BRANDY LOVE is hard to oppose here on her second outing over fences. The Grade 1 winning hurdler was turned over at a short price on her chase debut at Gowran in November when she was a bit novicey on her first attempt over the larger obstacles. Going up in trip now will help and this is a weaker race. Jumping Jet could be the one to give her most to do. The Getaway mare was a fine third to Ask Anything at Down Royal on St Stephen's Day when staying on well to the line. Henning struggled in Grade 2 company at Limerick last time but should pick up prize-money here.

Smart hurdler BRANDY LOVE was far from perfect when failing to land the odds on her chase bow at Gowran but she should learn from that and this looks a good opportunity. Jumping Jet stepped up on her chase debut when third at Down Royal and rates the main threat.

The best mare in the race is Grade 1 winning hurdler BRANDY LOVE who should improve sufficiently from her Gowran debut mto land this

(1) Through The Ages 1/4, Fair maiden on the Flat for Charlie Appleby at the start of 2023. Left form of his hurdle debut third well behind when landing a 2m Newbury juvenile (heavy) from the front just before Christmas. Should be more to come from him.
Made all to win readily by 15l at Newbury last month; should be very hard to catch here.

(3) Nachtgeist 4/1, Useful on Flat in Germany and from the family of top-class hurdler/chaser Melon. Disappointing on hurdle debut but did offer more when 9¾ lengths third of 6 at Hereford on Thursday. That form is only modest but he's still the obvious one to chase home the favourite.
Useful on the Flat in Germany and was third over hurdles at Hereford on Thursday.

Macari

(2) Macari 11/1, Modest form when mid-field in 2 bumpers in November and similar story when sixth of 7 on Sandown hurdling debut last month, not impressing with his jumping. A lot more will be needed to trouble Through The Ages.

THROUGH THE AGES justified strong market support when bolting up at Newbury last month and it is hard to look past him today, despite the penalty. Nachtgeist finished a solid third at Hereford three days ago and would perhaps be the main danger should he be turned out quickly, while Macari, whose hurdling bow wasn't devoid of promise, appeals most of the remainder.

This looks an excellent opportunity for THROUGH THE AGES to add to last month's Newbury success. Nachtgeist showed some aptitude for hurdling at Hereford the other day and can follow Gary Moore's charge home.

It's hard to get away from THROUGH THE AGES, who dominated from the front and won by a wide margin at Newbury last month.

(2) Mister Policeman 4/6, Smart ex-French hurdler who impressed when landing Cork novice hurdle in April who marked himself down as an exciting prospect when narrowly defeating stablemate on chase debut at Fairyhouse in November. Big player with prospect of plenty more to come.
Looks capable of considerable improvement from Fairyhouse and looks the one to beat here.

LTO Selection:

13:00 Naas Novices Chase 16f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

MISTER POLICEMAN wasn't overly impressive on his chase debut at Fairyhouse in late November but he is obviously well regarded and should improve from that initial effort over fences. The Triple Treat gelding got under the second last then and had to work to pick up stablemate Feu Du Bresil late on. He did show some gears to get the job done to be fair to him and this is a nice stepping stone now. Quilixios takes a drop in trip now having weakened tamely over three miles in Grade 2 company at Punchestown last time. The former Triumph Hurdle winner has the class to be a big player dropping in grade. Sa Fureur was a fortunate winner at Fairyhouse last month but is a decent sort and should be in the money here.

Displaying smart form on his sole start over hurdles for Willie Mullins, MISTER POLICEMAN overcame a scare when scoring narrowly on chase debut at Fairyhouse 44 days ago and, with the prospect of plenty more to come from the 6-y-o, he can land this with bigger targets lying in wait. Sa Fureur and Quilixios can emerge as the lead threats.

The one to be on should be MISTER POLICEMAN, unbeaten in two Irish starts and capable of much better than his Fairyhouse chase debut

(5) Oxygen (9/4 +32%)
Oxygen

9/4(+32%)
(5) Oxygen 9/4, Hurdle winner in France in 2021. Made a low-key start for this yard over hurdles last winter but different proposition over fences this time round, winning handicaps at Lingfield and over C&D. A 6 lb rise is unlikely to prevent him making a bold bid for the hat-trick.
2-2 in British chases, the latter win over C&D last month; probably has more to offer.
(3) Scarface (9/2 +40%)
Scarface

9/2(+40%)
(3) Scarface 9/2, Recorded a brace of small-field novice hurdle victories last season. Best effort over fences this term when 7¾ lengths third of 7 to Oxygen over C&D 3 weeks ago but an 8 lb swing in the weights doesn't look enough for him to turn the tables. Cheekpieces added.
Yet fully to convince over fences but kept on for third over C&D last month; headgear on.

(1) Authorised Speed 11/8, Useful hurdler who would surely have made a winning start over fences but for departing 2 out at Ascot (17f) 16 days ago, yet to be asked for maximum effort. Well worth another chance.

Grade 2 novice hurdle winner; Irish point form bodes well for his chasing prospects.

(4) Red Windsor 14/1, Fairly useful winner over hurdles. Distant last of 4 on his chase debut/reappearance but more like it at second time of asking over fences when 9 lengths second of 5 over 2m here 48 days ago. Return to this longer trip should suit him,
Well beaten on chasing debut but subsequent second of five here was much more encouraging.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Oxygen arrives in search of his hat-trick having won over C&D last month but, though he merits respect, preference is for AUTHORISED SPEED. Gary Moore's charge was going best when coming to grief at the second-last on his fencing bow and the talented seven-year-old can make amends today. Scarface (third) is 8lb better off with Oxygen for their recent clash and should not be underestimated either.

An interesting novice handicap chase. AUTHORISED SPEED looked all set to make a successful start to his chase career when tipping up at the second last at Ascot last month and is taken to gain compensation and deny Oxygen the hat-trick.

Authorised Speed is respected but slight preference is for C&D winner OXYGEN, who is 2-2 over fences in Britain.

13:30 Naas Handicap Chase 16f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

SNAKE OIL ran well on his first start in handicap company over fences when third at Leopardstown and can strike now. The Westerner gelding was beaten four lengths by The Folkes Tiara in a competitive event and is only a pound higher. Bythesametoken is a very consistent performer and is an obvious danger. The Fame And Glory gelding lost out by half a length at Haydock just before Christmas and is sure to be thereabouts again. Union Park is another coming here in fine form, having won over timber at Cork in late November, and he also has to be on the shortlist.

Plenty to consider but INVICTUS MACHIN looks to have been brought along over fences with handicaps in mind so he could well find the required improvement. Union Park and Snake Oil head the dangers.

Barry Connell has been patient with SNAKE OIL who may have derived enough benefit from his handicap debut to step up two places.

13:45 Plumpton Novices Hurdle (Class 3) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

The vote goes to CLASSIC ANTHEM, who was on target in a handicap at Sandown last month. Back in a novices' hurdle on his second start following wind surgery, there should be more to come from Jim Boyle's charge and he may prove tough to beat. Both Rock Danse and West Warhorse were victorious last time so they must feature prominently in calculations, along with Walks Like The Man, who hit the frame over 2m here 20 days ago.

CLASSIC ANTHEM won a competitive 2m novice handicap at Sandown last time and could have more to offer now stepping up to 2½m so he's taken to defy the penalty. Fellow last-time-out winners Rock Danse and West Warhorse may give him most to do.

2m Sandown handicap winner CLASSIC ANTHEM has the most compelling form and there's a good chance he can progress again over 2m4f.

14:00 Naas Novices Hurdle 20f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

FIREFOX was impressive when taking his maiden hurdle at Fairyhouse last month and that form has received a nice boost since. He quickened away in some style to beat Ballyburn then and that rival was a very easy winner at Leopardstown over Christmas. Going two-and-a-half miles now should be no worry for Firefix, who was a big eye-catcher on his debut run over this trip at Navan in November 2022. The selection faces a fascinating rematch with Ile Atlantique, who he beat in a Fairyhouse bumper last April. Willie Mullins' charge travelled best early in the straight then before being worn down by his rival in the closing stages. The Coastal Path gelding had also done the same thing in his previous bumper and it will be interesting to see what he finds for pressure now in better company over hurdles. Mullins saddles five of the eight runners. Mystical Power, the regally-bred son of Galileo and Annie Power, faces an acid test having won twice last summer and it will be interesting to see how he measures up.

A Grade 1 novice unsurprisingly packed full of potential. FIREFOX, a useful 3-time winner in bumpers, marked himself down as one more than capable of making his mark at this level when successful on hurdles bow at Fairyhouse 5 weeks ago and shades the vote. The regally bred Mystical Power was a taking winner at Galway last summer and promises to do even better, with his stablemate Ile Atlantique another worth considering in a race very much to note.

Gordon Ellott's FIREFOX can take this for by upholding bumper form with Ile Atlantique, best of the Willie Mullins-trained squad

(7) Ramo 2/1, Progressive since upped to staying trips and having resumed winning ways on return at Ludlow in November, he quickly dispelled a lesser effort when runner-up at Carlisle (25f) 3 weeks ago. Remains of interest from this sort of mark.
Three wins in 2023 (one over C&D); not yet fully exposed but needs a career best.
(3) Eldorado Allen (7/2 -40%)
Eldorado Allen

7/2(-40%)
(3) Eldorado Allen 7/2, Very smart chaser who arrives having run a cracker when fourth in last month's Coral Gold Cup at Newbury, staying on gradually from 4 out. Much lower hurdles mark to explore here and his rider takes off a handy 5 lb. Well worth a second look.
Placed in two hot handicap chases this season; back hurdling off lower mark; interesting.
(5) Hititi (7/2 +22%)
Hititi

7/2(+22%)
(5) Hititi 7/2, Ended last season on a high, completing a hat-trick at up to 3m and better for reappearance effort when edged out late on at Sandown (23.5f) 4 weeks ago (On The Blind Side placed third). That may not prove his limit at staying trips and he's respected.
Progressive 7yo; comes here after running very well in defeat at Sandown last month.
(8) Transmission (9/2 -13%)
Transmission

9/2(-13%)
(8) Transmission 9/2, Low-mileage 7-y-o who cemented positive start for new stable when good third on handicap debut at Ascot (23.5f) 2 weeks ago, coming from much further back than pair that beat him. That rates strong form for the grade and he's worth a look at the foot of the weights.
Placed on both starts for current stable; might fare better now back on soft ground.
(4) On The Blind Side (14/1 -75%)
On The Blind Side

14/1(-75%)
(4) On The Blind Side 14/1, One-time smart hurdler who cashed in from a career-low mark at Newbury (3m) in March. Ended his campaign with a poor run at Cheltenham in April but showed he retains plenty of ability when third in 8-runner handicap at Sandown 4 weeks ago.

Call Me Lord

(1) Call Me Lord 16/1, Made a winning return last term and repeated the feat this time around, albeit looking flattered as the pace collapsed when beating 4-rivals at Hereford (19.7f) 3 weeks ago, leading after the last and driven out. Rider takes off handy 5 lb but this likely to prove tougher.
Kept on stoutly from unpromising position to win over 2m3f last time; back up in trip here.

Annual Invictus

20/1(-122%)

Finished midfield in competitive handicap chase contests after and record fresh a plus ahead of this return to timber.
Not seen since respectable sixth in major handicap chase last April; on fairly tough mark.
(6) Mario De Pail (28/1 -27%)
Mario De Pail

28/1(-27%)
(6) Mario De Pail 28/1, Fairly useful but error-prone maiden handicap chaser who was weak in the betting and ran poorly when pulled up back over hurdles at Chepstow (23.6f) over Christmas. Tongue tie added to cheekpieces now.
Ran okay in two autumn chases but pulled up over hurdles 11 days ago; others look safer.
LTO Selection:

14:15 Plumpton Handicap Hurdle (Class 2) 25f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

In what is likely to be a thorough test of stamina, HITITI is preferred following a strong runner-up effort on heavy ground at Sandown last month. A progressive handicapper last season, Mark Walford's charge can bounce back to winning ways at the main expense of recent Hereford winner Call Me Lord and Eldorado Allen, who has been running with credit over fences of late and is attractively-handicapped over the smaller obstacles. On The Blind Side and Ramo cannot be ruled out either.

Established as a smart chaser, ELDORADO ALLEN ran another sound race when fourth in last month's Coral Gold Cup and, operating from his much lower mark in this sphere, with his rider taking off a handy 5 lb, he could be worth siding with to get back on the winning trail. Transmission and Ramo are a pair of low-mileage stayers going the right way and are feared, as is Hititi, who is another well in the mix.

This can go to improving 7yo HITITI (nap), who was nicely clear of On The Blind Side when second to a progressive rival last month.

LTO Selection:

14:35 Naas Maiden Hurdle 16f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

TULLYHILL can atone for his short price defeat on his hurdling debut. The Martaline gelding was runner-up to A Dream To Share in the Grade 1 bumper at Punchestown and went to post a 1/8 shot on his first outing over timber at Punchestown in late November. He weakened tamely before the last then when beaten a long way by Shannon Royale. A lot of the yard's runner were improving for an outing at that time and he should leave the run behind. Point-to-point winner Undeniable Alibi was turned over at a short price in a Fairyhouse bumper last month. He may improve for going hurdling now and could get closer. Stoneyford Lady, a half-sister to Captain Guinness, is an interesting newcomer for Henry de Bromhead and market support would be significant.

TULLYHILL was turned over at prohibitive odds first time over hurdles but he was classy in bumpers and is fully expected to go one better here. Stoneyford makes plenty of appeal on pedigree and Undeniable Alibi, although underwhelming on Rules debut, is one to be interested in based on point form.

A talented bumper horse last season, TULLYHILL can atone for his unexpected defeat on hurdling debut at Punchestown.

LTO Selection:

14:50 Plumpton Handicap Chase (Class 3) 28f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

An eye-catcher when staying on late in a Listed chase at Newbury last time, ROSE OF ARCADIA should be well suited by going up to this marathon trip. The relatively unexposed nine-year-old is narrowly preferred to easy Exeter scorer Foxboro and Tommie Beau, who has won Nationals on his last two starts and comes here off a career-high mark. A taking winner on just his second start in this sphere, Sporting Ace is another key player, along with Gold Clermont.

FOXBORO proved better than ever when winning at Exeter last month, the step up to a marathon trip the making of him, and he can defy a 5 lb rise with more to come over long distances. Dom of Mary and Rose of Arcadia both look on fair marks back down in class so head the dangers.

David Bridgwater's DOM OF MARY is tempting after running so well in what was a quality staying handicap chase at Cheltenham.

BLENHEIM BELLE ran well in a competitive event at Punchestown last time and looks capable of winning again off her current mark. The Churchill mare stayed on into third behind the in-form Hunting Brook then and off just a couple of pounds higher she should be capable of another big show. Butty O Brien was a game winner at Navan three weeks ago and could be a danger off just a 4lb higher mark. Crafty Gael was knocking on the door during the summer but this testing ground would be a slight concern.

Lots with chances. CIRCUS ACT comes here on the back of a very good Dundalk second on the Flat so is taken to capitalise on a lenient mark now back in this sphere. American Money is also weighted to have a say and heads the list of dangers, although a solid case can be made for the likes of Butty O Brien, Junot, Pride of Place and Blenheim Belle who all need factoring into this highly competitive handicap.

A sporting selection goes the way of CIRCUS ACT, who returned to form in a Flat handicap at Dundalk in November and is tried in blinkers

They was plenty of encouragement to be taken from FLAMELCO's first completed start over fences when a staying-on third over 2m at Lingfield in late-November. This stiffer test of stamina should see him in a better light and Gary Moore's inmate edges the vote over Baddesley. The nine-year-old's stamina looked stretched by the extended 3m distance when third over hurdles at Kempton last time and he isn't taken likely on this switch to fences. Morfee and Icaque De L'isle cannot be dismissed either.

FLAMELCO took a big step back in the right direction for Gary Moore when third at Lingfield last time out and with this return to further looking a big plus too he can capitalise on an attractive mark. Icaque de L'Isle is feared most on the back of his good Fakenham second, although it would come as no surprise if Grizzly James bounced back to form and played a part too. Shaw's Cross completes the shortlist.

An open handicap may go to ICAQUE DE L'ISLE who made a positive return at Fakenham on ground which was quicker than ideal for him.

Patrick Mullins rode a winner for Tom Cooper in these colours last year when D Art D Art won a four-year-old bumper at Gowran Park and he is an eye-catching booking for SHUTTLE DIPLOMACY. The French-bred gelding is a son of German Group 1 winner Dschingis Secret and his dam is a half-sister to French Group 1 winner Tac De Boistron. Gordon Elliott saddles Kelley Kapowski, a daughter of Elusive Pimpernel, and she commands respect. She is a half-sister to Swedish Listed winner Elusive Time. Richard O'Brien does well with his bumper horses and won this a couple of years ago with Impulsive Dancer. Money for Frogman, an Ol' Man River gelding, would be noteworthy.

KELLEY KAPOWSKI is related to a few Flat winners and represents a top stable, so she's the one to side with without the benefit of market clues. Shuttle Diplomacy is one to note with Patrick Mullins on board and Balovale is of interest on pedigree.

No more than a sporting selection goes to PAUDIE'S WINGS from a stable that usually lines one up for this race with some success

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

BUCEPHALUS posted a respectable third on his return to hurdling at Kempton in November and a similar effort may suffice in this open affair. Colours On Canvas landed a novice hurdle at Lingfield last time with something in hand and an opening mark of 114 looks workable. The five-year-old may emerge as the chief threat to the selection, ahead of Sun Joy, who wasn't disgraced in a deeper event at Sandown last month.

SALIGO BAY had plenty in hand when landing a seller over C&D last time and he's fairly treated back in handicap company, so he's preferred to One Last Glance who made a positive return from a long absence at Lingfield recently. Bucephalus is also considered.

Handicap debutant COLOURS ON CANVAS is by far and away the least exposed of these and could be too well treated for the rest.

SHAHEEN SAQAAR was an impressive C&D winner eight days ago and Ed Dunlop's gelding commands plenty of respect on the back of that performance, despite a 6lb rise in the ratings. Russian Virtue merits consideration on his return to the Flat after scoring over hurdles last month, while Tio Mio and Verona Star are others to consider in a wide-open event.

RUSSIAN VIRTUE has proved better than ever over hurdles of late, battling well when making it 3 wins from his last 4 starts at Carlisle in December, and he can score again from a workable mark back on the level. The main danger could be Shaheen Saqaar, who opened his account in good style at this C&D last time, with Verona Star another to note.

Plenty have each-way interest but SHAHEEN SAQAAR appeals most, with scope for further improvement following his recent breakthrough win.

DREAM OF HOPE took a big step forward from her debut when a close third at Lingfield last time and she could be hard to beat if finding further progression. Windcrack displayed plenty of promise when making the frame on her racecourse bow last month and the daughter of Cracksman is an obvious threat to the selection. College Choir is a noteworthy newcomer along with Hail The Flag.

DREAM OF HOPE was very green on her debut at Newmarket in September and duly left that well behind when third at Lingfield the following month. She remains with potential and should be well up to winning an ordinary novice such as this. Windcrack did well to make a place after a very slow start at Lingfield and is next best ahead of Ville Natale, who shaped as if this stiffer test will suit at Chelmsford.

After hitting a flat spot, DREAM OF HOPE was a strong finisher at Lingfield and can improve for this flatter track and longer trip.

LTO Selection:

18:00 Wolverhampton Handicap (Class 5) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

ARTISAN DANCER has been running consistently well in defeat of late and the step back up to 2m could see him return to winning ways. That said, Savvy Brilliance arrives here seeking a hat-trick and he merits the utmost respect as a result, while the recent Southwell winner Caldwell edges out C'mon Kenny and Award Dancer to be best of the rest.

A good contest for the grade, with the rapidly-improving SAVVY BRILLIANCE fancied to complete the hat-trick having bolted up at Southwell last month. Caldwell resumed winning ways last month and is still well treated on his best form, so also ranks high on the shortlist, with Award Dancer and Artisan Dancer others to consider.

Most could be in with a decent shout. SAVVY BRILLIANCE is selected to complete the hat-trick now that he is upped in trip again.

Sole AW win (25 races) was in 2019; he does not look the best handicapped in this sphere.
LTO Selection:

18:30 Wolverhampton Handicap (Class 4) 9f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

BASS PLAYER (second) was defeated by Ernie's Valentine when the pair met over C&D last month, but the former, who has been operating from a reduced mark in recent starts, can reverse that form on today's revised terms. Cosmos Raj struck at Newcastle 10 days ago and must be respected from just 3lb higher, while others to note include Summa Peto and True Statesman.

Plenty with chances but ERNIE'S VALENTINE has made a really positive start to life with David Loughnane and is fancied to make light of a 2 lb rise for his recent C&D success having overcome a pace bias there. Summa Peto also started out well for a new yard when a C&D fifth last time and is feared most with improvement anticipated ahead of Titan Rock, who could benefit from this step up in trip.

This looks tight. Plenty bring recent recommendations but SUMMA PETO features off a tempting mark on his second run for Mick Appleby.

19:00 Wolverhampton Handicap (Class 4) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

SMOKY MOUNTAIN met trouble at various points on last month's handicap debut, so it was to his credit that the son of Frankel only went down by a neck. The unexposed four-year-old was only raised 1lb for that effort and this looks a decent opportunity for him to go one better. Rock Opera struck over 6f here in November and must be respected upped in trip, while Society Lion appeals most of the remainder.

SMOKY MOUNTAIN arrives easily one of the least exposed and marked himself down as one to be interested in from this sort of mark when runner-up on his handicap debut over C&D 16 days ago, headway when not clear run entering straight and running on. He gets the vote to confirm the promise of that run, with Jahidin, equipped with first-time cheekpieces and Alethiometer heading the dangers. Al Marmar is another to keep an eye on.

The unexposed 4yo SMOKY MOUNTAIN (nap) went very close over C&D on his handicap debut and there can be optimism he's capable of better.

19:30 Wolverhampton Handicap (Class 3) 5f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

There has been no stopping DIOMED SPIRIT, who arrives having completed his hat-trick at Chelmsford last month. A further 4lb rise might not be enough to stop Stuart Williams' in-form gelding, although Strong Johnson should give him plenty to think about. Moon Flight bolted up in a C&D novice event in November and he might have more to offer now switched to handicaps.

Stuart Williams looks to hold a strong hand here and his thriving 4-y-o DIOMED SPIRIT is taken to edge out handily-weighted stablemate Conquistador and complete a fine four-timer. Strong Johnson is another weighted to have a say, while Zarzyni and in-form Moon Flight need factoring in too.

The thriving 4yo DIOMED SPIRIT had more in hand than the neck winning margin suggests at Chelmsford and he can land the four-timer.

The Rod Millman stable can do little wrong at present and this looks like an ideal opportunity for MISS MOONSHINE to follow up after a taking success at Lingfield recently. A 5lb penalty will make life tougher, but she should have too much for Voltaic and My Boy Jack, who was runner-up over C&D on his penultimate outing. He's An Angel and Therehegoes are capable of being in the shake-up too.

MISS MOONSHINE might be up to defying a penalty for in-form Rod Millman. Jumira Bridge has been better than the result on both outings since his Chelmsford win in October and heads the dangers along with Doves of Peace and the returning Therehegoes.

Rod Millman's stable is in tremendous form and MISS MOONSHINE can defy a 5lb penalty for her win at Lingfield on New Year's Eve.

20:30 Wolverhampton Handicap (Class 6) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

DELLA MARE didn't get the clearest of runs on her return from a 199-day break over C&D last month, and she is better judged on the form of her penultimate second here last May. The booking of Hollie Doyle catches the eye and she is narrowly preferred to White Mist (first) and Sisters In The Sky (second), who were separated by just half a length over C&D recently.

WHITE MIST clicked in a first-time visor over C&D last time, beating Sisters In The Sky (who has run since), and that pair make most appeal here. Della Mare is another one to consider dropping in grade.

Hollie Doyle's mount DELLA MARE is handicapped to have a big say on last spring's form and she can improve for last month's comeback.
