FINAL DEMAND is going to be a short price here and looks hard to oppose. The Walk In The Park gelding met with his only defeat when a fine third to The New Lion at Cheltenham last March and has been very impressive in his two outings over fences, including in Grade 1 company at Limerick last time. The experienced Western Fold could be the one to give him most to do. The Galway Plate winner was a solid third to Envoi Allen when last seen at Down Royal in November and is rated only 1lb below the selection. Kaid D'authie won well at Fairyhouse last time and should reach the frame.

It is difficult to oppose the impressive FINAL DEMAND, who has only been beaten once and has been faultless in two easy chase wins

CINQUENTA has posted two creditable close-up seconds at Lingfield this season and compensation could be on the horizon. The Cokoriko gelding should appreciate this step up in distance and shades the verdict over Gee Force Flyer. Olly Murphy's charge has also been knocking on the door and is likely to be in the thick of the action, while Seamoon Story is considered easing in class.

The vote goes to GEE FORCE FLYER, who launched his hurdling career with two good efforts at Ffos Las in the autumn.

Go West's Doncaster second was boosted by the winner following up at Cheltenham's Trials Day last week but Paul Nicholls' gelding needs to bounce back from a disappointing effort at Kempton. Therefore, the vote goes to DEDICATED HERO. A Grade 2 winner over hurdles at Haydock last January, he made a promising start over fences when runner-up at Ayr last month and is entitled to build on that display. Intense Approach is clearly better than what he showed at Cheltenham in October and this run would qualify him for the Jack Richards at the Cheltenham Festival.

The bare form of his promising Ayr effort suggests that DEDICATED HERO is very well treated. Queens Gamble is second pick.

TALK THE TALK can grab some Grade 1 compensation here. The Born To Sea gelding looked set to collect at the top level here over Christmas before crashing out at the final flight. That form received a boost recently with the fifth horse, The Passing Wife, winning very impressively at Punchestown. Ballyfad was a bit of a revelation on his hurdling debut at Christmas and the runner-up Leader D'allier has also won in style recently. He looks like an obvious danger. Following the same theme, King Rasko Grey had his form boosted when Shuttle Diplomacy won at Naas last weekend and he also has to be on the shortlist.

The Evan Williams yard have started to hit some form, so Frankie Faulkner must enter the reckoning having filled the runner-up spot on his last two outings. The nine-year-old is unlikely to be far away, but he may have to play second fiddle once more, with TRY THE MONEY a touch more attractive. Henry Oliver's charge is also trying to break a run of seconds, but his latest effort behind a subsequent winner at Uttoxeter reads well. Grandad's Cap is the pick of the remainder.

KOUKEO won well on his chasing bow at Windsor on New Year's Day and handled an 8lb rise when backing up at Haydock. The six-year-old is expected to have more to offer in this discipline and remains on a workable mark after a 6lb rise. Pure Carbon is worth another chance after unseating early on at Ludlow in November having won at Huntingdon the time before. Aeros Luck heads the remainder.

The ground could be a deciding factor here and MAJBOROUGH should have no problems with testing conditions. He remains a work in progress over fences but jumped reasonably well here over Christmas. He didn't settle very well, though, and will need to switch off a bit better in the conditions. Marine Nationale ran a remarkable race in the aforementioned after almost losing Sean Flanagan at the second fence. The going would be a concern for him though. Solness is a tough nut and is sure to make it a test again. He has won on soft in the past but most of his best form is on a better surface.

WATERFORD WHISPERS has always threatened to land a prize of this nature and remains unexposed over fences. Runner-up in the 2024 Martin Pipe at the Cheltenham Festival, Henry De Bromhead's gelding ran no sort of race at Punchestown in November but is entitled to bounce back from that effort. Ile Atlantique finished second to Heart Wood at Tramore on New Year's Day and commands plenty of respect. Kinturk Kananisi is closely enough matched on Paddy Power Chase form with O'moore Park and Buachaillbocht, while Ballybawn Belter is 7lb higher than when scoring at Limerick.

KINTURK KALANISI was third in the Paddy Power on his seasonal debut and can go two better with this softer ground in his favour.

Kayce Dutton made the most of a fierce pace when cutting through the field to score over C&D last time and needs considering, but IMPATIENT's Huntingdon victory in December was arguably more impressive. As long as the eight-year-old is in similar form, he will prove tough to beat. Smurfette ran better than her odds suggested when second at Uttoxeter on New Year's Eve and isn't ruled out either.

The suggestion is SMURFETTE (nap), who posted a career-best performance when close second to a progressive rival in December.

Although he could only finish eighth in the Welsh National, ROCK MY WAY is likely to prove far more competitive on this drop in class. Joe Tizzard's charge had previously romped home at this level at Ascot and there are still some good days to be had. Borders National hero Grozni isn't taken lightly given his current vein of form and a 5lb higher mark shouldn't prevent another bold bid, while Transmission is interesting in a first-time visor.

Topweight ROCK MY WAY may bounce back from the Welsh National. Grozni, Magna Sam and Forged Well look the chief dangers.

Lossiemouth and Brighterdaysahead lock horns once again after their encounter in the December Hurdle where Willie Mullins' mare came out on top. That said, the latter had missed some intended targets, when expected to be sent over fences earlier in the campaign, and it wouldn't be a huge surprise if she were able to reverse those placings. A chance, though, is taken with EL FABIOLO. Twice a winner at this meeting over fences, his jumping had fallen apart in that sphere, with three falls from his last four chase starts, but the nine-year-old returned with a confidence-boosting display at Punchestown on New Year's Eve and appears to still retain all of his ability judged on that display.

With the December Hurdle run under her belt, BRIGHTERDAYSAHEAD has a realistic chance of turning the tables on Lossiemouth

ABBEY LAW got off the mark over 2m at Fakenham last April prior to finishing a disappointing fourth over an extended 2m5f at Fontwell. There were excuses reported post-race that day and an opening mark of 91 might prove to be lenient. Mr Zee went in by three lengths at this level at Wincanton and is respected, despite having a 5lb higher rating to contend with. No Guarantee completes the shortlist.

This might go to MODEL APPROACH, who could be given a significant boost by the refitted headgear today.

DOUBLE POWERFUL is a smart handicap hurdler and got back on track following a mediocre stint over fences and a mishap at Cheltenham when finishing second in the Lanzarote at Kempton last time. On that evidence, he's very much the one to beat. Of the others, course scorer Florida Dreams should run his usual honest race and is noted along with Sonigino.

The vote goes to DOUBLE POWERFUL who emerged in third of 17 over this trip at the Aintree festival last April.

Charles Byrnes bids for a fifth victory in this contest and has an excellent chance with the unexposed I STARTED A JOKE. The selection's overall bumper form reads well and having scored nicely at Punchestown in January, he appears to be better than his mark of 126. Former Cheltenham Bumper winner A Dream To Share also retains an attractive hurdling mark and while it is notable that Mark Walsh rides at his lowest weight 10st 2lb, he is unproven on really testing ground. Murcia is a smart performer and completes the shortlist along with Bowensonfire and Hello Neighbour.

Willie Mullins trains almost half of the field and MURCIA is the pick of stable jockey Paul Townend, so he looks the one to be on.

LONE SOLDIER finished a long way clear of the third when beaten a length into second in this grade over 2m1f here last time and is just 3lb higher. The extra distance shouldn't pose any problems and it wouldn't be a surprise to see him go one better. Grain Trade's sole career success came over C&D and he has to be considered after his second at Huntingdon in December. Of the remainder, Everyonesacritic makes the most appeal.

It's the first day of February and all should be well with EVERYONESACRITIC who is unbeaten in the second month of the year.

By the same sire of Allaho and Epatante, the selection is out of a seven-time winning mare and having shown promise on debut behind the reopposing Wonderful Everyday last April, she returned with a smart winning effort at Fairyhouse. Celestial Tune scored on testing ground at Cheltenham in November. She is dependable and should feature at the business end. Wonderful Everyday disappointed at Huntingdon in December and comes here with a point to prove.
