NEWBROOK DIAMOND is taken to make it third-time lucky over flights. An encouraging second on his racecourse debut here in November, he was a little disappointing when third on his latest start at Punchestown. However, Jack Kennedy later reported that his mount hung badly left throughout, and perhaps a return to this left-handed circuit will bring out the best in him. Takenasred has been knocking on the door and had a subsequent winner directly behind when second on his penultimate start at Down Royal. Third when last seen at Ayr, it'll come as no surprise if he manages to make the breakthrough now. Starting off over flights, the Willie Mullins-trained Future Prospect warrants the utmost respect.

A competitive affair, but the tentative vote goes to BARLEY LANE, who was well clear of the remainder when runner-up on hurdling debut

Having improved on his fourth-placed reappearance over C&D when third, again over track and trip, 10 days later, DIAMATISTE looks more than capable of scoring at this level. The seven-year-old is still relatively lightly raced and Rian Corcoran's 3lb claim could prove fruitful. Tzarmix arrives on the back of a close-up second at Hereford and rates as the biggest danger, ahead of handicap debutant Gillespie.

A few of these should run well but the suggestion is DIAMATISTE who has a solid record at this track.

One of three last-time-out winners in the line-up and racing in first-time cheekpieces, CUMBERLAND RIVER gets the nod. Finishing with a flourish to win going away at Limerick over Christmas, the Gordon Elliott-trained four-year-old takes a step up in trip and it should play to his strengths. Making all and easily accounting for 19 rivals at Fairyhouse, Run For Cover is the second choice. Upped 10lb, she might still be ahead of the handicapper. Coming from last to first to make the breakthrough at Down Royal on St Stephen's Day, Boston Bobby warrants the utmost respect as well.

A winner against his elders at Limerick, CUMBERLAND RIVER could be progressive enough to defy the 8lb rise.

CARDINAL POINT invariably has the weight of market expectations behind her and has been costly to follow, but she usually gives her running. She bumped into a gelding unexposed as a stayer at Chelmsford last week and can reward those who keep the faith, with the drop from 1m6f not expected to be an issue. Royal Blaze was a place ahead of Annandale when third over C&D just after Christmas, although King Chaos could be the bigger threat.

Preference is for ANNANDALE who shaped nicely when fourth here last time and can turn the tables on third-placed Royal Blaze.

Best Trump won going away on his sole outing between the flags and market support on his Rules bow would be interesting. Although the JP McManus-owned gelding cannot be dismissed, JOHNNY'S JURY might be the one to beat. The six-year-old posted a good third on his opening bid at Ffos Las almost a year ago and he could be worth chancing on his stable/seasonal debut. Limerick Star is also worth a second look.

With his sole effort having substance, JOHNNY'S JURY is preferred. Best Trump is second choice.

Since this race's elevation to Grade 1 status in 2015, Gordon Elliott and Willie Mullins have won all bar one renewal between them. Mullins appears to have the upper hand in this year's renewal and although Paul Townend rides Saint Baco, he might be upstaged by stable companion SORTUDO. Very impressive when winning a bumper at Fairyhouse in April, he again won with consummate ease on his first try over flights at Cork. Successful on his Irish debut at Navan early last month, Saint Baco is the second choice. He beat Lazare De Star, who gave the form a boost by winning at Leopardstown over Christmas. The choice of Jack Kennedy, Classical Creek looks the pick of Elliott's three.

Saint Baco is completely unexposed but his stablemate SORTUDO got better and better in bumpers and impressed in his maiden.

New Bay Star sets the standard with an official rating of 74 and got closest to an odds-on favourite on his first appearance as a gelding at Chelmsford. Level Look showed a lot more at Lingfield, while ex-Ballydoyle colt Choir Boy can build on his effort over 7f here, but a chance is taken on ASIA FORCE. The son of Frankel is out of a mare who claimed Listed honours over this trip on the all-weather and Karl Burke has spotted a decent first opportunity for him.

Asia Force has an appealing pedigree but NEW BAY STAR has the best form and is the one to beat.

Having dug deep to make a winning chase bow at Taunton, Wicked Thoughts should give another bold bid, while his former stablemate Toss Of A Coin isn't easily dismissed after scoring on his first appearance for Alan Jones at Chepstow.

There's good reason to believe that EL GRANJERO (nap) can take a big step forward from his encouraging second chase run at Aintree.

Given Gordon Elliott's rich vein of form at present, HARTFORD might be good enough to take this on debut. Bought for 235,000 euros, the Blue Bresil bay represents top connections and is a half-brother to Grade 1 winner Handstands. The French-bred Quiryn is also well related, with 2015 Prix du Cadran hero Mille Et Mille a half-brother. Trained by Willie Mullins and set to be partnered by his son Patrick, it'll come as a surprise if this Sottsass gelding is not involved towards the business end. Easy to back when springing a 33/1 surprise in an academy hurdle at Navan last month, Coole Cafe had a subsequent winner behind and warrants the utmost respect in her bid to follow up.

The market will be decisive, with the majority making their debut, but token preference goes to Blue Bresil gelding HARTFORD

Returning to 1m2f is in his favour and he is the logical pick. Trust No One wasn't beaten far on his first start for Lemos De Souza, while Family Values took a step in the right direction when fourth on her handicap debut. Petes Diamond rises markedly in distance but isn't necessarily expected to get it.

Riddikulus is a possible big improver but more obvious form claims are held by the only previous winner in the field, ONYEISI.

BOSSOFTHEBROWNIES proved himself a force to be reckoned with in the staying division when a close third in a Grade 2 contest at Punchestown. Finishing strongly, he was just a short head behind Koktail Divin, with that one since impressing at Leopardstown over Christmas. Flicker Of Hope has been a real stable star for Mark Fahey and after finishing an encouraging third over a trip short of his optimum on his chase debut at Wexford, he proved tough when making the breakthrough at Fairyhouse. Now upped to his favoured distance, it'll come as no surprise if he manages to follow up. Getting a weight allowance on account of his age, Kurasso Blue is sure to prove popular with punters and is likely to be very much in contention.

The 7yo BOSSOFTHEBROWNIES (nap) has soon left his hurdle form behind and his close third in a Grade 2 chase last time reads well.

ALBA GU BRATH finished second to a couple of highly promising types on his previous starts and may be able to put the experience to good use to get off the mark at the third time of asking. With a mark of 71, Viking Glory sets the standard according to the official ratings, while Five Cay's figure of 68 probably isn't intimidating for connections of the selection either based on what they have all shown so far.

Beaten at odds-on last time, ALBA GU BRATH is worth another chance to confirm his debut promise. Viking Glory is second choice.

ROBBER'S BRIDGE was not beaten far at all into third at Fontwell when last seen in August and it would be no surprise to see Dan Horsford's eight-year-old make a winning return to action. Tom Taggle's latest effort at Taunton in November suggests that he could be the main threat, although Olivia Kate and Locked Down Lad should not be discounted.

A chance is taken on TOM TAGGLE who ran quite well in a race not run to suit last time and Exeter is a track that could suit him well.

Willie Mullins' representatives come into the race on the back of disappointing efforts. The choice of Paul Townend, Karamoja appears the pick of the trio, with this French import placed at the highest level over flights last season. Not given a hard time of it when her chance was gone at Fairyhouse before Christmas, she blundered at the last and is likely to step forward from that comeback effort. For a selection, THE GREAT NUDIE gets the nod. A point-to-point winner, she was a good third in a Listed mares' hurdle at Punchestown in November and a reproduction of that performance might be good enough. A faller when favourite at Tipperary in July, four-time winner Gaoth Chuil warrants the utmost respect.

If a heavy fall in July hasn't left mental scars, then the top-rated over hurdles, GAOTH CHUIL, should get her deserved chasing success

PRAIRIE GIRL may be able to gain her revenge having lost a race in the stewards' room to Buddy Batt here last month. The Danny Murphy-trained filly ran around a bit in front in windy conditions and, to be fair, it looked an obvious decision to reverse the placings after she hampered her rival and only scored by a head at the line. She is a couple of pounds better off and is a progressive filly. Woolridge has a nice turnaround at the weights with Lunigiana for a half-length defeat in a maiden here back in November and is another to consider now trying handicap company.

WOOLRIDGE is 13lb better off with Lunigiana on their November C&D maiden clash and improvement is expected on his handicap debut

Electric Avenue (faded to fifth) helped tee things up nicely for ENOLA GREY when they clashed at Wolverhampton last month and it would be surprising if the latter cannot cement her authority, despite a 6lb rise for that comfortable success. Fellow last-time-out winner Great Mates could be a big danger after cosily breaking through at the same venue in a novice event. A rating of 76 looks workable for her handicap debut.

One of three JP McManus representatives in the line-up and the choice of Mark Walsh, MCLAUREY should be good enough to take this. Successful over flights at the Dublin Racing Festival last season, he has shown enough in recent starts to suggest a win in this company is well within his range. Navan winner Battle Of Ridgeway will be well fancied to follow up, while Rockbrook is turned out again quickly after making virtually all at Tramore on New Year's Day. After an early mistake, Golden Joy was never involved at Leopardstown over Christmas and it'll be interesting to see if first-time blinkers have the desired effect.

The Churchill gelding didn't seem to quite see out the two miles here three weeks ago, having won over this distance on his previous two visits. He still ran well last time when third to Boxing Great and remains on the same mark. Benavente comes here on a hat-trick. He stayed on well to win over the extended 10 furlongs last time and going back up in trip may help. Pavilion End ran well at a big price on his return to the level here in late October and is another to consider.

Fifth on his last couple of starts, Bossy Parker is the pick of the remainder.

The vote goes to ELETTARIA who was 2-2 in similar events over C&D last year.

I'm Wide Awake sets the form standard but he could be vulnerable to some interesting newcomers in this field. LE COLD GREY cost 95,000 euros and is a half-brother to the high-class Gaillard Du Mesnil. With that in mind, the five-year-old gets the nod, while Blackswan D'oroux was purchased for 155,000 euros and is another related to some smart performers.

This might be a decent bumper. BLACKSWAN D'OROUX is related to some smart horses and he was an expensive 3yo.

CARGIN BHUI was backed as if defeat was out of the question over C&D last week and only just failed to justify the support. He is turned out again before his 2lb rise comes into effect and he can take full advantage. Amerjeet is 1lb well-in following a couple of half-length defeats over 5f either side of Christmas here. He does need to prove he truly sees out the extra furlong, though. Gustav Graves and Waistcoat are just two more to consider in a tight little sprint.

This looks a good chance for CARGIN BHUI to atone for last week's C&D second, in a race in which he bumped into a handicap blot.

The No Nay Never colt was placed behind Golden Trigger in a solid-looking maiden over 7f and stepping up slightly in trip may help. Flanker Jet looked to bump into a useful newcomer in Velarose here in late November. That was a decent effort on his return from a break and he's entitled to be a big player again. Well-bred newcomer Mount Eden is one to note in the market.

He has only been doing just enough so the rise may not stop him from completing the hat-trick. Court Of Session and Invincible Melody both filled the runner-up berth at Southwell last weekend and are in the mix for more prize money. Haziym returned to form at Kempton, and Addarella is in with a shout too.

The No Nay Never filly was a promising fourth on her debut here in late October before going down by half a length to Prevalence nine days later. That form has been boosted with the third winning since. Glitter And Glory has been placed on her last two visits and sets the standard with her rating of 74. Arrietty was runner-up on a visit to Wolverhampton in October and is another for the shortlist. There are some interesting newcomers to note, including the Amo Racing filly Blanc De Blanc and Juddmonte's Eclat.

Kullazain had Coachello and Many A Star back in third and fourth when showing the benefit of a gelding operation over C&D. He has a 5lb penalty to contend with, whereas Justcallmepete is 3lb higher after completing a three-timer at Chelmsford. The latter has improved since being pipped by EMINENCY at Windsor back in the autumn, but so has the winner and Stuart Williams' grey is fancied to capitalise on being able to compete off the same mark as when just denied at Southwell last week. Keep Carbine Harvester in mind too.

Boyne Valley ran well when a place ahead of Man Is King and is another to consider.

Gemmari strolled home by six and a half lengths over 1m6f at Chelmsford last week, while Francesco Baracca warrants serious consideration after impressing over the same trip here 10 days ago.

GEORG ZHUKOV has been knocking on the door and may be able to make a winning start for new connections. The Smooth Daddy gelding ran well when runner-up over C&D and remains on the same mark. Hale Bopp was narrowly denied off this rating here in late November and ran a solid race when fourth off a couple of pounds higher last time. He looks an obvious contender. Three-time C&D winner Rock Etoile is another to consider.

The most alluring option is BELA SONATA, who has won two of her four previous starts and could have more to offer. Keeping the daughter of Sergei Prokofiev in training suggests connections mean business with the low-mileage four-year-old, who won when fresh last summer and has previous course experience. Shiplake and Bell Shot proved their worth with last-time out wins, although the latter has a 4lb penalty and top weight to contend with. Little Empire and Mythical Composer are others of interest in a competitive affair.

Dosman is interesting at the likely odds but BELA SONATA, the least exposed runner in the field, looked good when last seen.

CLONMACASH ran well for fourth here three weeks ago when attracting market support. The Charming Thought gelding stayed on behind Nikki Swango in a competitive contest and a similar run may be enough to collect now. Denis Hogan saddles three and the ex-Ballydoyle horse Alfred Tennyson is interesting on his first start for the yard. He won a Limerick maiden back in June and remains relatively unexposed. Heart Of Eternity is another addition for Hogan, having been bought from Godolphin. She showed promise in three starts for Charlie Appleby last summer.

A slow starter here last time, C&D winner OICHE RUA could be hard to beat if avoiding a recurrence.

Vince Lombardi has a more recent success (6f) to his name and going back up in distance might be a source of improvement. However, slender preference is for the less-exposed STAR OF MALI, a 7f winner on his penultimate start. He'll be a big player if he keeps his keenness under control. The penalised Revolutionise completes the shortlist.

It's a competitive race but STAR OF MALI should have more to offer after just three runs at the trip. Bill Plumb is next best.

DIAMOND EXCHANGE should be up to winning an all-weather maiden at this time of year. The Wootton Bassett filly had some strong turf maiden form last year, the best of which was when chasing home Butterfly Wings at Leopardstown in May. She was a solid third behind In My Teens when last seen at Down Royal in June and, despite her absence, looks the one to beat. Killyclogher Rose ran well at a big price when third to Square Necker here last month. She is an obvious danger and appears to hold Palmezzano, who finished fourth then.

Ian Williams' gelding has won four of his last five starts, filling second place on the other occasion, and the progressive six-year-old may be capable of defying a 5lb penalty for his latest victory. Advancing is another recent winner who has to be high on the shortlist as he remains unexposed. Phone Tag, Urban Road and My Fermoy are others to note.
