ONEFOURNINE took a step forward from her hurdling debut when just denied at Fontwell last month and Jonjo & A J O'Neill's mare appears to have been found a suitable opportunity to go one better. Sevarana filled the runner-up spot at Lingfield and may appreciate a drop in trip on this occasion. Others for the shortlist include Jem's Lilly and Appleshaw.

Lady Magic can improve on her recent hurdle debut but ONEFOURNINE is taken to go one better than at Fontwell last time.

Market Rasen winner in June; hasn't run as well since, including over fences; bit to prove.

Although ROGER RAREBIT's last two successes came on the back of lengthy breaks, Tom Lacey's nine-year-old won in a convincing manner at Warwick's New Year's Eve fixture and could be tough to overhaul if this doesn't come around too soon for him. A 5lb rise for that success looks a fair assessment. Whatsyourproblem is unexposed at the trip and merits a betting check, while Dunstall Rambler is 11lb above his last winning mark but can also figure if his C&D fall is forgotten.

The ground will be against several of these but not ROGER RAREBIT who is taken to beat Whatsyourproblem.

Won a steadily-run 2m7f Limerick Grade 2 race, should be able to cope with a stronger pace.

Trainer is in form and he looks classy, with improvement likely now upped in trip though conditions a slight concern. Three wins on good-to yielding ground at short odds, made mistakes when raised in class.

Second in a 2m4f Limerick contest on heavy ground, his trainer has stronger candidates.

Had been in good form beforehand and is steadily progressing, but has plenty to find to win at Graded level and was held by Doctor Steinberg in a maiden. Beat Jalon d'Oudairies at Christmas, Naas fifth exposed his limitations at Grade 1 level.

Effective over this range and arrives as a progressive type though form has taken some knocks. Three wins from four, all with heavy in the going description, likely to be in the mix.

That came after a short break and the form has been franked in a Grade 3. He looks a hugely progressive stayer, though he needs more again stepping up in class and there are ground concerns. Highly progressive since last summer, trip would be fine on different ground, doubts here.

Third to Kazansky at Limerick, RPR and official figures suggest this will be too demanding.

DOCTOR STEINBERG won a Ballinrobe bumper in good style last May and is unbeaten in both starts over the smaller obstacles. The son of Doctor Dino beat Frankie John at Galway and handled testing ground well when keeping on strongly to land a 2m4f Grade 2 at Navan next time. That form was given a timely boost by Thedeviluno last weekend and he could prove hard to beat. Gordon Elliott is four-handed with Santo Sospir bidding for a hat-trick following a decisive win on heavy ground at Clonmel, while Jack Kennedy's mount Kazansky has proven stamina after landing a Grade 2 at Limerick.

Willie Mullins has won four of the last five editions. He can add to the trend with DOCTOR STEINBERG, whose Navan win has been boosted

IL VA DE SOI was still in contention when falling two out at Uttoxeter on New Year's Eve and it won't be a surprise if the eight-year-old is able to gain compensation, especially in a contest where so many of his rivals have a bit to prove. A change of headgear to blinkers might aid the cause of Magical King after a couple of below-par efforts over fences so far. Chasing debutant Ignore The Door appeals most of the remainder.

A course winner over hurdles, SAINT ANAPOLINO has made a solid start to his chasing career and will appreciate today's ease in grade.

BENMORE got off the mark over fences with a ready success at Leicester before posting another good effort when second at Market Rasen on Boxing Day. The fact he was raised 3lb for that performance confirms he is on the upgrade and is well worth following. Daytime Dreaming couldn't justify favouritism on his chasing debut, but that support suggests better was expected. He is dangerous to ignore. Dromlac Jury and Flash In The Park complete the shortlist.

Having shaped well when fourth over C&D on his chase debut, DAYTIME DREAMING is taken to get off the mark over fences.

The unbeaten MANGE TOUT has already had the number of Narciso Has having beaten that rival by nearly three lengths in a Grade 3 at Fairyhouse and she is taken to confirm that form, despite being 4lb worse off. The selection did have the benefit of a previous outing this term and Narciso Has certainly progressed when landing a Grade 2 over C&D at the Christmas meeting, with North Shore and Barbizon soundly beaten in third and fourth respectively. Willie Mullins' challenge is further bolstered by Selma De Vary and Bertutea, who both won in clear-cut fashion on heavy ground last time. Immediate Effect was rated in the high 80s on the Flat and made a winning start over hurdles at Punchestown.

RECKLESS SPENDING struggled when upped to 3m in a Grade 2 at Cheltenham's December meeting, but his Ascot third looked promising at the time and the winner of that contest scored on Trials Day. This appears to be a fine opportunity for Nicky Henderson's gelding to bounce back. Step Ahead won at Cheltenham on New Year's Day, with Neon Dream back in third, and he is entitled to be in the mix along with impressive Taunton winner Religous Cross.

WILSTAR, a half-brother to the the top-class Douvan and Jonbon, will have to go some to live up to that pedigree. However, he is still very low-mileage and there were encouraging signs in his Ayr second. That was his first start after wind surgery and a race of this nature is within range with another step forward. Tread Carefully has shown ability and is feared most. Myrighthandman and Joeybottles also command respect.

The choice is TREAD CAREFULLY, who was a good second at Sandown two runs ago and is taken to beat Wilstar and Joeybottles.

COUNTY FINAL has progressed rapidly since making his debut last May and will be suited by this test of stamina. The Eric McNamara-trained gelding opened his account in runaway fashion at Navan in September and after finishing second to subsequent winner Kotkito Bello over an inadequate 2m1f at Punchestown, again filled the runner-up spot behind Kazansky in a 2m7f Grade 2 at Limerick. Champagne Kid is bidding for a hat-trick after scoring over an extended 2m4f here at Christmas, while Duke Silver had several of these rivals behind when successful over a similar trip at this venue. Dippedinmoonlight and Son Of Anarchy are others to consider.

ICE IN THE VEINS landed a double in quick succession in November, scoring at Warwick before dropping back in trip over C&D. An opening mark of 120 appears to be fair judged on what he has achieved to date and a wind operation may further aid his cause. Wild Goose benefited from the application of a tongue-tie when routing the opposition on his handicap debut at Ludlow. He has to be respected after a 12lb hike, while Soleil D'arizona and Graecia complete the shortlist.

With the tongue-tie retained, WILD GOOSE may well improve further and defy a big hike in the weights for his Ludlow success.

Having attracted strong market support on his debut under Rules, point-to-point recruit MOYGANNY PHIL could be the answer. It's safe to assume better was expected from the Olly Murphy-trained six-year-old over C&D and, with that experience to draw upon, he looks worth another chance. Useful on the Flat, Fouroneohfever looked set to be a clear second-best before falling on his hurdles debut at Sandown. He should be wiser and must have every chance in this company. Other notable options include Mr Jukebox and Herbygoesbananas.

In a tricky race, MR JUKEBOX, who has shown promise in bumpers, is taken to make a winning debut over hurdles.

This appears to be a bit of a penalty kick now for ROMEO COOLIO after the defection of Kopek Des Bordes. Gordon Elliott's charge is three from three over fences and has already struck twice at the top level. He needed every yard of this trip to overhaul Irish Panther here at Christmas and more testing conditions should bring his stamina into play. Dual Grade 1-winning hurdler Kargese is the obvious danger. She was well held on her chase debut in Cork but opened her account in fine style here at Christmas. Downmexicoway is a nice horse in his own right but needs to improve to trouble the front pair.

Despite a slight concern about the ground, dual Grade 1 winner ROMEO COOLIO should have too much firepower for Kargese

Madara was on the back of a 378-day absence when he returned at Wetherby's Christmas fixture and is likely to do a lot better with that run under his belt. However, preference is for ISSAM, who is 2-5 over fences and is developing well as a chaser. Dropping the Tom Symonds-trained gelding back down in trip could be a profitable move. Petit Tonnerre, who won a Listed handicap over an extended 2m at Punchestown on his penultimate start, is another must for consideration.

Novice chaser RIGHTSOTOM looks attractively weighted and is taken to record a first win over fences. Scarface is second pick.

Somebodycomegether scored at Catterick on her penultimate start and has to enter calculations once again. The rest all have something to prove, but Time Was and By The Grace look the pick of them.

The most obvious answer is PARISH STAR (nap), who escapes a penalty for his win at Newcastle on Tuesday.

GALOPIN DES CHAMPS ran a fine race in defeat here at Christmas and can land a remarkable fourth success in this race. The 10-year-old led two from home in the Savills Chase but couldn't sustain his effort, getting headed before the final fence. He has displayed a stunning finishing kick in the closing stages here in the past and he can give another masterclass at this venue. Affordale Fury really blossomed in the aforementioned contest and may well have to more to offer. Spindleberry is unbeaten over fences and it will be fascinating to see how she measures up, while Gold Cup winner Inothewayurthinkin will be expected to perform better after a couple of below-par efforts.

GRAND CONQUEROR is progressive and this inevitable step up in class looks manageable at the present time. With the forecast ground identical to the conditions for his wins at Plumpton and Fontwell, the five-year-old has plenty going for him. A 9lb rise is a slight concern and creates hope for the likes of Snapdance and The Two Harrys, who have displayed improved form and could capitalise on any weakness shown.

It's been all systems go for GRAND CONQUEROR (nap) in handicaps and he can make it 3-3 at this level. Walk Tall may be next best.

The drop in trip appears to be a positive for Martin Keighley's gelding, who looks capable of taking full advantage. Bitsnbuckles has been thereabouts recently and commands plenty of respect, while Motazzen and handicap debutant Firm But Fair head the remainder.

This can go to PIKE ROAD, who is down in grade and trip, and is preferred to the unexposed Firm But Fair and Motazzen.

JACOB'S LADDER has been running in some strong novice contests this season and looks capable of landing a big pot here off this mark of 143. The Mount Nelson gelding chased home a smart sort in Kappa Jy Pyke at Punchestown last time, having won his beginners chase in good style at Fairyhouse over 2m previously. He looks like a better chaser than he was a hurdler. Western Diego bounced back to winning ways in another valuable prize at Fairyhouse and is likely to enter calculations, despite an 8lb rise. Addragoole was a cosy winner here at Christmas but more testing conditions would be a slight concern.

As a half-brother to high-class mare Jade De Grugy, there is plenty to like about the profile of LOUXOR DE GRUGY. Debuting for an in-form yard, this 150,000-euro purchase is the most intriguing option in a likely informative bumper. Point-to-point winners Inishbofin and Pitch And Toss are other reasonably expensive recruits to monitor in the betting. The Flat-bred Aribidia is worth keeping an eye on.

Harry Swan takes the ride on CHARISMATIC KID and he may prove the pick of the Gordon Elliott-trained quartet. The Affinisea gelding made a big impression when scoring for Colm Ryan on his debut at Navan in December and was subsequently snapped up by Gigginstown for 300,000 pounds. Elliott had the fourth horse that day, With Nolimit, who has won since and reopposes. The Martin Brassil-trained It's Only A Game commands the utmost respect. He was second at the Punchestown Festival on debut last May before running out a cosy winner at the same course on his return in November. Generous Risk has run some nice races without winning a bumper and could reach the frame again.

With none of these in a rich vein of form, only a tentative nod goes to BLUENOSE BELLE. Runner-up over hurdles at Ludlow in November, Richard Phillips' mare returns to the Flat on an appealing mark and the booking of Simon Walker is a big positive. Pride Of Nepal only found one too good over 1m2f at Lingfield on his penultimate start and a repeat of that display would see him go close. Take The Boat isn't ruled out either.

Dual AW winner BLUENOSE BELLE is on a dangerous mark back in this sphere and could be a big factor with Simon Walker booked.

After taking the silver medal home in each of his last three outings, this might be the day for LEONETTO. The son of Frankel's most recent second at Kempton was arguably his best effort and the drop back a furlong shouldn't pose any problems. Horace Wallace has shown ability in both outings so far, most recently finishing third over C&D, and he rates as the main threat. Y Y Star looks best of the rest.

This looks a golden opportunity for LEONETTO, who sets a clear standard on his latest second at Kempton and is open to more progress.

Colors Of Freedom has proven expensive to follow, occupying the runner-up spot for the fifth race in a row over track and trip, and may fill that role again, this time behind WHAT WHAT WHAT. The four-year-old has been performing well in defeat and the assessor kindly dropped him 1lb for a third at Chelmsford. Now competing off a career-low rating, he could record a second career success. Newcastle winner Wee Mary is another to note.

The eye is immediately drawn to Latin after successfully completing the hat-trick over C&D last month, although a 4lb higher mark makes life tougher. With that in mind, LESSAY shades the vote. Pat Morris' charge finished a creditable third over 7f here recently and competes off an unchanged rating. With Paul Mulrennan booked, he could be the one to beat. The in-form Francesi is another to watch out for.

Top of the list is LATIN (nap) who made it five wins from his last ten starts when completing a course hat-trick over C&D 17 days ago.

CORUNDUM has seemingly found his level after producing a better display to fill the runner-up spot at this venue last month and he goes off the same figure. The extra furlong or so is unlikely to be any hindrance and Lucy Wadham's gelding can get off the mark. Two-time C&D winner Magic Runner was a close-up third over track and trip on her most recent start and has to be respected, along with Stipulation.

An open race in which the vote goes to MAGIC RUNNER who won over C&D on his penultimate run and was a close third here last time.

EASTER ICON has failed to fire over the smaller obstacles the last twice, but recorded a double on the all-weather prior to those efforts. The two-time course scorer returns to this sphere on a workable rating and could pick up where he left off. Francesco Baracca managed to come out on top over 1m6f here in December, despite taking a keen hold, and commands respect off only 3lb higher. Handicap debutant King's Cruiser is another to consider.

The one that appeals most is C&D winner FRANCESCO BARACCA, who hit a personal best with his comfortable win here in December.
