+15%) | (7) Lusaka 28/1, Lacked pace when beaten 6 1/4l in a handicap here last time. Suited by 13–16f and acts on the all-weather. Not the most straightforward. Reverting to positive tactics may help but has yet to look at home on the AW. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (12/1 +14%)Dr Waksman |
12/1(+14%) | (8) Dr Waksman 12/1, Bit below form when fourth, beaten 27l in a maiden hurdle at Plumpton latest. Effective at 11f on the all-weather but needs more back on the Flat. Well beaten in two 1m4f handicaps before another disappointing run back over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (10/3 +0%)Zoran |
10/3(+0%) | (2) Zoran 10/3, Below form well beaten in a handicap at Southwell latest; top course jockey; enjoys making it; effective up to 16f, acts on AW; below last win mark. Last run too bad to be true and he always commands respect at this track. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (9/1 0%)I'd Go Maniac |
9/1(0%) | (4) I'd Go Maniac 9/1, Below form when fourth, beaten 12l off 73 last time and runs off the same mark here. Effective from 10–12f and acts on the all-weather. Remains fairly treated but needs to find more. Won a steadily run 1m4f handicap but truer fractions exposed him next time. |

Appier had Bashful Boy two and a quarter lengths behind in third when he won over an extended 2m at Wolverhampton. However, the latter is 3lb better off and could turn things around. Even so, the well-handicapped EDUCATOR might be the answer. Open to improvement over this trip, the Henrietta Knight-trained seven-year-old is dangerous to underestimate, with the booking of Billy Loughnane a highly positive appointment.

He had a shocker last time at Southwell but ZORAN usually runs well here, as was the case on his penultimate start.

1st (3) (7/2 -17%)High On Hope |
7/2(-17%) | (3) High On Hope 7/2, Improved, good attitude landing a handicap by a head off a 1lb lower mark at Chelmsford last time; trainer in form; wide draw; effective 7/8f, acts on GS, GF and AW; workable mark still. This looks a deeper race than the one he won at Chelmsford two weeks ago; reliable though. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (8/1 +33%)Joolianoss |
8/1(+33%) | (5) Joolianoss 8/1, Ran to form, maybe still needed run beaten 5 1/4l in a handicap at Lingfield last time; effective 8-10f, acts well on AW; should be at peak fitness now. Three wins last January before a ten-month absence; latest run threatened better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (15/8 +46%)Gilet |
15/8(+46%) | (1) Gilet 15/8, Ran to form but maybe didn't stay when fourth beaten 4 1/2l in a handicap at Lingfield last time; effective at 7/8f and may just get 10f; can go well down in trip. Yet to win a handicap but he has threatened, including C&D; should make a bold bid. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (6/1 -50%)Towerlands |
6/1(-50%) | (2) Towerlands 6/1, Improved again when second beaten 2l off 79 last time, 1lb higher here; effective 7/8f, acts on sound surface; likely to go well again. Ended 2025 in fine form but this contest demands another personal best from him. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (16/1 -78%)Mostawaa |
16/1(-78%) | (8) Mostawaa 16/1, Ran to his recent level when beaten 3l off a 2lb higher mark here last time; suited by 8f, acts on any surface; needs more but mark is easing. Drew a blank in 2025; latest C&D run was okay but more is needed to end his barren spell. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (80/1 -220%)Renesmee |
80/1(-220%) | (6) Renesmee 80/1, Below form when sixth beaten 8l off 74 last time, running from the same mark here; effective at 8-10f and handles all-weather; needs to bounce back. Wide-margin 1m2f win (Class 6) in November; well held off this mark twice since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (9/2 +59%)King Of Fury |
9/2(+59%) | (4) King Of Fury 9/2, Ran to form when beaten 4l in a handicap here last time; had been in good form before that; suited by 8f and acts on any going; a little inconsistent. C&D winner but not at his best when behind Gilet here last time; others appeal more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (10/1 -43%)Billy Mill |
10/1(-43%) | (7) Billy Mill 10/1, Travelled wide but proved much the best when landing a handicap by a length off a 5lb lower mark here last time; effective at 7/8f and acts on any surface; should go well off his new mark. Got up late to win a 7f handicap here two weeks ago; stays 1m and respected up 5lb. |

Towerlands was skilfully placed to register a hat-trick, although cracks appeared when he failed to justify favouritism over 7f at Newcastle most recently. Stepping back up to a mile can help but preference is still for HIGH ON HOPE, whose recent Chelmsford success advertised his battling qualities and he is only 1lb higher. Gilet and Billy Mill are other appealing options.

There wasn't much between Joolianoss and GILET at Lingfield last time and both can benefit from the return to 1m.

2/1(+40%) | (1) Shihoku 2/1, Held when impeded late and beaten 6l in a handicap at Wolverhampton last time; effective from 9f to 12f and handles the all-weather; can go well. Chance on his Wolverhampton second last month but failed to back it up one week later. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (10/3 -33%)Fight Your Corner |
10/3(-33%) | (3) Fight Your Corner 10/3, Improved to get off the mark upped in trip when winning a novice at Southwell by 3/4l last time; effective at 7/8f, acts on AW; more to come in handicaps. Off the mark upped to 1m at Southwell 24 days ago; still has potential; leading claims. |

(4) (10/3 +44%)Port Road |
10/3(+44%) | (4) Port Road 10/3, Back to form when landing a handicap by 1/2l off a 3lb lower mark here last time; effective at 8f and handles the all-weather; likes Kempton and has a fair chance up just 3lb. Both wins over C&D, the latest two weeks ago; up 3lb and steps back up into Class 4. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (5/1 +17%)Midnight's Dream |
5/1(+17%) | (6) Midnight's Dream 5/1, Below form after a slow start when beaten 9l in a handicap here last time; blinkers on for the first time; partnered by a top course jockey; returns from a short break; effective at 7f and 8f on the all-weather; bit to prove at present. Ended 2025 quietly but Oisin Murphy booked for his return and blinkers are now added. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(7) (7/1 +0%)Panelli |
7/1(+0%) | (7) Panelli 7/1, Best work late, ran to form beaten 2l off a 2lb higher mark at Southwell last time; effective 5-8f, acts on GF and AW; inconsistent in short career. Latest Southwell run (7f) was his best for new connections; return to 1m a plus; contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (12/1 +0%)Signcastle City |
12/1(+0%) | (5) Signcastle City 12/1, Below form when beaten 7 1/4l in a handicap at Southwell last time; drawn wide; effective at 7f and 8f and acts on the all-weather; continues to drop in the weights. Failed to win last year and never dangerous on first run in 2026; lowly mark but risky. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(8) (20/1 +0%)I Am Me |
20/1(+0%) | (8) I Am Me 20/1, Ran to form when beaten 2 1/4l off a 1lb higher mark here last time; effective at 8f and 9f on the all-weather; needs to find more to feature. Third of nine behind Port Road here two weeks ago when 66-1; not sure to build on it. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (33/1 -65%)Trojan Storm |
33/1(-65%) | (2) Trojan Storm 33/1, Below form down in trip back from a break when beaten 8 1/4l in a handicap at Wolverhampton last time; had been in good form prior; effective from 11f to 14f, with the latter likely to suit best; trip still on the short side. Last year's two wins were 1m4f and 1m6f; opposable at 1m. |

FIGHT YOUR CORNER seemed well suited by stepping up to a mile at Southwell last month and could have plenty more to offer now he goes handicapping from a lenient opening mark. Port Road made the most of a drop in the ratings when he scored over C&D a fortnight ago and can cement his authority over the third-placed I Am Me, who has been nudged down 1lb and has each-way appeal.

Panelli is respected but the unexposed FIGHT YOUR CORNER can make a winning handicap debut.

(5) (11/8 +8%)Shrimp Shady |
11/8(+8%) | (5) Shrimp Shady 11/8, Best run since returning from 11 months off beaten 2l off a 3lb lower mark at Lingfield last time; top course jockey/trainer combination; effective 8-12f, acts on fast ground and AW; chance again. Ended 2025 with a good 2nd at Lingfield (1m2f); longer trip a positive; not fully exposed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (3/1 +45%)Londoner |
3/1(+45%) | (1) Londoner 3/1, Below form when down the field in a handicap at Chelmsford last time; had been in good form beforehand and now returns from a short break. Effective at 10/11f and acts on the all-weather; usual cheekpieces back on. Good placed efforts on last two runs over this C&D; should run his race once again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (7/1 +50%)Umbria |
7/1(+50%) | (6) Umbria 7/1, Below form well beaten in a handicap at Southwell latest; trainer in form; effective 11-14f, acts on a sound surface; drop in trip a plus. Yet to run a poor race at this track and she returns to Kempton off a reduced mark; chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(7) (8/1 -14%)Woodstock City |
8/1(-14%) | (7) Woodstock City 8/1, Ran to form second beaten a short-head off 72 last time, 1lb higher here; effective 10-12f, prefers a sound surface; needs more off this mark. Near miss at Lingfield 11 days ago (1m2f); current wellbeing will count for plenty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (9/1 -13%)Son Of Man |
9/1(-13%) | (3) Son Of Man 9/1, Ran to form beaten 2l off this mark at Nottingham last time; off a short-break; suited by 10f, acts on any, likes it testing; fair chance back from short break. Yet to add to his debut win but several good runs last year; e-w claims back from a break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (9/1 +0%)Mr Baloo |
9/1(+0%) | (2) Mr Baloo 9/1, Ran to form when beaten 7 1/2l in a handicap at Lingfield last time. Effective at 8-10f, best on the all-weather; needs to find a bit more than of late. Struggled since September and now steps up in trip with a point to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (12/1 0%)Ludo's Landing |
12/1(0%) | (4) Ludo's Landing 12/1, Back to form 5l third in a handicap at Lingfield most recent run; off a short-break; effective 10-12f, acts on any, but may prefer sound surface; much more like it latest. C&D winner; latest Lingfield 3rd was a step back in the right direction; not ruled out. |

Woodstock City has to be respected following his short-head second at Lingfield earlier in the month. That said, marginal preference is for the unexposed SHRIMP SHADY, who bounced back to form when hitting the crossbar at the same venue. With the prospect of further improvement likely, Andrew Balding's colt can come out on top. Son Of Man and Ludo's Landing are the pick of the remainder.

Unexposed 4yo SHRIMP SHADY (nap) could be the answer on the back of his good second at Lingfield last month. Umbria is feared most.

(3) (13/8 +7%)Onyeisi |
13/8(+7%) | (3) Onyeisi 13/8, Game effort when second beaten 1 1/4l off 60 last time, same mark here; visor first time; suited by 10f, acts on AW; consistent since headgear applied. 1m2f winner last season; solid efforts in defeat since; new trip/headgear can help. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (2/1 +43%)Von Dutch |
2/1(+43%) | (1) Von Dutch 2/1, Outpaced when finishing 9l third in a novice at Wolverhampton last time; trainer in form. Effective at 9f, middle-distance bred, acts on all-weather, and could improve further now stepping up in trip for this handicap debut. Looks a likely improver now stepping up to middle distances for his handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (10/3 +17%)Maxwellcan |
10/3(+17%) | (2) Maxwellcan 10/3, Disappointing handicap debut when beaten 8l in a nursery at Newcastle last time; top course jockey; off a short-break and newly gelded; likely improver now handicapping. Disappointing at two but gelded since latest run and middle distances should suit better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (5/1 +23%)Trust No One |
5/1(+23%) | (4) Trust No One 5/1, Scored very cosily up in trip, running at least to form landing a handicap by 1/2l off a 3lb lower mark at Newcastle last time; suited by 8-10f, acts on AW; possibly more to come. Off mark when quickening best in slowly-run 1m2f race at Newcastle; stamina query at 1m4f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (25/1 -56%)Cospicua |
25/1(-56%) | (5) Cospicua 25/1, Poor again when well beaten in a novice at Southwell last time. Likely to need 10f or further and may have been flattered by her debut run. Steps up in trip for h'cap debut and may improve but her sire has a poor record over 1m2f+. |

Trust No One accounted for ONYEISI when winning at Newcastle and has to be respected as a result. The latter, who again filled the runner-up berth at Lingfield last weekend, is better off at the weights, though, and the application of a first-time visor may help him to reverse the form. The rest all have questions to answer, but Von Dutch is the pick of them on his handicap debut.

Charlie Johnston could hold the key and MAXWELLCAN is preferred to Onyeisi.
Ths is the racecard key.

This is the 16:15 Kempton race from the video above backed at 28/1 earlier in the day.
Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
