LTO Selection:

12:00 Tramore Maiden Hurdle 17f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

GORGEOUS TOM has some strong form to his name and looks the one to beat. An eye-catching fourth on his debut for current connections, he followed-up on that effort by chasing home subsequent Grade 1 winner Caldwell Potter on his most recent start at Navan. The Henry de Bromhead-trained bay pulled seven-lengths clear of the third at the Co Meath venue, with recent Limerick winner Cato's Revenge in behind. Second on debut in the Goffs Defender Bumper, Milo Lises unseated on his first try over flights when sent off favourite. Coming from the powerhouse yard of Willie Mullins, he is sure to go close. Hexham bumper winner Boldog starts off for Joseph O'Brien and has definite claims, while Cappuccino, who has been placed three times from four starts, is another for the shortlist.

Only a handful of these make any serious appeal and it's MILO LISES who gets the nod for Willie Mullins having been sent off favourite but not getting very far on his hurdling debut at Navan just over 3 weeks ago. The obvious threat is Gorgeous Tom, who improved plenty from hurdling debut when finishing runner-up to a subsequent winner on the same card. Boldog and Cappucino are a couple of hurdling debutants also worth keeping a close eye on.

Mullins has a great record in this maiden but Milo Lises departed early at Navan and preference is for GORGEOUS TOM.

LTO Selection:

12:10 Fairyhouse Conditions Hurdle 17f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

MOLLYS MANGO is the only track winner in the line-up and should prove hard to beat. Disappointingly pulled up on her most recent start at Wexford, the Gordon Elliott-trained bay was found to be 'blowing hard post race', while Jack Kennedy reported 'that his mount ran keen'. That Wexford contest was her first try over 2m4f and back in trip now, it's difficult to look beyond the Caldwell Construction-owned six-year-old, who is from the family of 2014 Stayers' Hurdle winner More Of That. Jazzie De Chaillac has attempted to make all on both of her track starts to date and dropping in trip to 2m1f, it'll be interesting to see if she can sustain the gallop. Littlebiggie has a point-to-point win to her name and should be able to make her presence felt. A fair sixth on her debut over flights at Punchestown, she was a place ahead of Clonmel bumper winner Rainbow Trail.

Although MOLLYS MANGO disappointed at Wexford last time she's still a standout in this weak race. Littlebiggie should be sharper with her Punchestown hurdle debut experience behind her and can fill the forecast spot.

A low-key start to proceedings. MOLLYS MANGO, who has by far the best form and wasn't right when disappointing at Wexford, should score

(5) Peaky Boy 13/8, Cost £240,000 after winning an Irish point and made a good start in bumpers for Michael Scudamore in autumn 2022, seeing things out really well when landing Newcastle contest. Had a wind op subsequently. Longer trip sure to suit now hurdling and likely to be ready to go for new yard. Key player.

Ran to a fair level on hurdling debut at Ascot (19.3f) 5 weeks ago, looking rather ungainly under pressure but perhaps still needing experience. That form is solid and he can improve.

(3) Glengolly 100/1, Showed some promise on his debut in bumper but well beaten in Newbury sales race next time. Up in trip for hurdles debut back from 9 months off.
First bumper run last March (on good) was better than his second (on soft); no claims yet.
LTO Selection:

12:20 Cheltenham Maiden Hurdle (Class 2) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

Innatendue might have been slightly unfortunate not to open her account over timber last time. The Irish raider finished a narrow second over 2m here in November, but Sean Bowen lost an iron late on and that could have made the difference. She holds every chance but preference is for PEAKY BOY, who hasn't been seen since winning a bumper at Newcastle for Michael Scudamore in November 2022. Now in the care of Nicky Henderson, he can make an immediate impact now sent over hurdles. Champagne Twist is also noted.

PEAKY BOY looked a good jumps prospect in bumpers last autumn and may have been found a good opening for his first go over hurdles for his new yard, with the stiffer test sure to suit. Innatendue, who went close over 2m here in November, will be the danger if staying this longer trip. Magical King is also in with a shout.

Irish point and Newcastle bumper winner PEAKY BOY may well score again on this first attempt both over hurdles and for Nicky Henderson.

Useful hurdler in France; absent since pulled up in British chase a year ago.
LTO Selection:

12:25 Exeter Handicap Chase (Class 4) 19f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Tango Tara seems worthy of a market watch on his debut over fences for the Paul Nicholls yard, but this is his first run following wind surgery and over 20 months off the track. He might go well regardless, but HIGH GAME ROYAL is narrowly preferred for the stable which won this in 2020. Second and third on his two starts over fences, he can put that experience to good use with Callum Pritchard's 7lb claim a bonus. Royal Sam could be the surprise package.

Cases can be made for the majority of these and the suggestion is WESTERN GENERAL, who was third to none other than Captain Teague on his sole start between the flags and he can be expected to build on the promise he showed over hurdles now switched to fences. Tango Tara is another interesting chase debutant and is next on the list ahead of High Game Royal, who is just about the pick of those with experience in this sphere.

Preference is for HIGH GAME ROYAL, who ran well when placed in his first two chases and will be suited by today's testing conditions.

LTO Selection:

12:30 Tramore Handicap Hurdle 17f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

CLARENS is the selection in this competitive affair. Not the most consistent of late, he was a fine second of 20 on his penultimate start, with subsequent Leopardstown winners Music Of Tara and One Last Tango in third and fourth respectively. Pulled up when tried over 2m4f for the first time on his most recent outing, he might be able to bounce back now, dropping in trip. In truth, it's difficult to safely rule out any of the remaining eight contenders. Handicap debutant Belle The Lioness is given second preference and she is sure to have plenty of supporters, while the same can be said of Star Official with Danny Mullins aboard. Three-time winner Little Mixup warrants respect, while course victor Bynx and Ceberus, who won a Grade 3 as a juvenile, are others of interest.

BELLE THE LIONESS made an encouraging return when third at Wexford and can take a step forward now going into handicaps and resume winning ways. Clarens should prove suited by reverting to this trip so could emerge as the main danger to Henry de Bromhead's mare ahead of Star Official.

There's no question that CERBERUS has become frustrating but his mark continues to fall and he's back to his best distance.

LTO Selection:

12:35 Musselburgh Conditions Hurdle (Class 4) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

TEORIE had plenty in hand when landing the odds on his hurdling debut at Catterick a couple of weeks ago and Fergal O'Brien's gelding is hard to oppose on the back of that performance. Churchwarden showed some ability in a short Flat career last year and he should not be discounted as a result. Union Flag and Rory The Cat are the pick of the remainder.

TEORIE overcame a few indifferent leaps to make a winning start over hurdles at Catterick 13 days ago and is taken to follow up. Union Flag will give him something to think about if back to the form he showed when winning over C&D, while a market move for Churchwarden would be very interesting given John McConnell's excellent recent record in this race.

The vote goes to TEORIE, who should build on his Catterick win. Churchwarden is second choice.

12:40 Fairyhouse Maiden Hurdle 21f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

A match between MY TRUMP CARD and I Will Be Baie, with preference for the Gordon Elliott-trained former. Bred by Patrick Mullins and a brother to Grade 1 winner Airlie Beach, the selection has valuable hurdling experience to his name and comfortably accounted for nine rivals when successful in a bumper at Navan on his most recent start. Back over flights now, the E230,000 Goffs Land Rover Sale purchase looks an exciting prospect going forward. A beaten favourite on two of his four outings to date, I Will Be Baie starts off over flights. Bought for 150,000 pounds after winning a point-to-point for Colin Bowe, the French-bred grey should give the selection plenty to think about. One of four Tom Gibney-trained runners in the line-up, Ah Remy Martin looks the best of the rest.

MY TRUMP CARD and I Will Be Baie both displayed useful form in bumpers and comfortably rate the pair to focus on. The former is narrowly preferred holding hurdles experience over the latter. Run For Harry and Ah Remy Martin can do battle for third spot.

A two-horse. MY TRUMP CARD, proven on the ground and with the benefit of hurdling experience, is preferred to I Will Be Baie

There was far more encouragement to be taken from HAWKSEYE VIEW's recent third-placed finish over C&D and he looks to hold every chance of gaining a breakthrough victory in this sphere. Penalised French hurdle winner Jiair Madrik has some fair form to his name and Donald McCain's charge could give the selection plenty to think about on his UK debut, while Rumble B boasts plenty of experience in this discipline.

LET'S GO JOE won on hurdle bow at Sedgefield in November and this looks a good opportunity for a follow up. Hawkseye View left his Rules debut form behind when third over C&D recently and he's next best ahead of French-import Jiair Madrik and the exposed Rumble B.

Former Irish pointer LET'S GO JOE, successful at Sedgefield on his hurdles debut, is taken to beat the progressive Hawkseye View.

12:55 Cheltenham Handicap Chase (Class 3) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

MATATA put in an excellent round of jumping when making all to win on his chasing bow at Ffos Las in October, and natural improvement could make Nigel Twiston-Davies' six-year-old a tough nut to crack. Libberty Hunter came down three out at Chepstow on his first start over the larger obstacles, but he made no mistake when scoring at Wincanton next time and he merits respect along with Petit Tonnerre, who was far from disgraced in the Henry VIII at Sandown.

MATATA looked one to keep firmly on side when running out a most impressive winner on return/chase debut at Ffos Las in October, jumping boldly and ultimately winning eased up. He can defy a 9 lb hike in the weights and come out on top again. Libberty Hunter and Petit Tonnerre head up the dangers, in that order.

A warm little race. LIBBERTY HUNTER was very impressive at Wincanton last time and is taken to defy a 10lb rise and follow up.

LTO Selection:

13:00 Exeter Handicap Hurdle (Class 4) 22f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Chloe's Court has an excellent record here with two wins and two places from four starts. Feivel could go well if first-time blinkers bring about improvement, but LONGSHANKS is a fascinating contender. A winner over fences off a rating of 112 here in 2022, he has looked rejuvenated winning two point-to-points of late and everything points to a bold showing. Danton and Kimberley Eve are also worthy of serious consideration.

There should be more to come from the unexposed DANTON, who got the job done in a big-field C&D handicap last time and a 4 lb rise is pretty much negligible. Longshanks won twice between the flags in November and is of interest back hurdling off an attractive mark for his new yard, while Cast's Tasha is also accorded respect.

Longshanks is not opposed lightly but C&D winner DANTON has plenty of scope for further progress and gets the vote.

13:05 Tramore Maiden Hurdle 22f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

STOKE THE FIRE begins for Middleham Park Racing Ireland here, and a winning start over jumps could well be in the offing. The Vadamos gelding has been costly to follow, but a Flat rating of 79 marks the stayer out as a useful sort to be going hurdling with. He has course experience, having finished runner-up to subsequent Listed second placer, Uxmal, in September. On outing number two at the venue now, expect an extended two miles and five to play to the Closutton's runners strengths. Notkeepinyagoing faced an unenviable task in chasing home subsequent dual black-type scorer Jetara at Fairyhouse, and taking into account her rider's claim she receives weight from most of her rivals. She's a strong contender for a place in the frame, along with Nouvotic and Sirekoff.

STOKE THE FIRE only just failed to break his maiden on the Flat at Naas in October and can make a winning start in this sphere if taking to hurdles at the first attempt. Sirekoff pulled clear of the rest when runner-up at Clonmel on his hurdles bow and is an obvious threat ahead of Nouvotic and Notkeepinyagoing.

Although a maiden off the Flat, STOKE THE FIRE very nearly won a premier handicap when last seen and he could be decent over hurdles.

13:10 Musselburgh Handicap Hurdle (Class 2) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

BENSON won this race 12 months ago off an 8lb lower mark, but the nine-year-old is only 2lb higher than when winning the Morebattle at Kelso in March. With that in mind, he gets the vote ahead of the consistent Matchless, who was denied by the narrowest of margins on his most recent outing at Doncaster. In This World edges out Afadil to be best of the rest.

MATCHLESS is in top form and, having just been denied at Doncaster last month, he's worth a chance to resume winning ways at the possible expense of Afadil, who is a rare runner at this track for his top stable. In This World is another one to consider.

Paul Nicholls has an excellent record at Musselburgh and AFADIL, who won a Listed 4yo hurdle here last February, gets the nod.

13:15 Fairyhouse Handicap Hurdle 21f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

It might be worth taking a chance on PAY LATER, who starts off for the shrewd Jonathan Sweeney in this wide-open contest. It's interesting that connections are persisting with the 11-year-old, who won a point-to-point back in February of 2019. A fair ninth of 25 on his most recent start at Navan, the Kayf Tara gelding had six subsequent winners in behind. Michael O'Sullivan is a positive jockey booking on the 93-rated bay, who is fitted with a tongue-strap for the first time. Miss Oreo is a more obvious contender and is given second preference. An easy winner over the course and distance on her penultimate start, she since disappointed at Huntingdon, but could bounce back now with Shane Fenelon claiming a valuable 7lb. Recent course winner Don't Talk and Wexford victor Glorytogod Tom are both sure to have plenty of supporters, while Lovely Reaction, Mac's Xpress and handicap debutant Givehimthehonour are others to consider.

Given a considerate introduction to chasing at Clonmel recently, LOVELY REACTION has long since shaped as though this sort of trip would suit and she earns the vote to come out on top returned to hurdling. Last-time-out winner's Don't Talk and Glorytogod Tom head up the dangers, with Mac's Xpress another to consider.

MAC'S XPRESS has a solid chance in this grade on the form he showed in a much stronger Cheltenham hurdle contest.

13:20 Catterick Handicap Hurdle (Class 5) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Belle Na Bann capitalised off a career-low mark when landing the spoils at Newcastle recently. A 3lb rise in the ratings is unlikely to prevent another bold bid from the mare and she must enter calculations. However, RESTANDBETHANKFUL has been in good form over fences of late and switches to hurdles off a 10lb lower rating. The eight-year-old just shades the verdict, with Calevade completing the shortlist.

RESTANDBETHANKFUL failed to fire on his latest start in this sphere in August but is well worth another chance having hit the crossbar off a 7 lb higher mark over fences recently at Musselburgh where he pulled clear of the rest. Vocal Duke is feared most, for all that he's proving to be rather hit-and-miss, while Belle Na Bann has to enter calculations on the back of her Newcastle success and Chase A Fortune would be a threat if able to get back on track.

After his good second to a progressive sort at Sedgefield last time CALEVADE (nap) is taken to win an open-looking handicap.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

Preference is for INCH HOUSE, who arrives having notched up a brace of Newbury successes, and he can continue his progression, despite a further 7lb rise in the handicap. Cloudy Glen finished a respectable fifth when attempting to repeat his 2021 triumph in the Coral Gold Cup at the same venue last month, a race which saw Stumptown fail to complete (pulled up), and both need taking seriously. Angels Breath should not be underestimated either.

A good opportunity for the highly progressive INCH HOUSE to complete the hat-trick up against 3 veterans and an out-of-form Stumptown. Angels Breath can follow the selection home back down in class.

Jonjo O'Neill has an excellent prospect on his hands in INCH HOUSE, who scored in such promising style at Newbury on his last two runs.

13:35 Exeter Maiden Hurdle (Class 4) 17f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Royal Jewel made all and stayed on well to win over C&D last month at odds of 18/1 and he can go well once more. SUMMERLEAZE could be the one, though. She has performed well without success in point-to-points since her one bumper outing and may come out on top in a weak contest. Diamatiste may follow them home if he can improve on his first start since joining Kayley Woollacott.

ROYAL JEWEL posted a fairly useful effort when going in over C&D last month and with further improvement very much on the cards he looks more than capable of defying a 7 lb penalty. Chauffeur Driven could emerge as the chief threat if shrugging off a lesser effort at Taunton, with Storming Nelson and Diamatiste appealing as the pick of the remainder for minor honours.

The obvious answer is ROYAL JEWEL, who made all over C&D 19 days ago and may not need to make any further progress to follow up.

13:40 Tramore Handicap Hurdle 22f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

BUACHAILLBOCHT can make light of the 10Ib hike in the ratings he received, for a course and distance success from November. Second and third on that occasion, Kiln Time and Cruisin Susan, reoppose now on better terms. However, neither has the same scope for progression as Buachaillbocht, and allied to that he hails for a string in cracking good order. Another track and trip victor that will justifiably have her supporters is Blossom De Mai. She's in receipt of a lot of weight from Buahaillbocht, and could be difficult to keep out of the frame. For local owners, What An Ocean is one of the lesser lights in Gordon Elliott's yard, but connections perseverance may be rewarded at some stage.

KILN TIME wasted no time getting back on track when just failing at Fairyhouse and can resume winning ways at the main expense of Buachaillbocht, who showed big improvement when beating the selection by ¾ length on handicap bow here 5 weeks ago but is now 6 lb worse off with Kiln Time. What An Ocean is best of the others.

Despite a hefty 10lb hike for a recent C&D win, the still unexposed BUACHAILLBOCHT can follow up

LTO Selection:

13:45 Musselburgh Handicap Hurdle (Class 3) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

PANJARI was third in a competitive event on his handicap debut at Cheltenham recently and Paul Nicholls' unexposed gelding can return to winning ways here. That said, Williethebuilder was not far behind the selection on that occasion and looks a big danger. The hat-trick seeking Park Annonciade is another with strong form claims, while Caithness and Belle Of Annandale complete the shortlist.

A hot renewal of this traditional New Year's Day handicap with PARK ANNONCIADE taken to get the hat-trick up. He was value for nearer double the winning margin when taking a good contest at Haydock on Betfair Chase Day and can go on improving. There is more to come from Caithness and he's feared, while Donald McCain, who has won 2 of the last 3 runnings of this, saddles an interesting pair in Collingham (second last year) and Ballygeary.

Judged on his latest effort, this sharper test is likely to suit WILLIETHEBUILDER. Second choice is Park Annonciade.

CHER WHY NOT is an out and out stayer and won this race 12-months ago. Knocking on the door of late, the Flemensfirth chestnut will again be ridden by David Doyle who claims a valuable 7lb. The hat-trick seeking Duffys Getaway was fourth behind the selection in last year's renewal and is given second preference. After easy recent wins, the progressive Philip Rothwell-trained seven-year-old is now on a career high mark of 102, but might still be ahead of the handicapper. Read To Return, who caught the attention of the stewards at Cheltenham in November, is another leading hope. The Tony Martin-trained bay wasn't beaten far on his most recent outings over 2m4f and he should appreciate this step up in trip.

DUFFYS GETAWAY can go on improving and land the hat-trick. Last year's winner Cher Why Not is a danger, while Read To Return is also a big player back up in trip.

Doubtless Read To Return will be popular again but trip and ground are fine for DUFFYS GETAWAY (nap) who can complete a hat-trick

Ideal Du Tabert has operated at a fair level in Ireland of late and Cian Collins' inmate is feared most ahead of Conquredalofeurope.

14:00 Newcastle Handicap (Class 2) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

DUKE OF OXFORD hasn't looked back since being upped in trip and defeated Enemy (second) at Kempton last month. The son of Kingman can continue his improvement and a hat-trick looks very much on the cards raised 5lb in the handicap. Roberto Escobarr was imperious when landing a Group 3 in Italy 44 days ago and must be respected back in a handicap. Others to note include Sir Chauvelin and fellow veteran Rainbow Dreamer.

DUKE OF OXFORD progressed again when scoring in good style at Kempton last time and, with more still to offer at this trip, he can go on to land the hat-trick. The 4-y-o is taken to get the better of Roberto Escobarr, who is respected back in handicap company on his second start for Mick Appleby, while Evaluation is also considered having met trouble on his latest outing.

Top of the list is DUKE OF OXFORD, who has won upped to 2m at Kempton in his last two starts and is open to more improvement.

It is difficult to look past the progressive STAGE STAR, who would have won the Paddy Power Gold Cup here by further but for a blunder at the last. Expected to be sharper in the jumping department, the classy eight-year-old can see off some seasoned handicappers en route to a likely tilt at the Ryanair at the Festival. Richmond Lake continues to go from strength to strength and arrives on a five-timer, while Shakem Up'arry shaped well for a long way over over further in the Coral Gold Cup at Newbury.

STAGE STAR has to concede lumps of weight all round but advertised his Ryanair claims when a decisive winner of the Paddy Power Gold Cup here on his return and can now defy an official mark of 166. Richmond Lake also arrives on an upward curve and is feared most in his bid to complete a remarkable five-timer, although a solid case can also be made for in-form duo Frero Banbou and Shakem Up' Arry.

Paddy Power Gold Cup winner Stage Star is respected but preference is for SHAKEM UP'ARRY now back down in distance.

14:10 Exeter Maiden Hurdle (Class 4) 18f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

PENTIRE HEAD posted a respectable second in an 18-runner affair at Wincanton last month and a similar bid may suffice. Paul Nicholls' charge should enjoy this slightly stiffer test and he edges the vote ahead of Iris Des Issards. The six-year-old offered a lot more to work with when runner-up here latest and he looks a potential improver over this longer distance. Geezer Rockstar and Blue Ridge Hill are others to consider.

IRIS DES ISSARDS is taken to confirm recent course superiority over Moorefields and make it third time lucky over hurdles. Harry Fry's very good recent record in this contest makes Geezer Rockstar a must for the shortlist, while Pentire Head may not be entirely straightforward but should still have a say for Paul Nicholls.

Another chance is given to GEEZER ROCKSTAR, who never really looked threatening on his hurdling debut but won a bumper in good style.

14:15 Tramore Conditions Chase 23f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

Paul Townend is on duty at Fairyhouse, and it could be that Danny Mullins finds himself on the Closutton number one hope in the shape of CLASSIC GETAWAY. The Cheveley Park Stud-owned eight-year-old is lightly less risky than stable companions Bronn and Monkfish, on the back of his Thurles success. Bronn's Wexford effort was too bad to be true, and hopefully he can show his true colours now after striking into his left fore pastern then. In receipt of 3Ib from Classic Getaway, Monkfish is much respected. We don't see the hugely talented chestnut too often, though, and market movements ought to be revealing as Brian Hayes takes the reins for the first time. Of the rest, Minella Crooner shouldn't be judged too harshly for pulling up in a marathon contest last time, whilst ex-Mullins representative Jungle Boogie can progress off a recent comeback effort. Former Thyestes hero Longhouse Poet may find this an insufficient stamina test. Roi Mage finished a well-held third here a year ago, but arrives off the back of a big French cross-country success.

CLASSIC GETAWAY has improved since switched to chasing and was impressive at Thurles on his reappearance, so he's the likeliest winner for all that his stablemate, Monkfish is a real class act on his day. Jungle Boogie is an intriguing runner on his second outing for Henry de Bromhead.

Willie Mullins has farmed this in recent years and has three live chances here, the pick being CLASSIC GETAWAY who impressed at Thurles

CRACKING DESTINY took care of Fidelio Vallis by just under five lengths over 2m here in November and although 6lb worse off, that is unlikely to be enough to prevent the veteran from going in again. Fidelio Vallis could get closer, especially if allowed an uncontested lead, while Half Shot did it nicely over an extended 2m7f here and it would be no surprise to see him get into contention off a 7lb higher mark.

FRERE D'ARMES stepped up plenty on his reappearance run and likely would have proved even more of a threat without a mistake 3 out when finishing runner-up at Ascot 37 days ago. Unexposed at this sort of trip, he can confirm himself on a handy mark. Fidelio Vallis and Half Shot head up the dangers, whilst it would come as no surprise to see a better showing from Cooper's Cross.

With the new trip well worth exploring, FRERE D'ARMES (nap) can build on his latest effort. Fidelio Vallis is second choice.

14:25 Fairyhouse Conditions Chase 21f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

Paul Townend would have had a strong book of rides at Tramore, but ALLEGORIE DE VASSY is probably the main reason he has opted to visit Fairyhouse. A beaten favourite on her most recent venture to the Co Meath venue, the selection got back to winning ways on her seasonal reappearance at Clonmel in November. She got the better of Instit at the Powerstown Park circuit and that stable companion re-opposes now. Sean O'Keeffe will be aboard Instit, with this 142-rated bay a perfect two from two at Fairyhouse, beating the selection into second when they clashed here in April. Rivere D'etel will have her supporters, but she hasn't managed to win a race in over two years and doesn't appear to be as good as she once was. The other three contenders all have plenty to find on ratings.

ALLEGORIE DE VASSY remains one of the best in this division on her day, and following her successful reappearance at Clonmel she can see off stablemate Instit again.

While Riviere D'Etel is a major danger receiving 8lb, it is still difficult to oppose the classy ALLEGORIE DE VASSY.

JIMMY CHOU PECOS AA sets a fair standard in this contest with a rating of 124 after he hit the frame over 2m4f on heavy ground at Hexham on his latest outing. He looks to have been found a golden opportunity to get his head in front. The main danger is Iorangi De L'isle, who makes his debut over hurdles after just one bumper start when beaten two lengths into third at this track. Ravanelli is another to consider.

A golden opportunity for JIMMY CHOU PECOS AA, who is yet to finish out of the placings in this sphere and John McConnell's Irish-raider should come on from his recent Hexham outing. Iorangi de l'Isle shaped well in a course bumper on his Rules debut so he looks the obvious threat, with Ravenelli seemingly best of the rest.

This could go to the Donald McCain-trained point winner IORANGI DE L'ISLE, who is preferred over Jimmy Chou Pecos AA.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

The vote goes to GREAT BLASKET, who was successful on his first start for Dr Richard Newland and Jamie Insole last month. Raised just 1lb and with improvement likely, he can score again. Frankel filly Flindrikin was a close-up third over C&D on her handicap debut four days ago, and a first-time tongue-tie might eke out further progress. Broctune Red has a good record here and should not be written off, while Sense Of Worth is another to consider.

Several in with a shout in an open race. TRIBAL WISDOM gave an indication that he may be ready to strike from his reduced mark when fourth at Lingfield last week and Billy Loughnane doing the steering in an apprentice event is always a bonus. Flindrikin, who like the selection turns out again quickly, heads the many dangers along with Great Blasket and Open Choice.

The vote goes to SENSE OF WORTH, who got back in the groove with a clearcut win at Southwell and remains well treated on his old form.

(2) Butch 7/2, Progressive hurdler last season who made the most a good opportunity upped to 3m on return at Southwell in October. Improved when following up in a useful-looking novice here (3m, soft) later that month and this 7-y-o may well take another step forward now pitched into a handicap.
Upped to 3m this season for two front-running novice wins, rallying well here on latest.

(9) My Bobby Dazzler 9/1, Dug deep when making a successful start off a 1 lb higher mark over fences at Worcester in June. Plenty of decent hurdles form to his name in this sphere (made the frame 3 times in Class 2 handicap hurdles earlier this year) but he's up against some unexposed, promising types here.

Looked miles ahead of his mark when striding away with a 3m Newbury handicap (good to soft) next time and further progress is likely given his low mileage.
Upped to 3m for impressive win at Newbury (good to soft; acts on soft); 9lb higher today.

Made it 4-6 in this sphere when landing a 21f handicap on return (heavy) in November and, with this stiffer test unlikely to be an issue and a 6 lb rise fair enough, he's a must for the shortlist. Tongue tie added.

(8) Ikarak 6/1, French import who opened his account on these shores in a Worcester novice in October. Followed up from the front at Newcastle (2¾m, soft) recently and while he has more on his plate back in a handicap, his current mark is a fair one and he's certainly not without each-way hope.

More needed off this revised mark back in handicap company but couldn't rule out. Also engaged 2.49 Southwell.
A career best is probably needed on this return to a handicap but he needs respect.

Generally performed with credit in 5 starts last season, not least when runner-up off 1 lb lower at Taunton (3m, good to soft) in April, but he looks vulnerable back from an 8-month break.
No win under rules since November 2019 but capable of being on the premises.
LTO Selection:

14:40 Cheltenham Handicap Hurdle (Class 2) 24f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

A major improver on the step up to three miles at Newbury, ED KEEPER remains unexposed and should have plenty more to come off a 9lb higher mark. Sam Thomas' charge may have enough improvement in the tank to see off C&D winner Butch and Springwell Bay, who is entitled to progress for the rise in distance, having scored well here in November over 2m5f. Come On Teddy showed a hint of promise on his return from an absence and is expected to step forward.

The shortlist comprises three up-and-coming types, namely ED KEEPER, Butch and Springwell Bay, in order of preference. It was hard not to be impressed by the way Ed Keeper went about his business upped to 3m at Newbury and this unexposed 6-y-o looks more than capable of defying a 9 lb rise in the weights. Butch and Springwell Bay, both successful here last time out, shouldn't be far away, though, and Come On Teddy showed enough on his comeback spin to suggest that he retains plenty of ability.

Proven stamina is preferred on very testing ground and ED KEEPER (nap) asserted in grand style over 3m at Newbury.

LTO Selection:

14:45 Exeter Handicap Chase (Class 4) 24f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

JOHNNY B appeared revitalised by a 393-day layoff when landing a competitive handicap hurdle at Wincanton last month. A return to chasing should prove no issue for Chris Down's charge and he's fancied to complete a double. Fellow last-time-out winner Sherborne is open to improvement now faced with a stiffer test of stamina and he isn't taken lightly, with Stellar Stream also making some appeal.

Several hold sound claims, though ART DECCO is perhaps most interesting having been lowered in the weights for his third behind a pair of in-form rivals at Chepstow last time. Sherborne has made a good start to life over fences and can go well again attempting to follow up his Wincanton success, with Leissieres Expess and Sadler's Bay others to consider.

The pick is LEISSIERES EXPRESS (nap), who made steady headway from a long way off the pace to take third over C&D six weeks ago.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

Owner David L'Estrange had a 2023 to remember on the equine and indeed canine front, and he can get 2024 off to the perfect start courtesy of the Philip Dempsey-trained LOW MILEAGE. A bad mistake contributed to Low Mileage pulling up at Fairyhouse in November. In a well-contested Molony Cup at Thurles last time though, a fifth place finish was much more like it, and though back in trip and still a maiden trust J J Slevin to put his mount's experience to good use. Making Country returns after a substantial absence. Many were pleased to see the old-firm alliance of J P McManus and Edward O'Grady combine with an exciting sort in No Flies On Him at Leopardstown. That fellow's jockey, Mark Walsh, can make his presence felt now as well on point-to-point scorer Making Country. Warm In Gorey looks the pick of Philip Rothwell's pair.

A few of these arrive with question marks against them so it is worth siding with winning-pointer MAKING COUNTRY to defy a long absence and go in at the first time of asking in this sphere. Low Mileage rates the obvious threat despite taking a big drop in trip. Mount Frisco and Warm In Gorey can fight it out for minor honours.

A weak rated novice chase in which it could pay to take a chance on the reappearing chase debutant MAKING COUNTRY

DR SHIROCCO is seeking a hat-trick after just getting up by a neck over C&D in November and he may have been let off lightly to only be raised 3lb. He is taken to go in again, although Baron Briggs ran well enough to finish third at Kelso after undergoing wind surgery and could take another step forward off a 1lb lower rating. Euchan Falls completes the shortlist.

A few in with a squeak but EUCHAN FALLS improved on his chasing debut effort when finishing runner-up at Ayr 3 weeks ago, and with better still to come, he's fancied to come out on top at the expense of Baron Briggs, who paid the price for trying first to close down the front runner at Kelso a couple of months ago. Dr Shirocco and Indian Louis are another couple of interesting contenders, also.

Lightly raced BARON BRIGGS is taken to show progress and get off the mark. Dr Shirocco is second choice.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

Four of these finished behind Corbetts Cross over the course and distance last month, with NICK ROCKETT by far the best of them in fourth. A Grade 2 winner over flights, the Willie Mullins-trained selection is the choice of Paul Townend and he should prove too strong for his six rivals. Stable companion Tactical Move looks the main danger. Out of action for more than three years, he was successful on his return at Punchestown and makes his racecourse debut over fences now. That Punchestown success was almost a year ago, with the Stowaway gelding clearly meeting with another setback in the interim. Santonito looks the best of the rest after finishing third on his debut over fences at Navan, while Cheltenham Festival winner Good Time Jonny is likely to come into his own in handicap company.

NICK ROCKETT had a few of these rivals well behind him when making a promising start to his chase career here last month and should be very hard to beat with improvement on the cards. His talented, but seemingly fragile, stablemate Tactical Move is the one likely to give him most to do.

With a clear round of jumping, NICK ROCKETT will be very difficult to beat, as he holds most of these rivals on recent C&D form.

EVENT OF SIVOLA had Gibberwell (second) and Dark Duomo (fourth) behind when scoring by just under two lengths over 3m at Hexham last time. He looks to have lots in his favour to confirm that form. Skyhill made a solid return to action when finishing third over 3m3f at Sedgefield in November and could get involved off a 1lb lower rating, while The Electrician is better than his latest effort at Carlisle.

EVENT OF SIVOLA can uphold Hexham form with Gibberwell, having previously been competeitive from marks even higher than the 5 lb rise he's been handed for that success. Gibberwell himself should pose the biggest threat again, with last year's winner Skyhill also not discounted.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

TO CATCH A THIEF took another step forward to defeat the talented Sir Busker (second) over C&D last month and the unexposed son of Cracksman is fancied to complete a hat-trick from a 6lb higher mark. Penzance (winner) and Storm Catcher (second) square off once again having met at Chelmsford last time and both ought to give a good account. Queen Of Ipanema, King's Code and Wadacre Gomez each arrive on the back of recent victories and must also be taken into consideration.

Lots with chances in a cracking contest but it's still hard to ignore the claims of TO CATCH A THIEF who made a winning start in handicaps over C&D last time and still looks to have a fair bit of improvement in him. Mick Appleby's hat-trick seeker Penzance rates the main danger to William Haggas' son of Cracksman ahead of in-form pair Queen of Ipanema and Sir Busker.

The unexposed TO CATCH A THIEF (nap) has won slowly-run races the last twice and could improve further granted a more thorough test.

15:15 Cheltenham Conditions Hurdle (Class 1) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

Bob Olinger has to be respected following his victory in the Lismullen Hurdle at Navan, but he has not been the most consistent in recent years and that is a concern. As a result, marginal preference is for MARIE'S ROCK, who won this race 12 months ago and she should be more at home over this distance following a couple of attempts at 3m. Brewin'upastorm and Strong Leader are capable of going well, although the aforementioned pair make more appeal.

If MARIE'S ROCK bounces back to the form she showed when winning this 12 months ago she might have a bit too much for dual Festival winner Bob Olinger.

There can be optimism that MARIE'S ROCK will leave her reappearance performance behind and win this race for the second year running.

A taking winner over C&D last month, TIME TO BITE should have plenty more to come under similar conditions and a 9lb rise may not be enough to stop him going in again. Chris Honour's charge is preferred to fellow C&D winner Lightonthewing as well as Merry Monty, who was runner-up here last month over timber and has plenty of potential on his chase debut.

BOLSOVER BILL lost his form for Warren Greatrex but, having been given a break by the handicapper and freshened up by his new stable, he might be worth chancing to bounce back. Last-time-out C&D winner Time To Bite needs considering and Merry Monty is of interest over fences for the first time.

Merry Monty is respected on his chase debut but the vote goes to TIME TO BITE, who put in a dominant display over C&D last month.

The Walsh yard in Doneraile County Cork is struggling to hit the bullseye at present, and that may put some off the chances of ROCHESTOWN. At a venue that provided them with many good days in past, there were tentative signs of a revival for the Walsh outfit at Limerick last week. They clearly mean business now with the booking of Darragh O'Keeffe for Rochestown, and a repeat of his second placing here in November might well be good enough. A 4Ib hike in the weights makes it a little more difficult, and something like chase debutant Glorious Singer could provide stiff enough opposition getting a chunk of weight. Mahler Appeal and Greenway Machine are among the others that need considering.

MAHLER APPEAL and Rochestown could be the pair to concentrate on. The latter is not passed over lightly on the back of his solid reappearance second here in November, but Mahler Appeal returns to this sphere on the back of a couple of solid efforts in big-field handicap hurdles and he is marginally preferred. Lilian Bland is best of the rest.

A clear second over C&D on his comeback run in November, ROCHESTOWN can go one better here, chiefly at the expense of Mahler Appeal

KISS MY FACE was last seen in this sphere when successful at Catterick in February last year and he now has to compete off a 4lb higher rating. He has paid his way on the Flat since and can make a winning return to hurdles. Republican is an interesting contender on his first start for the Harry Derham stable and has proven to be more than capable in this sort of grade. Sanosuke makes some appeal in a first-time visor.

A case can be made for virtually all of these but REPUBLICAN hails from a yard among the winners so is taken to go in at the first time of asking for his new handler and edge out in-form top-weight Call Me Harry. Theirshegoes and Aurora Thunder are both weighted to have a say too in a competitive handicap.

Irish challenger RESERVE JUDGEMENT was going well in front when falling three out at Down Royal in November and holds appealing claims.

STAFFORDSHIRE KNOT might be able to put his experience to good use. The Gordon Elliott-trained bay ran a fine race on debut over flights at Cork, finishing a close third behind two Willie Mullins-trained bumper winners. Likely to come on plenty for that effort, the Shantou six-year-old gets the nod over interesting newcomer I Am River. A E210,000 Tattersalls Derby Sale purchase, I Am River is out of dual winner Dreambaby, who herself is a half-sister to Rhinestone Cowboy and Wichita Lineman. Carrying the colours of JP McManus, market confidence or lack thereof will be telling. With her late in-laws honoured in the feature race on the programme, Lorna Fowler's Recoded would be an apt winner. Third on his two starts to date in the UK, the Kodiac bay is not without his chance under Derek O'Connor. Donnie Devito was a good third on debut at Sligo and it'll be interesting to see how he fares starting off for Ross O'Sullivan.

I AM RIVER is from an excellent family and represents powerful connections, so he's narrowly preferred to Staffordshire Knot, who shaped well in a novice hurdle Cork recently. Recoded is the best of those with bumper experience.

STAFFORDSHIRE KNOT was a fine 3rd in a Cork maiden hurdle on soft. This ground is a concern but he should get away with it.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

HOWZAT HIRIS produced a much better performance to fill the runner-up spot over 2m7f at Market Rasen last time and the handicapper raised her just 1lb for that display. The daughter of Al Namix looks well placed to go one better and record her second career victory. The main threat is Just Jess, who was beaten into fifth here over an extended 2m3f last time and could appreciate the step back up in distance. Of the remainder, Brasingaman Bella makes the most appeal.

ABBEYHILL has shown much improved form upped in trip, getting off the mark at Plumpton in November before running at least as well when second at Taunton next time, so he looks to hold leading claims. Just Jess is now 2 lb lower than when winning this race in 2023 and can make her presence felt, with Howzat Hiris also one to note.

In a low-grade content, JUST JESS is taken to repeat last year's win by beating last month's Market Rasen runner-up Howzat Hiris.

LTO Selection:

15:45 Newcastle Handicap (Class 2) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

With Roger Varian's yard in fine fettle it may pay to side with FANTASTIC FOX, who was a C&D winner off 3lb lower in November and he short of room when fourth at Chelmsford last time out. The six-year-old may make amends for that unlucky run here and get the better of the recent Listed second Tempus and Dear My Friend, who has had wind surgery since his last start and is potentially well handicapped if that brings him back to his peak.

SYMBOL OF LIGHT was unlucky not to win at Kempton 6 weeks ago and can make amends off the same mark. Master Zoffany arrives on the back of a career-best win here so is next best ahead of Fantastic Fox, who wasn't seen to best effect when going for the hat-trick at Chelmsford.

Dear My Friend has a better chance than his form figures suggest but HELM ROCK is fancied to step up on his Chelmsford third.

KEL DU LARGE created a big impression when making a winning debut at Exeter in October and the son of No Risk At All arguably sets the standard on the back of that performance. Carved In Stone may prove to be the main threat to the selection after his success at Doncaster a month ago, while Dirty Den and Sorceleur are just two others to note in what should turn out to be a well-contested bumper.

LA MARQUISE won well at Stratford and might prove the answer in receipt of weight from her male rivals. Fellow winners Dirty Den, Kel du Large and Carved In Stone head the dangers, while Authentic Legacy is a newcomer to keep a close eye on in the betting.

A few of these have chances but the French-bred filly LA MARQUISE looked a smart prospect at Stratford and that form has been franked.

A brother to the high-class Envoi Allen, JOYAU ALLEN could be a decent prospect for the Paul Nicholls stable and this looks like an ideal opportunity in a race that the same connections won last year. Saint Anapolino wasn't disgraced in fifth on his Rules debut at Wincanton in November and there should be improvement to come, while newcomer Park And Ride is related to several winners.

Runner-up on his sole start in Irish points, JOYAU ALLEN makes plenty of appeal starting out in this sphere for his powerful yard and could well be the way to go. Fellow newcomer Valfortore and Saint Anapolino can also feature.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

Shades Of Summer and Wild Side both merit plenty of respect following recent victories but they need to improve again to win here, and top-weight NINE TENTHS may have their beating. The only course winner in the field, the daughter of Kodiac won by close to four lengths at Wolverhampton on her most recent outing and an added 9lb may not stop her following up.

WILD SIDE ended 2023 on an upward curve and she can strike quickly this year with the form of her recent Southwell success working out well. Nine Tenths rates a big threat though on the back of her own Wolverhampton victory last time out, with Julia Augusta another weighted to have a say in a competitive handicap.

Wild Side and Nine Tenths may well be capable of further progress. However, an interesting alternative is JILLY COOPER.

(3) G'day Mate 33/1, Lightly-raced winner. Sold from Mrs J. Harrington 50,000 gns in September. Makes handicap debut. 6f should suit but he returns in a tough race with improvement needed.
Not sure he's well treated ahead of his stable debut and has to prove himself over 6f.

16:45 Newcastle Handicap (Class 2) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

SOMMELIER has made quite the impression since being gelded and the way that he has won his last two outings gives the impression that a mark of 96 may underestimate him on his handicap debut. Brave Empire is returning from a 191-day break but he looked good when winning at Redcar last time and could be the main danger. Another to consider is Blue Prince.

A useful 3-y-o sprint handicap that can go to SOMMELIER who has won his last 2 starts in 6f AW events in good style and can improve further now handicapping. His race-fitness could count for plenty against the returning Brave Empire and Harvanna, who both look decent sprinting prospects if all is well.

Several unexposed runners of interest but BLUE PRINCE quickened smartly to win at Southwell last month and can go in again.

LTO Selection:

17:15 Newcastle Handicap (Class 2) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

BREWING won a similar contest to this over C&D in November and that maintained his unbeaten record at this venue. William Haggas' charge remains thoroughly unexposed and is narrowly preferred to Gisburn, who was third in that contest, as well as the consistent but slightly frustrating Fivethousandtoone in a first-time visor. Completing the shortlist are the likes of Albasheer, Batal Dubai and Pendleton.

BREWING looks better than a handicapper and is hard to get away from for all this is a hot sprint. Albasheer, Pendleton and Gisburn are just three of the potential threats.

Albasheer can go well back in handicap company but the progressive BREWING could still have his nose in front of the handicapper.
