LEADER D'ALLIER won five bumpers in France and was sent off a warm favourite on his hurdle debut at the Leopardstown Christmas meeting when beating all bar Ballyfad with Straight John over four lengths behind in sixth. The Willie Mullins-trained gelding should benefit from that experience and can go one better. The latter was making his racecourse debut on that occasion and is entitled to improve from that display. Maxfort made a pleasing start to his career when placed behind the selection's stablemate The Reverend at Cork earlier this month, while point-to-point winner Cloudio was second in a strong Cork bumper last spring and is an interesting recruit to hurdles.

LEADER D'ALLIER was a three-time French bumper winner and can gain his first win on Irish soil following a second on hurdles debut

Keep an eye on Alan Bresil now connections try their gelding in first-time cheekpieces, but CATCH ON ME is the one to beat. Despite a pretty quiet season by Venetia Williams' standards, her gelding won't get many better opportunities than this and it was a lot better last time out in a Uttoxeter handicap. Quay Item is another to take seriously.

6yo CATCH ON ME shaped with definite promise on last month's reappearance and looks the one to beat with that run behind him.

LTO Selection:hiden content, hiden content, hiden content, hiden content

The familiar colours of Simon Munir and Isaac Souede are doubly represented here and riding arrangements suggest BIBE MUS is preferred of the pair. The Camelot gelding beat Crooked Path in a Gowran maiden in October and has been placed on both outings since, including when runner-up to Lord in an Aintree Listed race. This represents a drop in class and he gets the vote over Kibris, who won a Curragh maiden on debut as a juvenile but is without a win in three outings over hurdles. Kasper Hauser has plenty of jumping experience and is weighted to reverse previous Cork places with Crooked Path.

KASPER HAUSER wasn't beaten that far on handicap debut over 19.5f here two weeks ago and this shorter trip should suit

AMBIENTE FRIENDLY finished runner-up in the 2024 Derby and must have a big chance here if punters can look past one lacklustre effort in a Huntingdon handicap last time. Before that, he won in this company on soft ground and the second has recently franked the form by winning impressively at Lingfield. He makes more appeal than Looping D'arc and Reteti.

Looping d'Arc is feared, but marginal preference is for AMBIENTE FRIENDLY who is a key player back in novice company.

Just 1lb separates DRACO MALFOY and Big Ticket on official ratings. The latter is favoured in receipt of 7lb but there have to be reservations given that he was pulled up latest, so Kim Bailey and Mat Nicholls' charge is fancied to come out on top. He hit the woodwork under a penalty at Doncaster but had excelled on soft ground prior and that could be crucial today. Handin Manypockets can chase the pair home.

This looks likely to develop into a match and preference is for DRACO MALFOY to return to winning ways at the expense of Big Ticket.

BLUE VELVET won a Thurles bumper last season and made a pleasing reappearance over hurdles when runner-up to better fancied stablemate Espresso Milan over 2m here last month. The winner has franked the form since and this daughter of Blue Bresil has plenty of scope for improvement. Miss Doyenne has a similar profile to the selection and looks an obvious threat. The point-to-point winner beat Torpille Dagrostis in a Cork bumper last April and was also placed on her hurdles debut last month over 2m4f at Down Royal. Shadys Lady beat Torpille Dagrostis by 10 lengths in a Naas bumper but was soundly beaten on her hurdling bow at the same venue.

There's substance to BLUE VELVET (nap)'s form and he can build on his runner-up finish behind Espresso Milan on hurdles debut to win

SUPERSTYLIN should prove tough to beat in this handicap chase. He gained the success his previous form deserved at Fontwell on Boxing Day and he's performed well at this track before. Sanitiser needs a bit more but has the form in the book to at least keep the selection honest, while Sea Thrift could be the one for third place.

Superstylin has already won twice over fences this term but it may be worth taking him on with SEA THRIFT.

FOLLOWCATO has really gotten the hang of things over fences lately, winning at Ludlow before following up in cosy fashion at Exeter. Ben Pauling's gelding is only 6lb higher and with further progress likely, he is taken to land the hat-trick. Ski Lodge continues to knock at the door and is unlikely to be far away, whilst Risk De Pluie should benefit from a return to further.

This looks to be a good opportunity for SKI LODGE (nap) to get off the mark over fences at the chief expense of Followcato.

The selection has taken well to hurdles this term notably finishing best of all when third to Koktail Brut in the Grade 2 Royal Bond at Fairyhouse. He was soundly beaten in a Grade 1 last time but will appreciate this drop in class and should be suited by the step up in trip. Doctor Du Mesnil impressed when beating Thedeviluno by 11 lengths on debut in a Cork bumper last April and was narrowly denied when switched to hurdles at Leopardstown last month. Springhill Warrior had Atlantic Gamble over 20 lengths behind when second here last time.

Good To Be Alive has been running well without getting his head in front on both starts in handicap company and a stiffer track may play to the strengths of Olly Murphy's gelding. ROYAL MER has found it difficult to get his head in front for some time now but it hasn't been for the want of trying. The son of Montmartre had the measure of Passing Kate (fifth) and Wewillgowithplanb (eighth) at Exeter. There are questions mark over the remaining pair too, so with Rian Corcaran removing a handy 7lb this looks a fine opportunity. Hors Jeu was by no means out of it when unseating at Lingfield last month and he could be the biggest threat.

The safest option here is five-time chase winner ROYAL MER who finished ahead of Passing Kate (second choice) last time.

He is fancied to build on two second-placed finishes posted in competitive events at Market Rasen and Uttoxeter last month.

The vote goes to NOWMELAD, who down fighting in a close second at Market Rasen last month and that was behind a major improver.

KOBALT ST GEORGES appeared to benefit from a summer break when scoring twice over fences at Clonmel and now reverts to hurdles off a 16lb lower mark compared to his revised chase rating. Deanery Charlie didn't show too much in maidens but was noted staying on into fourth when switched to handicap company at Fairyhouse last time, while veteran Robindevidastar has dropped down to a basement mark and showed there was still some spark when fourth behind The Little Yank at Clonmel.

KOBALT ST GEORGES is 0-8 over timber but has won his last two chase starts and should be able to exploit his 16lb lower hurdles mark

Only a tentative vote can go to GEORGES SAINT. The 10-year-old hinted at a revival when third at Warwick on New Year's Eve and is likely to go close if able to build on that performance. Minella Blueway didn't make it past the first fence at Ascot but drops in class and is appealing nonetheless, while it would be dangerous to rule out Shantou Lucky, who won over C&D as recently as November.

The recent rain will play in GEORGES SAINT's favour and there is less guesswork about him than any of his three rivals.

STATTLER, who won the National Hunt Chase at the 2022 Cheltenham Festival and runner-up in the 2023 Irish Gold Cup when at his peak for Willie Mullins, is very hard to ignore on his debut in a hunters' chase. The obvious concern is the 653-day absence since he last saw competitive action. However, given that last appearance came in the 2024 Grand National, it's safe to say this level is readily eclipsed by his usual standard. Quel Destin's form under Rules is respected and he is suggested as the biggest danger. Snipe is a logical alternative.

Providing he retains a good chunk of his ability after a long absence, STATTLER should take all the beating on his hunter chase debut.

This looks to be a weak contest but one that could show more on his handicap debut is FRANK STAMPER. Suzy Wood is the main danger.

This can go to PRINCESS KERI, who looked set to complete a hat-trick before her jockey unseated on the run-in at Fakenham last Sunday.

With many of these lacking early pace, it would be no surprise to see a bold showing from MISTER MOET. CHANTELLE impressed with a cosy winning debut over C&D just after Christmas. That impressive start is easily the best piece of form on offer and the daughter of Gleneagles looks an attractive proposition ih her bid to follow up. EUPATOR didn't have to come out of first gear when winning in emphatic fashion here on Friday and he might be hard to stop under the penalty. That said, there are a few dangers, namely unexposed five-year-old Monty Beau, who finished hot on the heels of Oman at Chelmsford latest. Rhythm N Rock went agonisingly close at Kempton and is also respected.

It may be worth taking a chance with EAGLE DAY who has slipped 9lb lower than for the latest of his four course wins.

WELLJUDGED has shown a fair amount of promise in three runs so far, including when runner-up over C&D in November, and Roger Varian's filly gets the vote to shed the maiden tag on her handicap debut. Caramay stays further but did run with plenty of credit when third here over almost a furlong further on her penultimate start and is noted along with Electric Avenue.

This can go to handicap newcomer WELLJUDGED (nap), who showed enough in three runs in the autumn to suggest she can win a race like this

KNIGHT OF MAGIC won at Southwell earlier in the month before underperforming when turned over at short odds at Chelmsford five days later. Luke Morris is reunited in the saddle and the step back up in trip promises to suit the seven-year-old. Desiderata produced his best effort for a while when runner-up here last time and a repeat of that would see him in the mix. Others to note are Prince Hector and Dancing Bay.

Preference is for KNIGHT OF MAGIC, who won at Southwell on his penultimate run and is a big player if he can recapture that form.
